TOURS VB - ACH Volley LJUBLJANA

• TOURS VB will play its final CEV Champions League Volley 2024 Pool B match against Ach LJUBLJANA of Slovenia. The match kicks off at 20:00 in the Salle Grenon.
• The last time Tours hosted Ljubljana was in the 2013/2014 group stage of the Champions League, which also included an Italian team (Copra Piacenza) and a Polish team (Jastrebski Wiegel)...but also a Bulgarian team (Marek Doupnitsa).
• As in the previous match against Rszezow, TOURS VB's Brazilian opposite Aboubacar DRAME NETO will be in the squad, although he is still a doubt.
• Substitute opposite Julien FAGANAS is also injured (abdominal problems) and will be replaced by Clément AYA DIOKO, a product of the training centre.
• Tours are hoping to fill their arena for this decisive match for qualification for the play-offs, and will be able to count on more than 250 of the club's youngsters and their families.

• Radovan Gačič (coach): "As far as we are concerned, things in Group B have been clear for us for some time, so in this game, we will try to showcase the best performance and bid farewell to this year's Champions League with a victory. We will definitely face a strong Tours team, which has already proven several times this season how exceptional they are. The players are ready and motivated to leave France with good feelings."

Tours Volley-ball Website Review

The second club website under scrutiny belongs to Tours Volley-ball . Noliko Maaseik were quite happy with their review. Let’s see what Tours will say.

Anyway, I spent one successful season in Tours. It was my second foreign club after Noliko . Tours has been one of Europe’s elite clubs for more than 15 years, multiple French champion, French cup winner, and regular Champions league participant. In my memories, apart from good volleyball and the powerful Vladimir Alekno as coach, Tours was a pleasant city with superb vines, restaurants, and many historical castles a short distance away.

Let’s go to work.

Overall design

I open Tours’ website. No, wait, I change my mind. I want to see Tours’ website on my Iphone. I open it on my Iphone Safari and… It’s the same story as with Noliko Maaseik’s website. Try it out yourselves. Or you want me to tell you? Ok. You won’t search or open their site on your mobile anymore. Why? There is no mobile version or responsiveness. You will see small, unreadable text size. The menu is hard to touch. Zooming is necessary. Simply a big minus.

The Blue inner part of the website with content is ok. The outer part is just a grey background. Grey is very often used as background color, but in my opinion it isn’t tempting to click on and doesn’t bring emotions.

Once you scroll down the page a bit, you see a section with images and a shop. It isn’t well-organized and contains a bigger image plus small banners alongside an online shop and ticket sales section. I would adjust it a bit. Also, the Facebook box could be done better with a life feed of the last posts.

At the bottom you see partners section. This is the right place to show partners’ logos. On the other hand, multiple-sized images on a grey background don’t look professional.

Another thing is the light blue text on the blue background. Even if you have a good vision, it is missing a better color contrast for better readability.

Ok, enough. Let’s check how easy it is to go through Tours’ website.

Ease of use

It isn’t hard to navigate through their website. You have a menu, a search box, social icons, and other basics in the right place. Let’s try their search query. I type “tours” in the search box and… Try it out yourselves, too! What did you get? I get some error page as a result. Well, that’s a BIG error. Let’s try another word, e.g. “france”. This turns out to be another STOP word not to search for since the query returns the same error page. Come on, Tours, I want better searching!

The content is in my way now.

I could be a new, potential fan, so I am eager to read news, something about the team or the players. I click on the first image in the top slideshow and I get NOTHING. There is no link to an article, no link to a photo gallery or an image. Why is this section placed here? I don’t know. So I move to the “Resultats” box. Again, I click on some text links and no action follows! At least there is a link to all results in the right box next to the table. But the most prominent space on the page is not used as it should, if I can say politely.

In fact, if you scan through the whole homepage, you won’t find a single article. You get only a small photo gallery. Hence you won’t need to revisit Tour’s homepage often as you won’t receive fresh content.

I go deeper inside the page’s structure via the menu links. Finally, I find some more photos and a few videos. Articles? None.

Information

I hope it will be a better experience than with the content and yes, it seems so. Now I get what I want. I see almost everything what you need as a fan. Information about the club, rosters, tickets, hall info, etc. I just want to point out the shop. It offers many things for fans, I like it. You can download the catalogue, choose whatever you want, call or write to the club in order to buy it. Quite a long process. For us, fans, it would be better to have a simple e-shop. At least I would vote for it.

Social sites

Tours’ Facebook page is my destination now. 13 000 fans (in January, 2017) follow the club on Facebook. I have to admit that it isn’t a huge fan base. However, Tours are doing a good job over there. Fresh posts, events, photos, videos after games. Thumbs up! The Twitter profile is also well-maintained. Several posts a day is great. This is the right way to use Twitter. 1 200 fans. It could be better, though.

My resume? Tours doesn’t get a lot from its website . To me, It’s kind of a static presentation. I can get results, table of the French Pro A league, a page with statistics. Apart from some information, there is nothing exciting that makes me come back. Even if I can find a few positive points, the website lacks a lot and I am not satisfied.

Orange crush: Boats packed with revelers tour Amsterdam canals to celebrate the king’s birthday

AMSTERDAM (AP) — Decked in the national orange color, dancing to music, and eating orange-glazed pastries, many in the Netherlands Saturday are marking King’s Day, celebrating the birthday of their monarch who is enjoying a very slight rise in popularity as per a national poll.

As King Willem-Alexander celebrated his 57th birthday with his family in the northeastern city of Emmen, people across the country engaged in the traditional “free markets” held on that day, selling second-hand toys, books and other items. Others toured through the historic canals of the capital, Amsterdam as orange smoke from flares held aloft one boat drifted over vessels of all shapes and sizes jostling for space on a busy canal.

“Celebrating your birthday with your own family is the most beautiful thing you can experience. I'm very happy everybody is back,” Willem-Alexander told Dutch broadcaster NOS during a walkabout in Emmen, 190 kilometers (120 miles) northeast of the Dutch capital.

An annual poll published by the NOS for King’s Day showed Willem-Alexander’s popularity edging up very slightly since last year to 6.6 out of 10. His Argentine-born wife, Queen Maxima, scored 7.1 out of 10 in the poll of 1,015 people, conducted earlier this month.

The royals’ popularity took a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic after Willem-Alexander and his family went on vacation in Greece during a partial lockdown. The royals cut short their break amid national uproar and Willem-Alexander took the unusual step of issuing a video message to express his regret and contrition for the trip.

The king’s three daughters, Amalia, Alexia and Ariane have all spent time out of the country recently — Ariane has been studying in Italy while Alexia has taken a gap year to travel. The eldest and heir to the Dutch throne, Amalia, also returned ahead of the king’s birthday after being forced to leave her student accommodation in Amsterdam and move to Madrid following threats from the criminal underworld.

Amalia, 20, who is studying politics, psychology, law and economics at Amsterdam University, told NOS she was “extremely grateful to everybody who made it possible” for her to live in Spain, where she said she was able to enjoy more freedom than in the Netherlands.

But, she added: “I’m glad to be back.”

15-year-old Miles Russell continues to play well on the Korn Ferry Tour, despite his youth and inexperience.

Miles Russell continues to prove himself on the biggest of stages.

The 15-year-old Floridian earned a spot in last week’s LECOM Suncoast Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour and took full advantage of the opportunity by finishing in a tie for 15th. That paved the way for another exemption in Texas, where Russell opened the Veritex Bank Championship with a 3-under 68.

The left-hander opened his round with eight straight pars but finally broke through with a birdie at the par-5 9th. A long-range bomb from 30 feet followed at 11, and another birdie at the par-3 12th came minutes after. Suddenly, Russell sat at 3-under and in a solid position through 12 holes.

Russell made another birdie at the drivable, par-4 16th, which measured 329 yards on Thursday. But he made a costly mistake on the final hole, a par-5, as he three-putted from 25 feet for a bogey six.

Still, Russell played beautifully from tee to green, hitting 13-of-14 fairways and 16-of-18 greens. He scrambled nicely, too, going 2-for-2 when he missed the putting surface with his approaches.

But at the end of the day, Russell is 10 strokes behind Frankie Capan III, who shot 58 and broke Scottie Scheffler’s course record in the process.

Still, Russell has a great chance to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour again—one week after becoming the youngest player to record a top-25 finish on the PGA Tour or Korn Ferry Tour since 1983.

He will likely need another round in the 60s to make the cut again, but knowing how much talent this 15-year-old has, that is most certainly within the realm of possibilities.

Forget anti-heroes ... a grandma in New Mexico is a full-blown hero after shooting an intruder who was on the run from cops -- right in the middle of Taylor Swift 's "Eras" flick!

Anissa Tinnin was watching the movie version of Taylor's tour with her granddaughter. They were having a great time, singing, dancing, popping M&M's ... when a guy named Joseph Rivera came charging through her front door. Turns out Rivera had allegedly stolen a car and cops were on to him.

Tinnin says she was manhandled, threatened and ordered to turn over her car keys, which she did. She says, "I told him not to hurt us ... I would do whatever he wanted."

She says when Rivera walked outside, she called 911 and beelined it for her gun case, where she removed a weapon.

For some reason, Rivera came back inside the house. By this time she had put her granddaughter in a bedroom for safety, but the guy came charging at her.

She screamed, "Get back. I will f***ing shoot you! " ... and she did. He asked why she did it, and Tinnin responded, "Because you're in my f***ing house!"

Tinnin even showed compassion, rendering first aid by putting pressure on the wound.

But, she warned Rivera ... one false move and she'd shoot again.

Cops showed up and Rivera is now in custody, charged with burglary, auto theft and other crimes.

Dude has 5 prior felony convictions for burglaries and theft, the stakes were high for Tinnin, and she rose to the occasion.
