8. Floating Tiki Bar Cruise
In Chicago, weâre one of the few cities where we can dig our toes beneath the sand and jump into the waves to cool off; even with humidity at an all-time high, weâre still far from a tropical paradise with palm trees and coconut-sippy cups.
However, one way is to head to a tiki oasis without spending hundreds on a plane ticket. At this floating tiki bar, you can cruise down the Chicago River while soaking in tropical tunes and the cityâs stunning architecture.
This is a unique tiki Chicago booze cruise experience, from bascule bridges to the Tower buildings.Â

Awesome booze cruise!
Enjoyed the booze cruise, amazing views, great drinks and the DJ had everyone dancing! I can't wait to cruise with Chicago Party Boat again!
We went on this boat for a 3 hour booze cruise down the river on the weekend of St. Patrickâs Day! The upper deck was fantastic with great views and comfortable seating. The lower deck had plenty of seating and was heated which was a major bonus. There was a dance floor and bar, the DJ was great! There are 2 restrooms for each gender and they were nice for being on a boat. I would highly recommend for a cruise down the river!
Sooooo much fun!!!!! đ My boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves. The music and drinks were on point! We danced and laughed the night away. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences Iâve ever had. The water and the night lights looked so beautiful. I look forward to doing it again. Definitely gets a 10 out of 10 from us. đ
If you are considering this cruise line.... DONT... We have used this cruise line before. Itâs been nothing but a let down. This years experience however has made us decide to never come back. We showed up for st Patrickâs day cruise. We were told that we wouldnât be leaving the port. The boat was not busy at all and itâs our opinion they didnât sell enough tickets to cover the expense of leaving the dock. We drove an hour and a half to be here and get great views of the city. Sitting at the dock listening to loud lake shore drive and constant construction noise from under the bridge is not what you pay for. The staff was not accommodating for an issue we had with one of our tickets as well and charged an Emory our surcharge at the gate for a boat that wasnât even leaving the port. If we hadnât drove so far we would have walked out right then. Anyways. If by chance you decide to suffer a trip with this miserable company please donât order lemonade as a mixer. It tastes like lemon pledge. We have a group of over 10 and we will be sure to take our business elsewhere.
I signed up to do the family friendly cruise on New Year's Eve. This boat is VERY hard to find, cabbie could not find it, guards at Navy Pier did not know, so we got let out a mile away and had to walk, in the rain. On boat: extremely loud music,no way you could speak to others. Had to scream in their ear. Music never stopped, between songs, just went into another and it was all music for teens (I guess), music I did not know anyway. We were told to bring no food, but there was none on board. Do these people know that some folks have diabetes etc. So, nothing but drinks to buy. Since it was cold, foggy, rainy, you could not see OUT the windows and it was too miserable to go out. If you were not a dancer (we are not), there was nothing to do but sit. And watch the dancers. YOu could not converse as music was horrendously loud.A log 2 1/2 hours for sure. Will not do it again.
We were visiting the area to see FSU play Notre Dame. Gameday Excursions arranged for the charter of the yacht for our group. Open bar and DJ included. Thanks goodness there was enclosed (heated) areas as it snowed that morning and the temperature was in the low 30's. Despite the weather, and due to the group of FSU fans on board, it was a very enjoyable ride out to the Lake, including going in and out of the lock.

After a successful first trip on the river with Island Party Boat, we decided to try out the lake boat cruise on our next trip to Chicago. Our favorite part of cruising with Island Party Boats is that there's no annoying announcements or tour. Just sit back, chat with your friends, grab a drink at the short line, and enjoy! Sunday was deemed Sunday funday which meant $2 Mimosas and $5 bloody Mary's. On the lake boat cruise you go through the lock and dam and there's some pretty good people/boat watching of the whole production of getting out to the lake. One of the best values in town!

Island Party Boat exceeded my expectations! We were in town for my birthday weekend, and on the hunt for a fun boating excursion. We were trying to stay away from the architecture tours with annoying tour guides and crowded decks with no shade (there is a time and a place for that, but not our hope), so we decided on booking through Island Party Boat and obviously chose to add on the open bar option! The boat launches from Island Party Hut Tiki Bar on the Chicago River Walk. We signed up for the 1:30PM time slot on a Friday, and we are so glad! We arrived a little early and grabbed something to eat and drink at the Tiki Bar (on land) while we waited. As we saw people start to crowd around the boat, and the crew start to activate, we made our way to the boat. To our surprise, there was only about 15 people on our boat, along with 6 crew members! There was lots of space to stand or sit, on the top deck or down below. Plenty of shaded area & my favorite spot: the bow of the boat, with great views and photo opps! Our bartender was fantastic: Ed. Ed is also a magician -- and has a great laid back personality + makes great drinks! We got an open bar pass for $30, and it was well worth it, and nice to not have to whip out your wallet for each drink. The other staff on the boat were great as well: informative, helpful and attentive to any questions we had. I have been recommending this cruise to anyone who is headed to Chicago and looking for something unique to book! I will be back Island Party Boat!!
Rented a boat for a family day out and we were not disappointed. It was just us on the boat with a very friendly captain who let me kids have a hand at the wheel. He played great music throughout, told us what he was doing and the process of booking was very simple and easy 10/10 recommend
Such a fun time with 30 of us. I love the Chicago skyline. It's the best. The staff was friendly and there is even an option for open bar.
I booked this service for my birthday and I was having a great time until I was leaving the boat and the captain, "Captain Blue" squeezed my ass on the way out. They better be happy I'm not coming for them for sexual harassment. They should fire him and teach him how to respect paying customers.
On the 75 minute early evening tour on. Friday night. Can't beat the scenery! Captain Rob has the tunes jamming and the drinks are strong! If you are looking for a fun way to start or finish your evening you can't beat a trip on the Chicago River on Island Party Boat!
A group of friends and I did a public cruise last month for the 4th of July weekend. Buying tickets online was very easy and I like that they tell you how many tickets are remaining for the specific cruises you may be interested in. The boat docks at the Island Party Hut near the river. If you have time and like tiki drinks, I highly suggest arriving early (maybe 45 minutes to account for the lines) to try to get a drink at the hut before boarding the boat. The hut has a larger drink selection than on the boat. There also aren't many traditional island-inspired/tiki drinks available on the boat, which surprised me a bit. I enjoyed the boat ride and we got to see a lot of the river during the 90 minutes. We paid a little bit of a premium for our tickets because of it being during the 4th of July Weekend. It was great to do it once, but I would only go again if it was a lower-priced ticket day (some non-holiday cruises are under $40).
Such a fun time! Good drinks, music, scenery, and people! Highly recommend on your trip to Chicago!
Did you know? Island party boat has a boat for up to 36 people with a water slide and full crew to take you out on the lake for your next special day. Loved working with Bob on planning this trip. It was very easy. There are many different drink packages and food packages. We booked it for a corporate party and it was very easy to coordinate. The crew was fantastic taking us out on the lake and doing the river cruise. It was so much fun and will definitely be something that we will look forward to annually.
Never ever ever again! The boat was DISGUSTING! The toilet seat wasn't even attached to the toilet! Are you F&@$*#* kidding me. The crew was a bunch dickheads and were not helpful or friendly. They dropped our catered food and didn't even apologize. Totally unprofessional, totally gross, and totally not worth it. These bums can sink and they would be doing the world a favor. You could not pay me to do this ever again. Wash your f*$%!N hands before you touch food that isn't yours. Maybe shower before work. Nasty!
Captain Sam, Crystal, and the rest of the crew that took us out on Sunday 7/17 were amazing. The weather didn't deliver, but the experience made up for it. It was one of all of our best days of summer, and we can't appreciate the positivity, flexibility, professionalism, and accommodating nature of the entire crew. It was a great experience all around.

Things to do | get yourself on a boat: the best booze cruises in chicago.
For three months, Chicago’s weather permits us to spend prolonged periods of time outdoors, and we always make the best of it. That includes pretending like we’re living in an island paradise and drinking memories of winter away. On a boat.
Grab your life-jackets and your goggles (beer or otherwise) and head to these 14 booze cruises to work on your sea legs while getting raucously drunk.
Island Party Boat Monroe Harbor, 312-600-8454 If you’re OK with bordering on tacky, take an Island Party Boat booze cruise along the Chicago River. Friday Late Night âBooze Cruiseâ
This booze cruise was HORRIBLE. How is it even called a âbooze cruiseâ when you have to wait in line for an hour to get your drinks, only to be told once you get to the bartender âone drink per personâ?! There could have been a sign posted or something to be courteous to the people that bought tickets to this so called booze cruise. On top of that, this boat had the SLOWEST BARTENDERS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! How hard is it to hire competent employees?! If you canât do that, at least equipt the boat with more staff in order to cater to all of the people you crammed onto the boat in the first place. I was HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED in this event. It was definetly not what it was advertised to be and I will NOT be returning or recommending this âbooze cruiseâ for any future events. I have been on other booze cruises and I have never had a bad experience until this one. Such a waste of time and money.
Hi April, we're so sorry to hear about this experience. I will follow up with you via private message to grab your information so we're able to follow up with our onboard team.
We had fun on Spirit of Chicago. Food was good but desserts could have more taste. DJ played our requests. Staff was friendly. Boarding was easy.
Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate it!
From the first step on the ramp on boarding to the last step on leaving cruise every staff member was friendly, respectful, helpful & left a sense of their appreciation for my selecting their lunch cruise. Food was pretty good and the buffet was kept full during the length of the cruise. I appreciated the table linens; no bare tables on paper napkins here. And they keep all areas of the ship clean!
We're so happy to hear this - thanks for your review!
wonderful city views and views of fireworks from lake michigan. very good food and good dj music for dancing with different variety.
Happy to hear this! Thanks for your review.
It was my family's first visit to Chicago. We went on the spirit of Chicago to celebrate my mother's 78th birthday. The food was very tasty, the staff were all nice and helpful and overall we had a great time. I would definitely do it again!
Thanks for celebrating with us!
My high school class recently celebrated our 20th reunion on the Spirit of Chicago. We had an amazing time. When we reached out to them to make arrangements, we were provided a link that everyone would use to make their individual payments, it kept us from having to assign one person to collect the money. Boarding occurred on time as did the time to set sail. The food was good, the drinks were a bit pricey, but their strength made up for the cost. Overall a great experience and would do it again
Thanks for your review. It was a pleasure hosting you and the rest of the reunion!
