La chaîne Arte propose de découvrir la typographie qui se cache dans les grandes villes avec Safari Typo !. À travers huit épisodes de moins de sept minutes réalisés et écrits par Thomas Sipp, un typographe ou un artiste renommé part en safari dans la jungle typographique urbaine. 

Ces huit passionnés des lettres et de chiffres nous montrent les magnifiques typographies qui peuplent les villes et qui échappent pourtant à bon nombre de passants. De l' enseigne de grand magasin au numéro d'immeuble, ils les décryptent et nous font prendre conscience comment, subtilement, ces inscriptions façonnent le caractère d'une ville.

Deux épisodes sont consacrés à la Ville Lumière, l'un des safaris typo est conduit par l'illustre Jean-François Porchez, créateur notamment de caractères du journal Le Monde et de la RAPT. Pour le second, nous suivons le typographe David Poullard qui a travaillé par exemple sur la signalétique de stations de métro et de RER. 

Avec Safari Typo !, vous ne verrez plus les villes de la même façon (ni même le numéro de votre logement !).

I want to place a Vimeo video on a web page. Vimeo provides iframes which do not work on Safari. I try to change the code to an object, but still doesn't work

I want to place a Vimeo video on a web page. Both YouTube & Vimeo provide iframes which I can NEVER GET TO WORK on Safari. Why they do this I do not understand. These iframes have never worked on Safari. Never.

However, objects do work, but only with YouTube. How can I embed a Vimeo video to play on Safari? Neither iframes nor objects work.

I've cleared my cache. I've checked all of the settings for the video. I have tried object code. I have tried iframe code. I have tried Shockwave-Flash. None of it works. All I can see is a blank space on the page where the video is supposed to be. Nothing happens. Nothing changes.

The only embeded video I am able to post on a page recently is YouTube and that is ONLY via objects.

Please help. This is very frustrating. Other people seem to be able to get this to work, but none of the solutions I have found that work for others work for me. They don't work for me.

Autoplay and loop embedded videos

There are several methods if you’d like your embedded video to autoplay or loop. This article outlines how to autoplay and loop embedded videos from the video's page on vimeo.com or by directly editing the embed code. Note that there are several restrictions outlined in this article that may prevent autoplay from functioning as expected.

💡 Tip: You may choose to set up an end screen instead of following the steps below to edit the embed code.

You can manually add the following parameters into your embed code to set your embedded videos to autoplay and/or loop:

If you have more than one video autoplaying on a particular page, you will also need to include this parameter:

• autopause=0

So, for example, if you were embedding two autoplay, looping, videos on a page, the embed code for each would look like this:

Important : If your video is set to the Unlisted privacy setting, additional parameters must be added  after  the privacy hash parameter. This will appear directly after the video ID in the URL and looks similar to  ?h=913062c8ff . Every parameter after the hash​ can be added using  &  rather than  ? .

If the autoplay parameter is present, the Vimeo player will attempt to automatically begin playback. However, please note that some browsers specifically block autoplay. In these cases, your video will revert back to the original thumbnail and controls, requiring viewers to select play to start playback.

⚠️Note: I t is not currently possible to autoplay or loop non-embedded onsite videos.

Autoplay is currently restricted in the following environments:

Safari version 11+ (Desktop)

• Autoplaying videos must be muted.
• Viewers can choose to block or allow unmuted autoplay for specific domains on their setup.

Chrome version 66+ (Desktop/Mobile)

• Videos that are frequently visited by the viewer are permitted to autoplay with sound (based on Google’s scoring system )

iOS (Safari, other mobile browsers, apps)

• Autoplay is disabled when the iPhone or iPad is in Low Power Mode.

Firefox 66+  (Desktop/Mobile)

• Firefox blocks videos with sound from playing automatically.
• Viewers can choose to block or allow unmuted autoplay for specific domains on their setup.

There is no way to stop these autoplay restrictions; however, you can mute your video to ensure the autoplay is always honored. Just add one of the following parameters to the end of the player URL in your embed code:  

?background=1 : This parameter automatically disables all elements in the player (play bar, buttons, etc), autoplay, loops, and mutes your video on load. Please note: the background parameter is only supported for videos hosted by paid members. Learn more at ' Embed background and chromeless videos '.

?muted=1 This parameter will automatically mute your video on load. Once your video plays, viewers can manually unmute it by clicking on the volume bar within the player.

⚠️Note:  Both of these parameters will force your video to load as muted in all browsers. Videos without audio tracks (or audio tracks without sound) will not be considered muted by browsers. In order to bypass autoplay restrictions, you must use one of the embed parameters above.

Screen recording with Vimeo on Safari not working

Using Safari browser to record videos and screen recordings…I am able to successfully record a video. When I try to do screen recording, I get a request from Safari to “allow” screen sharing, I confirm, the recording dialogue box comes up, but the screen recording never begins. Is there a setting that I need to adjust? Same is true for Camera+ screen recording. Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

I just tested this on Safari and by selecting “Allow” for every Privacy request I received, it worked out.

Some options I could think of:

Check out the Safari settings by hitting “⌘ + ,” to enter the settings and allow Asana for Camera, Microphone and Screen Recording.

Ensure MacOS and Safari are updated to the latest version available for your machine.

This should do, let us know if none of that works though!

Thanks for your reply.

My Safari settings for Camera and Microphone are set to “Allow” for Asana My Safari setting for Screen Sharing only has two options for Asana….”ask” or “Deny” and it’s set to ask/

My iMac is running the latest versions of Safari and MacOS

I restated my iMac

Again, if I am doing just a video recording, the audio and video work fine, the recording buttons all work, and the video loads into my comment or description field as desire.

If I try to do Screen Recording, or Screen & Camera, I get a prompt asking me to “allow” Asana to share my screen, and I accept that option.

I get the 3,2,1 countdown, the video screen appears, and the controls box (with play, pause, delete icons) appears. However, at the end of the countdown nothing happens….the seconds on the control box doesn’t show elapsed time. And essentially my Safari screen is frozen. I have to quite Safari to get out of it.

I tried this in Safari on my iPad and didn’t get any further there either.

In studying the Vimeo help logs, they talk a lot about the Vimeo extension for Chrome. I’ve tried to see if there is a Vimeo extension for Safari but I’m not finding anything.

I’m interested that it’s working for you but not me. Happy to zoom with you and share my screen so you can see my experience, and perhaps troubleshoot a bit more. I’m feeling like there some slight fix I need to do, so close, but just can’t find it.

I’d love to be able to use this feature!! I’m often working nights and weekends and could send along a rich comment to colleagues and they can watch at their convenience.

We’ve been testing this with @Chris_Harris2 , and I am concluding that this might be a bug.

Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing: Vimeo screen recording will not work on Safari . After clicking “Start recording” the pop-up that is supposed to allow the user to choose the screen or window to record does not show up.

Steps to reproduce: Start a Screen recording on Safari .

Note this might be a tricky one to reproduce. On my machine, with the same MacOS and Safari versions, I am unable to reproduce it.

• Safari cache and files were cleaned.
• The system was restarted.

Browser version: Safari - 16.0 (17614.1.25.9.10, 17614) MacOS - 12.6

Any updates on this matter? Seem to be having the same issue on my end with Safari/Chrome.

Nothing back to me from Asana so far

Thank you for the response @Chris_Harris2 - I am getting an error in f12 Dev tools. It should help development diagnose the issue. The issue I am having is in Chrome and Safari and since Chrome is a recommended browser they should be able to figure it out with this error code.

Any update on this. Pretty dissapointing not to be able to use this feature.

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay. Because we are not able to replicate this issue on our end, this is requiring a bit of investigation. Our team has been doing some work on the Vimeo integration and some of the issues reported by users have been fixed. Can you confirm if you are still running into this permission issue?

For Safari users, can you please follow these steps and let us know if the problem persists?

Go to System Preference → Security & Privacy → Privacy tab → select ‘Screen Recording’ from the list on the left, and make sure Safari is on the list. If not, use the ‘+’ to add it, and grant permission.

Vanessa, I’m happy to report that solution for Safari works. I will play with it over the next few days and report any wrinkles I run into.
