Slough is a town in Berkshire, England, about 20 miles west of central London.
The town is home to the Slough Trading Estate, the largest industrial estate in single private ownership in Europe.
Slough has seen major redevelopment of the town centre with old buildings being replaced with new offices and shopping complexes.
Things to do in Slough
While in Slough why not experience the River Thames with Kris Cruises that operates a fleet of fully equipped luxury holiday boats on the the river with boats sleeping between 2 and 10 people. They are available for hire from as little as a 3 or 4 night short break to one week or more. You can explore the whole 124 mile length of the River Thames starting from Teddington, passing through the infamous Henley and Oxford towns right up to Lechlade in Gloucestershire.
Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre is located in the heart of Slough and offers free parking as well as 120 shops to chose from to suit every style. The Queensmere Observatory’s Retailer Promise has been created to ensure that all visitors receive a high level of service from participating retailers.
Slough is home to Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens that were designed and laid out in the 1930’s by Edward White, a partner in Milner, White and Sons, a leading landscape architect firm of the day. The gardens are considered to be his best creation.
Another similar attraction is Dorneywood that is traditionally the country residence of a senior member of the Government, usually a Secretary of State or Minister of the Crown. It was given to us by Lord Courtauld-Thomson and it is administered by the Dorneywood Trust at no cost to the public or to the National Trust.
