15 Best Frankfurt Tours
With nearly 750,000 residents, Frankfurt is Germany’s fifth-largest city.
It’s also the most populous city in the state of Hesse, and one of the continent’s most active financial trading centers.
Frankfurt’s ideal location on the River Main has made it a commercial center for centuries. It’s awash in natural, historical, and cultural attractions that make it a popular destination for tourists from all over the world.
The city sports trendy art and food scenes and a variety of guided tours are available to suit most budgets and interests.
Below are 15 of the best tours of Frankfurt.
1. Welcome to Frankfurt Private Tour with a Local
Want to help reduce greenhouse gases and ease urban congestion?
If so, then forgo the typical bus and van tours and set out with a local guide to explore the wonders of Frankfurt using nothing more than muscle power.
These private tours can be customized based on available time as well as the interests of the group, and generally range from two to six hours.
Tours begin with getting to know your guide and familiarizing yourself with the neighborhood in which you’re staying.
Aspects of history, culture, food, and nightlife may be included, but food, drinks, and site entrance fees are extra.
2. Unique E-Bikes Tours
In keeping with the increasingly popular eco-friendly theme, these e-bike tours are great ways to see things from a unique perspective without contributing to the demise of the planet.
E-bike tours come in three options that include a Frankfurt City Tour, the Green Belt Cycling Road, and a Cider and Orchard Tour.
City Tours focus on history, art, and architecture and are particularly popular with those who prefer bustling urban settings.
The second and third options explore regional parks and green spaces, as well as the large tracts of orchards that have been growing apples and making cider for centuries.

3. Food Hopping Tour of Soul Food and Cult Drinks
Generally speaking, Soul Food is more associated with American cities like Atlanta, Memphis, and New Orleans than with German ones like Frankfurt.
That being said, Frankfurt is often referred to as the Hessian Manhattan, and its food scene features a number of international influences.
This four ½-hour food, drink, and culture tour focuses on traditional pubs, trendy eateries, hip hangouts, and other places of interest that are a bit off the beaten path.
That means more intimate and memorable experiences for travelers who’d rather rub elbows with locals and live like a Frankfurter than cram themselves into a hot tour bus and view things from a distance.
4. Frankfurt Scary Tour
Apparently, Frankfurt is one of Europe’s creepiest and most ghost-ridden cities, because a number of fear-based tours are available to visitors who prefer to explore the dark side.
Tours begin when participants meet their guide in a central Old Town location.
Scary tours are conducted on foot, last about 75 minutes, and hit some of the city center’s most historically significant sites.
Nearly all of them have elements of the macabre in their pasts, and there’s no better way to learn about them than with a knowledgeable local.
Though tours are spooky, they’re generally appropriate for all but the very young and shamelessly weak-kneed.
5. 1 or 2-Hour Frankfurt Sightseeing Cruise
River cruises are especially popular options for those interested in seeing many of Frankfurt’s most impressive and iconic attractions from a different perspective.
Tours leave from the Eiserner Steg boat launch multiple times daily, come in 50 and 100-minute options, and depart heading both up and downstream.
The aforementioned options make it possible to see the city from multiple vantage points, which is a great fit for photographers.
Tours offer unobstructed views of the city’s skyline and financial center, as well as other attractions like the Sachsenhausen museum district and the monument built in honor of the German poet Goethe.
6. Night Pub Crawl through Alt-Sachsenhausen
If trendy clubs, VIP wristbands, and free shots sound like great additions to a night on the town, then this pub crawl tour through Alt-Sachsenhausen was made just for you.
The tour is only offered on Friday and Saturday nights when things are in full swing and includes stops at four or five pubs and clubs in the city’s most vibrant party area.
Guests will spend about an hour at each location, and a number of free drinks and shots are included throughout the night.
Stops range from wine bars and Irish pubs to chic cocktail lounges and thumping nightclubs.
7. Wertheim Village Shopping Package from Frankfurt
For those in need of a little retail therapy, there’s no better destination in the Frankfurt metropolitan area than Wertheim Village.
It’s an outlet village that features exclusive international brands like Hugo Boss, Versace, Coach, and Calvin Klein products and apparel at significantly reduced prices.
Participants get a VIP Card worth 50 Euros at the time of booking. Since it’s just an hour from Frankfurt, most of the tour’s six hours are spent taking advantage of the smoking deals.
Transportation to and from the village is provided on a dedicated Shopping Express bus, and meal vouchers are part of the package as well.
8. 2 ½-Hour Food Hopping Taste and Tales Tour
Despite its relatively short length, this 2 ½-hour tour packs a big punch.
It combines elements of food, history, culture, and local lore into one convenient package that’s perfect for those who’d rather not skimp on the vacation experience just because they’re working with limited time.
After meeting their guide, tour guests will head into the city’s gastronomic Old Town Quarter to explore markets, restaurants, food stalls, and other obscure culinary gems.
Tours include an English-speaking guide, six tastings, and lots of interesting narration along the way.
Guests typically discover places they’d like to explore later on their own, so don’t be shy about asking your guide for suggestions.
9. Frankfurt Flight Simulator
Imagine landing an Airbus A320 full of antsy travelers at a distant airport at night in the rain.
Or piloting a supersonic F-16 fighter jet on a bombing mission over enemy territory.
Sounds pretty unlikely for the uninitiated, but those who choose to spend time strapped into Frankfurt’s premier flight-simulator attraction can live those scenarios and many more.
Before hitting the skies, guests will get a briefing from an experienced airline pilot who will give them the basics of flight.
Featuring hundreds of aircraft and tens of thousands of airports to choose from, it’s a truly exhilarating experience, and you won’t have to worry about anti-aircraft fire or jetlag.
10. Old Town Guided Walk
Frankfurt’s Old Town is one of the city’s most visited neighborhoods. It is full of an impressive variety of historic attractions and magnificent modern buildings that seamlessly blend elements of the old and new worlds.
At one ½-hours, these guided walking tours are perfect for those of most levels of physical fitness. They visit several key attractions like the Emperor’s Cathedral, St. Paul’s Church, and the museum district on the shores of the Rhine River.
Along with their guide, tour guests will explore some of the city’s most quaint neighborhoods characterized by narrow lanes, centuries-old buildings, markets, and family restaurants.
11. Day Trip to Eltz Castle
The combined population of Frankfurt proper and the surrounding towns and suburbs contain more than two million residents.
That means lots of urban hustle and bustle, which for many visitors, can get to be a bit much after a few days.
Thankfully, there are a variety of day-trip options that begin and end in Frankfurt while allowing guests to spend ample time in the country.
Eltz Castle is a wonderfully preserved attraction that’s still much the way it was over eight centuries ago.
Tours include unrestricted castle access and the chance to appreciate its opulent appointments while learning about those who lived there in eras long past.
12. 1 or 2-Hour Hotrod Sightseeing Tour
Sit down. Strap yourself in. Start your engine.
Well, first you’ll need to meet your guide, learn the basics of German road laws, and get an overview of how to use your hotrod safely.
For car aficionados with an hour or two to spare looking for a memorable experience, this tour is just the ticket.
Following their guide’s lead, guests will pilot their machines to city hotspots like the Port of Frankfurt, the museum district, and over the Friedensbrücke Bridge taking in the city’s iconic skyline.
Bring your camera, a scarf, and a pair of those cool antique racing goggles if you have them.
13. Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour
For those who prefer seeing things their own way, hop-on-hop-off tours are great value.
Not only does this Frankfurt tour include stops at some of the city’s most notable attractions like Goethe’s home, the historic City Hall, and the Church of St. Paul, but it allows eager sightseers to experience the things that interest them and skip those that don’t.
The city’s famed Zeil shopping district and the European Central Bank tend to be perennial favorites, but they’re just a few of many included.
Depending on which ones guests decide to explore, tours can range from just a few hours to nearly nine.
14. Day Trip to Neuschwanstein Castle and Rothenburg
Germany is brimming with castles and fascinating history dating back countless centuries.
This guided tour begins and ends in Frankfurt and includes excursions to Neuschwanstein Castle nestled amid the foothills of the majestic German Alps.
For lovers of impressive architecture, old-world craftsmanship, and intriguing history, it’s truly in a league of its own.
From there, guests will head to Rothenburg, one of the most well-preserved medieval towns in all of Germany.
Tours include roundtrip transportation to and from central Frankfurt, a boxed lunch, and admission fees to all attractions.
At more than 12 hours, it’s a long day, but well worth it for those with plenty of stamina.
15. Half-Day Tour of the Rhine Valley from Frankfurt
The middle and upper Rhine Valleys are among the most scenic destinations within day-trip distance of Frankfurt.
This six-hour, value-packed tour includes an English speaking guide and a river cruise, as well as amazing views of medieval castles, idyllic wineries, and quaint villages that look like they’ve been forgotten by time.
Guests will enjoy sightseeing by bus, time to explore on foot, a wine tasting at an old tavern, and a romantic dinner at an acclaimed restaurant overlooking the river.
Consider reserving your space well in advance of your trip, because spots tend to fill up quickly during the peak tourist season.

Fodor's Essential Germany Whether you want to take a boat down the Rhine, go to Oktoberfest in Munich, or explore...
Although many consider Frankfurt more or less a gateway to their European travels, the city’s rich culture and history, dining, and amusement options might just surprise you.
Standing in the center of the Römerberg (medieval town square), you'll see the city's striking contrasts at once. Re-creations of neo-Gothic houses and government buildings enfold the square, while just beyond them modern skyscrapers pierce the sky. The city cheekily nicknamed itself "Mainhattan," using the name of the Main River that flows through it to suggest that other famous metropolis across the Atlantic. Although only fifth in size among German cities, with a population of nearly 700,000, Frankfurt is Germany's financial powerhouse. The German Central Bank ( Bundesbank ) is here, as is the European Central Bank (ECB), which manages the euro. Some 300 credit institutions (more than half of them foreign banks) have offices in Frankfurt, including the headquarters of five of Germany's largest banks. You can see how the city acquired its other nickname, "Bankfurt am Main." It's no wonder that Frankfurt is Europe's financial center. The city's stock exchange, one of the most important in the world, was established in 1585, and the Rothschild family opened their first bank here in 1798.
The long history of trade might help explain the temperament of many Frankfurters—competitive but open-minded. It's also one of the reasons Frankfurt has become Germany's most international city. Close to a quarter of its residents are foreign, with a growing number from Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Because of its commercialism, Frankfurt has a reputation for being cold and boring, but people who know the city think this characterization is unfair. The district of Sachsenhausen is as gemütlich (fun, friendly, and cozy) as you will find anywhere. The city has world-class ballet, opera, theater, and art exhibitions; an important piece of Germany's publishing industry (and the world’s largest annual book fair); a large university (43,000 students); and two of the three most important daily newspapers in Germany. Despite the skyscrapers, especially in the Hauptbahnhof (main train station) area and adjoining Westend district, there’s much here to remind you of the Old World, along with much that explains the success of postwar Germany.

Your Trip to Frankfurt: The Complete Guide
Frankfurt has a long history dating back to the early days of the Holy Roman Empire. During World War II the financial center of the country was thoroughly destroyed. Unlike Dresden and many other German cities , Frankfurt shrugged off its elegant historic architecture and emerged anew as "Mainhattan" (named for the Main River winding through the city and the skyscrapers reminiscent of Manhattan).
This sleek German hub is an international destination for business, its major international airport , and its exciting event and dining scene. The largest city in the state of Hesse and fifth-largest in Germany, Frankfurt is a world-class city with an impressive skyline of skyscrapers and a vibrant community of university students, internationals, convention-goers, and cultured locals
Use this guide to plan your trip to the hustle and bustle of Frankfurt , including when to visit, where to stay, eat, party, and more.
Planning Your Trip to Frankfurt
- Best Time to Visit: Events take place throughout the year in Frankfurt, so you might have a hard time choosing what time of year to visit. The weather is best in spring and fall. The very best time to visit Frankfurt may be in October, the month of the Frankfurt Book Fair .
- Language: German, but English is widely spoken.
- Currency: Euro.
- Getting Around : Frankfurt is a common entry point in Germany because of its major international airport. From there, visitors can easily travel to and through the city via its extensive public transportation network, which includes U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and buses. Taxis are also accessible, though Uber and other ride-shares have yet to find a firm foothold. Much of Frankfurt has been an "environmental zone" since 2008, so if you're driving ensure that your vehicle has an emissions sticker.
- Travel Tip: The city can accommodate large groups for the many conventions that take place in Frankfurt, but visiting during a large conference can result in higher prices for hotels and restaurants requiring reservations. Consult Frankfurt's tourism calendar for dates of significant events.
Things to Do in Frankfurt
If you are in town for business or a short trip , there are still plenty of operas or museums or jazz concerts you can fit into your itinerary. On top of that, Frankfurt has top attractions like the Main Tower to entertain the whole family .
- Even though Frankfurt is famous for its futuristic skyline, it also has a reconstructed and romantic Altstadt (old city) worth visiting. Walk the cobblestone streets and admire the half-timbered houses of the Römerberg.
- Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749-1832) is one of Germany's most famous writers and a son of Frankfurt. He is revered at the rebuilt Goethe House and Museum .
- Step away from civilization at the tranquil Palmengarten , a botanical garden founded in 1868. It includes 50 acres and more than 6,000 different botanical species from all around the world.

What to Eat and Drink in Frankfurt
Frankfurt's dining scene can be refreshingly international with options from Japanese to SoCal. But those are merely a welcome distraction from Frankfurt's traditional cuisine. The city has several restaurants that are more than 100 years old and an endless supply of sausage . Try classics like the fragrant, poetically named handkäse mit musik (cheese with music), or order hard-boiled eggs and boiled potatoes with Frankfurter grüne sosse (Frankfurt green sauce).
Frankfurt also has hip and modern bars in places like the Bahnhofsviertel , a formerly seedy area surrounding the central train station. But if you want to get to the heart of the city, you have to visit an apfelweinlokal (traditional apple wine bar). Known as ebbelwoi in the local dialect, this tart, slightly sour fruit wine, is a must-try when in Frankfurt. The charming bembel the drink is served in also makes for a great souvenir if you find one at the city's many flea markets.
Explore our articles on Frankfurt's apfelwein , the top restaurants in Frankfurt , and Frankfurt's nightlife .
Where to Stay in Frankfurt
Frankfurt is composed of 46 distinct neighborhoods, each with its positives and negatives. Some areas nod to the city's historical past while others embrace its forward-thinking style. Innenstadt is the center of the city with both modern and reconstructed historic hotels. For easy travel in and out of the city, the Bahnhofsviertel area around the train station has the highest concentration of hotels, many at affordable prices.
No matter where you stay, the center of the city is compact and walkable. Excellent public transport links mean it is easy to get anywhere.
Explore the different areas of the city in our article on the best neighborhoods in Frankfurt .
Getting to Frankfurt
The Frankfurt-Flughafen am Main (FRA) is the main entry point for most visitors and with 70 million passengers in 2019, it's the busiest airport in Germany. It is the hub for Lufthansa, as well as Condor, and a major transfer point for domestic and international travel. The airport has two passenger terminals, four runways, and extensive services for travelers.
From the airport, visitors can easily reach the city via public transportation or by private transport. The S8 and S9 (direction Offenbach or Hanau) reach Frankfurt's Hauptbahnhof (central railway station) in about 10 minutes for just 4.65 euros. Taxis are also readily available.
Within the city, the network of public transportation includes U-Bahn (metro), S-Bahn (local trains), and buses that run throughout the night.
Culture and Customs in Frankfurt
- Customer service in Germany is infamous for its low standards, but because of Frankfurt's international populace, service is often better here than in the rest of the country.
- When eating out in Germany, know that you should seat yourself and will need to ask for the bill at the end of the meal. Say " Die Rechnung, bitte " (the check, please) and tip by rounding up to the nearest euro, or no more than 10 percent.
- Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel used to be a dangerous area to hang around, but today it is downright trendy. There is still some drug use and prostitution , but the latter is legal.
- Since 2018, Frankfurt has a tourism fee for overnight stays of two euros per person per night.
Money-Saving Tips for Frankfurt
- Make use of walking and public transport in Frankfurt as it is inexpensive and the best way to see the city. Regular tickets ( einzelfahrt ) costs 2.75 euros and allows for travel on all forms of transport in one direction for two hours. Zone 50 includes most of Frankfurt, excluding the airport. If you are going to be using transport all day, buy a Tageskarte (day ticket) for 5.35 euros.
- Many hotels are geared toward business travel, so prices stay low (think under 100 euros a night). However, the decor can be very basic.
- If you have flexibility on your travel dates, check the Messe (convention center) calendar for major trade fairs that will drive up prices. It is best to avoid those days.
- Looking for souvenirs? Frankfurt’s largest flea market is held every other Saturday. It's a bargain-hunters' dream.

Beloved Europe
The tour was fun and interesting even though with heavy rain in Prague. Our tour guide Guillermo/William was awesome, very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Our tour bus driver Parvel was a very good driver, very kind and helpful with our luggage. The hotels are also very nice, clean and the staff are very accommodating.I really enjoyed this tour. I highly recommend this tour and highly recommend Europamundo and Tour Radar for your future tours.

This was a wonderful experience, Diana Vega
Highlights of Germany
Sites visited and tour guides were good. Hotels need improvement since most did not have air conditioning that worked well.
Magical Bavaria
Small tour group with an exceptionally knowledgeable guide. He knew the best places to stop for food/beer and navigated us through any queues! Such beautiful places to explore (Rothenburg & Residenz Wurzburg were a particular highlight... we would never have visited if travelling alone) Hotels were of a high quality... particularly loved the hotel in Nuremberg (facilities & breakfast were awesome) Location of all hotels were perfect. All airport transfers were on time and very professional. Tour transport was very comfortable- Mercedes Bus. We would definitely book with Indus Travel again as they responded quickly to all queries. Miller were their local supplier in Germany we can highly recommend them - a very professional service.

Frankfurt Tours, Trips & Vacation Packages
Frankfurt is the business and financial centre of Germany and the largest city in the German state of Hesse. When on German vacations, It is known for its futuristic skyline and the busiest German airport. Located on the River Main, Frankfurt is the financial capital of Continental Europe and the transportation centre of Germany. It is home to the European Central Bank and the German Stock Exchange. Furthermore, it hosts some of the world's most important trade shows, such as the Frankfurt Auto Show and the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Frankfurt is a city of contrasts. Wealthy bankers, students and drop-outs coexist in a city that has some of the highest, most avant-garde skyscrapers in Europe next to well-maintained old buildings. It is the gateway to the rest of the country on travel to Germany and for many people also the first point of arrival in Europe.
If spending time here on German tours, consider visiting some of the following. The Romerberg is the busy market square located in the Old Town. Attractions located on the square include the Old Town Hall, St. Nickolas Church, the Ostzeile (half-timbered old houses) and the Frankfurt History Museum. Frankfurt Cathedral, also known simply as the Dom, is an imposing old Roman Catholic Gothic church located in the centre of Frankfurt. The original opera house in Frankfurt is now the Alte Oper (Old Opera), a concert hall and former opera house. Destroyed by bombs in 1944. It was rebuilt, slowly and in 1981, opened again. The Frankfurt Opera is now in a modern building nearby.
Paulskirche or St. Paul's Church was the seat of the first democratically elected parliament in Germany in 1848. Like most historic buildings in the city centre, it was destroyed during World War II but was also among the first buildings to be rebuilt. Today the building is used as a memorial site and an event Centre. The Eiserner Steg (Iron bridge). Frankfurt's well-known pedestrian bridge was built in 1869. It is just a minute away from the Romerberg and provides great views of the skyline and the Main River. The Goethe House was the family residence of the Goethe family, most notably the writer, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Today, the visitor can see the study with its writing desk as it would have been used by Goethe to pen his works.
Sachenshausen is reached by crossing one of the bridges from the city centre. The Main River embankment here hosts the city's largest flea market and some of Frankfurt’s best-known museums. The old town part, Alt-Sachsenhausen is famous for its old cider bars. Sachsenhausen is known for its vibrant nightlife sporting over two dozen bars, taverns and restaurants in the southern part of the old town.
The Frankfurt TV Tower began in 1974. At its completion five years later, it became the tallest free-standing structure in the Federal Republic of Germany. The top of the tower can revolve and provides a panoramic view of the Rhine-Main area. The Messeturm (English: Trade Fair Tower) is a 63-storey skyscraper. It is the second tallest building in Frankfurt, the second tallest building in Germany and the third tallest building in the European Union.
Frankfurt is a handy starting point for traveling to Germany to visit neighbouring tourist attractions such as Heidelberg and the Rhine Valley.
Extend your Stay

Fine Hotels + Resorts Program: Fine Hotels + Resorts® (FHR) program benefits are available for new bookings made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for eligible U.S. Consumer, Business, and Corporate Platinum Card® Members, and Centurion® Members. Additional Platinum Card Members on Consumer and Business Platinum and Centurion Card Accounts are also eligible for FHR program benefits. Companion Card Members on Consumer Platinum and Centurion Card Accounts, Additional Business Gold and Additional Business Expense Card Members on Business Platinum and Centurion Card Accounts, and Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Card Members are not eligible for FHR program benefits. Bookings must be made using an eligible Card and must be paid using that Card, or another American Express® Card, in the eligible Card Member's name, and that Card Member must be traveling on the itinerary booked. The average total value of the program benefits is based on prior-year bookings for stays of two nights; the actual value varies. Noon check-in and room upgrade are subject to availability and are provided at check-in; certain room categories are not eligible for upgrade. The type of experience credit or additional amenity (if applicable) varies by property; the experience credit will be applied to eligible charges up to the amount of the experience credit. Advance reservations are recommended for certain experience credits. The type and value of the daily breakfast (for two) varies by property; breakfast will be valued at a minimum of US$60 per room per day. If the cost of Wi-Fi is included in a mandatory property fee, a daily credit of that amount will be applied at check-out. Benefits are applied per room, per stay (with a three-room limit per stay). Back-to-back stays booked by a single Card Member, Card Members staying in the same room or Card Members traveling in the same party within a 24-hour period at the same property are considered one stay and are ineligible for additional FHR benefits (“Prohibited Action”). American Express and the Property reserve the right to modify or revoke FHR benefits at any time without notice if we or they determine, in our or their sole discretion, that you may have engaged in a Prohibited Action, or have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with your FHR benefits. Benefit restrictions vary by property. Benefits cannot be redeemed for cash and are not combinable with other offers unless indicated. Benefits must be used during the stay booked. Any credits applicable are applied at check-out in USD or the local currency equivalent. Benefits, participating properties, and availability and amenities at those properties are subject to change. To be eligible for FHR program benefits, your eligible Card Account must not be cancelled. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card.
The Hotel Collection Program: The Hotel Collection (THC) benefits are available for new bookings of two consecutive nights or more made through American Express Travel with participating properties and are valid only for eligible U.S. Consumer and Business Gold Card, Platinum Card® Members, and Centurion® Members. Additional Card Members on Consumer and Business Platinum Card Accounts, and Additional Card Members on Consumer and Business Centurion Accounts are also eligible for THC program benefits. Delta SkyMiles® Gold and Platinum Card Members are not eligible. Bookings must be made using an eligible Card and must be paid using that Card, or another American Express® Card, in the eligible Card Member's name, and that Card Member must be traveling on the itinerary booked. Room upgrade is subject to availability and is provided at check-in; certain room categories are not eligible for upgrade. The type of experience credit or additional amenity (if applicable) varies by property; the experience credit will be applied to eligible charges up to $100. Advance reservations are recommended for certain experience credits. Benefit restrictions vary by property. Benefits are applied per room, per stay (with a three-room limit per stay). Back-to-back stays booked by a single Card Member, Card Members staying in the same room or Card Members traveling in the same party within a 24-hour period at the same property are considered one stay and are ineligible for additional THC benefits (“Prohibited Action”). American Express and the Property reserve the right to modify or revoke the THC benefits at any time without notice if we or they determine, in our or their sole discretion, that you have engaged in a Prohibited Action, or have engaged in abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with your THC benefits. To be eligible for THC program benefits, your eligible Card Account must not be cancelled. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card.
$200 Hotel Credit: Basic Card Members on U.S. Consumer Platinum Card Account are eligible to receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year when they or Additional Platinum Card Members use their Cards to pay for eligible prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection bookings made through American Express Travel (meaning through amextravel.com, the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card) or when Companion Platinum Card Members on such Platinum Card Accounts pay for eligible prepaid bookings for The Hotel Collection made through American Express Travel (meaning through amextravel.com, the Amex® App, or by calling the phone number on the back of your eligible Card). Please note, access to the benefit may take up to 24 hours to take effect on your Card after Account opening. Purchases by both the Basic Card Member and any Additional Card Members on the Card Account are eligible for statement credits. However, the total amount of statement credits for eligible purchases will not exceed $200 per calendar year, per Card Account. Fine Hotels + Resorts® program bookings may be made only by eligible U.S. Consumer Basic Platinum and Additional Platinum Card Members. The Hotel Collection bookings may be made by eligible U.S. Consumer Basic and Additional Platinum Card Members and Companion Platinum Card Members on the Platinum Card Account. Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Card Members are not eligible for the benefit. To receive the statement credits, an eligible Card Member must make a new booking using their eligible Card through American Express Travel on or after July 1st, 2021, that is prepaid (referred to as "Pay Now" on amextravel.com and the Amex App), for a qualifying stay at an available, participating Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection property. Bookings of The Hotel Collection require a minimum stay of two consecutive nights. Eligible bookings must be processed before December 31st, 11:59PM Central Time, each calendar year to be eligible for statement credits within that year. Eligible bookings do not include interest charges, cancellation fees, property fees or other similar fees, or any charges by a property to you (whether for your booking, your stay or otherwise).
Statement credits are typically received within a few days, however it may take 90 days after an eligible prepaid hotel booking is charged to the Card Account. American Express relies on the merchant’s processing of transactions to determine the transaction date. The transaction date may differ from the date you made the purchase if, for example, there is a delay in the merchant submitting the transaction to us or if the merchant uses another date as the transaction date. This means that in some cases your purchase may not earn the statement credit benefit for the benefit period in which you made the purchase. For example, if an eligible purchase is made on December 31st but the merchant processes the transaction such that it is identified to us as occurring on January 1st, then the statement credit available in the next calendar year will be applied. Statement credits may not be received or may be reversed if the booking is cancelled or modified. If the Card Account is canceled or past due, it may not qualify to receive a statement credit. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as eligible, you will not receive the statement credits. For example, your transaction will not be eligible if it is a booking: (i) made with a property not included in the Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection programs, (ii) not made through American Express Travel, or (iii) not made with an eligible Card. Participating properties and their availability are subject to change. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit, American Express will not have an obligation to provide and may reverse any statement credits provided to you. If a charge for an eligible purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Card Account, the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead, the statement credit may be applied to your Pay In Full balance. Please refer to AmericanExpress.com/FHR and AmericanExpress.com/HC for more information about Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection, respectively.
5X Membership Rewards® Points Platinum Card: Basic Card Members will get 1 Membership Rewards® point for each dollar charged for eligible purchases on their Platinum Card® or an Additional Card on their Account and 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar charged for eligible travel purchases on any Card on the Account (“Additional Points”), minus cancellations and credits. Eligible travel purchases are limited to: (i) purchases of air tickets on scheduled flights, of up to $500,000 in charges per calendar year, booked directly with passenger airlines or through American Express Travel (by calling 1-800-525-3355 or through AmexTravel.com); (ii) purchases of prepaid hotel reservations booked through American Express Travel; and (iii) purchases of prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com. Eligible travel purchases do not include: charter flights, private jet flights, flights that are part of tours, cruises, or travel packages (other than prepaid flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com), ticketing or similar service fees, ticket cancellation or change fees, property fees or similar fees, hotel group reservations or events, interest charges, or purchases of cash equivalents. Eligible prepaid hotel bookings or prepaid flight+hotel bookings that are modified directly with the hotel will not be eligible for Additional Points.
Bonuses that may be received with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express cannot be combined with this benefit. Any portion of a charge that the Basic Card Member elects to cover through redemption of Membership Rewards points is not eligible to receive points. Additional terms and restrictions apply.
Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for Additional Points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn Additional Points if the merchant’s code is not included in an Additional Points category. Basic Card Members may not receive Additional Points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an Additional Points category. For example, you may not receive Additional Points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services, a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers), or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.
To be eligible for this benefit, the Card Account must not be cancelled. If American Express, in its sole discretion, determines that you have engaged in or intend to engage in any manner of abuse, misuse, or gaming in connection with this benefit in any way American Express may remove access to this benefit from the Account. For additional information, call the number on the back of your Card or visit americanexpress.com/rewards-info for more information about rewards.
5X Membership Rewards Points for Business Platinum Card: You will get one point for each dollar charged for an eligible purchase on your Business Platinum Card® from American Express. You will get 4 additional points (for a total of 5 points) for each dollar spent on eligible travel purchases. Eligible travel purchases include scheduled flights and prepaid flight+hotel packages made online at AmexTravel.com, minus returns and other credits. Additionally, eligible travel purchases include prepaid hotel purchases made through American Express Travel, over the phone with our Travel Consultants or made online at AmexTravel.com, minus returns and other credits. Eligible travel purchases do NOT include non-prepaid hotel bookings, scheduled flights and prepaid flight+hotel packages over the phone, vacation packages, car rentals, cruise, hotel group reservations or events, ticketing service, cancellation or other fees, interest charges, purchases of travelers checks, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, or purchases of other cash equivalents. To be eligible for the 5x Membership Rewards® points, you must both reserve and charge the travel purchase with the same eligible Business Platinum Card®. To modify a reservation you must cancel and rebook your reservation. You can cancel and rebook your reservation on AmexTravel.com or by calling a representative of AmexTravel.com at 1-800-297-2977. Cancellations are subject to hotel cancellation penalty policies. If hotel reservations are made or modified directly with the hotel provider, the reservation will not be eligible for this 5X Membership Rewards® point benefit. To be eligible to receive extra points, Card account(s) must not be cancelled or past due at the time of extra points fulfillment. If booking is cancelled, the extra points will be deducted from the Membership Rewards account. Extra points will be credited to the Membership Rewards account approximately 6-10 weeks after eligible purchases appear on the billing statement. Bonuses you may receive with your Card on other purchase categories or in connection with promotions or offers from American Express may not be combined with this benefit. The benefits associated with the Additional Card(s) you choose may be different than the benefits associated with your basic Card. To learn about the benefits associated with Additional Card(s) you choose, please call the number on the back of your Card.
Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. We group certain merchant codes into categories that are eligible for additional points. A purchase with a merchant will not earn additional points if the merchant’s code is not included in an additional points category. You may not receive additional points if we receive inaccurate information or are otherwise unable to identify your purchase as eligible for an additional points category. For example, you may not receive additional points when: a merchant uses a third-party to sell their products or services; or a merchant uses a third-party to process or submit your transaction to us (e.g., using mobile or wireless card readers); or you choose to make a purchase using a third-party payment account or make a purchase using a mobile or digital wallet.
Please visit americanexpress.com/rewards-info for more information about rewards.
Pay with Points: To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards® program-enrolled American Express® Card. Eligible purchases through American Express Travel exclude non-prepaid car rentals and non-prepaid hotels. Points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account, and credit for corresponding dollar amount will be issued to the American Express Card account used. If points redeemed do not cover entire amount, the balance of purchase price will remain on the American Express Card account. Minimum redemption 5,000 points.
See membershiprewards.com/terms for the Membership Rewards program terms and conditions.
If a charge for a purchase is included in a Pay Over Time balance on your Linked Account the statement credit associated with that charge may not be applied to that Pay Over Time balance. Instead the statement credit may be applied to your Pay in Full balance. If you believe this has occurred, please contact us by calling the number on the back of your Card. Corporate Card Members are not eligible for Pay Over Time.
Terms and Conditions for the Membership Rewards® program apply. Visit membershiprewards.com/terms for more information. Participating partners and available rewards are subject to change without notice.
The value of Membership Rewards points varies according to how you choose to use them. To learn more, go to www.membershiprewards.com/pointsinfo .

Eintracht Frankfurt announce US summer tour
Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to the USA this summer as part of their preparations for the 2024/25 Bundesliga season.
The Eagles, who count former US international Timothy Chandler and one-time USMNT midfielder Paxten Aaronson among their current squad, will be in Louisville, Kentucky from 22 July until 3 August.
As part of the trip, Dino Toppmöller 's team will play friendlies against Mexico's Juárez and local outfit Louisville FC.
Frankfurt's stateside presence has been on the rise since a pre-season trip to the USA in summer 2017. They also enjoyed a training camp out there in 2020.
More recently, the club have staged youth soccer clinics in Hartford and Philadelphia, while Deutsche Bank Park played host to two high-profile NFL games in November 2023.
