It’s tomorrow’s rodeo today – the world’s best athletes on six teams, each led by a legendary rodeo head coach, facing off head-to-head in simultaneous bracket-style competition at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on May 17 for a $1 million purse.

The all-star rodeo team competition and upbeat production, with Kid Rock performing live, will be patterned after the successful formula PBR brought to bull riding through the Teams league launched in 2022.

Head Coach, Free Riders

Hailed by some as the greatest bareback rider in history, Mote in 2012 became the first to surpass $2 million in earnings. He qualified for the WNFR 15 consecutive years beginning in 2001. In 2002, Mote won his first of four PRCA bareback riding world championships, also riding supreme in 2007, 2009 and 2010. In his mid-20s Mote took up team roping, and in 2012 finished runner-up to Trevor Brazile in the All-Around Championship.

Head Coach, Convoy

Calf roper, steer roper and team roper Ohl delivered one of the most memorable debut seasons in the PRCA ranks when he was crowned the 1994 Rookie of the Year and qualified for his first WNFR as a tie-down roper. In 1997 Ohl won his first World Championship when he edged Fred Whitfield by a mere $5,031. The title would be Ohl’s first of six, also winning the tie-down roping title in 1998, 2001, 2003 and 2006, and he was crowned All-Around Champion in 2001. Ohl, who only missed one WNFR qualification from 1994-2014, entered an elite group of competitors in 2012 when he crossed $3 million in earnings.

Trevor Brazile

Head coach, low riders.

Brazile is arguably the greatest-ever all-around cowboy, competing in tie-down roping, team roping (as both header and heeler) and steer roping, winning an unprecedented 26 World Championships during his career. Called by some “King of the Cowboys” he is the only PRCA contender to have won more than $7 million. Brazile is the only other cowboy to qualify for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) in four events.

Sid Steiner

Head coach, jokers.

World Champion steer wrestler Steiner, a trailblazing showman who competed from 1995 to 2002, hails from a family with a rich rodeo history. A fourth generation member of legendary rodeo producers Buck and Tommy of Steiner Rodeo Company, Sid is the son of 2005 PBR Ring of Honor inductee and 1973 RCA World Champion bull rider Bobby Steiner. During his career Steiner, who sported a variety of tattoos and piercings, was nicknamed “Sid Rock” for his charisma and showmanship. After being crowned World Champion in 2002, Steiner retired.

Charmayne James

Head coach, misty mountain hop.

No cowgirl has won more WPRA world championships in barrel racing than James. Of her 11 WPRA barrel racing world titles, 10 came in consecutive years (1984-93). Qualifying for the WNRF 19 times, she won seven WNFR barrel racing average titles and was the first barrel racer to eclipse $1 million in career earnings. In 1987, James made history when she became the first WPRA member to wear the No. 1 back number at Wrangler National Finals Rodeo.

Fred Whitfield

Head coach, sledge hammers.

Whitfield is one of the most decorated Black cowboys in rodeo history. He is a seven-time tie-down roping PRCA world champion and was once crowned the all-around champion, while also winning the WNFR average in tie-down roping four times. When Whitfield won the 1991 tie-down roping title, he became the second Black cowboy in PRCA history to win a world title, and then became the first Black Western sports athlete to win an all-around title in 1999. A 20-time WNFR qualifier, his 10-head total of 84.0 seconds en route to the aggregate title in 1997 is regarded as one of the WNFR’s greatest performances.

About Kid Rock

Robert James Ritchie (born January 17, 1971), known professionally as Kid Rock, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter, musician, record producer, and actor. His 1998 album Devil Without a Cause sold 14 million copies worldwide. He is a five-time Grammy Award nominee and has sold 25 million albums in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan. The RIAA certified him selling 23.5 million albums. He has sold over 35 million records worldwide. Rock performed rap and hip hop with five releases between 1990 and 1997, including a reissue and an EP. After signing a recording contract with Atlantic Records in 1998, he gained commercial success in the rap rock genre behind the singles "Bawitdaba", "Cowboy" and "Only God Knows Why" (the latter foreshadowing his move into country rock). After the success of Devil Without a Cause in 2000, he released The History of Rock, a compilation of remixed and remastered versions of songs from previous albums as well as the hit rock single, "American Bad Ass". Rock's follow-up records became more rock-, country-, and blues-oriented, starting with 2001's Cocky. His collaboration with Sheryl Crow on the song "Picture" was his first country hit and biggest pop hit in the US to date charting at No. 4 on the Hot 100. After 2003's Kid Rock and 2006's Live Trucker sales declined from the previous releases, he then released Rock n Roll Jesus in 2007. The album featured the song "All Summer Long", which charted at No. 1 in eight countries across Europe and Australia. In 2010, he released Born Free, which featured an eponymous song that became the political campaign theme of Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee for President of the United States in the 2012 election. Rock released Rebel Soul on November 19, 2012, behind the rock hit "Let's Ride". The album was certified gold in April 2013. Kid Rock released First Kiss on February 24, 2015, behind the hit title track. In July 2017, Kid Rock began showing interest in running for U.S. Senate in Michigan, against incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow, though has not officially entered the race.
