Growing up in corporate travel under the guidance and knowledge of my father, I’ve learnt to keep out the smoke and mirrors. No bias, no kick-backs, just an honest awareness of the industry.

With a client base built up of over 15 years working in corporate, meetings, incentives, conferences and groups I’ve learned to listen, anticipate and provide results.

Our guide, Rhys, was the best and I’ve made sure we all had an amazing time. However, 27 people to one guide is just entirely too much, not to mention dangerous. Nomads in Sydney was my first ever hostel experience and all you have to do is read the google reviews to know to stay away from there.

In the beginning I was quite nervous to see what the group would be like and the group leaders we were fortunate to have 3 group leaders: Sean, Sarah and Aoife. It was the very first oz east coast in 28 days I had an amazing time and would recommend it to everyone who isn't sure what to do in Australia. You will get to see the best of East coast. I did stuff I would never do at home and am gratefull for the things I did and are still yet to come. I made friends for life and will never forget this experience.

Amazing experience, everything ran smoothly, and I couldn’t recommend it any more than - DO IT! Best time of my life on this tour, action packed days and it was so good to see different parts of Sydney and the wider area you might not have normally. Great value for money!

Amazing time, had an absolute blast! I will 100% be doing another tour. Val was a great tour guide, and helped me with every question I had.

As far as tours go, it's great to have others to enjoy with. Wake Up was a nice hostel with a great breakfast included the first day. That day I chose to take the ferry to Manly where our tour guide Georgia showed us shopping, the beach, and this great acai bowl restaurant. From Sydney we took the 9 hour train ride to surf x camp in arrawara. The teepee I slept in was so cool. The surf lesson was great...but we only had less than 1 hour surfing in the water, if we wanted more we had to pay more, in the afternoon we went for a walk along the beach with some local indiginous people to learn about the plants of the area and try some, we stopped at the campground to find kangaroo. The food at surf X was good. surf x still hasn't sent us the link for the surfing photos though. Byron Bay is a great surf town, although I didn't surf Wake Up had free surfboards available...I had purchased the option to kayak with dolphins and didn't feel like surfing after that. the town had lots of little shops and restaurants and a walk to the lighthouse and furthest easterly point in Australia. The next day we went to Brisbane, after a koala bushwalk where we didn't see koala. In Brisbane check out Southbank and Queen street after dark.

The traditional home of the Gadigal people of the Eora Aboriginal Nation, Sydney has evolved from a humble British penal colony founded in 1788 to a thriving port city.

Today, nearly half of Sydney's residents, known as "Sydneysiders," were born overseas. The city’s rich cultural makeup is now reflected in its diverse food scene, where just about every major international cuisine is represented in increasingly creative ways.

Among the city's most recognizable attractions are the iconic Sydney Opera House, with its distinctive white "sails," and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, affectionately known as the "coat hanger." But there is plenty more to love about this showstopping waterside metropolis.

Sydney's moderate climate and variety of beaches and parks make it ideal for outdoor activities, and an ever-expanding roster of luxury hotels offer plenty of options to lay your head at the end of each day.

Australia is located in the Southern Hemisphere, with opposite seasons to the Northern Hemisphere. Among the best times to visit Sydney for weather are the months of October and November (late spring) or March and April (early autumn) when temperatures are comfortable and the humidity is lower.

The peak times for tourism and the warmest weather are the summer months of December through February. Crowds peak between Christmas and the end of January during the summer school and university holidays. Naturally, prices are higher during this season, but it's ideal  beach weather, with popular festivals and events including the month-long Sydney Festival in January, and the annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade in February.

The low season — May through August — is chillier and prices are lower. It's still a pleasant time to be in Sydney, and the excellent Vivid Sydney festival lights up the city with creative energy in May and June. The Sydney Film Festival is held in June, and the Bondi Festival in July

Electricity: The plug is Type I, with three flat pins in a triangular pattern. Australia uses 220-240 volts (U.S. is 120 volts), so a converter may be needed for certain devices.

Sydney's long-running obsession with artisan coffee makes it easy to find a perfect brew. Some claim the flat white (espresso with steamed milk and only a thin layer of cream) was first served in Sydney.

In general, visitors will find that prices are high in Australia compared to the U.S. (outside New York City, at least), including in Sydney. However, tipping is not customary or expected in Australia where tax and service are included in the bill by law, and minimum wages are higher than in the U.S. For excellent service in restaurants, taxis, hotels, and tours, you may wish to add 10-20 percent as a "thank you."

Retailers that sell alcoholic beverages in Australia are called "bottle shops," and a standard glass of beer is called a "schooner." Smoking is banned in all indoor public spaces and certain outdoor areas, including beaches, national parks, and public transport stops.

Sydney has some of the world’s best tap water; plastic bottled water is available, but frowned upon.

Currently being redeveloped into Australia’s premier destination for all things seafood, the Sydney Fish Market (due to open in 2024) remains operational, featuring seafood retailers, restaurants, and cooking classes.

The Opal card can be used on all public transport, including trains, ferries, buses, and light rail.

Northern Beaches : The scenic 30-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly, at the southern tip of the city's Northern Beaches, is a quintessential Sydney experience (whale sightings are common during the winter months). Manly is also the dining and nightlife hub of the Northern Beaches, which stretches for more than 18 miles, ending at Palm Beach.

Sydney has a humid subtropical climate, with rain spread fairly evenly through the year for a total annual rainfall of about 47 inches. In general, the weather is mild.

Summer (December-February) temperatures reach the high 70s, with humidity in the 60 to 70 percent range. Autumn (March-May) sees less humidity and comfortable temperatures. In winter (June-August), temperatures fall as low as the mid-40s and rainfall is higher. Spring (September-November) becomes warmer with less humidity than summer.

July is the coolest month, and January is generally the hottest. August and September are the driest months of the year.

Bondi & Beyond

Dedicate yourself to the Bondi Bubble, at least just for one day. We promise it’s more than just sun, sea, and lattes. Australia’s most famous beach is a sight to behold, but there are some other hidden gems just around the corner. Lace up your trainers and put on your fanciest workout gear to fully embrace the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk. Starting at Icebergs famous ocean pool, get ready to have your breath taken away by steep staircases, stunning views, and incredible snorkelling spots. Pack your camera, grab your mask, grab your fins, and start trekking.

Blue Mountains

Dust off your hiking boots, rent a car, hop on a train, or jump on a day tour to the Blue Mountains for an epic day out. While it’s definitely worthwhile to check out the world famous Three Sisters, we recommend taking the road less travelled to some more hidden spots like Wentworth Falls and Pulpit Rock. Catch the sunset over the blue haze before heading back to the city to have a fully triumphant day out.

Whilst many people think Newtown is full of hipsters or the more quirky characters of Sydney, it’s the one suburb of Sydney that reminds us more of London than any other. Maybe it’s the locals, maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the huge UK influence, or maybe because it feels like there’s more life than a sterile city feel here.

Whether you are on a backpacking budget or looking to ball out amongst the cultured streets of Newtown, all walks of life are welcome here and will definitely find what they are looking for. We think the best times of the year to visit Sydney are the shoulder seasons which are March to May and from September to November, attracting plenty of interstate and international travellers with heaps of major festivals being the big draw.

How do I get to Sydney?

Much work has been done to the Pacific Highway as of late, so it is definitely an easier process to get to Sydney with a campervan or vehicle of your choosing. There are also Hop On Hop Off Buses that arrive in Sydney regularly, as well as trains running a similar pattern. Sydney’s main airport is located about 15 minutes south of the CBD at Botany Bay, with a second airport located at Bankstown. Airport transfers are always readily available at your quickest needs.
