(New transfer, June 2023) Six couples (thinking they have won a vacation prize) board a ship and go on a Carribean cruise. When each of the winners start turning up dead, it soon becomes apparent that the contest was just a trick to begin a killing game. It is up to the ship's doctor, Doctor Burke (Michael Constantine) to figure out what the connection between all these individuals are before more bodies start to turn up. Partially filmed at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Death Cruise stars Richard Long (in his last film appearance), Polly Bergen, Kate Jackson, Celeste Holm, & Tom Bosley.

With a title like Death Cruise you know this pirate is invested in this material sure it lacks a treasure of gold but it did allow me to plunder this made for T.V. whodunnit upon the open waters with an affable cast and the obligatory Tom Bosley. Don't expect a reinvention of the wheel but just a fun 70's short film that has you batting around who is the killer and what is the connection amongst these supposed strangers. Mainly checked this out because it was mentioned on video archive podcast but when it also gets a better than average review(and might a say also a better review and more insightful than I) by Jack Often you know I'm gonna step aboard this vessel to see how seaworthy it is and I do have to say I didn't need any dramamine and sailed threw this campy movie fully enthused.

The Love Boat meets And Then There Were None courtesy of Aaron Spelling and prolific television director Ralph Senensky. Much like The Love Boat we are here for the guests and they are lots of fun; jealous gravel-voiced Polly Bergen married to horny Big Valley star Richard Long, dissatisfied Tom Bosley married to oblivious Celeste Holm, and baby-crazy Kate Jackson married to not-baby-crazy Edward Albert. Doctor-at-large Michael Constantine and captain Cesare Danova fill out the ship's crew. I clocked the murderer within the first five minutes and so will you but it doesn't matter at all; we're here for the histrionics from this unlikely assortment of celebs and the movie delivers. It's capably constructed and gives us plenty of time with everyone before wrapping things up with an extra little twist.

On October 30th, 1974, television audiences who skipped egging, soaping, and toilet papering their neighborhoods were treated to this brisk mystery, debuting as ABC's Movie of the Week. It starred the likes of Kate Jackson (Night of Dark Shadows, Charlie's Angels), Tom Bosley (Me and the Chimp, Happy Days), Edward Albert (Galaxy of Terror, The House Where Evil Dwells), Polly Bergen (The Sopranos, Cape Fear), and Cesare Danova (Mean Streets, Tentacles). It was directed by Ralph Senensky, known for helming episodes of Star Trek, The Partridge Family, and The Waltons, and plays like an extended homicidal episode of The Love Boat. I think I'd have rathered the rush of Mischief Night vandalism over sitting down to this. Still, not unredeemably awful.

This ABC Movie of the Week is a pretty decent little shipboard murder mystery along the lines of Agatha Christie. It managed a twisty ending that successfully misdirected me, anyway. It has a starry cast including Tom Bosley, Kate Jackson, Celeste Holm, and Polly Bergen and it keeps things interesting with the relationship ups and downs between three couples who are targeted for death for reasons unknown. The beginning put me in mind of The Poseidon Adventure and the ending of And Then There Were None . It's solid television entertainment circa 1974 and it's in the top tier of the MOTWs that I've seen so far.

Three miserable couples on board a cruise ship start getting bumped off. They were all lured aboard the ship by winning a sweepstakes. Also, they all were in Atlanta, GA at some point in 1970 and may have met each other then. Why are they being iced?

"Death Cruise" is an Aaron Spelling made-for-tv joint. For real, this thing could be a straight dry-run for "The Looove Boooat, soon will be making another run. The Loooovee Booat." It's mellow. So very mellow, that I'm thinking Spelling might have made a huge batch of a valium-infused beverage and served it up to the entire freaking cast. This thing kind of made me feel like I was on Xanax just from watching…

Absolutely nothing ground-breaking here, but after a very unpromising opening title sequence (terrible joke from each couple, cut to their name credit!), I was pleasantly surprised at how this developed into an involving little mystery. And although in retrospect it seems rather obvious - did not guess the murderer!

A trio of couples all win a luxury cruise from a competition which none of them remember entering, from a company which turns out to be nothing more than a Post Office box. And one by one they are murdered.

All very And Then There Were None , except that only these six people seem to be the targets of the mysterious killer, while the rest of the passengers, and the crew are in no danger. So more like, And Then There Were Some.

The captain is surprisingly calm about the fact that his freezer is slowly filling up with dead passengers, and puts the unassuming, and new (you'd think there'd be something in that, but there isn't) ship's doctor onto the case.

It's pretty obvious who the killer is, but the why of it requires a good deal of explanation, and even then is less than convincing.

Three sets of bickering couples win all expenses paid trips on a cruise ship, but when they start dying it's up to last minute replacement doctor Michael Constantine to start sleuthing. It made me wish that it was picked up as a TV series where Michael Constantine picked up odd jobs that resulted in crimes to be solved (The Temp) --- the only downside is that Death Cruise is horrible. It's a large commercial ship so there are a hundred guests - we never have the sense of isolation or tension that a Ten Little Indians whodunnit requires. Given that we never linger on the faces of all the other guests, when one is finally given a line of dialogue it's removes any question of who the killer is. I like Tom Bosley, and the ship setting should have given this loads of atmosphere, but this is a trip not worth taking.

It looks like a made for Tv-production and it probably was, but that doesn´t take away anything of its great atmosphere. A weird mixture between "Love Boat" and "Murder she wrote".....i liked this one.....a cool setting and a few twists and turns make this one worth watching....

My mate told me to watch Deathproof (2007) and I misheard him and watched this instead. He told me “nah it’s full of sexy women and cars and shit” and I kept waiting for them to show up and ended up watching the whole thing. Then I was mad cause I thought he tricked me and went off on him and the whole thing was a whole emotional episode but I guess that’s what film is all about so idk maybe 5 stars? The actual movie was garbage btw
