It was a great experience seeing the wildlife up close in their natural habitat. Some of the rarer animals eluded me due to the time of year I went but it remained a fulfilling tour nonetheless. My guides Dipas and Madhan did an excellent job of explaining the wildlife we encountered and providing context to the reserve. Both guides were very friendly with extra ordinary knowledge to find animals. It was amazing, superb. We were very lucky to see tiger just 100 mtr. away, uncomfortable rhinos, deers, moneys, boars, 2 kinds of crocodile, and many beautiful birds. • den003 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Humbling nature experience There were 2 guides- the one at the front was pretty excitable at times he went stumbling over when we had our first close encounter with a rhino. The company provided lunch but didn’t ask if we were vegetarian so there was some meat and eggs that we gave to the guides. We didn’t realise we would have to carry lunch luckily we had space in the backpack. Take lots of your own water we carried 4 litres for 2 of us, it wasn’t enough it was so hot. Our guides were very informative but we felt like we delayed at some rest stops for too long and as a result we just missed seeing the tiger at the waterhole. Amazing to see so many rhino close up in the waterholes with their calves. It was so special seeing so many rhinos in their natural habitat and just watching them. Read more Written May 22, 2023

The ladies toilets are an experience too. There’s a little snack bar there for cold drinks. It was good to see lots of checkpoints as the Nepalese army try to combat poaching. The safari was good we saw lots of rhinos and deer but no tigers. The guide didn’t point out a lot of birds but there were some really colourful ones. It was good that the jeep only had 6 people so there was some room but there is lots of bouncing around due to the tracks. So by the time we finished you really felt it in your back. At the end of the trip in Chitwan everyone was really happy. Dipas found activities to satisfy everyone. He did his best to find animals in the safari , and we also were lucky ! I knew Dipas by name because he guided my boyfriend 10 years ago and let a very good impression. I can say that 10 years later Dipas is still as good as he used to be. If you book an adventure with him or his team you will not regret it. He is kind, good worker, smiling, quiet when needed and friendly also when the time comes. Chitwan was a great discovery for me. • W8499VRtracys 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles A real trek that's worth every penny I wanted the Mission Big Cat Tour, but didn't have the exact time required. I communicated with Dipas and he arranged a tour that worked around my schedule, including airport pick up/drop off, meals, and lodging/home stays. I requested a strenuous hiking trek and Dipas delivered! We had 2 full days of walking, a Jeep safari day, and a 1/2 day of canoe trip (maybe 30min in the canoe) and short hiking. We didn't see a tiger, but saw just about everything else in the park! So many rhinos that I stopped taking pictures unless it was perfect (probably 50 rhinos), muggar crocs, gharials, gaurs (wild ox), multiple sloth bears including one with a baby on its back, mongoose, multiple boar, cobra, macaques, langurs, spotted deer, barking deer, army-owned elephants, and so many birds (rollers, storks, herons, fish eagles, kingfishers, etc.) Dipas and the other guide, Maya, were extra cautious about my safety the entire time and were incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, birds, and plants that we encountered. (That's not true of all guides in Nepal.) They were also genuinely fun people to spend 4 days with while trekking through the jungle. My suggestion is to let them know that you want to eat what they're eating (not American sandwiches) and you'll be in for some amazing trail food. I eat gluten free and had more than enough food every day (potatoes, curry, rice, eggs, etc.). Daily I saw people clearly envious of this solo female walking off into the brush with two guides all to herself. So book with Dipas and you won't regret it! Read more Written May 3, 2023

The guide, Dipash and other guide, they have real experienced in wildlife. They know all the animal spot in the park. Second day, jeep safari for full day, was superb cool too. We really enjoyed through, The Chitwan Tiger Guide Service and mini library and their teams. We saw lots of wildlife, bengal tiger ( first time, i will never forget him), many rhinos, deers, monkeys, crocodiles, and lots of birds. is in chitwan national park

Jungle drive or jeep safari is one of the popular jungle safari activities in Chitwan National Park.  The jeep is open. you can do half-day, full-day and multiday jeep safari in Chitwan National Park. it is the best way to observe a big area and the best way of reaching different vegetation and wildlife habitats in a short time.  including sal forest, grassland, riverain forest and wetland in the Chitwan National Park. it will drive you through the grassland, next to the water resources and forest. jeep will stop at several areas such as the observation tower next to the lake, near the river, grassland and the wildlife sighting area, headquarters at Kasara, and the Gharial Conservation Project/crocodile breeding centre,  The half-day safari cover more than 50 km distance and more or less 4 hours during the trip and full day safari cover more or less 100 km distance and more than 8 hours during the trips. jeep safari is one of the safe ways of observing wildlife and its habitat in Chitwan National Park. But jeeps, unlike walk and elephants can’t leave the road to follow animals or go through tall grass. Still, rhino sightings are practically guaranteed on any jungle drive. Sighting of mammals like Tiger, Sloth bear, Gaur, Leopard, Deer, Monkey and several species of birds are chief attractions of the trips.  full-day or multi-day jeep safari is the best way of supporting the tiger. As the grass grows tall, animal spotting becomes increasingly difficult. Each jeep should come with a driver and a separate wildlife spotter and experience and wildlife tracking park certified guide. The guide has the main role to make your safari dreams come true.

Jeep Safari in Chitwan National Park

  • Chitwan Jeep Safari

jeep safari cost in chitwan national park

One of the options to see the wildlife in Chitwan national park is to go on a jeep safari. During this trip you will sit in de back of an open jeep to see the animals. The driver will stop to show places and animals. You will have a great opportunity to get some good pictures this way.

During the trip, the guide will hang at the back of the vehicle to spot animals. He will also give information about the environment and the wildlife.

To do the Jeep safari you get two options:

The first option is a short safari. This will take about 4 hours and you are in the jeep with a maximum of 7 persons. With your back you will sit to the side of the jeep. This safari will start around 13.00 p.m. and finishes around 17.00 p.m.

The second option is a full day safari. The jeep is more comfortable as you have better seats and a private car. This trip will start early in the morning and you will finish around the same time as the short drive. With this trip you will go deeper in the jungle and here you will have more chance to see tigers. During this trip, the lunch will be eaten in the jungle itself.

Don’t be afraid, you don’t have to catch your own food.

Tip: During a jeep safari you should not wear bright colors. This will scare the animals so off white, Black, grey, dark green are preferred.

Jeep Safari in Chitwan National Park

As one of Nepal’s biggest National Parks, Chitwan National Park is a true must visit in a country filled with “must visits.” It started as a hunting area for the royalty of Nepal but was converted to a National Park to preserve the animals in 1971. The 360 square miles house everything from rhinos and tigers to elephants and crocodiles and the best way to get deep into the park is by hiring a jeep safari. There are over 43 species of mammals in the park and the best time to visit is anytime other then the monsoon months of June – September, when the park is overflowing with water.

Safari Chitwan National Park 10

When I went my safari was a half day in a jeep, which took us way back into the park. In order to get to the jeep area though we had to cross the river by canoe and walk past a elephant before finding the jeeps.

Safari Chitwan National Park 16

The elephant minded his own business and seemed more concerned with his food then with the humans that were walking near him.

Safari Chitwan National Park 7

The jeeps themselves were pretty nice with open tops and elevated row seating and we headed out into the park.

Safari Chitwan National Park 8

Right off the bat we caught a rhino bathing in the river and it didn’t even seem to care that we had snuck up on it and we were able to get great views for 5 minutes before proceeding on.

Safari Chitwan National Park 9

From there though we saw a lot less animals the rest of the day but it was a beautiful area to drive around in regardless. Here is what we saw.

Safari Chitwan National Park 17

The king of Chitwan, it is so cool to see these tank like animals up close. We were lucky enough to see three on our trip. The above one was the best as he just stared at us for a while.

Safari Chitwan National Park 3

I was even able to get a shot of the guide we had who got close to the rhino to take a picture. Not very safe but I am sure the shots are good.

Safari Chitwan National Park 15

Deer are everywhere in the park and we saw a lot while driving around. Often times we would see them out in the open but other times you had to watch closely to see them in the bushes.

Safari Chitwan National Park 21

Yes, we saw a warthog, it was a nice citing in the afternoon. Our guide loved calling him Pumba.

Safari Chitwan National Park

The national bird of India also lives in the wild here. We saw a lot in the park.

Monitor Lizard

Safari Chitwan National Park (1)

These deadly lizards are best to avoid but are cool to see from afar. They are much bigger then I anticipated them being.

Safari Chitwan National Park 1

We stumbled upon a tree full of red bugs that was pretty neat to see as well and there are bugs everywhere.

Safari Chitwan National Park 11

I don’t have to much bird knowledge myself but we did see a lot of beautiful birds in the park.

Safari Chitwan National Park 13

The ride itself was very bumpy and after 4 hours you are pretty ready to be out of the jeep. The area you are driving through is beautiful though and even when you are not seeing animals it is nice just to take in the surroundings. Our guide took us by the crocodile park and I recommend that as well. It is pretty far into the park and is a fun way to see some crocodiles up close in a safe environment.

Safari Chitwan National Park 19

All in all it was a good trip, but I would have to say that my safari on the elephant was much more fun then the jeep trip personally.

A jeep safari in Chitwan

Arm yourself with a camera and binoculars on an exhilarating wildlife experience – spotting, tracking and viewing on a jeep safari. Immerse yourself in the natural terrain of Chitwan National Park, riding in an open top jeep through a dense forest of jungle. Keep your eyes open and attune your ears to slight rumblings and rustlings and be aware of ever so fast flashes of swishing tails.

Your foray into the Park takes you down knobbly, jutted trails with an abundance of wildlife hiding behind trees, slinking across the ground, lolling in a ravine, or doing a splendid job at playing camouflage. Home to at least 43 species of mammals, the ‘King of the Jungle’ here is the Bengal tiger. Leopards are most active on the peripheries of the Park, and even though they co-exist with tigers, being socially subordinate they are not common in prime tiger habitat. Should luck not be on your side in finding the rare Bengal tiger, your chances are higher of seeing the iconic Asiatic rhino, currently on the brink of extinction.

Traversing a large area, your early morning and late afternoon jeep safari will be accompanied by a trained naturalist who will help you spot wildlife and informatively explain whatever you come across. He will also be constantly checking the ground for any fresh animal tracks that may have passed by recently.

Chitwan jungle safari

An alternative to explore the jungle is the jeep safari. Though is a bit noisier than the elephant safari , the jeep safari covers a larger area of the jungle in a fast-moving vehicle. The more area covered the more chance of you being chased by a tiger as you ride safely at the back of the jeep. Another bonus you can enjoy through the jeep safari is you can accommodate your group all at once. This, however, maybe a drawback for the visitors as you may miss a few shy animals and also the natural state of the same by the sound of the vehicle.
