From the 1930s to 1980s, Battersea Power Station was a working Power Station. At its peak, the Power Station was supplying a fifth of London's power, supplying electricity to some of London’s most recognisable landmarks, such as the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. After decades of sitting derelict, it is now open to the public as one of London's most exciting and innovative new riverside destinations.

Searcys Champagne Bar comes to Battersea Power Station
Updated 18/10/23 with opening date and launch offer
The big refit of Battersea Power Station that we've seen over the past few years isn't finished yet. Next up for the station is a brand-new Champagne bar.
It comes from Searcys, whose most well-known bar is the one that aligns the Eurostar platform at St Pancras. They'd previously popped up at Battersea with a vintage Rolls Royce Champagne Coupé pop-up. This their permanent Battersea bar will seat 75 in a combination of bar and table seating. And, like the original bar, their Press for Champagne (wonder where they got that idea?!!) will be making an appearance in Battersea too.
For food, there will be fresh seafood, including a big shellfish platter, as well as cured meats and salads. There'll also be lots of Champagne to go with, of course.
More about Searcys Champagne Bar
Where is it? 1st Floor, Turbine Hall, Battersea Power Station, 21 Circus Road West, SW11 8EZ

Discover Our Heritage
The heritage of Battersea Power Station is its DNA, with the building’s past continuing to be celebrated into its future. The restoration and repurposing of the building is a major achievement and several interventions and experiences have been introduced, both inside and outside the Grade II* listed building, to ensure that every visitor to Battersea Power Station has an opportunity to learn about the building’s unique history and remarkable story of transformation.
Place Plaques: Situated both inside and outside the Power Station are a series of place plaques and totems that provide rich insights into the building’s past and present. The plaques share unique anecdotes about the Power Station and how it once functioned, as well as explain how the building has been restored.
Power of Place Exhibition: Power of Place – The Making of Battersea Power Station is a free mobile exhibition, currently located in the North Atrium, Ground Floor, inside the building. The exhibition explores the history of the Power Station over the past 40 years, following the transformational journey from closure to reawakening, made possible by Battersea Power Station’s consortium of Malaysian shareholders’ vision and determination. The exhibition team includes Cultural Innovations (content interpretation and design), The Hub (construction), ACME Studios (graphic design), Displayways (graphic production) and MurryTwohig (concept).
Plant in the Park: Across Power Station Park there are several core pieces of original plant that once helped the Power Station operate, their sculptural style highlighted in bold colour. Alongside the plant, is a segment from one of the original chimneys that was taken down as part of the building’s careful restoration process. The reuse of heritage objects, once a vital part of the building’s past, seek to engage people with the rich history and legacy of the Power Station.
Heritage and Learning Hub: For visitors arriving from Battersea Park, a stop in the Heritage and Learning Hub, located in Grosvenor Railway Arch, offers the opportunity to see a historic model of the Power Station and the chance to understand more about the building’s role in powering London in the 20th century.
Team Battersea Alumni: To learn more about what it was like to work inside the Power Station, a short film has been commissioned that captures the personal stories and experiences of six former employees at Battersea Power Station. The film features never before seen footage of life at the iconic London landmark when it was operational. We are still keen to hear from former workers so if you or someone you know have a memory of the Power Station please email [email protected] , tweet or share a photo on Facebook or Instagram with #TeamBattersea.
Lift 109: And for one of the most unique views in all of London, a stop at Lift 109 , will provide an experience like no other. Visitors’ journeys start in the Power Station’s Art Deco Turbine Hall A, where a carefully curation exhibition will explore the building’s rich heritage, its architectural significance and enduring presence in popular culture. The experience culminates in a journey up one of the iconic chimneys to 109 metres in the sky. For more details and to book click here .
