Useful information

Redhill Aerodrome is an outside venue, so on the day please wear sensible shoes, there is no cover at the helipad, but shelter is available at the cafe ( as with all of our advice for third party cafes and pubs, please be a patron of the establishment whilst sheltering ) so be prepared inclemant weather in the event of showers. The Cafe is a short walk from the check in site (this is a pop up site) please leave plenty of time to get back from the cafe for your flight. On occation, Heathrow traffic may NOT permit aircraft into the London Control zone, so be prepared for an alternate route (the ground crew would advise of this on your arrival). Always check the event weather and go ahead hot line and check your emails prior to leaving the house.

When you arrive with us relax in our offices and take in the amazing views across a busy active airfield. Before taking your flight, you’ll take part in a short safety briefing with one of our Commercial Pilots.

Your Professional Pilot will provide helpful commentary along the way while talking to Air Traffic Control. The London sightseeing tour starts with a flight across the Surrey countryside north towards Central London and follows the River Thames right through the heart of the Capital.

 Departing from Redhill Aerodrome, you’ll first head to across the Surrey Countryside and the M25 before entering the Heathrow Control Zone and heading into Central London itself. Joining the River Thames at Barnes you can sit back and enjoy as you take in the stunning views from the air of this historic city. You’ll follow the River Thames just above the height of the Shard and have fantastic views of the centre of the city.

This trip of a lifetime includes unique views of some of Central London’s most famous landmarks: Houses of Parliament, Millennium Eye, Trafalgar Square, St Paul’s, The Globe Theatre, The City, The Tower of London, HMS Belfast, Tower Bridge. After seeing so many famous sites, you’ll head back toward Redhill. 

The total flight time is estimated at 35 minutes, but we recommend allowing an hour for the whole experience with us.

London Olympic Helicopter Tour

This London Sightseeing tour with the Olympic Extension continues your flight along the Thames all the way down to the Isle of Dogs!

Your flight starts soaring across the Surrey countryside north towards Central London. After flying over the crowded M25 traffic you head for the famous Epsom Race Course and into the London Heathrow Control Zone. From Banstead and Nonsuch Park you will track the A3 past Wimbledon and Richmond Park heading towards the arch of Wembley Stadium.

Joining the River Thames at Barnes we pass Craven Cottage and the Chelsea Football Club. On the north bank will be Chelsea Harbour and on the south bank, Battersea Power Station looms. From this advantage point, you can clearly see Hyde Park, The Royal Albert Hall and the private gardens at the rear of Buckingham Palace. Just past the left-hand bend in the river and Vauxhall Bridge are the Houses of Parliament on one side and the Millennium Eye on the other.

You are now in the very Centre of London with sights coming thick and fast. Trafalgar Square is quickly followed by Horse Guards, St Paul’s, The Globe Theatre, The City, The Tower of London, HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge.

The Olympic Extension to your Tour the flight continues along the Thames down to the Isle of Dogs, marvel at the massive scale of the Olympic village and take in the surrounding scenery from the air. The village encompasses a world-class Aquatics Centre and the new Stratford International station in East London. What should I wear for my helicopter tour?

To make the most of your helicopter tour, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing and shoes. Dressing in layers is advisable as temperatures may vary during the flight. Sunglasses are essential to protect your eyes from glare.

We recommend wearing dark coloured clothes as they tend to reflect much less in the helicopter large windows and not ruin your pictures. 

Avoid wearing loose items, such as scarves or hats, that may be prone to blowing around in the wind. It is advisable to leave behind bulk bags or unnecessary belongings, as space inside the helicopter is limited. 

How to get to Redhill Airport? 

The easiest way to get there is to take a cab from London to the airport. If you wish, you can also take a train at London Bridge Railway station to Redhill train station. From there, you'll need to hail a cab to close the short distance between the train station and Redhill airport.

35-minute sightseeing tour of London by private helicopter

Treat yourself to a scenic helicopter flight over London's landmarks and the scenic Surrey countryside.

Your day will begin at Redhill Aerodrome where you'll take in the views across a busy active airfield. After a short safety briefing with one of the commercial pilots you'll board your helicopter for a 35-minute flight.

Your pilot will head across the countryside and enter the Heathrow Control Zone. Then you'll pass into central London and cross over the River Thames at Barnes. Your pilot will then follow the route of the river at just above the height of the Shard , offering breathtaking aerial views of the landmarks and attractions from a unique vantage point.

As you're flying along your pilot will be providing some helpful commentary so you don't miss any of the sights -- in between talking to air traffic control.

Note: EBG Helicopters usually operate a Robinson R44 helicopter, which gives every passenger a window seat. But they also use a modern Airbus EC120, which affords a great view out of the windscreen from the centre rear seat (all of the other seats are beside windows).

Flights are also subject to suitable weather conditions. If the weather takes a turn for the worse then you will be offered an alternative date instead. All passengers must also provide photographic ID.
