With infectious and captivating lyrics, reinforced by a commanding groove, Slowcoaster takes you on a ride to the heart of the party with no apologies. Throwing down their high-energy danceable tunes, the Cape Breton trio fuses ska, reggae, hip hop, and classic house influences with their unique brand of funky rock and roll. Having spent the past ten years infiltrating the Canadian live music scene, Slowcoaster has firmly established themselves as one of the country’s most popular jam rock bands.

Slowcoaster’s energetic live show is now infamous in Canada for causing crowd frenzies and instantaneous dance parties. From the moment they step on stage, their one and only goal is to entertain their ever-growing fanbase to the maximum – making ‘em sweat, dance, laugh, sing, scream, and pump their fists. Fan favourites like “Patio” and “F*ck Last Night” take the party to the next level, reaping full crowd participation and simultaneous body bouncing.

Inspired by life’s ironic twists of fate, singer/guitarist Steven MacDougall’s lyrics play hope against desperation and love against anguish while preserving an aura of tongue in cheek humour. Intertwining MacDougall’s stellar guitar skills with bassist Mike LeLievre’s feisty grooves, the two feed off each other, creating a solid dynamic and initiating brilliant improvisations and transitions. Drummer Brian Talbot keeps the pulse pounding, rounding out a secure foundation to the full spectrum Slowcoaster sound.

The Darkest of Discos marks Slowcoaster’s fifth studio album, released in January 2011. Highly anticipated by fans and industry alike, Slowcoaster took Discos on the road in the spring of 2011, hitting Canadian cities coast to coast, and will be playing major festivals this summer. Their polished, addictive recorded sound and their highly potent live performance have secured Slowcoaster as one of Canada’s most paramount independent bands on the scene today.

Music Video: Hauler is a Contemporary Roots Version of Slowcoaster, Debuts With ‘Wind That Shakes the Barley’

If Hauler looks a little familiar to you, that shouldn’t be at all surprising. Two-thirds of the band is comprised of Atlantic Canada’s reggae-rock champions of the festival circuit, Slowcoaster. Today the trio released their first single, a nod to their Celtic roots with a modern arrangement of the 1861 hit “Wind That Shakes the Barley.”

While Hauler’s new single might be the first official release by the band, the trio have actually been playing together for years.

Steven MacDougall and Mike Le Lievre are, of course, immediately recognizable as the singer/guitarist and bassist of Slowcoaster, respectively, and they’ve swapped out their drummer for award-winning fiddle player Colin Grant.

But this project doesn’t mean MacDougall and Le Lievre will be leaving Slowcoaster behind.

“Slowcoaster is far from dead,” says MacDougall. “We are touring all summer and have a huge announcement coming up of where we are recording our new album and who is producing it.

“This is different because it honours our Scottish culture and Cape Breton musical traditions . But I keep the Slowcoaster sensibility of unique song writing.”

That Celtic culture plays a huge part of Hauler’s sound. So far it looks like their focus will be solidly in the trad category.

“We are from Cape Breton, so the love of traditional music is ingrained,” says MacDougall. “We wrote some original songs and arrangements to add a twist of contemporary.”

“The Wind That Shakes the Barley” comes from an 1861 ballad written by Robert Dwyer Royce about the Irish rebellion of 1798, and a young romance that gets dashed in the process.

“I did this for fun and a change of pace. Ironically this is the music I originally started playing as a child,” says MacDougall. “The arrangement for ‘Wind that Shakes the Barley ‘ was written in 1998 while I was hired to play in the Celtic band MacKeel.”

MacKeel never did end up using MacDougall’s arrangement, which he credits to having only played the band for a couple months while their guitarist was on leave (MacDougall notes he was was fired from MacKeel, perhaps after the band mistook him for being untalented).

The arrangement was composed when MacDougall was all of 19 years-old, and with it collecting dust ever since, it seems like the opportunity to release it couldn’t come soon enough.

MacDougall says he left the song to be brushed off and polished by Le Lievre and Grant, with recording being done by Jamie Foulds at his Soundpark Studios, but it was Grant who has taken the lead on Hauler.

“He is the brains behind the operation . I work so hard on Slowcoaster I wanted to take a back seat on this project. I really bow to him, I just wanted to sing and occasionally play the guitar and the Irish drum .”

Hauler will be released their debut self-titled album on May 1, 2020, with tour dates to be announced in the near future. Pre-orders can be made now via Bandcamp.

2024 Zurich Classic live stream, TV schedule, where to watch online, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage

Grab a partner as this team-style event on the pga tour wraps up sunday.

zurich-classic-general-getty.jpg

For the seventh straight year, golfers are in the Bayou taking part in the PGA Tour's annual team-style event. The 2024 Zurich Classic welcomed 80 teams of two as partners hoping to grab a trophy by week's end at TPC Louisiana.

Headlining the action are the two players who seemingly do everything together: Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. The good friends were victorious in their first go around in 2022 but failed to defend their title a season ago. They started well this go-around but will need to make some major gains on Sunday if they hope to win two of three titles in New Orleans.

A new pairing making its debut features world No. 2 Rory McIlroy -- in his first tournament appearance -- playing alongside Shane Lowry. The duo, which has shared Ryder Cup success, is together near the top of the Zurich Classic leaderboard sitting just two strokes back entering the final 18 holes Sunday.

Follow Zurich Classic playoff coverage now that Round 4 has concluded.

Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala also entered as a strong duo on paper, as was the case with Collin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama. Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor hoped to do one better than their runner-up performance in 2023 with Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith also starring as an all-Canadian team. Brothers Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick team up for the second straight year with Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard, plus Parker and Pierceson Coody, also making this week a family affair.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse 2024 tour setlist: Every song they played at Phoenix concert

slowcoaster tour dates

Neil Young brought Crazy Horse to Phoenix for the first since 2003, when the Greendale Tour played what we now call Arizona Financial Theatre.

Saturday’s show at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre was in support of "FU##IN’ UP," a new release that captures Young and Crazy Horse in all their ragged glory.

And they treated Phoenix to a show that put the spotlight on the staples that have made Young one of rock ‘n’ roll's most celebrated elder statesmen, setting the tone with an epic performance of “Cortez the Killer” that lasted roughly 15 minutes.

By the time they brought the concert to a cacophonous conclusion with the glorious racket of “Hey Hey, My My (Into the Black)" and a one-song encore of "Danger Bird," Young and Crazy Horse had powered their way through such classics as “Cinnamon Girl,” “Don’t Cry No Tears” and “Powderfinger.”

Young also took a break from the distortion and his bandmates for a three-song unplugged mini-set, including “Comes a Time” and “Heart of Gold,” before the night was through.

Larisha Paul

Billie Eilish ‘s third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, is just under three weeks away from being released. The singer and songwriter — and current Rolling Stone cover star — has made clear that she won’t be releasing any singles from the record in advance, but she has announced an extensive global arena tour in support of the release.

The Hit Me Hard and Soft tour will mark Eilish’s first return to the road since the conclusion of the Happier Than Ever world tour, which ran for 88 shows from February 2022 through April 2023. This new run of shows will include 81 stops across North America, Australia, and Europe beginning in September 2024 and wrapping in July 2025.

The Australian leg will begin in February 2025, with stops in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. From there, Eilish will head over to Europe in April 2025 for performances in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, London, Dublin, and more.

General sale for the Hit Me Hard and Soft tour will begin on Friday, May 3 via the official Billie Eilish website . The sale will include any tickets remaining following the conclusion of multiple pre-sales, most of which will begin on Tuesday, April 30.

Janet Jackson has announced she will be touring Europe this year, with multiple dates set for across the UK.

The “Together Again” tour marks the star’s 50 th anniversary in the industry as well as 35 years since her landmark 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814 . It had previously been hinted that the singer would be revisiting the UK.

It will be the musician’s first major event in the UK since 2019, when she performed at Glastonbury as part of her world tour for the 30th anniversary of her hit record.

In a video message accompanying the announcement on Monday (29 April), Jackson said: “I just wanted to thank you for making this my most successful tour to date.

“And Europe, I know it’s been a minute since we’ve seen each other. But the wait is no longer, I will be taking the ‘Together Again’ tour all over Europe this fall.

“I cannot wait to see you guys, I miss you so much. We’ve had so much fun with this show, so can’t wait to come and have some of that fun with you guys.”

Fans were delighted, and expressed excitement within minutes of the announcement, wity many writing: “Finally!”

“I’ll be there with bells on! Hotel and transport booked,” said one supporter.

“We have been starved!!!” added another.

Supporters were determined that the anticipated rush for tickets wouldn’t hinder their efforts.

“Janet Jackson has announced another UK tour. Is the fact she is notorious for cancelling her shows going to stop me from frantically searching for tickets on Friday morning…” said one Jackson fan along with a gif of the star saying “No.”

Others said they had waited years for the opportunity to see her.

“I’m so scared I won’t get tickets that my anxiety has shot through the roof. I’ve prayed for times like this for years.”

Billie Eilish announces six London dates as part of 2025 European tour

slowcoaster tour dates

Billie Eilish has announced a new tour in support of her latest album with six dates in London for 2025.

The Hit Me Hard And Soft tour, named after her latest record, begins with a North American leg in September at Centre Videotron in Quebec, Canada.

The dates in the US and Canada run until December, before the 22-year-old US singer heads to Australia in February 2025 ahead of her European dates starting in April at Sweden’s Avicii Arena in Stockholm.

Eilish will then play Glasgow’s OVO Hydro arena from July 7 to July 8 next year before six dates at London’s O2 Arena from July 10.

She will then move to Manchester’s Co-Op Live arena for four dates from July 19 and then will head to Ireland to perform at Dublin’s 3Arena from July 26 to 27.

Fans are encouraged to take “sustainable transport” during the tour, the announcement from Live Nation said.

Eilish also continues to partner with the plant-based food organisation Support + Feed and environmental non-profit organisation REVERB.

The concerts will reduce “greenhouse gas pollution, decreasing single-use plastic waste, supporting climate action, and updating concession offerings to promote and encourage plant-based food options with Support + Feed”.

Eco-Villages from REVERB are also set to be put up in two locations during the show and there will be plant-based food drives, with Support + Feed and fans, to gather goods to distribute to local communities.

The third studio record of Eilish comes out on May 17 and her website says the new body of work should be listened to chronologically as it “hits you hard and soft both lyrically and sonically, while bending genres and defying trends along the way”.

The album cover features the double Oscar -winner on her back underwater with a door open above her.

Eilish’s last album was 2021’s Happier Than Ever, and her debut record When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was released in 2019.
