Carnival Conquest

About Carnival Conquest

Get ready for endless fun on Carnival Cruise Line's 110,000-ton, 2,984-guest Carnival Conquest. Bring everyone in the family along because there are plenty of activities and amenities designed to keep everyone smiling from ear to ear — including the kids! The huge Conquest-class ship underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2012 that included the enhancement of various bars, dining and entertainment venues. Stunning interiors reflect the works of some of the great Impressionist and post-Impressionist painters, whose names are used at various public rooms.

Wherever you look, something exciting is happening aboard the Carnival Conquest — a delicious meal is being prepared, music is playing and cocktails are being mixed. Unwind with a tropical drink at the popular RedFrog Rum Bar, watch your favorite team at the SKYBOX Sports Bar, savor the famous fries at Guy Fieri's Burger Joint, indulge in a soothing massage at Spa Carnival and burn off calories at the state-of-the-art Fitness Center.

Lounge at the pools and watch movies and more at the jumbo poolside LED screen. Shrieks of delight will greet you at the 214-foot-long water slide called the Twister. Kids even have their own wading pool. Touch base with friends at the Internet Café and enjoy Wi-Fi in almost all public rooms and areas. Carnival Conquest also features whirlpools for total relaxation, the Painters' Library and boutiques.

Kids will never want to leave all the fun at Camp Ocean (ages 2 to 11) with specially created kid activities and they will always remember the "Seuss at Sea" fantasy-like experience. Imagine their delight when they sit down to a whimsical Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends. While parents are enjoying their cruise vacation, so can teens (ages 15 to 17), at their own Club 02, where they can watch movies, listen to music, play video games and join karaoke sessions.

Your taste buds will be delighted by the variety of delicious food. Diverse restaurants serve everything from handmade tacos and burritos that will melt in your mouth at BlueIguana Cantina Mexican station to a Reuben Sandwich at the New York-style deli. International cuisine is featured at the beautiful twin two-level main dining rooms named Monet and Renoir. Daily selections change nightly and a Kids Menu with all their favorites, including pizza, burgers, spaghetti and meatballs is available. Taste food from all over the world at the fabulous and popular poolside Cezanne buffet restaurant. Foodies flock to The Chef's Table for a private multi-course gourmet dinner and everyone loves celebrity chef Guy Fieri's Burger Joint created by the Food Network star, boasting his famous burgers and fries. A pizzeria with fresh hot pies is open 24/7 as well as room service.

Carnival Conquest boasts 573 total balcony staterooms, perfect for enjoying romantic Caribbean sunsets and magnificent sunrises. Feel right at home as you enjoy delightful amenities, such as first-run in-cabin movies. Special Carnival Comfort Beds with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and covers will lull you to sleep. Expansive 230-square-foot verandah staterooms are ideal for families.

Exciting entertainment includes nightly shows at Punchliner Comedy Club Presented by George Lopez where you can join in the laughs. Hasbro (The Game Show), Playlist Productions and movies at the immense Seaside Theater, a 270-square-foot LED screen on the Lido Deck, showing movies, concerts and sports events, are other exciting options. The three-level 1,400-seat Toulouse-Lautrec Lounge is the beautiful main theater showing spectacular productions. Play the slots and other games at the popular Vegas-like Tahiti Casino, head to Henri's, the popular dance club and enjoy the music and fun at Vincent's Jazz Bar.

See for yourself why Carnival Conquest is such a favorite cruise ship with so many passengers returning time and again.

Carnival Conquest sails to the Caribbean and the Bahamas.

Alchemy bar

Alchemy bar

No magic spells are required to enjoy a cocktail creation at Alchemy Bar®, our unique vintage-themed cocktail "pharmacy" — all you need is a willingness to be surprised, to try something new. We’ve flipped through dusty old texts to uncover enticing combinations: select spirits, fresh juices, infused syrups, spices… and other tantalizing secrets performed before your very eyes by the true mix-masters: our bartenders. Choose a remedy from the menu, or let us prescribe you a custom elixir just for you, with or without alcohol.

Blue iguana tequila bar

Blue iguana tequila bar

BlueIguana Tequila Bar is the onboard spot to chill and enjoy a slushy tequila drink or an ice-cold Mexican cerveza. The menu offers up Mexican favorites, including several brands of tequila and a slew of Mexican brews. There’s a lineup of frozen concoctions, cocktails and margaritas served by the glass or by the pitcher, and even a special Mexican beer cocktail (yes, really).

Red frog rum bar

Red frog rum bar

Guests have told us we hit on something special with the cool Caribbean chill of the RedFrog Pub. We've taken the best parts and brought them poolside with the RedFrog Rum Bar, where the frog keeps the fun hopping day and night with all the island flava you know and love. Join the party at this poolside bar featuring a great selection of frog-approved Caribbean rum-based concoctions available by the glass or pitcher, plus plenty of Carnival’s signature private-label draft beer, ThirstyFrog Red.

Fitness center

Fitness center

We have some bad news for you — your ship has a gym. In other words, there’s no excuse for leaving your fitness routine back on land. That’s great news, however, for your body, which will definitely benefit from all the extra energy that vacationing pumps directly into you. And let’s not forget the extra time you’ll have, since you won’t be waking up and spending most of the day at the office or anything like that. If those were some of your go-to excuses, we’re sorry, but we all know this is important. Why not treat yourself to some of our fitness classes — you might even have a little fun while you do something great for yourself!

Sauna

Massage room

Cruising always feels good, but it doesn’t usually — ooh, right there. Right where? Sorry, we’re at the onboard spa, where they do these amazing massages by hand. But they don’t just stop there — they’ve got tools to enhance the benefits too. Select from different hands-on experiences featuring seaweed for detox, herbal poultice for energy, bamboo for deep tissue penetration and hot stones for — ahhh — for perfection. We know you’re all about feeling good, and so are these massages.

Salon

A trip to the salon is an opportunity to relax, to chat with others, to focus on yourself. It’s about more than just getting your hair or nails done… but it’s definitely about getting your hair or nails done! Even though you’re on vacation, you won’t have to settle for anything less than the salon style you’re used to back on land. And these good looks go beyond the usual — we even offer services like teeth whitening… great for taking those ‘I’m on vacation and I’m looking great!’ smiles to the next level.

Mini Golf

Ah, imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... plus one cactus, a treasure chest... and wait, is that a windmill in the way? Just who designed this course anyway? Whoever it was, they had one thing in mind — maximum fun for mini-golfers, big and small! That's precisely why you'll find a course on every Carnival ship, where you can hit the holes and take in everything you’d expect, like the sights and the sounds... plus the seagulls.Ah, imagine a perfect day out on the links, the golfer's zen of the ball, the hole and nothing in between but well-manicured fairway... plus one cactus, a treasure chest... and wait, is that a windmill in the way? Carnival Conquest Virtual Tour

Two weeks ago I had the opportunity to board the Carnival Conquest in Port Everglades (Ft Lauderdale).

While I was touring the vessel I took the opportunity to photograph the ship for CruiseInd. This review will cover the public areas. Due to a delay in boarding at Port Everglades, I was unable to photograph any cabins. All Carnival ship’s have a theme and some are more subtle than others. The Conquest’s theme is art, specifically French. In fact, there’s quite a lot of French influence all throughout and I’ll be pointing them out throughout our tour.

The ship was originally home ported in New Orleans so the French theme fits. The Conquest is the first ship built as part of the Conquest class of ship’s which is an evolution of the Destiny-class of vessel.

The bottom-most deck normally accessed by the public contains only cabins. There’s both inside and outside cabins with windows and portholes on this deck.

Deck 02 also contains only cabins.

Deck 03 is where the public areas start. It’s also where you enter the ship when first boarding. There’s a promenade on either side of the deck, but it’s not connected in the bow or stern. It’s usually pretty quiet out here during sea days.  At the very front of the deck is the ship’s main theater, the Taulouse-Loutrec main lounge.

tour carnival conquest

Just past the entrance to the lounge are the guest services areas. On the port side is the shore excursion desk and on the starboard is the pursers desk.  Immediately aft of those is the bottom floor of the Artists lobby. Direct above that is the Studio atrium.

tour carnival conquest

This is also where you enter the ship when you first board. Hence the huge gathering of guests.

Walking through the lobby there’s a small corridor with the art gallery on the starboard side.

tour carnival conquest

At the end of the hallway is one of the two main dining rooms, Renoir.

tour carnival conquest

At the very aft end of deck 03 is the second dining room. Deck 03 is one of those split decks that Carnival ship’s have. That means you can’t walk all the way from the front to back, as the galley sits in between the two dining rooms. If you click on the deck plan you’ll understand what I mean. Before entering the aft dining room, the Conquest-class of ship’s have this neat mini-atrium. On the Conquest it’s called the Sunflower.

tour carnival conquest

At the end of the atrium is the second dining room called Monet.

Can you spot the Eiffel Towers?

tour carnival conquest

Deck 04 is slightly narrower as this is where the lifeboats are. On this class of ship, they are recessed inboard and adjacent to it is the boarding area. During normal ops, this area is only used during the muster drill. At the very front of Deck 04 is the start of the second level of the main theater.

tour carnival conquest

Exiting the theater, you walk down stairs, and past the forward elevators, you enter the second deck of the main atrium.

tour carnival conquest

At the far end of the atrium is the ship’s library.

tour carnival conquest

Adjacent to the library is the photo gallery.

tour carnival conquest

Adjacent to the library is the Circle C club for 12-14 year olds.

tour carnival conquest

Hidden between the library and the photo gallery is the second entrance to the top level of the Renoir dining room.

tour carnival conquest

On the far side of the dining room you can enter a stairwell. Through that is a narrow corridor that takes you to the conference room.

tour carnival conquest

Through that is Alfred’s bar and lounge. There’s also a humidor there for cigars as well.

tour carnival conquest

Through Alfred’s is the second level of the Sunflower atrium.

tour carnival conquest

Walking through Sunflower you reach the second level of the Monet dining room. The windows on the far side overlook the ship’s wake.

tour carnival conquest

At the very front of deck 05 is the top level of the main theater. You mainly access the top level though the stairs on Deck 04. At the very front I found the ship’s plaques. These commemorate every time she calls upon a port for the very first time.

tour carnival conquest

Just past this is the start of the Fun Shops. These are the duty free boutiques onboard.

tour carnival conquest

Aft of the shops is the top floor of the main atrium. Although it continues to the very top of the vessel, this is the highest floor where you can walk around it.

tour carnival conquest

Surrounding the atrium on the port side is the EA Sports Bar.

tour carnival conquest

On the starboard side, towards the back of the atrium, is the Cherry on Top candy store.

tour carnival conquest

As you exit the atrium towards the starboard side, you immediately enter the Impressionist Boulevard. This is the ship’s main promenade. At the main entrance to it, the casino sort of spills out into it.

tour carnival conquest

Heading aft on the promenade you pass a small desk that had the sign up area for Carnival’s credit card and future cruises. Adjacent to that is the onboard internet cafe.

tour carnival conquest

Right next to that is Cafe Fans. The specialty coffee bar onboard.

tour carnival conquest

Right next to that is the entrance to Club O2. The ship’s club room for teens.

tour carnival conquest

Walking through that and to the left, is the ship’s arcade.

tour carnival conquest

Exiting the arcade, you’re back on the Impressionist Boulevard. Located towards the end is the red-carpet entrance to the ship’s nightclub Henri’s.

tour carnival conquest

We’re now reaching the end of the promenade. This is where the Alchemy bar is located. This is quickly becoming a staple onboard all Carnival ships.

tour carnival conquest

Exiting the promenade you enter the top level of the Sunflower.  On the port side is Blues piano bar.

tour carnival conquest

The Conquest’s Blues bar is located on the starboard side off the Sunflower.

tour carnival conquest

At the very end of the sunflower and continuing all the way to the end of the deck is the Degas aft lounge. This serves as the alternate lounge onboard the ship.

tour carnival conquest

Deck 6 contains cabins. It’s the first level where the outside cabins have balconies.

Deck 7 also contains cabins. The midship ones are all suites. Deck 06 and 07 also feature a fairly quiet open deck at the front. You have a fantastic view over the bow looking straight ahead.

Deck 8 is also all cabins. At the front is the bridge and officer cabins.

Best Carnival cruise ships: Here’s which ship you should sail, based on your travel style

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Choosing a Carnival cruise ship is no simple task, especially if you’re new to cruising. As one of the largest cruise brands in the world, Carnival Cruise Line has more than two dozen vessels in its fleet, offering everything from megaship adventures to smaller-ship experiences. Many variables — price, embarkation dates, travel companions, ship size and amenities, and destination — can shape the way you make your choice.

So, what is the best Carnival cruise ship? Here are my picks for the top options in several categories.

For more cruise guides, news and tips, sign up for TPG’s cruise newsletter .

Mardi Gras: Best Carnival cruise ship for families

The best Carnival cruise ship for kids is undoubtedly Mardi Gras . Not only is it one of Carnival’s newest vessels, but it’s also one of the largest, and it has tons of activities to keep families with children busy.

At the expansive kids club, daily programming includes scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, and video games. The club draws in young cruisers and gives them space to make friends and play with peers. Beyond the dedicated kids facilities, the ship has a massive arcade and many top-deck diversions. One of these is the Ultimate Playground — a space encompassing a ropes course, waterslides and Bolt, the first-ever roller coaster at sea . (Note that the arcade and Bolt cost extra.)

Related: The 5 best cruise lines for families

Mardi Gras is full of fantastic family-friendly dining, including the line’s Dr. Seuss-themed Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast (for a small fee). The ship also includes pizza, soft-serve ice cream, Shaq’s fried chicken and Guy Fieri burgers in its fares. Even the pickiest of eaters will be satisfied. Kids can order off special menus in the complimentary main dining rooms and join in their waiters’ rollicking dance performances just when they start to get antsy sitting still.

The ship also does a nice job of accommodating families of all sizes and budgets. Many of Mardi Gras’ standard cabins sleep at least four people, and the ship offers connecting cabins.

Its Family Harbor staterooms provide access to a special family lounge area with TVs, sitting areas and internet stations. Breakfast is offered there each morning, and snacks and drinks — including free soda — are provided throughout the day. So, you never have to go far when the kids need a snack. Cabins in the Family Harbor category feature a nautical theme, plenty of storage and space to sleep at least four people.

Mardi Gras’ new sister ship, Carnival Celebration, is also a fantastic option in this category, offering a nearly identical experience (with just a few changes in the names and themes of specific venues).

Carnival Horizon: Best ship for luxury lovers

Let’s be clear: Carnival is not a luxury cruise line, nor does it offer huge suites on most ships. The suites it has are smaller than most other brands’ high-end accommodations, and they do not include amenities like butler service.

With that in mind, one ship that offers slightly more exclusive options is Carnival Horizon — the second vessel in Carnival’s three-ship Vista class. It offers a top-deck, adults-only Serenity sun deck area; an extensive menu of spa treatments, salon services and fitness classes at the onboard Cloud 9 Spa; and a handful of upmarket cabin offerings.

If you’re into wellness, relaxation and self-care, check out the spa and fitness center’s manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, teeth whitening treatments, acupuncture, anti-wrinkle procedures, state-of-the-art cycling classes, thermal suite, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms for a fee. For digs that include pampering, try a Cloud 9 Spa cabin to receive extras like complimentary thermal suite access and two free yoga or Pilates classes.

Related: The 8 best cruise lines for elegance and exclusivity

If exclusive stateroom enclaves are what you seek, you’ll want to book one of the ship’s Havana Cabana cabins. They come in several varieties, from 185-square-foot insides to Havana Suites, which offer 260 square feet of interior space (with a dividing wall to separate sleeping and living areas), plus a 100-square-foot patio area with loungers and a hammock. All Havana Cabana cruisers get access to an exclusive lanai and pool deck. With a suite booking, you’ll also receive priority embarkation and disembarkation.

If a traditional suite is more your style, consider a Grand Suite, which includes priority embarkation, disembarkation and dining times, as well as access to the Havana pool area. Note, however, that Grand Suites run only 345 square feet with 85-square-foot balconies — disappointing when you consider some of Royal Caribbean’s largest rooms are nearly five times that size.

The only ships on which you’ll find larger accommodations are the line’s newest: Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee, all of which house Presidential Suites. Those accommodations offer 1,120 square feet of space with 600-square-foot balconies and separate living and sleeping areas. However, the ships — part of the line’s Excel Class — are so large and attract so many families that I’ve ruled them out as the most luxurious.

Carnival Conquest: Best ship for budget travelers

If you’re on a budget and simply looking for one of the cheapest Carnival cruise ships, a solid bet is Carnival Conquest. It offers Bahamas and Caribbean voyages of three to five nights. Think of it this way: The shorter the cruise , the less expensive it will be.

Plus, it sails from Miami, one of the world’s largest cruise hubs. More ships leaving from a specific port means more competition, which can drive prices lower.

Related: The 8 classes of Carnival ships, explained

Carnival Conquest is one of the line’s oldest ships, but it’s also a ton of fun. Because short sailings tend to attract a more lively crowd, passengers can expect lots of dancing, socializing and late nights at Henri’s Dance Club. During the day, passengers enjoy spending time around the pool and grabbing free burgers from Guy’s Burger Joint.

It’s also one of the few vessels left in the fleet that still features jaw-dropping interiors designed by renowned architect Joe Farcus, who made Carnival synonymous with quirky patterns, bright colors and neon lights.

At the time of publication, prices started from $47 per person, per night, for an inside cabin.

Carnival Sunrise: Best Carnival cruise ship for singles

Unfortunately, Carnival has been slow to adopt solo cabins, meaning that no ships in its fleet offer accommodations for one.

Because all staterooms are designed for double occupancy, it’s generally a rule that a person traveling alone must pay both fares. This means they would pay twice as much per person as two people sharing a room.

Related: The best cruise ships for solo travelers

In order to make the single supplement as affordable as possible, solo Carnival cruisers will want to balance finding an inexpensive vessel with choosing one that sails short itineraries. They’ll also probably want one that’s a bit livelier (read: not the oldest in the fleet).

A great contender for the title of best Carnival ship for singles is Carnival Sunrise. Formerly Carnival Triumph, the ship was completely gutted, overhauled and renamed in 2019. Although it originally debuted in 1999, it feels fresh and nearly new. It offers the line’s signature Serenity adults-only sun deck, RedFrog Pub, Alchemy Bar and a slew of lounges, nightclubs and daily activities.

Combine that with short, affordable voyages from Miami, and you can sail to the Bahamas or Caribbean for four or five nights from as little as $104 per night if you’re solo. Short sailings also tend to draw a more fun-loving, social crowd. So, if your goal is to mingle and potentially meet other solo cruisers, you stand a good chance on Carnival Sunrise.

Carnival Pride: Best ship for retirees

Retired travelers have all the time in the world to take longer cruises, which generally allow them to visit more far-flung locales. Those trips can come with a substantial price tag, which is why, as a budget option, Carnival is such a great choice.

In particular, Carnival Pride’s voyages consist of nine- and 12-night itineraries to the Baltic, British Isles and Iceland on a regular cadence. Longer voyages mean more time to explore but also fewer children and less of a frat party vibe. (Take note if you’re thinking of bringing your grandkids.)

Related: The 7 best cruises for seniors who love to travel

Carnival Pride is one of the oldest ships sailing for Carnival. That actually works in its favor if you’re a retiree who enjoys smaller ships and vintage design — in this case, more artwork and decor by Farcus.

In addition to a comedy club and an onboard spa, the ship also offers an adults-only sun deck, several bars and lounges, and plenty of dining options and daily activities to stave off boredom on longer voyages.

Bottom line

So, which Carnival cruise ship is the best? It all depends on your specific preferences. Whether you’re searching for an inexpensive vacation, a family-friendly vessel or a ship that will take you on a longer voyage to Europe, there’s a Carnival cruise to fit your taste and budget.
