The first glimpse of EA Sports PGA Tour — and yes, that’s the final title — is here at last, and it’s a brief but impressive look at EA Sports’ next simulation golf game.

A teaser trailer released Tuesday — which happens to be the same day that 2K Sports’ competing game, PGA Tour 2K23 , debuted in early release — offers clips of what EA refers to as “actual gameplay footage” from Augusta National Golf Club. That’s the home of the Masters Tournament, which will be featured exclusively in EA Sports PGA Tour , returning to the world of video games for the first time in a decade. It will be accompanied in the game by the three other major championships in men’s professional golf, as well as the Amundi Evian Championship , one of five majors on the women’s pro tour.

It’s perhaps premature to compare the two games; after all, this is a teaser with less than 30 seconds of footage from a work in progress. As for a release date, EA did not provide an updated launch window on Tuesday beyond the previously announced yearlong delay to “ spring 2023 .” However, the publisher did finally confirm the platforms on which EA Sports PGA Tour will be available: PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. PC is a surprise; EA hasn’t released a golf title on PC since 2011. The publisher may be returning to the platform to compete directly with PGA Tour 2K23 , which has been available on PC since that franchise debuted as The Golf Club in 2014.

EA might also be inviting a comparison to PGA Tour 2K23 because the publisher believes it’s a favorable one. I’ve spent the past few days playing a review copy of the latter game, and while it’s no slouch in the graphics department, this peek at EA’s upcoming effort appears to be a cut above 2K Sports’ latest — there’s a level of richness and polish here that immediately caught my eye. For instance, the clubhouse at Augusta National has a heft that makes it look like a proper building; the structures on many of the courses in PGA Tour 2K23 look like cardboard cutouts by comparison.

Having said that, buildings on golf courses are ultimately just window dressing. In the end, EA Sports PGA Tour will be judged on how it feels to line up shots and swing a club; how many modes of play and courses it offers; and the degree to which players can customize their created golfer. Its predecessor, 2015’s Rory McIlroy PGA Tour , came up far short in pretty much every one of those areas except gameplay — at least at launch . As of now, EA has announced 11 courses for EA Sports PGA Tour , and said Tuesday that its roster of playable golfers will include Jordan Spieth, winner of the 2015 Masters Tournament, who appears in the teaser trailer.

he EA Sports PGA Tour gameplay trailer has finally been revealed with some stunning graphics.

EA Sports PGA Tour is the exclusive home for all four major tournaments including the Master's Tournament, the PGA Championship, U.S. Open Championship, and The Open Championship. Fans are massively excited for the upcoming release as this is the first-ever major golf game to feature all four of these fantastic events.

It is also EA's first venture of a golf game on the next generation of consoles, with the game set to release for Xbox Series S/X, Playstation 5 and PC in Spring 2023.

EA released a full gameplay trailer on the 19th of January 2023, which showcases the game's stunning new graphics and provides an insight into so much more content - which has generated mass excitement surrounding the golf and gaming community.

It's safe to say the gameplay looks extraordinary, and so much more advanced than any sort of graphics we've seen produced by EA in a golf title ever before.

We sat down with developer Ben Ramsour and discussed the capabilities they now have with the power of generation five.

GMS: With this being the first golf game developed on a next-generation console by yourselves, how much were you able to push the boundaries in terms of graphics for EA Sports PGA Tour?

Ben Ramsour: "As far as you can take it on those new consoles! Also, having Frostbite is a big deal, it's a really strong engine. So yeah, we've been able to push it really, really far. I think that's part of the reason, we made the choice of going Gen five because we didn't want to have to cut corners to keep stuff performing on the lower quality for the old consoles like the eight-year-old PS4 or whatever."

"I think the other thing that is really you'll see is how we push gameplay and the physics using Gen Fives the computing power. Correct can talk about all that from a gameplay standpoint. But I think the courses will obviously look stunning because of the graphics and all of that."

"Another key differentiator here is because of just how far we've been able to push it because of the hardware but also because of our relationships with the different courses and working with each of the superintendents and taking the painstaking effort to tune each course to be unique. St Andrews is such a different mind battle than playing Augusta in the game. So it's, I love how we've taken it there."

TheApexHound and EA Sports PGA Tour producer Ben Ramsour join forces in showcasing the game's gameplay elements in its last gameplay trailer. In an online multiplayer game across multiple holes, the two demonstrated just what makes EA Sports Tiburon's version the better golf game for this year.

Electronic Arts' entry to golf simulator games this year is almost upon us, and with the game ready for launch, EA showcased all of the gameplay mechanics available in the game just in time for its release. The gameplay showcase demonstrated EA Sports PGA Tour's mapping systems, its multiplayer functionalities, and different game modes upon release, as well as some of the courses players will get to play.

One of EA Sports PGA Tour's biggest advantages over its rival is its exclusive rights to the Masters. This gives players a more exciting path to pro and towards forging their names as legends of the golf game in the upcoming game's career mode. Also, the Augusta National Golf Club has just announced that it will be hosting the Road to the Masters Invitational, in which invited players will get to compete. These matches will showcase even more of the gameplay in action as these players compete for a top spot during the live streamed event on Sunday and Monday evening, April 2-3, 2023.

Apart from the gameplay, Electronic Art's graphics is also miles ahead of 2K's, thanks to its Frostbite Engine and its focus on releasing on just the PS5 and the Xbox Series X for the consoles, which helped them go all out on the development and not worry about older-gen compatibility issues. The graphics single-handedly elevates EA Sports PGA Tour above its competition, and its more satisfying gameplay design will make it a worthy competitor against 2K's own golf game.

Alongside enhancements to Neural Aids, a new Adaptive Difficulty system adjusts opponent levels based on player performance in real-time, ensuring a balanced and consistent race experience for players of all skill levels.

AI behavior mirrors real riders’ strategies, with champions biding their time and rookies eager to prove themselves. Gameplay physics has been refined for smoother corner management, offering a more forgiving experience. In multiplayer, the LiveGP Championships mode provides competitive online play, while Cross-play enables inter-platform challenges at launch. Offline, 2-player local split-screen is available on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam versions. MotoGP 24 allows more player creativity with four robust editors for helmets, stickers, racing numbers and butt patches with the ability to share creations online across various platforms.
