General Information About Rajabhatkhawa

Rajabhatkhawa in Dooars is the gateway to Buxa Tiger Reserve. Surrounded by dense forests Rajabhatkhawa is a pictorial forest village located adjacent to Buxa Tiger Reserve. It is an ideal place to visit for the wilderness lovers in Dooars. Within the premises of Rajabhatkhawa, there is a watchtower. The watchtower is enclosed by dense forest which gives the best opportunity to the visitors to spot elephant, bison and even tiger. There is a story behind the name of the village. It is said that in 1800, the king of Cooch Behar vowed to never eat rice if he did not manage to dethrone the ruler of Bhutan from the area where the village thrives now. After some time, the monarch of Bhutan himself agreed to leave and as a gesture of amity, the kings met and had a feast of rice in the dense forest. That gave the village its name. The Nature Interpretation Center at Rajabhatkhawa is a major attraction. This centre provides the visitor with an insight into what the Buxa Tiger Reserve has to offer in terms of flora, fauna, and ecological diversity.

The small, sweltering border town of Phuentsholing sits opposite the much The Animal Rescue Centre of Rajabhatkhawa is another popular tourist attraction of this place. The Animal Rescue Centre is where the injured leopards and tigers are treated until they are normal before they are released back in the forests. Here visitors may watch Tiger, Leopard, Bison and some other animals. The Orchidarium of Rajabhatkhawa is another tourist destination of this serene forest village. This Orchidarium houses more than 1500 species of delicate orchids. Rajabhatkhawa is also a must-visit destination for the avid bird watchers. There are a number of bird species along with migratory species are seen here. Forktails, Goosanders, Ibis Bill are few among them. Wildlife safaris, bird watching and trekking are the prime attractions for tourists visiting Rajabhatkhawa. According to officials of the forest department, 32 types of creepers and herbs, 112 breeds of orchids and more than 150 species of trees are found in the emerald greenwoods enclosing this quaint hamlet. Places of attraction nearby include Chilapata, Jayanti and the Buxa fort. Winter is the best time to visit Rajabhatkhawa. It is better to avoid the monsoon if visitors want to indulge in activities like trekking. The forests remain closed from June 15 to September 15 every year.

Best Time To Visit Rajabhatkhawa

Visiting the place is best done in winters between the months of October and March. The temperatures are lower and make it easier for you to travel in the sun. Also, the Buxa Tiger Reserve is closed between June and September for tourists. So going in monsoons becomes pointless.

Places to see in Rajabhatkhawa: Rajabhatkhawa is a great place for enjoying a relaxed vacation. The nearest sightseeing destination is the famous Buxa Tiger Reserve , which is famous for its ruined Fort, wild elephants, leopards, tigers, bisons and a host of wild animals. All required entry permits to this Buxa Tiger Reserve are issued from Rajabhatkhawa Nature Interpretation Centre . There are a number of trekking trails through the Buxa forest, which offer hikers the chance to savor a glimpse of animals in their natural habitat. Spanning an area of 759 sq km, the Buxa Tiger Reserve is admired with hilly landscape crisscrossed by several rivers and their tributaries. The Buxa Fort is located at an altitude of 867 meters on the Sinchula Range in the middle of the reserve forest.

Nearby attractions of Rajabhatkhawa: In order to reach Buxa Fort , you have to trek around 5 kms from Santrabari . The Buxa Fort located at an altitude of 2600 ft has a huge historical importance because it as used by the British to confine freedom fighters – even Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is said to have spent some days here. The sacred temple of Mahakal is also located nearby. The riverbed of Jayanti and the dense forests of Chilapata is also located nearby. The beautiful forested area of Jayanti with the meandering Jayanti River and its endless white pebble laden banks is a grand site. You can also visit the nearby Chilapata Forest or the famous Pokhri, which is visited by thousands of devotees. You can also visit nearby Cooch Behar town for a visit to the Cooch Behar Palace.

Located 162 km from Siliguri visitor can hire a car to reach R BK Buxa Jungle Lodge from Siliguri. But if the visitors are from other region they can board a train for Alipurduar. At a distance of 15km Alipurduar is the closest railway station from Rajabhatkhawa Buxa Jungle Lodge. They can also board a flight for Bagdogra. Bagdogra Airport at a distance of 171 km is the closest airport from Rajabhatkhawa Buxa Jungle Lodge. From the respective juncti,on visitors can hire a car to reach Buxa Jungle Lodge.

Day - 03 - Trek to Historical Buxa Fort / Lepchakha via Santrabari - Early morning breakfast - Next drive to Santrabari - From there one can trek to Buxa Fort it is nearly 20  kilometres and after driving till Santrabari one can trek the four kilometer road to Buxa Buxa  - Buxa Fort is an important landmark for this reserve - This fort was  captured by the British - India in 1865 after the Dooars War from Bhutan - Later this fort was used as a detention camp for Indian freedom fighters during the Indian  freedom movement - and if possible further 2 kilometres to Lepchakha - Sightseeing to Chilapata (30 Kilometres) and Raimatang (25 Kilometres) or Kunjanagar (20  Kilometres), South Khairbari (10 Kilometres) are easily done from here -  Other Visit to Animal rescue Centre and Herbal Graden is also possible - Evening free - Night  stay at Rajabhatkhawa

Day - 03 - Sightseeing to Chilapata & Phuentsholling - Early morning one can proceed to Chilapata - Nearly 26 kilometres from Jaldapara or Alipurduar - The forest is  used by the Elephants as a corridor to migrate - Chilapata Forest Reserve, Nal Rajar Garh, Barodabari/ Malangi and Kodal Bosti are the place of interest - Interesting  is Ram Guna Tree locally called is knownas the tree that bleed - Back to Resort - Post Lunch one can visit Phuentsholling - The frontier town in southern Bhutan nearly   - Phuntsholing or Phuentsholing is the administrative seat of the Chukha district - A thriving commercial centre, it is home to a potpourri of ethnic groups  intermingling at the point where the countries Bhutan and India meet - Temple called Zangtho Pelri Lhakhang, Monastery Kharbandi Goemba, Crocodile breeding centerand  the local market is the places of interest - Post lunch one can visit either one of the place like Jaldapara (55 Kilometres) or Raseekbill (55 Kilometres), etc - Back  to resort / hotel / Camp - Overnight stay at resort

Rajabhatkhawa is a small elegant town near Buxa Tiger Reserve in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. It is 150km distance from Siliguri and 15km from Alipurduar. Rajabhatkhawa is enriched with plenty of sightseeing destinations, the place is a depot of flora and fauna, and it is one of the main centres for eco tourism surrounded by emerald green forest and hills this striking hamlet is an idyllic spot experiencing green darkness. The region is admired by the tourist with a number of beautiful trekking trails. Wildlife safaris, bird watching and trekking are the supreme activities of this place. Serving as an entry point of nearby forest, this little town is bounded by rivers like Raidak and Jayanti. Numerous nature trails originate from Raja Bhat Khawa and pass through dense forest areas in and around Buxa Tiger Reserve. Bird watching, jungle safari, trekking and Wildlife watching are the main activities here. Raja Bhat Khawa and its surrounding areas are also home to various migratory birds. The interpretation Centre at Raja Bhat Khawa with its museum of wildlife related exhibits is very impressive for visitors. On the way to Raja Bhat Khawa there is lots of tourist attraction area; one can see the prolific of green tea gardens and big forests. Kalchini, Patkpara and Buxa Duar are the neighbouring towns of Raja Bhat Khawa which was completely adorable to visit. Another tourist attractioin place at Raja Bhat Khawa includes Orichdarium animal rescue centre and a nature interpretation centre. A watch tower deep inside the forest gives the best opportunity to view Elephants, bison’s and tigers. On the other hand Jayanti riverbed is the common attraction for tourists coming to Buxa. The riverbed with Bhutan hills on the other side is truly elegant and is about 16km through forest road from Raja Bhat Khawa. Sikiajhora famous spicnic spot near Panialguri is an about half an hour drive from Raja Bhat Khawa. There is a small stream coming out of the forest on which a small dam is built. Rajabhatkhawa is a great place for enjoying a relaxed vacation. The nearest sightseeing destination is the famous Buxa Tiger Reserve, which is famous for its ruined Fort, wild elephants, Leopards, tigers, bisons and a host of wild animals; all required entry permits to this Buxa Tiger Reserve are issued from Rajabhatkhawa Nature Interpretation Centre. Winter is the most important time to travel Rajabhatkhawa. It is better to avoid monsoon months as the region experiencing high rainfall along with increase in humidity level. Moreover, the forests remain closed from 15th June to 15th September every year.

Day 1 : Alipurduar

Welcome on arrival at APDJ(Alipurduar) & Proceed towards Rajabhatkhawa. After rich to Buxa Jungle Lodge at noon (Rajabhatkhawa). After lunch & visit Jayanti Hill & River enrooting Buxa Jungle. Buxa Tiger Reserve Once famous for dolomite mining, Buxa was declared a tiger reserve in 1983 and got the status of National park in 1992. Located in the Assam-Bhutan border, Buxa has an area of 769 sq km, the largest forest in North Bengal and has the second highest tiger population in West Bengal after Sunderbans. The park holds maximum number of elephant, Indian bison, leopard, wild dog, many species of deer and many smaller mammals, innumerable species of birds and reptiles. Buxa is rich with bio-diversity and has a great collection of rare orchids and medicinal plants. Because of inaccessible terrain, some parts of Buxa hills in the Sinchula range are still unexplored. Buxa is one of the oldest settlements in North Bengal. It is 30kms from Alipurduar and 180 kms from Siliguri, well connected by both motorable road and railways. Several trek routes originate from Buxa. NO JUNGLE SAFARI order by B.T.R D.F.D September 2010. Back to Resort in evening free for relax. Overnight at Rajabhatkhawa.

Day 2 : Buxa Fort

After early breakfast (7 A.M.) excursion trip with pack some snakes for Buxa Fort. Buxa Fort (30 km from Alipurduar), Buxa Fort is located at an altitude of about 2600 ft A.S.L. at a two-hour trekking distance from Santrabari. The trek is a very pleasant one with some beautiful scenery en route. Originally established as a cantonment by the British East India Company in 1873, it was used by the British as a deportation camp for political prisoners during India's struggle for freedom. The area's general inaccessibility, as well as dense forests, made it ideal for this. Some illustrious freedom fighters who were imprisoned here were - Triloki Sen, Arun Guha, Surendra Mohan Ghosh, Hemendra Ghosh, Anil Roy, Maj. Satya Gupta, Amalendu Dasgupta, Jagannath Das Gupta, Khitish Chandra Mullick, Bhupati Majumdar and many others. Post-independence, it lost its significance and until today remains rather neglected. In the sixties, Buxa Fort was used as a relief camp for Tibetan refugees. The Tibetan Buddhist monks, who also sheltered here, attracted quite a few national and international tourists. During 1970-71, it was again used as a relief camp for Bangladeshi refugees for about six months. The trekking route to the fort both from Santrabari, is set amidst breathtaking scenery and provides trekkers with an opportunity to sample nature in a form unspoiled by modern influences. Back to Santrabari at noon (1 P.M.) and after take lunch proceed to Raimatang 85 kms drive through the forest and Tea-Gardens via Kalckhini near Hasimara will take you to Raimatang, a picturesque little forest bungalow surrounded by small hills and streams) enroot Sikhijhora for BOAT SAFARI (Subject to availability). Evening free for relax. Overnight at Raimatang.

Day 3 : Jaldapara

In the morning after breakfast visit nature trail local village and Forest. After rich to Jaldapara fresh and take lunch after lunch Visit Chilapata Jungle Safari. The Chilapata Forest is a dense forest near Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary in Dooars, Jalpaiguri District. It is about 35 km from Alipurduar, and just a few minutes away from Hasimara town. The forest forms an elephant corridor between Jaldapara and the Buxa Tiger Reserve and is rich in wildlife. New species continue to be found. The forest used to be home to large Rhinoceros populations. In hunting expeditions in 1892-1904, in and around Chilapata Forest, the Maharajah of Cooch Behar recorded killing one rhino, injury of one, and sighting of over 20. Rhinos now extremely rare. Leopards are still common. It is hoped that eco-tourism will provide a new source of income for the indigenous Rava people, who now depend on the forest mainly for firewood. Also see C.C.Line, Nal Rajar Garh. Back to Resort in evening free for relax. Overnight at Jaldapara.

Day 4 : Jaldapara

After early morning excursion trip to Jaldapara Sanctuary for Elephant ride Or Jeep Safari (Subject to availability). Established in 1941 for the protection of the Indian one-horned rhino, the Jaldapara Sanctuary covers 216 sq km, is a mosaic of woods, grasslands, perennial streams, sandy river banks and extensive belts of tall grass. It contains a great diversity of flora and fauna of mixed deciduous forest, grasslands and river banks. Jaldapara Wild Life Sanctuary, situated in Alipurduar Sub-Division of Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal, is home to a wide variety of wild life, particularly the Great Indian One Horned Rhinos. The River Torsha flows through this rain forest sanctuary which is mostly covered with tall grasses, the sanctuary encompasses luxuriant vegetation and a rich variety of wildlife. The Malangi River also flows nearby from east to west. Riding elephants is the only way to move inside this forest. The birds to be found here are the crested BEagle, Pallas's Fishing Eagle and Shikra, besides Jungle fowl, peafowl, patridges, Bengal Florican and lesser Pied Hornbill. Python, monitor lizards, krates, cobras, geckos and about 8 species of fresh water turtles have also found. The wild life, in addition to the famous Great Indian One Horned rhinos, consists of Royal Bengal Tigers, Wild Elephants, Deer�s, Swamp Deer�s, Hog Deer�s, Wild Pigs, and And Indian Bison�s. Some rare species like the hispid hare and the hog-badger are also found here. Besides wildlife viewing, there is scope for unusual holiday activities like elephant riding and leisurely strolls through the towering grass. After early Breakfast visit at South Khayerbari (Tiger Rehabilitation Center) or Kunja Nagar Eco Park. After lunch visit Phuntsholing (Identity Card also must). A scenic drive through terraced fields that offer gorgeous vistas will bring you to Phuntsholing, with an en-route stop at the hilltop Kharbandi Gompa, a monastery built in 1967 by Bhutan's Queen Mother. Here also Crocodiles Park. Phuntsholing is the gateway to Bhutan from India. It is located on the south-west corner of Bhutan on the Indian border (along the Torsa River). Evening free for Relax. Overnight at Jaldapara.

Day 5 : Coochbehar Royal Palace

After early breakfast set out & pack up for APDJ enrooting visit Coochbehar Royal Palace Idealized from the concept of classical European style of Italian Renaissance, this magnificent palace was built by the famous Koch king Maharaja Nripendra Narayan in 1887. Raised on a basement of 1.5 meters in height, this double storied brick building covers an area of 4768 square meters. It extends 120 meters from north to south and 90 meters from east to west. The frontal facade consists of a series of arches resting by an alternate arrangement of narrow and broad piers to contain single and double Corinthian pilasters respectively. A porch is projected in the center to provide main entrance to the building through the Durbar Hall. Recalling the memory of St. Peter's Church at Rome, the Durbar Hall is dodecagonal in shape, resting on four arches supported by massive Corinthian pilasters and projecting a lantern at the top. The intrados of the dome is relieved in Stepped patterns and flanked by a small elegant balcony with twelve window openings at the base. In the center of the Durbar Hall, the marble floor contains the royal insignia in pietradura. The building contains more than fifty rooms/halls of varied dimensions which include the bedrooms, dressing rooms, billiard room, kitchen, and dinning hall, dancing hall, library, toshakhana and the ladies gallery. Certain rooms deserve special attention for their beautiful paintings in the ceiling as well as in the interior wall surface. Lunch Coochbehar. Back to APDJ for boarding train. Farewell at APDJ. Rajabhatkhawa is not just famous for being the entry gate to Buxa Tiger Reserve, but happens to be the getaway where the King of Coochbehar celebrated his victory over the Bhutanese King once upon a time. Bhutan had encroached on Bengal’s territory and invaded Coochbehar. Today, a lovely museum depicting that tale including fossilized and stuffed remains of animals found in the forests around, stands at Rajabhatkhawa. There is also a lovely Orchid House in place, but photography is strictly prohibited within the museum and orchid house.

Just as you enter the museum, you get to see a big notice saying: ‘Stay away from animals called humans, rest are predictable.’ According to history, in 1765, the 13th king of Coochbehar, Dhairjendra Narayan, was enthroned and the King of Bhutan, Debraj could not tolerate his success. He got into a conflict with the King of Coochbehar regarding the land near Buxa. He claimed the land belonged to him. He sent his army and his commander-in-chief Panshu Toma, who held the King of Coochbehar captive. At first, he was confined to Buxa, later he was taken to Punakha, the then capital of Bhutan. The Bhutanese King took over his lands. Members of the Coochbehar Royal Family then appealed to the British and the East India Company to help them restore the King of Coochbehar back to his throne. 

The British were reluctant in the beginning, but then they realized the huge forest resources of the area, particularly Buxa and Alipurduar would help them acquire wood they needed to build the railways. So for their own need they sided with the King of Coochbehar and helped the Royal Family rescue the king. The Bhutanese King signed a treaty with the East India Company in 1774 and released the King. As the King of Coochbehar started marching back to his kingdom, the royal family and his subjects gave him a grand welcome. Today’s Rajabhatkhawa is the place where the King was welcomed to a Bengali lunch of Bhaat or rice. Since then, the place is known as Raja-Bhaat-Khawa meaning the place where the king ate rice. It is also entrance to one of the largest forests of Bengal, Buxa Tiger Reserve.

• Meet & Greet upon arrival at Airport / NJP StationHotel Accommodation as per the name mentioned in the Category for duration as mentioned in the itinerary.
• All applicable Transfers & Sightseeing by NON AC vehicle which will not be at disposal and will be exclusively used for the group as per the itinerary only (on point to point basis).
• This vehicle will also change sector wise.

• Government GST as applicable (as on date 01/07/2017 it is 05%)
• Cost for extra usage of vehicle, other than scheduled & mentioned in the itinerary.

Please note as per the Government Rule, in 01 Tata Sumo / Hard Top Jeep only 08 heads are allowed that is including child. In 01 INNOVA only 06 heads are allowed that is including child. Incase the number of heads traveling increases above 08 in a Tata Sumo / Hard Top Jeep & 06 in an Innova than the guest will have to opt for the 2nd (second) vehicle for which the cost is mentioned above.

Incase the guest is opting for INNOVA as per the unwritten syndicate rule; INNOVA will do the main transfer & sightseeing of Kalimpong & Darjeeling only. Lachung & Pelling sightseeing will be done by NON AC Tata Sumo / Mahindra Maxx / Hard Top vehicle which may have front / side facing seat. Gangtok sightseeing will be done by NON AC Maruti Van / Similar (one vehicle for every 04 paying Pax). Also while opting for INNOVA please inform the guest to travel light with minimum baggage of one piece per person. In case of excess baggage the guest will have to opt for an extra vehicle for carrying the excess baggage. The cost for this will be collected directly from the guest.

Process Of Making Advance Payment

50 % of the total package cost must be deposited as an advance in our company's account to confirm the package. Remaining 50 % of the package cost will be collected on arrival (First day of the Tour).

Customers must carry the issued confirmation letter on their trip as it contains important information like confirmed hotel, Cab Details and Service contact Numbers.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY:

There is no contract between AKK CRUSIER and the client until the company has received initial deposit amount of specified tour package.

In case, customer wishes to cancel his/her booking before 15 days of the travel date because of whatsoever reasons, including accident, sickness, or any other personal reasons, non-payment of the balance payment, the Company is liable to recover Cancellation charges from the Client. All the cancellations must be communicated in written.

Advance amount 50% is also non-refundable in case the cancellation is done within 15 days of the travel dates or No Show scenarios.

The Company deserves the right to change the package cost depending on the economical status of the market as per the Government policy.

Services will be provided to the customers as mentioned in the booking voucher only.

Any complimentary services (If not provided) cannot be claimed in form of cash or alternative service.AKK CRUSIER have the right to cancel your Invoice due to insufficient Advance Amount i.e. 50% of the total tour Package Cost. 

AMENDMENT POLICY (PREPONE & POSTPONE):

In case client wishes to prepone /postpone his or her travel dates, we request you to kindly reach us 15 days prior to journey date via e-mail.

The customers can prepone /postpone their tour once without any additional charges (if intimated before 15 days of travel date in written). However postponing & preponing second time will attract additional charges.

Also note that few service providers (Hoteliers, Transporter etc.) may apply postpone/prepone charges even after meeting above requirement. In such cases postpone/prepone charges will deducted from the advance amount deposited.

In all prepone or postpone scenarios, the services and the costing will be subject to availability of Hotel/Tranasprotation and season/off season time.

We do not accept any changes in plan within 15 days of travel date. However in rare cases like adverse climatic conditions or strikes, package can be postponed which will be intimated to you beforehand.

The validity to utilize your Advance payment in prepone/postpone scenarios is 1 Year from the date of advance payment.

The advance payment and the invoice Number allotted to you, are transferable i.e. you can pass on your booking to any of your friends/ relatives. (Please Note: In order to transfer your booking you must meet the above terms and conditions first).

Following the success of Maggie Rogers ’ in-person ticketing program for her tour last year, she’s going even bigger in 2024. Ahead of her new album Don’t Forget Me dropping on Friday, the singer announced her first arena run in the United States, kicking off in October after ‘ The Don’t Forget Me Tour, Part I ’ in early summer.

Friday kicks off a week-long celebration that Rogers is dubbing ‘Box Office Week’ that will include pop-up events, special shows at intimate venues in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago, and chances to snag tickets to the arena tour at box offices across America.

Rogers’ arena run this fall includes a date at Madison Square Garden on October 19, a little over five years after the singer sold out two nights at Radio City Music Hall. Having gone to New York University and lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Rogers is no stranger to venues across the city, from popping out at Barclays Center with Zach Bryan and Bruce Springsteen to her affinity for some of the city’s cozier settings.

Why Beyoncé Fans Are Asking Her to Hold Off on Announcing a Cowboy Carter Tour

R umors that Beyoncé will announce a tour to support her eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter , have been swirling online since the project came out last week. And though the singer has not announced plans for a tour as yet, the speculation has many fans already anticipating steep ticket prices.

“BRB gonna apply for a new credit card,” wrote one person on X in response to a post from a pop culture account that suggests Beyoncé will announce a tour on Friday. “I mean, we don’t have money, but we will be there,” wrote another.

While there has been no official announcement of a new tour, the singer’s most followed fan accounts fueled rumors on Thursday by sharing a link on to a site called BeenCountry.com, which takes users to a page of photos of Beyoncé and one of her mother when she was younger with her maiden name, Celestine Beyince.

As rumors fly, fans are begging Beyoncé to hold off on announcing a tour, joking that they still need to financially recover from her last one. The Renaissance World Tour, which wrapped up in Oct. 2023 and was her first since the On The Run Tour II in 2018. According to Billboard , tickets for the Renaissance Tour ranged in price depending on the reseller. The average fan could expect to pay around $400 to $550, Billboard reported, with resale tickets for her Houston show going for as low as $279.

“NO TOUR UNTIL 2025,” one post said, and it was met with support from other commenters. “I ain’t going to the cowboy carter tour y'all,” another post says, “I thought I had more time. I thought I had more time.”

Another person joked that they wouldn’t be able to eat real food because they knew the concert would be expensive. According to Billboard , the Renaissance Tour tickets ranged in price depending on the reseller. The rumors of a new tour are still unfounded, but not impossible—although it would come faster than Beyoncé’s announcement for the Renaissance World Tour, which arrived several months after she released the album in 2022. It would not be unlike Beyoncé to have a few tricks up her sleeve, some that delight her fans—and some that throw them into a frenzy.
