Stiff Little Fingers stress that even though this will be their last full-fledged tour of the United States, they still hope to play occasional stateside gigs moving forward.

“We’re fired up and looking forward to playing in America again for the first time in five years. Given the amount of touring we undertake, we’ve decided this will be our final US coast-to-coast tour,” stated frontman Jake Burns. “That doesn’t mean we won’t play occasional dates in the US in the future, but there will be fewer select shows, probably scheduled around festivals.”

Stiff Little Fingers formed in 1977 in Belfast and released four albums until their 1982 breakup. They re-formed in 1987 and have been active ever since, releasing another six albums since then. One of their signature tunes, “Alternative Ulster,” landed on Consequence ‘s list of the 50 Best Punk Songs of All Time .

Country singer Morgan Wallen arrested after throwing chair off bar rooftop in Nashville

slf tour

Country music singer Morgan Wallen was arrested overnight in Nashville on felony charges after he allegedly threw a chair from a downtown rooftop for "no legitimate purpose," police said.

Wallen , 30, was booked into jail early Monday morning on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct in connection to the late Sunday night incident, the Metro Nashville Police Department reported.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by USA TODAY, at 10:53 p.m. local time, two police officers were standing in front of Chief's Bar in the city's entertainment district on Lower Broadway when they saw a chair fall from above and hit the street about three feet from them.

In the affidavit, police wrote, the bar's staff members told officers Wallen threw the chair, and when officers reviewed video footage of incident, it showed him "lunging and throwing an object off the roof."

Chief's Bar, owned by country music singer, Eric Church, is a six-story building .

Witnesses told police they stood next to the country singer and watched him “pick up the chair, throw it over him, laughing afterward,” the affidavit continues.

Police wrote they arrested Wallen on reckless endangerment charges because two officers were in the area and the incident posed a danger to public.

The affidavit goes onto say officers arrested him for disorderly conduct because "he created a hazardous condition by an act that served no legitimate purpose."

Morgan Wallen Timeline of the country singer's rollercoaster career after his most recent arrest

Davidson County Sheriff's Office online records show Wallen was booked into jail at 12:36 a.m. local time and released from jail around 3:30 a.m.

A court official told USA TODAY Wallen posted a $15,250 bond.

A mugshot provided by Nashville police shows Wallen smiling in the photo.

No injuries were reported.

In a statement issued to USA TODAY through his representatives, Wallen's lawyer, Worrick Robinson, confirmed knowledge of the arrest and wrote Wallen is "cooperating fully with authorities."

Online court records show Wallen is due in court next month for a settlement hearing on the charge.

'Cowboy Carter' on the charts: Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' becomes Spotify's most-streamed album in single day in 2024

Where is Morgan Wallen from?

Morgan was born in Sneedville, a small city in Hancock County, Tennessee, roughly 70 miles northeast of Knoxville.

In February, the singer announced he plans to open a six-story bar along Lower Broadway called "This Bar." The title comes from Wallen's 2019 song where he sings, "I found myself in this bar / Making mistakes and making new friends."

Wallen’s most recent album “One Thing at a Time”  peaked at No. 1  on the Billboard 200 chart and produced the Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Last Night.”

Previously: Morgan Wallen asks fans to not defend him after racial slur

Wallen previously criticized for video of him saying racial slur

The arrest is not the first time Wallen has drawn scrutiny for his actions in public.

In February of 2021, Wallen apologized after a  video surfaced of him shouting a racial slur  in Nashville that prompted swift backlash from the music industry.

In a video posted to YouTube, Wallen described what is depicted in the video as "hour 72 of 72 of a bender."

"Obviously, the natural thing to do is to apologize further and just continue to apologize but because you got caught and that's not what I wanted to do," the singer said in the video. "I let so many people down. And [people] who mean a lot to me and give so much to me. And that's just not fair."

Top-ranked Korda cruises to T-Mobile Match Play final and will face Maguire

Lottie woad confirms spot in the chevron championship field following augusta national women’s amateur victory.

Nelly Korda

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Nelly Korda raced out to an early lead and beat the self-destructing Narin An 4 and 3 on Saturday in the semifinals of the T-Mobile Match Play to put herself a match away from her fourth straight LPGA Tour victory.

The world's top-ranked player will play Leona Maguire in the final Sunday. The Irish star beat Sei Young Kim 3 and 2.

"I know she's going to be fiery," Korda said. "That's just how Leona is. She's a great competitor. I think it'll be great to share the stage with her, and hopefully it'll be a good show."

Korda is trying to become the first LPGA Tour player to win four consecutive starts since Lorena Ochoa in 2008. The record is five, set by Nancy Lopez in 1978 and matched by Annika Sorenstam in 2004-05.

Korda took seven weeks off including the Asian part of the schedule after winning in January in her hometown of Bradenton, Florida. That means a victory this weekend would be her third consecutive in a scheduled event. Four players share the record of four straight, with Mickey Wright doing it twice.

Should Korda win, she will have the chance to equal that record in two weeks at The Chevron Championship, the year's first major.

"Nelly is the best in the world right now," said Maguire, 3-1 against Korda in team matches for Europe in the Solheim Cup, though they haven't met in singles. "She's on a really hot streak. It's been incredibly impressive what she's been doing in the past few weeks.

"It's going to be a really tough battle tomorrow. I've got a big challenge ahead of me. I'm excited. I mean, that's why you practice. You want to play the best players in the world and that's what Nelly is."

Korda was never tested in the semifinals, going 5 up through seven holes, needing only two birdies to take that lead. An bogeyed the first three holes before steadying herself and even winning a hole with a birdie on the par-4 10th hole.

That, however, was a temporary reprieve. An was never able to overcome the early deficit to seriously threaten Korda, who played the backside 3-over par.

"The back nine is a little tougher, so started to make a little bit more mistakes," Korda said. "Fatigue started setting in it just a little."

There was a tad more drama in the other semifinal. Maguire was 2 up through seven holes when Kim, the 2020 LPGA Tour Player of the Year, had an excellent chance to cut into the lead. But Maguire got up and down on the par-3 eighth, sinking a 12-foot par putt save to keep the advantage.

She picked up another shot when Kim bogeyed the par-4 10th, and the outcome was never truly in doubt after that.

"I think when you're doing these 36-hole days, it's who makes the least mistakes almost, especially on a golf course like today," Maguire said. "Really happy how I played."

Weather had been a major story during this tournament, and the temperature was 42 degrees with the players teed off Saturday morning in the quarterfinals. But the strong winds that plagued the previous two days was reduced to a breeze, and temps were in the 60s for the afternoon play.

Korda advanced to the semifinals by defeating Angel Yin 3 and 2, and Maguire beat Moriya Jutanugarn 4 and 3. Also, Kim routed Rose Zhang 6 and 5, and An beat Minami Katsu 1 up.

Berkeley Engineering

Educating leaders. Creating knowledge. Serving society.

Self-guided audio tour

Engineering has been a core part of UC Berkeley’s identity since it was founded in 1868. Follow along with audio that goes more in-depth into the history of Berkeley Engineering and the research and resources available.

McLaughlin Hall

McLaughlin Hall

Named for Donald McLaughlin, a professor at Harvard and Berkeley, first dean of engineering (1941–43), UC Regent (1951–67) and Peruvian gold mining tycoon. The building was designed by George Kelham.

McLaughlin houses the administrative offices of the College of Engineering and the Institute of Transportation Studies. It is also home to Engineering Student Services while the Engineering Center is under construction.

Artist's concept of new Engineering Student Center at dusk

Engineering Center

When the Engineering Center opens in 2025, it will provide one-stop access to the programs that help our students succeed — advising, career services, tutoring, academic and social events, and our signature entrepreneurship programs, including the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology and the Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology (M.E.T.) program.

Berkeley Engineering Self-Guided Tour, superimposed on McLaughlin Hall at sunset

Named for Professor Raymond Davis, who spent 50 years on the Berkeley faculty and developed the Engineering Materials Laboratory into one of the world’s finest.

Davis is the home to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and it houses several laboratories for earthquake engineering research, including the Structures and Materials Laboratory and the Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory. The building’s ground-floor “structures bay” rises two stories, providing space for testing many types of materials and designs, from scale models of California highway overpasses to segments of the Golden Gate Bridge. The lab is available to all researchers, professionals and clients from the industry to solve basic and applied problems in structural engineering. The Center for Access to Engineering Excellence (CAEE) is currently located on the third floor during the construction of the Engineering Center. CAEE is where students can find academic support, including tutoring and deep dives, the emergency laptop program, academic and professional workshops, a lending library, snack pantry and community space.

O'Brien Hall

O’Brien Hall

Named for Morrough O’Brien, who spent two decades as an engineering professor before serving as dean of the College of Engineering from 1948–59. O’Brien Hall is home to environmental engineering, environmental quality labs and the Water Resources Center Archives.

Hesse Hall

Designed by John Galen Howard and named for the Prussian-born founder of the College of Mechanics, Frederick Godfrey Hesse. Hesse houses labs for mechanical engineering and the new aerospace engineering program. This includes a state-of-the-art wind tunnel installed in 2023.

Blum Hall rendering

Named for Richard C. Blum, this building was constructed in 2010. It houses the Blum Center for Developing Economies. Their mission is to increase the well-being of people in developing countries by designing, adapting and disseminating scalable and sustainable technologies and systems.  The Blum Center is home to the largest minor on campus, the Global Poverty and Practice Minor . The east wing of Blum Hall was constructed in 1914 and designed by John Galen Howard, who also designed Doe Library. This building was seismically retrofitted and is the current home to the Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology dual undergraduate degree.

Sutardja Dai Hall

Sutardja Dai Hall

Opened in 2009, this 141,000-square-foot building is the headquarters of CITRIS, the multi-campus interdisciplinary research program that is one of four California Institutes for Science and Innovation. CITRIS aims to improve energy efficiency, transportation, environmental monitoring, seismic safety, education, cultural research and health care.

The building honors a team of accomplished Berkeley engineering graduates: brothers Sehat and Pantas Sutardja and Weili Dai, the trio that founded Marvell Semiconductor, and Ting Chuk. The building houses research labs, faculty offices, a nanofabrication lab, an auditorium and the Yali’s Qualcomm Cyber Café. A technology museum on the third floor is open to the public.

Soda Hall

In Soda Hall, “the building is the computer.” It is home to computer sciences and contains classrooms, labs and access to computer clusters for shared computing power, storage and services. Funded by the Y & H Soda Foundation and named in honor of Y. Charles and Helen Soda as a tribute to their commitment to education in the Bay Area. Soda Hall has open alcoves to encourage informal interactions among students and faculty, and the labs and offices are grouped to foster a team approach to computing innovation.

Etcheverry Hall

Etcheverry Hall

The first UC-built building on the northside of Hearst Ave. It was named for Bernard Etcheverry, professor of drainage and irrigation and chairman of that department for nearly three decades. It once held a functioning nuclear reactor in its basement and a research wind tunnel, both now dismantled. It houses three engineering departments including mechanical engineering (ME), nuclear engineering (NE) and industrial engineering, and operations research (IEOR), plus our newest major, aerospace engineering.

Etcheverry labs and shops include the UC Berkeley Automation Lab , which is a leading center for research in robotics and automation sciences; The Berkeley Computational Optimization Lab, where activities are concentrated predominantly on mathematical optimization with discrete decision variables; and the RADA Research Risk Lab, which is dedicated to studying risk analytics and data analysis.

Students in Etcheverry have access to the Student Electronics Shop, which provides resources and guidance to students involved in project-based mechatronics classes. Students visiting the shop have access to soldering equipment, cable assembly tools and measurement instruments.

Jacobs Hall

Jacobs Hall

The home of the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation, an interdisciplinary makerspace used by students across campus. Here you can get hands-on practice with design automation, rapid prototyping and commercial development. You’ll be challenged to approach the entire cycle of design, manufacturing and end-user needs from an integrated vantage point. Thanks to a $20-million commitment from the Paul and Stacy Jacobs Foundation, Berkeley Engineering launched theJacobs Institute for Design Innovation at the Clinton Global Initiative in June 2013.

Cory Hall

Named for Clarence L. Cory, late dean of the College of Mechanics and a faculty member for almost 40 years. Cory had a fifth floor added in 1985, which features a computer chip-inspired design motif on the exterior. It is home to electrical engineering, and the building houses a state-of-the-art electronic micro-fabrication facility and labs devoted to integrated circuits, lasers and robotics. Cory has the dubious distinction of being the only site bombed twice by “The Unabomber” in the 1980s.

Stanley Hall

Stanley Hall

Named for Wendell M. Stanley, who won the 1946 Nobel Prize in chemistry, served Berkeley as biochemistry chair (1948-53), virology chair (1958-64) and founder and director of the virus lab (1948-69). Built in 2007, it is home to the bioengineering department. The hall is also the Berkeley headquarters for the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences (QB3). The office and lab complex supports interdisciplinary teaching and research as part of the campus’s health science Initiative.

Hearst Memorial Mining Building

Hearst Memorial Mining Building

Home to the materials science and engineering department. Designed by John Galen Howard and financed by Phoebe Apperson Hearst as a memorial to her husband George. The building underwent a massive restoration, completed in 2002, that included cutting-edge seismic retrofitting to protect the building in the event of a major earthquake. The brittle foundation was replaced with a shock absorbent system of 134 steel and rubber bearings that allow the building to roll horizontally 28 inches in any direction. In addition to its meticulously restored vaulted entrance gallery, elegant sculptured windows and grand marble staircase, the building houses new laboratories for advanced experiments in computation, ceramics, metals and polymers, as well as facilities to develop nanoscale and superconducting materials. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
