Royal Princess Fitness Details Announced

Princess Cruises today revealed the sports and fitness features that will be aboard the new Royal Princess when the ship debuts next June. Passengers of all athletic abilities can test their mettle and keep in shape with a new outdoor jogging track and additional circuit exercises, the multi-activity Princess Sports Central, and a fitness center full of the latest equipment with a private aerobics studio for special classes.

The new sports and fitness features are detailed in the company’s latest video previewing Royal Princess, available at http://www.princess.com/learn/ships/rp/video_tours. “Many of our passengers are very active on vacation,” said Jan Swartz, executive vice president for Princess Cruises. “These new facilities will offer them state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge classes to keep up – or even step up – their fitness routines at sea.” Among the fitness facilities on Royal Princess are: Jogging Track – This new double-lane jogging track on Deck 18 features separate paths for runners and walkers. In addition, a new circuit program with unique outdoor exercise stations will be set at intervals along the track, making it the perfect place for passengers who want to burn a few extra calories or work on strength moves al fresco. This modern outdoor fitness equipment will offer a new option for those who wish to work out on deck and enjoy the sea air. The track area will be decorated with art picturing iconic global travel destinations, giving passengers the opportunity to “run around the world.” Princess Sports Central –The multi-sport area on decks 18 and 19 is designed to offer a collection of fun options, including court games, lawn activities and even a lounge for virtual gaming. The Center Court can be used for basketball, tennis, volleyball and badminton, while baseball fans can even practice their swing at the portable batting cage. Golfers will find a driving range facility, while the simulated laser shooting range offers a new onboard activity. On the upper level, the Lawn Court offers a grassy area for putting, bocce ball, croquet and lawn bowling. The Game Lounge will offer a comfortable space to meet up for games, including table tennis and virtual gaming with KinectTM systems. The cruise staff will be on hand to organize sports competitions and fun group games. Fitness Center/Aerobics Studio – The Fitness Center on Deck 17 pairs a state-of-the-art gym with spectacular ocean views. This multi-tiered facility will offer something for all fitness levels, so everyone from beginner to expert will find challenging exercise options. Passengers will find the latest in exercise equipment like treadmills, recumbent bicycles, elliptical machines, strength equipment, as well as a selection of free weights. Most equipment will feature personal TV screens, and some will even offer an interactive, virtual experience that makes exercising a bit more fun and engaging. New to Royal Princess at the back of the gym is a private aerobics studio that will host a selection of fitness classes, including some intriguing new workout options to keep passengers on their toes. Among the class options will be: TRX® – Born of the U.S. Navy SEALS, TRX suspension training bodyweight exercise is a revolutionary method of functional training. Using a TRX Suspension Trainer combined with bodyweight, participants can perform hundreds of different exercises and control the intensity by adjusting body position and angle. Classes will be held in the indoor studio as well as outside on the fitness court. MyRide – A new era in indoor cycling, MyRide offers the opportunity to ride through inspiring scenic landscapes from around the world, with varying levels of intensity controlled by the user. Body Sculpt Boot Camp – Passengers can increase muscle tone, improve muscular strength, enhance endurance and energy levels with this workout program that burns up to 700 calories in the 40 minute class. Participants will receive a take-home poster/program which outlines all the exercises and breaks the program up into four manageable workouts so they can continue their workouts after the cruise. Chi Ball Yoga – This relaxing new class uses an aromatherapy-scented ball infused with different mood-enhancing essential oils. Passengers can meet with fitness instructors in consultation rooms where they can privately discuss their fitness goals and design a workout routine. The fitness center is part of the ship’s Lotus Spa, so passengers can wind down after their workout with a relaxing massage. The 3,600-passenger Royal Princess is a new-generation ship currently under construction for Princess Cruises. Among the new features found on board will be a 50 percent larger atrium which is the social hub of the ship; a dramatic over-water SeaWalk, a top-deck glass-bottomed walkway extending more than 28 feet beyond the edge of the vessel; plush private poolside cabanas that appear to be floating on the water; a dazzling water and light show; the new Princess Live! television studio; a dedicated pastry shop; more dining options including a special Chef’s Table Lumiere, a private space that surrounds diners in a curtain of light; and balconies on all outside staterooms. The ship’s 2013 maiden season will include cruises on the line’s signature Grand Mediterranean itinerary throughout the summer, followed by Eastern Caribbean cruises beginning in the fall. Princess cruise fitness classes in 2023 + fitness center on Princess cruise ships

Princess cruise ships have fitness centers that are free to use.

Cardio machines that are on Princess cruise ships include treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and a rowing machine.

You can do your cardio with a view of the ocean!

There are also free weights and weight machines on Princess cruise ships.

There are also some Princess cruise ships that you can walk a loop, or almost a loop, around the outer area of the cruise ship.

Princess cruise ships I’ve been on where you can do this are the Sapphire Princess, Grand Princess, and Diamond Princess.

On these ships, you can walk outside on deck 7 (promenade deck), and do a loop around much of the cruise ship.

Once you get to the front of the ship, you will take stairs up to deck 8 to walk around the front of the ship.

I have also been on the Majestic Princess and it was not possible to make a loop around the cruise ship.

But you can still walk around the cruise ship! It just won’t be any formal loop.

In addition to the free fitness facilities, there are paid fitness classes.

If you get the Princess plus package or Princess premium package, there are free fitness classes included with your package.

With the Princess plus package, you get 2 free fitness classes.

With the Princess premium package, you can do as many fitness classes for free as you want.

More group fitness activities on a Princess cruise ship

In addition to the fitness classes offered by the fitness center, there may also be some other group fitness activities offered in other parts of the cruise ship.

For example, I was on a cruise ship where zumba was offered, and this was free to everyone on the cruise ship and took place on the open deck.

That zumba session was led by the cruise director, so it could also be dependent on if there’s anyone on your cruise ship who is qualified to teach zumba for example. That zumba was done by cruise director Sophie when I was on the Diamond Princess.

The entertainment team may also offer other types of group fitness activities.

This will vary by cruise ship, and the only way to know whether your cruise will offer these additional activities is to get on your cruise!

Then, you will check the Princess daily activity schedule that’s delivered to your cabin every evening or the “journeyview” of the Princess app.

There is no way to know ahead of time with certainty what specific fitness activities will be available on your cruise ship, but by looking at past daily activity schedules , you can see what might be available!

The “journey” or “journeyview” section of the Princess app might include the schedule of fitness classes on the cruise ship.

But in general, you shouldn’t expect that to be a completely updated schedule until your cruise actually starts.

What are the fitness classes on Princess?

• Morning Stretch
• Pure Barre workout
• Tour de Cycle
• YogaSix Flow
• Pure Form Pilates
• TRX Suspension Training

The fitness classes you can do on a Princess cruise ship include Pure Barre, Tour de Cycle, YogaSix Flow, Pure Form Pilates, TRX Suspension Training, and morning stretch.

Here are what each of the classes are, as described by Princess.

1. Morning stretch

Introductory stretching class emphasizing postural imbalances and tight muscle groups.

2. Pure Barre workout

Experience a signature full body Pure Barre workout.

For 30 minutes, you will be guided through a series of low-impact, high intensity isometric movements designed to improve your flexibility while strengthening and toning your body.

3. Tour de Cycle

Spin your way through the Alps and countryside on this scenic workout that stimulates a Tour de France ride.

4. YogaSix Flow

Enjoy an energizing empowering and fun 30 minute YogaSix sample class that will create space in the body, warm the muscles, and open the mind.

5. Pure Form Pilates

By focusing on your core muscles, this exercise system combines posture and controlled moves to tone and strengthen.

The class is mat-based and good for all experience levels.

6. TRX Suspension Training

Suspension training tightens your core and enables you to perform hundreds of exercises that build power, strength, flexiblity, balance, and mobility, while helping to prevent injuries, all at the intensity you choose.

Cost of fitness classes on Princess cruises

• Tour de Cycle is $20 per class
• TRX Suspension Training is $20 per class
• Pure Form Pilates is $20 per class
• Pure Barre is $30 per class
• YogaSix is $30 per class

This was the cost of fitness classes on my recent Princess cruise if you are paying for classes individually. I was on the Grand Princess in September 2023. Your cruise ship may vary!

On the cruise where I saw the list of fitness class prices, there was no morning stretch class offered.

But on the following cruise that I was on, there was a morning stretch class offered every morning.

When I went to the fitness center on the first day of the cruise, the morning stretch class was listed as a “charged class” although no cost was given for any of the classes.

But I would expect the morning stretch class to also be around $20.

What is the fitness class schedule?

If you are interested in doing fitness classes during your Princess cruise, the best thing to do is to go to the fitness center when you get on the cruise ship on the first day of the cruise.

Make the fitness center one of your first stops on embarkation day !

There may also be a fitness center staff person there so you can learn about the fitness classes offered during the cruise.

There will also likely be a sign up sheet for the fitness classes.

Even if you get free fitness classes, you will want to sign up for them.

To give you an idea of when the fitness classes may be offered on sea days and port days, below was the fitness class schedule on my recent 7-day Princess cruise, as seen on journeyview of the Princess app.

Once again, your cruise ship may vary.

Day 1 (embarkation day)

No fitness classes on the first day of the cruise , but go to the fitness center to see the fitness class schedule during your cruise!

Day 2 (glacier sea day turned full sea day)

Originally there was going to be glacier scenic cruising from 3pm to 8pm to see Hubbard Glacier, but then Hubbard Glacier was canceled so it turned into a regular sea day.

The glacier day was canceled because there was a delay in leaving the cruise port on the first day of the cruise. It was delayed because of a delay of the Alaska Railroad train that was carrying people from the land portion of a Princess cruisetour .

Day 3 (glacier sea day)

The cruise ship was in Glacier Bay National Park from 9:15am to 7:30pm, during which most of the day the only activities offered were related to Glacier Bay.

Day 4 (port day)

The cruise ship was in port from 6am to 8:15pm, in Skagway cruise port .

Day 5 (port day)

The cruise ship was in port from 6:30am to 3:30pm, in Juneau cruise port .

Day 6 (port day)

The cruise ship was in port from 10am to 5:30pm, in Ketchikan cruise port .

Day 7 (sea day)

It was a sea day!

I Tried the NEW Xponential Fitness Classes on Princess: Find out what I Thought!

Introduction

Many people would rather stab themselves in the eye with a hot poker than exercise in regular life and most wouldn’t exercise on a cruise ship unless it involved a Victorian-style four poster canopy bed in the Captain’s quarters (I can’t be the only one with that fantasy). However, some (weirdos) enjoy keeping up with their fitness routine on vacation and some, like me, use an hour at the gym as justification for the 60,000 calories they eat each day on a cruise.

So on my last cruise aboard the Discovery, I was curious to try the new fitness classes being offered by Princess as part of a new partnership with Xponential Fitness , a global franchisor of boutique fitness brands. The first three classes were launched on February 20th, 2023 and are described by Princess as follows:

• Pure Barre : a full-body workout focused on low-impact, moderate to high-intensity movements that improve strength and flexibility. • YogaSix : a full sensory yoga experience accessible to all, with a variety of classes targeting strength, agility, flexibility and balance. • StretchLab is a unique wellness concept offering assisted stretching sessions with customized flexibility services.

Here was my experience with them…

Cost: $30 (two complimentary fitness classes are included with Princess Plus and unlimited fitness classes are included with Princess Premier) Class Length: 30 Minutes Times Offered: Specific times will vary depending on ship and itinerary, but classes generally take place between 7-10am and 5-7pm. On my 5-day sailing on the Discovery Princess, there were 6 Pure Barre classes offered (either 1 or 2 classes each day).

Class Description : This workout, synchronized to music, combined elements of ballet, yoga, and pilates. It was low impact, but high intensity and targeted all the major muscle groups in a short period of time. We used a mat to work glutes and core, 2 lb weights to target arms, and a barre (think ballet, not adult beverages) to work legs. We were also provided with round resistance bands for stretching. Movements were small and repetitive and resulted in some serious burning. There were no breaks between exercises, with continuous movement for the full 30 minutes.

What I loved about Xponential Fitness’s Pure Barre class on Princess : This was a very efficient way to get a decent low resistance, full-body workout. The time went by fast (always a plus when it comes to exercise) and I enjoyed the music and instruction. The movements were easy to follow and the instructor made sure everyone’s alignment was correct, making adjustments when necessary.

What I didn’t love about Xponential Fitness’s Pure Barre class on Princess : The 2 lb weights provided were too light for me and I felt like the arm section wasn’t effective. A variety of different weight options would have been appreciated. I also thought 30 minutes was a bit too short, especially for the cost. Most non-cruise ship Pure Barre classes are 50 minutes.

Would I take a Pure Barre class again? Yes! In fact I did. I enjoyed this class so much, I signed up for a second session later in my cruise. I also wanted to see if the same series of movements was repeated (they were) or if each session was different. I would recommend this class if you’re looking for a quick, but effective workout, so you can spend more of your cruise doing what you’re supposed to be doing: eating and drinking and relaxing. However, I didn’t consider this class a very good value at the à la carte price. Most other cruise ship fitness classes are 45 minutes and closer to $20. That said, many guests on Princess will receive fitness classes as part of their cruise package (2 free classes are included with Princess Plus and unlimited classes with Princess Premier).

Thumbs up or down? Thumbs… up!

Cost: $30 (two complimentary fitness classes are included with Princess Plus and unlimited fitness classes are included with Princess Premier) Class Length: 30 Minutes Times Offered: Specific times will vary depending on ship and itinerary, but fitness classes generally take place between 7-10am and 5-7pm. On my 5-day sailing on the Discovery Princess, there were 4 YogaSix classes offered and they all took place from 9-9:30am.

Class Description : This 30 minute full-body Vinyasa yoga practice set to calming music featured popular flow sequences and poses. Participants included both newbies and experienced yogis. A mat and block were provided and the instructor offered breathing cues and pose adjustments.

What I loved about Xponential Fitness’s YogaSix class on Princess : It was yoga. And I love yoga (I don’t consider it exercise)!

What I didn’t love about Xponential Fitness’s YogaSix class on Princess : This was a short, basic yoga class and while I enjoyed it, it wasn’t comparable to what I’ve experienced in land-based classes taught by experienced yogis. Plus, most non-cruise ship yoga classes are 45-60 minutes. One other thing to note: balancing on a cruise ship, especially on rough sea days, ranges from challenging to near impossible. I looked like Bambie on ice. Only full-grown, not adorable, and possibly drunk.

Would I take a YogaSix class again? I would. Although less enthusiastically than the barre class, only because I do yoga on land and it’s so much better by comparison. I would recommend this class as a gentle introduction to yoga for newbies and a “better than nothing” experience for more advanced yogis. Like with the barre class, I didn’t consider YogaSix a very good value at the à la carte price. However, many guests on Princess will receive fitness classes as part of their cruise package (2 free classes are included with Princess Plus and unlimited classes with Princess Premier).

Thumbs up or down? Thumbs…up (but without the boldface and exclamation mark).

Cost: $30 (two complimentary fitness classes are included with Princess Plus and unlimited fitness classes are included with Princess Premier) Class Length: 25 Minutes Times Offered: There will be a sign-up sheet with 25 minute blocks. Sign up on the first day of your cruise as slots are likely to fill up.

Class Description : Unlike the other fitness classes, StretchLab is a one-on-one session with a trainer who will provide a customized stretch routine based on your individual needs. A massage table, stretch straps, and foam rollers were provided.

What I loved about Xponential Fitness’s StretchLab class on Princess : This private stretch session was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced on a cruise ship, which was the thing I loved most about it. It also left me feeling great, with some new stretching techniques to use at home.

What I didn’t love about Xponential Fitness’s StretchLab class on Princess : 25 minutes was too short. Five hours would have been more appropriate (it felt so good…more like a spa treatment than a fitness class).

Would I take a StretchLab class again? Yes! This was my favorite of the new Princess Xponential fitness classes and felt like the best value ($30 for a private session).

Final Thoughts

If you’re interested in trying one of the new classes, be sure to stop by the fitness center on embarkation day to see the schedule and sign up. You MUST sign up in person for every class and some classes WILL fill up, so do it early. While I don’t feel comfortable enthusiastically endorsing any form of exercise, I appreciate the new offerings by Princess and look forward (I guess) to trying the others coming soon (ahead of the summer season – exact dates haven’t been released yet):

• Club Pilates : a low-impact, full-body Reformer Pilates workout with a variety of classes that build strength, mobility and stability. • CycleBar : an inclusive, immersive and inspiring low-impact, high-intensity indoor cycling experience for all ages and body types. • STRIDE Fitness : a treadmill-based interval training concept, delivering a total body cardio and strength workout.

The 4,300-guest Sun Princess has the most balconies and sun decks of any Princess ship. The Star Princess is currently under construction in Italy.

Last week, Princess announced it was pushing back delivery of the ship from July 29, 2025, due to additional time needed to complete it. This has led to the cancellation of the first nine sailings. The new inaugural sailing will now depart from Barcelona on October 4, 2025.

What equipment is available at the gym/fitness center?

Our fitness center has all the equipment and facilities that major sports clubs do: weight machines, free weights, stationary spin bikes, stair steppers, treadmills, sauna, whirlpool, steam room, and thermal suites. Plus sweeping ocean views that extend for miles.

What do you know about the two free fitness classes that come with the Plus Package? How do you know when they are? Do you sign up at the gym?

here a clip from the fine prints:

Fitness Classes   is limited to 2 classes per guest during the entire voyage. Applies to in-person classes, must sign up for class on-board by visiting the fitness center. Exact class type, length, timing, schedule, availability, and other details will be determined by the ship type and by Princess in its sole discretion.

I’m following up post-cruise in case others have similar questions. The fitness staff had the schedule for the entire cruise posted the day of embarkation. I took a photo so I could refer to it and be strategic on which two classes I wanted to take. The afternoon classes were sparsely attended. One 5pm barre class was canceled because I was the only one who showed up and I felt weird being the only student. The 4pm Pilates class I attended had three people. The morning classes seemed better attended. I can’t imagine paying $30 plus an 18% tip for any of the classes if you don’t have a package, though.

Did they give you the option to still take the barre class?  I would be a little irked if I made the effort to be there on time and dressed, only to have it canceled. 

She did give me the option. I’d never done barre before so I felt like I’d be really self conscious with a private lesson.

Princess makes a big deal about the Special Fitness classes available via the Plus package. There have always been fitness classes on the Princess ships before the Plus. On our last two cruises, I was not aware of any special Plus available classes by a popular fitness program. I guess I would have to inquire about such classes. Each time I worked out. I did not see any instructors. For most people the Special Plus fitness adds little value.

Barre can be intense, but she would probably be more in a teaching mode rather than leading a class familiar with the workout.

3 hours ago, kjg46 said: I wonder if you have actually tried them?  I have.  They are the same types of fitness that I enjoy at home,  I love them.  The only caveat is that they do not offer advanced levels as they gear to the general audience. But realistically most princess cruisers aren't looking for advanced fitness.  If most of them would just fit in a simple stretch it would be game changing for them.

Mrs BV showed up at Patter time and discovered she was an hour late for the yoga class.  There was no problem with laying out her mat and giving herself a class though.

Princess Beatrice was just 17 when she started dating her tragic first love Paolo Liuzzo in 2005.

Now, his shock death from a suspected overdose in a Miami hotel comes as insiders said he’d struggled with drugs and racked up debts with loan sharks over his gambling.

Beatrice was told the news just weeks after her mum Sarah Ferguson was diagnosed with skin cancer.

Her dad Prince Andrew has been cast out by the royals over his ties to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Liuzzo had repeated run-ins with the law throughout his life, including over the death of a student and possession of cocaine.

Officer Michael Vega, of the Miami Police Department, told The Sun that police attended a room at the Miami Worldcenter hotel at 3.22pm on February 7.

Liuzzo’s time of death was given as 3.34pm.

The cause has not been publicly disclosed due to Florida public records law.

His death certificate states that he had been working as an art industry consultant and had never married.

He was listed as living at an apartment not far from the hotel.

His body was flown back to his native Long Island, New York, for a funeral on February 16.

Officer Vega said: “It was investigated as an overdose death. The investigation is open and ongoing.”

A longtime pal of Liuzzo told The Sun: “Paolo was not doing great on a personal level. He loved to party and to gamble.

“He began using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs at first but that later led to cocaine and harder drugs.

“It was a very fast lifestyle and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually.”

The friend added: “He was always borrowing money to pay off old loans. It became a vicious cycle.”

Liuzzo and Beatrice’s relationship was revealed after he was invited on her family’s ski holiday in Verbier, Switzerland, in February 2006.

Four years earlier he had been charged with the manslaughter of a student during a drunken brawl in Massachusetts.

The charge had later been downgraded to assault and battery, and Liuzzo only served a 100-hour community service sentence.

Regardless, Fergie gave the couple’s relationship the thumbs up, saying: “We all have our own journeys and have to learn our way but Beatrice is a sensible girl, soon to be 18, with many friends including Paolo.”

But the publicity surrounding his royal romance led to him being hauled back to the US for flouting the conditions of his probation, since he was only allowed to travel abroad for work.

He had his three-year probation extended by six months as punishment and Beatrice publicly ended the romance.

Paolo later said: “It was a stupid fist fight and if I had gone to trial, my lawyers were certain I’d have been found innocent.

“But if it came out that me and Bea were dating, it wouldn’t be good for her image or Sarah’s so everyone was trying to keep our relationship a secret.”

After the split he claimed Bea and Eugenie had attended a 2004 party in Jamaica where guests smoked cannabis and took magic mushrooms.

And later cruelly dismissed his relationship, with Bea, saying: “I wasn’t sure I wanted to get in that deep with Bea. I loved her but I wasn’t in love with her.”

The cad added: “Sometimes another lady friend of mine would come over to my place at Eaton Square in London. It was just messing around, never anything more, and I felt so bad afterwards because of Bea.

“I’m not a bad person. But it’s like putting heroin in front of Pete Doherty. Women are my weakness.”

In September 2009 Liuzzo was arrested on Australia’s Gold Coast after crashing his Audi hire car into traffic lights.

The then 27-year-old had failed to pay for accommodation and restaurant bills at a casino.

He was charged with motoring offences fraud and cocaine possession.

He pleaded guilty and was fined almost $5000.

No conviction was recorded but the magistrate blasted Liuzzo for his “cavalier” attitude to the court.

Public records show in recent years he had had several brushes with the law over driving offences.

Liuzzo is understood to have inherited a fortune after his dad, Italian plastic resin tycoon Nico Liuzzo died aged 62 in September 2001.

After her split from Liuzzo, Beatrice spent most of her 20s dating Virgin Galactic executive Dave Clark.

Fergie issued her approval for their coupling, saying: “I call him Mr Smiley because he smiles and he’s happy. I love Dave.”

Beatrice enrolled on a finance course in San Francisco to be close to her boyfriend after he got a job at Uber.

Despite whispers of wedding bells marriage never happened and they split by mutual agreement after ten years, in 2016.

Single Bea was then pictured with fitness trainer James Williams and CNBC host Wilfred Frost, son of journalist David Frost.

But each time suggestions of romance were shot down.

In 2018 she was confirmed to be dating Edo Mapelli Mozzi, a property developer and member of the Italian nobility.

Edo, who had a son from a former relationship, swept Beatrice off her feet and proposed marriage.

The pandemic meant they cancelled plans for a wedding at St James’s Palace, in May 2020.

Instead, they enjoyed an intimate Covid-safe wedding in July 2020, witnessed by only a handful of guests including the late Queen and Prince Philip at All Saints Chapel, Windsor.

They now have homes in London and Oxfordshire, where Edo was raised.

Liuzzo’s siblings Annalisa and Roberto Liuzzo did not respond to requests for comment on their brother’s death.

The Sun also asked the hotel for comment but did not hear back.

MSC Cruises offers plenty of family fun and activities for teens on its ships, including sports tournaments, waterslides and a family disco. On select ships, you'll also find the full-size MSC Formula Racer simulator, an interactive XD cinema, a virtual reality experience, zip lines and an arcade room. The Young Club programming by MSC Cruises offers daily activities for 12- to 14-year-old tweens, while teens 15 to 17 can participate in sports and dance competitions as well as video game tournaments at the Teen Club. Older kids can also participate in fun themed events, karaoke, piloting practice at the Drone Academy and flash mobs – and there's a teens-only disco.

On MSC Seascape , teens can stay busy in three new concept spaces. MSC World Europa boasts the largest and most engaging kids area in the fleet with an impressive 8,245 square feet of action-packed space. The new Teens Lab features an immersive area for teenagers with more than 20 of the latest consoles, seven VR stations and dozens of video games. Drone Academy 2.0 is a high-energy relay race for drones. There's even more onboard fun at Z Active, a sports program that offers basketball, football and zorb ball alongside two firsts for the line – pickleball and hoverboards. Teens can also take a spin on the bumper cars at the MSC Sportplex.

MSC Euribia – the line's newest ship, which set sail on its inaugural cruise in June 2023 – has a total of 7,500-plus square feet of space dedicated to kids ages 0 to 17. The new Teens Club Extra Space offers three different areas: the Young Club (ages 12 to 14), the Teens Club (15 to 17) and the Teens Lab (12 to 17). Some of the activities include those found on other MSC ships, such as Z Active, Drone Academy 2.0 and the MSC Dance Crew competition. Teens will also have access to new video games; pingpong; World Quest, an interactive game show based on trivia and geography; and Caravaggio, an immersive spy game show about an art heist.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line boasts a teens-only venue, Entourage, which caters to young adults 13 to 17 years old. This supervised space – available on 16 of the line's 19 ships – keeps teens busy in an adults-free lounge that's filled with video games, movies, music, arts and sports. Teen counselors on Norwegian Cruise Line plan activities and challenges to keep kids entertained throughout the cruise. A list of detailed activities is available on embarkation day so teens can plan out their schedule for the cruise.

Norwegian Prima , the first vessel in the Prima class, features many first-at-sea innovations perfect for entertaining families and energetic teens, including the three-level Prima Speedway. With cars reaching up to 30 miles per hour, this quarter-mile-long racetrack is one of the highest-rated attractions on Prima. Adventurous teens will also want to check out The Drop and The Rush. Billed as the fastest slides at sea, these chutes offer thrill-seekers a heart-pumping 10-story freefall plunge.

If that's not enough action, teens can also play The Bull's Eye, a classic game of darts that uses a video tracking system, or check out Tee Time for a pumped-up version of mini-golf set against a Las Vegas backdrop. In the Galaxy Pavilion, an indoor gaming complex, you'll find more than a dozen attractions, including immersive simulator experiences, escape rooms and the Topgolf Swing Suite – all of which are unique to Norwegian Prima. When it's time to cool off, the Tidal Wave waterslide is another first for the brand, letting guests ride inner tubes to catch the surf.

Norwegian Viva, the second vessel in the Prima class, is set to launch in August 2023. As the newest ship in NCL's fleet, Viva will also feature these exciting high-tech attractions, including Viva Speedway. If you and your teens are fans of the movie "Beetlejuice," you're in for a treat: The Broadway musical adaptation will debut on the new ship.

Disney Cruise Line features two cool spaces dedicated to teens and tweens, who can hang out on comfy couches, watch shows or movies, and play video games. These hangouts, called Edge (for ages 11 to 14) and Vibe (ages 14 to 17), are available on all Disney Cruise Line ships.

On Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream , the space at Vibe also features a private outdoor deck with chaise lounges, wading pools, foosball and more. While indoors, teenagers can mingle with others their age, or just kick back and relax in individual nooks. There's a dance club area for karaoke contests, talent shows and dance competitions. The trendy indoor-outdoor space – at almost 9,000 square feet – is accessible with a teens-only card or DisneyBand+. On the new Disney Wish ship, Vibe has a French twist inspired by a Paris artist's loft with neon signs and funk pop art.

For tweens sailing on Disney Fantasy or Dream, Edge is a bright, loft-style gathering spot – located in the funnel – that has individual computer stations for gaming and a massive video wall for screening television, movies and games. There's also a lit-up dance floor for dance parties. Two nifty features of the space – and its location – are views of the pool decks below as well as three portholes that allow for glimpses of the riders on the water coaster, AquaDuck, as they zoom by.

On the first night of the cruise, kids receive information on what activities and events will be available during their vacation so they can curate a personalized entertainment itinerary. Some fun options throughout the week may include "Gotcha," a game of elimination where one teen will become the ultimate victor. The newly updated space for teens 13 to 17 years old on Royal Caribbean International vessels is hidden behind a secret speakeasy entrance. The dedicated venue, which has a gaming lounge and music, is a cozy place to hang out to meet other teens on the ship. There's also an outdoor patio where you can relax in the sun or chill out under the stars. Teens will find planned activities throughout the day at the lounge, including sports tournaments, a nightly teen disco and themed parties.

Social 100 is an exclusive new space for ages 13 to 17 on Wonder of the Seas . The outdoor space sits next to the waterslides and boasts a hot tub, lawn games, cozy seating, a selfie area, and a bar serving zero-proof cocktails and shakes. The indoor part of Social 100 features a gaming area, foosball tables, a vending machine and more comfortable spaces for teens to mingle.

Teens have plenty of activities they can do with their families on Royal Caribbean's ships, especially on the new Icon of the Seas, the first vessel in the Icon class. Slated for its inaugural sailing in January 2024, Wonder of the Seas will be the  world's largest cruise ship .  Cruisers of all ages will have endless opportunities for fun with more venues, activities and attractions than you've ever seen on a cruise ship.

Teens and their parents will appreciate Chill Island, a three-level pool deck with the first swim-up bar at sea. The new water park, Thrill Island, boasts six waterslides, including exciting firsts at sea, such as Pressure Drop, the first open freefall slide. If that's not enough to get the adrenaline pumping, teens can check out Crown's Edge – a combination thrill ride, skywalk and ropes course – or other Royal Caribbean favorites like Adrenaline Peak, Sports Court, the FlowRider surf simulator or the reimagined mini-golf course.

If you're hanging out in the new Surfside neighborhood on Icon, a dedicated space for young families, teens will have easy access to the supervised teens-only club, Social 020, from this open-air space.

When you head ashore to Perfect Day in CocoCay, one of the best  cruise line private islands , teen cruisers will find plenty of fun land-based activities like Thrill Waterpark and 1,600-foot-long zip lines. The Kids Club on Holland America Line offers a fun supervised program for 13- to 17-year-old guests in an adult-free zone known as The Loft. The name is in the process of changing to High Score!, and you'll already find the updated concept on Oosterdam and Eurodam . The line's other ships will change over to the new venue throughout 2024. High Score! is a family game room that serves as a secret getaway for teens by day. In the evenings, entire families can come to play skeeball, board games and join in other activities.

The teens-only space (during the day) on Holland America Line resembles a New York artists loft where kids can listen to music, watch movies, play games and meet and hang out with same-age cruisers. Programs and activities at the current space, The Loft, include themed events, karaoke, a teen disco and nighttime activities such as Poker Night and video game tournaments. Youths can also participate in pingpong, basketball and other teens-only sporting events. If they still need more entertainment to keep them busy, the Kids Club offers origami lessons and watercolor painting as well as competitions in "Mario Kart," air hockey, foosball, pinball and more.

The Kids Club is complimentary for guests. The space is open daily, and you'll also find teen events around the ship. When it comes to dining, there are many teen-friendly dining options – where teens can even enjoy mocktails like nonalcoholic mojitos – at venues throughout the ship.

If you're cruising to Alaska with Holland America or other adventure-filled destinations, look for excursions that will appeal to younger family members like zip lining tours, trail hikes, float trips, helicopter tours and wilderness safaris. Alaska is a teen favorite, especially in Skagway (one of Alaska's top destinations ), where travelers can get a thrill out of dog mushing with a team of Alaskan huskies, taking a ride on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad, or going on a rock climbing excursion.

The modern Beach House lounge is the go-to place for passengers ages 13 to 17 to socialize and meet others their age when sailing on a Princess Cruises ship. Fun activities for teens include late-night movies and tournaments where they can challenge their peers in video games or at air hockey, foosball and table tennis. For more energetic activities, join in the fun during indoor dodgeball and basketball games. Or, learn new dance moves from some of the dancers in the crew, then hit the dance floor for one of the competitions. At the "Rock the Boat Party," teenagers can dress up and party the night away with mocktails and new friends on the ship.

"Movies Under the Stars" is one of Princess' signature events. Guests can watch movies, sporting events and concerts while bundled up with cozy blankets on the pool deck outdoors. Teens will enjoy the complimentary snacks – not to mention the special movie nights designed with them in mind, such as "Scary Movie Night." You might even find teen makeovers and glitter tattoos some evenings on the ship.

The line's three newest ships – Discovery Princess , Enchanted Princess and Sky Princess – offer the most activities for teens, but all of the ships in the fleet host youth programs in partnership with Discovery, along with plenty of other family-friendly activities. These offerings include Discovery Family and Animal Planet shore excursions and onboard entertainment like "The Voice of the Ocean," a musical competition.

Parents will be able to keep track of their busy teens anywhere on the ship with the state-of-the-art Princess MedallionClass system. The quarter-size wearable medallion and accompanying app allow guests to personalize their itinerary and locate family members and friends on board.

When Sun Princess launches in February 2024, as the first vessel in the line's Sphere class, it will feature Park19. This top-deck family activity zone boasts many outdoor adventures, including Sea Breeze – the first Rollglider at sea. The ADA-accessible seated ride offers a hang-gliding experience with panoramic views of the ocean and ports of call. Families and teens can also check out the climbing obstacle course, cargo nets and lookout points. The ship also has a recreational court – which offers pingpong, shuffleboard, fitness classes and more – and a splash zone where you can cool off after all the outdoor activities.

Inside Sun Princess, tweens and teens will find two centers just for them: Neon Grove and The Underground. Both spaces offer cozy and colorful areas for young adults to hang out, socialize, and play video games on the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Adventures by Disney

Adventures by Disney offers river and expedition cruises for the whole family; the itineraries span many choices and experiences for tweens and teens with a focus on culture, history, gastronomy and adventure. The river cruises are operated in partnership with AmaWaterways, while the expedition cruises are a collaboration with luxury French cruise line Ponant.

If you're sailing on the Adventures by Disney Rhine River Cruise itinerary, for example, guests can choose between various exciting excursions. While you're docked in Strasbourg, France , for the day, teen-friendly options include a tour of the Black Forest, complete with a toboggan run and a visit to a woodworking museum. Another choice here is to visit Germany's Europa-Park, a one-of-a-kind theme park located between the Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains. In Melk, Austria, on the Danube itinerary, families can go for a bike ride along the Danube River, hike to the castle in Dürnstein or visit a family-run apricot farm.

Another great feature of these cruises is that teens can opt to have dinner and evening get-togethers with same-age cruisers, so they don't have to dine with their parents or younger siblings every night. Adventure Guides also curate special activities for teens like game shows and pool parties.

In destinations like Antarctica, the Adriatic and the Galápagos Islands , expert naturalists lead tours during these bucket list trips. You might even find a bit of Disney storytelling woven into the presentations by the Adventure Guides.

Keep in mind if you have younger kids as well as teens that children need to be 5 or older to sail on the river cruises. For the Galápagos Islands expedition cruises, the minimum age for Junior Adventurers is 7, and for expeditions to the polar regions, kids need to be 10 years of age or older.

Carnival Celebration, which launched in November 2022, is the line's newest Excel-class ship. It features an expanded family and youth program, including its offerings for teens. The line also rolled out the new program fleetwide in spring 2023.

The Carnival Cruise Line teen programming at Circle "C" is for tweens ages 12 to 14, while Club O2 is for ages 15 to 17. In these venues you'll find entertainment like themed dance parties – and even a Carnival prom – as well as video games, movies and karaoke. Circle "C" stands for "Cruise, chill and connect," and that's what teens can do in this colorful, contemporary space with engaging counselors. New activities include anime drawing lessons and pop culture games at Circle "C." Older teens can foster new friendships while engaging in Japanese crafts and authentic tea ceremonies at Club O2.

Teens will appreciate Carnival's onboard water park, Waterworks, which includes a splash park and slides. Carnival Panorama even has the trampoline park Skyzone. Teenage passengers won't want to miss the first roller coaster at sea, BOLT, on Excel-class ships: Mardi Gras , Celebration and the upcoming Jubilee, scheduled to launch in December 2023.

For even more action, Vista-class ships feature Skyride. This two-lane, bike-like ride is suspended above the top deck of the ships and extends out over the ocean. This line's Teen Club features activities focused on kids 13 to 17. Some of the events offered for teens in the Camp at Sea program on Celebrity Cruises range from video game tournaments and sports competitions to culinary classes and silent disco parties. Teen cruisers can even book glass-blowing classes on Celebrity Solstice , Equinox and Eclipse . The offerings for young passengers are similar at either The Basement on Edge-series ships ( Edge , Apex , Beyond and Ascent, set to launch in November 2023) or at X Club on Solstice- and Millennium-class ships. Note, however, the line's three Galápagos expedition vessels do not have the teen venues. Families who need accessible accommodations, activities and programs will also find autism-friendly cruises on Celebrity.

When it comes to pampering, Celebrity's spas offer spa menus for 13- to 17-year-olds. Teens can book facials that are designed for young sensitive skin or have express pedicures and manicures. When you're ready to relax, schedule a two-by-two massage, where parents and kids can have a side-by-side treatment.

Celebrity also offers family-focused excursions that highlight cultural attractions, wildlife sightings and adventure. Some of these tours include seeing gentoo, king and Magellanic penguins in the Falkland Islands; taking an aerial tram through the treetop canopies of a rainforest in Costa Rica ; and going on a small culinary or sightseeing group excursion in Europe and other destinations around the world. Cunard Line

Cunard Line offers programs and activities for passengers ages 13 to 17 years old in its Teen Zone. This dedicated space is a place for teens to hang out with cruisers their own age and play video and team games, table tennis, and more. On the first day of the cruise, you'll find an activity program for young guests delivered to the stateroom so your teens can plan out their vacation experience, which may include entertaining theme days, deck sports, quizzes and dancing at the disco.

Teens on Cunard Line can participate in the activities around the ship, hit the pool for a dip, practice their putting or try their hand at croquet. If you're sailing on Queen Mary 2, those interested in science, wildlife and the solar system can watch up to four 3D films a day (on sea days) in the largest planetarium at sea.

Regal Princess Fitness Facilities Keep Guests Active

Guests of all athletic abilities can test their mettle and keep in shape with Regal Princess’ fitness facilities, including a new outdoor jogging track and additional circuit exercises, the multi-activity Princess Sports Central, and a fitness center full of the latest equipment with a private aerobics studio for special classes.

Among the fitness facilities on Regal Princess are:

Jogging Track – A double-lane jogging track on Deck 18 features separate paths for runners and walkers. In addition, a circuit program with unique outdoor exercise stations set at intervals along the track makes it the perfect place for guests who want to burn a few extra calories or work on strength moves al fresco . This modern outdoor fitness equipment will offer another option for those who wish to work out on deck and enjoy the sea air. The track area is decorated with art picturing iconic global travel destinations, giving guests the opportunity to “run around the world.”

Princess Sports Central –The multi-sport area on decks 18 and 19 is designed to offer a collection of fun options, including court games, lawn activities and even a lounge for virtual gaming. The Center Court can be used for basketball, tennis, volleyball and badminton, while baseball fans can even practice their swing at the portable batting cage. Golfers will find a driving range facility, while the simulated laser shooting range offers a new onboard activity. On the upper level, the Lawn Court offers a grassy area for putting, bocce ball, croquet and lawn bowling. The Game Lounge offers a comfortable space to meet up for games, including table tennis and virtual gaming with Kinect TM systems. The cruise staff will be on hand to organize sports competitions and fun group games.

Fitness Center/Aerobics Studio – The Fitness Center on Deck 17 pairs a state-of-the-art gym with spectacular ocean views. This multi-tiered facility offers something for all fitness levels, so everyone from beginner to expert will find challenging exercise options. Guests will find the latest in exercise equipment like treadmills, recumbent bicycles, elliptical machines, strength equipment, as well as a selection of free weights. Most equipment features personal TV screens, and some even offer an interactive, virtual experience that makes exercising a bit more fun and engaging.

At the back of the gym Regal Princess features a private aerobics studio that will host a selection of fitness classes, including some intriguing new workout options to keep guests on their toes. Among the class options will be:

• TRX ® – Born of the U.S. Navy SEALS, TRX suspension training bodyweight exercise is a revolutionary method of functional training. Using a TRX Suspension Trainer combined with bodyweight, participants can perform hundreds of different exercises and control the intensity by adjusting body position and angle. Classes will be held in the indoor studio as well as outside on the fitness court.
• MyRide – A new era in indoor cycling, MyRide offers the opportunity to ride through inspiring scenic landscapes from around the world, with varying levels of intensity controlled by the user.
• Body Sculpt Boot Camp – Guests can increase muscle tone, improve muscular strength, enhance endurance and energy levels with this workout program that burns up to 700 calories in the 40 minute class. Participants will receive a take-home poster/program which outlines all the exercises and breaks the program up into four manageable workouts so they can continue their workouts after the cruise.
• Chi Ball Yoga – This relaxing new class uses an aromatherapy-scented ball infused with different mood-enhancing essential oils.

Guests can meet with fitness instructors in consultation rooms where they can privately discuss their fitness goals and design a workout routine.
