Visit These Weed-Friendly Outdoor Destinations in Michigan

cannabis tours michigan

Some things just go better together. After months of staring at dismal gray skies, many of us are more than ready to get outside and enjoy some green — in all its various forms. This is the premise inspiring two companies to cater to nature lovers who want to learn about and experience weed in the great outdoors.

Whether you’re planning a quick escape or looking to go full bore on a 4/20 celebration , here are a few ideas for your next high-minded outing.

The Inside Track

cannabis tours michigan

Dunegrass Co. , a medical and recreational cannabis retailer with stores in Beulah, Big Rapids, Cadillac, Gaylord, Manistee, and Marquette, distinguishes itself by offering guidance to people who want to explore some of Michigan’s many spectacular spots or what Dunegrass refers to as “a higher latitude.”

“We see ourselves as northern Michigan’s cannabis outfitter,” says Rebecca Herd, marketing coordinator at Dunegrass. “We offer the products that you find in a dispensary, but we also help you find your Up North adventure.”

Consuming cannabis in public places and smoking where prohibited are still illegal in Michigan. (It’s up to individual property owners whether consumption is allowed in a rented space.) Dunegrass directs travelers to weed-friendly lodging around each of its six provisioning centers.

“We’re in a recreational state, and we help guide those in a responsible manner to visit these places,” Herd says.

Dunegrass also taps its staff for ideas on where to go and what to do. “We realize you’re making your trip north for a reason, so allow us to show you the cool places to hike rather than just the typical, run-of- the-mill areas.”

According to Herd, Marquette and Cadillac have been the two most asked-about areas — Cadillac because it’s a place where people can “take a break from driving,” and Marquette for the “majestic-ness of Lake Superior and the Black Rocks.” Indeed, Dunegrass’ Marquette location is a mere 11-minute drive from Presque Isle Park , where the Black Rocks formation is found.

For more information, call or stop by one of Dunegrass’ dispensaries, send a direct message through social media, or visit dunegrass.co .

Green Acres

There are typically two types of people touring Grasshopper Farms in Paw Paw: enthusiasts excited to see what an outdoor cannabis grow looks like, and the nosy-neighbor types who want a peek over the fence. But the beautiful thing, according to Grasshopper CEO Will Bowden, is that both walk away with the same sentiment.

“They all say, ‘Wow, it’s a farm,’” he says. “And they always comment on how amazing their interactions with the team were. They find a very welcoming and very knowledgeable environment.”

A single-season outdoor grow operation, Grasshopper Farms sits on roughly 160 acres and cultivates more than 4,500 sun-grown plants from 30 different strains. Farm tours take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (They sometimes host people traveling from out of town after hours and on the weekends.)

“We always recommend visiting during August and September, which is the best time to see the plants outside,” Bowden says. Tours are open to everyone and are currently free of charge. Bowden describes Grasshopper as an educational experience: “We walk [visitors] around; we show them processes. The only things we don’t do right now are sell product on property and taste product on property.”

There are plans for Grasshopper to provide another kind of experience in the future.

“Maybe someday we will have a retail license but not for the purpose of having a provisioning center,” Bowden says. “More for the vineyard tour experience, so when you’re leaving the property, you can buy a hat, buy a shirt, buy some flower.”

Go On a Michigan Weed Adventure!

Go On a Michigan Weed Adventure!

Layne Alfred | June 15, 2022

Spontaneous roadtrips and staycations are a great way to celebrate the start of summer because there’s no need to plan too far in advance. Our favorite end-of-the-summer getaway? Cannabis-friendly spots where you can chill out wherever and whenever you want. As a Detroit-headquartered company, we thought we’d highlight some of the best destinations in Michigan-- that are also a perfect pairing for a doobie or two.

1. The Copper House, Detroit

Photo credit: CopperHouseDetroit.com; 7 young black women are gathered together on the front steps of the Copper House. They are all dressed in black and smiling, chatting and laughing with each other. The house is brick with a copper awning over the front window.

The Copper House is a cannabis-friendly AirBnB, inside and outside. It’s located on Detroit’s Northwest side, so whether you’re looking to go out on the town in downtown Detroit or venture to the cute and quaint shops of Ferndale, you won’t have to go far from the Copper House. The entire space is designed to give a welcoming and homey vibe, with rustic touches and a zen backyard complete with a cozy campfire. Plus, the hosts will arrange for massages, meditation, sound therapy, and more depending on what your group is looking for.

Bring any cannabis products your heart desires, and make sure you have all the equipment you may want. The Slugger  is perfect for bringing an entire dab kit with you as it secures all the fragile pieces in silicone. Once you’re at the Copper House, you can start preparing the perfect dab, knowing everything in the kit will still be in tact after the car ride.

2. Hot Box Social, Hazel Park

A view of the Hot Box room at the Hot Box Social Consumption Lounge in Hazel Park, MI.

Hot Box Social   is Michigan's very first licensed consumption lounge! If you have a birthday bash or another celebration to throw this summer, this is a great venue option. It's a unique set up where you place an order from Breeze Dispensary right down the street, and have it delivered to enjoy on-site at Hot Box. You can even bring your own   pieces   to smoke it with!

While they are currently only open for private events, they have plans to open to the public on a regular basis in the near future. Hit up their   Instagram page   for more updates and announcements about events.

3. Pyramid Point Trail, Maple City

A view from the highest point of Pyramid Point Trail in the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Maple City, Michigan.

For one of the most gorgeous views in Michigan’s lower peninsula, take a drive to the northwest side near Sleep Bear Dunes. There, you’ll find a gorgeous nature trail called Pyramid Point that leads you up to a breathtaking, almost bird’s eye, view of Lake Michigan. The hike to get to the highest point is only about half a mile, so you don’t need to be in the mood for an intense workout to enjoy the view.

Bring your Quad battery with you to really enhance the views. It turns off automatically after 12 seconds, so it’s great for when you’re taking longer breaks between puffs. Plus, you’ll know it will still be charged up for the drive home!

4. Belle Isle Park, Detroit

An aerial view of Belle Isle Park in Detroit, MI from the tip of the island.

If you’re not from Michigan, I bet you didn’t know there was a huge and beautiful island located on the Detroit River. Belle Isle Park is a perfect daytrip for Michiganders or staycation for Detroit-dwellers. There you’ll find beautiful gardens, museums and even an aquarium. Bring a picnic and your piece for a relaxing day in front of the Detroit skyline!

5. Wacky Weed Tours, Ann Arbor

A woman in all yellow is smiling in the lower right corner. She is on State Street in Ann Arbor and the top of the photo says

My nerdy, history buff potheads—Ann Arbor’s Wacky Weed Tour is for you! Not only will you get major discounts and swag at local dispensaries, you’ll get interesting history about everything related to cannabis. Plus, you’ll get to see the beautiful and historic downtown Ann Arbor!

To make sure your loud bud stays discreet on the roadtrip, beach or trails, consider a smell-proof bag. For a one-and-done packing session (in luggage, that is), use a carbon-lined backpack with tons of compartments for pieces. Or opt for a smell-proof toiletry kit reserved for your herbs and one-hitter.

Regardless of where you’re headed for your end-of-summer getaway, stay lifted with the help of Ooze. Check out all our on-the-go products so you can travel with confidence.

New ‘cannabus’ tour explores Ann Arbor’s dispensaries, marijuana history

Cannabus tour guides guests through Ann Arbor's marijuana history

ANN ARBOR, MI -- A new “cannabus” tour is providing an opportunity to explore Ann Arbor’s history and dispensaries through a marijuana tour of the city.

MaryJane Tours , which launched on July 11, is a bus tour of the marijuana industry in Ann Arbor. During the tour, participants visit a growing house and a dispensary, as well as learn about how the industry has changed in the city and its ties to social activism.

The tour is a partnership between Bus A Move , a party bus company owned in part by Anthony Richmond, and Farm Assist Wellness , a farm-to-table-style nursery that provides cannabis plants for people to grow at home.

The tour starts at Apothecare, where tour participants learn about different products and receive swag bags with a variety of products, including CBD and vaping paraphernalia, as well as dispensary coupons.

After boarding the MaryJane Tour bus, the group then goes to the University of Michigan’s Diag for a discussion about the history of the marijuana industry in Ann Arbor.

Anthony Freed, owner of Farm Assist Wellness and co-creator of MaryJane Tours, said he talks about Hash Bash and John Sinclair, an activist who best known for being sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing two joints. He spent just two years in prison — from 1969 to 1971 — after his sentence was overturned by the Michigan Supreme Court.

“I explain how the Hash Bash is actually a protest,” said Freed, adding that a student group from the university requests a permit for the event each year. “…It’s kind of a solemn moment because it reminds people how lucky we are to be standing there on a cannabis tour [without repercussion].”

Teaching people about the history of marijuana activism is an important part of the tour, Freed said.

“I just use it as a moment to let people know there’s still a fight left to be had,” he said.

The group also stops at 42 Degrees — an “amazing pipe shop” with handmade pipes, Freed said — and Oz Cannabis, a dispensary with locations in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti.

Although MaryJane Tours has only run two tours so far, Freed said participants were a mix of people new to cannabis and experienced users.

Each tour runs roughly two hours. Tickets cost $30 for a standard ticket and $50 for a premium ticket, which comes with additional discounts for Apothecare products.

Freed said the tours are about more than just marijuana.

“I’m not just teaching the history of cannabis,” Freed said. “I’m promoting Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti as a destination.”

Although it just launched, MaryJane Tours has plans to expand, Freed said, adding the company wants to eventually buy a double-decker bus.

“I think it’s a story that needs to be told,” Freed said.

Traveling and Cannabis Tourism in Michigan

When it comes to cannabis tourism, no trip is compete without a sunset over take Michigan with a bit of orange sky, sand dunes and bare trees near the beach

Michigan is a four-season travel state, and a fair number of people who travel here take advantage of legal recreational cannabis or Michigan’s reciprocal medical marijuana program. As a result, we’re seeing cannabis tourism growing here.  Michigan welcomes the cannabis curious from nearby prohibition states like Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin and everyone who travels here to enjoy all that Michigan offers—including legal weed.

Cannabis tourism is a growing area for many communities in Michigan. Cities, villages, or townships that have opted in for recreational cannabis have the opportunity to promote them, but few do. Michigan has around 700 marijuana dispensaries in operation scattered throughout the state. And while you can’t buy legal recreational cannabis in Michigan’s largest city, Detroit (it’s medical only), you’ll find an abundance of provisioning stores in other tourist hotspots. Places up and down Michigan’s Lake Michigan coastline from Benton Harbor near the state line with Indiana to Muskegon have a variety of cannabis stores. In addition, you’ll find cannabis available in Bay City over in the Thumb region and in Up North places like Cadillac and Marquette and Houghton in the UP near Wisconsin.

cannabis tourism is helped by Michigan's two cross lake ferries from Wisconsin. This photo taken from the Lake Express ferry shows the red lighthouse at the Muskegon harbor.

What proves to be perplexing for cannabis tourists or tourists who want cannabis is finding a place to consume and what to do with the cannabis you don’t consume while in the Mitten State.

Here’s a little list of where you can’t consume cannabis in Michigan. Some of it is Michigan law, and some are the preference of property owners.

  • In your car or driving or sitting in a vehicle on any Michigan roadway.
  • In a boat on a Michigan waterway
  • Out in public where anyone can see you smoking
  • On private property where cannabis is expressly prohibited
  • In most hotel/motel rooms or on hotel property
  • Around the campfire at the Michigan State Park or on a state park beach or trail

cannabis tourism in Michigan is one the rise and this image shows a red kayak in blue water and the shore of Lake Michigan

It truly crimps your options, doesn’t it? Until more properties (hotels, motels and resorts) allow cannabis consumption, travelers will be challenged to find a place to consume. We wondered why this was the case.

“We have yet to see a community fully embrace cannabis; it’s still often held at arm’s length,” Andrew McFarlane from Michigan Cannabis Trail and Michigo said.

This disconnect is apparent where Michigan’s cannabis stores are most densely located and how they’re not embraced or even recognized by local visitor’s bureaus and Chamber of Commerce entities.

You’d think Ann Arbor, Michigan’s historical epicenter of marijuana, would embrace the plant and stores in its geographical area—but that’s not the case. Unfortunately, it’s difficult for established organizations to change and adopt a formerly illegal substance.

“There are certainly a large group of people who still think that cannabis is a bad thing—and until they’re no longer in leadership positions, we’ll always have roadblocks,” Andrew said.

There’s no legal or ethical reason that a visitor’s bureau can’t list a cannabis business as a traveler’s destination. It’s a matter of will and desire.

Andrew also pointed out that the Visitor’s Bureau in Modesto, California, has its Motown CannaPass that people can register for, which unlocks information and cannabis-friendly businesses in the community. “It’s normalizing the cannabis experience and promoting community businesses—which they should be doing,” he said.

He noted that at least seven licenses are in progress for cannabis consumption lounges in the state. However, none have opened as of early 2022. These lounges are bound to be a focal point for

For people traveling in Michigan who are looking for options when it comes to a consumption space, you’ll have to look carefully and plan accordingly. Finding a place to stay that is cool with cannabis is the first step—Michigan Cannabis Trail and Bud and Breakfast websites offer some options.

cannabis tourism in Michigan involves the out of doors like this wooded trail with white birch trees and green pines.

Here’s something we found interesting—you can consume in a Michigan State Park, but not in public (see the campfire note above). So you can consume cannabis in your tent or camper. Of course, it’s not as cool as sitting around the fire or walking on the beach, but it’s something.

If you’re in town for the annual Hash Bash in Ann Arbor on the first Saturday in April—that’s a fun spot to light up. In addition, organized cannabis events are popping up across Michigan. These licensed events allow consumption and have sales in the same place—usually with live music and other cannabis-centric activities. Expect to find them throughout the summer of 2022.

As you travel in Michigan, be discrete where you fire up, and you’ll be fine.

Tours of Michigan cannabis companies reveal inner workings of marijuana business

A growing number of recreational marijuana businesses in Michigan, from outdoor cannabis farms to microbusinesses, are providing tours to interested consumers that show them how cannabis plants are grown, harvested and processed.

The openness is a notable shift for a still relatively new legal industry in Michigan in which many marijuana businesses are located in remote areas and farms are hidden behind privacy fences.

The marijuana industry "has been carved out of the public view and we felt that in order to end the stigma, that all needs to be brought to light so people can see that this is a serious business," Karen Kekelik, co-owner of the microbusiness IndiGrow in Muskegon.

Kekelik is referring to the stigma that stems from the War on Drugs — a U.S. government-led initiative in the 1970s that aimed to stop illegal drug use — that led to many people believing cannabis is bad, dirty and unprofessional, she said.

Kekelik and her husband, Steven, who also co-owns the business, started offering tours earlier this year, just a few months after opening. The idea to offer tours came organically, as education was a big part of the couple's goal for the business from the beginning because they wanted to show the cleanliness and professionalism required to be a successful cannabis business.

They do this by outfitting guests with personal protective equipment such as hairnets and shoe covers. Attendees then go through an air shower, which blows air on them to clear them of any contaminants. They then follow the life cycle of the cannabis plant, visiting the vegetative room to see the plants in the early stages of growth and then moving to the flower rooms to see the buds and the flowering plants. From there, they go to the trimming, drying and curing rooms, and end in the processing lab, where attendees see all the different extraction methods, which remove the oil found in the plants that contain the most potent compounds to then be used in products like edibles and tinctures.

Karen and Steven Kekelik have seen firsthand how education can change a person's perspective on cannabis. Karen's father, a doctor, associated cannabis with other illegal drugs and tobacco. After Karen suffered an injury that cannabis helped her recover from, she said, her father started researching the plant.

He went on to be an advocate, talking with both doctors and patients about how cannabis can be used as an alternative to opioids and is involved in IndiGrow, Karen Kekelik said.

“You get to see the lightbulb change when someone sees the possibilities of cannabis as a medicine and an alternative to alcohol," Steven Kekelik said. "We wanted to bring that to anyone who wanted to learn and experience that. That's very hard to do currently.”

Demystifying cannabis facilities

There are a few cannabis companies in Michigan that offer the public a behind-the-scenes look at their operations.

Cannabis companies operate under strict regulations and many precautions are taken so the plant remains free of outside contaminants. Because of this, anyone who is around the plant usually wears protective suits and hairnets when in an indoor grow room. There's also the risk that comes with operators inadvertently sharing proprietary information that competitors could steal.

Will Bowden, founder and CEO of Grasshopper Farms , an outdoor cannabis farm in southwest Michigan, said that's a risk worth taking.

After Bowden bought the 160-acre farm and started growing marijuana plants on 40 of those acres in 2020, he said it was important for him to invite local government officials and neighbors of the farm so they could see the farm for themselves.

"If you really want to demystify something, then open your door and show what's going on," he said. Tours are "the best and most effective way for us to do that."

Inspired by the reaction he got after offering tours to local officials and neighbors, Bowden told his team that he was going to allow anyone to sign up for a free tour on the company's website, and if someone just showed up, he told his team to do everything they could to accommodate that person.

His instructions were: "Introduce yourself, introduce the team, show them what we do and show them how we do it," he said. "Do not change minds and do not debate the topic" of marijuana.

Bowden includes that "do not debate" instruction because he has seen visitors get out of their car and walk over with their hands crossed over their chest, ready for a debate. By the end of the tour, he said, they often leave feeling at least OK about what's happening at Grasshopper Farms.

Replicating the vineyard model

There's also a financial incentive for cannabis business operators to offer tours. While Bowden offers tours free of charge, open house events at the farm and the tours are aimed in part at retailers who will hopefully choose to sell Grasshopper Farms products in their stores .

Bowden said he's not doing anything revolutionary with his tours, and gives as an example wine companies that invite restaurant staff out to their vineyards or wineries to taste its wine.

"What do they do?," Bowden said. "They go back and they talk about it in their restaurant. 'Oh, this is a fantastic vineyard. You should try this.' In this case, it's like, let's have the budtenders come out and take a look at the farm and meet the local team to see whose story they are representing."

He plans on taking the experience a step further by opening an education center on the property in the next few years that will have a deck offering a view of the farm and by potentially turning two houses on the property into Airbnbs offering guests a "cannabis experience."

Tours are also a way to make money

IndiGrow, meanwhile, charges $100 for an hour tour that's limited to five people and that comes with all necessary personal protective equipment, a Q&A session, five pre-rolled joints and a T-shirt.

Steven Kekelik said the tours help them financially in two ways: It allows them to diversify their income streams at a time when the cannabis market in Michigan is especially competitive, with  the average price of marijuana flower dropping 20% compared with prices a year ago, according to the most recent data available from Michigan's Cannabis Regulatory Agency ,  causing margins to narrow .

"The tour revenue really just allows a mom-and-pop business to be successful," Steven Kekelik said.

It also leads to more product sales, he said, because tour attendees are able to see how the product is made and why IndiGrow employees do what they do, comparing the feeling to a visit to a local farmers' market.

Both the Kekeliks and Bowden said they've had visitors come from other states, such as Ohio, Illinois and Indiana, to take a tour, and Bowden said someone even came from out of the country to see Grasshopper Farms. They don't see interest slowing down anytime soon and generally are getting great feedback from attendees.

After one IndiGrow attendee got the chance to see the cannabis plants up close, Steven Kekelik received his favorite feedback so far: "The buds were frickin' huge!"

Marijuana Buying Guide for Michigan Tourists

cannabis tours michigan

February 07, 2023

Michigan residents were thrilled when recreational marijuana was legalized in the state, and naturally, it also drew the attention and excitement of some of our neighbors who are interested in experiencing marijuana but can’t get it at home. This interest grew into a cannabis tourism industry in Michigan—one you can benefit from as long as you know what you’re allowed to do and what you aren’t.

Buying Marijuana in Michigan

So you’re headed to the Mitten, and you’re wondering if you can buy marijuana as an out-of-state visitor. The short answer? Yes, of course. The long answer? Yes, of course—just take the time to learn the rules of the state before you get in the car or board the plane. It will make your experience so much easier, faster, and more pleasant, allowing you to get your green and get back to your vacation. If you’re considering a trip here, we conveniently have all the answers to your Michigan cannabis tourism questions right here:

Can I Buy Marijuana in Michigan if I’m From Out of State?

Yes, out-of-state visitors can buy marijuana in Michigan as long as you’re 21 or older, and you have a valid, state-issued photo ID. Michigan doesn’t differentiate between residents and non-residents, but if you’re traveling from out of state to Michigan, just make sure you finish consuming your cannabis (or dispose of your leftovers) before you travel home. It’s illegal to carry marijuana across state lines—so make sure you get rid of it.

Where Can I Buy Recreational Marijuana in Michigan?

Recreational marijuana can be purchased throughout Michigan in licensed retail locations. While you can do a quick Google search to find a dispensary near where you’re staying, you can also visit the state registry to see all licensed retailers in Michigan. With more and more dispensaries opening up throughout the Mitten State, you’ll likely have no trouble finding a dispensary within easy driving distance if you’re outside of a city, and you’ll have a plethora of options within a city.

How Much Cannabis Can I Buy in Michigan?

In Michigan, the cannabis purchase limits allow you to purchase up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana at time, including 15 grams or less of concentrate. If you prefer edibles and you’re trying to figure out how many you’re allowed to buy while you’re here, we’ll make it easy for you—Michigan counts 16 ounces of edibles as one ounce of marijuana. Residents can also possess up to 10 ounces in their home and grow up to 12 plants for their own personal use, provided the plants are hidden from public view.

If you’re buying marijuana in Michigan, don’t let yourself be tempted to buy too much. Because you can’t take it across state lines, any extra cannabis is just going to get thrown out—and no one wants to waste marijuana. Besides, you can always head back to the dispensary if you need more.

What Forms of Payment are Accepted at Dispensaries in Michigan?

The safest way to ensure you are able to purchase your marijuana hassle-free is to bring cash along with you. That said, most dispensaries have an ATM inside, and some dispensaries allow debit card purchases with additional fees applied.

What Type of ID Do I Need to Show at a Dispensary in Michigan?

Michigan dispensaries require either a valid state ID or a driver’s license. Your ID needs to show that you are 21 or older and legally able to purchase cannabis in the state. If you don’t have a valid ID, or you forgot it, you won’t even be allowed inside, so be sure you tuck it in your wallet or pocket before you head to the dispensary.

Can I Order Cannabis for Delivery in Michigan?

As of January 2023, no. While medical marijuana dispensaries have petitioned for approval from the Marijuana Regulatory Agency, home delivery is still not allowed. Recreational marijuana would require its own process, petitions, and final approvals.

If you’re looking for the next best option, most dispensaries offer online shopping. You make your product selections, set a pick up time, and drive over and pay for your purchase. Some budtenders will even bring it right out to you.

Cannabis Tourism in Michigan

Michigan dispensaries welcome you as long as you meet the age requirements and have a valid ID. Once you’ve made your purchase, you can enjoy your marijuana in private locations or in specially designated marijuana consumption spots. As long as you know the rules and follow them, you’re sure to have a good time with plenty of cannabis to enjoy.

Please consume responsibly. This product may cause impairment and may be habit forming. There may be health risks associated with consumption of this product.  State laws impact what dispensaries can and can’t sell to recreational customers and medical marijuana patients. Not every type of product, consumption method, dosage form, or potency mentioned on this blog will be permitted in all locations.

Welcome mat in front of a door

You're sitting in a circle with friends, passing around a cannabis flower joint, but wait—is there a right way to do this? Welcome to the world of cannabis etiquette, where the unspoken rules of smoking marijuana can make or break your smoking experience. Let's delve into what cannabis etiquette is all about and why it's more than just "puff puff pass."

What is Cannabis Etiquette?

Cannabis etiquette encompasses the unwritten rules and social norms that govern the consumption and sharing of cannabis. It's about respect, consideration, and ensuring that everyone in the smoking circle has an enjoyable experience. Whether you're a seasoned smoker or a newbie, understanding these etiquettes can elevate your cannabis sessions to a whole new level.

Marijuana Etiquette 101

If you’ve been invited to or included in a smoke session with friends, chances are good that everyone knows you’re a chill person, so don’t stress too much. At the end of the day, not knowing all the details isn’t going to get you kicked out, especially if you approach the session like any good person would. Still, you don’t want to go into it without a clue, and that’s where knowing the rules for marijuana etiquette can really help:

Be Welcoming

When inviting others to join your smoke session, make them feel welcome and comfortable. Offer hospitality and create a warm, inclusive atmosphere. That said, nobody likes feeling pressured, especially when it comes to consuming cannabis. Respect everyone's boundaries and never force anyone to partake if they're not interested.

Don’t Pressure Anyone

This goes for all things in life—if someone isn’t interested in trying something, don’t pressure or force them. Blowing smoke in someone’s face might seem funny at the time, but it can quickly turn a session sour and get you uninvited to any future events.

Sharing is Caring

Sharing is a fundamental aspect of cannabis culture. If you're part of a group smoke session, contribute something to the mix—whether it's cannabis, snacks, or even good vibes.

Be Transparent

Honesty is key when it comes to sharing cannabis. If you’re leading the session, always inform your fellow cannabis enthusiasts about what strain they're smoking or the edibles they’re eating. Transparency builds trust and ensures that everyone knows what they're getting into. If you’re joining the session, make sure you ask questions if you’re concerned a strain might not be right for you.

Respect Roller’s Rights

If someone takes the time to roll a joint or pack a bowl, show respect for their effort. Avoid criticizing their rolling skills or messing with the joint without permission. The person who rolls the joint should always be the first one to spark it. Always.

Puff, Puff, Pass

The age-old mantra of "puff, puff, pass" is a golden rule in cannabis circles. Take two hits before passing the joint to the next person on your left to ensure everyone gets a fair share. Keep the rotation flowing smoothly to maintain a harmonious smoking experience for all.

Keep It Clean

There are two ways to keep a session clean: don’t smoke when you’re sick, and respect the smoking environment by keeping it clean and tidy. Cleanliness contributes to a pleasant atmosphere and shows consideration for your surroundings and the people in it.

Light the Right Way

When lighting a bowl, " cornering " the bowl—only lighting a portion of the cannabis—allows everyone to enjoy fresh greens. Avoid "canoeing," where one side of the bowl burns faster than the other, resulting in uneven hits.

Respect the Space

Whether you're smoking indoors or outdoors, respect the space and property of others. Avoid smoking in prohibited areas and be mindful of noise levels.

Know Your Limit

Cannabis affects everyone differently, so know your limits and consume responsibly. Pace yourself and avoid overindulging to prevent unpleasant experiences. If you notice someone overindulging, encourage them to take a break.

Answering Cannabis Etiquette FAQs

If you’re looking to join or host your first smoke session, don’t worry. We’ve got answers to questions you may have:

Do you pass a pre-roll to the left or right? According to tradition, joints are typically passed to the left. There are a variety of possible places this tradition started, from old naval traditions to religious experiences. Wherever the first left pass originated, today, passing to the left is a simple rule that keeps the rotation consistent and prevents confusion.

What should I bring to a smoke session? It's always appreciated when guests contribute to the session. You can offer to bring cannabis, snacks if people get the munchies , drinks, or even music to enhance the experience. If you didn’t know you were going to be joining a session, or you don’t have anything handy, just offer money. Some cash or a quick Venmo can ensure you are invited back the next time.

How many times should I hit a pre-roll before passing it? As the saying goes, "puff, puff, pass." The first hit to try, the second hit to enjoy. Take two hits before passing the pre-roll to ensure everyone gets a turn without bogarting the joint.

Understanding Cannabis Etiquette

Good cannabis etiquette is about fostering a sense of community, respect, and camaraderie among marijuana enthusiasts. By following these unwritten rules, you can ensure that everyone has a positive and enjoyable experience during smoke sessions, and most importantly, you’ll ensure you get an invite back for next time.

Sign the says welcome to colorful Colorado

Colorado, renowned for its progressive approach to cannabis legalization, offers numerous opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy their favorite strain of green. That said, there are still rules to follow and places where you can and cannot partake in your favorite cannabis products. In this guide, we'll delve into the various spaces where you can legally consume cannabis in Colorado, helping you make the most of your experience while staying on the right side of the law.

Colorado Marijuana Laws: The Basics

To fully grasp where you can and cannot consume cannabis in Colorado, you need to be familiar with the state's marijuana laws. Breaking those rules can result in fines, community service, and worse. To make sure you’re able to keep your record clean, we'll outline some essential basics of Colorado's cannabis regulations:

Where Can You Smoke Marijuana in Colorado?

When it comes to enjoying cannabis in Colorado, your options extend far beyond your own home. The Centennial State offers several cannabis-friendly spaces for residents and tourists alike. They include:

Personal Private Property

If you're a Colorado resident, your private property is generally a safe space to consume cannabis—provided you’re not being a nuisance to your neighbors (and local laws don’t prohibit certain areas of your residence). Keeping your marijuana enjoyment within the confines of your home or property and out of the prying eyes of neighbors is perfectly acceptable.

420-Friendly Lodgings & Campgrounds

Tourists and campers can find accommodations that are cannabis-friendly. Certain lodgings and campgrounds permit cannabis consumption, creating a relaxed atmosphere for cannabis enthusiasts. Before booking your accommodations, make sure that they explicitly allow cannabis use.

Cannabis Events & Tours

In Colorado, various events and tours cater to cannabis enthusiasts, including those new to the scene. From educational cannabis tours to immersive experiences, these events provide a legal space to consume while learning more about the plant's history and culture. They also are a great way to meet other green-minded individuals who share your passion.

Consumption Lounges

Consumption lounges have been on the rise in Colorado, offering a social setting for cannabis enthusiasts. Whether you prefer to vape, smoke, or consume cannabis edibles , these lounges provide a controlled and legalized environment for enjoying your favorite products. If you’re planning on visiting one of these places, double check if you can get cannabis there, or nearby, or if you have to bring your own.

Members-Only Clubs

Members-only clubs are also emerging as safe spaces for cannabis consumption. These private clubs require membership for entry and typically provide a secure environment for enjoying your cannabis products. This is a great way to meet a dedicated group of cannabis enthusiasts who are there to have as good of a time as you are, regularly.

Where Are Consumers NOT Allowed to Enjoy Marijuana in Colorado?

While there are several cannabis-friendly spaces in Colorado, it's equally important to recognize where cannabis consumption remains prohibited. These places include:

Public Property

Consuming cannabis in public spaces, such as parks or sidewalks, is illegal—and for good reason. In public spaces, you’re around a whole variety of different people, including kids. Be sure to keep your marijuana under wraps when out in public.

National Parks & Federal Land

National parks and federal lands within Colorado are subject to federal law, which still classifies cannabis as illegal. This means that cannabis consumption in these areas is against the law, so you should definitely keep your cannabis safely stored at home for any hiking trips in national parks or on federal land.

Hotels, Cabins, Rentals

Most hotels, cabins, and rentals maintain a no-smoking policy, which applies to cannabis as well. However, some establishments offer 420-friendly accommodations, so be sure to check the rules before you book your stay. If you end up somewhere that doesn’t allow cannabis consumption, you can always ask a front desk attendant if there are places nearby where cannabis can be enjoyed.

Ski Resorts

Technically, ski resorts are either public property or on federal land. As such, these resorts in Colorado do not permit cannabis consumption on their premises. You may find private property where you can ski and enjoy your cannabis, but just remember that skiing can be dangerous, and coupling that with the effects marijuana can have on your endocannabinoid system may result in injury.

Restaurants, Cafes, Bars

Although Colorado has made significant strides in cannabis legalization, you cannot consume cannabis in most restaurants, cafes, or bars. There are some places, however, that offer patios and outdoor designated areas for consumption. If you’re interested in bringing your cannabis with you, be sure to call ahead and ask first.

Other Colorado Consumption Rules to Consider

Besides recognizing where you can and cannot consume cannabis, you should be aware of other essential rules and regulations to ensure you don’t have any unfortunate run-ins with the law. Here are a few important things to know:

Cannabis Products Cannot Leave the State

Because marijuana is still federally illegal, cannabis products, including flower, edibles, and concentrates, cannot cross state lines. It's essential to consume or dispose of any remaining products before leaving Colorado.

Understand Possession Limits

The state imposes specific possession limits for cannabis (two ounces), but there are also purchase limits. You can purchase an ounce of marijuana, eight grams of concentrates, or 800 mg of THC in one day. This is more than enough cannabis for most enthusiasts.

Check Hyper Local Laws

Whether you're smoking in Denver or Pueblo, Colorado allows individual counties and municipalities to establish their own cannabis regulations. For instance, in some places, you can’t enjoy cannabis outside, even if you’re on your own property, if your property isn’t hidden by a fence. Knowing these rules is going to be crucial to staying compliant.

Understanding Where You Can Smoke in Colorado

Navigating cannabis-friendly spaces in Colorado is fairly easy because businesses want you to be able to enjoy yourself. That said, everyone—from cannabis newbies to seasoned connoisseurs—needs to know that there are some spots you simply can’t spark up. By following state laws and respecting private property rights, you can embrace the unique cannabis culture that Colorado has to offer without getting in trouble.

Use of Marijuana Concentrate may lead to: Psychotic symptoms and/or Psychotic disorder (delusions, hallucinations, or difficulty distinguishing reality); Mental Health Symptoms/Problems; Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) (uncontrolled and repetitive vomiting); Cannabis use disorder/dependence, including physical and psychological dependence.

Cannabis buds and white holiday lights spread out on a table

The holidays can be one of the most stressful times of the year, but there’s one thing you don’t need to stress about—finding the perfect holiday strains for all your celebrations. Whether you’re snuggling down on a cold winter night or looking to liven up the festivities for eight fun-filled nights, we’ve got a strain for you to make this a merry marijuana Christmas and holiday season.

Winter Cannabis Terpenes

Terpenes are an often-overlooked crucial part of the things we love about cannabis strains of all varieties. They give flower its flavors and aromas, and they may also contribute to the entourage effect—the idea that all compounds in the marijuana plant come together to create the high you feel when you consume cannabis. Of course, certain terpenes are more popular than others during different seasons, so these are just a few of our favorite winter terpenes:

Pine: Candle companies are just one of the many industries that capitalize on the pine scent during the holidays. That winter forest aroma comes  from pinene, a terpene found in rosemary, dill, pine trees, and yes, marijuana.  Mint:  The minty flavor is everywhere in the holiday season. Where some scents are because of a single terpene, mint is a combination of minor terpenes,  like thymol and methyl chavicol. Though they’re only found in small amounts in certain marijuana strains, there’s enough in there to ensure you get a minty puff with every inhale.  Cinnamon and cloves: If it has a spicy taste or aroma to it, chances are good that the caryophyllene is in there somewhere. Caryophyllene is the terpene that gives black pepper and basil its tongue-tingling taste. It’s also what gives strains like Girl Scout Cookies and Sour Diesel its peppery spark.

12 Strains for the Holidays

Forget the five golden rings and partridges in pear trees. It's time to update that classic gift list with something a little more green—these 12 strains. In no particular order, here are just some of our favorite strains that are sure to put the fa-la-la into your holiday.

Christmas Tree

For many cannabis enthusiasts, it just doesn’t feel like Christmas until you’ve got your Christmas tree up and decorated. The indica-dominant Christmas Tree strain might be our favorite take on that old tradition. It brings the sweet pine scent we love about fresh-cut trees, and it has a woodsy flavor with just a little bit of a punch to remind you this is a canna-Christmas treat. Best of all, just like Christmas is on the 25th of December, Christmas Tree packs 25% THC .

Whether you’re hanging them on your tree’s boughs or munching on them after a big family dinner, candy canes are undeniably the most well-known holiday candy out there. The Candy Cane strain comes from a few of the most well-known cannabis cultivars out there: AK-47, Mango, and White Widow. Once you spark this bud, there’s no question why it’s earned its name. The flavors are sweet and minty with just a hint of berry on the back end, and the aroma smells just like you’d expect a marijuana nug named Candy Cane should. This indica-dominant strain offers THC levels ranging from 15-20%.

An indica-dominant strain, Snowball gets its name for its frosty-looking buds that are coated with glistening trichomes. Those trichomes should be a pretty good indication of the punch Snowball packs, so you won’t be surprised when we tell you it has a THC range of 26-30%. The flavor and aroma are also high impact—a mix of sour-meets-sweet citrus with a diesel and orange aroma that leans more sour than anything.

Sugar Cookie

There’s something classic about sugar cookies that makes them a must-have for the holidays. Whether you’re decorating them with frosting and sprinkles, or sticking to a traditional recipe, they’re an uncomplicated addition to any holiday spread. The Sugar Cookie strain brings that same energy. It’s a balanced hybrid—50% sativa and 50% indica—with exactly the flavors and aromas you’d expect. Warm, syrupy vanilla and coffee-swirled with sweet cream. Where this Sugar Cookie hits a little harder is its THC levels, ranging from 20-22%.

This indica-leaning strain is the product of another popular winter strain—Jack Frost—being crossed with Blue Monster. Though it's a little harder to find than others, if you see it, you’ll likely know it by the slightly blue hue of its glittery trichomes. In addition to its ornamental appearance, Blue Frost has a charcuterie flavor—cheese meets fruit with a hint of mint—and a pungent, slightly skunky aroma. Even though Blue Frost nugs are usually fairly small in size, they offer a THC level of 22%.

Though it has “frost” in the name, this sativa-dominant strain has nothing to do with Jack Frost or Blue Frost. Rather, Permafrost comes to us from two wildly popular and potent strains: White Widow and Trainwreck. So if the name doesn’t come from its parents, you can deduce that it’s likely the appearance of the bud that gives the impression of permafrost, and you’d be right. It is covered in crystalline trichomes that have the look of freshly rolled snowballs. Those trichomes are also responsible for the 20-23% THC levels.

This balanced hybrid will make you climb to snow-covered peaks with its delightful palette and THC levels ranging from 21-24%. It also has about 4% CBD , making it a little friendlier for first-time winter strain smokers than some of the other bud on our list. Snow Cap tickles the senses with holiday-inspired sweet pine and citrus flavors and aromas that encourage you to settle in and enjoy the experience.

Vanilla Kush

You can’t have a list of holiday strains and not include Vanilla Kush . It’s the perfect complement of creamy, sweet French vanilla flavors with the addition of floral notes in its aroma. While it does have a range of 19-20% THC (and 1% CBD), cannabis enthusiasts who enjoy this strain insist on its hard-hitting nature, so if you’re new to Vanilla Kush, start slow and with a lower dose than you may otherwise have enjoyed. Like with holiday treats, it's easy to overindulge in this holiday strain if you aren’t paying attention.

Bring on the after-dinner Kush Mints , the perfect post-holiday celebration strain to indulge in. This balanced hybrid strain combines mint and coffee flavors with a sweet dash of spice in its aroma to make it as enjoyable while consuming it as after consuming it. Just make sure you indulge responsibly with Kush Mints, as it offers 22-24% THC in its fat buds.

Gingerbread Cookies aka Gingerbread, Ginger Cookies, or Ginger Cookies CBD

While we know Girl Scout Cookies had a hand in making this delicious balanced hybrid strain, that’s about all we know about its history. What we do know is that Gingerbread Cookies has that classic, gingerbread house flavor and aroma. Spicy, nutty, and sweet. We also know that it has a unique THC range of 10-16% and a CBD percentage of 16%. This combination likely makes it one of the most friendly beginner strains on this list that we can almost guarantee you’re going to love.

Jack Herer aka Platinum Jack, Premium Jack, The Jack, or JH

Arguably one of the most popular sativa-dominant strains in the world, Jack Herer needs no introduction. It gets its place on this particular list thanks to its citrus pine aroma, like walking through a wintery forest. Its flavor, however, is similar to a Lemonhead—sour, sweet, and lemony that leaves a candy-like impression on the tongue. Jack Herer has a unique THC range, stretching from a moderate 15% all the way up to a super high 24%. It also has a splash of CBN at 1%.

Stock Up for the Holidays

The best strains for the holidays are the ones you like the most—so pick a few from this list or choose from your own favorite strains. No matter what, your budtender will be able to help you stock up and treat yourself for the holiday season. You may also want to pick up a few gifts for some cannabis-loving friends.

Cannabis tech firms report strong marijuana sales on 4/20 weed holiday.

Cannabis financial technology firms reported strong sales at retail dispensaries for the 4/20 weed high holiday over the weekend, although one company experienced a POS outage that halted transactions at businesses in several states on the industry’s busiest day of the year.

April 20 has become the biggest event of the year for the cannabis community thanks to a band of 1970s California teens who used the number 420 as a code word for smoking pot. After becoming famous with the help of marijuana icons including the Grateful Dead and High Times magazine, 4/20 is now marked with celebrations and demonstrations held in cities around the globe. The day is also the biggest day of the year for the regulated marijuana industry, with brands and retailers routinely offering discounts and other promotions to mark the occasion. This year, President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris marked the day with separate 4/20 tweets calling for continued progress on cannabis policy reform.

Forbes’ Cannabis 42.0 honoree for 2023 and 2024 Jane Technologies, an e-commerce and POS platform serving more than 2,500 dispensaries and brands across 39 U.S. states as well as Canada, reported record sales in some markets. Leading the pack was Illinois, with total sales at retailers utilizing Jane’s technology totaling $4,494,973.86. Total transactions for this year came in at 245,926, representing a 1.67% increase over the 2023 figures of 241,877 and a 13.74% increase over total transactions on April 19 of 216,208, the company reported on Monday.

“We saw record-breaking sales across the country this 420,” Jane Technologies CEO and co-founder Soc Rosenfeld said in a statement on Monday. “At Jane, it was an extremely successful day with well over half a million transactions completed on the platform this holiday weekend. Thanks to our team’s preparedness and experience with high-volume sales days, the Jane platform ran smoothly on Saturday and our partners were able to provide a seamless shopping experience for their customers during the biggest shopping day of the year.”

Jane reported that the top five cannabis brands on April 20 were RYTHM, &Shine, STIIIZY, Savvy and Float. Cannabis flower led as the top product type with nearly $9.4 million in sales, followed by weed vapes with more than $6.2 million. Pot edibles rounded out the top three product types, with more than $3.2 million in 4/20 sales.

Cannabis POS platform Treez, which operates in 11 states and serves over 600 dispensaries, also reported impressive results. In addition to strong sales on the 4/20 holiday itself, dispensaries serviced by the company also saw notable gains on April 19. On April 20, Treez retailers experienced a significant surge, with a 120% increase in customers, products sold and gross sales compared to 2023. The day before, however, dispensaries saw an even more substantial surge, with a 200% increase in customers, products and gross sales compared to last year.

The 420 holiday celebrated on April 20 has become the biggest day of the year for the cannabis ... [+] community.

This year also marked the first year that cannabis flower did not sit alone at the top spot for 4/20 sales processed by Treez. In 2024, cannabis flower and pre-rolled joints tied for first place rankings, according to data shared by the company, with each product type generating 25% of total sales, or a commanding 50% of the total market between them.

To attract customers on the cannabis industry’s busiest day of the year, most if not all dispensaries ran promotions for the 4/20 weekend. Promotional pricing outpaced last year, with retailers discounting an average of 37% in 2024, according to Treez data, compared to 32% in 2023. John Yang, co-founder and CEO of Treez, says that retailers that were strategic with their discounting saw the most success with their 4/20 promotions.

“As cannabis becomes increasingly accessible and mainstream, 420 consistently records high sales, boosted by the entry of new customers and states,” Yang writes in an emailed statement. “This year, customer turnout at dispensaries using Treez on 420 doubled as people sought to capitalize on significant discounts. Retailers that collaborated with brands to offer targeted discounts performed better than those that applied broad, undifferentiated price cuts.”

Dutchie Haunted By Another Outage On 4/20

While both Treez and Jane Technologies reported smooth operations over the 4/20 weekend, cannabis tech firm Dutchie reported POS outages on Saturday in some markets that shut down sales for hours. The outage affected dispensaries in Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey and New Mexico, according to Green Market Report, a cannabis news outlet that noted Dutchie has had technology issues on April 20 for three years in a row. Despite the outage, however, Dutchie also reported strong sales on 4/20 that eclipsed last year’s totals.

“This year’s 4/20 was a record setting day for the majority of Dutchie powered dispensaries. Our systems powered over 2 million transactions, representing $165 Million dollars in retail commerce – a 50% increase from 2023 4/20,” Dutchie chief technology officer Chris Ostrowski said in a statement to Talking Joints Memo.

“While Dutchie and our partners prepared extensively for this year’s 4/20, a group of customers local to a specific instance of our POS system experienced serious issues that impacted their ability to transact. Dutchie is committed to stability and will be continuing to invest heavily to provide a reliable platform for all customers,” Ostrowski said.

Wendy Bronfein cofounder, chief brand officer and director of public policy at multistate operator Curio Wellness, reported that there were lines out the door of multiple dispensaries in Maryland and other parts of the country because of the Dutchie system outage, saying the situation illustrates the need to pass legislation that would ease access to common banking services for licensed cannabis companies.

“This outage is yet another indicator that the industry is in major need of reform. For dispensaries across the nation to experience a major outage with our payment system on the busiest day of the year for cannabis is equivalent to Walmart's systems being down on Black Friday, or Amazon experiencing payment issues on Prime Day,” Bronfein wrote in an emailed statement. “This reaffirms our need for more accessible methods of payment and SAFER Banking, to ensure we don't lose essential sales and that our consumers have access to safe, legal cannabis, as is their right in many states across the U.S.”

A freeze warning in effect for 11 regions in the area

Here’s how much michigan cities, counties made from marijuana sales in 2023, revenue share up more than $25 million from 2022.

Ken Haddad , Digital Managing Editor

Michigan communities opted-in to adult-use marijuana sales were paid out their share of more than $87 million in revenue for 2023.

A total of 99 cities, 30 villages, 69 townships and 71 counties in Michigan were paid as part of the Marihuana Regulation Fund. For the state of Michigan’s 2023 fiscal year, this means each eligible municipality and county will receive more than $59,000 for every licensed retail store and microbusiness located within its jurisdiction.

Revenue was collected from 737 licensees among the state’s cities, villages and townships during the 2023 fiscal year. Some of these municipalities host more than one licensed retail store and microbusiness.

Aside from the more than $87 million in disbursements to municipalities and counties, $101.6 million was sent to the School Aid Fund for K-12 education and another $101.6 million to the Michigan Transportation Fund.

'taylor swift' bills target bots that scoop up tickets to concerts, sporting events.

David Eggert

Taylor Swift

LANSING — Michigan legislators introduced bipartisan bills Wednesday aimed at cracking down on bots that scoop up tickets to popular concerts and sporting events, shutting out fans or leading them to pay more on the secondary market.

The legislation came two weeks after Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs signed an anti-bot measure that was called the "Taylor Swift" bill. In 2022, Ticketmaster's site crashed during a presale event for Swift's stadium tour, which the company said was overwhelmed by fans and attacks from bots.

Michigan already has a law, enacted in 2020 , that prohibits knowlingly selling, using or possessing software that interferes with online ticket sales by circumventing purchasing limits. It a misdemeanor punishably by jail and a $1,000 fine.

The latest legislation, House Bills 5661-5662, would bar the use of a bot to buy a number of tickets to an entertainment event that exceeds the limit by getting around or disabling an electronic queue, waiting period, presale code or security measure. The Michigan attorney general would have to investigate a complaint, and the bills would fine a violator $5,000 per ticket.

"We want to make it hurt. We want the bots, the companies who run these bots, to say, 'Let's just not mess with Michigan anymore,'" said one of the sponsors, Republican Rep. Graham Filler of Clinton County.

The attorney general could sue to stop ongoing violations.

Filler said a 2016 federal law that makes it illegal to use bots to buy large quantities of tickets is not enforced or "doesn't move the needle because the bots continue operating."

"I'm trying to make Michigan a really unattractive state for these bots to do business because it's unfair to people, it's anti-competitive, it's anti-capitalist, it's anti-consumer," Filler said.

He is sponsoring the "Swifties" bills with Democratic Rep. Mike McFall of Hazel Park.

It was not immediately known if the measures will face any opposition. They will be referred to a House committee for consideration.

UP Health System - Portage to hold hiring event to fill CNA positions at PortagePointe

The hospital is hoping for a mix of new nurses and those with experience

HANCOCK, Mich. (WLUC) - UP Health System - Portage is looking to add around 17 certified nursing assistants (CNAs) to its staff.

They would be working inside PortagePointe, the hospital’s long-term, 60-bed nursing facility next door to the main hospital.

“We really specialize in long-term, so when residents move in with us, they’re really here with us for that last chapter of their life and they stay with us until the end,” PortagePointe Nursing Home Administrator Emily Pekarske said.

To do this, the hospital is preparing for an open hire event next week. From 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on May 1, candidates can stop by for interviews and tours.

“This isn’t just a job,” Pekarske continued. “This is a career. This is you making a difference in people’s lives every day. So, we’re looking for people that are invested in and want to be here.”

Pekarske says they hope to see both new nurses and those with experience. She refers to it as a ‘stepping stone’ position, as it gives newer CNAs experience to move up in their careers.

She adds nurses progressing in their careers is the main reason positions are open now. The hospital aims to fill them quickly.

“We’re looking to hire as soon as possible,” PortagePointe Nursing Director Ryan Jurmu said. “So, after the event, we probably wouldn’t hire them that exact day, but we would hire them soon thereafter.”

A major requirement for hiring is a CNA license, but interested parties can still visit.

“If this career interests you at all, you could reach out to me, you could reach out to our HR department,” Jurmu added. “And we could help get you information on how to get your license, you can come take a look at the facility, we can show you around, and let you know what the job is all about.”
