Please note

Operated in Rovaniemi each year from November 16 to April 12 next year (weather permitting). The minimum number of participants for each activity is 2 adults paying a full price.

The duration includes the transfer and clothes changing time. The pick-up service is included if the distance from the pick-up point to Rovaniemi city center is within 8km. Thermal overalls, winter boots, winter gloves, woolen socks, helmets and masks are provided.

The meeting time of our safari is always before the start of the activity, in case the pick-up service is needed. You will receive your meeting time and meeting point upon confirmation or by e-mail. Failure to participate in the safari due to missed meeting time or meeting point will not be refunded.

Ranua Wildlife Park specializes in arctic and northern animal species, with a history of almost 40 years. The animals’ spacious enclosures are located in the middle of the northern coniferous forest, which is also the natural environment for most of the species living in the park.

We are open every day of the year. The changing seasons bring an additional dimension to visiting the wildlife park.

Ranua Wildlife Park is home to Finland’s only polar bear and 50 other arctic and northern animal species, a total of about 150 individual animals.

Sustainability at Ranua Resort

For us, sustainability is an important factor in all of our activities and we strive to make environmentally sustainable choices in our accommodation services, cleaning, restaurants, animal park, souvenir shop, our own offices and all our purchases.

In addition to these, important work is carried out in the wildlife park to maintain a sufficiently diverse population in terms of animal species and species protection. The goal is to maintain an appropriately sized, genetically as diverse stock as possible. In addition, we also cooperate with other animal parks in terms of information sharing and research.

Ranua Wildlife Park’s species in the EEP programs include polar bears, wolverines, wolves, otters, dholes, musk oxen, European mink, sea eagles, Pallas’s cat, and the latest, the snowy owl, which has their own program. In addition, our species in EAZA’s studbook programs include the Finnish forest reindeer, brown bear, and lynx.

ANIMAL CARE WITH A BIG HEART

The well-being of animals is one of the central values ​​of Ranua Wildlife Park. Most of our residents were born in shelter conditions here or in other zoos, and are used to the presence of humans – still we ask all our visitors to respect the peace of the animals in their own home, and to behave in a calm manner near the enclosures.

The basic prerequisites for the well-being of the animals in the park are a sufficiently large enclosure and related facilities designed with the needs of the species in mind, as well as competent animal keepers who know the characteristics of the animal species and our own individuals. In addition, animals naturally need food and health care that is naturally suitable for them.

Yes, our wildlife park is open throughout the year, daily.

What time does the wildlife park open?

The wildlife park is open daily, around the year.

Can I take my dog with me to the wildlife park?

You cannot take your dog inside the wildlife park. However, in the yard area of the wildlife park we have spacious kennels (2 x 3m), where you can leave your dog for the duration of your visit to the park. These are in use from April to the end of October. Please, remember to bring a drinking container for your dog.

You will be picked up from your hotel and returned back to your place of stay after the tour. Ranua Wildlife Park is located 80 km (49.7 miles) away from Rovaniemi and it takes about an hour to get there. You can use the free Wi-Fi onboard the bus and relax on the journey to Ranua Zoo. Ranua Wildlife Park offers tourists and nearby inhabitants the opportunity to observe arctic animals throughout the year, in an as authentic environment for the animals as possible. The Zoo’s animals consist of approximately 50 wild animal species and 200 individuals, including top predators such as lynx, polar bears, brown bears and wolves but also European moose and deer. Ranua Wildlife Park is open every day of the year, and the changing seasons do bring their own additional dimension to the life in the park.

Please, book online, on  our website and we pick you up at your hotel  between 9:30-10:00 a.m.  We will  arrive to Ranua Zoo at 11:00 a.m.  you will have three hours to enjoy Ranua Zoo, during which the bus will wait for you at the parking place. Also  you can visit  restaurant in the Zoo  and, moreover buy some souvenirs in the souvenir shops, after that you can visit  Fazer chocolate shop. 14:00 p.m. bus departure from Ranua Zoo to Rovaniemi. Free wi-fi in our buses is included.

The scenery was beautiful and Santa was great. Wish I would have gone at night rather than during the day because it is all lit up at night. Tour guide was great-helped us find a reindeer hide to purchase which was cheaper there than at our hotel... The reindeer sled ride was great.

One in a while experience for sauna and wonderful

Me and my friends booked with them through positive comments from TripAd about the place. Once we there, we started to understand why do they deserve it. Alex and Tanya's house were in the middle surrounded by great Lapland nature. We highly recommended the tour because after the sauna and dipping in cold water we had a great night sleep and thought that it was best decision to book them. Give your self some Finnish Sauna and experienced Finland nature.

unforgettable Evening

It was the best choice to do the wood burned sauna tour with Nordic Adventures Rovaniemi! Alex and Tanja are so nice people, we had the whole sauna for us, had a fantastic and romantic evening with a dip in the icecold lake! It was amazing! After that we had a very good dinner with finnish sausages, potatoe salad, homemade potatoe bread, berry tea and gingerbread cookies. After all we had a talk to Alex and Tanja about the nature and habbits in finland. We warmly recommend everyone to do this tour! Thank you for that special experience!

Unique experience, very helpful and friendly guide right on time for pick up and drop off, in a beautiful location all in all 10/10 recommend !!

Rejuvenating experience

This was a well-paced tour that gave a really good experience of the Finnish Lapland. It began with a tour to the zoo. Alex took us there and gave interesting information about the animals and the zoo. Then he took us to the cottage for the second half of the day where we met Alex and Tanya, both of whom were friendly and told us lots of information about life in Lapland. The place around the cottage was pristine and beautiful with a lovely lake. The traditional Finnish sauna was also quite an experience, especially if you are planning to take a dip in the lake in between. After that, we had some delicious dinner served to us. I have taken many pictures on the trip. But I don't think I will need them as the experience will be fresh in my mind for years to come.

Northern lights at private lake

I went off of everyone else’s reviews and chose Nordic adventures because I’m the kind of person who travels alone and tries to meet locals and stay away from tourist traps. On my first trip to see the northern lights though, I didn’t find anyone that I could link up with who was local and so I did extensive research and even rented my own car to try and stay solo on the trip. In the end I decided to join Nordic adventures for my first night to hope to see the northern lights and also because the company states that they keep group sizes small and provide a personal experience. I have to say that hands down I am blown away. Every step from booking to being picked up even to communication with Alex days after my tour was over was incredible. I don’t feel like I was on a tour, I feel like I was hanging out with a few friends. Alex’s Kota on the lake was magic and I would have enjoyed the night whether we saw the northern lights or not. Luckily... they were magic. But this company is hands down the best way I could have experienced the beauty of Finland. Thank you Alex. I’ll be back soon.

A winter wonderland

We were collected from our hotel (Nova Skyland) and were the only people on the tour so had effectively a private minibus and tour with our very pleasant and helpful guide, who spoke excellent English. The zoo is large but the walking is fairly easy and the enclosures are well designed. Lunch was a hot buffet selection from an on-site cafe and was very tasty with a good selection. We really enjoyed the tour and the only negative was some of the animals were not visible as they were staying in their indoor enclosures, but that's certainly not the fault of the tour guide. We still did see soem fabulous animals in a a beautiful snowy setting - very unique!

Sehr schöner Ausflug

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend, auch wenn wir mit den Nordlichtern kein Glück hatten. Es gab warme Getränke für alle und auch Würstchen und Marshmellos zum grillen über dem Feuer. Alex war sehr nett und hat auch bei der Kameraeinstellung geholfen. Wir würden jederzeit wieder eine Tour mit Alex machen.

Four friends trip!

I would recommend this tour as it will save you a bit of time (rather than doing it DIY, one by one). It is do-able the three activities in one day in santa village becauseeverything is walking distance in there, but if you want to know more infos and trivias, and save time on searching the places where to do activities, and queuing to buy the tickets then i would recommend you to book this one. It includes everything and the guide will answet yout questions. Thanks to our guide Alex, we manage to do everything we want to do in 1 day. We didnt have to line to buy tickets in that cold weather. The trivias and his shop recommendations are interesting and useful!

Awesome experience with Pedro

This is one of the first things we did after we arrived in Rovaniemi and set us off to a great start.Our guide Pedro was kind and friendly and explained everything about how to use the sauna and how to go about dipping in the ice lake if we wanted to.Felt so energized and refreshed after going in the ice-cold water, definitely want to do it again.The lunch afterward was some of the best food we had whilst in Finland, definitely the best salmon.The sun came out halfway through our experience and the already beautiful view of the lake got even more beautiful.

This tour was hands down the best at communicating! A couple of examples: -they messaged us with the address and a picture of the meeting spot, and that really helped because the picture was on one side of a corner and the address was on the other side. So that made it very clear where to go. -they emailed, what's app, and texted with trip advisor/viator messaging. We met some ladies in Estonia who were talking the tour the next day and had the same experience with communicating! Our tour guide (Leticia) was knowledgeable and very flexible with our interests and abilities. The fort (Suomellina) had a lot of walking. It was fine for me but someone not used to walking a lot might have to take things slower. She handled all the transportation. The sights were interesting and I felt we got a good well traveled native's experience. One highlight was she showed us one of the indoor food markets and gave us a quick tour, some tips and let us find some fun things to try on our own for lunch. Zoe always contacted me within a day of my writing her as we worked together to arrange our plans. Our Helsinki visit was flawless. Easy airport transfers, and the tours with individual guides were great. Two tours were just for my wife and me, while two other tours had 2 other people along. No problems. All the guides were full of information, and several even spent more time with us than was allotted. We felt we really got to know the city, and it was far less confusing than trying to find our own way around since street signs in Swedish and Finnish are complicated to read. Then he forgot his cellphone in the taxi and the taxi driver personally drove the car back to the hotel to return it. People in Finland is very honest and it’s safe here. We rode the tram, ferry, bus and subway/train everywhere with the transportation pass that the tour gave us. It was a very fun trip indeed. I highly recommend it but research where you want to go first because there’s a lot of free time in your hands. Finland people are very punctual. Try to be on time if you go on this tour but they will come back for you if you were late so don’t worry. Lastly, I won’t recommend riding the train.
