Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh:- Counted amongst the seven holy cities of India, Ujjain is located on the banks of River Shipra in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. The city is quite rich in terms of cultural heritage as numerous temples, belonging to different eras are there within the city. Due to the same, the city is also called the Temple City. Another major attraction of the city is Kumbh Mela, which is the world’s largest religious gathering. It is held once every 12 years on the banks of River Shipra. All these reasons together make Ujjain the most-visited spiritual destination in Madhya Pradesh.

Haridwar, Uttarakhand:- Situated on the banks of the sacred River Ganges in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, Haridwar is also one of the seven holy cities of India. The city is highly important for Hindus as there are several temples in the city. Pilgrims from different corners of the world visit the city to take a dip in the holy river as it is believed that taking a bath in River Ganga absolves a person of all sins. The city is also famous for hosting Kumbh Mela, which is attended by millions of people. The mela is observed in the city once every 12 years, alternating between Ujjain, Nashik, and Prayagraj.

Pushkar, Ajmer:- Pushkar is a quaint town in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. The town is popular as it houses the famous Brahma Temple, which is one among the few existing ones in the world. Another major attraction of the town is Pushkar Camel Fair, which is one of the world’s largest cattle fairs. The fair also features several cultural events, races, and competitions. Anandpur Sahib, Punjab:- It is a pilgrimage site of Sikhs, situated in Rupnagar district of Punjab. Located between Shivalik Hills in the east and Sutlej River in the west, Shri Anandpur Sahib is highly significant for the followers of Sikhism as it houses Kesgarh Sahib Gurudwara, which is one of the five takhts. Hemkund Sahib, Uttarakhand:- Also known as Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, Hemkund Sahib is a gurudwara located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Devoted to the tenth guru - Guru Gobind Singh, the gurudwara has been mentioned in Dasam Granth and various Holy Scriptures. It is said that the shrine is located 4632 m above sea level in the Himalayas. Owing to its religious importance, a large no. of pilgrims pays a visit to the site. Basilica of Our Lady of Graces, Sardhana:- It is a Roman Catholic Church in Sardhana, which is a town, located 119 km away from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh in India. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the church was constructed in 1781 by Joanna Nobilis (Begum Samru). The architecture of the church is inspired from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome along with influences of Indian architecture and famous architect Palladio. Dargah Hazratbal, Srinagar:- Dargah Hazratbal is a Muslim shrine in Hazratbal, Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The name of the shrine is a combination of Hazrat (Farsi word, meaning respected) and Bal (Kashmiri word, meaning place). This signifies that the place is highly regarded by people in the region. Nestled on the northern bank of Dal Lake in Srinagar, it is considered as the holiest Muslim shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. The mosque contains strands of Prophet Muhammad’s hair, which is also known as the holy relic. The shrine was established by Inayat Begum. The holy relic is displayed to the public on special occasions by the descendants, i.e. male heirs of Inayat Begum. The shrine is also popular for offering beautiful views of the surroundings.

Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Ajmer:- Located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, it is a shrine dedicated to a Sufi saint, Moinuddin Chishti. Enclosing the Chsihti’s grave, the shrine is referred to by different names - Ajmer Dargah, Ajmer Sharif or Dargah Sharif. Situated at the foot of Taragarh Hill, the shrine consists of multiple white marble buildings, two courtyards, a massive gate, and a mosque containing the domed tomb of the saint. Urs festival is observed every year on 6th and 7th of Rajab. It is one of the holiest Muslim pilgrimages in India.

Haji Ali Dargah, Mumbai:- Situated on an islet off the coast of Worli in Mumbai, Maharashtra, it is a mosque and dargah of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. Dedicated to a Sufi saint, the dargah is a fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture. The dargah is surrounded by the sea on both sides. Owing to its location, the dargah becomes inaccessible during the high tide. Devotees from all across the world visit the dargah to seek blessings. It is one of the major attractions in Mumbai.

Nizamuddin Dargah, Delhi:- Located in Nizamuddin West area of Delhi, it is another dargah dedicated to a Sufi saint, Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya. Muhammad Bin Tughlaq of the Tughlaq Dynasty laid the foundations of the dargah. The dargah is very popular among people. Qawali sessions are organized every evening in the dargah. Ranakpur, Rajasthan:- Nestled in a valley on the western side of the Aravalli Range, Ranakpur is a village in Pali district of Rajasthan. There are 77 temples on a hill while 26 are situated in the village. The temple no. 57 located on a hill is the main temple. Dedicated to Lord Chandraprabhu, Sheetalnath, and Parsvanath, the temple is huge and also has an artistic spire. Apart from its spiritual significance, the town is also popular for the architectural brilliance of temples. The site is one of the major pilgrimage sites for Jains.

Shravanabelagola, Karnataka:- Shravanabelagola is a town situated in Hassan district of Karnataka. The town is highly important in Jainism as it has Gommateshwara Bahubali statue located on a hill, named Vindyagiri. The statue is a 57-foot monolith. Built by the minister and commander, Chavundaraya of the Ganga dynasty around 983 A.D., it is one among the largest free-standing statues in the world. The statue is that of Jain deity, Bahubali. The statue can be spotted from as far as 25 km away. A significant event, called Mahamastakabhisheka is celebrated once every 12 years. Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India:- Sanchi is a little town, which is located 46 km away from Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Counted amongst the oldest points of India, it is a major pilgrimage site for Buddhists. The town has various monasteries, viharas, toranas, and stupas honoring the life of Lord Buddha. Built by the emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE, the stupa is one of the oldest stone structures in the country.

Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Maharashtra:- Regarded as one of the best examples of rock cave architecture in India, Ajanta and Ellora Caves are located in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. They are situated approximately 100 km away from each other. The caves are carved out of basalt and are the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Ajanta Caves are approximately 30 in number and are rock-cut Buddhist monuments, dating from the 2nd century BCE to 480 CE. Similarly, there are more than 100 caves at the site of Ellora Caves, out of which only 34 caves can be accessed by the public. Sarnath, Uttar Prades:- Located near Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Sarnath is a small town. There is a deer park in Sarnath, where Gautam Buddha taught Dharma for the first time. Today, different countries abiding by Buddhism have established monasteries and viharas as per their cultures in Sarnath. It is one of the four holy sites of Buddhism that every Buddhist should visit. Sarnath is also the site where Lord Buddha taught the four noble truths and related teachings after attaining enlightenment. Apart from this, the town is also significant in Jainism as 11th Tirthankara, Shreyanshnath was born here. The temple dedicated to him is an important pilgrimage site in Sarnath for Jains.

Bodh Gaya, Bihar:- Bodh Gaya is located on the banks of River Niranjana in Gaya district of Bihar. It is the place where Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment under a tree. The tree is now referred to as Bodhi Tree. Bodh Gaya is regarded as the most important of the four sites related to the life of Lord Buddha. Your Itinerary: Spiritual Journey India Tour Package

Your spiritual adventure begins in chaotic Delhi where you’ll be welcomed by your tour guide Jay Weinstein, a Mumbai-based, Hindi and English-speaking photographer of Australian-American heritage who’s been based in India for the last 14 years (hint: this means he knows his stuff and you’re in safe hands). Here you’ll meet 4-11 travel companions who’ll make up your intimate tour group, before being transferred to your comfortable hotel to rest overnight.

The adventure begins! We travel to picturesque Rishikesh where you’ll settle into life in an ashram. Here you’ll experience Shiva Puja (the ancient Hindu tradition of worship to Lord Siva through the use of mantra, tantra, kriyas, mudras, and abhishekam) followed by Bhajan chanting. We stay in the ashram temple overnight for the first time.

The morning begins with scenic walk along the holy river Ganges, the third largest river in the world by discharge, and one of the most sacred to Hindus. After lunch we take a short drive to Laxman Jhoola to commence a walking tour through Rishikesh, which is sure to inspire you with its radiant beauty. At sunset witness a special prayer ceremony called ‘aarti’ on the banks on the Ganges at Parmath Ghat. Overnight Rishikesh.

Day Four to Ten: India Ashram Tour & Program

The ashram program is yours to explore. Immerse yourself in the world of yogis with a range of ancient healing and spiritual practices including yoga, pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, meditative walks, mantra and chanting.

We open discussion on Vedic philosophy with practical gems on how to apply this to daily life. Here’s your opportunity to ask all your questions and participate in an intimate sharing of personal insights and experiences among the group. During this stay we also visit Muni-ki-Reti or the “sands of the sages” and experience the aarti at Triveni Ghat. The last day of the program closes with a magical ‘fire ceremony’, before we make our way back to Delhi.

As I lay with my feet pointing towards Ma Ganga, listening to the river below, the music we were listening to began with the words, “Oh my beloved, I’m coming home, Om Namo Guru Dev Namo.” ... In the morning we soar to what’s known as the beating heart of the Hindu universe. A short flight away from Delhi, Varanasi is one of the world’s oldest cities to be continually-inhabited. The afternoon is yours to wander and play in the narrow alleyways of the old city and get lost in the high energy of this amazing place. At sunset, enjoy a boat ride on the Ganges and experience the beautiful aarti ceremony, honouring ‘Mother Ganga.’ Overnight Varanasi.

We rise at 6am to witness the early morning Hindu Prayer rituals during a boat ride on the Ganges, and then return to the hotel to replenish with a nourishing breakfast and downtime. Next, we take you on a walking tour of the winding alleyways of Varanasi’s fascinating old city and interesting sites. At sunset, attend the aarti ceremony at the Ghats. Also called ‘Fire Puja’, the ceremony is a dedication to the River Ganges, the Sun, Lord Shiva, Fire and the whole universe. Overnight Varanasi.

Day Thirteen

After breakfast we drive to Sarnath, where Buddha gave his very first sermon. Marvel at the ancient stupas, the Buddhist temple and archaeological museum before we fly back to Delhi for overnight stay.

Day Fourteen

Today we have an early drive to Agra for a guided tour of the world-famous and breathtaking jewelled Taj Mahal, described as the most extravagant monument ever built in the name of love. We also visit the colourfully decorated ‘Baby Taj’ and Fatehpur Sikri, an enchanting ghost city built in 1571 by the Moguls, before a short drive to Bharatpur for overnight.

Day Fifteen

We take a fun early rickshaw ride around the peaceful Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a UNESCO-listed bird sanctuary home to approximately 380 bird species from across the globe. After a leisurely breakfast, we drive to Vrindavan, land of Lord Krishna, to explore some of the temples and sites including the very interesting old city and a walk around the Parikrama Path. Day Sixteen

It’s almost over. We spend the morning in Vrindavan before driving back to Delhi for a final group dinner with fellow travellers who by now you’ll no doubt call friends. It’s your final evening on the tour, but not the last you’ve seen of India (we hope).

Day Seventeen

After breakfast, we exchange goodbyes and contact details. You have the option to transfer to the airport for flights back home or spend the day at your leisure.

All through the journey, you have the Mumbai-based international photographer, Jay Weinstein by your side. Jay moved to India at age 3 with his parents, both teachers on a search for meaning. Jay spent the next 12 years living in an ashram environment in Vrindavan, a historic town filled with temples and cheeky monkeys, two hours south of Delhi.

One does not grow up in the pilgrimage centre of India without learning a thing or two about spiritual principles and teachings. Raised by a philosopher (father) and artist (mother) with ten years of education on traditions, scriptures, art and culture, Jay is no stranger to India’s spiritual history and wisdom.

At 15, Jay’s family moved back to Australia for his secondary education. As you step-in India, the traditional welcome awaits in the arrival lounge of Delhi airport with garlands, then we will introduce with your driver who will comfortably transfer to the hotel. Complete the check-in at the hotel with our assistance. Recover from the jetlag before you start this wonderful spiritual journey on our Spiritual India Tour.

Begin the spiritual experience with Lotus Temple – a Bahai House of worship built in a flowerlike shape in 1986. Bahai faith teaches important aspects of all religions. Later, visit the Jama Masjid of Old Delhi- one of the largest Friday mosques in India.

To understand the Jain religion, visit the oldest Jain Temple in Delhi best known as Shri Digambar Jain Temple. Jainism is one of the ancient Indian religions. Next, visit Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah – an essential place to understand Sufism – a mystical form of Islam. In the end, visit Akshardham Temple – the largest Hindu temple on the earth associated with the Swami Narayan Faith of Hinduism.

Delhi–Dharamshala

In the morning, transfer to the airport to embark the flight journey to Dharamshala. Receive from Dharamshala airport and transfer by surface to Mcleodganj located on the Dhauladhar range of Himalayas and has an altitude of 2082 meters. Relax at the hotel after finishing the check-in process. Mcleodganj is the seat of the Tibetan Government in exile and also the seat of Dalai Lama thus known as Little Lhasa.

A large population of Tibetan Buddhists resides in Mcleodganj around Dalai Lama Temple and monastery. This is the best place to understand Tibetan Buddhism and to interact with Tibetans who crossed the border along with His Holiness Dalai Lama.

Dharamshala

Start the tour of Mcleodganj with Namgyal Monastery popularly called as Dalai Lama Temple, this is a personal monastery of His Holiness 14 th Dalai Lama, his residence is also adjacent to the monastery. In Dalai Lama Temple, visit the statue of Padmasambhava, Avalokitesvara, and Shakyamuni. Visit the museum inside the complex which has a photo journey of Tibetans arriving in India after an uprising in Tibet.

Later on, the spiritual journey of India, walk through the markets of Mcleodganj to see various arts, crafts, and textiles made by Tibetans and try the Tibetan delicacies. Also, you can visit Anglican Church St. John in the Wilderness located in the forest.

Dharamshala–Amritsar

Drive towards Mecca of Sikhism Amritsar – the holiest place for Sikh faith – another major religion of India founded by Guru Nanak at the end of the fifteenth century. The followers of Sikhism are known as Sikhs meaning disciple, they are a worrier race. Check in to the hotel and enjoy the vibrant Punjabi hospitality on your spiritual vacation in India.

Later, visit Golden Temple to witness the important night ceremony called Palki Sahib Ceremony when the sacred book Guru Granth Sahib is taken from the main shrine of the Golden Temple to the sleeping chamber. The atmosphere at night is spectacular in the Golden Temple Complex. Walk back to the hotel to relax for the night.

Relish Punjabi breakfast at the hotel and then start the day tour of Golden Temple Complex also referred to as Harmandir Sahib and Darbar Sahib. Sikh Temples are known as Gurudwara’s main gateway to the teacher. First, visit the community kitchen in the temple complex which is one of the biggest in India.

Walkthrough the compound where the devotees are taking the bath in the holy pond and enter the inner sanctum. Later in the afternoon, drive to the Attari-Wagha border to see the pulsating flag retreat ceremony between Indian and Pakistani forces. Return back to the hotel in Amritsar to retire for the day.

Amritsar–Varanasi

Today, fly to the major spiritual center of India – Varanasi believed as the oldest living place on the planet located by the banks of the holiest river for Hindus – the Ganges. After receiving it at the airport, welcome with the garland made by the seeds of the Rudraksha Tree.

Rudraksha translates to the eyes of Lord Shiva. Later, transfer to the Ghats (River Fronts) of the River Ganges to witness the evening Aarti (Prayer) – this will be a great spiritual experience to watch it live with seas of devotees chanting and enjoying. Transfer back to the hotel to have dinner and take rest for the night so you can be fresh for the next day of your Spiritual India Tour.

Wake up early in the morning and reach to the Ghats by car to start the sunrise boat ride over holy River Ganges. Apart from enjoying the sunrise, you will be watching various spiritual & religious rituals by the people after taking the holy dip in the sacred water of Mother Ganges that is what Hindus believe about River Ganges. Varanasi–Bodhgaya

Check out from the hotel after breakfast and transfer to the most sacred place for Buddhists – Bodhgaya. Upon arrival, check-in & lunch at the hotel. Later, visit Mahabodhi Temple – UNESCO World Heritage Site and the place where Lord Buddha realized Buddhahood or enlightenment after meditating for several weeks under a Bodhi Tree which is actually a Banyan Tree.

Walkthrough the temple complex visiting the holy pond, various small shrines, and stupas and you can also meditate under Bodhi Tree along with Buddhist Monks. Bodhgaya-Delhi

In the morning, you have the option to visit Mahabodhi Temple once again to meditate in the spiritually charged atmosphere of Bodhgaya. Day 1 : Tirupathi

On arrival at Tirupati, you will be greeted by our tour representatives and taken to Pamban Bridge at Rameshwaram. Later, get into the hotel in Tirupati and relax for some time. In the evening, get ready for an optional sightseeing tour to Tirupati. Move back to the hotel in Tirupati for overnight stay.

Day 2 : Tirupati- Bangalore ( 250 Kms)

Today after breakfast, continue for the Tirupathi touring which incorporates the Sri Padmavati Samovar Temple, Tiruchanoor, Sri Kalyana Venkateshwaraswami Temple, Sri Kodandaramaswami Temple, Sri Kapileshwaraswami Temple, Sri Govindarajaswami Temple, Shrinivasa Mangapuram. After breakfast, continue to Kanyakumari. Visit the Vivekananda Rock, Gandhi Memorial, Dhyana Mandapam, Valluvar Statue, and the Sunrise and Sunset Beaches. Enjoy your overnight stay at the hotel in Kanyakumari.

Day 10 : Departure
