What to expect from the Tour De Force Battle Pass

It's time to start grinding your way to the top — Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege soon receives its third major Battle Pass, in the wake of the Steel Wave season kick-off . The Tour De Force Battle Pass injects over 50 new cosmetics through the trendy tiered progression system, now commonplace across the multiplayer shooter space. That includes an extensive lineup of new in-game unlockables, split across free and paid tiers.

Tour De Force retains the fundamentals of any Rainbow Six Siege Battle Pass but expanding from 35 tiers to 45. The move extends the grind via additional items up for grabs, expanding the available rewards through your R6 Credits. That's divided across two tracks, one free for a small sampling of unlocks, and the premium track granting all items. You progress the tiers through completed matches and challenges, unlocking new wares at each level.

The arrival of Tour De Force also digs into the game's growing narratives, including the backstories of its Operators through featured skins. The rewards include new looks for Twitch, Rook, Fuze, Maverick, Nokk, each represented with new uniforms, weapon skins, and charms. The highlights include new armored motorcycled sets for Rook and Twitch, and a new unmasked Fuze. There's also a helping of Alpha Packs of guaranteed rarity, an R6 Credits rebate, and Renown boosters.

Rainbow Six Siege's Tour De Force Battle Pass is out now.

Ubisoft unveiled the Tour De Force Battle Pass with a scheduled June 25 release, suggesting its imminent arrival on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs. The publisher is yet to discuss a formal launch time, with surprise deployment on all platforms excepted.

However, understanding Ubisoft's schedule provides an estimated release time, as new limited-time events often activate in-game at 14:00 UTC — as seen with the last "Around The World" Battle Pass. That suggests a 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET / 3PM UK / 4PM CET debut for all platforms. While unconfirmed, keep an eye out as the time approaches.

How much does the Rainbow Six Siege Battle Pass cost?

The Tour De Force Battle Pass costs 1,200 R6 Credits, despite the additional content on offer. Year 5 Pass holders can also secure a 30 percent discount, dropping the price to just 840 R6 Credits. Those purchases will also be entitled to a 30 boost in Battle Points progression, speeding up your ability to grind through those rewards.

Tour De Force is an Empowerment ability that Chamber has to equip before using. Chamber can cast Tour De Force during the buy phase of any round in which he has his ultimate. Upon casting, he will summon a sniper rifle. Chamber can unequip and reequip this rifle with a shorter equip time for the rest of the round.

If Chamber kills an enemy with Tour De Force, a temporary slowing field will be created on the ground under the victim's position. If the target is high enough above ground when they are killed, it is possible for the slow field to not be created at all.

This is the Quikky Games road cycling game. We have here the first edition of the game (in a green plastic case) and the two modern editions in tin boxes, named "SLIM" and "POKKET". The rules for the smaller " POKKET" game are a simplified version of the already simple rules for the bigger "SLIM" game. While most Quikky games are available in English and in French, TOUR DE FORCE is also available in Spanish, as you can guess by the word "Salida" on the smaller board.

  In the larger version of Tour de Force (not in the POKKET one) we have a bigger white counter which represents the peloton. All the riders (smaller counters) in the peloton are placed on it (well, at least in the older rules: they are kept aside in the newer ones). The other riders throw against the peloton to see where they are in the race. This is a simple idea which works quite well as a simulation of a cycling race.  

In the new SLIM version of the game you can chose the type of stage you want to play (the options are "mountain top finish", "valley", "flat"), there are also simple rules for a time trial stage, and you can download scorecards  from the Quikkygames website to keep the classification of a stage race. Even though the game is a simple roll & move non-strategical game, it deserves a place in the short stage races section.

Tour De Force

Combining comedy and, er, cycling, Tour De Force was due for release by Gremlin Graphics in 1988 yet never materialized on the C64, despite being released on the Spectrum and CPC.

Your objective is to cycle through various locations around the world, in an attempt to win the ‘coveted’ yellow jersey. Various drinks are scattered across the road that you can pick up to keep your rider hydrated, (go easy on the wine though!), whilst sumo wrestlers, thugs, snakes and other riders will try to get in your way and stop you winning the race.

So what happened to the game itself? The C64 edition was advertised by Gremlin Graphics that stated that it was due for release on cassette and disk. Does that mean it was mastered and waiting for release at this time? If so then who programmed and worked on it? And why was it not released across all platforms simultaneously?

Well, David Plummer got in touch recently and confirmed that he was the developer for the game. He was working for a company in Ottawa, Canada called Aero Animation at the time, where the game was pretty much complete for Gremlin, but the company went under unfortunately before they could supply the game.

Very unusual that Gremlin had outsourced to a team in Canada, but then it may have come the way of US Gold’s links, as they had a Canadian team (Sydney Software) who developed titles like Dam Busters. They were ironically based in Ottowa, Canada – so it could be that it was the same company perhaps?

Although David has the source code still to the game, he has chosen not to release it out of loyalty. We may have to hope to find the game via another source for it to be properly preserved and enjoyed for the first time. For now, check out the newly found C64 screenshots, thanks to Martin / Stadium 64 !

In 2017, contributor Sean O’Neill found that the game was almost released on the 10 Mega Games Volume One compilation. It even featured on the cover and on the back, but was found that at the last minute was replaced on the tape with Cosmic Causeway. A shame, and something which almost made it out!

Martin/Stadium 64 also found that C64 instructions were included in the released Spectrum/Amstrad versions. It seems that Gremlin must have had a preview copy or something at some stage – so there could be something small to find of the game some day. Hopefully of course David will change his mind and release what he has.

While it would be good news if the C64 version of Tour De Force was discovered and preserved, I believe that Cosmic Causeway was better addition to 10 Mega Games collection as a game. After all, it was a sequel to Trailblazer and had some genuine improvements over its predecessor although at the expense of training and two player modes.

Hi Sean, great spot!

I got very excited for a moment, but then found they replaced it with Cosmic Causeway. If you look at the tape images, they swapped it and must have put an apology note in the box. Pretty gutting!

I wrote the C64 version, with I think the Spectrum being done a little earlier in the UK. The game was 95% finished when the company I was writing it for went under (a subcontractor to the publisher).

So the game was indeed written and mostly finished, but I have no idea if the code ever got released.

If it's that long I've really got to start paying attention to fuel, to keep my escorts on station. I'd wager aircraft readiness/maintenance levels will be horrible. I'll bet my dwindling Phoenix stocks and the like are going to be a problem too.
