2 women sue popular South Florida river cruise, claiming they were drugged on board
(WSVN) - A popular South Florida river cruise is being sued after two women say they were drugged on board. 7’s Heather Walker investigates.
Jungle Queen Riverboats is advertised as “fun for the whole family.”
The cruise includes a tropical island dinner, show and sightseeing in Fort Lauderdale.
Karren Hanson, suing tour boat: “We were there for some, you know, R&R, just to get away and enjoy some, you know, some girl time.”
But they say their girls trip took a turn shortly after they boarded the boat.
Heather Walker: “When did you realize something was wrong?”
Teresa Viscovich, suing tour boat: “Within 15 minutes.”
Longtime friends Teresa and Karren were expecting to have a good time, but after one glass of wine, they say things became foggy.
Teresa Viscovich: “My speech was slurred. I couldn’t walk right.”
They were confused, but one thing was clear.
Teresa Viscovich: “Something is very wrong.”
The next day, they called police.
According to the police report, the women “were concerned that their bartender … drugged their drinks.”
He was texting the women trying to meet up with them after the cruise.
Teresa Viscovich: “The way the bar is set up is, you can’t see anything he’s doing back there.”
Police investigated but found “no video on the cruise and no evidence of who, if anyone, had put anything in their drinks,” and the case was closed, despite the fact that the women had their hair tested, and the results showed they were positive for GHB, which the Drug Enforcement Administration says is known as a date rape drug.
Teresa Viscovich: “I’ve never done drugs a day in my life.”
The women are now suing Jungle Queens Inc. for failing to prevent drugging on a boat.
We went to the Jungle Queen to get a response.
A lawyer for the boat company sent a statement saying in part:
“Jungle Queens has taken the allegations … very seriously. Jungle Queens has worked hard at building a reputation … and the safety of their guests are of the greatest importance. We have conducted a thorough investigation and have concluded there is no evidence to support these baseless and defamatory allegations.”
Adding that after the cruise, the women “stated they had a great time in text message communications with a crew member.”
Jungle Queens Inc. filed motions to dismiss the complaints, saying the allegations were insufficient. But the case is moving forward, and the women continue to recover from that night.
Teresa Viscovich: “My vision doesn’t line up anymore. Now, it’s like this.”
Teresa says memory issues forced her to give up her nursing license.
Teresa Viscovich: “That was a tough one, because the way it goes is, once a nurse, always a nurse. That was a huge piece of my identity, and it’s gone.”
Both women say they suffer from severe anxiety.
Karren Hanson: “I don’t do a lot of social situations that I used to do because they don’t feel safe anymore.”
They still can’t believe one girls trip could change their lives so much.

Examining Dolphins Round 2 Options on the Line
The Miami Dolphins are scheduled to pick 55th in the second round
- Author: Jason Sarney
In this story:
The Miami Dolphins head into Thursday's NFL draft with the 21st selection in Round 1 and then 55th overall in Round 2.
At that second-round spot, several quality players should be available. Of course, depending on what the Dolphins do in Round 1, there are viable options at offensive and defensive lines, areas of significant need for Miami.
This draft is top-heavy in offensive tackle talent, with potentially five being selected before Miami’s 21st pick. With solid day two depth at tackle as well as the interior of the offensive line, the Dolphins could target a lineman at 55 should they go another direction Thursday — or maybe even double up.
OFFENSIVE LINE CANDIDATES FOR ROUND 2
Looking at those candidates on the offensive side of the line, Miami could go with immediate plug-and-play help at guard, which would scream UConn’s Christian Haynes. The pure right guard is an excellent run blocker, especially in wide-zone schemes, perfect for Mike McDaniel’s offense.
Haynes may not have the biggest size and frame, but he is an intelligent and technically sound player. At the NFL Combine in March, he was in the 90% percentile of offensive linemen running the 40-yard dash. He was clocked at 5.03 seconds, a top-10 time among all offensive linemen.
At 55, there is a solid chance Haynes will be available for Miami, with ESPN Analytics' Day Predictor putting at 75 percent the chances he'll still be on the board.
ESPN Draft expert Mel Kiper’s recent mock has Haynes at 55th, while his overall player rank is #69 per the chart. Reid has Haynes as high as 35th in his most recent mock.
Based on this analytics tool, other names projected to be available in this area within the offensive line would be Kansas State’s Cooper Beebe and West Virginia’s Zach Frazier. Beebe is a guard prospect who is a force as a pass protector. Perhaps the class's best interior lineman in pass pro, Beebe is nearly as skilled in run blocking as well.
Like Haynes, he has good speed for a guard with a 5.03 40-yard dash and position flexibility. While an NFL guard in all likelihood, he does have tackle experience. Like Haynes, there is a 75% chance he could be there for Miami at pick 55.
Frazier, perhaps the class’s best center along with Jackson Powers-Johnson, is less likely to be available for Miami. Currently, at a 60% chance of being there at #55, per ESPN analytics. Frazier has spiked upwards in mock drafts and is ranked as the draft’s 64th-best player. He has even been mocked in the first round on some boards.
Staying on the offensive line, but with pure tackles, following the top-tier of this year’s class, plenty of value remains in Round 2. A prospect to keep an eye on is BYU’s Kingsley Suamataia.
Analytically, there is a 55% chance he is available at number 55. However, if Miami goes with another area in Round 1, Suamataia is a potential future franchise left tackle. Veteran Terron Armstead could have limited games left in the tank, and Miami must be thinking about his successor.
As a Round 2 prospect who could even go as high as 38th per ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid’s last mock, Suamataia is a gifted and freakish athlete. He was ranked 6th in Athleticism Score at the NFL Combine among offensive tackles. Kiper mocked him at 64th, and his overall player rank on ESPN is 47th.
Suamataia could be appealing to the Dolphins because of his quality and fundamentally sound pass protection to go with his knowledge of RPO and zone-based blocking schemes. He has the ability to play either right or left tackle and could be a viable emergency play as a rookie for Armstead, and a fixture at tackle for Miami when the veteran hangs up the cleats. Which could be next season.
Roger Rosengarten of Washington is another fast offensive tackle in this range for Miami. The Huskies prospect actually was the top speed offensive lineman at the combine, putting up a 4.92 40-yard dash time. Mix that speed at the position and the fact he is familiar with protecting a left-handed thrower (Michael Penix, Jr.), he should be enticing for Miami.
Rosengarten has been mocked as Kiper’s 31st pick and Reid’s 63rd. He is appealing to the Dolphins for his familiarity with zone-blocking schemes and his ability to advance to the next level.
DEFENSIVE LINE CANDIDATES FOR ROUND 2
On the other side of the ball, Miami lost defensive tackle Christian Wilkins to free agency. He is not easily replaced, but the first round could be the best opportunity to address the vacancy with top-tier prospects Byron Murphy II of Texas and Jer’Zhan Newton of Illinois.
Murphy is projected as a top 20 pick and potentially within the first 15. His chances of being available for Miami even at 21st is slim at 30%. Newton’s chances at 21 for Miami are very much viable at 90%. Following this pair, there is a slight drop-off in the next tier.
Targeting second-round prospects in this group for the Dolphins would be Florida State’s Braden Fiske and Michigan’s Kris Jenkins. Fiske was the combine’s 40-yard dash king of the defensive tackles at 4.78 and shooting up boards. His speed and power combination as a pass rusher from the interior makes him a likely top-50 player.
ESPN is projecting him as the 38th-best prospect, and Kiper has him selected at 54th and Reid to the Dolphins at 55th. ESPN analytics gives Fiske a 40% chance to be available for Miami at 55.
A bit better in odds for the Dolphins would be collegiate champion Kris Jenkins at 60% availability at pick 55. Coming off of a national championship year in Michigan, Jenkins is the son of an NFL Pro Bowl lineman. He has a very similar size and frame to Wilkins at 6-3, 299 pounds, and like the former Clemson national champion, he enters the draft months removed from hoisting a trophy. ESPN’s analytics give Jenkins an overall player ranking of 45th, and he is mocked at 48th by Kiper and 42nd by Reid.
Another name to look for would be Texas teammate to Murphy, T’Vondre Sweat. A massive size anchor for any rush defense, Sweat stands at 6-4, 366. ESPN ranked him the 48th best prospect, and there is a 75% chance he remains on the board for Miami in the second round.

Miami dolphins say promoter of ‘fan cruise’ stiffed team out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The Miami Dolphins were forced to cough up more than a quarter million dollars owed to MSC Cruises after the promoter of a Dolphins “fan cruise” failed to pay the cruise line as promised, the NFL team charged in a federal lawsuit filed Friday.
Not only did defendants First Class Cruises LLC and its president Jeffrey Nahom fail to remit to MSC fares that passengers prepaid, the company also stiffed 35 former players recruited for the cruise out of hundreds of thousands of dollars of promised sponsorship benefits and appearance fees, the suit alleges.
Meanwhile, Nahom treated himself and his family to the nicest cabins on the MSC Seascape when the seven-day fan cruise sailed from Miami early this month, the Dolphins are charging.
The lawsuit states that Nahom and First Class Cruises entered into a sponsorship agreement in June 2022 to organize the “Miami Dolphins Fan Cruise.” The event’s website bills it as an opportunity for fans to “Interact, engage, and get to know” legends like Dan Marino, Mark Duper, and Larry Csonka in “themed events, excursions, competitions, parties, meet & greets, photo opportunities” and more.
In early March, as the departure date loomed less than a month away, the team discovered that First Class Cruises and Nahom had failed to turn over to MSC $251,372 for 61 staterooms that fans had paid for in advance, and $96,004 for 35 staterooms that former Dolphin players were promised, the suit says.
To avert cancellation of the cruise, the team says it agreed to pay the outstanding costs. Nahom told Dolphins officials that he took “full responsibility for the situation I’ve put the Dolphins in” and assured the team that he’d “pay the Dolphins back every penny,” the complaint states.
As run by the promoter, the cruise got off to a “rocky start” after departing Miami on April 2 and generated “many complaints,” the suit states. While “many bookings” were marketed as including alcoholic beverage packages and free WiFi, Dolphins fans discovered that those had not been paid for, the suit states. That forced the team to pay $17,739 to ensure that the passengers could access the promised amenities during the cruise, the Dolphins claim.
But the promoter and his family cruised in luxury, the lawsuit says.
“The Dolphins Parties further discovered that — instead of using the funds that [First Class Cruises] had collected to secure fan and player staterooms, or fulfill FCC’s other contractual obligations to the Dolphins Parties — Nahom had booked for himself and his family, as well as other FCC personnel, MSC Yacht Club staterooms, the most expensive, luxurious accommodations onboard MSC’s cruise ship,” the team said.
Nahom did not immediately respond to a voice mail left at his Boca Raton-based businesses, which public records identify as both First Class Vacations and First Class Cruises. The Dolphins’ attorney, Melissa C. Pallett-Vasquez of the Miami-based firm Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP, did not respond to an email asking why the team signed a sponsorship deal with First Class Cruises in light of past controversies involving Nahom and his companies.
On April 10, the day the cruise returned to Miami, the Dolphins notified Nahom that it considered him in default for failing to pay an outstanding cash payment of $280,000 and a $300,000 appearance fee as required by the contract, according to the suit. The team also demanded reimbursement of payments made to MSC on the promoter’s behalf, the suit says.
In all, the lawsuit seeks to recover $945,115, plus damages, interest, costs, and expenses that the Dolphins say Nahom and First Class Cruises owes.
Reviews of the cruise posted on social media were mixed.
On Facebook, Candy Powers Fik praised former players who took time to chat with her and her husband, including O.J. McDuffie, Tony Nathan and Otto Stow.
But Richard Gibson wrote a long post stating that the cruise, which he said was attended by about 700 Dolphins fans, was “very, very … very disorganized with long lines (many over an hour) to just about all of the daily events with the 35 Fins players aboard.”
Rebecca Winters referred in a different post to “miscommunications, lack of communication and outright inaccuracies” that she called “astounding.” The promoters failed to provide itineraries for the cruise’s events until the day before the ship sailed, she wrote.
“This is just the tip of the iceberg with respect to the issues the fans have. Everything from room issues, billing issues, package purchases not fulfilled…the list goes on and on,” Winters wrote.
A man posting under the name of the promoter, Jeff Nahom, whose profile page identified him as a “participant” on the private Miami Dolphin Fan Cruise Facebook group, responded to Winters’ comment, saying it was “not factual.” Referring to Nahom by name, he wrote that “Jeff Nahom and FCC will soon be exonerated” and asked Winters to join a Zoom call last Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
“I have nothing but respect and love for each and every passenger who put out their hard-earned money for the Inaugural Dolphins fan cruise,” the man posting under the name Jeff Nahom wrote. “I will not rest until my name is cleared and each and every passenger is completely satisfied. Things happen for a reason, and everyone will be ecstatic in the end.”
But after the scheduled time for the Zoom call passed, Winters posted, “No surprise to me at all that the Zoom meeting has been cancelled.”
“Nahom” replied, “Do you know why it was cancelled? You don’t need to answer it. It will be rescheduled as soon as possible. As mentioned, for reasons beyond my control.”
Gibson and another poster noted that Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino stayed on the ship for two days before departing for good when it arrived in Nassau, Bahamas.
Chris Rhodes said he paid $6,800 and was “supposed to get an opportunity” to meet Marino “but it never happened.”
But Toni Loftiss said she met Marino the first night “and he was very nice!”
The Dolphins Fan Cruise isn’t the first NFL-related cruise involving Nahom and First Class Cruises that generated controversy, according to published reports.
In February, the Washington Times reported that the NFL’s Washington Commanders cancelled a planned fan August cruise promoted by Nahom and his firm “because of significant changes … to the original offering, including cruise line, destinations and dates.”
In 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles provided refunds to fans after Philadelphia’s NBC affiliate complained about long waits for refunds after a Nahom-promoted fan cruise was cancelled in 2020 because of the COVID pandemic.
Before First Class Cruises was founded in 2019, Nahom was president of First Class Vacations from 2006 to 2020, according to the Florida Division of Corporations’ online database. First Class Vacations became an “inactive” company in September 2021, but a website operating under that name remains active.
On the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ database of licensed sellers of travel, the status of both First Class Cruises and First Class Vacations — each identified as operating out of the same Boca Raton address — is listed as Closed — Out of Business.
First Class Cruises registered with the Division of Corporations in 2019 as a Las Vegas-based foreign profit corporation with the same Boca Raton mailing address as listed at the Department of Agriculture site. But its active status was revoked in 2021 for failing to submit an annual report, the division’s website shows.
In 2021, TCA Global Credit Master Fund LP won a $1.36 million default judgment against Jeff and Rebecca Nahom, First Class Vacations and Firefly Travel Corp., according to the Broward County Clerk of Courts website. Jeff Nahom was identified as a registered agent of both companies.
According to the Palm Beach County Clerk of Court’s website, the North Palm Beach-based law firm Cohen, Norris, Wolmer, Ray, Teleman, Berkowitz & Cohen filed suit against Nahom in 2020 alleging he failed to pay a $15,229 legal bill for services agreed to orally in 2018.
Although the firm filed a notice of settlement in July 2020, a year later it reopened the case, alleging that Nahom made three payments of $1,000 each, then failed to make the rest of the promised payments, according to court documents. That October, Nahom was found in contempt of court for failing to pay the remainder of the money owed, court records show.
First Class Vacations has an F rating on the Better Business Bureau’s website. The site has nine complaints from customers who said they haven’t seen refunds from trips cancelled in 2020 because of the pandemic.
Responding to one of the complaints in June 2020, an anonymous spokesperson for the company stated that it was owed many refunds from travel providers and planned to “start making refunds [to customers] within the next few months,” adding, “we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to make the full refund in one payment as we have several other customers to refund.”

A look at the dolphins' nfl draft needs with 1st-round pick for the 1st time since 2021, miami will have the 21st selection in the nfl draft, by associated press • published april 25, 2024 • updated on april 25, 2024 at 3:13 pm.
Mike McDaniel joked during last year's NFL draft that he couldn't wait to finally have a first-round pick.
The Miami Dolphins head coach hasn't had that luxury since taking over the team in 2022, but that will change this year, as the Dolphins will pick on the opening night of the draft for the first time since 2021.
Miami will have the 21st selection, along with five more in this year's draft, leaving the team with more flexibility in the opening round than it has had in years — and general manager Chris Grier said Miami is weighing all of its options.
“I think you have to be open to everything," Grier said earlier in the offseason. "If it’s a possibility of moving up or moving down for something and get in a better position to get a player that we may say is a home run for us, we’re definitely open to moving up. If someone wants to drop to our spot and we move down and pick up extra picks, we’re very open to that too as well.”

Miami didn't select until the third round in 2022 after using its first- and second-round picks to acquire Tyreek Hill from Kansas City. The Dolphins forfeited their 2023 first-rounder after they violated the league’s antitampering policy by communicating with Tom Brady and Sean Payton, and they traded another first-round pick away to acquire star pass rusher Bradley Chubb from Denver.
The Dolphins have lost a slew of free agents that were key contributors to a roster coming off a second consecutive postseason berth. Standout defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, right guard Rob Hunt and linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel all signed deals elsewhere. And the Dolphins also cut linebacker Jerome Baker and veteran cornerback Xavien Howard, leaving the team with several holes to address in free agency and the draft.

Hill and Jaylen Waddle combined for more yards (2,813) than any other wide receiver duo in the NFL in 2023. Miami has depth concerns at wide receiver beyond those two, which was evident late last season as Hill and Waddle dealt with injuries. Other priorities for Miami include adding help to the interior offensive line to protect quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The Dolphins could also use another edge rusher, with Chubb (ACL) and Jaelan Phillips (Achilles tendon) coming off significant injuries.
The Dolphins appear to be set at running back after extending Raheem Mostert, who set career highs in rushing yards (1,012) and total touchdowns (21). The Dolphins also having speedy second-year running back De'Von Achane, who had 800 yards rushing and 7.8 yards per carry his rookie season.
A THIRD OPTION
Miami needs a third receiving option behind Hill and Waddle. No other Dolphins receiver had more than 27 catches or 300 yards last season — their third-leading receiver was tight end Durham Smythe with 366 yards on 35 catches. The Dolphins have not addressed the position yet in free agency, although they held a visit with veteran Odell Beckham Jr. in March and made him an offer, according to McDaniel.
“Things went great with him,” McDaniel said during the NFL's league meetings last month. “We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players like Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career and still has really good football in front of him and has options. I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”
ADDING INSURANCE
While the Dolphins are set at quarterback with Tagovailoa, whom Grier said the team intends to reach a long-term deal with, Miami could use a late-round pick to add insurance at the backup spot. Backup Mike White is set to become a free agent next offseason, and Skylar Thompson did not play last season. The Dolphins could also use a tackle to develop under veteran left tackle Terron Armstead, who was sidelined multiple games the past two seasons because of injuries and briefly considered retirement after the 2023 season.
The Dolphins also forfeited their 2023 third-rounder for tampering and sent their fourth to the Broncos in the deal that brought over Chubb.
