Amidst so much heaviness consuming events of today’s world, Rend Collective is sharing good news as a response to that brokenness. The Ireland-hailing Rend Collective is hearkening back to their roots-y, unique sound - originally birthed out of Bangor, Ireland – for their sixth studio album, Good News , releasing January 19.
Taking on the moniker “Purveyors of Good News,” Rend Collective is barreling down the road of authenticity, and simple old-fashioned Gospel. Grown away from industry or formula, each song from Good News is deeply connected to the band’s roots in missional community - a group of people, or extended family, who are united through Christian community around a common service and witness to a particular neighborhood or network of relationships – much like the band themselves.
The title track and lead single, “Rescuer (Good News),” speaks to the band’s desire to shed light in the dark places. In a society that seems to continually face bad news, the lyrics point to the good news found in Jesus for every season and circumstance.
“There's a lot of bad news out there, but no matter what we have good news , and that good news has a name: Jesus Christ. Today there is nothing more powerful we can do in the darkness, in the bleakness, than proclaim the good news , than proclaim the gospel, and that’s why we wrote this song," says bandleader member Gareth Gilkeson.
Writing “Counting Every Blessing” was a personal and vulnerable process for the band. Birthed out of a period of downheartedness, the band made a conscious effort to practice ‘counting blessings’ in lieu of comparison.
“Sometimes we spend so much of our time looking at what we don’t have rather than being thankful for what we do have,” shares Gilkeson. “Our time on social media, comparing our lives to others, steals our joy and leaves us empty. God has given us so much and we must discipline our minds to think on our blessings rather than letting them fester on what we think we lack.”
Good News is marked with joy and celebration from beginning to end, but it doesn’t shy away from hardship. Each of the 15-tracks on the album speak to the struggle we all experience in light of the good news we’ve been invited to share in.
“All of us make mistakes and hit the ground feeling like we can’t get up again, that our failure is too overwhelming,” Gilkeson shares about the song, “Resurrection Day.” He continues, “But Romans 8 says that ‘The power that raised Christ from the dead lives inside of our mortal bodies’. That means resurrection flows in our veins and if Jesus can rise from the dead, we can get up off the floor again, declaring ‘this is my resurrection day.’”
With Good News , Rend Collective has chosen not to shy away from the brokenness and suffering, but rather through music and lyric that continues to push boundaries in the band’s own unique way, brings light to the darkness. This album is an invitation to all of us – to lament, to remember, and to share in the good news that belongs to all of us.

Winter Jam was a terrific night of a worship music. I have only been able to see Rend Collective once before and they do not disappoint. What a talented and energetic group of Christians. Love their Irish accents!

The Good News Tour was by far one of the best concerts I have been to. It was a true worship experience. It wasn't just about the music but about connecting to God in worship. I really appreciated that the lyrics were always posted. May The Lord continue to bless Rend Collective in their ministry.
This band is so amazing. The messages in the songs and the encouragement is so uplifting. I really needed the reminder to get back up from the floor, because right now life is really knocking me down. Praise God that He is directing you to such a wonderful path. My non-Christian friend went with me and my two Christian best friends and we are praying this show planted a seed in her heart for Christ. Praise God!

Rend Collective Announces Spring 2023 Tour
- Rend Collective
Northern Ireland worship band Rend Collective is planning to hit the road in the new year. The band has officially announced a spring leg of their “The Whosoever Tour.” The early 2023 dates will feature Sean Curran. A pre-sale is underway now. For more information, visit https://rendcollective.com/ .
In August, Rend Collective released their newest album, Whosoever, available now. The album features 10 tracks including the recently released radio single “Plans,” and the vibrant anthemic song, “Let It Roll.” The record is about God’s vast, generous embrace – wide enough, for the prodigal sons, cynical older brother and any other label we might apply to ourselves or others. As the title of the album clearly states – the gospel is for everyone.

About Rend Collective
A modern praise & worship band founded in Bangor, Northern Ireland, the Rend Collective (formerly known as the Rend Collective Experiment) is exactly what the name says, more a spiritual and creative collective than a band per se, blending praise lyrics with a kind of experimental folk-rock approach. Since debuting in 2010, their albums have been consistent staples of the U.S. and U.K. Christian charts; 2015's As Family We Go and 2018's Good News topped both. The Rend Collective continued to enjoy success into the next decade with albums like 2020's Choose to Worship and 2022's Whosoever.
Growing out of a group of Christian friends looking for a way to bring spirituality more in line with the complexities and confusions of life in the 21st century, the band, at least when it tours, consists primarily of drummer Gareth Gilkeson, vocalists Will Herron and Chris Llewellyn, percussionist and keyboardist Ali Gilkeson, horn player and accordionist Bridget Herron, and bassist Patrick Thompson.
Recorded mostly in churches and homes, Rend Collective's debut album, Organic Family Hymnal, appeared in 2010, followed by Homemade Worship by Handmade People in 2012, both released by Kingsway Music. A live set, Soul Survivor & Momentum - Kingdom Come: Live 2012, came out later that year on Integrity Music, which also released Campfire early in 2013. The Art of Celebration, which hit the Billboard 200 Top 15 and U.K. Top 30, arrived in 2014, along with a holiday album, Campfire Christmas, Vol. 1. Their fifth studio album, As Family We Go, was issued in the summer of 2015. The following year, the group released Campfire II: Simplicity, a sequel to their 2013 album.
Rend Collective's first best-of collection, Build Your Kingdom Here (dubbed a "mixtape" by the band), appeared in 2017. Intended as an elixir to the day's headlines, the studio album Good News arrived in January 2018. Breaking into the youth market, they issued 2019's Sparkle. Pop. Rampage. as Rend Co. Kids, following it up a year later with the more adult-oriented Choose to Worship. That same year, the group offered another holiday set in the Celtic-themed A Jolly Irish Christmas, Vol. 2. Their next project, the 2022 studio album Whosoever, continued their soaring blend of folk and anthemic Christian rock.

Who were the 10 highest-paid public employees in Vanderburgh County in 2023?
EVANSVILLE – Ronald Rochon made $97,453 last year. And that’s not counting his salary.
The University of Southern Indiana president raked in that extra money thanks to multiple “monthly stipends,” according to data from Indiana Gateway , a website that tracks public salaries in the state. The stipends ranged from $789 to $52,000.
The money came in the form of a housing allowance and incentive compensation, university spokesman John Farless told the Courier & Press. That, on top of his $319,745 salary, easily made him the highest paid public employee in Vanderburgh County for the sixth year in a row .
Rochon tops a list that includes several other academics, as well as the Vanderburgh County sheriff and a college basketball coach bolstered by a large raise.
All figures are taken from Gateway. This list only includes public employees, which means administrators and coaches at the University of Evansville, a private institution, aren’t included. Private business leaders don't qualify, either.
If we missed anyone who should have been included, let us know.
1. Ronald Rochon
Job: President, University of Southern Indiana
Compensation: $417,199
Last year brought a more than $67,000 raise for Rochon over his 2022 earnings.
2. Steven Becker
Job: Associate dean and director, Indiana University School of Medicine-Evansville
Compensation: $365,898
Becker also saw his compensation jump, this time by $56,587. His raise alone is just a shade less than Vanderburgh County’s median household income, which U.S. Census figures list at $58,839.
3. Mohammed Khayum
Job: Former provost, USI
Compensation: $331,545
Khayum announced his retirement from USI in January 2023, but stayed on in his official capacity until the end of June before going on leave for the rest of the calendar year. That leave brought him a retirement payout of $59,096.25 on top of his $272,448.87 base pay.
4. David Smith
Job: Superintendent, Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp.
Compensation: $288,358
5. Tejas Patel
Job: Medical director, Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center
Compensation: $280,114
6. Daniela Vidal
Job: Chancellor, Ivy Tech
Compensation: $234,262
7. Steven Bridges
Job: Vice president for finance and administration, USI
Compensation: $212,194
8. Rick Moore
Job: Executive director and CEO, Evansville Housing Authority
Compensation: $210,799
9. Noah Robinson
Job: Vanderburgh County sheriff
Compensation: $209,701
Robinson owns the distinction of being the highest-paid employee in Vanderburgh County government. And his compensation is a substantial increase from predecessor Dave Wedding, who made $165,667 in his final year in office in 2022.
After this story published, Robinson clarified that the boost came after he was paid for remaining sick time, paid time off and banked overtime. This year, his compensation will match that of Prosecutor Diana Moers, who made $165,920 in 2023.
10. Stan Gouard
Job: Men’s basketball head coach, USI
Compensation: $204,340
Gouard saw his compensation spike by more than $67,000 as USI embarked on its first full calendar year as a Division I program since taking the leap in July 2022.
Women’s coach Rick Stein, who led this team to a conference title and was named OVC coach of the year , also saw a sizable surge in pay, but he still lags significantly behind Gouard.
