Top 5 airlines flying to Jordan

Operated by American Airlines. Very chaotic and the crew was bit rough responding any enquiries. Restricted leg space.. Qatar would have been better

Qatar airways from Doha to guangzhau was excellent big bird Boeing 777 more room and smoothly flight, I Love it

It was good no problems made it on time for the next flight overseas!

The made us waiting and held our passports and boarding pass making us miss our flights

Not impressed. Only allowed one carry on on such a long flight.

The flight was good but my neighbor had the vent open full power for the whole flight and because the air was blowing from the side instead of from the top and I got very cold and ended up with a sore throat.

Bad experience with the delay n long wait time for connecting flight after missing the connection flight from Doha.

Wore experience due to delay and took me 3 days to reach my destination.

All over with Qatar airlines my experience was really bad due to delays and then putting me on different airlines and after 8 hours of wait I had to listen to their is no plane to fly for another 24 hours. Wore experience ever.

Excellent will be flying again in May with Qatar. to Botswana.

Excellent service and comfort from the moment you check in. Flight crew is hyper focused on making passengers comfortable and at ease. It’s like a flying hotel!

Only chicken as a meat dish through out the flight

Nothing really was great as such. Seen other no name airlines perform better.

Quality of service on board was very inconsistent. FA service primarily seemed robotic and they barely engaged with passengers

I’m unclear why I had to pay extra for assigned seats as Turkish airlines did not honor the seating. We were placed across the aisle from each other on TK 34, and were seated behind one another on TK 694. Because my name was misspelled on e-ticket (Klawiter, instead of Klawitter) I could not log onto website to get the connection gate number in Istanbul. The monitors in the airport were a jumbled mess 1/2 Arabic and 1/2 English.

On line check in needs a lot of improvement. I tried and gave up.

Food not good, flight attendants not the best, not accommodating very ruff

the female flight attendant was racist towards me. I could tell she treated the two other passengers next to me with more softness.

Oh my god! For an13 hour flight they serve you food just one time. Also don’t be thirsty they give you a little small cup of soda to drink. They seem like their goal is to feed you one so they don’t have to be bothered with you. It quite surprise for such a long flight there are several times to eat at least three and the food was well lackluster. The food and lack of offering drinks which were always hot no ice provided.

As soon as I boarded, the flight attendant informed me that the screen on my seat is not working (business class), I was a little disappointed because my flight is around 3 hours, then a man approached me asking me to sign a paper that I accept the fact that my seat screen is not working and that I accept to fly despite of that !! and if I don't sign then I may be removed from the plane !! It's a shame, paying $$$$ for the flight and then treated this way.

Do not like the feeling of being in the basic economy. Everyone should feel good no matter what.

All flights were on time and boarding was issue free

Terrible! The plane was old and you are required to connect your own device to their Wi-Fi rather than have entertainment options in the back of the seat in front of you. The Wi-Fi went out during the flight and there was only one plug for the devices every two seats. Three out of five surrounding my family did not work. The seats and spaces under them were so small I could not fit my backpack, which I’ve always brought on flights and fit before no problem. The crew were unpleasant and patronizing.

Great! The plane was decently sized and comfortable. The staff was nice and there was great in flight entertainment

Food was terrible Not many options Stewards dont care Delay

Water service would be great. The way they board is terrible. Slow passengers first😂😂 They need to smart up a bit

Our original business class flight was cancelled so we not only downgraded but we were also spread out across the plane not sitting together in separate middle seats. My poor kids were scared and couldn’t see me on the flight and the crew wasn’t sensitive to the situation and what the airlines did to us. Very dissatisfied with United airlines.

Crew were fine, drinks and snacks were as well but we were delayed for around 2 hrs which made our entry into Mexico delayed as well with the influx of arrivals at the same time. Sort of wasted our first day of vacation. We left Pittsburgh at 630am and did not arrive in Mexico until late dinner time.

The ride was good but no food ot entertainment hence, it was just over an hour flight.

There was a group of school age passengers that were very loud and unruly with their chaperones were no where to be found.

No Wi-Fi 50% of headphones handed out do not work. Otherwise pleasant.

Very nice staff. organized check in and good food. Bit cramped and tired looking plane inside

Was so surprised that for a short flight we were served a sandwich lunch

I didn’t like anything. I fly about 40 times per year and this is by far the worst airline I’ve even been on.

In business class and attendants acted like bothering them when asking for water. Which they didn’t even offer at all during the flight.

Worst flying experience ever. Both kids fell sick from food afterwards. In flight Service was missing. Same food served for all meals and that too stale which made us sick.

I had bad experience, the first flight was delayed for 4 hours & the second flight was delayed for 40 hours!!!!! The staff on the flight from Amman to Detroit are rude . The food was not good at all.

Entertainment content is outdated. Food; I chose the chicken meal with rice, I would like to know the thought process of serving rice and chicken to be eaten with only a fork?! I don't eat spicy food for health reasons, I found out that the rice is very spicy after the first bite, so I didn't eat.

It was operated by Oman Air . So old airplane so dirty and so hot till we were flown We paid a full price for this flight but it’s not acceptable The plane was parked in cargo parking it was very far from the airport

Some entertainment would have been appreciated on a 5 hours+ flight, the aircraft was quite old, even trays kept falling down with each minor turbulence. Meals were also bad.

Not connecting flights. Missed my flight from Dublin to Liverpool because I arrived at Dublin one hour too late. For this mistake, they offered me a flight from Dublin to Manchester. Thats great and all, but I waste time and money to commute to Liverpool. Be sure to check the time of your connecting flights, because they sure don’t when they sell it to you

Excellent! Great flight attendants, good food (in business class, at least), very comfortable. Touchscreen and remote wasn’t great.

In economy and food was ok, but with limited leg space (and I was in a 2 seat configuration) it was difficult to eat with a tiny seat tray. I spilt wine on my trousers. First time on British Air (I usually fly Turkish Air) and in a 777. Heathrow was pleasant but changing terminals awkward.

Starting with the flight Cairo to London the plain was so poor no entertainment at all uncomfortable seats although it’s 5 hours long, then an American airline plain took me from London to Miami it was a bad experience the crew most of flight time not available and they asked us to help our selves for any snacks if we need. From Miami to London actually was perfect flight with a huge plain and perfect crew but from London to Cairo was horrible plain with stiff fixed seats not movable no entertainment or wi fi very poor Menu which is unacceptable for a business class

I've done hundreds of flights in my life, and this flight was one of the best I've ever taken, From beginning to end, everything went smoothly, professionally, and with a smile and friendly attitude from all employees I interacted with. The food was delicious (and free), as were the drinks. There was just a genial and effective way in the way that British Airways organized the flight -that reminded of days in the 70's, 80's, and 90's, when flying was a fun, and exciting adventure. I enjoyed and had confidence in the abilities of the flight crew, I'll be flying British Airways several more times this summer. Thank you so much for the great experience! Cheryl Olso

My baggage did not arrived with me. Took 3 days to get it after so may calls and follow up

Terrible! I missed my flight to my final destination and British airlines and American Airlines keep pointing fingers on each other’s. Nobody wants to take responsibility

Terrible. Flight was 3 hours delayed and I missed my other flight to my final destination

Overall, terrific service, accommodations, and experience. Only reason comfort was rated lower was because it was difficult to keep a comfortable sleeping position for the overnight flight, but I also had an economy seat.

Not sure if the crew were experiencing something unknown to me,but the service of passing water was non-existent.In addition, please take consideration when providing yogurt as alternative for breakfast as some of us, could be lactose intolerant.. thanks

How to Redeem British Airways Avios for Maximum Value

Paul Rubio

Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money .

Avios is a reward currency used by British Airways and one of its sibling airlines, Iberia. Through membership in the Executive Club program , Avios can be redeemed for a number of things, from hotels to car rentals to flight upgrades, and, of course, flight award tickets on both British Airways and partner airlines’ flights.

It’s through the latter where the true power of Avios begins to unfold. Partner airlines provide excellent opportunities to redeem Avios at maximum value. Here's how to get the most out of your Avios.

» Learn more: The guide to earning British Airways Avios

Understand taxes and fees, plus the unofficial award chart

British Airways charges notoriously high taxes and fees for reward tickets through fuel surcharges, especially on its own flights. These taxes and fees are particularly egregious when flying business class. For example, a round-trip reward ticket between Miami and London in business class currently costs 125,000 Avios plus $1,780.31. This type of pricing makes it rarely useful to use Avios directly on British Airways.

On the flip side, British Airways often charges fewer taxes and fees on reward flights through many of its Oneworld alliance partners. You can use your Avios to fly on airlines like American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Royal Air Maroc and Royal Jordanian.

In general, British Airways bases the price of Avios reward tickets on a distance-based award chart rather than a region-based award chart (like American Airlines ) or a dynamic pricing model (like United Airlines ).

Altogether, this means that you can often find reward tickets on shorter routes on partner airlines to redeem Avios for max value. British Airways' prices can be far cheaper than flying via the actual partners’ award programs.

Travel hackers have decoded the award chart based on previous charts (plus trial and error), and it goes as follows:

» Learn more: Award sweet spots using British Airways Avios

Book shorter distance flights in business class

British Airways’ distance-based chart presents numerous opportunities for scoring phenomenal value on shorter distance flights, particularly in business class.

Take, for example, a round-trip flight between Miami and Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, on American Airlines. Booking a business class reward ticket through American Airlines’ AAdvantage program costs 50,000 miles plus $92.55. Yet when booking the same trip using Avios, it costs only 30,000 plus $92.55.

Within Asia, there are also attractive opportunities to redeem Avios on partner airline Cathay Pacific. For example, a one-way business class mileage ticket between Hong Kong and Shanghai costs 16,500 Avios plus $42.58. By comparison, the same flight through American Airlines’ AAdvantage program costs 22,500 miles + $42.58.

Fly between regions in close proximity

Take further advantage of Avios by crossing neighboring geographic regions, which can cost major miles with other programs.

For example, a flight between Tunis, Tunisia, and Amman, Jordan, would be classified as an Africa to Middle East flight with American Airlines’ AAdvantage program. A round-trip ticket between these destinations costs 60,000 miles plus $98.20 in economy or 110,000 miles plus $98.20 in business.

However, when cross-checking this flight on British Airways' website, the same ticket will cost you just 22,000 Avios plus $293.33 in economy and 44,000 Avios plus $293.33 in business.

While the taxes are higher using Avios, the mileage savings compared to booking through AAdvantage are significant. On British Airways, you’re using 63% less in economy and 60% less in business. Results will vary by individual flight, but it is always smart to at least check the Avios cost compared to the partner award cost when crossing regions.

Compare pricing between British Airways and Iberia, and transfer if needed

British Airways and Iberia might have the same parent company and frequent flyer reward currency, Avios, but their reward flight opportunities are unique in terms of mileage and taxes. To that end, it’s worth checking award ticket pricing on both websites to compare and calculate which flight can give you the most value.

Thankfully, transferring Avios between British Airways and Iberia is easy. You first need to set up Avios accounts with each airline directly. Be sure that your name, address and email match exactly in the personal profile of each account. Once you have greater than a zero balance in each account, you can link them and initiate immediate transfers between the two.

Log in to your British Airways Executive Club account and click “Manage My Account” on the left-hand side. Then navigate to “Combine my Avios” in the dropdown menu. Click “Combine,” enter the account number of your Iberia Plus account and enter the number of Avios you’d like to transfer. You can then book with ease and redeem Avios on either website.

The bottom line

Avios are a powerful award currency and can go far — if used right. In general, don't bother using Avios for long-haul flights or for flights directly on British Airways.

Redeem Avios for short- or medium-distance flights in business class on partner airlines and between proximate geographic regions, if you can. Always do a second search on the award booking engine of its sibling airline, Iberia, to see if you are getting the best deal within the Avios family.

Top airlines flying from Bristol to Jordan

Horrible flight attendant in back of economy that screamed at me, have already reported to United. Horrible food - for Gluten free, why would you assume the person is vegetarian? I was served some kind of horrible curry bean paste and multiple cold rolls and soggy vegetables with no seasoning... um no!

I was at the airport on time , I checked in my luggage . The plane was delayed and the gate was change. The flight board did not give information . I did not get chance to fly. I am going to make a claim for it

Never flown with LH before so all in all wasba good experience. Also good to know that approx 24hrs prior the flight opens up for being able to organise the seating free.

It was a short flight, no real service (which is okay). Very bumpy because of weather.

Always a pleasure to deal with United's helpful and knowledgeable staff

I'm Canaadian. I hate Air Canada. I used to give them a pass on their international service. No longer, They suck across the board now! Old planes, exhausted staff bad food and shitty entertainment. Your seats need reupholstered! Start with that...

Good experience. Food was great and passengers helped rearrange seats so our family could be seated together

Great flight. Left on time, not very crowded. Quiet and the right temperature.

No eye patches , socks given out for overnight flight! The snack on the short haul was a cube of chocolate! The seat was uncomfortable for a long haul - not enough cushioning!

I paid a lot of money for seat selection and was miserable for flight duration

I got denied boarding bevause they said they "ran out of seats on a plane"

Speakers were blaring. It's like being in a Moroccan market and you keep getting shouted at with what's for sale

What can you say Ryanair get you there,no frills Not so cheap anymore ..... but what is now days! Would use again as always. Good flight times for us.

Very unpleasant staff, disgusting service, ignoring requests, refusal to help

Late again rude staff at gate bullying passengers made us stand in the cold 3degrees for 40 mins before they let us board

The usual average Ryanair flight, but we landed 20 min before due time, which was very good.

Enjoyed our flight with Ryanair to Arrecife. Flight boarded pretty much on time, crew were welcoming and very good. Generally good for a frequent low cost flight, Seats could however have been more comfortable.

I wouldn't like to fly with them anymore, I don't like their service, you can hardly take carry-on luggage because they charge you for everything, you can't ask for a glass of water, and the flight attendant tells you that they don't have any, that you have to Paying 3 euros for a bottle of water horrible, I don't recommend it, and they don't have anything low cost, because the plane ticket may not be expensive but what they charge you later for the rest, the flight becomes more expensive, it's the only airline that I don't like it so far, and I traveled a lot.

The steward acted impolitely to one of the passengers. Rayanair has to solve the issue of accompanied luggage. It is not logical or fair that someone sitting in the front seats(and he paid for that seat) to store his case in the backseat because a passenger in the backseat stored his luggage in the front !!

Staff were friendly and flight was on time. Free drink and snacks would have been appreciated.

While Bordeaux isn’t known for being especially cheap, you’ll find greater value for money here than in Paris or the French Riviera. With a huge range of wine bars and restaurants on offer, there’s something to match every budget.

You can save by shopping at the local food markets and heading to one of the local parks, like the popular Jardin Public, for a picnic. There’s also free entry to many of the city’s museums if you happen to be visiting on the first Sunday of the month.

It’s easy to get from Bordeaux’s airport to the city centre. There’s an airport shuttle bus, leaving from the terminal building and arriving at Bordeaux Gare Saint Jean railway station in just 30 minutes. You can also hop on a tram from outside the airport. For something a little different, head over the river to Darwin in the Bastide district. Visitors flock to this former army barracks for its buzzy atmosphere and cool, industrial edge. Here you can go for a stroll to see the colourful street art, watch the skaters, shop at France’s largest organic shop and stop for a beer in the local brewery.

The best ways to redeem British Airways Avios

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

British Airways is the largest full-service airline in the United Kingdom and flies to more destinations in the United States than any other European carrier.

The airline’s loyalty program is called Executive Club , with Avios as its currency. With a substantial U.S. route network, excellent airline partners and a loyalty currency that is easy to earn and redeem, this program should be on your radar, even if you aren’t traveling to the U.K. Unlike the major U.S. loyalty programs, Executive Club does not use dynamic pricing , though there are discounts for off-peak travel dates. Provided there is availability, you will always know what you will need to pay with no nasty surprises or 300,000-point flight redemptions.

Here are the best ways to redeem British Airways Avios.

Related: 5 reasons why you should care about British Airways Avios

Short-haul awards

Short-haul tickets are arguably the best British Airways Avios redemptions. They start at just 4,750 Avios plus 17.50 British pounds (about $22) for an off-peak award flight 650 miles or less in distance operated by British Airways. One example would be a flight between London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS).

Since British Airways has a distance-based award chart and American Airlines and Alaska Airlines are Oneworld partners , you can use Avios to book any American or Alaska flight with saver-level award availability.

Partner awards, including those operated by Cathay Pacific and Japan Airlines, start at 6,000 Avios but exclude flights within North America. Meanwhile, partner flights in North America start at 7,500 Avios for flights 650 miles or less and get more expensive for longer flights.

Booking short-haul flights with British Airways can be a great deal, even if you’re booking flights in North America on American or Alaska. A flight from New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD) clocks in at 733 miles, meaning you need 9,000 Avios one-way in economy class. This is often cheaper than you’ll pay to book the same flight with American’s AAdvantage program.

Thanks to the British Airways Reward Flight Saver offer , Executive Club members also have the option to choose to pay more Avios to reduce the (already reasonable) fees and taxes, down to just 62 cents per flight.

Island-hop through the Caribbean

You can use Avios to fly American Airlines to the Caribbean, starting from just 7,500 Avios each way, as mentioned above. But here is a neat trick to experiencing more of the Caribbean once you are there.

While flights between islands in this region can be expensive, British Airways operates several fifth-freedom routes where, for example, a BA flight originating in London will fly from Antigua’s V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU) to St Kitt’s Robert L. Bradshaw Airport (SKB) several times per week.

You can book just the short hop between the islands, and British Airways prices these short flights in the same way as its European short-haul flights. Using the Reward Flight Saver offer , redemptions start from just 4,750 Avios each way plus 17.50 British pounds (about $22) on off-peak dates. Award availability is usually outstanding on these fifth-freedom flights as many passengers disembark at the first stop, leaving plenty of empty seats for the second, short leg.

If you can’t decide between two islands in this beautiful part of the world, consider using Avios to cheaply hop between both.

Domestic business class on American

Though American Airlines names its domestic premium-class cabin “first class,” you can redeem Avios for this product at business-level rates.

The real kicker is that American Airlines regularly flies internationally configured wide-body aircraft on domestic routes , including 777s and 787s. For example, AA’s flagship 777-300ER operates some flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Miami International Airport (MIA), a 1,089-mile journey. You could book a business-class award on this flight for only 16,500 Avios, which is a great deal.

West Coast to Hawaii

Since we’re on the subject of American Airlines, another sweet spot you’ll find with Avios is the ability to fly from major West Coast cities to the Hawaiian Islands for just 13,000 Avios each way, thanks to the Avios distance-based chart. That beats the award rate for all the U.S. airlines, and there’s no close-in booking fee either.

But in this case, it’s not just about American’s route network. Alaska Airlines is also a British Airways partner, which means you have access to Alaska’s flights to Hawaii, though you’ll need to call to book Alaska flights with Avios since they aren’t searchable on ba.com. That opens up routes that AA doesn’t serve but Alaska does, such as Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) to Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Maui’s Kahului Airport (OGG).

So if you live almost anywhere on the West Coast — or can easily position there — Avios can be your friend to Hawaii.

Aer Lingus at off-peak prices

If you can travel during off-peak dates — which cover roughly eight months of the year — you can fly to Dublin from a handful of U.S. cities, including as far west as Chicago. This award will set you back just 26,000 Avios round-trip in economy or as low as 50,000 one-way in business class .

And suppose you live in the South in a city like Orlando or Miami, or the West in Los Angeles or San Francisco. In that case, the price only increases to 32,500 Avios round-trip in economy and 62,500 one-way in business, which is still a great deal considering how long these flights are.

You also won’t be charged fuel surcharges when redeeming British Airways Avios for Aer Lingus flights.

How to earn Avios

Avios branded credit cards.

The easiest way to earn a meaningful number of Avios for everyday spending is by applying for the  British Airways Visa Signature Card .

This card offers new applicants 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening. TPG values Avios at 1.5 cents each , making the full bonus worth $1,125. The  British Airways Visa Signature has a $95 annual fee and earns 3 Avios per dollar spent on purchases with British Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Level. Plus, you can earn 2 Avios per dollar spent on hotel accommodations booked directly with the hotel. All other purchases earn 1 Avios per dollar spent.

Remember that Avios can easily be transferred at a 1:1 rate between the different programs that use this currency. So you might also want to consider the  Aer Lingus Visa Signature Card or the Iberia Visa Signature Card, which offer the same 75,000-Avios welcome bonus, generous earning rates and low annual fee.

The following cards all currently offer strong welcome bonuses that you could easily convert to Avios:

  • The Business Platinum Card® from American Express : Earn 120,000 bonus points after you spend $15,000 on purchases on the card in the first three months of card membership.
  • The Platinum Card® from American Express: Earn 80,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $6,000 on purchases within the first six months of card membership. Check to see if you’re targeted for a 125,000-point welcome offer through CardMatch  (offer subject to change at any time). Terms apply.
  • American Express® Gold Card: Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first six months of account opening. Terms apply.
  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card : Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
  • Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card : Earn 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.
  • Ink Business Preferred Credit Card: Earn 100,000 bonus points after you spend $15,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred Card : Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
  • Citi Premier® Card: Earn 60,000 bonus points after spending $4,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening (see rates and fees).

Bottom line

You might be wondering why we didn’t mention using Avios for transatlantic flights on British Airways or non-flight redemptions such as hotels and cars. Since British Airways insists on tacking huge surcharges onto its award tickets , using Avios for transatlantic flights on the carrier itself usually doesn’t make much sense. And the value you’ll get from burning Avios on hotels or car rentals often isn’t worth the cash you’re saving in the first place.

But now that you know the best uses, you can get terrific value from your Avios regardless of whether you prefer economy or premium class or take international or domestic flights. Just remember the hows and whens so you can use your Avios wisely.
