CD KEY??? ANYONE???

This game was awesome 2023-10-09 0 point

When I launch the game it says I do not have enough video memory which is hilarious considering I have a 3080 and a Ryzen 9 5900x with 64 gigs of RAM

LostRealist 2023-09-30 -1 point

For me this one runs without much issue with the NoCD patch. Sadly, the game itself was somewhat disappointing for me as I was looking for a simulation. In career mode, the game very heavily scripts your shots. On the Amateur level I've been chipping in inexplicable miracle shots left and right and after some time of playing the game pivots and starts to cut you down with inexplicably sending your shots off to the parking lot. Putts can simply go opposite direction off your club than you aimed them if the game doesn't want you to advance too quickly. It's very frustrating when it does this and it's quite unsatisfying when you hit a shot that has a magnet in it and finds the pin no matter what. It's quite typical EA bullshit for this era, the FIFA games of this time were also MAJOR offenders in the "Nintendo hard" category. That's my two cents. This game is actually quite lackluster for those looking for simulation, especially compared to the new 2023 iteration which is punishingly realistic.

I got lucky, I was able to play TW 2004 with no problem, but I had to borrow Doc Brown's DeLorean to do it...

@Cameron 2022-10-25 1 point

Has anything changed for you? Evidently the previous solutions did not work

Cameron 2022-05-20 1 point

Seems this one just won't run on Windows 10 no matter what you throw at it unfortunately. I've tried every combination of dgvoodoo, compat mode, fullscreen/windowed and 1.0/1.1 patch and there's no way to get video, only a black screen with intro and menu audio.

MG 2022-02-04 4 points

Mount disc 1 first whatever your method then right click mount in your dvd drive and open This brings up game install folder install and during procedure the install will ask you to mount next CD's 2 & 3 then back to 1 Then confirm close Then patch with 1.1 patch and 1.1 No CD which can be found online When I start game intro video doesn't show but plays audio in background. Let that do it's thing and game should go to front menu of game. Please note this will only happen when compatibility set to Windows 98/ME. No compatibility or other the game will hang after intro. But there's a twist. In Windows 98/ME compatibility you may experience sound issues. Therefore I left compatibility blank and when the game hung after intro press ctrl/alt/del to bring up task manager. Then press cancel and game should go to main menu after intro. Then you have better sound. Only issue you have to press ctrl/alt/del every time you start game. Unless someone knows another solution or you want to just go with the 98/ME compatibility and sound issue. Lastly you may see in modern Win 10 the graphics flickering in game. To solve this right click the game exe and properties. There you will see option at bottom 'Disable screen optimisations' tick this box and graphic in game flicker should be gone.

Ok so i got the game to install but when i run i get the EA Sports logo, then i get the sounds of the menu and the mouse but i cant see the main screen. Is there a way to set the game to windowed mode?

I'm trying to use dgVoodoo to get the game running but I'm having no luck getting it configured correctly. Any advice?

@ASTRO_ZOMBIE1984 You need to Mount the 2CD Thats The Media disk

do i need to download all 3 disk? im new to this thing

astro_zombie1984 2021-08-02 0 point

It is asking me to insert media disk. I know nothing about modern computing. What am I missing?

EasyGamer 2021-07-10 1 point

Using dgVoodoo I was able to get the game to run on Windows 10. It fixes that DirectX issue.

Happy Days 2021-04-29 4 points

I am getting the error "DirectX is reporting that there is not enough video memory to run the game". Does anyone have a fix for this? Would greatly appreciate it.

Miller 2021-04-10 -1 point

Any advice on the Media Disk prompt when installing?

Tits McGee 2021-04-07 1 point

If you're having a problem with pre-2010 EA keys, look for a keygen from a guy named FFF. Usually goes by 'EA.Games.Multi.Keygen.(83) or (168) or some other number. I've been using them for the better part of 15 years and they never fail.

Description official descriptions

Tiger Woods is back for another round of golf in this edition of the series. The biggest addition to this version is EA's Game Face, which lets you customize the players' physical appearance. You have the basics, such as hair, skin, facial hair and other general appearances, but Game Face allows you to customize every other aspect, from teeth shape, logos, tattoos, headbands, hats, and more. You may also change individual body mass, muscle tone, mid-section, arms and legs. You also have the option of choosing specific swing style animations, post-putt and celebration animations, and "pissed off" animations for when you score a triple bogey.

One of the new modes is World Tour, which puts you through a standard 52-week PGA tour to earn money, sponorships, and better gear. You can play for up to twenty seasons. The other new game mode is Battle Golf, where you can win an opponent's clubs if you beat them. All the other standard game modes are here, from Skill Challenge and Speed Golf to a Skins Match or Practice.

A new feature is the game's ability to read your console's internal clock, and provide you with game modes. If it's near the end of October and your clock is properly set, you may be invited to a Halloween event where you can win items specific to that event.

All top PGA players are included for you to play as (or against), including Vijay Singh and Justin Leonard. Newcomers to the sport have also been added, such as John Daly.

Most of the courses from 2003 have made it, with seven new courses, both real and fantasy. One of the new courses is Bethpage Black, an extremely difficult course located in Washington.

Like all other 2004 EA Sports console games, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 has the EA Sports Bio, which tracks your accomplishments and games over all EA Sports titles. The more EA Sports games you play, and the longer you play them, will increase your EA Gamer Level and unlock additional rewards, such as a new driver in Tiger Woods or historic teams in NHL 2004 . This feature isn't on the PC version.

Gamers who buy the PlayStation 2 version will be able to play online through EA's matchmaking service. You cannot play online with the Xbox or GameCube versions.

If you buy the GameCube version, you can use the GameBoy Advance to hook up to the GameCube to unlock special rewards not available through normal play.

Same as before with improved graphics.

The Good Overall i like the game and you can find my thoughts about it in my TW PGA Tour 2003 Review . The Bad The guys at EA are just making more money in the franchise (like the NBA and FIFA series) therefore they feel like just improving the graphics is enough to satisfy the customer. Well, i do not feel the same way... In my opinion, improving graphics does not improve the gameplay, and this one is the one adding value to the game. The Bottom Line Care about graphics? Then take it...but if you do not, stick with the 2003 edition if you already own it.

2024 Masters: Tiger Woods' third-round recap after setting cuts-made record

14 Min Read

Change Text Size

Tiger Woods completed 18 holes Saturday at the Masters, but it wasn't the outcome he wanted.

Woods signed for 10-over 82 in the third round at Augusta National Golf Club, falling out of contention for his sixth green jacket at 11 over for the tournament. Woods, 48, entered the third round on the precipice of contention, seven strokes off the lead, after setting the all-time record with his 24th consecutive made cut at Augusta National. His start to Saturday's third round was encouraging, rebounding from a bogey at the par-3 fourth with the day's first birdie at the staunch par-4 fifth, but he fell victim to Nos. 6-9, which he played a combined 6 over, en route to nine-hole scores of 42-40 and a subsequent tumble down the leaderboard.

"I didn't have a very good warmup session, and I kept it going all day today," Woods said afterward. "Just hit the ball in all the places that I know I shouldn't hit it. And I missed a lot of putts. Easy, makable putts. I missed a lot of them.

"I wouldn't say necessarily (a lack of) mental reps. It's just that I haven't competed and played much. When I had chances to get it flipped around and when I made that putt at 5, I promptly three-putted 6 and flub a chip at 7 and just got it going the wrong way, and when I had opportunities to flip it, I didn't."

Woods opened in rounds of 73-72, navigating breezy and increasing firm conditions with a series of crafty par saves, to enter the weekend in a tie for 22nd place, allowing one to dream of a weekend charge up the leaderboard. But his body caught up to him on Saturday afternoon, as could be expected after myriad surgeries in recent years. Nonetheless he cherished the walk around Augusta National, as did the appreciative patrons.

He planned to be back Sunday, he said afterward.

"My team will get me ready," he said. "It will be a long night and a long warmup session, but we'll be ready."

Hole 18 (par 4, 465 yards): Looking for a bright spot on a mostly disappointing afternoon, Woods plays a vintage tight cut up the 18th's narrow chute that leaves a gettable approach angle from 171 yards. He plays a solid iron shot up the hill but the ball doesn't quite reach the green's back level on which the hole is situated, leaving a 42-foot look for a closing birdie. He lags to tap-in range, makes his par and salutes the appreciative patrons.

It's not the best day for Woods, who will sign for 10-over 82, but he completed the walk despite clear physical pain at times. And the history he authored with a 24th straight made cut at Augusta National will endure.

Woods cards 10-over 82, stands 11-over for tournament

Hole 17 (par 4, 440 yards): It's a fourth straight bogey for Woods, as his tee shot misses the fairway in the left trees, forcing a second shot to the fairway cut right of the green. He plays a nifty third shot to 6 feet short of the hole, but his par putt burns the right edge. He taps in for bogey.

After a spirited second-round 72 in grueling conditions to make the cut with ease, perhaps the adrenaline is wearing off for the 48-year-old. He'll head to the home hole looking for a silver lining to the afternoon. Nonetheless there are far worse things in this world than a Saturday stroll around Augusta National.

Woods 10-over through 17, 11-over overall

Hole 16 (par 3, 159 yards): The five-time Masters winner selects 8-iron on the par 3 that has framed so many memorable Woods moments through the years. He safely finds the green's left side, but the ball catches the slope bisecting the putting surface and continues to drift away from the hole, leaving a difficult two-putt proposition from 55 feet. He's unable to do so, as his birdie putt races 15 feet past and he can't convert the comebacker. It's his fourth bogey in five holes.

Woods 9-over through 16, 10-over overall

Hole 15 (par 5, 550 yards): The struggles continue to mount for Woods, who plays a soft fade off the tee that misses the fairway to the right and lays up safely just short of the water's edge, leaving a 47-yard cross-pond pitch, but can't hold his third shot on the green. From 12 yards past the flag, his fourth shot fails to reach the putting surface, holding up in the fringe roughly 15 feet short of the hole. He takes two to get down from there, his third bogey in four holes. Woods is now fighting just to break 80.

Woods 8-over through 15, 9-over overall

Hole 14 (par 4, 440 yards): Woods pushes driver into the right pine straw, continuing to find difficulty in controlling the ball off the tee. It leaves a 125-yard approach to a slick green with abundant tree trouble. As a result, he plays a nifty low punch that barely gets off the ground but scampers up near the green before rolling off the right fringe and into a collection area.

Woods opens the face for his third and plays a high, soft pitch that lands near the hole and releases to 15 feet; from a spot well below the green, it's not a bad result. He two-putts for a bogey that was set up by an off-line tee shot.

Woods 7-over through 14, 8-over overall

Hole 13 (par 5, 545 yards): Woods misses the fairway into the grove of trees right on the iconic dogleg-left par 5, requiring a layup to roughly 60 yards. It's a tricky third shot to a green that seemingly swirls with contours, but the five-time Masters winner plays a sublime third shot that checks up nicely to leave a 10-foot birdie attempt.

It's a sidewinder, slippery right-to-left bender, and Woods buries it with perfect pace. A crafty birdie at Amen Corner's final leg. Despite the day's struggles, Woods is fighting hard to the finish, and he nods with a smile to the appreciative patrons.

Woods 6-over through 13, 7-over overall

Hole 12 (par 3, 146 yards): After a warm embrace from the patrons gathered by the 12th tee box, Woods tugs a short iron just left of the green, a safe shot to the front-left hole location but one that perhaps leaves something to be desired. He plays a bump-and-run second shot that barely gets off the ground and scampers to 6 feet before settling, leaving a knee-knocker for par, as was the case on the front nine's two par 3s.

He makes a tentative stroke on the par putt, and it misses on the hole's right side. He taps in for bogey, his third straight par-3 bogey in the third round.

Woods 7-over through 12; 8-over overall

Hole 11 (par 4, 520 yards): Woods begins Amen Corner with a high fade that hugs the right rough line but bounces into the fairway, still leaving a lengthy second shot where he'll have to respect the dense tree line. He plays a scissor fade from 216 yards that lands just off the green's front-right edge and suffers a brutal kick to well right of the green, leaving a devilish 24-yard third shot.

Woods plays a beautiful pitch to 5 feet and drips in his par. One of golf's enduring truths: never underestimate the short game of Tiger Woods.

Woods 6-over through 11, 7-over overall

Hole 10 (par 4, 495 yards): After speculation on the Masters.com Featured Groups stream regarding whether he would continue at the turn, Woods does just that, and he stripes a fairway metal to the right side of the fairway. He anxiously looks on as the ball bounces through the turf, clearly still very much engaged in the round despite a brutal four-hole stretch to end the first nine. "He's using a lot of upper body there," observed Colt Knost on the Featured Groups stream, regarding Woods' tee shot.

The grit never leaves Woods, and he stripes a mid-iron from 202 yards to hole-high, just right of the flag, leaving a solid 12-foot birdie look on the day's toughest-scoring hole. The slippery downhiller misses on the right side, running out some 3 feet. He takes his time on the comebacker and sinks it for par, ending the skid of over-par holes.

Woods 6-over through 10, 7-over overall

Hole 9 (par 4, 460 yards): The struggle continues for Woods physically; he winces after striking his tee shot on the front nine's final hole, as the ball fades into the tree line right of the fairway. "He's having trouble getting through the ball," remarked Colt Knost on the Masters.com Featured Groups telecast.

Woods is nearly stymied behind a tree, 148 yards from the hole, and tries to play a big slice toward the green, but it doesn't cut enough and catches a left greenside bunker. He splashes to 9 feet and the par putt narrowly misses on the right side; he taps in for bogey and his fourth consecutive hole played over par. He turns in 6-over 42, a disappointing start to his Masters Saturday, after the day began with such promise and a series of positive swings. His body is clearly ailing him.

It's the highest score on any nine of Woods' Masters career, coming in his 99th career round at Augusta National.

Woods 6-over through 9, 7-over overall

Hole 8 (par 5, 570 yards): Woods is starting to show signs of discomfort, walking with a slight limp as he navigates the lengthy eighth. In corresponding fashion, he's struggling to control the golf ball as well.

Woods takes driver off the tee and attempts a soft fade but double-crosses it, the ball sailing into trees well left of the fairway amidst a helicopter-like follow through. "Just a dead pull ... the lower body just didn't get out of the way," Colt Knost remarked on the Masters.com Featured Groups coverage. He plays his second shot back into the fairway and misses his 244-yard third shot to the right of the green, then plays an average pitch shot to 25 feet below the hole. His par putt misses on the left side, running 4 feet past the hole, and his bogey putt misses as well.

It's a second straight double bogey for Woods, whose chances at a sixth green jacket are fast dwindling. It's his first career double bogey at Augusta National's eighth hole.

Woods 5-over through 8, 6-over overall

Hole 7 (par 4, 450 yards): Woods takes fairway metal on the tight par 4 and plays a fade that over-cuts just slightly, bounding through the fairway and into the rough on the right side. He's forced to play short of the green from 166 yards, leaving a short-sided 44-yard third shot; he is visibly frustrated as he walks up the fairway to his third, knowing the difficulty of the shot ahead.

Woods attempts a high flop shot but catches it heavy; the ball lands in the front greenside bunker, on a downslope. He plays his fourth to 18 feet past the hole, and he two-putts for his first double bogey of the 88th Masters.

A big number at an inopportune time, as Woods cards his third over-par score in four holes. He's now 10 strokes off the lead and T33 for the week.

Woods 3-over through 7, 4-over overall

Hole 6 (par 3, 180 yards): Woods selects 7-iron and waits a beat for the wind to die down before an aggressive swing toward the hole location tucked on the green's back-left side; the ball lands some 15 feet right of the hole and releases to the back fringe, leaving a 25-foot birdie try.

Woods respects the pace on his birdie try, perhaps more so than required, as the ball settles 5 feet short of the hole. It's the second straight par 3 where Woods faces a tester to save par. For the second straight par 3, he can't convert, as he pushes the putt right of the hole. He makes bogey to fall over-par on the day once again.

Woods 1-over through 6, 2-over overall

Hole 5 (par 4, 495 yards): Woods plays a high fade off the tee on the brutally difficult par 4, leaving a 196-yard approach but well positioned to attack the green from the fairway's right side. "He didn't like his tee shot, but he hit it 319 yards," Colt Knost quipped.

Woods flushes his mid-iron approach, one of the day's best shots, leaving a makeable birdie try from 19 feet (on a hole yet to yield a birdie Saturday). On a serpentine-like multi-tiered green, Woods places the ball on the proper tier.

It's a left-to-right dripper, and he drains it with perfect pace, the day's first birdie at the staunch fifth. He raises a hand to the patrons and returns to even-par on the round. He's back within seven strokes of the lead, and he's tied for 19th on the leaderboard.

Woods even-par thru 5, 1-over overall

Hole 4 (par 3, 240 yards): Woods selects 4-iron on the staunch par 3 and launches it high into the air, the ball landing soft on the front fringe to leave an 39-foot birdie try, not bad on a hole that has yielded just one birdie (Will Zalatoris) so far today.

He starts the putt on a line right of the hole and hits it through the break, the ball racing a good bit past the hole, leaving his first mid-range par attempt of the day. It's a slider from 6 feet, and he misses on the right side. He taps in for bogey, his third straight bogey on No. 4 this week.

Woods falls into a tie for 24th, now eight strokes off the lead.

Woods 1-over through 4, 2-over overall

Hole 3 (par 4, 350 yards): Woods launches driver, the ball sailing past the fairway bunkers and releasing into an area of patrons just off the fairway's right side, leaving 77 yards to the hole's famed tabletop green, which requires deft touch to get the ball anywhere close.

Woods' second shot lands on the green's front portion and jumps toward the back, releasing past the hole to leave a slippery 18-foot birdie putt down the slope. "There is fast, and then there is this for Tiger Woods," Shane Bacon said on the Masters.com Featured Groups stream.

He starts the ball on a line a few feet left of the hole, and it narrowly turns all the way back, but not quite. He cleans up his third straight par to begin the day.

Woods even-par through 3, 1-over overall

Hole 2 (par 5, 575 yards): Woods makes less-than-100% contact with a 3-wood off the tee, the ball drifting toward the fairway's right side, safely in play but leaving 303 yards to the hole. He exudes a slight sigh, knowing it's perhaps a missed opportunity to attack the green in two. He takes fairway metal for his second shot and flushes it, the ball settling some 46 yards short-right of the flag, leaving an ideal angle for a cross-green pitch to a back-left hole location. "You either get this place or you don't," said Shane Bacon on the Masters.com Featured Groups stream. Woods, a five-time Masters winner, gets it.

Woods makes clean contact with his pitch, but the ball checks up sooner than he would like, leaving 16 feet for birdie. He strikes it well but it narrowly misses on the right side; Woods looks down in slight dismay, knowing the opportunity lost. He cleans up his second straight par to begin the day.

Woods even-par through 2, 1-over overall

Hole 1 (par 4, 445 yards): For the third straight day, Woods splits the fairway off the tee at the opening hole; he stripes it 305 yards to the flattest part of the fairway, leaving a short-iron approach from 147 yards. The patrons roar and Woods strides purposefully off the tee box.

Woods can't quite take advantage of his premier position off the tee, though. His approach lands and settles in the center of the green, leaving a 48-foot birdie putt from a lower tier, to a hole location situated on the green's back-right tier.

Woods has no trouble with the speed, though, lagging to 2 feet and saving his par with ease. "Professional golfers don't get enough credit for their lag putting," said Colt Knost on the Masters.com Featured Groups stream. No player has done it better than Woods, Knost adds.

Woods even-par through 1, 1-over overall

Ex-PGA Tour star suggests Tiger Woods' alleged PED use was known in the sport

S alacious rumors about Tiger Woods possibly using performance-enhancing drugs in the midst of his stellar golf career have been around for years.

Former PGA Tour star Mark Lye mentioned the rumors again on Monday in an interview with OutKick’s "Don’t @ Me with Dan Dakich." Dakich asked whether "it was felt by many around golf – people that really know – that Tiger Woods has used ‘roids in the past or may have used ‘roids in the past?"

"Yes, that is. It is except for the people in Tiger’s corner. ‘You better shut up about it.’ Nobody ever gone out like that," Lye said. "Nobody’s ever said that like I’m saying it right now. There’s just no doubt. And I would say about 80 or 90% of the people out there know something ain’t right."

Lye, who won on the PGA Tour in 1983 and finished tied for sixth at the 1984 Masters, didn’t get into specifics, but rumors about Woods and steroids have popped up in the past.

Woods’ treatment from controversial Canadian doctor Anthony Galea was detailed in the 2014 book "Blood Sport: Alex Rodriguez, Biogenesis and the Quest to End Baseball’s Steroid Era." Woods’ former swing coach, Hank Haney, told Golf Digest at the time he never saw Woods do "anything like that" and was unsure "how it would help him."

MASTERS CHAMP SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER REVEALS WHERE GOLF STANDS ON PRIORITY LIST WITH BABY DUE SOON

Former PGA Tour player Dan Olsen said in July 2015, without evidence, that Woods was secretly suspended from the organization for failing a drug test.

Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, and the PGA Tour both denied the claim. Steinberg said at the time that the claims were "absolutely, unequivocally and completely false." Olsen later retracted his claim.

Steinberg didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on Lye’s remarks.

Woods played all four rounds of the Masters at Augusta this past weekend. He finished 16-over par in one of the worst performances of his career.

The Most Famous Golfer at the Masters Is Black. Why Aren’t There More Players Like Him?

Tiger Woods, alone and seen from a distance, stands on a fairway with a mass of trees behind him.

By Peter May

Mr. May is a former sportswriter for The Times and The Boston Globe and the author of “Changing the Course: How Charlie Sifford and Stanley Mosk Integrated the PGA.”

When the Masters Tournament commenced on Thursday, featuring 89 competitors, there was exactly one Black golfer in the field: the one we all know, Tiger Woods. Beyond that, the field for the 88th Masters didn’t look all that different from the previous 87.

This is not what Charles Sifford envisioned when he and Stanley Mosk, the attorney general of California, fought to integrate the Professional Golfers’ Association of America. Sifford, who is often referred to as the Jackie Robinson of golf, became the first Black P.G.A. member in 1964 after a decades-long fight to join the organization that had, for much of its history, stated in its charter that it would admit only golfers “of the Caucasian race.”

Sifford blazed a trail for talented Black golfers such as Lee Elder, Calvin Peete, Jim Dent, Jim Thorpe and, of course, Woods. But 60 years later, their stories of success are still exceptions. The P.G.A. remains woefully inaccessible to Black golfers and has made only marginal and inadequate efforts to diversify its ranks. According to Golf Digest, fewer than 1 percent of the P.G.A.’s 29,000 members are Black. The P.G.A.’s tournaments and its professional golf shops need to take concrete steps to look more like the America they purport to represent.

In 2014 the P.G.A. identified diversity and inclusion as “foundational principles” but, in practical terms, that has meant little more than the occasional golf camp or clinic at a public course in a Black neighborhood. The P.G.A. recently partnered with the Advocates Professional Golf Association, which was founded in 2010 to diversify the game, and together they will host 18 tournaments this year. But the P.G.A. must do more to lead the way in action and by example, promoting inclusion at every level. Until private country clubs, elite prep schools and Division I golf programs actively recruit and train Black golfers, Sifford’s legacy will remain unfulfilled, and the game will continue to be dominated by white players.

For the decades that Sifford and other Black golfers fought to become P.G.A. members, they dealt with bigotry, death threats and countless humiliations while simply trying to play golf with and against the best players of the era. Because the P.G.A. had explicitly codified racial discrimination in its bylaws, Black golfers not only couldn’t compete as PGA Tour members; they also couldn’t find jobs in P.G.A.-affiliated pro shops — which, until the 1950s, had been the traditional route golfers took to join the P.G.A. The P.G.A. continually thwarted the efforts of Black golfers, abetted by star players who failed to speak up for inclusion.

The battle to integrate professional golf stalled until Mosk, enraged by Sifford’s exclusion from the P.G.A., threatened to sue the association to prevent it from holding its segregated tournaments in California. Several other state attorneys joined Mosk in the fight, and their resolve forced the P.G.A. to eliminate the Caucasians-only clause. The removal of what Mosk called “this obnoxious restriction” paved the way for Sifford to become a full-time member.

But Sifford’s breakthrough did not open the gates to Black players. Fifteen years after Robinson broke baseball’s color line, Black players represented over 10 percent of Major League Baseball rosters. Yet decades after Sifford’s breakthrough there were still only a few of Black golfers on the pro tour. The Masters waited an unforgivable 41 years from its inception before inviting a Black player to participate, when Elder broke the color barrier in 1975. Even after Sifford won two PGA Tour events, the Masters refused to invite him to its tournament. Sifford never set foot on the grounds of Augusta National Golf Club.

Little has changed. The 2022 Masters featured just three Black players , which was a record high for the tournament. There were no Black golfers last year in the United States Open, and this year’s Masters features only Woods — who has publicly credited Sifford with making his career possible, calling him “the grandpa I never had,” and named his son Charlie in Sifford’s honor. But Woods, who is 48 and oft injured, can no longer play a full schedule, which means there are only two Black golfers today who play professionally with any regularity. One is Cameron Champ, a three-time PGA Tour winner. The other, Harold Varner III, is no longer a member of the P.G.A., having joined the Saudi-backed LIV tour.

There are currently efforts to promote diversity in golf, such as the Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption at the Genesis Invitational, which sets aside a spot in the tournament for a golfer of color every year. Why not introduce such an exemption at every P.G.A. tournament? The P.G.A. should also be funding more programs to develop young Black golfers, as well as interest in golf among Black athletes. This year, the basketball star Stephen Curry — who funded the revival of the golf program at the historically Black Howard University — will be honored at the World Golf Hall of Fame induction ceremony with the Charlie Sifford Award for advancing diversity in golf. The P.G.A. should follow Curry’s lead.

Sifford lived long enough to see significant change in the world. He saw Woods become the dominant player in golf. He saw other sports integrated in ways that once seemed unthinkable, including baseball in 1947 and, later, tennis with the rise of Arthur Ashe and Althea Gibson and the emergence of Venus and Serena Williams. In 2004, Sifford became the first Black person inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame and, in 2014, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama.

But when Sifford died in 2015 at age 92, he had yet to see a truly integrated P.G.A. Were he alive today, he’d still be waiting.

Masters 2024: Tiger Woods finishes 100th round at Augusta National with worst score to par in major career

Tiger set all kinds of records this week; his 16 over marked his second-worst score to par as a professional.

tiger-woods-2024-masters-final-round-g.jpg

Tiger Woods checked off another milestone at the Masters. Playing his 100th round in competition at Augusta National Golf Club, the five-time champion carded a 5-over 77 to finish his tournament at 16 over. At the time Woods walked off the 18th green, he was last among those who made the cut, and his 16 over marked both the worst score to par in his major career and second-worst score to par as a professional.

Woods' 26th Masters featured both high and low points. The 48-year-old secured the longest made cut streak in Masters history on Friday when he locked up his 24th consecutive weekend appearance after shooting opening rounds of 73-72. He entered the weekend inside the top 25 with an outside shot at contention but went in the wrong direction on Moving Day.

The 15-time major champion signed for the highest score in his major championship career in Round 3 with a 10-over 82, matching his major high in relation to par.

"It was a good week," Woods said. "It was a good week all around. I think that coming in here, not having played a full tournament in a very long time, it was a good fight on Thursday and Friday. Unfortunately, yesterday, it didn't quite turn out the way I wanted it to. Today, the round that I -- the way that Tom [Kim] is playing, I thought I had in my system. Unfortunately, I didn't produce it."

Tiger looked much more comfortable around Augusta National early Sunday. With his son, Charlie, aiding him on the practice area ahead of his tee time, Woods once again got off to a nice start. He made birdie on the par-5 2nd for the first time all week after finding the surface in two. And then the mistakes began to pile up.

A bogey on No. 3 was the result of a poor approach into a devilish hole location. After a par on No. 4, Woods lost his tee shot right on the long par-4 5th. He went back to the tee box shooting three, and once he finally reached the green, he needed three putts to find the bottom of the cup and post a triple-bogey 7 on his scorecard. The score represents Woods' fifth triple bogey or worse in his Masters career with the last coming in 2020 when he made a 10 on the par-3 12th during the final round.

Woods got in a groove over the next couple hours rattling off eight straight pars. He gave himself numerous birdie chances during this stretch, including a good look on No. 10, but Tiger failed to capitalize and often left putts short. The par streak came to an end courtesy of a bogey on the par-5 15th and put Tiger at 5 over on his day. Three pars later, including a nifty up-and-in from the greenside bunker on 16, put the finishing touches on Woods' 77.

When Woods walked off the green on 16, he made sure to pay respect to another legend, CBS broadcaster Verne Lundquist. A staple in the 16th tower over the last 40 Masters, Lundquist is calling his final event at Augusta National on Sunday.

With Tiger's trip around the 2024 Masters in the books, some were left wondering when he would next traverse a golf course in competition. Woods previously stated he would play all four majors, which puts him in line to play the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla next month. He skipped last year's PGA Championship at Oak Hill due to injury and was forced to withdraw from the championship the year prior after a third-round 79.

"This is a golf course I knew going into it, so I'm going to do my homework going forward at Pinehurst, Valhalla and [Royal] Troon, but that's kind of the game plan," Woods said. "It's always nice coming back here because I know the golf course, I know how to play it. I can kind of simulate shots. Granted, it's never quite the same as getting out here and doing it. Same thing, I heard there's some changes at the next couple sites. So, got to get up there early and check them out."
