See Katie Holmes' rare photos of look-alike Suri, her daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise

Katie Holmes is celebrating her mini-me daughter Suri Cruise 's birthday with some rare pictures.

To celebrate her daughter turning 15 on Sunday, Holmes, who is famously private about the teen, posted three Instagram photos of Suri taken throughout the years. Homes shares the teen with ex-husband Tom Cruise , to whom she was married from 2006 to 2012.

In one of the pictures, Holmes cradles her look-alike daughter in arms. In another, Suri smiles for the camera while giving mom a big hug.

"Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!!" Holmes wrote in the caption. "I can’t believe you are already 15!"

Other stars gushed over the cute photos in the comments.

"Happy birthday," commented Viola Davis, adding a heart emoji.

"Happy happy 15th!!" wrote "Good Witch" star Bailee Madison. "Can’t believe she is 15 now. All my love to you both"

Though Holmes is known for keeping her daughter out of the spotlight, the "Dawson's Creek" star, 42, opened up about bonding with Suri during the coronavirus pandemic  in her November cover story for Vogue Australia .

"Hobbies such as sewing, painting and writing became new hallmarks of satisfaction and having had time at home to just be," she wrote. "To listen. To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift."

Holmes also recalled how spending time with a friend with a young child made her reminisce about raising Suri.

"Taking time in Washington Square Park with a friend whose little child was taking his first steps brought me back to when my own child began to walk," she wrote. "I felt nostalgic and in awe of the power of time and the continuation of life."

On Sunday, Katie Holmes celebrated her only child's latest milestone with a sweet Instagram post, featuring a trio of rare black-and-white images of her daughter.

In the first photo, a younger Suri is seated in a kitchen with two boys, while the second and third show her being hugged by her proud mama.

"Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!! ❤️💕😘," Holmes, 42, wrote in the caption . "I can't believe you are already 15!"

Holmes is relatively private when it comes to offering glimpses of her daughter on social media (and rarely shows her face), but seems to make exceptions for her birthday .

Last year, the former Dawson's Creek star shared a photo of a floral wall decoration designed in honor of Suri's birthday and wrote a touching message to her teenager: "💕 Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!!!!!! 💕 I am so blessed to be your mom. May this year be incredible! 💕💕💕💕."

She later posted another image, which showed Suri from behind, donning a pink-and-white floral crown. Holmes captioned the latter snapshot , "Birthday vibes 💕💕."

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight that summer, the Pieces of April actress called the socially distanced party "a beautiful moment," adding, "This year is a reminder that the simple things are really beautiful. I think when you have less, you are more creative."

As the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown continued, Holmes wrote a piece for Vogue Australia's November issue , explaining that the unusual year allowed for more introspection and quality time with her daughter.

"Hobbies such as sewing, painting and writing became new hallmarks of satisfaction and having had time at home to just be. To listen," she wrote at the time. "To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift ."

The Batman Begin actress went on to recall how, during isolation, she reinforced her mantra to be more present in her daily life.

"During this time of uncertainty, remembering to be creative and positive has been something I have tried to keep at the forefront of my mind," said Holmes. "Throughout this experience the through-line for me has been a heightened awareness of each moment and really taking it in and appreciating it."

• This weekend, Suri Cruise turned 14 and her mom,  Katie Holmes , celebrated the occasion on Instagram.
• On Saturday, the actress shared a rare photo of her teenaged daughter on her  personal Instagram  to mark the big day.
• The picture was taken from behind and doesn't show Suri's face—but  does  show off the birthday girl's incredible, pink and white flower crown, which perfectly matches her pink and white tie-dyed shirt. 

Suri Cruise  turned 14 (I  know , right?) this weekend, and  Katie Holmes  gave the rest of the world an Instagram gift for the occasion: A  rare picture of Suri .

True, the picture in question doesn't actually show, you know, Suri's  face  or anything, but it's still a picture of the elusive, effortlessly cool teen so we'll take it.

The photo, taken from behind, shows off  Suri's long, long brunette locks,  which the birthday girl topped with a fun, oversized, pink and white flower crown. Suri, naturally, matched said crown to her pink and white, tie-dyed top.

"Birthday vibes,"  Katie captioned  the picture, along with a couple of double heart emojis (also in pink, of course).

Earlier in the day,  Katie shared a picture of the homemade happy birthday banner  (also complete with large flowers) the she hung in celebration of the big event:

How Suri Cruise's lifestyle with mom Katie Holmes has drastically changed ahead of adulthood

The only child of katie holmes and tom cruise will be turning 18 on april 18.

Suri Cruise is counting down the days until adulthood, as the teenager turns 18 on April 18. Katie Holmes ' mini-me will no doubt have a day to remember with her mom and friends in New York City, where she has grown up since childhood. 

However, the 17-year-old's life has changed quite a lot over the years, as her early years were very different to the laidback lifestyle she is experiencing today. 

Born in Santa Monica, California, Suri grew up in Hollywood in an impressive $40M Beverly Hills mansion with her dad Tom Cruise and mom Katie, complete with a swimming pool, children's playground and guest houses. 

They lived there until Katie and Tom's separation in 2012. The then-couple also nested in a beautiful $59M house in Colorado, which had everything from a private trail system, ice hockey rink and a library.

What's more, Suri was also in the spotlight with her parents regularly, with her mom even coming to her defense back in 2009 when the then three-year-old was pictured on a number of occasions wearing heels. 

At the time, Katie told Access Hollywood: "Like every little girl, she loves my high heels. They are actually ballroom dancing shoes for kids. I found them for her and she loves them."

Since Katie and Tom's split, which has since resulted in the Mission Impossible actor becoming estranged from his daughter, Suri has grown up for the majority of her childhood in New York City. 

The cosmopolitan city has everything available to eat, buy and do, and Suri will have enjoyed having an exciting but down-to-earth lifestyle as a result. 

Celebrities love NYC because they can enjoy a sense of anonymity, and Katie has certainly ensured that's been the case for her daughter. The proud mom doesn't share pictures of Suri on social media anymore, but has occasionally opened up about how proud she is of her only child. It's clear that Suri has developed her parents' talents for performing, and showcased her incredible singing voice back in 2022. 

Suri was heard singing the opening credits of Katie's film, Alone Together, when she was just 15. She sang a pitch-perfect rendition of Blue Moon, and her mom was more than proud. 

Chatting to Yahoo! Entertainment about her daughter's role in the movie, she said: "She's very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it and I let her do her thing. "That's the way I direct in general: It's like, 'This is what I think we all want - go do your thing'." 

The mom-of-one was asked why she chose Suri for the job and she said: "I always want the highest level of talent, so I asked her." Suri is incredibly creative and these skills have been encouraged by her mom. Katie previously revealed that the pair enjoyed many crafty hobbies during the height of the pandemic during lockdown. "I painted, we had a sewing machine, so we were making quilts, we were cooking; we were on a perpetual vacation," Katie told the sophomore issue of Amazing magazine. 

"We were also on a lake and there was a hammock, so I would wake up, sew, have coffee, take a nap on the hammock [laughs]… Oh and, by the way, I have to throw this in; we were staying by a lake, so we probably watched Dirty Dancing ten times. Let me tell you, I danced to it in the living room, and it still holds up. It was fun."

“You’d struggle to find a mom-daughter duo who are more in sync with each other,” a source told Us . “They’re a real team—their connection is a beautiful thing to witness.”

A second source said that Cruise has a close group of friends and is "well liked." She is also a talented athlete. “Suri is very naturally athletic and excels at physical activities like gymnastics and dance,” that source said.

Katie doesn't post about her daughter often, but she shared two tributes on Suri's birthday. "💕Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!!!!!! 💕 I am so blessed to be your mom. May this year be incredible! 💕💕💕💕" she wrote in her first one.

Her second shot was one of her daughter from behind. "Birthday vibes 💕💕" Katie wrote.

Katie spoke to ELLE.com in November about how she tries to be a fitness role model to Suri. "My dad ran the Boston Marathon when he was 45," she said. "I mean, that really set the bar for me. Like, 'Oh, I want to do that. He can do that. That's so cool.' I think it's nice when you have someone who's setting that example. I mean, I like to set nice examples and work out but not be too obsessed or anything like that for my own daughter."

Katie Holmes  took to Instagram on Wednesday to post a picture of her pre-teen daughter. The black-and-white snapshot showed the little lady wearing a birthday tiara in honor of her 12th trip around the sun.

The proud mom captioned the photo with 12 tiny pink hearts.

The Dawson's Creek star clearly likes to make her daughter feel special on her big day. Last year, Holmes celebrated with several birthday cakes and a glittery "Happy Birthday" sign. She also posted a photo of a balloon-filled hallway. 

"A very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sweetie," the star wrote at the time.

There's no denying there's a fascination with the famous family. In fact, Suri appeared on the cover of  Vanity Fair  with Holmes and  Tom Cruise  when she was just a few months old. As the years went on and Holmes and Cruise went through a public divorce, the attention surrounding the family grew.

The  Batman Begins  star opened up about raising a child in the limelight to  Town & Country  in 2017.

"In today's world, a lot of celebrities probably shield their children from the tabloids. In my household, we know what they print isn't true, so we don't pay attention,"  she told the magazine.  "There are more important things."

She also talked about balancing motherhood with her career as an actress and director.

Suri Cruise was all smiles while out and about in New York City with friends ahead of her 18th birthday.

Crusie looked the spitting image of mom Katie Holmes while spending Sunday alongside a gaggle of her girlfriends in Soho.

The teenager, whose birthday is April 18, dressed casually cool in a red sweater with white vertical stripes, a white silk skirt and brown sandals.

She kept her dark brown hair down in loose waves, pinning her front pieces back with two hair clips.

The group seemingly stopped at a couple of shops and cafes as they embraced one of NYC’s first sunny spring days.

While it’s unclear how the teen will be spending her big birthday, it likely won’t be with her famous father, Tom Cruise.

Page Six revealed last year that Suri has been estranged  from the “Mission Impossible” star for years.

While a source told us at the time that Tom has played “no part” in his daughter’s life, another Hollywood insider told us this week that the father-daughter duo haven’t seen each other since 2012.

“Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the source said. “This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

For all the sentimental talk of new beginnings and fresh starts, spring can mark such a tumultuous time of year. Everyone is turning in their big, final reports in hopes of being done with it all in time for summer. Daffodils, that early augury of change, peek their heads from the ground, cherry blossoms pop, and everywhere you look, there’s a riot—a riot of flowers. Temperatures climb, then fall, then climb again. No one has any idea what to wear. Except Suri Cruise. You heard me. Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom and his former wife Katie Holmes, knows exactly what to wear.

We’ve watched Cruise, an indoor kid, grow from a debut in this very magazine to the age of 13, as of yesterday, if you can possibly believe it. Paparazzi pictures arrive in the Daily Mails of the world like biannual family updates, and it became clear at the close of last year that Cruise’s bid for style star 2k19 should be taken seriously. And here now, look: Cruise, Holmes, and two other girls were photographed going to dinner at Nolita’s Delicatessen wearing an entire spring wardrobe inspiration board.

If there is one takeaway from the little slices of Cruise’s life—there at the dog park , here selling lemonade , there hailing a taxi, here at dinner in Lower Manhattan—it’s a style consistency that adults pay other adults to give them. Who knows? Maybe the young Cruise does have a stylist, or maybe she’s in perfect harmony with her ever-chic mother. But her commitment to pink prints, pink shoes, and big bows has been unerring for yet another year in her short life. Yes, like the daffodils and the cherry blossoms, seeing the young Cruise grow one year older and one printed dress richer is a sign that New York’s long winter is over.

The striking thing about Cruise is that, based on these paparazzi photos at least, as long as she’s been middle school-aged, she’s maintained a crew of two other girls—three total—who dress nearly identical to her. Which makes sense! At this time more than ever, sameness is currency. Difference is a scourge. I’m still certain Cruise is the ringleader of this group, mostly because she’s Suri Cruise, but this recent birthday outing is a study in middle-school girl dynamics vis-a-vis retail. The two other girls have the most similar shoes, for example—pink suede sneakers with a platform sole. Cruise’s are slightly different, which means something. She does match exactly with one of the other girls in one regard: Susan Alexandra bags. These two are carrying a purse that art teens twice their age are carrying at Coachella right now. They’re bonded by the bag.

According to the time-honored dictum of middle school that states, “Do unto your parent’s credit card as others have done unto their parent’s credit card,” we imagine one of them got it for a birthday or just because, and the other one followed. In groups of three there is always an odd one out—especially at that age. The dynamic changes and shuffles through high school, but then you all go to college and eventually you’re in each others’ weddings, and it’s all forgotten. That’s what Game of Thrones is about, I’ve heard. A group of best friends jockeying for favor with the coolest one, while everyone waits for a big wedding.

Being the daughter of well-known celebrities like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes comes with a price. Some good, some bad. From her silent birth in 2006 to her inevitable growth into a teenager, the life of Suri Cruise has been both known — and unknown — to the general public. While we can assume that her life at home is drenched in high-class privilege, that kind of lifestyle can be difficult for a growing child to manage — something which Holmes made sure to oversee ever since her sudden divorce from Tom in 2012 . Despite the attention, Suri Cruise may attract due to her notable parents, her life at home isn't entirely lawless. In hopes of granting her daughter some sense of "normalcy" in her life, Holmes tries to instill the values her family taught her into her now 16-year-old daughter (via People).

What are these "normalcies" exactly? Some of these may include freedom of expression, embracing gratitude, and, most importantly, having a good relationship with her family. It's clear Katie Holmes wants nothing but the world for her daughter, but she also wants her to understand the role that privilege plays in the Holmes household. It's merely a construct that allows her to have a great life, not something that determines worth and value. In addition to this, there are a lot of other anecdotes about her life that may shock us. To explore that notion further, here are a few things we know about Suri Cruise's life at home.

Suri Cruise doesn't see her father that often

The relationship between a child and their father should be nurtured and protected. Sadly, this doesn't seem to be the case with Suri Cruise and her absent father. Since Tom Cruise's last public outing with his daughter was in 2012, it's safe to assume that their relationship isn't on good terms. Although Tom stated that he still loves his daughter (via Hollywood Life ), the two haven't had much contact over the years. So much so that in 2016, InTouch Weekly stated that Tom had not seen or spoken to her in over two-and-a-half years. As of April 18, 2021, many believe that the number of days without contact has increased since Tom Cruise spent his daughter's 15th birthday in England shooting "Mission: Impossible 7."

Their strained relationship may have caused Suri Cruise to no longer reach out to her estranged father. Despite custody rulings limiting the number of times Tom could visit her, he seems to blame his fatherly shortcoming on his on-screen commitments — with one source telling New York Post that "if he wanted to see her, he could see her" (via Hindustan Times ) In hopes of avoiding negative attention from the public, Katie and Suri have not spoken about the distressing relationship. As their mother and daughter bond grows fonder, it seems that Tom Cruise may be a sensitive subject that the two choose not to speak about publicly — as it may lead to opening old wounds.

Suri Cruise doesn't practice Scientology

Often, religious beliefs held by parents can wreak havoc on the livelihood of their growing child. Although Suri Cruise spent her earlier years close to those in the Church of Scientology, it was merely due to Tom Cruise's influence. Tom has become a prominent figure in the Church of Scientology ever since his first wife, Mimi Rogers , introduced him to the now-controversial religion (via The Daily Beast ). What Katie Holmes described as an "intense time" for herself and her daughter resulted from a sudden — yet calculated — breakup that saw The Dawson Creek actress escape the clutches of Tom's religious lifestyle. In a deposition regarding his $50 million lawsuit against Life & Style and InTouch magazines for defamation, Tom revealed that his religion may have played a role in his divorce — suggesting that their split was not only for her sake but for Suri's as well (via New York Daily News ).

When asked if Holmes wanted to stay away from Scientology to protect Suri, Tom stated, "Did she say that? That was one of her assertions, yes." Furthermore, when lawyers asked if Holmes still practices Scientology, Tom said, "no." Alongside growing a distaste for the celebrity-centric religion, it seems that Holmes doesn't want her child to be involved with Scientology in any way. Her move from Los Angeles to New York City was likely an attempt to distance herself and her daughter away from the lifestyle she seemingly dislikes.

She attended private school after her parents divorced

To honor Tom's religious beliefs, Suri spent her earlier years being homeschooled. According to an interview with New York Magazine, Katie Holmes said she loved having "one-on-one education." Since their divorce, however, Holmes opted to have Suri attend school in hopes of giving her a normal life — something that most children of successful actors-slash-actresses don't have. Despite reports suggesting that Suri was enrolled in the Manhattan private school, Convent of the Sacred Heart, E! News stated that she attended Avenues in 2012 — the same year Tom and Holmes called it quits. Although Avenues may not have an alum full of notable celebrities like Paris Hilton or Lady Gaga, the lavish private school offers Suri the sense of normalcy that Holmes is looking for. The school enforces dress codes, it's academically advanced, and doesn't offer any special treatment whatsoever.

Although this may seem counterintuitive due to how protective and private Holmes is, she understands the importance of having Suri get a good education without isolating her. It also helps that the luxurious private school doesn't give away information about the students attending the school. According to E! News, an Avenues representative stated, "It is our policy not to comment on any prospective or current student, parent, and family members." While a $40,000 per year private school isn't necessarily "normal," it is as normal as it can get for a child like Suri.

Katie Holmes limits her time online

Since their move to New York City, Katie Holmes seems to dislike drawing attention to herself and her beloved daughter. While we all know about their adorable relationship, we only see glimpses of it through brief responses in interviews and quick snapshots on Holmes' Instagram. According to an interview by People , Holmes is very selective with what she chooses to share on social media. "I try to post things that take time," Holmes stated, "I am careful with what I share; I think about it. To me, it's like a magazine." Although Suri Cruise has grown into her own, it seems that her mother's influence made her stray from social media altogether. 

We all know that the internet can be a very dark place. As the daughter of two megastars, Suri may be an easy target for those wanting to leave cruel comments. Despite what some fan accounts may tell you, her presence on social media is practically non-existent. Why? Because Holmes prioritizes living life over experiencing it through a phone. While this may seem unappealing to a child, it appears that Suri has grown into a well-rounded adult because of this. According to Marie Claire , she revealed one of the challenges she's faced as Suri's parent was "limiting the amount of time both her and her daughter spend on the internet."

Suri Cruise does 'small acts of kindness' often

Suri Cruise was fortunate enough to be born into wealth. Oftentimes, you'll find that children with her amount of notoriety have everything at their fingertips — making it easier for them not to be a good person. To prevent Cruise from becoming that "spoiled rich girl," Katie Holmes insisted on giving her daughter a normal upbringing. Through that, Holmes understood her role as a parent, stating, "I do a lot to put perspective on life" (via Today ). According to Holmes, she and Suri spend a lot of time giving back to those in need. "We help out the homeless. We do small acts of kindness," she told Today. "Again it's a daily thing."

Evidence of this can be found on her Instagram page where she shared pictures of their trip to the Morian Refugee Camp — known for its horrific living conditions, overpopulation, and cases of assault — in 2019. As a member of the nonprofit organization Artolution , Holmes volunteered alongside her daughter and several women to craft public art pieces in hopes of invoking positive change (via Marie Claire ). While life at home for Suri may yield privileges many of us wished to have as a child, it seems that Holmes is doing her part in making sure that Suri is aware of those that are less fortunate and doing all that she can to help out. All in the name of being a good human being.

She's encouraged to engage in extracurricular activities

Suri Cruise may have her mother's nurturing personality, but according to Katie Holmes, she definitely has her father's athletic ability (via YouTube ). Knowing this may have influenced Holmes into allowing her daughter to fine-tune her gifts through whatever medium she chooses. Trying to understand your child's sporadic endeavors can be a harrowing task as a parent. However, Holmes intended to create a positive environment in which Suri is encouraged to pursue her aspirations freely. "We just focus on what she's passionate about and how you feel when you achieve your goals. Be true to your sense of opinions," Holmes told Today , "I listen to her."

From her earlier years in ballet to her now natural aptitude for singing , Suri's freedom to engage in extracurricular activities shaped her into the multi-talented teenager she is today. While Holmes can pat herself on her back for raising such a capable individual, Suri's "strong personality" also had a heavy hand in how she went about conquering certain goals. According to an interview with InStyle , Holmes revealed just how much of a hard worker her daughter is — stating, " She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it. Then she's like, 'Okay, I'm going to try the next thing.'" Rinse and repeat. To have this kind of mentality at a young age is truly inspiring. At this point, who knows what else the versatile 16-year-old will master in the near future.

She was allowed to wear makeup at a young age

Katie Holmes has expressed her desire to raise Suri Cruise to be individual. Through that, we may see Holmes use unpopular methods of achieving that, like allowing Suri to wear lipstick at such a young age. Although it doesn't directly harm a child's well-being — depending on how you view it — dowsing your 5-year-old daughter's face in makeup is something that most mothers would disapprove of immediately. Luckily for Suri, Holmes is far from a "regular mom." For those still confused about why this was the case, her interview with Elle magazine in 2011 gave us insight into why this was allowed in the Holmes household.

According to Holmes, Suri expressed interest in fashion when she was only four years old — a year before she was spotted wearing makeup (via Hollywood Life ). Holmes revealed that Suri doesn't hold back her opinions on the outfits her mom chooses to wear. "Like today I'm wearing brown suede pants, and she said, 'I don't like your pants,'" Holmes told Elle (via Yahoo! ), "But then she'll say, 'You've got to wear these shoes.' Or 'That's so pretty, Mom. Wear that.'" Suri's strong opinions and advice on her mother's fashionable ensembles could have potentially led to her allowance to wear makeup. Suri's great eye for fashion caught the attention of the passionate fashionista herself early on. Despite public opinion, Holmes decided to stay faithful to her word and allowed her daughter to express herself through fashion.

Suri Cruise has a strong relationship with her family

A healthy life at home is rooted in the relationship you have with your family. At its core, the support of a loving family can reinforce healthy habits — both physically and mentally — that will stay for years to come. Ever since Holmes' 2012 divorce, she's been firm about raising Suri with the same values she was taught as a child. According to a close relative, Holmes took frequent road trips with Suri to introduce her to her extended family members in Toledo, Ohia (via Radar Online ).

"As the youngest of five, Katie loved growing up in a big family," the family insider stated, "So she wants exactly the same experience for Suri." In hopes of granting Suri a normal life, the family member revealed that Holmes wanted to introduce Suri to her cousins because she was worried Suri wasn't meeting enough kids her own age. Due to Tom Cruise's protective nature, Suri's life at that point was filled with nothing but luxury and privilege. The transition for the 6-year-old princess wasn't easy since she wasn't used to the concept of "sharing her toys with her cousins." However, that slowly faded as the family member stated that her lively personality won them all over. "They'd only ever seen Suri in magazines and in family photos," they told Radar Online, "So they felt extra special to meet a celebrity their own age."

She stays away from the limelight

Although attending a $40,000 per year private school while living in a $25,000-a-month penthouse apartment on the upper west side of Manhattan isn't exactly normal, Holmes does her best to give Suri Cruise the chance to have a private life. Despite run-ins with paparazzi, Suri's appearance in public is usually alongside her mother. When Holmes first moved to New York after her divorce in 2012, she stated that she felt overwhelmed by the amount of attention she was getting (via InStyle ). "That time was intense. It was a lot of attention, and I had a little child on top of it," Holmes told the publication.

This "intense time" for the mother-and-daughter duo was likely the catalyst for their commitment to privacy. In hopes of straying away from the intrusive nature of the public, Holmes tries to shield her daughter away from the limelight as much as she can. An example of this is their "date" at the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala in New York. The two were spotted leaving the event — which was held in the Metropolitan Opera House — on May 21, 2018. According to Popsugar , Suri, 12, remained close to her mother the whole night. The only time she wasn't hand-in-hand with her mother was on the red carpet. While many assumptions could be made for why this may have been the case, it's safe to assume that Suri didn't take pictures with her mother because of the potential for unwanted attention.

Suri Cruise isn't spoon-fed

Throughout Suri Cruise's earlier years, we could see that her parents would get carried away and adhere to the wishes made by their princess. During Katie Holmes' appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in 2014 (via YouTube ), the actress revealed just how demanding her daughter could be. With Christmas only being a month away, Holmes stated that this was an anxious time for her because she "can't screw up talking to Santa." Although she revealed that her daughter was somewhat practical, Suri's attention to detail left us hoping that she wouldn't grow into a royal prima donna.

Luckily, Holmes understood how over-gifting can warp a child's perception of life. With the endless amount of privileges Suri has, she made sure not to "inundate her daughter with a lot of things" (via Today ). Despite being decked out in designer clothes as a child, Holmes made it clear that although Suri is privileged enough to be wealthy, that doesn't exclude her from working like everyone else. At 12 years old, Suri seemed to pick up on this as she ran her own lemonade stand at New York City's LGBT Pride parade in 2018. According to an eyewitness, Suri and her friends charged $2 per glass and offered rainbow-themed Rice Krispies treats for those in attendance (via Us Weekly ). "She was very sweet and kind, telling everyone to enjoy their day and would smile whenever someone walked past," the eyewitness stated, "Very sweet."

The 17-year-old was seen in New York's Soho while walking with some friends.

Suri is the daughter of actors Tom Cruise , 60, and Katie Holmes , 44.

She was wearing a black tank top and a knee-length denim skirt which gave early 2000s vibes.

She paired it with several silver bracelets and a black string choker necklace that had a large silver flower on it.

On her feet were black sneakers and tall white socks that were scrunched down at her ankles.

Suri has reportedly not seen  Top Gun  star Tom in more than a decade after her mom divorced him when she was five.

Katie gained sole custody of Suri in 2012, along with a generous settlement that has Tom paying a reported £325,000 a year for his daughter’s care.

After the split, Katie took Suri to New York which was 2,400 miles away from LA -based Tom.

The actor has been accused of putting his religion before his daughter, with ex-Scientologists claiming he has been ordered to shun Katie and Suri as non-believers.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes ' daughter, Suri Cruise , has lived a sheltered life away from her father's Scientology beliefs and public scrutiny. However, as she turns 18, she faces the decision to either embrace fame or remain private.

According to a Scientology journalist, Suri becoming an adult in New York will also allow her the freedom to speak about her father and the church of Scientology.

Katie Holmes Has 'Safeguarded' Suri Cruise From Public Scrutiny And Scientology

Suri has enjoyed a predominantly sheltered upbringing in Manhattan, shielded from the limelight by her devoted and fiercely protective mother, Holmes.

The teenager has been mostly kept away from her father, Cruise, and his religious organization, the Church of Scientology. According to a source who spoke to Page Six , the "Mission: Impossible" star hasn't seen his daughter since 2012.

"Katie has safeguarded Suri and she's a devoted mom," the source said. "This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn't lived her life in public."

With Suri's eighteenth birthday around the corner, questions arise on whether she plans to return to the spotlight or maintain her private life.

At the time of Holmes and Cruise's divorce, the actress was rumored to have signed various non-disclosure agreements, potentially restricting her from discussing her marriage to Cruise and her experiences within the Church of Scientology.

However, Suri, who will attain legal adulthood in New York State as she turns 18, has the freedom to speak openly about her father and his beliefs as she was too young to sign any NDAs during her parent's divorce.

Suri Cruise Is 'Free To Talk' About Scientology If She Wants

Speaking to the news outlet, Tony Ortega , a seasoned Scientology journalist, shared: "Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it's going to be really interesting if she has something to say."

As Cruise is one of Scientology's prominent members, possibly second only to its leader, David Miscavige, Ortega raised questions about potential repercussions that Holmes and Suri could face.

"Regular members who quit are declared 'suppressive persons (SP),' and those who stay in Scientology are told to completely cut them off," he noted. "We don't know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP."

Ortega added, "If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he's the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff. Your average member would be kicked out, but David Miscavige can't do that with Tom."

Former Scientologists Mike Rinder and Jeff Augustine echo Ortega's concerns about Scientology's influence on familial relationships and speculate on the treatment of Holmes and Suri within the church.

Augustine told the outlet, "The situation with Suri is a larger story about Scientology and the subject of how they make people no longer useful to them or threats to them non-persons. It's like they cease to exist and that's what happened to Suri."

Rinder particularly emphasized Suri's autonomy, asserting: "Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be…she deserves love and sympathy."

Tom Cruise Admits Katie Holmes Filed For Divorce To 'Protect Suri From Scientology'

According to Page Six , during a deposition in a legal battle against tabloid magazines in November 2013, Cruise disclosed that Holmes had filed for divorce "to protect Suri from Scientology."

However, despite their estrangement, Cruise, with an estimated fortune of $600 million, committed to providing financial support to Holmes and Suri as per their divorce settlement.

He reportedly agreed to an annual payment of $400,000 until Suri reaches 18, alongside covering various expenses, including "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs."

Holmes also secured sole custody of their daughter, while Cruise retained "meaningful" visitation rights. Yet, public sightings of Cruise with his daughter have dwindled over the years, with sources suggesting Cruise has a diminishing role in Suri's life despite legal arrangements.

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes' Marriage Was Strained Because Of Scientology

Cruise first famously professed his love for Holmes in May 2005, leaping on Oprah Winfrey's couch and yelling, "I'm in love!"

The former lovebirds reportedly tied the knot in a lavish Scientologist ceremony in Italy in 2006.

However, as time passed, insiders revealed that the "Batman Begins" actress was feeling increasingly stifled by Cruise's ties to the church of Scientology, which caused a strain in their relationship.

Six years after they tied the knot, Holmes initiated divorce proceedings, aided by her father, Martin Holmes, a powerful divorce attorney.

Employing covert tactics, including the use of burner phones, Holmes allegedly "blindsided" Cruise with the divorce filing while he filmed "Oblivion" in Iceland in June 2012.

Tom Cruise Says He 'Always Wanted To Be A Father' And 'Be There' For His Children

Growing up as the only daughter of a devoted single parent presents a stark contrast from the beginnings of Suri's life.

Born on  April 18, 2006, the teenager was initially thrust into the limelight as America's most famous baby and was even captured by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

In the same year of Suri's birth, Cruise confessed to Vanity Fair  that he "always wanted to be a father."

He added, "I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I'd never make a promise to my kids that I couldn't keep."

According to Page Six, the relationship between Suri and her father, Tom Cruise, has been strained since Holmes filed for divorce in 2012 , blindsiding Cruise during the filming of "Oblivion." Their last public appearance together was in 2012, and Cruise has not seen Suri since.

Despite their estrangement, Cruise has honored financial commitments outlined in their divorce agreement, ensuring Suri's financial security.

In a 2013 deposition for a legal battle, Cruise disclosed that Katie Holmes filed for divorce to safeguard their daughter Suri from Scientology.

Despite their estrangement, their divorce agreement stipulates that Cruise provides financial support, including $400,000 annually until Suri reaches 18, along with covering her medical, dental, education and other expenses.

The question of Scientology looms large over Suri's future . Holmes , bound by non-disclosure agreements, has remained silent about her time within the controversial organization.

Suri Cruise 'được tự do nói về bố' khi tròn 18 tuổi vào tuần này

Page Six đưa tin Suri sẽ đón tuổi 18 vào ngày 18/4 và theo luật của bang New York, khi thành niên cô có quyền tự do trò chuyện cởi mở về cha mình cũng như giáo phái Scientology.
