Carlos King is the latest to take his podcast on the road, touring his Reality with the King weekly in 2024.

Most dates and guests on the tour are forthcoming, but the first stop is set for Jan. 21 in Huntsville, Alabama, where King will be joined by Love & Marriage: Huntsville castmember Melody Shari.

“Since launching Reality with the King last year, I’ve been amazed by our listeners’ passion for the podcast and for the guests I’ve been able to interview,” said King. “The Reigndrops’ feedback has been crucial to our success, and they’ve been blowing up my DMs asking for a live tour. They asked, we listened and we’re thrilled to kick off the tour and the new year with Melody.”

After rising through the reality ranks, particularly as a producer on several iterations of The Real Housewives , King began creating his own series and even briefly hosted his own talk show, OWN’s The Nightcap with Carlos King, in 2022.

The King of Reality TV has amassed millions of viewers by creating and executive producing successful shows such as the Love and Marriage franchise on OWN to BET Presents: The Encore . King is affectionately regarded as the “ King of Reality TV ” when it comes to his Midas touch. During the sixth season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, King executive produced the highest rated season ever for not only the franchise, but for the Bravo network as a whole. Gucci Mane & Keyshia Ka’Oir’s wedding series, The Mane Event, debuted as the highest rated series premiere for the 2017-18 schedule. Love and Marriage: Huntsville debuted in 2019 and immediately became a breakout hit as the first show on the network in 5 years to see a ratings growth from its first season to the second.

King’s career has also blossomed in front of the camera. Not only does he host various reunion shows, he is also the host of late night talk show The Nightcap with Carlos King on the Oprah Winfrey Network. King also host the hit podcast, Reality with the King, that reached #1 on the TV/Film charts on Apple podcast.

An unscripted commentator and purveyor, King and his Kingdom Reign Entertainment shingle produce WE TV’s  Grown & Gospel  and the popular  Love & Marriage  franchise on OWN — its Huntsville and Detroit-set offerings just recently renewed, while the D.C. version is due to air new episodes in January. He launched his podcast,  Reality with the King , in April 2022 and has since brought in more than 7 million downloads. Marquee guests have included NeNe Leakes, Teresa Giudice and Megan McCain.

Carlos King, creator and exec producer of OWN’s  Love & Marriage , is hosting a late-night series for the Oprah Winfrey-led cabler.

The Discovery-backed broadcaster is moving into the genre with  The Nightcap with Carlos King.

The series, which is in the same vein as  Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen , will premiere on May 14 at 10pm, after the launch of  Love & Marriage: D.C,  the network’s first-ever franchise spinoff.

In  The Nightcap , King will welcome guests from OWN’s most popular shows to let their hair down and break down their juiciest storylines. Carlos King, renowned producer and TV personality, is taking his hit podcast “Reality with the King” on the road. King, the force behind such hit series as OWN’s Love & Marriage franchise and WE tv’s Grown & Gospel, will host the live podcast tapings at venues across the country and will be joined on stage by some of unscripted’s brightest stars to break the fourth wall and dish on what really goes on off-camera.

The Reality with the King Tour kicks off January 21, 2024 at venue Stand Up Live in Huntsville, AL, where King will be joined by Love & Marriage: Huntsville star Melody Shari. Love & Marriage: Huntsville star set to walk in New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week

New York, NY (September 7, 2023) –  High-powered businesswoman and  Love & Marriage: Huntsville  (OWN)  star  Melody Shari  is widely known for making bold moves in real estate, TV/Film, and the beauty industry. However, she is now taking the fashion world by storm, punctuated by a brilliant collaboration with high-profile celebrity stylist and creative director,  J. Bolin .

Whoever crafted the lineup for the New Haven stop of Eric Bellinger’s Obsession Tour had their finger on the pulse of pop culture – all the artists are talented multihyphenates, and the common thread was their R&B discography.

The night at Toad’s Place started with a warmup with Melody Shari. She performed her whole discography – which consists of 2 songs as of the writing of this article. Though it did seem disjointed from the rest of the night’s lineup stylistically and timewise, I still enjoyed her set. 

The next performer is not new to the music scene, but hadn’t released her own music until recently. Even if her bright red suit or her signature blue hair didn’t catch your eye, GoGo Morrow’s vocal performance commanded your attention. The songstress struck a nice balance between slow jams and punchy tracks, with energetic backup dancers enhancing the performance. With a long list of accomplishments as a performer under her belt, she’s got the making for a strong artist in wherever she wants to go. I hope to have the privilege to see her live again and see how she grows.

Trevor Jackson brought the heat up a notch from the moment he entered on stage. As if he hadn’t already mesmerized the crowd with his performance, later in the set he jumped the barricade and joined the audience for part of his performance, exciting the crowd with the surprise visit. With how well known he is, it was refreshing to see how much he trusted his audience and rewarded them with his up-close presence.

Before the man of the night came out, a crew set up three giant picture frames as props on stage – perhaps as a nod to his affinity for trilogies? The setup had a nice framing effect of the three musical elements on stage: the DJ, the guitarist, and Bellinger himself. Bellinger has such a rich discography to pull from, and he made great use of it when executing his setlist. Starting off the night with “Obsession,” a track from his latest album, 1(800)HIT-EAZY: Line 2 , he weaved his way through his discography, performing songs from his discography as early as The Rebirth .

Initially when I saw that Bellinger was coming to New Haven to perform at the local dance club/small concerts venue, I admit that I was a little perplexed, considering how big of a name he is. After seeing what the team did with the show, I’m beginning to understand the decision to choose a smaller venue in order to create an intimate version of a tour stop. From the get-go fans had connected with Bellinger, matching his energy and singing the verses word-for-word, even on tracks that were only recently released. Until the very end he had his audience enthralled. It truly was a treat to watch an artist who has perfected his craft early in his career, and yet he will continue to soar. Not even the sky is the limit for Eric Bellinger.

*Celebrities, business influencers, and community leaders descended upon the Biltmore Ballrooms in Atlanta on Saturday for edition IV of Mimosas with Melody  hosted by Reality TV Star and businesswoman Melody Shari Rodgers. The luxurious black-tie affair, themed  “A Time for Change,” was punctuated by an appearance by actor, author, and U.S. Senate candidate Hill Harper, who is campaigning for a senate seat in the state of Michigan.  The event also served as a fundraiser.

Among special guests were actress and model  Claudia Jordan , businesswoman  Courtney Adeleye , actress and singer  Drew Sidora,  who received the  “Woman on the Rise Award” , businesswoman  Dr. Chanita Foster , beauty and hair mogul  Tamika Gibson , who received the  “Woman on Purpose Award,” product developer and podcaster Queen Sheba Darling , celebrity stylist J. Bolin , celebrity publicist Ivan Thomas , financial investor Chris Sain , and other community and business leaders.

Discussion topics centered on how to improve unity within the black community, relationships, entrepreneurship, and leveraging the power of the black dollar, among other topics – moderated by Claudia Jordan. For the first time in the  Mimosas with Melody  series, there was both a women’s and men’s panel. However, the highlight of the evening was the keynote speech by Harper.

Rodgers, known as the star of OWN’s #1 show Love & Marriage: Huntsville, was excited about the small change to the programming.

“It is typically an event about inspiring women, but this time I believed it was time to inspire our entire race,” she said. “My good friend Hill is running for the U.S. Senate, so this year I made it a co-ed event to include our first ever men’s panel. It’s all about like-minded people coming together to show support and unity.”

Harper is in the midst of a daunting Democratic primary race for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat against rival and front-runner Elissa Slotkin.  The acclaimed actor ( The Good Doctor, CSI: NY ), author, philanthropist, and Harvard Law School classmate of President Barack Obama is on a mission to help “fix America’s broken system” by addressing poverty, labor and the middle class.

“There are 100 people (in the Senate) who determine where 7.3 trillion dollars go every year,” he said.  “This is not the government’s money. This is our money, but we don’t claim it because we don’t collectively put people in office who deliver for us. They make promises but they don’t deliver. I will deliver for you.”

Melody Shari Of ‘Love & Marriage Huntsville’ Talks Purpose And Ownership

Entrepreneur, singer, and reality TV star Melody Shari , widely known as the vibrant fan-favorite on The Oprah Winfrey Network’s (OWN) hit TV show, Love & Marriage: Huntsville , is continuing to defy the odds and accumulate more ownership and freedom.

As the hit reality show wraps up its sixth season, fans remain centered on the drama surrounding Melody’s recent divorce from ex-husband Martell Holt . Behind the scenes, the Alabama native remains laser-focused on building an empire and a legacy of impact while raising her four children.

Speaking with BLACK ENTERPRISE , Melody, 37, talks about being a multimillionaire since the age of 28 and launching three companies since dissolving the lawncare and real estate businesses she led with her ex-husband for more than a decade. The divorce drama has played out on all six seasons of the “LAMH,” with Melody being forced to hash out proceedings and custody rights in the public eye.

When it comes to sharing her private life, the 7th Avenue Beauty founder says it “hasn’t been very hard.” That’s what she signed up for when she pitched the show to Carlos King.

“I kind of came in with the idea that I would be transparent and be straightforward about my life, about my business, about my family, and what I was dealing with in my marriage as that began to occur,” she tells BLACK ENTERPRISE .

“having that mindset out the gate from the beginning, that’s a choice that I made.”

Melody has been focused on moving past her divorce by placing more emphasis on rising as a powerhouse business maven. The multimillionaire entrepreneur has three successful businesses including her skincare line, her Tilted Crowns Productions, and her property preservation and real estate business. Using her mantra “God Said Go,” Melody aims to serve as inspiration on how to build a life of financial freedom and peace after divorce.

“It just comes naturally for me. God has been training me for this since childhood,” she said.

She grew up heavily involved in extracurricular activities while watching entrepreneurship carry her family legacy. Between her mom’s cleaning business and her uncles, who were farmers, Melody grew up knowing the importance of Black ownership.

The OWN star is also a proud philanthropist who consistently donates money for teachers to assist in purchasing school supplies for their classrooms. During the Christmas season, she does giveaways, and through her property preservation business, she teaches other entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs how to achieve financial freedom. To date, she has created 600 new entrepreneurs and frequently is contacted by students who share how her program has elevated their lives.

When asked what she has up next, Melody teased we should “Stay tuned.” But, just days after our interview, fashion powerhouse J. Bolin announced his “Melody x JBolin” Collection “MELO HEAT.”

“At Melo-Heat, we’re all about bringing the heat and spreading positive vibes,” she said of the new collection.

Melody Shari Takes Care Of Business On Love & Marriage: Huntsville - Exclusive Interview

It takes a strong constitution to let cameras follow you around while you run your business. It's another thing entirely to let them follow you into your marriage. Melody Shari began her act of bravery four seasons ago when she and her then-husband Martel, along with several other couples, allowed reality television viewers into their lives on OWN's "Love & Marriage: Huntsville." 

Produced by reality TV expert Carlos King , "Love & Marriage: Huntsville" follows four couples as they run a development company together. But the show quickly became more about the relationships between the couples and between each other. And when Melody and Martel's marriage began to crumble, Melody had to contend with not only the interpersonal relationships impacted by her divorce but also the firestorm of public opinion . By all accounts, Melody's journey to single parenting has been yet another act of bravery and strength. Melody is a whirling dervish of activity, as will certainly be apparent to fans who watched the season premiere on September 10 on OWN. She told us all about what to expect in the new season in this exclusive interview with The List. 

What to expect in Season 5

What can fans expect to see this season?

It's a continuation of a lot of the conversations that have transpired in the first half of the year, but also, going a little bit deeper, showing those different dynamics of friendships, relationships, and business. If you thought the first half of the year was something, this second half is a whole 'nother roller coaster. Put your seatbelts on, because it is going to be such a change of dynamic throughout this whole second half. I don't know if you all are ready.

A lot of the teasers for this season have hinted that there will be a "smoothing out" in your relationship with your ex-husband, Martel. Can you give us a hint what "smoothing out" means?

The audience has seen the marriage, the divorce , all of that, throughout the entire show. They've seen a lot of the ups and downs. In this part of the show, you guys get to see where we come together, where we're all in the same place with the kiddos and doing a family trip. That's why they say smoothing out, so to speak — nothing beyond that. 

I take the kids to Destin every year. My youngest daughter is two, and I wanted to be able to invite my ex and his mother along, and my mom too, so she could experience a trip with all of us together. This is what we used to do; we used to all take trips together. I made the decision to allow that to happen, and you guys get to see us in the same space. The first half of this year, you didn't even see us filming together because I told production out of the gate that I'm unable to do that. I had to protect my peace. By the time we get to the second half, I'm like, "Okay, let's see how it goes," so you guys get to see us on a family trip.

When the cameras aren't rolling

Do you get any downtime? What do you do when the cameras aren't rolling? 

We had a little bit of downtime. We're done filming all of this season. We finished everything in August, and it's just now about to start airing, so you guys will see things filmed in May, June, July, and August. I'll be honest with you, I don't get downtime.

When I'm not filming, I take maybe a week or two to relax and get a breather. Then I'm right back on grind mode with all of my other businesses and endeavors. From my skincare line to my production company, to my master class that I teach, to acting, and then, of course, my babies ... I'm still busy. I stay busy; it doesn't stop for me. I take all that energy that I put into filming and I put that energy into my other endeavors.

Whenever you're filming and having to be on, it can be draining. You may only be on set for five or six hours, but it feels like 12 or 15. Because of that, sometimes you may not be able to give as much to your other businesses. I try to work hard to ensure that even when I am filming, I'm still taking care of business. When I'm not filming, it's double or triple time for me.

Melody Shari shines a spotlight on Huntsville

What part of your work on "Love & Marriage: Huntsville" are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of putting some spotlight on Alabama. Alabama is one of those states where when it comes to arts and entertainment, it hasn't been at the top of the list. Your New York, LA, Atlanta, Chicago — those are the biggest entertainment areas. [I love] being able to show that, yes, in Alabama, we have talent here and there is talent here. Putting a spotlight on Huntsville, in particular, has been the thing that I've been most proud of.

What is your favorite spot in the city of Huntsville?

I'm going to give you a few things. Restaurant-wise, I love going to Connor's . That's my favorite spot where I love to eat. But in downtown Huntsville, we have a beautiful park there. A lot of times, you see people out riding bikes and you see musicians out playing. We have Panoply that happens every year, which deals with the arts. You've got the Huntsville Museum of Art downtown. I love being in downtown Huntsville, for sure.

Melody helps others take care of their skin

Tell us about Seventh Avenue.

Seventh Avenue Premier Skincare is the skincare line that I launched in February. It is natural, vegan, and paraben-free. I actually have a female Black chemist — who's been a chemist for over 18 years — who I worked with to formulate my products. We can't keep stuff in stock, that's how fast everything sells out. We've gotten a lot of support, and people are getting amazing results.

Seventh Avenue is actually the street I grew up on, so that's where I learned the importance of, as a young girl, taking care of myself, taking care of my body, taking care of my skin. There are a lot of things my great-grandmother taught me, so when I had to rebrand, I knew that I wanted it to mean something. Hence, we have Seventh Avenue.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Brundidge, Alabama, which is about four hours south of Huntsville. It's very small, one red light, the population is probably about 1000. I love the fact that I grew up in a very small town, because the love — everybody treats you like family. It was an amazing experience for me growing up in a small town; I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring.
