Oregon's new football facility has finally been completed, and yes, it's just as crazy as you have heard . The $68 million, 145,000-square foot facility funded by Phil Knight has been described as, "Darth Vaderish Death Star," "A little elitist," and "...a little bit too much in the intimidating direction," but it's impossible to say it's not an impressive facility.
Here's a closer look at some of the features.
The building lobby
Includes 64 55" televisions that can be linked together to show one image, or all show something different. Absurd on a multitude of levels.
The team cafeteria
The locker room, the barber shop, the team meeting room, the head coach's office, the coaches' hot tub.
Yes, Oregon coaches have their own hot tub.
The weight room
The coaches' war room.

Oregon Ducks unveil plans for new indoor practice facility
- Updated: Oct. 22, 2021, 10:54 a.m. |
- Published: Oct. 19, 2021, 7:46 p.m.
- James Crepea | The Oregonian/OregonLive
EUGENE — The Oregon Ducks will have a new indoor practice facility.
UO unveiled plans for a new 170,000-square-foot facility between Leo Harris Parkway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where the current outdoor football practice fields are.
Current plans call for a 130,000-square-foot practice field and 40,000-square-foot connector between the field and the Hatfield Dowlin Complex to be built by 2024. The connector will include an “expanded weight room and players’ lounge” and outdoor terrace for team use and events.
The new facility will create “additional access to the Moshofsky Center” for Oregon’s other sports teams, which share the 23-year-old facility with the football team. Opened in 1998, the Moshofsky Center was the first indoor practice facility in the then-Pac-10.
“The core of our mission here at Oregon is to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience and the best possible opportunity to maximize their potential,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said in a statement. “This new facility enhances support for UO student-athletes by combining innovation and functionality in the best possible way while also increasing access to indoor training opportunities for all of our Duck student-athletes.”
The cost of the new indoor practice facility is not specified and will be funded “entirely with private philanthropy and will be managed through the UO Foundation,” per a release.
The exterior shell will be made from Northwest timber in the form of the Oregon “O” with the the center of the roof made of tinted polymer panels supported by a steel cable system, “which allows natural light to reach the field without glare while insulating against heat,” per a release. A ventilation system will be available for use to mitigate air quality issues from wildfires, though the new facility will largely rely on natural ventilation and daylight and be powered with renewable energy generated on site.
“Our world-class labs, classrooms, residence halls and athletic facilities fuel an undeniable passion and inspire excellence in students, faculty, staff and alumni,” UO president Michael Schill said in a release. “This new facility will ensure that our student-athletes can continue to push themselves without limits and compete on a global scale.”

Let's take a photo tour of Oregon's new football facility
At the beginning of the month we showed you the exterior of Oregon's new football facility , an imposing fortress that would make the most ambitious supervillain comfortable. We now know what the interior looks like, thanks to GoDucks.com , so allow us to take a quick tour of the $68 million House Uncle Phil Built . (All images are by Eric Evans. For more photos, click here .)
This is just your normal lobby, featuring a receptionist desk and 64 flat screens that be programed separately or together for one giant image. Just your usual lobby stuff.
The mirrors in the coaches' bathrooms have televisions in them, as mirrors are wont to do.
When you're done watching game film in the theater, the screen retracts to reveal a giant window looking at Autzen Stadium.
The locker doors slide into the locker, allowing the players (or robots, whichever) to communicate with one another with ease.
You can use this to game plan for Stanford or also plan an assault on multiple world capitals. You could probably use it for both at the same time, not that I'm endorsing that plan.
These ducks in the skybridge (yeah, no duh, there is a skybridge) honor former Oregon players who have been drafted to the NFL.
Just a nice, casual hydrotherapy pool in the coaches' locker room that looks like something you'd find at the Playboy Mansion.
The weight room, with a massive mural at the far end.
For more of the facility, check out our Yahoo Sports gallery here .

Oregon unveils its new multimillion dollar football complex.
If money can buy championships, then the pressure is on the University of Oregon Ducks, because inside its new Football Performance Center, money is no object.
The facility, formally named the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex, was funded by billionaire alum Phil Knight of Nike and his wife, Penny (the center is named for their mothers). Neither Knight nor the university would say how much the six-story behemoth cost, but some estimates peg it at $68 million.
(Read more: Sports, crime and money: Athletes gone bad )
Within the black glass walls is 145,000 square feet of Italian marble, hand hewn basalt rock, bacteria-resistant surfaces, and walnut so pristine that the school says Knight's construction team rejected 96 percent of it. From the outside, its black glass surface makes it look a bit like a rectangular Death Star ... or Duck Star.
Among the amenities:
- A players lounge with Italian leather furniture, rugs hand-woven in Nepal, custom Playstation consoles bearing duck wings, a pool table from the same company that made one for Michael Jackson, and a custom-made foosball table with Oregon players going up against Pac-12 rivals.
- A coaching staff "War Room" surrounded by black glass walls you can write on, a 32-foot-long German-made table on top of a rug that weighs 500 pounds. It's been nicknamed "Area 51."
- A space-age locker room requiring a biometric thumbprint to enter, codes to open lockers, individual ventilation systems to keep the locker room odor free, and a locker shelf that shifts downward to put the helmet and should pads within arms reach.
- The head coach's office has windows on three sides overlooking three new practice fields, and there's a special hot tub for the coaching staff, with televisions embedded in bathroom mirrors.
- An auditorium with 170 seats covered in Ferrari leather, with each seat tested to bear as much as 500 pounds.
- A 25,000-square-foot weight room with floors made of Brazilian Ipe wood, considered so hard it bends nails.
(Read more: How Twitter changed the way NBA fans watch )
The school says it leased the land next to Autzen Stadium to Knight's foundation. The foundation built (and in some cases rebuilt) the facility and has donated it back to the school as a gift. Now the state-owned university is pitching "naming opportunities" for other supporters to cover maintenance costs.
Many have nicknamed the school the University of Nike, but the athletic director embraces the moniker, calling the new center the "economic engine" for the entire athletic program (all student athletes regardless of sport are allowed to use the state of the art cafeteria).
It is over the top, but is it enough to push Oregon finally to win the BCS Championship after being an also-ran for years? The school is dealing with relatively mild NCAA penalties for recruiting violations, and it lost head coach Chip Kelly to the Philadelphia Eagles this season.
Still, Oregon is looking ahead. College recruiting is an arms race, and the Duck Star may be a nuclear weapon.

Rerouting of nearby roadway is one of the many changes needed before facility is constructed
EUGENE, Ore.— Eugene residents are both optimistic and concerned about the newly started construction next to Autzen stadium. Crews are beginning to break ground on the University of Oregon’s planned expansion of their football facility.
Peter Kukla is the Community Engagement Director for the Eugene Science Center. The facility he works at is directly in the middle of the large construction effort. Crews had recently put up construction fences around the Science Center and the surrounding grassland. The construction permit shows that the area will be adding parking lots, walkways, and erosion protection, all to get the area ready for the eventual rerouting of Leo Harris Parkway. Kukla said the center will still remain open throughout the entirety of the construction.
“We should be accessible one way or another and we will make sure to publicly post how to best access our building," Kukla said. “We're still getting back from our pre-Covid numbers, and we're getting pretty close to where we were there.”
Although the Science Center is going to be in the middle of a work zone for several years, Kukla said his fellow staff members are excited at the possibility of the area changing. Kukla said management are planning to expand their own facility with some help from the community.
“We're staying here and expanding, which is helping us to better reach the community and provide access to the community," Kukla said.
Visitors walking the trails nearby were able to get a firsthand look at the construction zone. Davis Long was running by the surrounding gated areas and personally knew about the expansion process beforehand. Long said although the area does not yet look promising, he believes it will in the years following.
“I'm sure coming here in two or three years will be amazing to marvel at it and we're already so lucky with what we got,” Long said. “We need to understand that's going to make the future way cooler.”
Other residents said they are skeptical about the expansion of the football facility. A major point of worry for some is the effects on the existing trails and animals that live in the area. Long shared some of the concerns being made by others and hopes the project is done in a safe manner. But Long said the area and Eugene as a whole continues to change for the better of the community and feels the facility would do the same.
“Just seeing all the construction and all the things that have happened since is awesome to see the city kind of change and get better in ways,” Long said. “I understand that people like the past but I don’t think they would have done it unless they really felt this is what the future holds."
Kukla and his staff have already started to plan for their own expansion of their facility. Kukla said it’s because of the University’s expansion project that now the Science Center is willing to building upon their facility.
“The construction and the expansion of the Autzen complex has impacted us for sure and shifted our land lease a little bit,” Kukla said. “But it ultimately is giving us an opportunity to expand and I think that's the exciting part of all this"
The staff at the Eugene Science Center said they will be soon starting Fundraiser events to help with expansion costs. Along with encouraging the community to help volunteer as construction continues on.

Several former ducks schedule upcoming visits with nfl teams, share this article.
The NFL Draft is less than one month away, and college prospects from around the country are finalizing their preparations for the 2024 draft by showcasing their skills at pro days and meeting with NFL teams.
For the Oregon Ducks, the 2024 NFL Draft is shaping up to be a historic one. More than 10 Ducks have the potential to be drafted, and for the first time since 2015, we could see multiple Ducks selected in the first round.
On Wednesday, it was announced that several Ducks will be visiting with NFL teams in the coming weeks. Each NFL team can extend up to thirty invites to draft prospects to tour their facilities, meet with the team, and take a physical. These meetings are called top 30 visits.
According to James Crepea of the Oregonian , defensive linemen Brandon Dorlus and Taki Taimani each have top 30 visits on the books, and outside linebacker Mase Funa will be participating in the Los Angeles Chargers prospect day. Muck Sports Representation also announced that inside linebacker Jamal Hill will be taking part in the Atlanta Falcons’ prospect day and taking multiple top 30 visits.
A month before the draft, Dorlus is expected to be a second or third-round pick, but the other three players mentioned are on the fringe of being selected, so impressing teams in these visits will be crucial. Hill has already done a good job of raising his draft stock this offseason, running an elite 4.41-second 40-yard dash at Oregon’s Pro Day two weeks ago.

'He's ready now': How touted Oregon football receiver Jurrion Dickey attacked offseason
After mostly getting his body right last season and learning from veteran receivers like Troy Franklin, Oregon redshirt freshman receiver Jurrion Dickey might be ready for his time in the spotlight following a strong offseason.
A former five-star recruit and the crown jewel of Oregon's 2023 recruiting class, Dickey came to Oregon in the fall while still recovering from a torn meniscus he suffered during his senior season at Menlo-Atherton High School in California.
While recouping and getting in game shape, Dickey got to watch Franklin, another former Menlo-Atherton standout, break almost every Oregon receiving record in the book last year.
Now it's Dickey's turn, at least per offensive coordinator Will Stein.
"He wasn't ready," Stein said. "He's a phenomenal player. He's ready now. But it takes time. When guys can succumb to the process and understand that it doesn't happen overnight, take a deep breath and realize I'm at a great place, the best place to play college football in the country and that I can grow and develop, then when their time comes they're ready to play and there's no mistakes."
Standing at an imposing 6-foot-2 and weighing in at 215 pounds last year as a true freshman, Dickey has the unique size and strength to contribute early and often, even in a crowded receiver room.
Stein said Dickey turned a corner during bowl prep, when he finally reached 100% health and could go through walk-throughs and install periods with the knowledge he needed to run full speed.
"He gets lined up like that, he runs his route, and now he looks like the player we all anticipated he would look like," Stein said. "And he's in shape, and he's healthy. I love that kid, he has worked his tail off to get in good shape to go out and produce for us. The sky's the limit for Jurrion."
Through two practices of spring ball, offseason workouts and conditioning, Stein has been impressed with how Dickey has looked now at full health. In a loaded receiver room featuring returners Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden, Gary Bryant Jr. and newcomers like Texas A&M transfer Evan Stewart, don't discount former five-star Dickey once fall camp rolls around.
"When the ball is up in the air, go make the play," Stein said of the next step for Dickey. "We expect him to go catch the ball. It shouldn't be a 50-50 for him, he should go up and make the play, and that's what he's shown."

Simple Highlight Video From Visit Shows Arkansas Has Everything Recruits Need
2026 quarterback shares video highlight visit with Razorbacks on social media
- Author: Jacob Davis
In this story:
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It was a matter of time before Bobby Petrino began pulling in quarterback prospects from all over the country for visits. 2026 Montana quarterback Jackson Presley seemed to come away very impressed, according to a video posted on his X account which recapped his experience.
🐗 Woo Pig Sooie #WPS | #BTruQBTraining 🔘 3⭐️ 2026 QB Trainee: @JacksonPresley4 (Glacier HS - Montana) Unofficial Visit @RazorbackFB pic.twitter.com/TDiLfLG8E0 — Baylin Trujillo (@baylintrujillo) March 30, 2024
The drive to the stadium, especially when turning off Maple Street onto Stadium Drive can still draw excitement even with the northwest corner partially enclosed. Seeing the statue of wild boar hogs is a unique addition on the descent of the hill.
According to Blue Blood Bias rankings, Arkansas has one of the best college football facilities in America. By the look of the video, Presley was impressed with the Fred Smith Center and being greeted by offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino. Presley was able to see Razorback football history including bowl wins, greatest teams, the national championship team and two-time Heisman runner up Darren McFadden’s lore. The weight room overlooking the indoor practice facility would send chills down anyone’s body.

The tour looked like something from the old MTV show ‘Cribs.’ Prospects get to walk through the locker room area where student athletes can chill after games and practices throughout the week. The lounge has foosball tables, a few couches to sit and a movie screen to watch TV. Gatorade coolers line one wall along with arcade style games. The locker room also includes captain's chairs, stalls for each scholarship player with nameplates above each seat, and state-of-the-art training rooms.
For recruits, Arkansas offers them everything they want at the collegiate level to be successful. It also helps for Presley to be impressed by Arkansas as his father, Brian, played for the Razorbacks as a back-up quarterback under Danny Ford.
Presley is a 3-star prospect per Rivals and ranks as the No. 23 quarterback prospect in the country. Most recruits over the past decade who come from the Treasure State often sign with the two in-state schools, Montana or Montana State. In fact, the last Montana quarterback prospect to play meaningful snaps at the FBS level is former No. 2 NFL draft pick Ryan Leaf. With Petrino being from the same state, there is strong interest between Presley and Arkansas.
"Coach Petrino is a great coach with a long list of quarterbacks he has coached [with great success],” Presley said. “It was very cool to see him work with the quarterbacks and work the offense. It’s also very special that we both came from Montana.”
With family in nearby Tulsa, Oklahoma, Presley wouldn’t be too far out of his comfort zone and is impressed with everything Arkansas has to offer.
"Everything was amazing,” Presley said. “From the coaches, to the people, to the campus, everything was fantastic.”
While Presley’s recruiting is starting to take off just a tad, it looks like he will be one of the top prospects to hail from Montana in a long time. He has an offer from Arkansas. Presley has also been in contact with Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee and West Virginia.
“I’m extremely thankful and excited to see where God takes my football journey,” Presley said.
The 6-foot-2, 200 pound quarterback completed 68% of his passes for 3,053 yards, 28 touchdowns and four interceptions as a first time starter in 2023.
Presley’s quarterback coach, Baylin Trujillo, also came away impressed by Arkansas as a whole.
“I was very impressed with the access all these players have from a physical and mental standpoint,” Trujillo said. “They have everything you want and the facilities are beautiful. But I loved how everyone seemed to care for each other! Really genuine people!”
The two have only been working together a short time, but that doesn’t keep Trujillo from thinking highly of his young quarterback.
“He is an extremely athletic quarterback that is extremely accurate on the run,” Trujillo said. “He is a true competitor and has a high IQ for the game. Kid is just a winner and has been in the spotlight his whole life. His dad was a former D1 QB at Arkansas and being in the film industry nothing really phases him. He’s built for big moments.”
