Experience the Magic of Santa Claus Up Close!

Magical Santa Home Visits

Turn your living room into a festive wonderland with Santa home visits from a professional Santa Claus entertainer. Songs, stories, and unforgettable memories await. Dive in and see how to make your home visit the most memorable one yet!

Get ready to believe in the magic all over again.

Santa Home Visits

Close your eyes and imagine a world bathed in soft, golden light from twinkling fairy lights, the comforting aroma of freshly baked gingerbread teasing your senses. The gentle hiss and pop from a roaring fireplace blend harmoniously with the distant sound of carolers. Then, as the enchantment thickens the air, a knock resonates at your front door, heralding the surprise visit of the one and only Santa Claus at your Christmas party, eager to spin an evening of dreams for you and your loved ones.

Why Invite Santa Claus for a Home Visit?

The true magic of Christmas isn’t in all the gifts under the Christmas tree or the lavish feasts; it’s in the experiences we share, the memories we create. Inviting Santa Claus to your home is an invitation to a deeper, more enchanting realm of Christmas – a world where legends come alive, and imagination knows no bounds.

Imagine the looks on everyone’s faces when Santa arrives and Santa makes his grand entrance . Each laugh, each gasp of wonder, becomes a thread in the tapestry of tales told for generations to come.

Activities to Expect During Santa Home Visits

Carol singing with santa.

The Magic of Melodies: From the classics that have adorned countless Christmases to lesser-known North Pole tunes, Santa’s repertoire is vast and versatile. With each note, the room seems to grow warmer, brighter. Perhaps you’ll even learn a carol or two that’s exclusive to the elves! By the time the last notes of “Silent Night” reverberate, you’ll feel the very essence of Christmas in every corner of your heart.

Joining in the Chorus: Don’t just be a spectator; this is an interactive experience. Sing along, clap to the beat, or even take the lead on your kid’s favorite song. Santa’s booming voice guiding the melody and his jolly laughter filling in the gaps make this a truly communal celebration of the festive spirit.

Playful and Merry Games

North Pole Traditions: Dive into the playful world of reindeer games and elvish antics. Santa visits can bring a treasure trove of games from his home in the Arctic — some familiar, others mysterious, but all filled with wonder and delight. Perhaps you’ll engage in a snowball toss (without the frosty fingers) or embark on a scavenger hunt, seeking out hidden North Pole treasures around your home.

Shared Laughter: As dice roll and cards turn, it’s not just about who wins or loses but the shared laughter, the friendly banter, and the pure joy of playing under Santa’s jovial supervision. Each game becomes a memory, a story to be recounted at future Christmases.

Capturing the Moments: Photo Sessions with Santa

Setting the Scene: Santa is no stranger to the limelight. Under his guidance, transform photos of your living space into a picture-perfect Christmas tableau. Whether it’s in front of the Christmas tree, by the fireplace, or with a backdrop of twinkling lights, your photos are poised to be a masterpiece.

From Candid to Posed: While the traditional Santa-and-me portraits are a must, also look forward to candid moments — a shared joke, wide-eyed wonder, or even a playful wink. These spontaneous snapshots often hold the most treasured memories. And don’t forget the all important group photo – recording the one singular moment when all the kids were together.

Story Time: Magical Christmas Tales

Journey Beyond the Ordinary: Santa’s sack isn’t just filled with toys but also tales from the farthest corners of the world, and beyond. As he narrates, feel the room transform — the walls might echo with the northern lights, or the floor might chill with the touch of the Arctic snow. Every story is a passport to a world where magic is the norm.

Interactive Narration: It’s not just about listening. Santa encourages questions, interruptions for wild guesses, and even for little ones to weave their own endings. Perhaps the brave elf in the story gets a new name tonight, inspired by an eager listener in the room.

Sharing Christmas Wishes Directly

Heartfelt Conversations: This isn’t a rushed exchange. With a twinkle in his eye and an open heart, Santa leans in to listen to every wish, no matter how big or small. From the latest toy to world peace, every dream is valid, and every whisper finds a listening ear.

Magic in the Making: As wishes are whispered, Santa might give a knowing nod or a cryptic smile, making one wonder what surprises Christmas morning will hold. This is a moment of pure hope and wonder, a bond between the dreamer and the legendary gift-bringer.

Each of these activities isn’t just a mere task; it’s a thread in the rich tapestry of your Christmas celebration, made all the more memorable by Santa’s magical touch.

Preparing to Meet Santa: What Families Need to Know

Setting the scene.

Creating the Right Ambiance: The visit of a Santa Claus entertainer is a theatrical experience, so setting the right mood can heighten the delight. Soft lighting, comfortable seating, and perhaps a dedicated space for the entertainer to perform or interact with the family can make a difference. Having holiday melodies playing softly in the background sets a festive tone.

Props and Decor: The more festive your space looks, the more immersive the experience will be. Hang stockings, display holiday crafts, or even designate a special “Santa’s chair” for the entertainer to sit in.

Refreshments for Santa

A Considerate Gesture: While we often think of leaving treats out for Santa, it’s a thoughtful touch to offer your Santa Claus a refreshment. Whether it’s a glass of water, a cup of tea, or a plate of cookies, this gesture ensures he’s energized for the performance.

Personal Touches

Notes and Wish Lists: Encourage children to prepare any letters, wish lists, or drawings they might want to share with the Santa Claus entertainer. It can be a part of the interaction, making the experience feel genuine and engaging.

Incorporate Family Traditions: If you have special holiday traditions, let the entertainer know ahead of time. Whether you always tell a particular story or sing a specific song, the entertainer can weave these special needs into the visit, making it uniquely yours.

Safety First

Ensuring Easy Access: Make sure there’s a clear path for the entertainer to move around, especially if they bring props or gifts as part of their act. Clear any hazards to ensure a smooth performance.

Pre-visit Communication: If there are any particular guidelines or requirements you’d like the entertainer to know before person visit – maybe about house rules, pets, or specific family customs – it’s good to share these details ahead of time. Our Santa Claus is a professional who strives to make his visit seamless, fun and accommodating.

Embracing the Experience

Participation is Key: While the Santa Claus entertainer is there to lead the festivities, active group participation can elevate the experience. Whether it’s joining in a song, engaging a child in a story, or playing a game, being involved makes the visit memorable.

Preparing for the visit from a Santa Claus entertainer is all about blending your family’s traditions with the magic the entertainer brings. Together, these elements craft a festive evening filled with memories, joy, and holiday spirit.

Safety and Professionalism: Santa’s Promise

Santa’s visits, while magical, are rooted in the reality of today’s world. Every chuckle, every whispered secret is ensconced in an environment of safety. Rest assured, Santa’s age-old values are seamlessly merged with the latest health and safety protocols.

Testimonials: Magical Moments from Families

Packing up the sleigh.

The charm of Christmas lies not just in the day itself but in the myriad magical moments leading up to it. A personal visit from Santa Claus weaves these moments into a shimmering tapestry of joy, wonder, and warmth. It’s not just an event; it’s an heirloom, an experience passed down through stories, smiles, and sparkling eyes.

How to Have a Smooth Home Visit from Santa Claus

' src=

Last updated on November 24, 2023

Now that Christmas is around the corner, lots of families are booking jolly ol’ Saint Nick for surprise home visits. We heard from one of our favorite Santas— Santa True —who gave us plenty of tips to help your home visit go off without a hitch.

While this article focuses on Santa as our example, there are wonderful Mrs. Clauses and other holiday entertainers who also do home visits!

What to Expect from Your Visit from Santa Claus

Every home visit is different, but here are some things you might expect:

  • A special entrance from Santa
  • Meet and greet
  • Photo opportunities
  • “Chair time” when kids (and adults!) can sit with Santa individually
  • Q and As with Santa
  • Performances such as singing, storytelling, or reading The Night Before Christmas
  • Handing out gifts
  • A hearty goodbye and magical exit

Before Your Visit from Santa Claus

Plan ahead and stay in touch with Santa before the day arrives so your home visit is a guaranteed success.

Talk with your performer

This isn’t their first sleigh ride, and they often have a wealth of tips and ideas that can help you. Every performer approaches events differently, and you will also have special things in mind. Call them, chat, and make certain to finalize your plans before the season is too busy.

Share key details about the event

Your performer will need to know how many people will be there and what ages. Be sure to share the names of the children—Santa will do his best to remember them. You can also introduce them simply, such as, “Santa, this is Suzy, who is seven years old, and Michael just turned nine.”

Share special considerations

Santa is happy to accommodate special needs for those he visits. He should also know about any language barriers or cultural considerations ahead of time.

Make sure Santa can get in

If you live in a gated community or have a special entrance in mind, make sure to share access codes and directions ahead of time.

Stay in communication

Santa needs the cell phone number of someone designated to wait for his text message when he is ready to make his entrance. Your point person should ensure their phone is fully charged, keep an eye on their messages, and be prepared to help with any issues.

Think about reminders of sadness or loss

If a loved one has passed recently or someone is currently stationed overseas, it helps Santa to know to avoid touching on sensitive issues. And if you have someone missing from the event, Santa could help you record a special message for them.

Don’t forget the elves!

Does your family participate in “Elf on the Shelf”? Santa loves being “in” on this tradition! But it helps Santa to know the names of those elves and what they have been up to.

Preparing for the Day of Your Visit from Santa Claus

There are several things to consider as you get your home ready for Santa on the day of your event.

Reserve a spot for Santa’s sleigh

Parking is important, especially if it’s limited (or your house is on a hill). Ask your Santa if they need a space reserved for them. One great method: Have someone park in Santa’s spot, then right before he arrives, pull the car out and leave a sign that says “Reserved for Santa.”

Prepare your seating arrangements

After Santa makes his entrance, he should have a designated place to sit. The best kind of chair for Santa is a strong one, preferably with a straight back and without arms. Santa needs his feet flat on the floor when he has someone in his lap. Often a dining room table chair will work just fine, and you can dress it up with a pretty Christmas blanket. Forest green or dark blue looks great in photos!

Where to put Santa’s chair

We recommend putting it near the Christmas tree or someplace well-lit with a festive background. Avoid putting Santa near the roaring fireplace; he’s already very warm. Keeping the house a little cooler is great for Ol’ St. Nick. Avoid putting him in front of lots of glass because you’ll get flash bounce and glare in your photos. Arrange the chair so the kids can sit down in front of him.

Think about background noise

A Christmas performance is for the whole family. When the music is blaring, or the crowd is loud and rowdy, some of the magic will be lost if Santa can’t be heard. While Santa is there, have everybody join in and have your revelers tone it down until Santa heads for the sleigh.

Have your payment ready

If you arranged your Santa visit with a split payment (a deposit paid earlier with the remainder due at the time of the visit) or if you want to give Santa a holiday tip, the best method is to have the payment and/or tip in a Christmas card and envelope at the front door, ready to hand to Santa when he comes in.

When you book a Santa Claus on GigSalad , you’ll pay the entire balance upfront, so you don’t have to worry about paying anything (except a tip, if desired) on the day of the event.

During Your Visit from Santa Claus

Parties can always get a little hectic, so stay on track and keep your guests happy with these tips.

Be a friendly host

Introduce Santa to both kids and adults; Christmas is for the kid in all of us!

Help Santa stay on time

Santa may have other families to visit, so be mindful of his dedicated time with you.

Assist with the details

Understand that Santa won’t be able to memorize every name. If you have a tradition, like a special cookie, nicknames, or customs, let your Santa know in advance and again at the event. Maybe remind him “of that time Santa brought something special” if this would be meaningful to the audience.

Encourage participation

Be upbeat and get everyone to join in on songs, stories, and other activities. If you show enthusiasm, others will too!

Coordinate the kids

As cute as it might be, sometimes it’s best not to put all the kids together. The younger, squirmier kiddos should stay in their parent’s laps. If a child is having a meltdown, have someone assigned to help them go somewhere where they can calm down.

Be flexible

Remember that all performances have unique pacing and rhythm based on your guests and home atmosphere. Be flexible and allow the timing to flow naturally.

Book Santa for a home visit!

Passing Out Gifts

Presents are the biggest part of Christmas! The big man in red is a pro at gift-giving, but there are a few things you can do to help him out.

Make sure Santa can find your gifts

Put your presents in a large plastic trash bag marked with a bright ribbon. Make sure it’s easily accessible and able to be lifted into Santa’s bag. If there are lots of presents or they are extremely heavy, get some elf hats and have a few helpers meet Santa outside. Remember, if you cannot carry all the gifts at once, it might be hard to have Santa carry all of them at the same time, too.

Don’t count on labels

Write the name clearly in large print with a marker directly onto the wrapping paper. Labels usually fall off in Santa’s bag. If this is a group gathering, make certain you can distinguish between people with the same name. If the names might be challenging, have someone help Santa with the pronunciations.

Have backup gifts

If this event includes many families, have a few small backup gifts just in case someone did not get the word. Stuffed animals and gift cards work well. You could even pass them over saying, “Oh, Santa, you dropped these.”

Decide how to open gifts

Of course, you can just hand them out and open them. Little kids will often just do this anyway. But another fun way is called a “Countdown and Out.” Santa hands out the presents, but everyone waits to open them until Santa is leaving. Santa starts the countdown, saying, “5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Merry Christmas!” Then the paper flies! The advantage is that Santa leaves at a high point, and no one tries to follow him out to see the reindeer. In fact, assign someone to make sure the kids don’t follow him outside.

Taking Photos with Santa Claus

Meeting Santa always needs photographic evidence, so be sure you’re ready for this important task. Don’t want the pressure on you? Hire a photographer instead!

Charge your batteries

Have all your cameras and smartphones ready, fully charged, connected to Wi-Fi, and prepared before the event begins.

Take photos first

Try to get the photos done early in the event. You’ll have time to get everything you want and folks are still fresh with the wonder of the visit. Then you can relax and just visit!

Photos with pets

Santa is usually good with animals, but there should be a lap blanket and plenty of advanced notice if you want photos with pets. If Santa has to visit someone else that day who is allergic to pets, he might not be able to hold your furry friend for the photo. Instead, he will ask you to hold them and stand or sit nearby.

 Santa Claus Reminders

✔ Santa is not likely to tell children they are on the naughty list, even if you ask him to.

✔ Santa is not likely to eat or drink beyond a few nibbles or sips. A bottle of water is always welcome. White gloves stain easily, and it can be difficult to keep a beard pristine.

✔ Santa will not accept any drink that is alcoholic. Remember, he has to drive the sleigh.

It’s 1965 and Holly Knight is the name on everyone’s lips in Belfast. Every woman wants to be her and every man wants to marry her. She’s a journalist, an agony aunt, a fashion icon, food expert, and homemaker extraordinaire...or at least that’s what she wants her readers to think!

It's not too long before Holly’s talents are noticed by the Editor of Belfast’s biggest newspaper, who is always looking for new ideas to boost circulation. Holly is thrilled when he offers her a column in the paper, and for a special Christmas edition he’s arranged for Holly to host a famous Hollywood star.

Featuring a stellar cast and a wonderful blend of nostalgia, comedy, music and romance, O Holly Knight! runs at the Theatre at the Mill from 29 November – 30 December.
