Seven Seas Voyager cruise ship facts

The Seven Seas Voyager has the unmistakable sense of up-scale American luxury. My Seven Seas Voyager review explains what makes her different from other luxury cruise ships. I detail the most popular suites , rate the restaurants and preview the on board entertainment options . In addition, there are video tours so you can see what this luxury cruise ship is really like. Click on the tabs above to navigate to each part of this review.

  • Chartreuse – the best restaurant at sea.
  • Off-menu dining in Compass Rose.
  • Butler service in premium suites.
  • Lacks a sense of intimacy.
  • Service can be patchy.

The Seven Seas Voyager deck plan is mostly easy to get around. There are a total of 9 passenger decks, the highest of which is deck 12.

  • Reception : Deck 5
  • Accommodation : Decks 6 to 11
  • Main dining room : Deck 4
  • Theatre : Deck 4
  • Observation lounge : Deck 11

Built in Italy and launch in 2003, Seven Seas Voyager is the third cruise ship in the luxury Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet.

Seven Seas Voyager is 206 m. / 677 ft. in length with room for 706 guests. That is about the same number of guests as the newer Seven Seas Explorer. Guests stay in luxurious all-suite, all-balcony accommodation, but unlike many other luxury cruise ships the suites are positioned from bow to stern.

Seven Seas Voyager underwent a major refurbishment in 2016. She now boasts the same elegant style and decor featured on Seven Seas Explorer. Also, the French restaurant called Chartreuse made its debut on Seven Seas Voyager as part of the ship’s refurbishment. This has been a great addition to the onboard dining scene.

Indeed as my Seven Seas Voyager review explains, dining is a delight. There are five excellent venues to choose from , including two specialty restaurants and the spectacular main dining room called Compass Rose.

Also, there are  three sumptuious lounges and there is entertainment most nights in a Broadway-style theatre .

A fully-equipped gym and fitness centre can help burn off unwanted calories, plus there is a luxurious spa offering a range of indulgent treatments to keep you looking good and feeling relaxed.

Your Seven Seas Voyager cruise fare is all-inclusive. Gourmet meals, champagne, fine wines and spirits are all included in the cruise fare. Uniquely, shore excursions are also included. Indeed, once you get onboard there is no need to pay for anything else.

On my review voyage the house champagne was Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top Brut. There will be a bottle waiting in your suite upon embarkation.

You can purchase premium and vintage alcoholic beverages too, however I thought the house offerings were excellent.

Also included in the cruise fare are non-alcoholic beverages, specialty teas and coffees.

Gratuities are also included, which means tipping is not necessary.

In addition, shuttle bus transfers to and from the port are often included. Plus, there is also a handy tote bag to take ashore.

As this Seven Seas Voyager review reveals, dining is a highlight of any sailing. On the whole the quality and presentation   of the produce is impressive.

There are five dining venues to choose from. These include Compass Rose with its European-inspired menu, as well as the Veranda buffet restaurant and the al fresco Pool Grill.

There are also two specialty restaurants – a steakhouse called Prime 7 and the sublimely good French restaurant called Chartreuse.

Light snacks and coffee are served all day at the popular Coffee Connection.

In-suite dining is available 24-hours a day.

The Seven Seas Voyager dress code ranges from casual wear to formal, depending on the time of day.

Casual wear includes resort-style apparel like jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. It is appropriate only before 6:00pm, with two exceptions: Guests can wear casual anytime they dine at the Pool Grill or Pool Bar; Guests can also wear casual in any venue after 6:00pm on the final night of the cruise.

Otherwise, in the evening guests wear either elegant casual or formal . This is indicated each day in the onboard Passages newsletter.

For ladies elegant casual wear includes skirts, slacks with a blouse or sweater, a pant suit or dress. For gentlemen it is slacks and a collared shirt. Sport jackets are optional and ties are not required.

On formal nights ladies wear gowns and cocktail dresses, while gentlemen dress in tuxedos, dinner jackets or dark suits with a tie.

Like most cruise lines, the number of formal nights depends on the cruise duration. Cruises of less than 16 days have no formal nights, while longer cruises have at least two formal evenings.

Seven Seas Voyager is a much loved cruise ship and as such she has a loyal following. During my Seven Seas Voyager review sailing the guests generally ranged in age from 35 to 70-years old.

Most guests are from the U.S.A. and they appreciate the upscale luxury onboard. There are also guests from the U.K. and Canada as well as an increasing number of Australians and Europeans.

It’s worth noting that, like all the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet, the Seven Seas Voyager is gay-friendly.

Seven Seas Voyager exudes a sense of luxurious Americana, with tastefully decorated public areas and wonderfully spacious suites. The five restaurants offer some of the best dining at sea. And the resort-style pool is like a floating oasis. Combined with the all-inclusive lifestyle it’s hard to beat.

Thank you for the comprehensive review of the Seven Seas Voyager! We are considering booking a cruise on this vessel and your post has been extremely helpful. All of the added visuals bring this ship to life. We greatly appreciate your efforts and sharing your views and comments. Great work!

Dear Lore Thank you for your kind remarks. I hope you enjoy your cruise on Seven Seas Voyager! Regards Jason

regent voyager reviews tripadvisor

On this ship in the Med this yr we found the pool area very poor. Evening meals non existent. On th3 last night of our 3 week cruise my husband dressed in polo shirt and long shorts and boaters but not allowed to dine anywhere but the pool area. This was our 3rd a Regent sevenseas Cruise and totally disappointed. Staff were not interested in serving and Cabin staff very poor. Chatreuse very ordinary and we cancelled a second booking. Butter was described as with truffle but when I asked where were the truffle the waiter told me the butter was with flecks of truffle and he couldn’t locate any. Over priced cruise line and total disappointment

regent voyager reviews tripadvisor

Agree with De above. This is an extremely overpriced cruise line. Very disappointed with the experience.

It claims to be the most luxurious ship ever built, but the service, food, and amenities were all subpar – at most, it rivals a four-star cruise, but this has a 6-star price tag!

I chose this cruise to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday, because it was supposed to be very luxurious. Turns out they didn’t know how to do servicing at all – despite reminding the crew that he’ll be celebrating his birthday on the cruise on the day we boarded as well as when booking the entire trip a few months prior, there was no decorations, no cards, nothing in the room after we returned from the excursion on the day. When I called the front desk to ask what happened, they decided to send someone to put up balloons and a paper sign while my husband was in the room, sitting right in front of them…making it totally meaningless!

Following the failed celebration of his birthday, we came across a series of other crazy encounters, making the entire trip an extremely unenjoyable holiday: 1. Live spider and live bug found in a bowl of berries for room service dining 2. Soiled towel in the bathroom that was stained with streaks of bright brown red, after the bathroom was refreshed and refilled with “new”, “clean” towels 3. Our friend shipped over a bottle of champagne along with a birthday card to surprise my husband. The crew lost the card and only plotted the bottle of champagne in the middle of our room without saying anything….

In terms of the food quality and amenities, these are also below standards. For example, soup onboard is always so salty it’s undrinkable (happened multiple times). The steak at their specialty restaurant was very tough – meat quality was bad to begin with. In terms of amenities, the design of it all was missing the perspective of the customer experience. For example, there was no assigned area where guests can blow dry their hair, powder up, and get ready after using the Spa. You actually have to stand up while blow drying your hair – there are no chairs in the whole spa area. How is that supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience?

regent voyager reviews tripadvisor

Love this cruise line! Exceptional food and service. Enjoy the diversity of the guests. Made many friends and people with whom I still keep in touch. Excellent program for solo travelers -nightly. Just a fun, relaxing and memorable cruise every time!

Regent Seven Seas Voyager review: A taste of luxury

I recently returned from a fantastic Mediterranean cruise with Regent Seven Seas Cruises, on board the lovely Seven Seas Voyager.

I joined Voyager at the port of Naples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I was lucky to have a midship Deluxe Veranda Suite (G category) located on deck 6, and was pleasantly surprised at how much space there was. I was particularly impressed by the size of the bathroom, complete with bathtub, separate shower enclosure, toilet and double vanity unit.

At 356 square feet the Deluxe Veranda Suite is pretty sizable for one of the lowest categories, with a veranda large enough for two reclining chairs and a good-sized table. The glass front to the veranda meant that it was easy to relax and watch the world go by as we sailed along.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager - Deluxe Veranda Suite

Dinner in the main restaurant, Compass Rose, is a delight: such a huge choice of dishes, presented so beautifully that a visit to Compass Rose stands alongside the smaller alternative restaurants as a culinary highlight.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager - Compass Rose restaurant

The entertainment on board was another highlight. We enjoyed an excellent show enhanced by the comfort of the theatre, with seating on two levels, and plenty of leg room and tables for drinks, brought to you by the ever-present waiters.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager - Theatre show

The following day was a sea day, and with the hot and sunny weather, I made the most of the ample sized swimming pool and the plush sunbeds. There are plenty of loungers around the pool, as well as many hidden places at the back of the ship, with magnificent sea views. Because Voyager is a spacious ship with excellent facilities, there was plenty to do on a full day at sea - perfect for recharging in between the busy days ashore.

I did make time for the afternoon Chocoholic Teatime in the Horizon Lounge - chocolate fountains, chocolate creations in every size and shape, along with finger sandwiches, quiches, scones with cream and jam, and the obligatory pot of tea were duly consumed, but leaving enough space for dinner!

The lovely Observation Lounge is a perfect venue for pre-dinner drinks - a lovely sea view and resident pianist to entertain us over cocktails. We had dinner in Chartreuse, quite a formal restaurant which features classic and modern French dishes, beautifully presented in a stylish and chic setting.

Our next stop was in Kotor in Montenegro. This fascinating port sits on the Gulf of Kotor, a lengthy sea inlet surrounded by stunning scenery, not dissimilar to the Italian Lakes. Kotor is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, with one of the best preserved medieval old towns in the Adriatic.

Regent include a wide selection of 'free' shore excursions in every port, and we enjoyed a walking tour of Kotor with a local guide, then a short bus ride along the coast to catch the water taxi across to Our Lady of the Rocks Church, situated on the tiny island of Gospa od Skrpjela. This is a truly beautiful place, and on the day I was there a wedding had just taken place, with the reception held at the waterfront hotel back on the other side of the bay.

Now, Voyager, Sail Thou Forth - Old Town, Kotor, Montenegro

On the final night, we headed to my favourite restaurant on board, Prime 7, serving classic steakhouse cuisine, along with fish and lobster dishes.

Now, Voyager, Sail Thou Forth - Prime 7 Restaurant

After a taste of what it is like to sail with Regent Seven Seas, I will confidently recommend them - two of my companions booked a future cruise to the Far East while we were still on board, which clearly speaks volumes!

We sailed from my Miami to deep south Caribbean April 21st on a 14-nt cruise. We'd booked this after we had such a great experience on SS in June, 2022 in the Baltic - so, the anticipation was a long time in building. We're glad it met or exceeded our expectations. The Navigator IS an older ship; when you're in the lower decks, including Compass Rose dining room, the shakes and rattles are very real. We found the number of 120 V plugs inadequate, and my wife was not happy with the hair dryer, to the point where she's bringing her own for the next cruise (which is on Atlas Ocean Voyages anyway and not RSSC). We are also slightly peeved that the provision of certain liquors was inadequate; these are items that are on the drink menu, but not available (Fernet, Armagnac...) CABIN Penthouse suites on the Navigator are no bigger than all the other veranda and concierge suites. You get a butler (which we seldom used, and my wife was very upset that he entered our cabin barely knocking/ringing the bell), who brings you daily canapes (as if you'd ever go hungry cruising); you also get Guerlain toiletries for ladies; for men, it's still L'Occitane, (Jasmin & Bergamote) for gents, which I liked more than Guerlain. The other PH difference is: they ask you ahead of time what booze you want provisioned in your suite. This turns out to be a nice boon. I asked for a Remy Martin and Fernet Branca. These are the 1L variety. Of course, we didn't finish, which made for a nice take-home memento. Just as well, since they did not have some of the liquors that are on the drink menu (incld Fernet and Armmagnac). Shoes were shone as requested, but no complimentary shoe tree. Maids work as a tandem - ours, Brigitte and Danica were wonderful. DINING In a word, "stupendous"! We ate mainly in Compass Rose, and after a great first experience, asked for Ray & Gerlin every evening. The Versace service plates set the tone - so elegant we asked for them to be left till the main course. The menu offers a nightly, any evening your want it, part, which includes lobsters and scallops, not to mention steaks etc. 95% of the food, from app to main course were impressive in both taste and presentation (IG-worthy!) That crab-avocado app, I told my wife, is the perfect appetizer, and I'd order it every night if not for the 'monotony' of deliciousness. The only real, consistent, fails, are risottos and souffles, which, no one has any business even attempting on a cruise ship. We did have a disappointing osso bucco at Sette Mari (pre-cooked and not adequately reheated). That whole evening was a bit of a disaster: short-staffed, long waits, and we heard people complaining about cold LASAGNE! Prime 7 was equally disappointing. The service and ambience is arguably half a notch up, but my lamb chops were so unremarkably flavorless that I didn't finish them, let alone ask for seconds, there's room for improvement. They bring petits fours after every dinner, which often is enough dessert for me anyway. Instead, I focus on the magnificent cheeses they offered. I'll forever be grateful for being introduced to Reblochon. Now a quick word on the wine: generally not as impressive as SS, but if you educate yourself on what they DO have available (often on display, or just ask), you won't be too let down. SS was just more apt to have an old world bottle or two that'll blow you away for an "included" wine. ENTERTAINMENT Hats off to the singers and dancers that put on a mind-blowingly-good show. The Cruise Director Ray said something like it's the best cruise show "for a ship this size", but the three shows were so well done (the PERFORMANCE element) that he wasn't doing his colleagues a favor by that unnecessary qualifier. Two thumbs up! LAUNDRY RSSC now offers free valet laundry to ALL guests. This, to me, takes them to a whole different level of superb service. Your clothing are returned either neatly folded or on hangers in a Regent garment bag. My wife never had any of her laundry done, but even at 50% of the benefit, this gives Regent a distinct advantage. EXCURSIONS RSSC and SS are really the only ones who include shore excursions, and that's a pretty big deal if you've priced shore excursions lately. As we speak, I'm lamenting that Atlas Ocean Voyages, which we're going to be on in a few days, does not include any excursions, because I just looked at the price tags! We did a horseback riding outing right into the surf, an ATV thing on rugged terrain, SeaTrek, a couple of hikes, a magnificent sunset sail on a catamaran, and could have done a SCUBA and/or submarine too! Where SS only allows one excursion per port-of-call, RSSC has "unlimited" - realistically, just one in maybe half of the 9 ports-of-call for us, since there's no way you could do two in all of them. Still, this is an obvious advantage. Keep in mind that the other so-called ultra-lux (Atlas Ocean Voyages, Seabourn, Oceania...) do NOT include any excursions.

Unfortunately that diagnosis fell within the cancellation window for a cruise we had booked with Regent/Seven Sea Cruises. Our original cruise was cancelled by them so they offered a compelling alternative and transferred our balance when we accepted. We tried to buy travel insurance at that time, but per their rules we couldn't because we were fully paid up. Upon receiving the diagnosis, we cancelled the cruise for compelling medical reasons, and they told us we forfeited all the funds we advanced. Their suggestion was that my wife go on the cruise by herself or with a friend, a period during which I would be in chemotherapy. Guess she likes me because she declined. We get it, cancellations are a pain for the company and there are policies involved, but are all cancellation causes really the same so as to justify absolutely no deviations whatsoever from their policy? We would have been happy with a penalty, with the balance of our funds kept against a future cruise, but that is not what the policy says. Not sure I would be able to participate in a future cruise regardless, but it would have been comforting knowing my wife would have that option. Their view is basically just "tough luck!" We would never knowingly do business with a company this cold blooded, greedy (we offered to try to find substitutes, they declined, and we learned they had a waiting list for this cruise) and inflexible, but we didn't know this at the time. The point of this review is to let others who may be contemplating doing business with them what kind of a company they are. Before booking with them, see if there are other cruise lines which have more reasonable cancellation policies. If you can't find such a company and decide to book with Regent, think hard before you decline the travel insurance offered, because you just never know what might arise. Having to deal with this greedy, compassionless company on top of the diagnosis just adds insult to injury. We thought Regent/Seven Seas to be a quality, high end cruise company. We were wrong. Now that we understand the real nature of their culture we would never recommend or do business with them. We hope you can find better options out there than this company.

DO NOT GO ON REGENT!! We are frequent cruise people. The Regent Seven Seas Splendor cruise of the Caribbean for 10 days was awful. Worst ever cruise. 1) Had three good restaurants but limited capacity to handle 700 people. The overflow place to eat at, Rosa Restaurant, where most people had to eat was like an old person cafeteria, 2) the cruise had 2 days at sea, the entertainment on board, was Bingo, Cross Stich, and Puzzles -- no joke ! 3) the excursion activities very bad, we did the catamaran sail for $90 upcharge each, and went out and no sail, just motoring around and food was awful and playing the song YMCA the whole time ! 4) there were bus rides involved, no bathrooms on the bus, a problem for a lot of the older people, 5) the men's spa was filthy, 5) we had a major problem with an incorrect charge on our bill, no one could change it on the ship, said we need to work with guest relations in Miami, the captain said he could do nothing. I could go on about other issues. Needless to say. The worst cruise we have been on and we DEFININTELY WILL NEVER GO ON ANOTHER REGENT CRUISE! NO-WAY !!

I just returned from the so called "world most luxurious cruise line" Regent Seven Seas Voyager ship. It was very very disappointing. Food and service were good, however several other things you can not imagine that could happen on this very expensive cruise trip. 1) It was advertised as "wifi included". After we got on the ship, wifi was not working, we were then told, wifi is only for 1 device. As there are 2 people in the room, the 2nd person must pay additional $25 per day to have wifi. OK, we paid the $25 per day, total of $375 for a 14day cruise. But the wifi was impossibly slow, can't even open a simple picture. I tried to send some pictures, uploading the picture took 48 hours. The internet cafe staff told us this ship just does not have good wifi period. Other ships have better wifi. 2) The ship does not have a mobile APP. In the last 7 years, I have not ever been on a ship that does not have an APP. Without an App, you have to manually track your activities; and you have to stand in line to make reservations for restaurants or others. 3) On 3 accessions, I experienced no hot water to shower. I called the front desk. After checking with the engineer, he said, no hot water for tonight until 8 am tomorrow. I could not shower that day on the "most luxurious cruise line". Two other times, i did not bother to call the front desk, I just had to use cold water to shower. 4) While sailing, the room made very loud squeaking noise continuously. I could not sleep. I had to take sleeping pills and use ear plugs. I just hope Regent get their management updated, otherwise It won't take long for the cruise line to go out of business. For me, no more Regent.

I'm afraid to say, my time at the Regent Mariner's casino was far from the luxury experience I had anticipated. The casino itself was claustrophobic and drab. The dated, glitchy machines were reminiscent of a bygone era, rather than the elite, state-of-the-art experience promised. However, my main gripe was the calamitous incident with the ATM machine. It managed to make a successful withdrawal from my account, but failed to dispense any cash. You would think such mishaps would be easy to handle for a staff of a reputed casino, right? Unfortunately, not here. The staff's inability to manage the situation was shocking. Their sluggish responses and lack of appropriate action left me feeling more like a burden than a guest. The manager, who I had hoped would exhibit a higher degree of professionalism, was just as disappointing. Despite having numerous avenues to rectify the situation, the manager demonstrated a surprising lack of initiative to even attempt to resolve the issue. Perhaps it's no surprise then that the casino often stands empty. Who would want to gamble in an environment characterized by faulty machines and an incompetent staff? The overall experience was a black mark on the Regent Mariner brand and one that has left me seriously reconsidering where I choose to spend my time and money in the future. A swift and significant improvement is needed if they want to retain their customers.

No temperature testing during the initial boarding on Explorer to Alaska. Not one word about COVID-19 and no warnings during the entire trip. Like the virus did not exist. Caught it on the 5th day of a 7-day trip. The on-ship hospital treated me and charged me $4300. Quarantined us - for 2 days - Horrible room service food for my wife; I could not eat anyway. Deceptive terminology on the menu of signature steak house - 12 oz NY Strip was 8 oz at most. Never saw one piece of Halibut on the trip. No Dungeness Crab entrees. A bunch of wise guys. Booked airfare through them - They make your time..not you. If you don't like the flights, you can complain..It will cost you $100 to call the travel department. FACT CHECK IT If you want to change the departure, it will cost you over $1000 for the two tickets. FACT CHECK IT Cruisecritic.com is not telling you the real story about the incidents of COVID-19 on ships. Ask for the most recent incidents of COVID and they will hide behind HEPPA and refuse to tell you. If you are in your late 70's, albeit you have had all your shots and boosters, good luck. We got the new strain and it was horrendous.

REGENT SEVEN SEAS CRUISES IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST !!! Regent refused to cancel a recent cruise to Israel and Egypt scheduled for October 15th, and that I was booked on with my wife, and we pre-paid the $28,000.00. Regent REFUSED to give refunds or credits for those American-Jews that were booked on the cruise and fearful to travel anywhere in the Middle-East. I believe Regent is Anti-Semitic and is insensitive to the needs of its Jewish-American passengers. I will never again book a Regent cruise and I will do everything in my power to discourage others from patronizing Regent. R E G E N T S U C K S !

We did a Regent cruise years ago from Venice to Greece and it was wonderful so we thought we would book with them again. Day 1: request certain alcohol for the room. Part order arrived day 2. NOTE, this is an "all inclusive" trip, minimum 20,000$ to book. Coffee maker in room doesn't work. Started water for bath. Bathroom flooded. Tub will not drain. Need to take bus to town. Hubby disabled. Walked to end of pier to get bus. THEN bus came right to ramp of ship. NO ONE told him he did not need to walk to end of dock. Still day 1- box of Kleenex empty cuz we used about five tissues. All inclusive means you're screwed and they're having a good laugh on you. NEVER AGAIN!

Wow! I am not surprised to see so many bad reviews! I came back and posted this because it has always appalled me what arrogant and horrible service we had on our 5 star 7 day cruise from Rome to Venice including Greece and Croatia! It was part of a bigger trip that was the vacation of a lifetime! We rented most of the ship for our group. We got a suite right at the front of the ship, amazing for views! There was some sort of mechanical room in front of our room though and noise came from it all day and all night! It gave us both headaches and eventually made us sick. We asked immediately for a new room and were gruffly told the cruise was sold out and looked at like we were idiots! Then, when the CEO of our company decided that he was going to go back home early, leaving his room just at the hall from ours available. I asked them if we could go ahead and move into his room. We were told that they did not allow that I said I'm gonna need for you to ask to make an exception. They never got back to us. Next thing we knew it looked like they had a bunch of crewmembers camping out in there! I mean we can sympathize with the crew members all day long and at the end of the day we were paying for our room and it was miserable. Apparently the crewmembers thought it was 20then, when the CEO of our company decided that he was going to go back home early, leaving his room just up the hall from ours available. I asked them if we could go ahead and move into his room. We were told that they did not allow that I said, I'm gonna need for you to ask to make an exception. They never got back to us. Next thing we knew it looked like they had a bunch of crewmembers camping out in there! I mean we can sympathize with the crewmembers all day long, and at the end of the day we were paying for our room and it was miserable. Apparently the crew members thought it was plenty good enough for us! When we got back home I filed a complaint with Regent especially because we are a club member and because we do, did, spend a lot of money with them and they had the unmitigated gall to send me a coupon for $5000 off of a cruise for two if taken within the next year. Now keep in mind this was a $20,000 cruise so it's just a 25% off and I have to suffer with them again which won't happen! So it was nothing, nothing! When I see one of their ships now I feel nauseous, there's no way, no never. This is one of those times when I think I have reached an age to tell a company to just go f themselves! PS, as sick as we were leaving that miserable cruise, one of the unhelpful crew members offered us a free bottle of Gray Goose, as if that was what we needed. You can't make this stuff up! lol! Bad movie maybe?
