Rome to Berlin: Piazzas, Prague & the Past

Great diversity of countries and cities but WAY too fast paced. One night in Slovenia and Poland was ridiculous and with travel time some days we spent less than 15 hours in the city. The guide was a but inexperienced so we didn't have a good description of some of the cities. Great way to make friends and see cities! Would recommend going end of August or later as it was still very hot going through the cities!!

The contiki service was outstanding from Greg as our tour guide, he was extremely welcoming and made all people on trip feel comfortable. He has amazing people skills which enabled the group to have a really really good time. He has an unbelievable knowledge of the places that we visited throughout the journey and was impressive to watch him relay the information to a group of people who come from all different walks of life

5 Day Skye & Highland Fling

This is the absolute BEST tour in Scotland!!!! So well planned and balanced!!! Not a moment wasted, but doesn’t feel rushed either. You’ll see all the highlights and make friends! I wouldn’t dream of driving around the Highlands myself- too much to see and learn vs studying a GPS. Branka is the BEST TOUR GUIDE EVER!!!

Central Europe Group Rail Tour (18-35)

I am so happy I took this trip! I love that there is a planned activity in each city but you also get free days to explore on your own or with new friends. Every city was stunning and I met some great people as well. The thing that made me want to leave a review the most was honesty our tour leader , Cristina was a delight and a perfect balance for our group. She made this trip more memorable then I could have imagined and had great tips for each city too!!!!! Truly an unforgettable experience I would highly recommend. I wish I did the whole Europe tour instead of just central Europe.

“People have already said it, but I’ll say it again: the itinerary is amazing. How many people in their twenties get to say they’ve partied in Ibiza, sipped wine in Santorini, cooked paella in Barcelona, and soaked up the sun in the French Riviera?”

Top European Tours for Young Adults

youth european tours

We would never say that adventure is reserved only for the young, but we would say that your younger years are a time to have adventures. So, from island-hopping in Greece to eating your way through Italy, these are the top European trips to embark on before you hit your 30s.

Stunning whitewashed rock formations and sea caves juxtaposing with the turquoise sea in Milos

Greek Island Odyssey

Write your own greek legend on this sun-splashed, eight-day adventure around the cyclades that starts in athens. after a crowd-beating tour of the acropolis and dining on local dishes in underrated neighbourhood keramikos, the next morning, it’s off to the island of milos while the sun skims gold coins across the surface of the aegean. after exploring the whitewashed alleyways and quiet beaches in milos, it’s on to atmospheric naxos, where you’ll learn how to cook a traditional three-course greek meal. santorini – with those iconic hillside views – is your final stop., from us$1551, next available from 28th apr 2024, secure your spot with a low deposit, trip highlights and details, athens, greece, physical rating.

Stiniva beach, on Vis island, has a green waters, a small stretch of sand and two cliffs acting as a gateway to the sea

Coastal Croatia

There are at least 101 reasons to visit the dalmatian coast in croatia – and this eight-day adventure covers just about all of them, starting with two nights in seductive split. next, it’s over to the ritzy, party-loving island of hvar, with a romantic medieval town centre and bar-lined beaches. we suggest you get your socialising done here because the next stop – the island of vis – is all about serene seclusion, as you explore the wild beaches and grotto-like sea caves. korčula is next, dappled with vineyards and olive groves, and where you’ll get to sample crisp, local wines. finally, you’ll visit dubrovnik and try some deliciously briny oysters before heading home., from us$2369, next available from 26th may 2024, split, croatia, dubrovnik, croatia.

A set of hands cutting a pizza topped with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil leaves

Seductive Southern Italy

The only people who’d argue that southern italy isn’t the most beautiful part of the country are northern italians. for anyone else, the ankle end of italy’s boot boasts the most postcard-pretty places – from matera to positano. this 10-day tour takes it all in, starting in naples, the spiritual home of pizza. but it’s not just pizza that the city is proud of, as you’ll find out on a street-food tour. nor, as you’ll discover next on a day-long excursion, is the amalfi coast just for instagram posers, or the region of puglia only about olive oil., from us$2809, next available from 27th apr 2024, naples, italy, lecce, italy.

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

What makes a trip to Europe with TFT special?

Authentic meals.

Europe is famous for its the wide variety of cuisine and we eat where the locals eat! We avoid chain restaurants and encourage our groups to try new foods (Yes, that means trying escargot in Paris and the infamous haggis of Scotland!)

Age Specific Tours

We offer trips to Europe for specific age groups. There are tours exclusively for middle school, 9th and 10th graders, and “older teens” finishing 11th and 12th grade. Each tour is uniquely designed to be age appropriate.

Central Accommodation

Other companies cut costs by staying outside the city center, but we stay right in the middle of the action! Our hotels are always carefully chosen for a great and safe location that allows us to maximize our time exploring and feel more like a local.

Unparalleled Experience

Did you know TFT started running tours to Europe over 20 years ago? Since then Europe has become one of our most popular destinations, and we offer more trips to Europe and visit more countries than any other teen travel company!

Europe’s best tours for active young adults

While do-it-yourself backpacking trips to Europe are still popular among young people, a significant number of college students and travelers in their 20s and early 30s opt to book guided youth tours. The perks of youth escorted tours are the same as other escorted tours. However, to attract cost conscious students and other young people, most youth tour companies make use of budget accommodations like campgrounds or hotels located outside city centers.

These youth-oriented trips are infused with a great sense of fun and camaraderie, and they are designed with the budget traveler in mind. Guided sightseeing excursions are balanced with ample free time to explore. Solo travelers are welcomed with singles share programs that match roommates of the same gender. Participants often come away from these tours with new friendships and future travel companions.

There are two tour operators catering to younger travelers: Contiki offers tours solely to people age 18-35, and Trafalgar reserves certain departures for travelers age 21-38.

Looking to explore the timeless landscapes of Europe? Want to explore the national parks of the U.S.? Or the exotic treasures of Asia and beyond? We offer an incredible array of active vacations worldwide. Discover your dream trip – The world’s most intriguing countries await you with many different itineraries to fit your travel needs.  Our world is full of incredible destinations, each with hundreds of different sights, sounds, tastes and smells which help form your own vacation experience.

You’ll be stunned by the pyramids in Egypt, breathless after climbing the Eiffel Tower in France and exhilarated after bungee jumping in Australia.

Tour inclusions vary, but most include all accommodations, most breakfasts and  some dinners, transportation during the trip, the services of experienced guides, and many attraction admissions, guided tours, and other excursions. Travelers have the option to select lower-priced tours with accommodations in campgrounds and other budget lodgings or pay more for tours that include stays in higher-end accommodations.

Next we’ll hear the chimes at Notre Dame and drive along the Champs-Elysées to see the Arc de Triomphe. Take an evening cruise down the Seine River and visit Sacre Coeur in the bohemian artist village of Montmartre. After roaming the vast gardens at the Palace of Versailles our student European teen tour is off to Switzerland.

Our time in Switzerland begins as our teen tour drives to the majestic Swiss Alps to reach the village of Zermatt, nestled amongst beautiful alpine lakes and enchanting ice-blue glaciers. The teens will have Professionally Guided Summer Snow Skiing and Snowboarding on the Matterhorn or will take an Alpine Gondola Ride to experience a personal breathtaking view of this serene environment.

Benvenuti in Italia – Welcome to Italy! Our first stop is Venice, a breathtaking city built on 118 small islands that are separated by canals and linked by over 400 bridges. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime moonlit gondola ride along Venice’s canals and cross the Bridge of Sighs. Visit St. Mark’s Basilica, Doge’s Palace and enjoy a late night of Gelato and people watching in Piazza san Marco.

As they say…When in Rome…we’ll set foot in the Colosseum where gladiators once fought and stroll down The Ancient Roman Forum, the center of Roman commerce during ancient times. We’ll see Circus Maximus, step inside the Pantheon, walk down the Spanish Steps, toss coins over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain, and then spend the evening in the charming Piazza Navonna. Walk through Vatican City and St. Peter’s Basillica on our guided tour, and marvel at Michelangelo’s artwork in the Sistine Chapel.

Excitement abounds as we take in the stunning views of cliffs, grottos and shimmering bays as we reach Sorrento, our beautiful resort town spread along the terraces that rise above the sea. Step onto our Hydrofoil Boat Ride as we head to the Island of Capri, where we’ll take a boat ride to the Blue Grotto, swim in the crystal clear sea, and enjoy a relaxing beach day. Sorrento is so fabulous, you’ll never want to leave. On our way to Florence, we will check out the archeologic ruins of Pompeii, a Roman town frozen in time from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D.

Florence is a city bustling with industry, craft, commerce, culture, art, and science. Some sights on our Guided City Tour include Ghiberti’s Bronze Doors, Michelangelo’s “David,” the Duomo, and the Ponte Vechio. Our teenagers will hear the best mixes of international dance music at our two-level International Dance Club. Enjoy delicious Italian Pasta Dinners that will tempt your palate and wake your taste buds. As we leave Florence we’ll stop at the Leaning Tower of Pisa, then it is off to the French Riviera.

#DiscoverEU

Last updated on Monday, 13/11/2023

Thousands of 18 year olds will have the chance to travel through Europe for free with #DiscoverEU. Be prepared for the next round of applications!

Have you ever wanted to travel through Europe? Thanks to the European Union’s #DiscoverEU initiative you could have the chance. With so much to do and see throughout the EU, it is sure to be a life-changing experience.

What is #DiscoverEU and how does it work?

The European Union is offering travel passes for you to explore its cultural diversity, to connect with other Europeans, and for you to enjoy the advantages of the freedom of movement! If you are 18 years old, you are eligible to travel for minimum 1 day and up to 30 days. The next application round will be open on the European Youth Portal, keep an eye here .

DiscoverEU will give participants passes to travel by rail, but please remember that accommodation and living expenses are not included should you win! Read on to see how you can plan an amazing experience!

Plan Your Trip

For your trip to run as smoothly as possible, planning in advance is the way to go! To help budget, be sure to know the cost of living , and price of travelling to your chosen destinations. Note that certain trains may require reservation . In these cases, you have to make the train reservations yourself. When travelling by night, check the possibility of booking a bed on that particular train. See the overview of reservation cost per country to avoid unwanted surprises!

Apps can also be very helpful, with this trip planner ,   Lonely Planet’s guide app and Citymapper , you can plan the perfect trip. Do you need to know more? On  Lonely Planet Country Forums  you can ask questions about a specific country or city. You can also find great information on  VisitEurope . Reducing accommodation costs can also lead to big savings! For details on hostels, camping and flat renting, you can find information  here . Be aware that you are advised not to book until you know if you are selected, and on what dates you will be travelling!

Events and ideas

European cities are a hotbed of great events, so no matter what your interest area, there’s something for you! In many European cities, it is possible to do a free guided tour through the centre. This is a nice and cheap way to learn about the history of the city; and the guide usually also gives you some useful “insider” information. For ideas on where to visit, European Best Destinations covers an array of categories, mainly dealing with cultural sites throughout Europe. Street festivals also offer a chance to get involved with a destination country’s culture, enjoying festivities alongside locals. Expatexplore will also recommend events that you can enjoy throughout your travels, with sporting and art events covered thoroughly. For music enthusiasts, festivals around Europe offer a huge variety of performers. From a family atmosphere at Electric Picnic in Ireland, to dancing non-stop at Tomorrowland in Belgium, every genre and demographic is covered!

You can still ring 112 in the event of an emergency . Remember that roaming charges no longer apply in the EU, and that you can search through reviews of hostels or google areas in which you’re travelling.

In case of loss or theft, you need to report back to the local police. You will need to enclose the police report when making your insurance or compensation claim. Cancel any lost or stolen debit or credit cards immediately. If your passport has been stolen, report it to your country’s consulate or embassy as well as to the police. Always keep a scan of your ID or Passport (for example, in your email), this can help in an emergency.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
