The Car Tour

The particularity of the Omega Park is that it must be visited by car. Yes, you just have to drive the 15 km of way-marked roads in the comfort of your car!

Entrance-of-the-Park

At the entrance of the Park

To make the experience more enjoyable, you can bait the deers with carrots. Get close to them and they will approach you. Roll down your windows all the way and they’ll stick their snouts into your car to satisfy their voracious appetite for carrots.

Warning : don’t roll down your entire window or you’ll be covered in dripping drool!

Tip : Plan on several kilos/pounds of carrots. You’ll be surprised how quickly they’ll disappear, especially when you realize that you’ve used up half of them in the first 5 minutes after you enter the park.

Forgot your bags of carrots at home? No stress, you can buy some at the park.

Car-Tour

The car tour is one-way and takes about an hour and a half to complete. You can drive around the park as many times as you wish during the day.

But the Omega Park is not just a place to visit by car. It is also possible to car park to stretch your legs and make the fun last.

The Land of The Pioneers

Halfway along the journey, park your car and discover the Land of the Pioneers. In this area, the park offers a host of activities to entertain both young and old for a large part of the day.

Visit this area on foot and enjoy various activities, playgrounds and picnic tables.

Observe the grey wolves on the footbridge set up for this purpose. Learn more about them by asking your questions to the guide-interpreter.

Parc Omega: A Guide to Quebec’s Safari Park

November 24, 2018

Parc Omega is a safari park. It’s the perfect place to visit if you want to see some of Canada’s wildlife. We so seldom get to see animals in the wild, even those of us who are avid outdoors people. Parc Omega gives you this opportunity and allows you to interact with animals that should otherwise be given a wide breadth in the wild.

This post provides you with information about the park, its animals, and location. It also gives you some idea of when to visit, what to bring, and what to expect.

Female elk towers over car

399 QC-323, Montebello

The Park is located near Montebello, Québec approximately an hour drive from Ottawa and 1.5 hours from Montréal.

The entrance to Parc Omega will lead you to a small kiosk where you will pay the entrance fee. Upon payment, you’ll receive a map with the location of the various animals. Signs near the entrance tell you to tune your radio to the Parc Omega station. Doing this will get you a broadcasted tour from your car’s audio system. The broadcast teaches you about the park’s animals and gives you some history of First Nations in Canada.

At the kiosk, the park staff will inform you of any specific instructions for your stay. For us, this included instructions not to feed the male animals because it was mating season. They also told us to be cautious on our drive up a specific snow-covered hill. After paying the fee and receiving any special instructions, your safari adventure begins. The car tour is relatively short. Depending on how often you stop and feed the animals, it will take you 30 minutes to 1.5 hours.

If you didn’t bring any carrots with you to feed the animals, you can pick some up at the Park House. It is located at the beginning of the drive. You are not permitted to feed the animals anything other than carrots.

The Animals at Parc Omega

The park boasts over 15 species of animals. These include black bear, cinnamon bear, rocky mountain goat, alpine ibex, coyote, moose, gray wolf, black wolf, caribou, arctic fox, musk oxen, red deer, white-tailed deer, fallow deer, raccoon, and prairie bison. You’re also likely to encounter different species of birds. We saw ravens, chickadees, vultures, wild turkeys and a blue heron.

Coyote is walking through the snow looking to his left

What to Expect

Unlike a zoo, which often cages animals in small quarters, the animals in Parc Omega are given larger and more natural enclosures. This means that you won’t always get an up-close view of some animals like the bison, wolves, or bears. But it’s better for the animals this way. That being said, these are much smaller territories than the animals would have in the wild.

The deer, elk, caribou, and boar have the full range of the park minus the enclosed areas which house their predators. The behaviour of these free roamers is more like domesticated animals than their equivalents in the wild.

There are a couple animal shows put on by the park. Try to catch the wolf show, it runs a couple times a day and you can learn lots about the park’s wolves. The park guide will explain wolf pack dynamics using “alpha behaviour theory.” The theory will hold true for the wolves kept at the park but it is not true for wolves in the wild. You can check out my post about wolf pack dynamics to learn more.

In the summertime, the park also hosts a birds of prey show. I’ve never seen the show myself, but it is well-reviewed online.

What to Bring

While you can buy food at the park, I suggest that you pack a lunch which will save you both time (waiting in lines) and money. There are three picnic areas at Parc Omega. They are located at the Park House, Land of First Nations, and Land of the Pioneers. Don’t be surprised if the animals join you at your picnic!

Bring your camera. You will get some amazing shots of the deer, elk, caribou, and boar regardless of whether you are snapping photos on your phone or DSLR. If you want up-close shots of some of the other animals, you might need a zoom or telephoto lens.

Bring appropriate footwear for the weather conditions. You have to walk a short distance to see the gray wolves and there is a short trail in Land of the First Nations that is nice to visit.

Finally, if you have animal allergies, pack some allergy medication.

Fallow deer looks curious

The entrance fee to the park varies depending on the season. You do not pay by car but by person. The price can be steep but a family rate is available (2 parents and 2 children).

Each season will be a slightly different experience at Parc Omega:

In fall, the park has the added bonus of beautiful autumn foliage. Keep in mind, you won’t be able to feed any of the male deer species from October – November. This is the mating season and they can become aggressive if fed.

The winter is the low season. The park fees are slightly lower and there are fewer people around. If you go on a weekday morning, you might find that you have the park almost all to yourself. The only animal you won’t be able to see is the bears which will be hibernating in their dens.

In spring, you may get to see newborns! Some people say the highlight of their trip was seeing baby bears who recently emerged from their dens.

The summer is peak season. The park is busier, and the entrance fee is more expensive. Peak summertime hours are from 11am – 2pm. It’s best to arrive earlier or later to try to beat the crowds. On really hot summer days, it’s possible that some of the animals will be seeking shelter from the sun.

A white-tailed deer looks on in a snowy landscape

A Word of Caution

Some people are concerned about their car being damaged by the animals. We’ve never had an issue with this, but it is possible. On our first visit, we noticed that a goat looked like it wanted to jump up onto our car. This would have likely resulted in damage. We just made sure to keep driving slowly so it didn’t have the opportunity.

I’m sure 90 percent of incidents of car damage are caused by people acting irresponsibly. For example, I saw an Instagram video of young people teasing some of the deer and then getting their car “hoofed” pretty badly as a result. Parc Omega is not responsible for any damages that may be caused by the animals.

I hope you get the opportunity to visit Parc Omega! If you do, let me know in the comments section what you thought of the experience.

Finally, remember that this is a curated safari park. Please treat animals you encounter in the wild with respect – never feed them, give them lots of space, and try not to disturb them.

The Parc Omega – A Drive-Through Safari in Canada

15. September 2021 Categories: Travel reports , North America , Canada

We are always happy when we can visit during our travel the many different zoos in the world. On our 670-kilometer journey from Tadoussac on the St. Lawrence River to Ottawa in the southeastern part of the province of Ontario, we visited a very special zoo: Parc Omega – a safari park where we could even drive through independently with our large camper .

Things to know about Parc Omega

Omega Park was founded in 1985 and opened its doors to the public in 1991. The park’s original concept was a place to spot North American wildlife on a 2,200-acre site in the region’s natural landscape. Gradually, the park was expanded taking into account nature, so that today more than 20 different animal species can be observed in their natural environment. The aim is to show visitors the beauty and simplicity of nature while providing unforgettable and respectful experiences with the wildlife, culture and history of Québec and Canada.

The location of Parc Omega in Canada

Parc Omega is open every day of the year, including public holidays. Depending on the season, the opening hours are different, usually the park is open on weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm and on weekends from 9 am to 5 pm, with the last entrance possible at 4 pm. Due to pandemic, it is currently only possible to buy the entrance tickets online . You can therefore not just go there and buy tickets at the ticket booth, unless you have an annual pass or other free tickets.

Our tip: Buy one (or preferably several) bags of carrots in a supermarket beforehand. These may be fed to the deer and moose. Alternatively, you can also buy carrots in the visitor center.

With our caravan on Drive-Through Safari

The Parc Omega is a drive-through park . So you stay in the car as a visitor and drive on a wide, well-signposted path through the park – this is even possible with a motorhome or with school buses. In addition, there are some designated places where you can leave the car, e.B. at hiking trails, playgrounds or picnic areas.

Reindeer, Moose, Deer & Roe Deer

Most of the animals in the park – in addition to countless wild geese – are reindeer, moose, deer and roe deer. You can find them almost everywhere in the park. The special thing is that they all walk around completely freely and are totally trusting. As soon as you stop somewhere with the car, it does not take long for the first animals to come to the car and wait longingly for a carrot.

Black Bears & Cinnamon Bears

The highlight of our park visit was waiting for us at the end of the trail: a group of black bears and cinnamon bears. The black bear is the most common bear species in Canada and is perfectly equipped for the cold winter due to its thick, shiny coat. Although black bears are omnivores, they eat 75% plant-based. One color form and subspecies of the American black bear is the so-called cinnamon bear, of which there are two pairs in Omega Park. Cinnamon bears are native primarily to the central, eastern, and western areas of the United States and Canada. The most striking difference between cinnamon bears and all other black bears is their brown or reddish-brown fur, which is a bit reminiscent of cinnamon. We were able to convince ourselves that cinnamon bears are excellent climbers. The sight of this big bear in the tree was really gigantic and we could hardly believe our eyes. A great experience!

I paid $1,600 to stay at a lodge at Parc Omega, where wolves come right up to your window

  • My friends and I paid $1,600 to stay at a wolf lodge at Parc Omega, a safari park in Quebec, Canada.
  • The lodges had panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows to watch wolves in their forest habitats.
  • We thought the experience was well worth the money, especially since we had access to the trails.

Insider Today

This year, more and more people are prioritizing spending money on trips instead of going out with friends — and, with that, visiting dream destinations and soaking in one-of-a-kind experiences are top of mind.

A few years ago, I saw a video of people on a vacation I knew would be worth adding to my own bucket list . This video showed people staying in a lodge at Parc Omega as beautiful Canadian gray wolves walked past floor-to-ceiling windows.

I knew my friends and I had to visit a wolf lodge for ourselves, and this past winter, we finally got to go. Here's what our $1,600 stay at Parc Omega was like.

I booked my trip to Parc Omega several months in advance.

animal safari in quebec

Before I booked a lodge, I regularly checked the cabin availability on Parc Omega's reservation page. I didn't have any specific dates in mind, but knew I wanted a two-night stay during the winter months.

Finally, in May 2023, a two-night stay for February 2024 opened up. I eagerly booked a cabin with two of my friends.

The lodge was expensive, but I split the cost with my friends.

animal safari in quebec

The total for a two-night stay with taxes and fees was $2,160 CAD, or about $1,600 USD, which I split with two friends.

When I booked, I noticed prices for the wolf cabins started at $570 CAD per night. The rates seemed to fluctuate depending on demand and season.

We could choose from a cabin, lodge, or chalet. Since we weren't sure if more friends would join us, we chose a lodge that could house up to six people.

My friends and I flew to Ottawa and drove to Parc Omega.

animal safari in quebec

The drive from Ottawa to Montebello, Quebec, was about an hour long, but we arrived just in time for the 4 p.m. check-in. When we entered the park, we drove to the check-in cabin, which was located near the entrance.

A receptionist handed us maps of the lodges and the whole park, told us we'd be staying in the Artique Lodge, and gave us directions to our housing unit.

Our lodge was one of four houses located near a 13-member wolf pack's protected forest habitat.

animal safari in quebec

Our lodge was located near a 13-member-wolf-pack habitat. At check-in, the staff explained we'd see different wolf behaviors dependent on the season.

For example, they said in the spring, parkgoers may see wolf pups emerging from the den with their mother.

There were a few safety precautions in place.

animal safari in quebec

At check-in, a staff member gave us an emergency number and reminded us not to feed the wolves. A very tall fence also separated the wolf habitat from the lodge's yards and patios, so the animals couldn't get to the parkgoers.

We also couldn't open the windows overlooking the wolves' habitat.

We saw the wolves as soon as we walked through the lodge's doors.

animal safari in quebec

We saw beautiful Canadian gray wolves standing at our floor-to-ceiling window when we entered the lodge .

We immediately sat on the floor, pressed our noses against the glass, and forgot about unpacking the car and putting groceries in the fridge.

I felt so lucky to see the wolves greeting us as new guests. Some of them even started howling, which gave all of us goosebumps.

We watched the wolves through the window for hours.

animal safari in quebec

Eventually, my friends and I put a few blankets and pillows on the floor to get cozy as we watched the majestic animals .

The wolves howled well into the night, which felt magical during the snowfall.

The wolves were a highlight of the trip, but the Artique Lodge was really nice, too.

animal safari in quebec

I thought the Artique Lodge was large enough to fit six people comfortably.

The kitchen had a fridge, stove, microwave, Nespresso machine, and plenty of cookware and utensils. There were two sofas and a coffee table in the living room, four beds around the lodge, and a bathroom on the ground floor.

We also enjoyed an outdoor fire pit with a cooking grate and a seating area.

We enjoyed breakfast alongside the wolves.

animal safari in quebec

The next morning, we cooked breakfast and enjoyed our meals as the wolves fought over their own food in front of us.

I loved watching the wolves play with each other.

animal safari in quebec

We continued to watch the wolves sleep, fight, howl, play, and roam around their habitat. I loved observing their behaviors, which I imagine are similar to wolves in the wild.

We also drove along Parc Omega's trail.

animal safari in quebec

Parc Omega offers a large wildlife safari park with about 20 animal species, including moose, caribou, arctic foxes, and bison. As lodge guests, we had free access to the park.

People not staying at Parc Omega's accommodations can access the wildlife safari with a ticket, which costs about $44 CAD.

With the help of the park map we received at check-in, we drove along the 7 ½-mile marked path, which took about an hour and a half. It was an amazing, lively drive as the deer, moose, and caribou approached our car so we could feed them carrots.

Overall, staying at a lodge at Parc Omega was worth the money.

The wolf lodges at Parc Omega were a truly one-of-a-kind experience.

I loved how the lodge's panoramic floor-to-ceiling bay windows allowed us to be so close to the wolves. I felt like I was living in a fantasy novel.

Although it was an expensive trip for me, I thought the unique excursion was a great value, especially since we had access to the park trails. I'm ecstatic I crossed the wolf lodges off my bucket list.

Omega Park: A One-of-a-Kind Canadian Safari In Quebec.

young boy stood in front of a deer

Our visit to Omega Park is something that will stay with us for such a long time. This Canadian, one-of-a-kind safari was so unique and something we had never experienced before, it really doesn’t feel over the top to say that our visit to Omega Park was magical.

Just an hour outside of Ottawa and a little longer from Montreal, the indigenous animals roam in a natural environment throughout this 2,200 acre site within the Outaouais Valley and you’re able to self-drive it or get on a tour bus. I should probably start by saying that Park Omega is kind of a zoo, by way of the dictionary definition. But, if a zoo was going to exist, then this is the best kind! The safari takes you along a 15km route where you can spot native animals throughout Omega Park and you can even feed them with carrots that you can purchase from the gift shop if you wish. The park is in Quebec so it’s French name is Parc Omega but everything, as with everywhere in Quebec it seemed, was available in both French and English.

We were incredibly lucky to have park technical director Serge Lussier as our guide and I honestly enjoyed every moment of our time with him. His dedicated work within his field spans decades and his legacy will live on for decades to come due to the amazing work he has done. He came out of retirement to run this park, knowing how special it was and how parks like this can change the world, through the people who visit and what they take away from it.

How Wild Are The Animals At Omega Park?

At Omega Park you’ll find many animals such as moose, wolves bears, elk, arctic fox and bison. Yes, some areas are fenced off, but that’s for the safety of the public and the animals themselves; you don’t want the wolves strolling into a deer’s path, or a visitor for that matter!  The animal’s diets are supplemented as they can’t hunt as they would do in the wild, but this definitely feels like you’re in the wild with them. There are however wild animals like raccoons who roam free and seem to have made Omega Park their home – I don’t blame them!

When Is The Best Time To Visit Omega Park?

Omega Park is open all year round so it’s perfect for whenever you’re on your family holidays in Canada . We visited in May, which was pleasantly warm, and the baby animals were hopping around which was lovely. There are so many activities you can do all year round, whether it be during the snow-covered winters or the flower filled summers. Have a look at the year-round activities at Parc Omega for details but I think no matter when you visited you’d see some spectacular things. A bonus of going in spring is you’ll see the black bears emerging from hibernation.

How to Navigate the Park

The park is set up in areas most natural to the animals’ habitats, little eco-systems such as forest, tundra or Alpine region. This ensures predator are fenced off from prey and the animals are comfortable in their environment. The safari path takes you through all these areas seamlessly. Make time to enjoy the First Nations area and Trout Lake and learn about why this area is so special.

Our Highlights At Omega Park

Getting up close and personal with the elk and deer as they pass by the car and put their heads in the window!

Photographing these beautiful animals in their natural habitat and the children being able to touch them.

Without a doubt spending time in Serge’s company impacted our lives and it was such a privilege to learn from him. Learning about the animals and their environment, especially teaching our children about them and impacting their future thoughts about the delicate natural world.

Feeding the passing animals’ carrots and getting out of the car to walk among them.

The many intricate, wooden sculptures – find the Algonquin eagle at the Land of the First Nations for a chance to walk beneath it’s wings and have your wishes granted! The new sculptures at the enchanted house were incredible, the detail and painstaking skill involved in creating them really blew us away.

Feeding the wolves! Serge had helped design a viewing platform to watch the wolves without disturbing them and we were lucky enough to feed them from above, a very special experience! The boys now shout Allez! Allez! every day to call animals over (Serge’s secret call!) It was really interesting to learn all about how a pack works and the hierarchy.

Where To Stay For Omega Park

You can even stay at Park Omega to sleep with wolves in log cabins and tipi’s, which would be a brilliant experience. However, if you were looking for a grander accommodation for a longer stay I would highly recommend the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello nestled in the scenic village of Montebello and surrounded by nature, just 5 minutes down the road from Omega Park. The stunning hotel is the world’s largest log cabin which boasts a huge stone fireplace centrepiece that dominates the interior. Here you can unwind in the health spa, swim in their ginormous pool or enjoy 18 holes of golf before enjoying one of the 6 restaurants and the most enjoyable sleep! The breakfast here was incredible and you can enjoy it whilst feasting on the beautiful view out to the lake.

A Few Tips For Your Visit to Omega Park

Obviously, I realise we were very lucky to have Serge as our guide, but if you self-drive then here are a couple of tips to make the most of your time at Park Omega.

Leave enough time, you can easily spend a whole day here (and night!) so don’t scrimp!

Take a pack of wipes or tissues – the animals can get very slobbery when you feed them!

Don’t have your car cleaned before you go. This is an off the beaten track experience!

Keep your windows half way – the animals can get very intimate!

Pick up the park’s radio station for guidance and directions.

Don’t forget your camera! And binoculars if you have them.

Take walking boots if you want to go on one of the many hiking trails available.

This is a collaborative post. Our tour and entry of Park Omega and stay at Chateau Montebello was kindly gifted but we would definitely go back as a paying guest as we loved it so much.

Québec City is surrounded by magnificent forests, natural areas of all kinds, and several national parks. Suffice to say, it’s a great place to see wild animals in their natural habitats. Along with the animals mentioned below, hikers often sight groundhogs, red squirrels, porcupines, raccoons, hares, and white-tailed deer.

Réserve faunique des Laurentides - Moose

This North American giant—the biggest antlered animal on the planet—can weigh up to 600 kg. Antlers start to appear on the males in the middle of summer and reach full size by early September, just in time for mating season. Even with their fall antlers, these imposing animals can move through the forest without making a sound.

Where to see moose : Moose are kings in Jacques-Cartier National Park , especially in the fall. Whether you are hiking or canoeing, keep your eyes peeled!

Whale coming out of the water in Tadoussac

The mouth of the Saguenay Fjord and the St. Lawrence estuary are particularly rich in zooplankton. This concentrated food supply draws 13 whale species to the area, including the blue whale—the largest marine mammal on the planet. One species, the beluga, spends the entire year in the St. Lawrence. This fragile whale population is classified as endangered.

Where to see whales:  There are  one‑day whale‑watching tours  that leave from Québec City. If you have a car, you can head out to Tadoussac for a boat or zodiac tour with Croisières AML.

Black Bears

Black bear watching

Despite their burly appearance, black bears are timid and discreet. As omnivores, they eat plants, fruits, nuts, insects, fish, and other animals, and generally live alone. Black bears hibernate through the cold months but can wake up during winter warm spells.

Where to see black bears:  Black bears can be safely observed all summer long with  Aventure Inukshuk  as well as at  Réserve faunique des Laurentides , and  Pourvoirie du Lac Moreau .

Greater Snow Geese

Snow geese watching

Snow Geese spend their summers in the High Arctic tundra and winter along the eastern coast of the United States. They migrate over 4,000 km along a corridor that runs through Québec.

Where to see greater Snow Geese :  In the spring and the fall, these migratory birds make a stop at the  Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area . Naturalists are on hand with telescopes during migration season to answer visitor questions. The wildlife area is a great observation spot for many other bird species as well.

Observation du castor

Beavers are the biggest rodents in North America. They’re also able swimmers and highly skilled engineers. Beavers build their lodges on rivers and streams and maintain systems of dikes and channels in the surrounding aquatic environment. They don’t hibernate, but spend more time resting during the winter.

Where to see beavers:   Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier  has beaver‑watching activities from May to October. Beaver families are regularly spotted along the park’s Scotora trail.

Bird-watching

Bird Watching

The Québec City area has a lot to offer birdwatchers. Many species, including chickadees, pileated woodpeckers, and blue jays, can be sighted year round. If you’re lucky, you may even encounter one of the great horned owls or snowy owls that overwinter in the region. Other species that nest in the area during the summer include the ruby-throated hummingbird, great blue heron, American robin, rose-breasted grosbeak, and Cape May warbler.

Where to see birds:  Birds can of course be observed in nearly every urban park or outlying area, but with 160 different species sighted to date,  Marais du Nord  is an especially good spot for birders.

Tips for Wildlife Watching

  • Sunrise and sunset are the best times for spotting wild animals.
  • Road signs for moose crossings are posted in places where there’s a high risk of hitting a moose. If you see one, slow down.
  • If you meet a bear, stay calm and alert. Do not run. Give the bear space, then leave the area or make a wide detour if you have to go around.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins: A Weekend Sleeping With The Wolves

Written By: The Planet D

Published On: October 22, 2023

It was our second visit to Parc Omega Wolf Lodge in Quebec and this time we were staying in the magnificent wolf cabin. This unique accommodation, ingeniously designed with glass walls allows guests the rare opportunity to witness the wolves in their natural habitat, all from the comfort and safety of a cozy, well-appointed cabin. As twilight falls the parc empties out save for those who booked a stay at one of the wolf cabins. As silence falls, the haunting melodies of wolf howls punctuate the air, creating a symphony that speaks to the soul.

Parc Omega Wolf Lodge, Quebec

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Experience Quebec

Parc Omega is a unique wildlife park located in Montebello, Quebec, Canada, that offers visitors a chance to observe a variety of North American wildlife in their natural habitats. Spread over 2,200 acres, this park is home to many species such as deer, bison, bears, and wolves. One of the most unique experiences that Parc Omega offers is the opportunity to stay in Parc Omega’s wolf cabin.

Apart from the wolf cabins, there is plenty to see and do at Parc Omega. Visitors can drive through the park and observe the animals from the comfort of their own vehicles. Parc Omega is one of the best places in Canada to see Canadian wildlife.

Self Drive Safari

Parc Omega Wolf Lodge Self Drive

You can visit Parc Omega on a day trip from Ottawa or Montreal. When you enter the park, you will begin a 12km self-drive loop through the different habitats. The route takes about an hour and a half to drive through, but if you are like us and take a lot of photos, it can be a couple of hours.

The car tour is an amazing way to see wildlife from the safety and comfort of your vehicle.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Feeding Deer

Be sure to pick up a bag of carrots to feed the deer. You are allowed to feed carrots to the animals from your window. We suggest picking up at least two bags of carrots, the white-tailed deer are cute, but they are greedy and love eating out of the palm of your hand.

Habitats of Parc Omega

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Habitats

Something we love about Parc Omega is how it has recreated landscapes to mimic the animal’s natural habitats. Serge Lussier who specializes in conservation, helped to design a lot of the habitat within the park. He said that he wouldn’t bring an arctic animal to Parc Omega if they didn’t have a habitat for them.

There is the Arctic Tundra for Arctic animals and wide open plains for the bison. The mountain goats were perched atop a high rocky hill and looked right at home. Since mountain goats normally live at high altitudes, this is a good alternative for them to live out their days.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Mountain Goats

Parc Omega Experiences

Parc Omega offers a bunch of different experiences. So much so, that you can make an entire weekend out of visiting Parc Omega. If you want to stay overnight at one of the wolf cabins, pods or tents be sure to book well in advance as this is one of the most popular attractions in Canada. Let’s break down some of the experiences you can have at Parc Omega.

Cocktail With Wolves

A new exclusive experience that is perfect for groups of family or friends is to book a cocktail dinner at the Wolf Observatory. This exclusive experience includes a naturalist guide who will tell you all about the life of the wolf. it includes a feeding of the wolves followed by a cocktail dinner. will allow you to live an unforgettable face-to-face encounter with this emblematic animal. Accompanied by a naturalist guide, let yourself be carried away by his story and unravel the mystery of this legendary species. A unique experience in Quebec awaits you!

Indigenous Trail

Parc Omega Indigenous Trail

In addition to the wildlife, Parc Omega also has a rich cultural history. The park is located on land that was once inhabited by the Algonquin First Nations people, and there are several exhibits and installations throughout the park that showcase their history and culture.

One way to get out and experience the nature and scenery of Parc Omega is to hike the 1km (.6 mile) forested trail that leads past totems carved by Indigenous Algonquin artist Dennish Charette. In the summer, you can enjoy Omega by Night, an illuminated walk followed by storytelling. In the winter it is a snowshoeing trail making the experience even more magical.

Park House Restaurant and Gift Shop

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Park House

The Park House Restaurant and Gift Shop will be your first stop on your Parc Omega safari. It is here that you can grab your bag of carrots and if you want a bit to eat there is a restaurant. It also has a good gift shop to pack up some souvenirs.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabin Accommodations

If you plan to do any of the extra experiences at Parc Omega, you may want to stay overnight. There are not a lot of accommodations around the park, so this is a good option. You can check prices and availability here . Here are a few options for you to consider.

Parc Omega Wolf Chalet

Parc Omega Wolf Lodge Chalets

Nestled within the pristine wilderness of Parc Omega in Quebec, the wolf cabin offers an unparalleled retreat into the heart of nature, providing an immersive and intimate encounter with one of the most mysterious and majestic creatures of the forest – the wolf.

The Wolf Lodge at Parc Omega is not your typical accommodation. The wolf lodges are log cabins made of wood and glass, providing a cozy and intimate atmosphere while also offering panoramic views of the wolves as they roam freely in their habitat. The cabins are insulated and have heating for the colder months, as well as air conditioning for the summer.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Interior

There is a comfortable bed, a bathroom with a shower, and a small kitchenette for preparing meals complete with a dining table, microwave, refrigerator, Nespresso coffee machine, dishes, and towels. So make sure to pack food and wine. You’ll be nestling in for the evening for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The highlight of the cabin, however, is the large glass window that offers an unobstructed view of the wolves.

Parc Omega Wolf Lodge Seating Area

Staying in a wolf cabin is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the beauty and power of these animals up close, all while being in a safe and controlled environment. Each accommodation option (Wolf Chalet, Wolf Lodge, or Wolf Cabin) is located in the same complex, they are just different buildings that cater to different groups.

Watching the Interaction of Wolves From Our Chalet

We spent the night in a log cabin in the middle of the wolf sanctuary where a pack of wolves spent the night howling, running around, sleeping, and playing in front of our private glass observation room.

During the day, you can go for a walk along the boardwalk to observe the wolves from above. At night, you can hear the wolves howling, providing an authentic and unforgettable wilderness experience. It was amazing to watch the alpha male dominate the pack. It was very clear to see the nuances of the wolf pack with the Alpha male and Alpha female looking strong and healthy and the others falling into line down to the scruffy omega.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabin Platform

My heart broke for the poor Omega wolf who was constantly being bullied or ignored. Even during the wolf howl in the middle of the night, we noticed that it wasn’t allowed to join in. We could tell it wanted to so badly, but it knew it couldn’t. It really lived up to all of the hype and is an experience we recommend you don’t miss.

Other Accommodation Options

Parc omega tent accommodation

There are other more affordable options from booking a night in a tent or tipi. Wi-Tents are the ultimate glamping experience with beds and seating inside a large conical tent. There is wood heating, an outdoor fire pit, and solar energy for lighting.

There is an organic toilet and water for drinking. But the best thing about this accommodation is that you’ll have access to the footbridge to view the wolf and bear enclosures.

Pod Village

Another option for accommodation is to stay in one of the pods in the village. They are not located in the wolf enclosures so you won’t be seeing the wolves at night, but you will still hear the sounds of the park and you will be able to enjoy the activities that happen after the sun goes down.

Pods have electricity, heating and air, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. Kids will love sleeping in the mezzanine bed that acts as the ultimate bunk bed. They are also near the Old Farm which is a great place to visit with kids.

Par Omega Wolf Lodge View

Stilt House

Families will love staying in the stilt house. It sleeps 7 people with full beds and bedding to rent if you don’t want to bring your own. We just suggest packing a sleeping bag. Like the tents, it has an organic toilet, an outdoor fireplace, and solar energy for lighting.

This also gives access to the wolves’ and black bears’ footbridges to observe them in their natural habitats.

Wolves and Bear Suite

Just new and officially opened in September 2023 is Parc Omega’s new Wolves and Bear suite. This time you get the best of both worlds. You have your option of the one or two-floor suites. These cabins are pure luxury with modern decor, fireplaces, and even an outdoor fire pit. They are strategically placed so you can see both the bears and the wolves up close. The two-floor unit even has a balcony for incredible views. It is important to note that the bears are hibernating from November to April so it will just be the wolves during this time.

Regardless of which type of accommodation you choose, you will have a great time. You can check out the prices for all the accommodations right here.

Great Canadian Safari – The Wildlife Of Parc Omega

Parc Omega Wolves Arctic

Visiting Parc Omega is like going on a safari. We have been on safari around the world and this is very similar. The other animals are in large enclosures and roam freely. They can walk right up to your car so be prepared. Sometimes the deer and caribou can get a bit aggressive when trying to eat carrots, so make sure to keep moving.

You can go around the driving trail as many times as you like to see the different animals. Do not get out of your car except for at designated areas.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabins Arctic Foxes

Arctic Foxes : Our favorite part of Parc Omega was definitely the Arctic enclosures. We enjoyed seeing the arctic animals in the wintertime more than our other visits. They seemed completely in their element when a blanket of snow was on the ground. WE had seen arctic foxes in northern Canada but it was nice to get a more up and close view of them.

Park Omega Wolf Cabin Experience Arctic Wolf

Arctic Wolves : Seeing wolves is one thing in life, having the chance to see beautiful Arctic wolves is another. These wolves were very curious when we stopped to see them. They kept their distance, but they posed beautifully for our camera. Did you know that the Arctic wolf is a sub-species of the Gray wolf? You can also learn a lot about the wildlife while you are here.

Parc Omega Elk

Elk : A great time to visit Parc Omega is during the rutting season when male antlers have reached their full growth. WE saw a few males with their harem of females. They are such beautiful animals that I think we spent 20 minutes just watching them.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabin Caribou

Caribou : Reindeer are called caribou in Canada, but if you are visiting Parc Omega with kids, call them reindeer, they’ll love it! What I always found interesting about these animals is the size of their hoofs. They are huge, a nd help them walk through the snow in the winter, which is the best time to see them in my opinion.

Parc Omega Wolf Cabin Coyotes

Coyotes : Until I saw coyotes in the wild, I never really understood just how large they are. They can easily be confused with wolves, but they are a bit smaller. One way to tell them apart is to look at their ears, they are pointier than a wolf. We loved seeing the Coyotes in the fall when the leaves were yellow and orange. What a magnificent backdrop for these beautiful animals.

We could go on and on listing the wildlife of Parc Omega as there are also walking trails that take you through different habitats, where you can see animals such as wild boars, raccoons, and beavers.
