A major music festival has released its line up, revealing one big name who will return to Australia for the first time in years.

Iconic music festival Listen Out has unveiled its line up for 2023, delighting fans with the announcement that one massive DJ will return down under.

The festival, which returns to Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney in September, has scored a bevy of international stars including Ice Spice, JPEGMAFIA and Lil Uzi Vert.

The biggest name and headline act, however, will be American DJ Skrillex, who will return to Australia for the first time since his last Listen Out appearance in 2018.

The iconic EDM producer has been on a music festival tour since releasing a new album earlier this year, having linked up with fellow techno stars Four Tet and Fred Again.

Aussie talent will be showcased by local heroes Mallrat, Young Franco and HANDSOME.

More artists are yet to be announced, including a triple j Unearthed spot that is reserved for an emerging artist in each city.

The festival’s smaller sister event, Listen In, will return to Adelaide and Auckland with a condensed line up that still features Ice Spice, Lil Uzi Vert and Skrillex.

Tickets to the festival, which spans the last two Friday and Saturday nights of September, can be picked up from May 18.

Skrillex & Four Tet Are Headlining Listen Out 2023

Fresh from their monster triple-threat show with Fred Again… in Madison Square Garden, both Skrillex and Four Tet are due for Australia in September to headline Listen Out 2023.

Fuzzy’s long-running outdoor music festival, which has taken the reigns from the likes of Parklife and Future Music Festival, will return to four cities while a smaller boutique spin-off called Listen In will pop by Adelaide.

There’s enough scope for all different styles of EDM and more radio-friendly hip hop to once again position Listen Out as one of Australia’s most popular music festivals, That being said, aside from Four Tet and Skrillex there’s nothing that really jumps out for a festival that in the past has pulled in acts like Joey Bada$$, Childish Gambino, Mac Miller, Bryson Tiller, A$AP Rocky and Flume.

Listen Out will start in Brisbane on September 23 and then work its way across Perth and Melbourne before wrapping up in Sydney on September 30. Meanwhile, Adelaide will once again get Listen In, which is a smaller format version of Listen Out with a reduced lineup including Skrillex, Ice Spice, Lil’ Uzi Vert, Arrdee, Friction, Marc Rebillet and Piri.

Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Coi Leray, Piri, venbee, Mallrat and Jyoty are also on the electronic-meets-hip hop festival's lineup.

When Skrillex and Four Tet took to the Coachella stage back in April, they did so to help plug a gap left by Frank Ocean dropping out of the Californian festival's second weekend . When they make the trip Down Under this spring, however, they won't be filling in for anyone, headlining 2023's just-announced lineup for electronic-meets-hip hop festival Listen Out .

Back for another year — after 2022 marked its first gigs since 2019 — this fest will do the rounds throughout September, hitting up Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney over two weekends. This is the first time that Skrillex will play gigs in Australia since Listen Out 2018 and, as well as Four Tet, the DJ and producer will have plenty of company.

Also on the bill: Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Coi Leray, Piri, venbee, Mallrat and Jyoty, as well as Marc Rebillet, Metro Boomin and Kenny Beats. Ebony Boadu will be on hosting duties, and there are still more acts to be announced.

2023's fests mark Listen Out's tenth birthday, and will bring curated stages to its four stops. So, The Atari Stage is primarily about hip hop artists, while 909 Stage features major dance acts. Then, over on the Prophet Stage, you'll enjoy cutting-edge electronic and house acts.

Also hitting the road, albeit just with one stop: Listen In, a condensed version of the fest with a smaller lineup that'll solely play Adelaide.

Folks in South Australia can look forward to Skrillex, Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Piri, Marc Rebillet, Arrdee and Friction, plus more to be announced.

Listen Out 2023 is set to be bigger than ever with Skrillex, Four Tet, Ice Spice, Mallrat, JPEG MAFIA, VV Pete, Lil Uzi Vert and more leading this year's lineup.

The long-awaited lineup for Listen Out 2023 has officially dropped in what's sure to make an epic 10th birthday celebration for the festival.

This year's event is set to be massive, with Skrillex ,  Four Tet   and Metro Boomin  coming hot off their legendary Coachella 2023 set to head Down Under.

They'll also be joined by the likes of  Lil Uzi Vert, Ice Spice, Marc Rebillet, JPEG MAFIA,  VV Pete, Mallrat and more.

Tickets go on sale this Thursday, May 18 at midday via Moshtix (check out times for your local event below). 

Australia’s primary national dance music festival recently announced its return in 2023, with the festival returning to its usual stomping grounds in Brisbane, Sydney and Perth but will be moving to a new venue in Melbourne’s forgotten wonderland,  Caribbean Gardens .

Things are gonna be heating right up this spring with the return of Listen Out festival for another round of red-hot parties around the country.

Hosted by eternal fave Ebony Boadu  year's Listen Out offering features some returning titans and debuts from here and across the pond - including exciting first-time-down-under sets from  Kenny Beats , Piri ,  Venbee .

Joining those big debuts are two of the hottest baddies in the game right now:  Coi Leray  and  Ice Spice .

Two thirds of the world's hottest electronic trio are also locked in, with Four Tet hitting the Listen Out stage for the first time since 2014 and Skrillex making a return following his huge sets in 2018. Two out of three ain't bad, right?

If you just wanna rock, Lil Uzi Vert will have you covered with their first return to Australia in five years. Meanwhile for those keen to get a bit ~saucy~ with it, certified Loop Daddy Marc Rebillet will be bringing his finest robes and horny chaos into the mix.

Update 22/09/2023:  Unfortunately,  Metro Boomin  has postponed his entire Australian tour - including Listen Out - due to personal reasons.

"To my fans in Australia, I'm deeply sorry to tell you I have had to call off my Australia/NZ tour starting this weekend," he said in a statement.

"If you're one of my true fans and you've been following my socials I hope you will understand. Please accept my deepest apologies."

Listen Out has confirmed that all other acts have arrived in Australia and an additional local hip hop act will be announced shortly to replace Metro Boomin.

Update 23/09/2023:  Ahead of the festival hitting Brisbane, Listen Out has confirmed that Western Sydney drill collective  OneFour  will be joining the line-up for the entire run.

Listen Out will be heating up its usual spots in Meanjin/Brisbane, Gadigal Lands/Sydney and Whadjuk Noongar/Perth in late September but party people in Naarm/Melbourne will be headed to a new location this year.

The hoon is going east to the forgotten wonderland of Caribbean Gardens, which has heaps of space for the three stages, tonnes of parking and free buses from the train station to get you in and out of the party.

And Kaurna/Adelaide you're not forgotten — the elite all-ages Listen In fest is returning with sets from Skrillex, Lil Uzi Vert, ArrDee , Friction, Marc Rebillet, Piri and your to-be-revealed Unearthed legend.

About Skrillex

Skrillex is an American electronic music producer best known for his dance and dubstep beats. He first gained recognition as part of the band From First to Last. Skrillex's solo career was launched with the release of his debut EP, My Name Is Skrillex. Released in 2010, it reached the top ten of the US Billboard Dance/Electronic chart. Skrillex has released seven EPs, fourteen singles, five studio albums, and various remixes. He has achieved eight Grammy Awards, including three consecutive Best Dance/Electronic Album awards from 2011 to 2013. He has also done production and remix work with superstars such as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. Skrillex is currently releasing music on his label OWSLA, a venture that began in 2011.
