Listen to this article

Miley Cyrus season is officially in full swing. A new era has finally begun but will there be an Endless Summer Vacation Tour ?

It's hard to believe it but it's now almost 10 years since Miley Cyrus went on her last world tour. In the time since, she ended her Bangerz Tour, Miley Cyrus has released multiple hit singles (' Malibu ', ' Midnight Sky ', ' Mothers Daughter '), multiple hit albums ( Younger Now , Plastic Hearts etc. ), an EP ( She Is Coming ) and a brilliant live album ( Attention ).

In January, Miley launched her Endless Summer Vacation era with the record-breaking number 1 single ' Flowers '. Now, the album is here and demand to see Miley perform live is higher than ever. What has she said about a potential tour though?

Here's everything we know so far about Miley's Endless Summer Vacation Tour including tour dates, tour stops, ticket prices, where you can find presale codes and everything in between.

Is Miley Cyrus going on tour in 2023?

Will there be an Endless Summer Vacation Tour?

As it stands, Miley is yet to confirm whether or not she will be going on tour in support of her new Endless Summer Vacation album. However, given how much Miley loves performing live, and how popular 'Flowers' is, it seems very likely that a tour will happen.

Miley released her last album, Plastic Hearts , during 2020 when touring was still difficult due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the world more open now, we imagine that Miley will be eager to go on tour.

In the meantime, you can watch Miley perform songs from Endless Summer Vacation live on Disney+ in her brand new Backyard Sessions.

Endless Summer Vacation Tour dates: When is Miley Cyrus going on tour in 2023?

There is currently no information on if/when Miley Cyrus will go on tour. That being said, if she does do an Endless Summer Vacation Tour , it's possible that she will start the tour in spring/summer after the album comes out on March 10th. In other words, get your savings ready because you could be seeing Miley live imminently.

Bookmark this page and we'll update you with more info as soon as it's announced.

Miley Cyrus 2023 tour locations: What cities will Miley Cyrus play in?

Miley Cyrus is yet to reveal where she will next be going on tour. However, given that it's been almost an entire decade since her last world tour, we reckon that Miley will be aiming to play to as many of her fans as possible.

For her last world tour, Miley performed in Europe, North America, Oceania and South America. Our bet is that the Endless Summer Vacation Tour will feature dates in all of these places, in particular in the US and the UK.

Miley has done arena tours in the past and we imagine that her next tour will include arenas. That being said, given how popular 'Flowers' is, it's also possible that she will be considering playing stadiums this tour.

Miley Cyrus Endless Summer Vacation tour presale codes: How to find a presale code for your country

Miley is yet to reveal any presale information for an upcoming tour. However, most major artists use similar presale formats. If Miley follows in the footsteps of artists like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, she will probably have a Citi Verified Fan Presale in the US and an O2 Priority Presale in the UK.

There may also be LiveNation and fan presales so make sure you're signed up to Miley's mailing list via her website. Scroll down to the bottom of her main page and enter your information: HERE .

Miley Cyrus Endless Summer Vacation tour ticket prices: How much will the tickets to Miley's tour be?

Prices for Miley Cyrus' next tour are yet to be confirmed. Tickets for her Bangerz Tour started at £47.50 in the UK and went up to £1000 for meet and greets. It's likely that Miley's new tour prices will be slightly higher given that she's only become more popular since Bangerz came out. We imagine that her prices will be similar to other major artists.

For comparison, these are the UK stadium prices for Beyoncé's upcoming Renaissance World Tour.

  • Seated - £56.25 to £199
  • Standing - £106.80
  • Gold Circle - £177.50

May the odds be ever in your favour when booking tickets.

Miley Cyrus Endless Summer Vacation tour setlist: What songs will she play?

Over the course of her legendary career to date, Miley has released seven studio albums, two EPs, multiple live albums and five soundtrack albums as Hannah Montana . With Endless Summer Vacation now here, Miley has hundreds of iconic songs to pick from.

Like most of Miley's previous tours, it seems likely that the Endless Summer Vacation Tour will mainly feature songs of the album it's promoting alongside her biggest hits. Expect to hear 'Flowers' alongside the likes of 'Midnight Sky' and 'The Climb'.

As usual, we won't know the setlist until the first date of the tour. Return to this page then to find out what she plays.

Miley Cyrus Gives Lollapalooza the Wild Party It Craves on Night One

By Nina Corcoran

Nina Corcoran

Teenagers aren’t typically known for being on time, but the crowd waiting to enter Lollapalooza on Thursday morning proved that generalization wrong. “By 11:30 a.m., it was already poppin’, and usually it’s dead then,” a 25-year-old woman told her friends while waiting for Jimmy Eat World to take the stage. She was right. Thousands of fans arrived early this year in hopes of staking out good sightlines, posing for photo ops, and roaming their first music festival in two years. Wearing fishnet stockings and cowboy hats galore, this crowd was eager to celebrate. Who better to lead the charge than the woman who’s given America more than one of its greatest party anthems?

For months, the thought of Lollapalooza actually taking place felt like a fever dream. Instead of delaying the event for a second time in response to growing fears around the new Covid-19 strain, organizers mandated vaccination cards and negative tests for entry into the festival and opened the gates. What appeared to be the entire festival population squished onto Grant Park’s Hutchinson Field to queue for Miley Cyrus ‘ headlining set on Night One, shoulders touching as they held phones and cameras in the air.

“It’s our party/We can do what we want” — the distorted vocal clip that opens “We Can’t Stop” — rang out to youthful screams from the audience, setting the tone for a carefree evening. Cyrus quickly segued into the Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?,” the first of many cover songs. During quarantine, Cyrus earned a huge career break when her cover of Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” at iHeart Festival went viral, winning over jaded listeners and classic rock aficionados alike. Say what you will about her, she is one hell of a singer.  Her Lollapalooza rendition was equally sharp. Utilizing the full-bodied depth of her raspy voice, Cyrus sang like she had something to prove, sending a chill down listeners’ spines as she scaled each note in sync with Debbie Harry’s original delivery.

Miley showed off her continuing clout in the music business by bringing out a string of unexpected guest stars. Billy Idol joined her for Plastic Hearts track “Night Crawling” and a faithful rendition of “White Wedding” that energized the crowd. Next came Chicago’s own G Herbo for “Love Money Party,” followed by Wiz Khalifa & Juicy J for Mike WiLL Made-It’s “23.” She even brought out rising Australian star The Kid LAROI to perform his breakout single “Without You.” These cameos were so casual that Cyrus often introduced her guests as they exited the stage, as if they’d been too caught up in the moment to remember to exchange names.

Editor’s picks

The 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history, every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term.

Despite all the famous friends coming and going, it was the overarching power of Miley’s voice that stole the show. She can belt loud enough to fill a city skyline and slide into falsettos with ease without damaging her vocal cords. That range helped tie together what might otherwise have been the most divergent parts of her set: Covers of Cher and Temple of the Dog were authoritative, her teenage hits sounded mature and passionate, and even her pallid Wayne Coyne collaboration sounded purposeful onstage.

Midway through her performance, I found myself questioning if Miley Cyrus is underappreciated. Maybe that’s a foolish question, considering her lifelong fame and success, but it seemed to be on the crowd’s mind, too: As she kicked into each new song, onlookers let out excited gasps, as if they’d forgotten  she was responsible for so many hits.

A performance filled with goosebump-raising tributes, unexpected stars, and Radio Disney staples might have been the ideal scenario for Lollapalooza’s big first night back. By hopping from cheery pop to edgy hip-hop to breezy folk, and, now, to throwback glam-rock, Cyrus has forgone what might have been a top spot on the pop ladder — but that career path has given her a deep catalog of pleasantly omnipresent singles that are perfect for a festival setting.

As she launched into older singles like “The Climb” and “7 Things,” I saw two sets of strangers on either side of me grasping their friends’ hands, squealing in unison, and recounting the precise years and places those songs transported them back to, often jumping in unison as if bouncing on their childhood bed during a sleepover. For these fans, Cyrus’ music was associated with positive memories and carefree feelings, a particularly soothing balm compared to the routine anxiety of pandemic life.

After interviewing dozens of attendees about their vaccination checkpoint experiences, one 19-year-old fan from Indiana stuck out in particular. His friend, he said, had been denied entry after she couldn’t prove that her 15-minute Covid-19 test results belonged to her; she darted across the city to find a suitable replacement test and returned, more than an hour later, with a new negative result in hand. Watching Cyrus’ performance, I understood why so many fans like her had scrambled to get into the festival as soon as possible. Experiencing an unpredictable moment in music history as a collective group, unanimously rapt with attention and joy, is a unique type of high that music fans crave. Last night, Miley Cyrus gave that crowd what it needed.

Miley Cyrus Announces Bangerz Tour Dates, Coming to Miami During Ultra Music Festival

Twerkin' is the best way to celebrate any holiday.

Do it on a pumpkin. Do it on a Turkey. Do it atop a Christmas tree. Do it on a giant candy heart that reads "U R GR8." Do it on a wrecking ball while naked and screaming, "We Can't Stop!," at an stadium-sized rave in downtown Miami.

Just ask over-the-top ratchet white-girl party princess Miley Cyrus, who'll be twerkin' to Bangerz all across the continent, from Valentine's Day in Vancouver to Ultra Music Festival time (or at least what'll likely be its first weekend ) in the MIA.

Miley Cyrus is one of the most influential artists in pop culture. She has five #1 albums including her 2013 GRAMMY-nominated album Bangerz, that is also certified 3x platinum in the U.S., five sold-out world tours and 36 million digital tracks sold in the US alone.

In 2015 she released her free, 23-track surprise experimental album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, co-produced by Wayne Coyne and other Flaming Lips members. Her sixth album, Younger Now, which was released in 2017, exceeded 1.7 billion streams worldwide.

In the summer of 2019, Cyrus dropped the EP, SHE IS COMING. The EP debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart with the track, “Mother’s Daughter,” garnering 150 million streams worldwide.

In September Cyrus released, “Slide Away,” which currently has 133 million Spotify streams worldwide, with the accompanying video reaching 32 million views in less than a month. Cyrus also collaborated with Ariana Grande and Lana Del Rey on the soundtrack for the 2019 reboot of Charlie’s Angels with the song “Don’t Call Me Angel.“ The song set the record for biggest single-day streams for an all-female collaboration in Spotify History.

In June she starred in an episode of Netflix Black Mirror titled 'Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too'. The standout role had Cyrus playing pop star Ashley O and featured the track “On A Roll,” which earned 80 million streams, topping the TV Songs chart. Cyrus joins a shortlist of singers who have charted under three separate names but is especially rare as she has had two of these chart positions with acting roles.

In late 2018, Cyrus collaborated with Mark Ronson on the hit song, “Nothing Breaks Like A Heart,” the first single off his upcoming fifth album. Since its release, the now platinum-certified track has garnered 392 million streams and more than 159 million video views.

In addition to her success in music, performing and touring around the world and over a decade of experience in television, Cyrus founded the non-profit organization The Happy Hippie Foundation to rally young people to fight injustice. Since launching, the foundation has provided direct support to thousands of homeless and LGBTQ youth across the country. Cyrus also helped launch the Malibu Foundation to support the community of Malibu and its neighbours as they work to rebuild after the Woolsey Fire.

Live reviews

Well known for her questionable attire and twerking, going to a live performance by Miley Cyrus is going to be wild…no question about it. Whether she’s prancing around the stage in something resembling her underwear, or sticking her tongue out in her trademark style, no two Cyrus shows are the same. Her extreme teen pop vibe, however much bad press it receives, has launched her to fame and success.

If you think the likes of Rhianna’s shows are full of energy, Miley Cyrus’ is doubled, if not tripled. You wonder where she gets it from, but upon looking closer, it materialises that she in fact trains pretty hard alongside her dancers. Ultimately, she loves to put on a good show with outrageous costumes, special effects, and set, which are visually astounding.

She always makes sure to play her most well known songs, and it was fantastic when she sang ‘The Climb’, reminding the audience how she started out as Hannah Montanna star. Wow has she come a long way! Just fantastic.

Coachella 2024 Lineup & Schedule: See Every Performer Set Time for Weekend 2 Here

By Njera Perkins and Sara Delgado

Doja Cat Tyler the Creator Lana Del Rey

Get ready to party in the desert with the biggest names in music. Coachella weekend one was one for the books, and we finally have the Coachella 2024 lineup, schedule, and set times for weekend two to make sure you don't miss anyone you want to see.

Just in case you've been living under a rock, the full Coachella 2024 lineup was unveiled back in January with some exciting headliners billed. Lana Del Rey , Tyler, The Creator , and Doja Cat head up the iconic festival for its return to the Empire Polo Club grounds in Indio, California. You might be wondering, “OK, but aside from the headliners, who else is performing at Coachella 2024?” And the answer is… a lot of people.

Other notable acts performing this year are No Doubt, Peso Pluma, Lil Uzi Vert, ATEEZ, Peggy Gou, Young Miko, Sabrina Carpenter , Skepta, FLO, Tinashe, Suki Waterhouse , Chappell Roan , Chlöe , Ice Spice , Sublime, Bleachers, Grimes, Jon Batiste, LE SSERAFIM , Blxst, Kevin Abstract, RAYE, J Balvin, Jhené Aiko, Khruangbin, Lil Yachty, Reneé Rapp , Bebe Rexha , Coi Leray , NAV, Tems , Victoria Monét , Taking Back Sunday, 88RISING FUTURES, Olivia Dean, Bb trickz, and many, many more. (South African superstar Tyla, who was originally part of the lineup, unfortunately dropped out due to an injury .)

The complete lineup of 2024 Coachella performers features over 150 artists across six stages, with one of the most globally representative and genre-diverse lineups in years, which you can check out below:

Coachella 2024 lineup poster

Last year, Bad Bunny , BLACKPINK , and Frank Ocean served as headliners of the festival, plus Blink-182 after Ocean dropped out of his second-weekend performance due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg. His long-anticipated Coachella appearance came three years after he was initially slated to headline, as the music festival postponed its 2020 event amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, for its third time back after its pandemic hiatus, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will again take place across two consecutive weekends, April 12–14 and April 19–21. Lana Del Rey kicks the festival off on the Friday dates, followed by Tyler, The Creator on both Saturdays, and Doja Cat will close everything out on both Sunday dates.

Rumors about the trio of headliners swirled for weeks before Coachella made the official announcement. In early January, Dua Lipa was believed to be one of the headliners, but rumoredly passed due to scheduling conflicts; it's also rumored that Shakira was passed as a headliner by Coachella organizers, reported HitsDailyDouble .

Whether you have tickets for either weekend or are planning on streaming online from the comfort of your home , the key to making the most of Coachella is knowing when your favorite artists are going to hit the stage, so below, check out our full guide to Coachella 2024, including info on the headlining roster as well as specific set times for weekend two.

Friday Dates

Lana Del Rey kicked off Coachella on April 12, and she takes the stage again on April 19. Del Rey is certainly no stranger to the festival. She first debuted there a decade ago in 2014 and was slated to perform again in 2020 before the festival was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, this marks the 2024 Grammy nominee’s first time serving as a Coachella headliner. Reflecting on her Coachella experience right after her 2014 performance, Del Rey shared in a backstage interview that it was “pretty life-changing.” Let’s see what she says after she takes over the main stage as a top biller.

For weekend two, Lana Del Rey is expected to take the Coachella main stage at 11:20 p.m. PT.

  • Young Miko — 4:45 p.m. PT at the Coachella main stage
  • Sabrina Carpenter — 6 p.m. PT at the Coachella main stage

Saturday Dates

For the third time as a solo performer, Tyler, the Creator hit the stage at Coachella, this time as a headliner on April 13 and April 20. His first appearance at the music festival happened in 2011 as a member of his former rap collective, Odd Future. He also performed in 2023 as a treat during Kali Uchis’s set, where the two reunited for their Flower Boy collaboration “See You Again.”

The announcement of Tyler’s headlining Coachella set arrives almost one year after he released the deluxe version of his Grammy-winning album Call Me If You Get Lost . Over the last two years, he’s treated fans to elaborate live performances of his album cuts at festivals like Something in the Water and Lollapalooza, so there’s no telling what kind of mind-blowing theatrics he’ll bring to Coachella 2024 — though we’re sure they won’t disappoint.

Tyler, The Creator is expected to take the Coachella main stage during weekend two at 11:40 p.m. PT.

  • Blur — 7:40 p.m. PT at the Coachella main stage

Sunday Dates

Doja Cat returns to Coachella this year to perform on April 14 and April 21. She made her grand debut in 2022, delivering a standout performance that could have absolutely served as a headlining set. This year, she’ll have to top her previous spectacle with an even more breathtaking production. But how could she outdo the elaborate sets of her ongoing Scarlet tour, you ask? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

During weekend two, Doja Cat is expected to take the Coachella main stage at 10:25 p.m. PT.

  • YG Marley — 4:05 p.m. PT at the Coachella main stage

‘Gay Pop’ Is the Moment, and Right Now, Chappell Roan Is Its Queen

FEMININOMENON

JoJo Siwa wants to be the “chief marketing officer” for gay pop, but Chappell has already stolen the gig without even trying.

Chappell Roan’s debut album might chart The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess , but in the world of pop, she’s going nowhere but up. The Missouri-born singer-songwriter and her mop of red hair have been inescapable on pretty much every social platform. She’s been opening for (and kissing ) Olivia Rodrigo on the Guts World Tour, dancing to her own music in front of Red Lobster , and got us all doing the treadmill strut . At this point, Roan is basically the chief marketing officer for gay pop. But, wait, didn’t someone else just say they wanted that job?

Last week, JoJo Siwa got roasted to oblivion for saying she wanted to “start” a new music genre called “gay pop.” (Pronounced like “K-pop,” but with “gay” instead.) Folks including Betty Who and the beloved duo Tegan and Sara raised their eyebrows, prompting Siwa to walk back her statements and explain that she never meant she wanted to invent a new genre—no, no—she simply wants to “be a piece of making it bigger than it already is.” The “Karma” singer added that, although she’s “not the president [of gay pop],” she’d like to be the CMO “and use my marketing tactics whether people like it or not.”

To be clear, there’s plenty of room in the pop world for all of the JoJo Siwas and Chappell Roans, especially as queer artists continue to conquer other genres including rock (see: boygenius ), rap ( Lil Nas X ), country ( Orville Peck ), and R&B (Janelle Monae and Frank Ocean ). What’s fascinating here is the mirror image that these two represent—one, an industry-approved star working very, very hard to leave her kiddie-music days behind by solidifying herself as an edgy, queer artist; the other, a performer whose debut album was almost a decade in the making and only came together after she’d moved to Hollywood at 17, gotten kicked off her record label a few years later, lost all her money, and moved back in with her parents while working at a drive-through coffee kiosk. Taken together, these two artists’ trajectories offer a fascinating window into the State of Gay Pop Today.

As Siwa acknowledged, gay pop has a long, storied legacy. The list of artists is too long to include here, but consider artists like Elton John , Freddie Mercury, Sylvester, Boy George, Prince , and RuPaul , alongside newer acts like Hayley Kiyoko , Troye Sivan, Kim Petras , Sam Smith , Halsey , and Fletcher. Generally, we might define gay pop as having a few unifying features: a personal perspective, often shaped by living (and working, writing, creating) on the margins; a sense of humor and understanding of camp; some theatrical flair; and a mischievous thirst for transgression, either colorful or spiky.

It’s not hard to understand why Roan’s music has taken off. (Just this week, she made her debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.) In every possible way, she feels in tune with the moment. From her drag-inspired make-up, to her big wigs, to the lipstick on her teeth during a recent Tiny Desk Concert, this woman is oozing camp from her pores—and that’s not even mentioning the time she gave herself a Penelope nose on an album cover. Roan’s lyrics are personal, confessional, and, sometimes, wickedly funny. As seen in tracks like “ Femininomenon ,” she can swing from plaintive ballad vibes to a dance beat to meta-textual commentary in a matter of seconds. (“ Um , can you play a song with a fucking beat?”) That approach puts her in line with fellow pop stars like Taylor Swift and Rodrigo (with whom she shares a producer), whose lyrics tell personal stories while, in some cases, establishing some ironic distance. Roan has the strutty verve of Lady Gaga and the giggly, sung-from-the-chest vocals of Katy Perry , and to top it all off—and to use that oh-so important descriptor for contemporary artists—she somehow makes it all look relatable.

... And then there’s JoJo Siwa, who grew up on Dance Moms and apparently drives a car covered in her own face . Over-the-top antics aren’t exactly anathema to the queer community—just ask Prince, who once turned his guest bedroom into a butterfly sanctuary —but every time Siwa tries to make a bold statement, something feels a little off. In the recently released video for “Karma,” the track that Siwa used to announce that she’s all grown up now, her geometric black-and-white make-up and finned unitard clumsily land somewhere between drag and metal. She spends the video air-humping everyone in sight, but from the blaring music production to her use of “effed around” instead of “fucked around,” it all somehow manages to feel distinctly un-sexy.

In other words, Siwa hits every mark, but she can’t make the choreography look natural. She’s got Kiss make-up on but apparently has no idea who Gene Simmons is. She’s made it clear that she wants to trade in her big bows and young audience for a more mature, subversive persona— her Bangerz era , as she recently framed it—but with this video, she still seems to be playing it just a little too safe. Is she really ready to lose her public goodwill, the way Miley did when she decimated all that remained of her Radio Disney cocoon as a foam-fingered, twerking butterfly? Because, fairly or not, that’s usually what it takes for a young female entertainer to take flight.

For all pop stars, but perhaps especially LGBTQ+ artists, there is a demand for authenticity and disclosure. People want to feel like their favorite artists are just like them, or, at least, that they could become friends if they met in line at Starbucks or wherever. As Siwa and Roan’s inverse trajectories show us, that whole “relatability” thing can be a blessing or a curse.

Both singers come from the Midwest, but at this point, Siwa is more closely identified with the Hollywood machine than her own regional roots. Roan has established herself as a self-made “ thrift store pop star ,” and Siwa solidified her coming-out narrative in 2021 by becoming one half of the first same-sex couple to compete on Dancing with the Stars . Roan maintains an aspirational bestie vibe, while Siwa and her mother have been accused of mistreating a young aspiring singer on their Peacock reality show. (Siwa and her mother denied the allegations through a lawyer to Rolling Stone .) At the same time that Siwa was getting dragged on Instagram for buying her “Karma,” Roan dedicated her own kiss-off, “My Kink Is Karma,” to one of her poor, unfortunate exes, taunting, “Bitch, I know you’re watching.”

In the end, though, the chief lesson we can take from JoJo Siwa and Chappell Roan’s approaches to “gay pop” is a lot simpler than all that. It seems that audiences mostly just want to believe that the artist they’re listening to is actually having fun. While Siwa seems fixated on making gay pop an “ official genre ” of music on platforms like iTunes (and promoting herself as its face), Roan knows the real power of this genre lies with the people who consume it. The true appeal of her brand is that it invites us all into the fun slumber party vibes she’s created with her music. As for the rest? She’s probably too busy twirling her nipple tassels to care.

Things To Do

Subscriber only, things to do | weekend things to do: the 420 choco taco, comedian ron white, las olas wine & food festival, the best events, concerts and festivals this weekend in south florida, from west palm beach and delray beach to fort lauderdale, pompano beach and miami..

The 420 Choco Taco from Coyo Taco will be available at shops in Fort Lauderdale and Miami only Friday through Sunday. (Coyo Taco/Courtesy)

Thanks to the liberal Florida Supreme Court (and in spite of the valiant efforts of Attorney General Ashley Moody), this Saturday may be the last 4/20 celebrated with recreational use of marijuana still illegal in the Sunshine State.

After years of following the lead of enlightened states such as Arkansas and Alabama, Florida is set to allow its residents to decide the legalization question with a November ballot initiative. It just doesn’t seem fair.

But we should probably prepare. Apparently, there is a whole “lifestyle” surrounding marijuana, from music and fashion to food. Don’t get me started on how to roll a joint. I can’t even make a proper martini.

This weekend, especially on Saturday, 4/20 (pronounced “four-twenty”), there will be a variety of opportunities to educate ourselves on the culture and community of cannabis.

For instance, at Fort Lauderdale brewery LauderAle, the 4/20 celebration called Hops & High Notes begins at 4:20 p.m. Saturday and includes two instructional joint-rolling workshops at 6 and 9 p.m. (rolling material and hemp provided, but you can bring your own). There will be  music from Marcus Amaya at 7 p.m. Visit Facebook.com/lauderale .

If you haven’t been there already, Saturday would be a good time to visit El Segundo, a new taco restaurant that marries Mexico City street food and Texas barbecue at The Peach in West Palm Beach ,  an art and hospitality venue operated by the creative community builders at SubCulture Group.

El Segundo will host Smoke & Fire: A 420 Joint on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., with $4.20 tacos and margaritas from noon to 6 p.m., a performance by reggae band Fat Spliffs and more than two dozen vendors.  There also will be a special menu of smoky barbecue craftsmanship from executive chefs Angelo Arboleda and Kevin Avellaneda, as well as special guest Mistah Lee’s Smokin’ Good BBQ, recently voted best barbecue in South Florida by Sun Sentinel readers . Visit Instagram.com/elsegundowpb .

Meanwhile, trendy South Florida taqueria Coyo Taco will have your munchies covered with its version of Klondike’s beloved Choco Taco available this weekend only. The 420 Choco Taco will cost $10 and be on sale Friday through Sunday at Coyo Taco locations in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Wynwood, Brickell, Coral Gables and South Miami.

A collaboration between Coyo Taco executive chef-partner Scott Linquist and Mike Romeu, owner of Kendall artisan ice cream shop Sweet Melody, this special-edition dessert is a riff on the handheld treat that Klondike discontinued in 2022, much to the chagrin of the Choco Taco cult.  The 420 Choco Taco features scratch-made dulce de leche ice cream wrapped in a house-made waffle taco shell coated in cinnamon, sugar and dark chocolate, all topped with a drizzle of caramelized white chocolate and candied Rice Krispies.

The Fort Lauderdale location of Coyo Taco is at 401 E Las Olas Blvd., Suite 150, just north of Las Olas on the side street between YOLO and Bank of America. Weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visit Instagram.com/coyotaco .

Elsewhere, this weekend brings the return of the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival and the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival, and we say goodbye to “Hamilton” and the West Palm Beach GreenMarket.

On your side, ‘Hamilton’: The nationally touring production of the musical “ Hamilton ” that ends its run this weekend at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in downtown West Palm Beach has much to recommend. The hip-hop retelling of the founding of the nation is a cultural touchstone for a generation and a masterwork of creativity, but it’s also richly entertaining and thought-provoking, with more laughs than you might expect. This particular production — especially Blaine Alden Krauss (Alexander Hamilton), Kendyl Sayuri Yokoyama (Eliza Hamilton), Deon’te Goodman (Aaron Burr), Carvens Lissaint (George Washington) and Jared Howelton (Marquis de Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson) — is as powerful as any I’ve witnessed. The performance I saw last Thursday was punctuated by frequent, prolonged applause, culminating in a standing ovation from the all-ages audience. Shows this weekend are scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets (starting at $69+) remain, but not many. Visit Kravis.org .

The nanny: The touring Broadway musical comedy “ Mrs. Doubtfire ” continues its run at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale through Sunday. The story of a divorced out-of-work actor who will do anything to see his kids — disguising himself as a Scottish nanny — stars two-time Tony Award nominee Rob McClure . Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets start at $39 at BrowardCenter.org .

Garden party: The summer Sunset Stroll series gets off to an exciting start at the Morikami Museum & Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach on Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The evening includes Taiko drumming by Fushu Daiko , the Harajuku Meets Otaku fashion show, Sean Danconia’s Pop Surreal Art Show and a tasty lineup of vendors including Kaminari Ramen, Kona Ice, Niigata Sake, Brewsaki and Ramen Lab . Always a tough ticket ($10), the event is currently waitlisted, but I’ve had luck with that before. Future editions of this Summer Stroll are set for May 23, June 13 and Sept. 12. Visit Morikami.org .

Asbury memories: Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes — formative artists on the Jersey Shore rock soundtrack — bring soulful favorites such as “I Don’t Want to Go Home,” “The Fever” and “Love on the Wrong Side of Town” to Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood at 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets start at $39+  at MyHRL.com .

Drinking Las Olas: South Florida’s longest cocktail party (in distance … time-wise it goes like that ) is back this weekend as the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival sets up along five blocks in downtown Fort Lauderdale from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets for all-inclusive general admission cost $160+, which gets you unlimited sampling of dishes from top restaurants, spirits brands, wineries and breweries. VIP tickets (with early entry, a private reception at the Riverside Hotel and an exclusive wine list) cost $250+. All proceeds will benefit the South Florida chapter of the American Lung Association . Visit LasOlasWFF.com .

Brothers Marley: In news that may have nothing to do with 4/20, Bob Marley’s sons Ziggy, Stephen, Julian, Ky-Mani and Damian have announced that tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday for The Marley Brothers: The Legacy Tour , their first tour together in two decades. The tour includes a stop on Oct. 5 at FPL Solar Amphitheatre in downtown Miami . Visit MarleyBrothers.com .

Country at Coco: Country singer Chris Young performs at 8 p.m. Friday at The Stage at Coco Outdoors at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek . Best-known for hits including “The Man I Want to Be,” “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” and “Think of You,” Young released a new album, “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” on March 22. Tickets for the 18-and-older concert start at $50+ at Ticketmaster.com .

Let it go: Revolution Live in downtown Fort Lauderdale will turn itself over to a Disney soundtrack on Friday during Be Our Guest: The Disney DJ Night . Costumes are encouraged for this night of dancing to music from your favorite films and shows, as well as songs from one-time Disney Channel stars such as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and the Jonas Brothers. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets for the 18-and-older party start at $18+. Visit JoinTheRevolution.net .

Friday night live: Transfixing guitarist Ottmar Liebert and his band Luna Negra will perform “the blues of the gypsies” at 8 p.m. Friday in the Amaturo Theater at the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale . Scattered tickets remain, starting at $59.50+, at BrowardCenter.org . … Alabama natives The Brook & The Bluff will share the soulful, infectious grooves heard on new album “Bluebeard” at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale on Friday. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets cost $22.50+ at CultureRoom.net .

See food, eat food: The 38th annual Pompano Beach Seafood Festival returns this weekend with a wide array of seafood and other dishes, more than 100 vendors and a strong lineup of local bands and musicians on two stages. The event takes place at Pompano Beach Community Park on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday’s music lineup includes Vibes Farm (11:30 a.m.), Ploomie Steel Drums (noon), Food for Fish (1:15 p.m.), The Flyers (3:30 p.m.), Andrew Morris (3:30 p.m.), Shaw Davis & The Black Ties (5:15 p.m.), Crazy Fingers (7 p.m.),  Mark Zaden (7 p.m.) and Zac Brown tribute Homegrown (8:30 p.m.). Sunday’s lineup is Shannon Battle (noon), Tasty Vibrations (2 p.m.), 33 Years (3:30 p.m.), Killbillies (3:45 p.m.), Bruce Springsteen tribute The Boss Project (3:45 p.m.) and Ajeva (5:45 p.m.). Linda Perry

Mercury Studios and Utopia Originals have announced the premiere of the feature-length documentary “ Linda Perry : Let It Die Here,” which will make its debut at the upcoming Tribeca Festival 2024.

Popular on Variety

06/06/2024, 8:00 PM at The Indeed Theater at Spring Studios

06/07/2024, 11:30 AM at AMC-02 – Press/Industry Screening

06/09/2024, 5:45 PM at AMC-03

06/12/2024, 9:00 AM at AMC-01 – Press/Industry Screening

According to the announcement, the film is “an intimate look at a  vulnerable and courageous woman as she navigates life-altering personal circumstances amidst gnawing career decisions. Linda’s past and present collide as she seeks to answer the big questions she can no longer avoid: Who am I? Am I loved? What’s my purpose? What will I leave behind?”

Of the film, Perry says, “When I watched this documentary for the first time, I felt proud of how revealing it is, and a little scared. It gave me some clarity, because I was able to separate myself from the character on the screen and feel empathy for her. As much as I love being creative, I will admit that it’s also incredibly taxing at times. I don’t know how to make music without bringing my deepest emotions into it, and doing that can leave me feeling raw and exposed and vulnerable. But, that is the tradeoff. In a way, all artists–who are doing it honestly, anyway–are sacrificing themselves to their art. This is what ‘Let It Die Here’ is about.”

Utopian Soviet Buildings

Utopian Soviet Buildings

  • The Palace of the Soviets instead of the Cathedral of the Christ the Saviour. It could have become one of the highest buildings in the world with a 100 m Lenin statue on the top.
  • The eighth Stalinist skyscraper instead of the Zaryadye Park. It was supposed to be the tallest of all the Sisters.
  • The Narkomtiazhprom (the People’s Commissariat of Heavy Industry) building instead of the GUM. How would the Red Square look like with three skyscrapers or gigantic staircases going all the way up to the 16th floor?
  • The Palace of Labour instead of the Moskva Hotel. What was it, kind of a fantastic beast lying on the square or an ultimate Constructivist manifesto?

"A very enjoybale day in Moscow. We had a very nice and knowledgeable guide Anastasia.(Nastia) She was very passionate about the City and we learnt so much in our brief four hours walk with her! Certainly this walking tour added a lot of value to our Moscow Holiday. A great idea to educate visitors about Russia and Moscow. The group was intimate enough to ask questions and stop for snacks etc..we thoriughly enjoyed it and would highly reccomend it.Carry on doing a great job!"

"I really enjoyed the tour, it was a great experience, very informative and fun. I will definitely tell everybody about that tour, keep it it is a fantastic idea!"

"Sorry I do not remember the names :( ... They were very talkative and very into everything. I think they both really love the city, and they made me feel like this to. They knew much about History, which was very informative! Great guides!!!"

"We partook of the fantastic Petersburg Free Tour. Due to our timing during the low season (shockingly not everyone is flocking to Moscow while the average temperature is 15F), it ended up being just us and Sonia, the afore-mentioned super-guide. ‘We Are So Back’ Is So Back

The phrase has become ubiquitous online as a way to celebrate life’s small pleasures — at least until “it’s so over.”

A crowd cheering in the stands of a football field.

By Madison Malone Kircher

Before Lana Del Rey took the stage at Coachella last weekend, she rode through the crowd on the back of a motorcycle in a sparkly blue dress with her long blond hair flowing in the wind. It was her first performance at the event in a decade, and for some it recalled the bygone era of 2014 — perhaps a simpler time, when the festival was in what many consider its golden age.

In corners of the internet, Ms. Del Rey’s return to Coachella drew murmurs of agreement: We are so back .

Back to what, exactly? Great question. The phrase “we are back” — sometimes upgraded to the even more impassioned “we are so back” — is one half of a popular internet meme. When you’re back, things are good. You’re on top of the world. Your investments are up, your football team is winning, you outplayed an army of bots and scored tickets to see your favorite artist.

Or maybe it’s something even simpler. Two weeks of rain finally broke to reveal a gloriously sunny day. A reality show you like is starting a new season. You made it to the weekend.

The other half of the meme — it’s so over — is for when the chips are down. Your team loses. You have to tell your group chat that you did not score the concert tickets. The rain starts up again. Life, as far as this binary meme is concerned, is a constant fluctuation between being back and being over.

The internet encyclopedia Know Your Meme traces its origins to early 2021 , when, perhaps not unrelated, Covid lockdowns began to ease and many people returned to once-familiar pleasures like dining at restaurants and going to parties.

For Sean Fennessey, a host of the movie-review podcast “The Big Picture,” the phrase helped capture the spirit of watching the entertainment industry recover from the pandemic . He is known to use it often on the podcast, including variations like “We are Johann Sebastian Back.”

“The first movie I went to in a movie theater during Covid was ‘A Quiet Place Part II,’ and I’m sure I uttered ‘We’re so back’ literally in the movie theater,” Mr. Fennessey, 41, said. “When ‘Oppenheimer’ comes out, we’re so back. When ‘Barbie’ comes out, we’re so back. When the new ‘Mission Impossible’ movie comes out, we’re so back.”

But, he continued, “when a beloved auteur’s big swing fails at the box office, we’re dead. It’s over.”

Like most popular memes, “we’re so back” is flexible and capacious. There is almost no scenario in which one cannot be either “over” or “back.” And part of the humor derives from just how quickly something can be over after it is back, as well as from the exaggerated feelings that may accompany each state of being. (Also, the phrase is fun to say. Seriously, try it. We are soooooo back.)

Tom Haynes, a journalist in London, often finds himself saying it while playing with his hockey team. “It’s like you’re describing every minor success, however arbitrary, as the comeback of the century,” Mr. Haynes, 28, wrote in a direct message on X.

Max Read, a writer in Brooklyn, said he thought of the meme in more economical terms. He compared the sharp and quick swings of being “back” and then “over” to the fluctuations of the stock market.

“You look at all the economic sentiment readings, and by most measurements the economy is booming, but nobody seems to think it is,” said Mr. Read, 38, who wrote about the phrase in a newsletter last summer . “I think everyone’s a little bit nervous that something’s going to turn on a dime.”

A sense of yearning for the recent past is also inherent in being “back.” When Ms. Del Rey performed at Coachella in 2014 , it might not have been a moment that anyone at the time thought they’d be longing to live again. A decade later, hindsight casts this era in a tantalizing glow of pseudo-innocence.

“Nostalgia is one of the defining cultural ideas on social media,” said Jessica Maddox, an assistant professor of digital media at the University of Alabama. “Things that are rebooted, reworked or come back up again. This is a phrase that encapsulates that.”

This sense of nostalgia isn’t only limited to memories of better times, Dr. Maddox added, but also can apply to most anything a person has already experienced. “Even if it’s chaotic and bad or ridiculous,” she said, “well, at least it’s familiar.”
