MAMAMOO has established themselves as unrivaled icons of K-Pop, having sold out more than twenty concerts since their first one in 2016. MAMAMOO is set to rock some of the biggest cities in the U.S. this summer with the same excitement and passion that has endeared them to their global fandom with each performance since their debut.

The tour will see all four members, Solar, Moon Byul, Whee In, and Hwa Sa, join hands once again, ready to take the stage in premier venues across the country; a complete list of the tour dates is listed below.

MAMAMOO’s first song, “Mr. Ambiguous,” debuted in 2014 and cemented their position as a mainstream K-pop knockout. Their launch was considered by some critics as one of the best K-pop debuts of 2014. They are recognized for their retro, jazz, R&B concepts and their strong vocal performances. Their song “HIP” is their first music video to hit 370 million views on YouTube and 210 million streams on Spotify, since their release in 2019. The quartet is known for being daring and breaking the rules in K-pop with their progressive fashion style, challenging the Korean music norms for women, and their girl boss attitude. MAMAMOO promotes being an independent woman with no restrictions. Hwa Sa is the most successful soloist, with her hit song “Maria” (2020) breaking records with more than 270 million views on YouTube. The recently released single, “ILLELLA,” encapsulates the unique talent and versatility of all four members.

The K-Pop world addresses many topics but there's one uncomfortable discussion that severely needs addressing, gender inequality.

Liberating vs Shameful: An Analysis On Skin Exposure For Male And Female Idols

Calvin Klein

The progression of K-Pop has been a nonstop constant in today's trends and social media. New groups are debuting by the minute and gathering the attention of millions worldwide. K-Pop fans are known as some of the world's strongest fanbases, and the music genre has seen unprecedented success like never before.

With the rise of K-Pop, a concerning topic is discussed within the community. Gender inequality is rampant between many male and female idols. In K-pop, the treatment of male and female idols regarding skin exposure often reflects broader societal norms and expectations around gender and modesty. When it comes to female and male idols, the picture-perfect ideology that is pushed onto them turns out harmful when stepping out of that comfort zone. The unfairness of these ideologies has been further perpetuated as groups continue to debut. Girl groups are supposed to be "innocent" and cute, nearly crossing the line of emulating a young girl. Boy groups are displayed as cool and masculine, showing off their boyhood and manliness in various forms.

One of the topics under the umbrella of gender inequality is skin exposure between the two genders. Female idols tend to face jarring restrictions when it comes to skin exposure. From Calvin Klein campaigns to the "MAMA Awards", the responses to opposite genders exposing their skin have been drastically different. We're going to look at cases where treatment over skin exposure was drastically different for female idols compared to their male counterparts.

A Simple Question Turned To Body Shaming And Hate

Calvin Klein is a major name in the fashion industry. They're best characterized by their famous underwear and denim items. Celebrities are common ambassadors for the company and recently, more idols have participated in their campaigns. Some notable names include BLACKPINK 's Jennie and BTS 's JungKook . Calvin Klein took to X to ask followers who they believed should be in a Calvin Klein campaign to the pleasure of many K-Pop fans. The two idols were top names mentioned in the comments due to their captivating physique and global status. However, people noticed when it came to Jennie there was an influx of body shaming and disparaging comments. It got so severe, Calvin Klein's X account stepped in to make a statement.

We embrace this platform as an inclusive environment for individualism and self-expression. At Calvin Klein, we tolerate everything except intolerance. Please be respectful towards each other or your comment may be removed. — calvinklein (@CalvinKlein) January 31, 2023

It's interesting to see this as many male idols have participated in campaigns but did not receive much backlash, such as WonHo and EXO' s Lay Zhang . They were often praised due to their muscular and lean frames. While JungKook was not sparred from hateful comments and faced scrutiny, Jennie was doused with an influx of hate and even in her previous works with the luxury brand, she was bashed for showing off her body. If it's sexy and desired by male K-Pop idols, why do female K-Pop idols get bombarded with hate?

Liberating vs Shameful: An Analysis On Skin Exposure For Male And Female Idols

Calvin Klein's Official Twitter

Same Situation, Different Headlines for "2018 MAMA Awards"

One of the most infamous cases of skin exposure is between MAMAMOO 's HwaSa and WonHo. During the "2018 MAMA Awards", both idols took to the stage to give off powerful performances. HwaSa dawned a striking red leather one-piece, one that imitated a swimsuit. The singer received many mixed reactions to her choice of styling. Many netizens felt she took it a bit too far, having a good portion of her bottom half exposed.

They even went as far as to call her embarrassing because of the outfit choice. The situation grew to such a large scale that RBW Entertainment made a statement, expressing that they didn't expect the attention and the outfit matched the song. HwaSa never shies away from expressing her inner femininity and sexy confidence. She's always been known to embrace diverse styles that express what she is all about, unwavering, seductive, confidence. Unfortunately, netizens do not share the same beliefs as her.

Ironically, at the same "2018 MAMA Awards" WonHo displayed an impressive performance and showed off his muscular physique during it. The headlines and reactions were exceptionally different and it's almost ridiculous. He received many headlines stating "Masculine stage unfolded" whereas HwaSa's articles focused more on the controversy regarding her outfit.

Even with her amazing vocals and breathtaking performance, it was overshadowed due to her outfit. WonHo is prided as a masculine, sexy idol in the industry. He has numerous shoots, performances, and videos where he exposes his body. It's no coincidence that WonHo is praised for his confidence whereas HwaSa is shamed for hers, despite both idols having sexier concepts. This can be seen as blatant double standards in the idol world. The perpetual stereotypes put on female idols are why HwaSa is constantly shamed and claimed an embarrassment to the genre.

Fans' Opinions?

When asked about the difference when a male and female idol deciding to show more skin, fans expressed their disdain over the topic. They believe there is a clear line between praising and chastizing when it comes to skin exposure in K-Pop.

Most kpop fans love seeing male idols show their abs and fawn over it but if a female idol's shirt is too low cut and shows cleavage people lose their minds. The double standard doesn’t make any sense. Alexia, USA

Fans want their girl groups to stay wholesome and cute, while their male idol counterparts get to explore risqué and dark concepts. It would be interesting to see the gender and age demographic of male and female idols. I want to see how each fanbase treats groups about what they wear, say, and do. Landy, South Korea

It's hypocritical to shame female artists for wearing "revealing " clothing and then say nothing when male idols go on stage and walk around with no shirts on. They even encourage the male idols, asking for shirtless pics during fan calls, and talking about their bodies but then get upset if a female idol wears a short skirt or scandalous top during promotions. LeAndre, USA

While this debate is constantly talked about, female idols still choose to break away from standard labels. Girl groups and soloists are experimenting with mature concepts and riskier outfits, pushing back against the strictness. Additionally, there are instances where male idols faced criticism for overly revealing outfits or behavior, highlighting the evolving conversations around gender and representation in K-Pop. What are your thoughts about the gender inequality in K-Pop? Do you believe there's unfairness when it comes to skin exposure? Let us know on X !

CK Star Entertainment is proud to present the Singapore stop, also the only stop in South East Asia, “MoonByul 1ST WORLD TOUR IN SINGAPORE [MUSEUM : an epic of starlit]”, at Capitol Theatre on Apr. 13 2024 (Saturday), 8PM.

MoonByul officially debuted as a member of MAMAMOO in 2014. The group is known for their strong vocal abilities, stable live performances and versatility across genres. Her official position in the group puts her in charge of rap and performance, but the multi-talented artist also boasts stellar vocal skills, having been originally trained as a vocalist.

In 2018, MoonByul marked her start as a soloist with the release of her Single Album “Selfish” (2018). The title track of the same name featured her close friend SeulGi of Red Velvet , who also appeared in the music video.

Two years later, she released her first Extended Play (EP) “Dark Side of the Moon” (2020) to much critical acclaim, soaring to the top of the iTunes Top Album Chart, and achieving the Top 5 position in ten other regions worldwide. Industry giants Rolling Stone and Billboard commended the release, praising MoonByul for her bold artistic vision and “fierce duality as both a singer and rapper”. The album’s lead single 'Eclipse' (2020) also achieved a peak position of 14 on Billboard’s World Digital Songs Sales chart.

With the ardent support of her dedicated fans, “MOOMOO”, MoonByul has been able to build a solid solo career. In a span of just two years, she has held 3 successful solo concerts — Online concert “門OON” in 2020, and physical concerts “Director's Cut : 6equence”, and “Director's Cut : Japan Special Live” both in 2022.

Her upcoming tour, “MoonByul 1ST WORLD TOUR [MUSEUM : an epic of starlit]” signals her triumphant comeback to solo activities, alongside the release of her first Full Album “Starlit of Muse” (2024). The 12-track album with 2 lead singles 'TOUCHIN&MOVIN' (2024) and 'Think About' (2024) reached first place on the iTunes Top Albums Chart in ten different regions and 101,720 album sales in its first week.

Here’s How Taylor Swift Should Update Her Eras Tour Setlist to Include ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

The crowd was chanting "More!"

Taylor Swift

Leading up to the release of Taylor Swift ‘s The Tortured Poets Department , one question lingered in the backs of Swiftie minds for months: How would the new album affect the already three-hour-plus setlist of the pop star’s ongoing global Eras Tour?

When the record finally dropped April 19, bringing with it not just 16 pre-announced tracks, but 15 surprise bonus songs as well, their concerns were only exacerbated. How could Swift possibly slim down her pre- Tortured Poets setlist to fit any new material once she hit the road again? Where would she even begin selecting just a handful of the 31 songs on TTPD to include? Would she even bother trying? (Based on a video the singer posted of recent rehearsals for her next run of shows, which kicks off May 9 in Paris, the answer to that last question is most likely a “Yes.”)

It’s no small task, especially given that no matter what the “Anti-Hero” singer cuts or adds, some fans are bound to be upset when their favorites inevitably don’t make the final listing. Even so, Billboard has risen to the challenge, selecting the best possible collection of Tortured Poets tracks to represent Swift’s newest era while trimming the fat of past eras for an updated, ultimate dream Eras Tour setlist.

Some songs were hard to say good-bye to (sorry, “Mastermind”), and others were truly painful to not extend an invitation (don’t hate us, “Guilty as Sin?”). But in service of a well-rounded, comprehensive Eras experience, difficult decisions had to be made. Keep reading to see how Swift should move forward with her trek, Tortured Poets and all — plus, an idea on how her debut album Taylor Swift can finally get its flowers — below.

ACT I: 'Lover'

  • “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince”
  • “Cruel Summer”
  • “The Man”
  • “You Need to Calm Down”
  • “Lover”

CUT: “The Archer”

Note: Swift could also probably benefit from shortening her meandering pre-“The Man” monologue in Act I to save room for more songs later on.

ACT II: 'Fearless'

  • “Fearless”
  • “You Belong With Me”
  • “Love Story”

Note: At three songs, the Fearless era is already the perfect length, holistically comprised of the album’s title track and its two breakthrough hits, which made Swift a global star. No room for cuts here.

ACT III: 'Evermore'

  • “‘Tis the Damn Season”
  • “Willow”
  • “Champagne Problems”
  • “Tolerate It”

CUT: “Marjorie”

Note: Swift definitely deserves to drink in the applause for a moment after her magnificent piano performance of “Champagne Problems,” but at past Eras shows, she’s allowed the ovations to last for upwards of eight minutes . To save room for more songs, she may want to keep things moving at future stops.

ACT IV: 'Reputation'

  • “…Ready For It?”
  • “Delicate”
  • “Don’t Blame Me”
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”

Note: If you’ve been to an Eras show, you know: There’s no messing with the Reputation set. The already ear-splitting crowd somehow gets even louder as soon as this first notes of “Ready For It” blast through the speakers, and the stadium stays at peak volume throughout the traditional “1, 2, 3, Let’s go b–ch” chant during “Delicate” and the seamless transition between “Don’t Blame Me” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” No cuts.

ACT V: 'Speak Now'

  • “Enchanted”
  • “Long Live”

Note: Justice for Speak Now . Swift’s third album deserves a proper showcase each night, so we sincerely hope that the pop star doesn’t scrap “Long Live” — which she only added to the setlist four months into the Eras Tour’s first leg — to make room for TTPD.

ACT VI: 'Red'

  • “22”
  • “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
  • “I Knew You Were Trouble”
  • “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”

Note: It may seem like an easy time-saver to simply swap out the ten-minute version of “All Too Well” for Swift’s original five-minute version, but doing so would be robbing Swifties of the best ten-minute segment in the entire show. We simply won’t hear of it. That song aside, the other three hits on this mini-set — similar to the Fearless era — form a perfect bite-sized capsule of the album they represent, leaving no excess behind.

ACT VII: 'Folklore'

  • “Betty”
  • “August”
  • “Illicit Affairs” (Bridge Only)
  • “My Tears Ricochet”
  • “Cardigan”

CUTS: “The 1” / “Invisible String” & “The Last Great American Dynasty”

Note: Sorry, Folklorians: It’ll always have a special place at the heart of the Eras Tour show, but Swift has now released three new albums since her initial alt-folk pivot — hence the harsher cuts here.

ACT VIII: '1989'

  • “Style”
  • “Blank Space”
  • “Shake It Off”
  • “Wildest Dreams”
  • “Bad Blood”

Note: It’s almost impossible to imagine cutting any of the five songs on the 1989 setlist, each of them massive, stadium-rocking hits a full ten years after their original release (three of them peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Wildest Dreams” and “Style” reached Nos. 5 and 6, respectively). A time-saving mashup between two or more of them could, however, be an avenue to explore if needed, with a majority of the tracks boasting similar keys and corresponding musical styles.

INTERLUDE: Surprise Songs

  • Surprise Song No. 1
  • Surprise Song No. 2

Note: It’s safe to assume that the nightly surprise song section will be where Swift makes up for unused Tortured Poets songs, giving fans the chance to hear acoustic versions of the 20+ tracks on her newest album that probably won’t make it onto the regular setlist .

ACT IX: 'Midnights'

  • “Lavender Haze”
  • “Anti-Hero”
  • “Vigilante Shit”
  • “Bejeweled”
  • “Karma”

CUTS: “Midnight Rain” & “Mastermind”

Note: The only non-single to remain safe, “Vigilante Shit” would’ve been next on the chopping block. But honestly — what would the Eras Tour be without Swift’s iconic sultry, Chicago -esque dance break?

ACT X: 'The Tortured Poets Department'

  • “Fortnight”
  • “The Tortured Poets Department”
  • “Down Bad”
  • “So Long, London”
  • “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?”
  • Mashup: “Teardrops on My Guitar” x “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”
  • “But Daddy I Love Him”

Note: As Swift’s newest album, Tortured Poets deserves to be the finale. And while, upon first listen, the record may not seem like it has enough stadium-ready bops to close out the show, the above songs 100% have the potential to be converted into the high-energy moments the Eras Tour commands. Just imagine the theatrical potential of “Who’s Afraid,” the meta-ness of a real-life crowd chanting “More!” during “Broken Heart,” and confetti falling from the sky during the final chorus of “But Daddy…” We picture gothic visuals, writing desks, typewriter props, period costumes and lightning strikes during this section.

Now, about that mashup. It’s absurd that Swift has never included any songs from her 2006 self-titled debut album — aka her first-ever era — on the main Eras Tour setlist. But it’s not too late to rectify that.

Picture this: The lights go down after Swift performs “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” Costumes change, a tiger cage and other circus-themed set pieces are wheeled away. Then, the songwriter — her silhouette barely visible under the dim glow of an aquamarine spotlight — sings a cappella the final chorus of the first song about faking smiles in the face of heartbreak she ever released: “Teardrops on My Guitar.” Emphasis on the lyric, “the only one who’s got enough of me to break my heart.”

After she trails off on the last line — “Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won’t see” — the stadium comes to life once more as the crowd’s multi-color light-up bracelets go haywire, an explosion of sound filling the space. “I can read your mind,” Swift jumps in, surrounded by dancers as the lights suddenly go up, revealing one last fabulous costume. “‘She’s having the time of her life…'”

Once that’s done, she’ll move on to the finale, flipping off the haters, embracing her truest fans and proudly proclaiming her love for the man of her dreams in one fell swoop with “But Daddy I Love Him,” disappearing offstage before concertgoers have even finished singing along. Fin.

New Footage From Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' Rehearsals Hint at 'TTPD' Set

Taylor Swift might be gearing up to hold a Tortured Poets Department board meeting in the middle of her European Eras Tour concerts.

Swift, 34, uploaded a video of her tour prep to YouTube Shorts on Thursday, April 25, with the caption, "A fortnight till Paris." In the clip, Swift practiced her setlist alongside her backup dancers.

While eagle-eyed fans noticed that Swift had run through performances of the likes of "Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince" and "Karma," they also noticed snippets from a few numbers that had seemingly never been seen on stage.

In one instance, Swift played a white guitar and fans clocked that ivory hue matches the iconography of her new album , The Tortured Poets Department . There also appears to be a desk positioned on stage at one point in the video that could be another reference to the department. In another clip, Swift - wearing her now-viral PopFlex Active skort - leaned against a railing with white letters in the center. Fans have speculated the letters spell out "TTPD."

Breaking Down Taylor Swift's Remaining ‘Eras Tour' Schedule

"That's the TTPD logo on the railing," one user pointed out via X. "Omg TTPD is getting her own set at The Eras Tour !"

Swift also wore black lace-up heels as she posed on the railing, which other social media users compared to the similar Victorian-inspired pumps she sported in her "Fortnight" music video with Post Malone . ("Fortnight" is also the lead single off of TTPD.)

Another moment in the YouTube clip shows Swift surrounded by her backup dancers, the latter of whom are wearing circus-inspired top hats. Fans believe it is teeing up a TTPD performance of "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" because of the big top lyrical reference, "I was tame, I was gentle 'til the circus life made me mean / ‘Don't you worry, folks, we took out all her teeth."

Another social media fan speculated: "Why do I feel like these are definitely rehearsal pics for TTPD songs ‘cause when have we ever had the dancers with hats and sticks."

A selection of Swifties even think that they figured out the entire TTPD set that will be added based on an Instagram post by Pandora. The streaming station posted a "What song are you listening to next from The Tortured Poets Department?" graphic, specifically naming "Fortnight," "The Alchemy," "But Daddy I Love Him" "Down Bad" and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart." Swift's official fan account, Taylor Nation, reshared the upload onto its Instagram Story page on Thursday.

One of Apple Music's Swift-themed playlists, aptly titled "Taylor Swift Essentials," has since been updated to include "Fortnight" and "Down Bad," which other fans think further tease setlist plans. Apple's official Eras "Setlist" playlist, however, has not been updated to include any TTPD hits.

Swift kicked off her Eras Tour in March 2023, traversing the United States and Central America to perform her sold-out show before beginning the international leg. Following overseas shows in Japan, Australia and Singapore earlier this year, Swift has currently been on a month long hiatus.

The Grammy winner's next show is in Paris on Thursday, May 9, but she has not publicly revealed if or how the set list is changing to accommodate TTPD . It is also possible that the newly released tracks could pop up during her acoustic "surprise song" section .

Taylor Swift Is ‘Fired Up’ to Return to ‘Eras Tour’ After ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ Success

Taylor Swift Is Fired Up to Return to Eras Tour After ‘The Tortured Poets Department Success

Taylor Swift is just as excited as her fans to resume her Eras Tour , all thanks to the streaming success of The Tortured Poets Department.

“My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album,” Swift, 34, wrote via X on Sunday, April 27, sharing snaps from the TTPD recording process. “2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed.”

She continued, “I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough.”

Swift released TTPD , her 11th studio album, on April 19 with plenty of tortured poetry about exes Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy , plus declarations of love for now-boyfriend Travis Kelce . The album dropped during Swift’s hiatus from The Eras Tour , which she started in March 2023 to celebrate all of her past records.

While there are sections for most of Swift’s iconic LPs (save for her self-titled debut) and a rotating surprise song part, it is not known if TTPD will make the setlist. Swift’s concert return is set for Thursday, May 9, in Paris before she traverses across Europe and the United Kingdom throughout the spring and summer. In the fall, Swift brings the stage shows back to North America.

Taylor Swift Is Fired Up to Return to Eras Tour After ‘The Tortured Poets Department Success

Many Swifties do believe TTPD will get a designated Eras section based on a social media video that the pop star shared on Thursday, April 25. In the YouTube Short clip, Swift was seen rehearsing her tour choreography but fans did not recognize the moves from previous shows.

“Why do I feel like these are definitely rehearsal pics for TTPD songs ‘cause when have we ever had the dancers with hats and sticks,” a social media user wrote via X.

Other fans noticed that, at one point, Swift leaned on a railing that featured mystery white letters.

Swift has not commented on the fan theories, but at each show she has mentioned how she’s loved being back on stage for the first time in four years. The summer Eras shows, however, will be bittersweet for the Grammy winner since she’ll be away from Kelce, 34.

Swift and Kelce, who have been dating since summer 2023, spent her tour hiatus together on the West Coast. (After downtime in Los Angeles, they jetted off to Las Vegas for the Saturday, April 27, charity auction hosted by Patrick Mahomes ’ nonprofit. Swift donated four tickets to Eras concerts in the United States.)

“[They have] deepened their bond,” the insider exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month. “It makes the prospect of her tour more challenging. She’ll be sad, [but] they support and respect [each other]. They have busy careers, so they understand those commitments, as difficult as it is.”

Kelce is expected to attend some of Swift’s overseas shows, telling Entertainment Tonight in April that her London concerts at Wembley Stadium will surely be incredible.
