BAG EVALUATION

We will perform a diagnostic evaluation of the player’s current equipment through turf and ball fight interaction using trackman™ data. during the experience we’ll adjust loft & lie as needed while making overall bag recommendations..

WEDGE FITTING

The short game fitting for wedges will focus on yardage gaping on full swing shots as well as off-speed shots. We will evaluate how the player delivers the club head to the ball selecting the proper lofts and sole grinds to match each player’s specific delivery.

WOOD/SHAFT FITTING

We will create a baseline with the player’s personal driver with captured trackman™ data. then, using a universal fitting matrix that offers over 4200+ driver head and shaft options we will fit the player for the optimal equipment combination..

As you probably know by now, Collin Morikawa switched putters after the first round of The Masters, and he ultimately went on to finish T3.

The putter was far from the only change he made last week, however, and his bag is continuing to change this week at the 2024 RBC Heritage.

On the range of The Masters, Morikawa worked closely with Adrian Reitveld, TaylorMade’s Senior Manager of Tour at TaylorMade, to find the perfect driver and 3-wood setups.

Morikawa started off 2024 by switching into TaylorMade’s Qi10 Max driver, but since went back to his faithful TaylorMade SIM – yes, the original SIM from 2020. Somehow, some way, it seems Morikawa always ends up back in that driver, which he used to win the 2020 PGA Championship , and the 2021 Open Championship .

At The Masters, however, Rietveld said the duo found the driver head that allowed “zero compromise” on Morikawa’s preferred fade flight and spin. To match his preferences, they landed on a TaylorMade Qi10 LS 9-degree head, and the lie angle is a touch flatter than his former SIM.

“It’s faster than his gamer, and I think what we found is it fits his desired shot shape, with zero compromise” Rietveld told GolfWRX.com on Wednesday at the RBC Heritage.

Then, to replace his former SIM rocket 3-wood, Morikawa decided to switch into the TaylorMade Qi10 core model 13.5-degree rocket head, with an adjustable hosel.

“He likes the spin characteristics of that head,” Rietveld said. “Now he’s interesting because with Collin, you can turn up at a tournament, and you look at his 3-wood, and he’s changed the setting. One day there’s more loft on it, one day there’s less loft on it. He’s that type of guy. He’s not scared to use the adjustability of the club.

“And I think he felt our titanium head didn’t spin as low as his original SIM. So we did some work with the other head, just because he liked the feel of it. It was a little high launching, so we fit him into something with less loft. It’s a naughty little piece of equipment.” 

In addition to the driver and fairway wood changes, Morikawa also debuted his new “MySymbol” jersey No. 5 TP5x golf ball at The Masters. Morikawa’s choice of symbols is likely tied to his love of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.

On Wednesday at the 2024 RBC Heritage, Morikawa was spotted with a new TaylorMade “Proto” 4-iron in the bag. If you recall, it’s the same model that Rory McIlroy debuted at the 2024 Valero Texas Open.

According to Morikawa, the new Proto 4-iron will replace his old P-770 hollow-bodied 4-iron.

“I used to hit my P-770 on a string, but sometimes the distance would be a little unpredictable,” Morikawa told GolfWRX.com. “This one launches a touch higher, and I feel I can predict the distance better. I know Rory replaced his P-760 with it. I’m liking it so far.”

Ken Schall Launches a Mobile Custom Fitting & Club Repair Van

Ken Schall has long been known as a leading PGA Professional in the State of Iowa. The six-time Iowa PGA Section Award winner and Quarter-Century PGA member has been recognized as Teacher of the Year, Merchandiser of the Year and even Golf Professional of the Year by his Section peers, and has made the Golf Digest America’s Best Clubfitters list several times.

Schall owns a successful golf performance studio in West Des Moines that offers extensive fitting, club repair and instruction services, and his multi-faceted approach to game improvement has been growing the game of golf in Iowa for decades. Schall continues to grow his business and serve Iowa golfers by being innovative and taking advantage of the changing times. This time he’s done it with a new mobile custom fitting and club repair studio.

“Our regular indoor studio has three hitting bays and a SAM PuttLab area,” Schall commented. “We recently expanded our operation to go outdoors,” he added. Schall is a member at Echo Valley Country Club in Des Moines, a facility with a sizable, newly-renovated, double-sided practice range for its members and guests. Schall collaborated with the club’s owner to build a learning center on the range’s far end. They built a concrete slab, upon which Schall parks his large Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van and they also covered a portion of the hitting area with a CoverShots unit to continue operations during inclement weather.

Schall had the van wrapped to promote his business, installed solar panels atop the vehicle to power a generator that keeps the van cool and comfortable inside and had custom cabinets installed to make it functional and efficient. Inside the van, Schall has a loft and lie machine, a gripping station, a shaft-extraction unit and a frequency machine. “It’s a complete tour van that we plan on taking around the area to some member-guest tournaments and the state amateur championship,” Schall explained.

Schall further described the interior as having an array of pull-out drawers chock full of driver heads, iron heads, shafts and club accessories from manufacturers such as TaylorMade, Callaway, Ping, Mizuno, PXG, Cleveland, Bettinardi and more.

In addition, all of the new business that Schall has acquired through the fitting van has warranted hiring another fitter/teacher to work exclusively at Echo Valley. With the club’s retail operation focused primarily on soft goods and member services, Schall worked with the club’s owner to put these clubfitting and hard goods services in place.

There's a club for sale in the marketplace that is generating some buzz. The driver is from a "tour van" and is priced - at least to me - rather high? I legitimately want to know - why would the price be so much different (ie. higher) simply because it came from a tour van? Are there tighter tolerances? Inquiring minds want to know.

If it's legit it's not out of line of others being sold else where. I just read something about why the M1 was more expensive and it had to do with the cor being different than the retail drivers. Is there any kind of special markings on tour issued clubs so a consumer can have confidence with their purchase?  

I have a few Tour Issue clubs. A set of Titleist 914MBs, Adams CB/MB mixed irons and a TM Superfast TP that was a tour players backup driver. The only differences are the tolerances for headweights and the maximum SF with the driver heads are spot on 1.50 with some even exceeding that slightly.

The serial # will usually have the markings depending on the manufacturer. TM will usually have an uppercase T beside the club # ie T3 for a 3w or T5 for 5W. Some others will have xxxxTxxxx or something along those lines.

Sometimes, retail options just don't allow golfers to play certain clubs due to head weight, lie angle or face angle. Some people need an open face or heavier head or flatter lie with a wood. Off the rack clubs can't be manipulated like tour issue clubs can. For the example, TM has some clubs with longer hosels, usually woods, for the ability to adjust lie angle. Also as many people here can agree, the XR fairways were very light (designed that way on purpose) and a lot of people wished that could add weight to the head to raised club head total weight to their preferred amount but were unable to due to no port hole to allow access. The tour issue ones have a hot melt hole, retail don't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I could see maybe a mini tour player, or someone with a high enough caliber of a game have access to a tour van, but how would a random joe? I already know I'll probably get the obvious answer suggestion "money," but how do people have access tour van's and purchasing tour van items?

The eyes of the golfing world move about 150 miles east from Augusta, Georgia, to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for the next Signature Event on the PGA TOUR schedule – the RBC Heritage.

It’ll be quite the change for the best in the world coming from the Masters to Harbour Town with the low-country chill and charm a welcome respite after Augusta National Golf Club was at its toughest and brawniest last week.

But the best in the game are set to gather for the next Signature Event on the TOUR’s schedule – including the undisputed world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler.

Here’s everything else you need to know as the TOUR returns to Hilton Head:

SIGNATURE EVENT STORYLINES: The RBC Heritage is the fifth Signature Event of the season… Erik van Rooyen , who finished T55 at the Masters, jumped into the Aon Next 10 and secured the final spot. His made cut at the Masters moved him from No. 11 to No. 10, and now he gets to tee it up at Harbour Town – a course he’s had some fine results at in the past. He finished T21 and T10 in 2020 and 2022, respectively… Nicolai Højgaard looked like he was a lock to jump into the Aon Next 10 (especially after he held the solo lead at the Masters after a birdie at No. 10 Saturday). But he stumbled into the house with five straight bogeys and finished T16. He only moved from No. 20 to No. 17 in the Aon Next 10, falling outside the number… The Aon Swing 5 was firmed up after the Valero Texas Open, with Brice Garnett , Erik Barnes , Thomas Detry , Chandler Phillips and Alejandro Tosti earning those spots… The Wells Fargo Championship is the next Signature Event on the schedule.

COMCAST BUSINESS TOUR TOP 10 UPDATES: After his Masters victory, Scottie Scheffler kept a stranglehold on the top spot of the TOUR TOP 10. He now has twice as many points as Wyndham Clark at No. 2… Xander Schauffele , who finished eighth at the Masters, moved up a spot from No. 4 to No. 3… Ludvig Åberg , on the back of his incredible runner-up in his Masters debut, skipped from No. 8 to No. 4 in the standings… Will Zalatoris jumped into the TOUR TOP 10 after his Masters top 10. He zipped from No. 16 to No. 10, bumping Stephan Jaeger outside the TOUR TOP 10… Chris Kirk and Byeong Hun An remain the only two golfers to be inside the TOUR TOP 10 every week so far this season.

FEDEXCUP: Winner receives 700 FedExCup points.

COURSE: Harbour Town Golf Links, par 71, 7,213 yards. The iconic Pete Dye/Jack Nicklaus design – lengthened slightly for 2024 – has hosted the RBC Heritage since the 1960s. It continues to challenge the best golfers in the world with its tight fairways, strategically placed bunkers and small, contoured putting surfaces. Once again, a premium will be placed on ball-striking. Two of the last three winners at Harbour Town were first in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green, while last year’s winner, Matt Fitzpatrick, was third.

72-HOLE RECORD: 262, Webb Simpson (2020)

18-HOLE RECORD: 61, David Frost (second round, 1994) and Troy Merritt (second round, 2015)

LAST TIME: For the second year in a row, a playoff was needed to decide the winner of the RBC Heritage. Jordan Spieth, who won in extra holes in 2022, was defeated in 2023 by Matt Fitzpatrick, who birdied the third playoff hole for the win. Both participants in the 2022 playoff – Spieth and Patrick Cantlay – were firmly in the mix again Sunday in 2023, with Spieth shooting a 5-under 66 in the final round. But Fitzpatrick, who shot a 3-under 68 in the finale and overcame a two-shot deficit with just five holes to play, zipped a 9-iron to within a foot on the third extra hole to top Spieth, who had two glorious chances to win (he lipped out a birdie try on the first playoff hole and his 9-foot birdie attempt on the second playoff hole ran out of gas). Cantlay finished third, a shot out of the playoff, while Xander Schauffele finished fourth and Sahith Theegala and Hayden Buckley finished tied for fifth at 14-under.

2024 Masters prize money, purse: Payouts, winnings for Scottie Scheffler, each golfer from $20 million pool

More than history and a green jacket were on the line at augusta national on sunday.

Plenty of green was up for grabs at the 2024 Masters on Sunday -- not only in the form of the famed jacket awarded to the winner of this year's tournament but also in regards to the prize money being paid out from a record-setting pool. Augusta National Golf Club announced that the 2024 Masters would have a total purse of $20 million, marking a new tournament high by $2 million and the largest payout awarded to players at one of the nation's most pristine venues.

Scottie Scheffler was the greatest beneficiary of that increased purse, capturing the $3.6 million winner's share by capturing his second Masters championship in three years . Finishing 11 under with a 4-under 68 capping a tremendous tournament, Scheffler became the fourth-youngest golfer to win two green jackets and the 10th to win two in a three-year span. The $3.6 million prize is $360,000 more than 2023 champion Jon Rahm earned a year ago.

Runner-up Ludvig Åberg achieved quite a payday in his first career major championship. Pressing Scheffler down the stretch, the young Swede scored $2.16 million for second place, a larger sum than either Danny Willett (2016) or Jordan Spieth (2015) earned for winning the green jacket.

Scheffler and Åberg were not the only players set to receive significant green by week's end. In fact, the top three were set to receive seven-figure paydays, except Collin Morikawa struggled down the stretch and entered into a three-way tie with Max Homa and Tommy Fleetwood. Morikawa lost $320,000 by bogeying the last, though he increased the take-home of Homa and Fleetwood with the trio each taking home $1.04 million. This marked the first time that the Masters had five players bring home $1 million or more.

Those among the top 11 were set to see at least $500,000 deposited into their bank accounts, and the handsome payouts trickled down the leaderboard with every golfer inside the top 36 leaving Augusta National with six figures.

so ive never been to a pga event but im going to the u.s. open and wanted to know what the procedure to get stuff off the tour vans that will be there was. do you need to know someone?

A couple of things.......

First off, you won't be able to get anywhere NEAR the "Van" unless you have credentials. So you can forget that idea.

Secondly, the equipment in the Van is for PGA Professionals only. You couldn't buy an item from them even if you could get to the Van.

Third, (and this is IMPORTANT) why do you want anything that is there? The equipment vans are probably the most misunderstood thing in the golf world. Most of the equipment there is exactly the same as what you buy off the rack. Sure, they have a few shafts that aren't available to the common guy, and there might be a clubhead or two that we can't get our hands on, but for the most part, they are there solely to provide last minute adjustments to the equipment on tour and assure that their "players" have the equipment that they need.

I know that there is a "mystique" to having equipment from the Tour, but as far as playability is concerned it isn't very different from what we can get retail. Being that this is the Open, there "might" be Reps there outside of the Vans. But they will only have product for examination and not for sale.

Also, at majors Vans are blocked off, public can't get near them.

yes but not to you, only the contestants and yes at majors you cant get anywhere near the vans...atleast the ones I have been too.

It's the US Open, not a demo day.

True....but with the state of the economy, I would not be surprised to see the manufacturers take advantage of the opportunity to advertise. Not with the Tour Van of course, but putting up booths wouldn't be out of the question.

Where can I buy tickets?

You can buy train tickets online via the Uzbekistan Railways website . This (or visiting the train station yourself) is the lowest-cost option. Tickets normally go on sale 45 days (or less) before the date of travel and there is a small commission to use this site.

Alternatively, for your convenience, we can help you buy Samarkand - Tashkent tickets in advance (subject to availability).

We provide a hassle-free service in case you face technical difficulties with the Uzbekistan Railways website or want to reduce the risk of missing out on specific tickets.

Please note that the cost of buying tickets via Advantour (and other tour agencies) is generally significantly higher than that of buying them directly from Uzbekistan Railways.
