Travel in the Sims 4

Ready to hop of to Mt. Komorebi to test the slopes? Going for a weekend getaway to Granite Falls? Or ready for the adventure of a lifetime in Batuu? Not so fast! Not without a handy license and motor vehicle registration for that car you bought from the catalogue, or a subway pass for the children, or travel reservations and your passport for that international destination.

Speaking of going on a trip; you must book plane reservations and put down a vacation rental deposit. And let's not forget, you must have a passport to visit far away locales like Selvadorada. Just going from Willow Creek to Grandma's in Newcrest? Make sure you have gas in the car, your subway pass is ready, or your bicycle is registered. And if your teens are sick of using the subway, they can take formal or informal driving lessons to get ready for licensure. Travel free and loose no more!

Travel Requires a Mode: Bike, Subway Pass, Car, or Plane for International Travel

Apply and Renew Passport

Buy 7, 14, or 28 Day Subway Pass

Go to DMV to get a license

Driver's Education and Informal Lessons with Adult Household Members for Teens

Buy title for your Sim's car: it requires a license and gas once a week

Book Travel Reservations to travel internationally

Put down Vacation Rental Deposit before you can travel internationally

New Reward Trait: Prepared Traveler

New Travel Aspiration: Seasoned Traveler

New Travel-related Career: Travel Magazine Critic

How It Works

Most options are available on the phone and computer (under my general pie menus) but if you don't see one in one place, check the other. Most career interactions are available on the computer and tablet the exception being location check-in which requires the phone.

Domestic Travel

All active sims (excluding infants and toddlers) will need a way to travel in order to leave their home lot. This only affects travel via the phone menu and relationship panel as well as elevators and travel boards. It does not affect travel from the street. You can also only have one primary mode of transportation at a time - the most recent mode of transportation selected will always be the primary. The following modes of transportation are available:

Subway Pass

All sims child and up can use a subway pass. Subway passes are the cheapest mode of transportation and cost between $20 for a Youth 7-day pass and $130 for an Adult 28 day pass. Discounts are available for children, teens, and elders. A 7, 14, or 28 Day pass are available. When a Sim's pass expires, they will not be able to travel and will need to get a new one. The subway pass will be delivered to the Sim's inventory.

sims 4 sims travel

Bike (Requires Discover University)

Your sim can purchase a bike as usual. Once a sim has a bike, it will need to be registered. This essentially, as far as the mod is concerned, marks the sim who registers the bike as the owner. What that means is that it will consider that Sim to have a bike but anyone else in the household will either need to register their own bikes, buy a car, or get a subway pass. Registered bikes will need to be serviced every 21 days. When in need of service, it will be unusable and until sent in. In order to be serviced, it must first be placed in the Sim's inventory. Servicing takes about 90 minutes.

sims 4 sims travel

Buying a Car

All Sims teen and up are eligible to purchase a car (from Buy mode under Outdoor/Transportation). Each car has a price tag, an eco footprint, and an environmental score. If a Sim buys a sedan - or an average eco footprint car - it ranks differently than a muscle car/utility vehicle like a van or pickup truck or a hybrid vehicle like the euro car (from GTW) or a hybrid version of the BG coupe.

Mid-sized sedans (normal eco footprint of -1) are great values as they are reasonably fuel efficient and require a normal amount of maintenance. Muscle Car or Utility Vehicles are larger and thus are not as fuel efficient as sedans or hybrids but they also don't require as much maintenance. Hybrid vehicles cost more but provide better fuel mileage and require maintenance slightly less often than sedans.

sims 4 sims travel

License and Registration

In order to actually drive the car bought, first, they must apply for a license at local DMV. Wait times vary. Once a license has been obtained, the license will be in the Sim's inventory and then they can purchase a car/title. The Sim who registers the car is the owner of that vehicle. Note that when the game loads there is a small, random chance for sims young adult and up to already have their license.

sims 4 sims travel

Driving Lessons

Teens can get a license only if they complete Driver's Education lessons ($50/lesson) or ask an older family member (who has a license, a car with fuel and doesn't need maintenance) to teach them how to drive. This option is only available if the car is not in the inventory! A hidden driving skill will determine when they are eligible. Driving lessons, formal or informal, increase the skill, though formal driving lessons are noticeably more effective. When they are eligible to get their license, you will receive a notification.

sims 4 sims travel

Fuel and Maintenance

Service maintenance depends on the type of car but usually is needed between every 14-28 days, costs between $150-$250 depending on type of car, and takes about 2 hours and gas is usually needed every 7-10 days. Maintenance takes about 2-3 hours. Filling up takes about 15 minutes and costs between $20-$30 depending on type of car. Your Sim will receive a notification when it is time for service and when the gas gauge is low. If your Sim no longer wants to deal with the hassle of owning a car, they are able to sell it. Note that the only way to get rid of a car is to use the Sell Car interaction on the car or transfer ownership of the car.

International Travel

To travel  internationally to Windenburg, Selvadorada, Sulani, Batuu, Granite Falls, or Mt. Komorebi (if your sim does not live there) requires a passport and advance reservations. They will then go to the airport for about an hour before heading to their final destination.

Sims can obtain an initial passport by filling out an application online and then going to the Passport Office. Once at the passport office, Sims will choose a shipping speed to receive your passport. The options are to receive it within 12 hours to the Sim's inventory (Express Service), within 12-24 hours in the mail (Expedited Service), or within 24-48 hours in the mail (Standard Service). Sims will pay a fee for both the passport itself and the shipping. The shipping speed chosen will be for all Sims present at the Passport Office.

sims 4 sims travel

Advance Reservations

Once Sims have a passport in their inventory, they are able to book travel reservations and put down vacation rental deposits. A vacation rental deposit and travel reservations are required before a Sim can go on vacation/travel international. Sims may choose a range they're willing to put down for the deposit.

sims 4 sims travel

For travel reservations they must specify the whether they are flying in Economy seating or First Class. They will receive a random buff based on the fare class and a chance to get travel-sick and/or loose their luggage. Fees are adjusted accordingly. Only one reservation for travel and vacation rental per household is needed.

sims 4 sims travel

Traveling to International Locales

Once a sim has a passport, booked a vacation rental reservation, and flight accommodations, they will receive a buff that tells them they are travel ready. While this buff is active, their reservations and all preparations are considered complete.

sims 4 sims travel

When they're ready to travel internationally, Sims can use the phone Travel menu to "Go on Vacation" as usual. It will now be unlocked for the trip! The whole travel party will then travel via a flight (rabbithole) for a few hours. At the end of the flight, the sims will arrive at their destination via the map picker.

sims 4 sims travel

You may also temporarily see your sims on lot before going to their final destination after the airport.

Passport Renewal

A passport expires after 36 Days. A Sim will then need to fill out a similar application/paperwork online and then mail the paperwork to the passport agency. The Sim should receive their passport within 24 hours.

Seasoned Traveler Aspiration

Note that due to the nature of this aspiration it requires several packs: Jungle Adventures, City Living, Snowy Escape, Outdoor Retreat, and Island Living to complete. It also is greatly enhanced by frankk's Language Barriers as a few of the objectives include learning languages but you can still complete each level without the mod as it is not required.

sims 4 sims travel

Prepared Traveler Reward Trait

These Sims enjoy traveling all over the world. They have an easier time learning new languages, socializing with strangers, and have more fun when they are not in their home region. Works well with Language Barriers .

Travel Critic Career

Note that due to the nature of this career it requires City Living.

A brand new 6 level semi-active career inspired by the CL Critic career with a travel-focused twist. Sims focus on writing columns, reviewing food and drinks and performances, visiting different neighborhoods and different worlds, talking with local sims, and excelling at photography. Brand new work from home interactions, short hours, and a boost in language learning skills (boost requires Language Barriers mod). Levels are:

  • Story Researcher
  • Culture Writer
  • Travel Blogger
  • Chief Travel Critic

Compatibility and Requirements

Packs Required

Main Mod: Base Game Only

Travel Critic Career: City Living

Seasoned Traveler Aspiration: Jungle Adventures, Snowy Escape, Island Living, City Living, and Outdoor Retreat

Highly Recommended

City Living, Snowy Escape, Island Living, Jungle Adventures, and Outdoor Retreat

Get to Work for the Euro hybrid car

Language Barriers Mod is recommended for completing certain objectives within the aspiration as well as getting the full experience of the Career, though not required

***While this does not require any packs for the base mod - no career/aspiration - its playability is greatly limited if one does not have any other packs***

Download Instructions:

1. Download the mod below or here and grab the General Pie menus.

2. Install the the main mod, the General pie menus, and the BG required cars.

3. Install International Travel option if you want to use the passport and need to make travel reservations and have gameplay related to international travel

4. Install Domestic Travel if you want cars, bikes, driving, public transportation, and gameplay related to domestic travel

5. Install the Aspiration if you have the packs required. 6. Install the Career if you have the packs required. 7. Install the optional cars for which you have packs.

8. Install the optional modules to allow for automation of licenses and subway passes (Domestic) and passports (International).

1.) For the purpose of this mod Windenburg, Mt. Komorebi, and Sulani are treated as international destinations in addition to Batuu, Granite Falls, Tartosa, and Selvadorada for those who do not live there so they count as travel abroad for the aspiration and career and are tracked locations in the passport even though you don't necessarily need to plan a vacation in order to visit them like the others.

2.) Your Sims will always be able to travel regardless of the mod if you zoom out and use the map picker from the street. The mod therefore only affects travel by any other means. Just FYI in case you really need to get somewhere without the restriction of the mod.

3.) Note it takes the mod about 20 sim minutes (20 seconds) to load fully. If you cannot access a feature make sure you let the game load for at least half an hour/30 seconds.

4.) There is a cheat menu available with the game cheats. Please note that the option to Reset Mod truly resets the mod to when it was first loaded - all progress for licensure/passports/etc. is lost and the passport/license/subway pass will be removed from your inventory. If you have any test versions of the mod prior to release, I actually do suggest you reset.

Sims 4: 10 Reasons To Use Adeepindigo's SimNation Travel Mod

Adding vehicles to The Sims 4 is just one of the best additions included in Adeepindigo's SimNation Travel mod.

Since their appearance in The Sims 2: Nightlife, cars have felt essential to The Sims franchise. And when The Sims 3: Generations added driving lessons and licenses, that feeling only got stronger. However, cars disappeared from The Sims 4 , and have yet to make a return to the official game. Given that The Sims 4 is not open-world like The Sims 3, this change makes some sense; with loading screens between lots—even neighboring lots—why would teens need to learn to drive?

RELATED: The Sims 4: How To Find, Install And Update Mods

Why would Sims need cars at all? Still, The Sims 2 was closed-world, and cars still added a lot of character to the Sims that drove them. In Adeepindigo’s SimNation Travel mod, functional cars make a return. But that’s not all; from improved bikes to subways to new vacation options, SimNation Travel is a great addition to any save.

Teen-Elder Sims can purchase cars from Buy Mode, under Outdoor/Transportation. All cars vary in price, eco-footprint, and environmental score, and different cars also have different fuel efficiencies and maintenance needs. Cars will also need gas and servicing occasionally; how often they’ll need these things depends on the type of car you have. Usually, though, servicing happens every 14-28 days (so, approximately once per season), and gas should be filled once every week or so. Cars can be sold, but not in buy mode; to sell a car, click on it, and choose “Sell Car” from the pie menu.

Sims will also need a license to drive. Sims apply for a license at the DMV, but teenage Sims will have to complete Driver’s Education lessons first. At 50 Simoleons per lesson, they can be expensive, so an older family member can also teach them for free. Once a teen is eligible to apply for a license, you’ll receive a notification, but you won’t know how they’re progressing, since driving is a hidden skill. Any Sim with a license can purchase a car. The Sim who purchases the car will be automatically assigned as its owner, but all Sims in the household can drive it.

7 New Subway System

For Sims who don’t want or can’t afford a car, anyone Child-Elder can use the subway. The Subway is the cheapest form of transportation, since it doesn’t require any servicing. 7, 14, and 28-day passes are available, after which a Sim won’t be able to travel unless they get a new pass, or a different mode of transportation. Unlike cars, which can be used by any Sim in a family who has a license, every Sim who wants to use the subway will need their own pass. Sims can also use the Subway in combination with things like bikes or cars, depending on the type of traveling they’re doing.

6 Improved Bikes

Bikes were first introduced with The Sims 4: Discover University, and SimNation Travel makes them function more like cars in terms of the care they need. Bikes can be purchased the usual way, but like cars, they’ll need to be registered in order to use them.

RELATED: The Sims 4: Everything You Need To Know About MissyHissy’s Hobby Mod

This means that they are only usable by the Sim who registers them; any other household members will need to buy and register their own bikes, or use another form of transportation. Like cars, also need servicing, which happens approximately once per season , or every 21 days. Bikes won’t be usable while they’re being serviced, but luckily, it only takes about 90 minutes.

5 Realistic Vacations

With SimNation Travel, Sims will need to pay a rental deposit and book international travel reservations. Deposits can range in price depending on what kind of vacation you’re taking, and Sims can pay within a range that they’re willing to put down. Sims can also choose whether to fly in Economy or First Class, which will result in a random buff, and a chance of losing their luggage. Only one reservation and deposit is needed per household, and everyone in a household will fly in the same class (Economy or First Class).

4 International Travel and Passports

Some vacation destinations are also considered International destinations, such as Batuu, Granite Falls, Mt. Komorebi, Selvadorada, Sulani, or Windenburg—if your Sims do not live there, of course. Travelling internationally requires a passport, which Sims can obtain with an online application, and a trip to the Passport office. Sims will receive their passports in anywhere from 12 to 48 hours, depending on the shipping and service they pay for, and passports and shipping each incur separate fees.

RELATED: Sims 4: All The Worlds, Ranked

Passports expire every 36 days, after which Sims will have to re-apply if they want to travel internationally again. You don’t need to have all of the packs listed ( Journey to Batuu , Outdoor Retreat , Snowy Escape , Jungle Adventure , Island Living , Get Together ) for the mod to work, but of course, you do need to have the packs associated with the aforementioned worlds in order to travel to them.

3 New Aspiration: Seasoned Traveler

International travel also counts toward this mod’s new aspiration, Seasoned Traveller. This aspect of the mods does require several packs to complete all of the associated goals, including Jungle Adventure, City Living, Snowy Escape, Outdoor Retreat, and Island Living. Fittingly, this aspiration involves a lot of traveling.

Completing this aspiration will give Sims the Prepared Travel reward trait, which reads: “These Sims enjoy traveling all over the world. They have an easier time learning new languages, socializing with strangers, and have more fun when they are not in their home region.” If you want your Sims to actually learn new languages, Adeepindigo recommends installing Frankk’s Language Barriers mod . Some of these aspiration milestones do involve learning languages, but the mod is not required to complete the aspiration.

2 New Career: Travel Critic

This new career is modeled off of the Art Critic Career that shipped with City Living , except this time you’re focusing on a more natural artistic landscape. Travel Critics will review food, drinks, and performances across the Sims universe, learning skills like photography, writing, and maybe even Selvadoradian culture skill.

Sims can go to work via the usual rabbit hole, or take advantage of new work-from-home interactions. Plus, the hours are short (which leaves plenty of time for exploring these new worlds on your own time!), and members of this career gain a boost to their language learning skills—though, this aspect of the mod also requires the Language Barriers mod to function properly. Again, you don’t need Language Barriers to play with SimNation Travel, but it does make the experience feel more complete.

1 Settings And Cheats

There’s a lot to play with here, and as you experience new parts of the mod, you may find yourself looking for a fresh start. Luckily, there is a way to completely reset all of your existing settings. Within the in-game cheats menu ( accessed by turning testingcheats on ), choosing Reset Mod from the menu will remove all cars, licenses, subway passes, and passports for every Sim in the neighborhood.

Bikes will stay, but they’ll function as they usually do without the mod’s augmented features. Adeepindigo recommends using the Reset Mod cheat if you’ve previously played with a test version of the mod prior to its official release.

Travel Across the Map

Sims can travel to any of the residential buildings or public places in the town. In addition to traveling within a town, gamers can also travel to other worlds, Residential and Destination. And yes, Residential areas are where Sims live, so it offers a great opportunity to meet other Sims and learn different skills. On the other hand, Destination World is specifically meant to be a tourist spot.

Before taking a vacation to these places, gamers need to take some time off work. After that, they need to select their destination and reserve their accommodation by selecting the "Take a Vacation" option on their smartphone. It is noteworthy that players can take as many as eight Sims with them on vacation after they adjust their accommodations accordingly.

How do you travel to a different lot in The Sims 4?

While no Sim can own a car in The Sims 4, travel is instantaneous without vehicles. It's like everyone has their own teleportation device!

To travel to most lots, the fastest way is to jump to the city map by pressing the M key or clicking the map button near the top-right corner of the screen. The Sim you have currently active will be in the traveling party, but after selecting a lot, you can choose which friends or family you wish to travel with. Sims not in the current family are guaranteed to arrive with yours regardless of relationship levels.

You can also travel via a Sim's cell phone. Open it by clicking it in the bottom-left corner of the Interface , navigate to the second tab (the one with a car icon), then select the Travel… option.

sims 4 sims travel

Sims can access almost any lot, including others' houses. (It's not guaranteed they'll be allowed to enter if they're visiting an enemy though.) However, Sims cannot enter vacation lots unless they are specifically taking a vacation. To do that, you cannot use the map; you must use a phone and select the "Take a Vacation…" option as seen above, directly above the Travel… option.

For more information on general travel, please see the Being Social page. For more information on vacations, please see the Taking a Vacation to Granite Falls or the Taking a Vacation to Selvadorada page.

10. Selvadorada - Jungle Adventure

sims 4 sims travel

Okay, Simmers, are you prepared for the verdant jungle and age old riddles behind the veils of Selvadorada in The Sims 4! This holiday is not one to just relax during but a journey of jungle activities and unfolding mystery. Imagining your Sims walking through thick undergrowth is what gives this feeling. Hence, pick up a virtual suitcase and let’s find out why Selvadorada is not only good for your Sims but a real adventure that brings some novelty into your gaming fun.

Therefore, if you want the sims to go beyond the act of taking selfies, Selvadorada's got you covered! The beauty is not only in the sights; you can take part in cultural dances, eat local food, and learn some new skills. Herbalism, anyone? For instance, it is just like a crash class of culture from your living room.

In regard to tourism attractions, don’t be a slave to the conventional. Forget the ordinary, your Sims should have the opportunity to experience being an Indiana Jones within Selvadorada.

Treasure digging, puzzle solving, and so much more – is like you are on a virtual archaeologist mission. However, this sense of accomplishment doesn’t stop at just ordinary vacation photographs.

Don’t you wish your Sims could grab some special memorabilia every now and then? The response to this question is the busy market square of Selvadorada. You can dress up your Sims in weird clothes or even buy them some exotic collectibles. It’s just like carrying a chunk of the jungle home with no weight restrictions.

Buckle up for it’s not just a walking tour of Selvadorada; it is a wild encounter. Fun-loving monkeys, beautiful birds – you have them all!

This is the type of spice that will have you sharing interesting anecdotes with your friends after your holiday.

Say goodbye to predictable vacations as Selvadorada is not a walk in the park for your Sims. It is as if there were secret routes, archaic riddles of the game within a game. From one moment to another, every move makes you wonder what is awaiting for the next turn. It's suspenseful and downright thrilling.

What We Love About Selvadorada:

  • Stunning Aesthetic and Design: Visually speaking, Selvadorada is not eye candy, but food for eyes altogether. Mother Nature must have adjusted her settings on landscapes, ruins and all flowers to full-color mode. From an ancient temple exploration to enjoying some time next to a waterfall, every picture is as good as postcards.
  • Culinary Exploration: You see, it’s possible that virtual food can’t be a delight. The local cuisines of Selvadorada change the game. Your Sims’ taste buds will be surprised by exotic dishes and new recipes. It’s just eating and gaming at once. Bon appétit, Sims!
  • Dynamic Weather and Seasons: The place known as Selvadorada is not a one season wonder. Enjoy different climatic conditions such as sunny days and rain storms in the tropics and make your sims’ vacations feel realistic. Carry an umbrella because rain never knows when it can pour down.

9. Batu - Journey To Batuu

sims 4 sims travel

Hey there, fellow galactic adventurers! Get ready for one of the wildest rides ever, as we travel into Batuu The Sims 4! It is not any ordinary holiday but a space journey to another galaxy. Imagine your Sims in the background of those famous Star Wars sceneries, and then you nailed it. Lets go get some lightsabers and discover why Batuu is not only good for sims but also space thriller that will give your simulation a little bit of sci-fi spice.

This is a paradise for Star Wars fans. Your Sim can become part of the resistance and fight together with friends for freedom or join the First Order army. It’s an imaginary pilgrimage for every fan from another galaxy.

The Sims can forget about regular trips – in Batuu, their Sims are awaiting for interesting missions and quests. Every task feels as if it is a mini-Star Wars adventure with blaster guns and big fights.

Batuu is no ordinary place; it is where one finds their favorite Star Wars character. The journey for your sims will be spiced up further by the presence of such famous figures as Rey, Kylo Ren, and Vi Moradi. You don’t always encounter a resistance hero to take a drink with, or even someone to shoot the breeze with from the dark side of things.

Lightsabers, need I say more? Allow your Sim to experience epic lightsaber duels which are perfect for the little Jedi or Sith inside them. Additionally, the ability to construct and alter droids makes their adventure through space entertaining with another dimension. Who wouldn’t like a companion-astromech?

In fact, the place is not a planet but it acts like a center of space traveling activity. The Millennium Falcon offers your sims a thrilling ride and their friends may cruise in the iconic X- Wing. Their adventure becomes even more exciting with the various modes of transport.

Delve into the esoteric aspect of the Force by engaging in Holocrons and lightsaber customization. For that, your Sims will be able to open ancient knowledge and customize their Sabers.

What We Love About Batuu:

  • Immersive Star Wars Atmosphere: Batuu perfectly captures the Star Wars milieu in such places as the marketplace and the legendary Black Spire Outpost. This level of detail really makes the simulation real, like you have just walked into a Star Wars movie.
  • Holocrons and Lightsaber Customization: Explore the dark side of the Force and the usage of Holocrons, as well as lightsaber customization. As for your Sims, you can allow them to discover some ancient knowledge that is hidden somewhere in the galaxy.
  • Interconnected Star Wars Stories: Batuu is not just a stand-alone experience but it is part of a woven Star Wars story. It also means that fans who are eager to continue their Star Wars adventure away from the movies should visit Batuu in The Sims 4.

There is nothing lonely about Del Sol Valley because it is known to be a hotspot of celebrity mingling. Therefore, your Sims may become friends with celebrities or be right in the middle of intense rivalries. The social dynamics just add more fun to their fame journey.

Like for real, fame also has some good sides which the Sims’ fans will shower your Sims with in Del Sol Valley. The fan interactions also add an innocuous and at times funny dimension to their celebrity lives by requesting for autographs or sending fan mail.

What We Love About Del Sol Valley:

  • Diverse Districts and Neighborhoods: Del Sol Valley is not just a city of one note. It’s a mosaic of different areas. Starting from the busy Starlight Boulevard to the serene suburbs of Mirage Park, every area has its own flavor and provides Sims with different settings to discover.
  • Fashion and Styling Opportunities: Fashionistas will find it paradise on earth in Del Sol Valley. Your Sims will discover a range of sophisticated boutiques, try fashion making, even launch their own clothing brand.
  • The Starlight Accolades: The success of Del Sol Valley isn’t simply an aspect of personal achievement, it is also a platform to be recognized on a global stage. Your Sims will get a chance to participate in a competition for receiving the Starlight Accolades which will help enhance the adventure into the sphere of celebrity.

7. Windenburg - Get Together

sims 4 sims travel

Prepare to ditch the mundane routine as we transport your Sims to the vibrant and bustling city of Windenburg in The Sims 4: Get Together expansion. It is not an ordinary holiday but rather a trip to the vibrant environment of clubs, parties, and friendship. Just imagine Sims at an old ruin having a dance party or having a cup of cappuccino in a typical cafe, and that’s it. Let’s go dancing and see why your Sims don’t need any reason to be in Windenburg — it’s a place that will make even an ordinary life exciting.

However, Windenburg is not an ordinary city – it is an urban agglomeration consisting of several distinctive quarters. The historical Old Town or scenic Countryside creates the perfect setting for the activities of your Sims, allowing you to select different living conditions.

Clubs and Gatherings: Apart from being a place where one can do solo activities, Windenburg is a town of similar minded Sims. There are clubs that your Sims can join or create to put together Sims with common interests. Clubs, for example, be a book club, a party posse or a gang of pranksters brings an additional social dimension into their lives.

Windenburg is not all about quiet evenings with friends; it’s also about crazy parties and other social games. You will give your Sims epic house parties with crashing manners and memories that will be spoken about by Sim generations.

What We Love About Windenburg:

  • Dynamic Nightlife: The truth is Windenburg is not a town of sleep. Nightlife in your sims will be full of life from wild disco dances at the discothèque to romantic star-gazing at the observatory. It is an unending city.
  • Architectural Diversity: What makes Windenburg unique is not just plain identical buildings, but different architectures. The architectural diversity of the modern Tudor-style home to the contemporary apartment provides a distinct sense of place authenticity for the city.
  • Friendship and Social Interaction: Windenburg is more than a residence, it is a community. The Sims have stories too; they will meet, share stories to bond and establish relationships in order to foster friendship in a town. Life is better enjoyed with family and friends!

6. Copperdale - High School Years

sims 4 sims travel

Hey there, students and scholars! Get ready to swap textbooks for friendships and homework for high jinks as we transport your Sims to the spirited halls of Copperdale in The Sims 4: High School Years expansion. It is not a normal school year but an adolescent journey laced with budding friendships, first crushes and memorable experiences. When you imagine your Sims growing through the pits and heights of teenage years, you get it! Let us go to Copperdale, because not only can it make your Sims healthy but the chapter will be vivid enough to remain in the history of their life forever.

Copperdale doesn’t imply only lectures and exams but rather, the setting for adolescent escapades. Each school day will be experienced uniquely by your Sims who will attend classes, participate in games or other activities that involve learning; they will also go through the social intricacies of growing up.

It is not only a school but a mixture of personalities. The simulation of your Sims joining different clubs such as the drama club or chess will enable them to mingle beyond school with friends outside their class.

The drama club provides a forum where your Sims may act out in front of the whole school. Time for your Sims to be in the spotlight.

What We Love About Copperdale:

  • Nostalgic School Architecture: Copperdale is not just some school, but a great piece of nostalgia in school architectural design. The charm of love is within every nook of the school. A place with a history dating all the way back generations can be found in an old locker, to where in the iconic courtyard of the school.
  • Cafeteria Conversations: Copperdale is not only about classes but also a place of school cafeterias for talks and gossip. During lunchtime, your Sims can joke, tell each other stories, and form true friendships outside their academic domain.
  • Emotional Growth and Milestones: Copperdale is not just a staging ground but a pathway for emotional maturity and accomplishments. As the transformative period of high school, it will lead them through difficulties as they create friendships and find out more about themselves, in a world that looks much the same as where we live nowadays.

5. Evergreen Harbor - Eco Lifestyle

sims 4 sims travel

Greetings, eco-conscious Simmers! Prepare to embark on a sustainable journey as we transport your Sims to the thriving community of Evergreen Harbor in The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle expansion. It’s not like this is an ordinary neighborhood; it's living evidence that an ecological way of life is possible. Imagine how your Sims bathe in windlight while watering community gardens and that is the whole idea! With your reusable water bottles, let us find out why Evergreen Harbor isn’t just for your Sims, but also for a green utopia which challenges them on how they should look at their ecological footprint.

It’s a neighbor in Evergreen harbor but not at all one. One green choice at a time of sustainable living for your Sims – from solar panels to wind turbines.

However, Evergreen Harbor is not a passive backdrop for this story, but an active participant in determining its future. You sims can be involved in and take part in voting on community action plans; that will lead to the development of the neighborhood and pushing for green initiatives like vertical gardening or encouraging cycling practices.

One would never think that Evergreen Harbor is all of concrete jungles, but surprisingly, there are flourishing community gardens in the town. These green spaces can be used by your sims to grow organic food, promote communal bonding across the bounds of individual gardens.

Living at Evergreen Harbor is not all about a high rise or modern convenience, it also provides the best rust environment on an off-the-grid basis. There are times you may want your sims to lead a simpler life, use self-driven generators, or live off the grid and discover that it is in touch with nature and helps them get away from all this dependency of electricity.

What We Love About Evergreen Harbor:

  • Architectural Fusion of Nature and Technology: However, the Evergreen Harbor is not just another housing area but rather a piece of art where nature meets hi-tech. The combination of sustainable design and up-to-date facilities makes a striking picture starting from eco friendly homes with winding wind turbines.
  • Flea Market and Community Marketplace: Evergreen Harbor is not only about the big-box stores but also has a vibrant Flea Market and Community Marketplace. As your Sims shop around, you can be sure that they will interact with unique finds, they will be supporting artisan makers and contributing to the circular economy, thus lending some character to their shopping experiences.
  • Dynamic Neighborhood Evolution: Evergreen Harbor is not just a static backcloth; it is a dynamically changing town. Your Sims’ decisions have a direct impact on the environment, creating an eco-friendly neighborhood that mirrors their commitment towards green living and fostering a feeling of empowerment and accountability.

4. Mt. Komorebi - Snowy Escape

sims 4 sims travel

Brace yourselves for an adrenaline-fueled journey as we transport your Sims to the majestic slopes of Mt. Komorebi in The Sims 4: Snowy Escape expansion. This is not only a winter vacation but a real journey into the thick snow white world.ҽ Imagine all the excitement that comes with a sims’ car speeding through fresh snow and taking it all in, bathing in a natural hot spring, etc., and you’ve nailed it! Let’s head to skiing with our snow gear in hand, why not? Your sims will enjoy this fun winter activity along with a relaxing and thrilling experience.

Mount Komorebi is not merely a white wonderland, but an open air resort for breathtaking sport in the winter. Snowboarding and skiing are sure to help your sims create their winter sports memories by learning to successfully carve and get big air during this winter adventure.

This hotspot is not all about activity, it’s also for relaxation. Hot spring bathing will provide your Sims with an opportunity to relax and warm up as temperatures drop in the snow backgrounds. They say it is a perfect way to relax after some days with adventures in the mountains.

it becomes the scene of snowball brawls and winter fun. During winter, your sims can have a ball by fighting with snowballs, slipping over ice patches and making memorable moments at a white paradise.

What We Love About Mt. Komorebi:

  • Architectural Harmony with Nature: Besides, Mt. Komorebi has nothing in common with the functional structures; it is a magnificent building that corresponds to nature. A harmony of awesomeness and calmness is formed when the traditional Japanese-informed architecture perfectly melts with the mountain landscape.
  • Onsen Bathhouse and Cultural Immersion: However, Mt. Komorebi offers not only pastime entertainment but also a cultural one. You could walk your Sims to the onsen bath house, thereby exposing them to Japanese traditions through communal hot springs.
  • Dynamic Weather and Scenic Views: This Mt. Komorebi however is not a mere prop but behaves like any other mountain and experiences diverse weather conditions. The different kinds of weather also ensures that your Sims’ life on a mountain is as realistic and exciting as possible – with such spectacular scenery that they have trouble breathing.

3. Henford-On-Bagley - Cottage Living

sims 4 sims travel

Prepare to trade city skylines for rolling meadows as we transport your Sims to the idyllic countryside of Henford-on-Bagley in The Sims 4: Cottage Living expansion. It is not just a rural retreat but rather a total immersion into the pastoral way of life. Imagine your Sims cultivating healthy gardens, mingling with funny critters, and enjoying all the warmth and beauty of a countryside existence, and you have it. Let me grab my gardening gloves so we can explore why Henford-on-Bagley is not only good for your sims but also a cozy little town where you can take time, relax and put on your heart.

To be certain, “Henford-on-Bagley” is not just another suburb and it celebrates “cottage life” as well as agriculture in action. You will be able to live an agricultural life where your Sims can cultivate crops, take care of animals and know what it feels like.

Interactions will also feature mischievous chickens, cuddly cows and magical llamas thereby making life even more enjoyable for your sims.

The playful gnome games will accompany magic moments to give your sims’ adventure a mystical tone.

What We Love About Henford-on-Bagley:

  • Scenic Countryside Views: Henford–on-Bagley is not your typical neighborhood but rather beautiful scenery and visions. The serene and scenic surroundings consist of rolling meadows up to humble cottages which add some aesthetics to the sleepy town.
  • Seasonal Changes and Harvest Festivities: It is not a static place in any respect because, in Henford-on-bagley, seasons are changing dynamically. The village goes through springs, summers, winters and falls just like every other year. From vibrant springs to calm autumns, it is the cycle of life passing by, marked with its harvest festivals.
  • Cottage Architectural Aesthetics: The town of Henford-on-Bagley is not just any bunch of buildings: it’s an exhibition of couture cottages. Every cottage from thatched roof to charming details helps to define the uniform look of the village.

2. Oasis Springs

sims 4 sims travel

Hey desert explorers and online sun-bathers. Get ready to put on some sunscreen and be with us in the Sims 4's Oasis Springs. There, the sand is hot, watering holes are cold and cacti that grow there have really neat style of clothing. Forget what you think about deserts being only lots of sand because Oasis Springs is like the relaxing spa day for dry areas - calm, fashionable and with just enough sunburn chances. So, let's see why Oasis Springs is not only a desert; it's like the summer break your Sim characters didn't know they needed.

Who knew deserts could bloom? Apparently, Oasis Springs did! They hold Desert Bloom Festivals to enjoy flowers, music and... well what can we say? We're only here for taking desert flower pictures. It's like a Coachella event, but without the flower crowns - oh wait, they even have those.

Nights in Oasis Springs are like a dancing ball made by nature. Sims can come together to look at the stars. It's not just about looking at stars - it's about Sims making wishes on shooting stars and then discussing whose wish will happen first. Spoiler alert: The Sim usually wished for free pizza.

What We Love About Oasis Springs:

Affordable Starter Homes: Oasis Springs isn't just for rich people; it also has cheap houses to start with. Sims can get comfy houses that have both comfort and desert style. This lets lots of Sims own a home in the community, making them feel like it is their place too.

Museum of Modern Art: Oasis Springs isn't only about nature; it also has the Museum of Modern Art. Sims can plunge into modern art shows, cultural happenings and artistic creativity. This adds a bit of high class to the desert view.

Springscape Residential District: Oasis Springs isn't just one place; it also has the Springscape Residential District. Sims can live in this pretty area near water spots, parks and modern buildings. The Springscape area provides a quiet spot in the desert. It mixes city ease with pretty nature scenes.

1. Chestnut Ridge - Horse Ranch

sims 4 sims travel

Hey there fellow Simmers! Are you up for an adrenaline-pumping virtual journey? So grab your seatbelts because we are going to explore the magical realm of a horse ranch known as Chestnut Ridge – Hip City. Trust us, folks, this commentary is going to be an absolute blast to read.

Who doesn't love horses? If you are an experienced rider or even simply a horse lover, look no further than Chestnut Ridge, the ideal spot for your passion. You can groom and train just any horse and later participate in some exciting races thus making you a truly professional equestrian when using the horse ranch.

Chestnut Ridge is going to leave you breathless! This place is an epitome of beauty with great grazing valleys, adorable stable structures, and appealing landscaping. As you go through the entire commentary you will feel like going back to that ideal ranch, where there is the warm Sun making it hot while cool breeze blows off your hair.

It is not a domestic horses’ horse chestnut ridge, it’s a wild horse encounter place as well as a training challenge. Your Sims will have a chance to encounter wild horses in herds offering unique interactions and training as they continue catching them at random times.

What We Love About Chestnut Ridge:

  • Panoramic Countryside Views: Chestnut Ridge, however, is not an ordinary landscape but rather a spectacular painting of the open countryside. The view offers picturesque sceneries including rolling hills and meandering in the river, which become a beautiful background for your Sims’ horses adventures.
  • Authentic Barns and Stables: However, Chestnut Ridge is not about any old buildings -it’s genuinely equipped with genuine old barns, stables and more. The architectural details portray characteristics of a typical equestrian facility, thereby giving an aura of genuineness in the ranchscape.
  • Seasonal Horse Festivals: Chestnut Ridge is not simply another stagnant place and conducts seasonal horse shows. These festivals occur in spring for horse parades and the fall equine celebration where your Sim can show their prize stalls.

How to Vacation in a Residential World in The Sims 4

With more expansion packs coming to The Sims 4 , planning a vacation in a residential world could be a fun getaway for you and your characters. It is usually difficult to enjoy the extreme differences between worlds without substantial planning to visit limited destination spots. However, an update for the game allows those who own DLC areas to vacation in almost any world they please.

With so many diverse areas and hidden worlds in Sims 4 , it can be hard to determine where you want to go. A vacation might be a short trip to Windenburg or a longer stay in an exotic place like Selvadorada. You need to plan for options in areas you want to visit, from what the properties look like there to what you could change to make your stay easier.

Free Sims 4 Update Adds Long Overdue Character Customization Features

How to take a vacation in residential worlds, manage your worlds to plan your arrival.

The best way to take vacations in residential worlds is to convert lots into rental properties and craft special properties that allow you to take vacations in worlds you want to visit. When looking into a possible vacation spot, check to see which lots can be transformed into rental areas. If there are none, you can always start from scratch and build up an empty lot from the start into a planned vacation home.

Some structures like empty homes are easily transitioned into vacation rental properties as you explore your options in a residential world.

Enter the "Manage Worlds" option to select which world you want to add a rental property to, then enter the "Build/Buy" mode to continue. Having free DLC in Sims 4 will help expand your options from here, but go to the Venue Info panel from the house icon in the top left corner of your screen regardless. The "Venue Info" panel opens up at this point to the "Lot Type" dropdown menu to eventually show you the "Rental" prompt.

Selecting this option will turn a property you want into a rental, making it the ideal vacation home for your next trip. You can tell which lots are rental properties by the star icon over the building on a world map in Sims 4 . When you are ready to travel, go into the "Travel" menu from your Sim's phone at your Active Household and choose the "Take a Vacation" option to start the vacation process.

From here, you can choose how many days you want to vacation in your rental property, but you can't enter "Build/Buy" mode again while you're on the temporary lot. Adding a Sim to households rented for a vacation may lead to you lacking some resources for your stay. Thankfully, anyone taking a vacation to a residential world in The Sims 4 can easily use a phone, mailbox, or computer to get what they need.
