I will show you some of the best ways to travel with tea by taking your teaware and tea to go. There are many creative ways to take your favorite tea with you!

Here's what you'll need for tea in the park, at the beach, on a hike, or any place you may picnic.

Best Tea Infuser Mugs

tea to Go Tea Forte floral infuser mug

I've used this tea infuser mug I bought from Tea Forte for years. It has a stainless steel infusing basket that sits inside and a lid that keeps the tea warm. The inverted top can then set the basket on to catch any drippings after the tea is finished steeping.

You can bring your favorite tea leaves to work and keep them stored in an airtight tin and use the hot water from the office coffee machine for steeping.

Another tea infuser travel mug I love is this steeping mug and infuser from The Tea Spot simply because of the beautiful design and generous size. It even has a steeping guide printed on the back. The mug is double-walled ceramic allowing for excellent insulation. I bought this tea travel mug set for my daughter, who takes it everywhere!

Best Electric Tea Kettle

travel tea brewing

The other option is to bring an electric kettle if you're going to be in one place for a while, such as an office. I like the Bonavita  or the Cuisinart model because they have variable temperatures and elegant designs. Bonavita does make less expensive models that you wouldn't mind leaving at work.

Best Travel Tea Tumbler

A quality traveler tea infuser tumbler is a must-have when you're taking tea to go. Most are well-insulated, making them perfect for hot or iced tea.

What to look for in a good tea infuser tumbler:

  • Double-walled stainless steel to keep hot or cold for hours.
  • A good seal that does not leak.
  • A screw-on lid to survive accidental dropping or tossing in backpacks.
  • A large stainless steel removable infuser.
  • Easy to take apart and clean.

My daughter bought me a travel tea tumbler from Teavana, which has a built-in stainless steel infuser…it is the best thing ever. I bring this whenever I travel. I can even store tea inside the tumbler in a sealed bag while it's not being used. I highly recommend investing in a quality tea tumbler if you don't have one already. This tea thermos keeps my tea piping hot for hours.

The Tea Spot Mountain Tea Tumbler

Best Travel with Tea Tumbler

Now that Teavana is no longer, I looked for a replacement tea tumbler to recommend to my readers. As you know, I love The Tea Spot , and I came across their Mountain Tea Tumbler from their Steepware collection, which I love. It checks off all of my must-haves for a great tea tumbler.

This tumbler won the 2018 World Tea Award for the best tea brewing device - (non-electric).

The stainless steel basket infuser is larger than the Teavana one, so it's perfect for infusing larger whole-leaf teas. Another plus to the infusing basket is that it's large enough to add fruit pieces to flavor your tea or simply flavor water for a cold refreshing drink.

Free Shipping on Orders over $60

I much prefer the stainless steel-lined tumblers and the stainless steel infuser baskets. They're more durable and easier to keep clean. I'm not a fan of the plastic infuser baskets. They're harder to clean and stain too easily.

Food-grade stainless steel, glass, and porcelain are my first choices for any food or beverage because they are chemically inert. There's no need to worry about harmful chemicals leaching into your drink.

Best Glass Tea Tumbler

travel tea brewing

The urban glass tumbler from The Tea Spot is another of my favorites. I tend to use this for my cold-brew tea. I like the glass so I can see the cold tea infusions. The generous-sized stainless steel basket effortlessly infuses my favorite oolongs.

You can also use it for steeping hot tea since it's constructed of borosilicate glass. The stainless steel lids come off at both ends for easy cleaning. The cork sleeve and strap make this tumbler easy to hold and carry. The design is stylish and fits my car cup holders or bike beverage holders.

Best Travel Tea Set for Gong Fu Brewing

Taking a teapot, cups, and leaves can be a hassle when you're on the go, especially if you like to brew your tea gong fu style.

Generally, gong fu brewing uses more tea leaves than water, with considerably short brewing times. The process is repeated to extract the varying flavors released from the same tea leaves.

This is a style of brewing that uses a small teapot of some sort. It could be a Gaiwan (guy wan), Yixing (ee shing) teapot, or small porcelain teapot.

A Gaiwan is usually made from porcelain, while a Yixing is unglazed and made from red or purple clay. This is purposeful. The clay absorbs the tea flavor over time and continues adding to the brewed tea's complexity. This is why dedicating Yixing to one type of tea is recommended.

OhMy Travel Gongfu tea set

OMyTea sells this delightful portable porcelain gong fu style tea brewing set all wrapped together in a convenient travel pouch. I highly recommend this tea set if you must have your tea gong fu style while traveling. How cute is this set??

Best Tea Filter Bags

I don't mind the hassle of bringing my tea, but I want to keep things simple. Bringing bagged tea is the simplest solution; if you choose that route, you have a few options.

  • Buy a good quality bagged tea. I recommend several online retailers that carry quality bagged tea.
  • Buying quality loose-leaf tea packed in sachets and placing them in a travel tin is the easiest way to make tea on the road.
  • Usually, I will bring a good quality full-leaf tea in a pyramid bag from Adagio or The Tea Spot and brew my tea with whatever hot water is available from the hotel or café.
  • You can also make your own bagged tea from your favorite loose-leaf tea.

travel tea brewing

If you want to make your tea sachets, the best ones I've found are made by Bstean tea filter bags. I like these because they are large and easily hold a healthy teaspoon of loose-leaf tea with room for the leaves to expand.

They come in two sizes and are made of unbleached natural paper, so there's no funny taste in your tea. The drawstring design is better than the fold-over flap style. I recommend buying the larger size for loose-leaf teas.

Best Travel Tea Sets

Zens Lifestyle makes clean, straightforward design teaware. Many of their products have won design awards. Their portable teaware is excellent to use on short trips. They have two different sizes. The smaller one is for individuals, and the larger set is for two people.

The Mobile Moon Tea Set is designed for traveling with a companion tea drinker. It makes an excellent little carrier for picnics. The teapot is made of borosilicate glass with two double-walled glass cups and a traveling case.

Zens's other product is a portable borosilicate glass travel tea set and tea infuser all in one. It comes with a 7.7-ounce teapot, a stainless steel infuser, and a double-walled cup packaged in a trendy little tote bag.

Zens Lifestyle makes beautiful products if you're looking for a stylish product for tea on the go. It's so easy to use the Zens Lifestyle portable travel tea set. The travel set allows you to infuse your tea in the upper chamber and, with a button, release the brewed tea through a stainless steel screen into the lower chamber glass cup.

Best Hot Water Thermos

travel tea brewing

Don't forget the hot water! THERMOS makes a large-capacity tumbler stainless steel vacuum insulated to keep liquids hot for 24 hours. The stainless steel exterior remains cool to the touch with hot drinks. The king-size holds 68 ounces - enough to keep you brewing tea all day!

Best Practices When Traveling with Loose Leaf Tea

  • Only pack easygoing and simple-to-steep teas, like black teas or robust oolongs that can take boiling water.
  • Choose pre-packaged or pre-fill your sachets with premium loose tea.
  • Pack teas that use boiling point water since the hottest water available in hotels and cafés are boiling point temperature.
  • Think twice before bringing teas requiring lower temperatures or pack a thermometer.
  • Or leave the more delicate teas at home.
  • Learn to live with premade teas on the go. (I know, know).

Can You Bring Tea on a Plane?

  • In general, yes, don't worry.
  • I've never had any problems with tea sachets in bags placed in my carry-on.
  • You shouldn't have problems with dried food products as long as they are in sealed packaging.
  • Customs officials don't care unless the declared goods' stated value is exceptionally high or it's an agricultural product. Dried and processed tea is an agricultural product. However, it's not a live agricultural product.
  • To be safe, I would perhaps store the tea in a tea canister or bag instead of loosely in a ziplock sandwich bag, making it look like something else entirely. Until you smell it, of course!
  • International travelers are permitted to bring without restriction any quantity of products composed solely of   tea leaves ( Camellia sinensis:  includes black tea, green tea, oolong, dark tea, white tea, and yellow tea). As with all agricultural products, you must declare the product at entry. Source

Forgo Tea to Go

Maybe you couldn't be bothered and have decided to just take your chances and not travel with tea. Truthfully, if you're traveling to a tea-drinking country, chances are you may find some excellent teas to try. Explore and drink whatever tea is available where you're going.

I have a friend who travels from England to the United States and always brings her tea. It's in the form of tea bags, which most Brits drink. But it is still so much better than the majority of black-bagged grocery store tea available here in the states.

On the flip side, when we traveled to Italy, I knew the chances of getting good tea were pretty slim. I was very excited when we came upon a specialty tea café in the Piazza Navona in Rome, but unfortunately, it was closed for renovations. As was the Trevi Fountain, an omen telling me I must return.

Instead, I discovered some excellent espresso, cappuccino, and red wine. My point is that a short time without your favorite tea won't hurt and may open a world of new beverage discoveries.

Mastering the art of tea: an intricate journey through time-honored brewing techniques.

travel tea brewing

I have always been intrigued by the craftsmanship of preparing tea. It is a precise and patient process where every detail, from steeping time to water temperature, plays a crucial role in achieving the ideal cup.

In this comprehensive guide, I’ll take you on an intricate journey through time-honored techniques, exploring the world of tea and discussing key factors such as steep time and the choice between loose leaf and tea bags.

Join me as we delve into the science and art of brewing the perfect cup of tea.

  • Steeping time and water temperature are crucial factors in brewing the perfect cup of tea.
  • Choosing between loose leaf and tea bags can significantly impact the flavor profile and quality of tea.
  • The French press method offers a bold and robust cup of tea, while cold brew creates a refreshing and smooth taste.
  • Understanding the chemical reactions and flavor profile of tea can enhance the overall tea experience.

The Importance of Steep Time: Unlocking the Flavors and Aromas of Tea

Steeping my tea for the recommended time, I’m able to unlock the rich flavors and enticing aromas that make each cup a delightful experience. The art of steeping tea is a meticulous process that requires careful attention to detail.

It’s through this technique that the true essence of tea is released, allowing its flavors to blossom and captivate the senses. The key to unlocking these flavors lies in understanding the optimal steeping time for each type of tea. Whether it be a delicate green tea or a robust black tea, knowing the precise time to steep ensures that the flavors are extracted to perfection.

This knowledge allows me to serve others with confidence, knowing that I’ve crafted a cup of tea that’s both flavorful and satisfying.

Finding the Perfect Water Temperature: A Crucial Element in Tea Brewing

Finding the perfect water temperature is a crucial element in tea brewing. The optimal temperature for steeping can vary depending on the type of tea, with delicate white and green teas requiring lower temperatures and robust black teas needing higher temperatures.

The impact of water temperature on the flavors and aromas of tea is significant, as it can affect the extraction of compounds and the overall taste profile. Adjusting the temperature with precision allows for a harmonious balance of flavors, resulting in a truly satisfying cup of tea.

Optimal Temperature for Steeping

I always aim for a water temperature of 175°F when brewing tea to achieve the optimal flavor and balance. Temperature control is a crucial factor in the art of tea brewing, as it directly affects the extraction of flavors from the tea leaves. Steeping tea at the right temperature ensures that the delicate compounds in the leaves are released in the most harmonious way, resulting in a perfectly balanced cup of tea.

When it comes to achieving the optimal temperature for steeping, precision is key. Too high of a temperature can lead to a bitter and astringent brew, while too low of a temperature may result in a weak and flavorless cup. By maintaining a water temperature of 175°F, I’m able to coax out the full range of flavors and aromas from the tea leaves, without compromising their delicate nature.

In addition to temperature, optimal steeping time is also important to consider. Different teas require different steeping times to bring out their best qualities. For example, delicate green teas may only need a short steeping time of 1-2 minutes, while robust black teas may benefit from a longer steep of 3-5 minutes. By carefully timing the steeping process, I can ensure that the flavors are extracted to their fullest potential, resulting in a well-balanced and satisfying cup of tea.

Impact of Water Temperature

During the brewing process, I ensure that I maintain the water temperature at 175°F, as it plays a significant role in extracting the flavors and aromas from the tea leaves. The impact of water temperature on the final cup of tea can’t be overstated.

When the water is too hot, it can result in a bitter and astringent brew, overpowering the delicate nuances of the tea. On the other hand, if the water is too cold, the flavors and aromas may not fully develop, leaving the tea tasting weak and lacking depth. It’s essential to find the perfect balance, and I’ve found that 175°F allows for a harmonious infusion, bringing out the tea’s true essence.

Moreover, there’s a correlation between water temperature and steeping time. Adjusting the temperature can affect how quickly the tea leaves release their flavors, ultimately influencing the recommended steeping time for optimal results. By meticulously controlling the water temperature, I ensure that every cup of tea I serve is a masterpiece of flavors and aromas, satisfying the palates of tea enthusiasts.

Adjusting Temperature for Flavors

To enhance the flavors of tea, adjusting the water temperature is crucial, as it allows for a delicate balance of taste and aroma. When it comes to brewing the perfect cup of tea, here are some key factors to consider:

Start with the right temperature: Different teas require different water temperatures for optimal flavor extraction. Green and white teas are best steeped at lower temperatures, around 160-180°F , while black and herbal teas benefit from hotter water, around 200-212°F.

Experiment with steeping time: The duration of steeping also plays a significant role in the taste of your tea. For a milder flavor, you may want to steep for a shorter time, while a longer steeping time can result in a stronger, more robust brew.

Find your personal preference: Ultimately, the perfect cup of tea is a matter of personal taste. Don’t be afraid to experiment and adjust the water temperature and steeping time until you find the balance that suits you best.

By understanding and adjusting the water temperature, you can unlock the true potential of your tea leaves.

Now, let’s delve into the next topic: loose leaf vs. tea bags, making the right choice for your tea experience.

Loose Leaf Vs. Tea Bags: Making the Right Choice for Your Tea Experience

When it comes to the art of brewing tea, one must carefully consider the choice between loose leaf and tea bags. Each option has its own merits and drawbacks, and it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Loose leaf tea offers a more intricate and nuanced flavor profile, while tea bags provide convenience and ease of use.

Additionally, the environmental impact of both choices shouldn’t be overlooked, as loose leaf tea tends to be more sustainable.

Flavor Difference: Loose Vs. Bags

I always prefer loose leaf tea over tea bags because I can taste the distinct flavors more intensely. When it comes to flavor, loose leaf tea offers a more robust and complex taste profile compared to tea bags. Here are a few reasons why:

Quality: Loose leaf tea is made from whole tea leaves which retain more essential oils and natural flavors. Tea bags, on the other hand, contain broken tea leaves and dust, resulting in a less flavorful brew.

Variety: Loose leaf tea comes in a wide range of flavors and types, allowing for a more personalized tea experience. Tea bags often offer limited options and may not cater to individual preferences.

Brewing control: Loose leaf tea allows for greater control over steeping time and water temperature, ensuring optimal extraction of flavors. Tea bags often have predetermined steeping times, which may not be suitable for all tea varieties.

Convenience Vs. Quality

For me, the choice between convenience and quality is a constant dilemma when it comes to deciding between loose leaf tea and tea bags.

As someone who values the health benefits of tea, I understand the importance of using high-quality ingredients. Loose leaf tea offers a superior taste and aroma compared to tea bags, as the leaves are larger and less processed. This results in a richer and more nuanced flavor profile.

However, when it comes to convenience, tea bags are hard to beat. They’re pre-portioned and require less preparation time. Despite this, I find myself gravitating towards loose leaf tea more often, as I believe that the superior quality and taste outweigh the slight inconvenience of brewing it.

Now, let’s delve into the environmental impact of these two options and determine which is better.

Environmental Impact: Which Is Better?

Tea bags may offer convenience, but when it comes to the environmental impact, loose leaf tea is the better choice. Sustainability practices and ethical sourcing are key factors to consider when it comes to the tea industry.

Here are three reasons why loose leaf tea is a more sustainable option:

Reduced packaging waste: Loose leaf tea is typically sold in biodegradable or compostable packaging, minimizing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. In contrast, tea bags often come individually wrapped in plastic or foil, contributing to environmental pollution.

Less energy consumption: Loose leaf tea requires less energy to produce compared to tea bags. The manufacturing process of tea bags involves additional steps, such as sealing and packaging, which consume more energy and resources.

Better quality and flavor: Loose leaf tea is often sourced from ethical and sustainable tea gardens. By choosing loose leaf tea, you support farmers who implement sustainable practices, ensuring the protection of biodiversity and the well-being of workers.

Consider making the switch to loose leaf tea for a more environmentally friendly and socially responsible tea-drinking experience.

French Press Method: Traditional Brewing Technique for a Bold and Robust Cup of Tea

Using the French press method, I am able to brew a bold and robust cup of tea that is full of flavor. This traditional brewing technique has been honed over time to enhance the tea drinking experience. The French press allows for a more immersive and hands-on approach to brewing, resulting in a rich and satisfying tea experience.

In order to fully understand the benefits of the French press method, let’s compare it to a more modern brewing technique, such as cold brew. Below is a table that highlights the key differences between the two methods:

While both methods have their merits, the French press method offers a more traditional and immersive experience that is perfect for those who appreciate a strong and flavorful cup of tea. So, why not give it a try and elevate your tea drinking experience to new heights?

Cold Brew Technique: Exploring the Contemporary Method for a Refreshing and Smooth Tea

I love how the cold brew technique creates a refreshing and smooth cup of tea, and it’s fascinating to explore the contemporary method behind it. Cold brewing is a unique approach that involves steeping tea leaves in cold or room temperature water for an extended period of time. This slow infusion process allows for a gradual extraction of flavors, resulting in a milder and less bitter taste compared to traditional hot brewing methods.

When exploring infusion times with cold brew, it’s important to note that longer steeping durations, typically ranging from 8 to 12 hours, yield a stronger and more pronounced flavor profile. However, shorter infusion times of 4 to 6 hours can still produce a delightful cup with subtle nuances.

Enhancing flavors with cold brew can be achieved by experimenting with different tea varieties and blends. Delicate and floral teas, such as green tea or white tea, can develop a smoother and sweeter taste when cold brewed. On the other hand, robust black teas or herbal infusions can offer a bolder and more robust flavor profile.

The Science Behind Brewing: Understanding the Chemical Reactions That Occur

It’s truly fascinating to understand the chemical reactions that occur during the brewing process, shedding light on the science behind this intricate art form.

When it comes to tea, there’s a delicate dance between the leaves and the water, with each step contributing to the final flavor profile.

One of the key factors in this process is tea oxidation, which involves the enzymatic reaction that occurs when the leaves come into contact with oxygen. This reaction not only affects the color of the tea, but also its flavor and aroma.

By understanding the chemical reactions in tea, we can better appreciate the nuances of different tea varieties and make informed choices when brewing.

Now, let’s dive into some tips and secrets for brewing the perfect cup, elevating your tea drinking experience to new heights.

Nt and energizing image showcasing a steaming cup of black tea infused with fresh ginger, with swirls of golden turmeric, a hint of fiery cayenne pepper, a splash of tangy vinegar, and a drizzle of golden honey

As someone who is passionate about health, I have found a potent blend to help with erectile dysfunction – a mixture of fresh ginger, black tea, cayenne pepper, vinegar, turmeric, and honey.

These ingredients, when combined, offer a multitude of health benefits, from improving blood circulation to reducing inflammation.

In this article, we’ll explore the science behind each component and how they work together to support male sexual health.

So, grab a cup of this potent blend and let’s dive into the world of natural remedies for ED.

  • Fresh ginger, black tea, cayenne pepper, vinegar, turmeric, and honey all have potential health benefits for erectile dysfunction (ED).
  • These natural remedies can improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, and enhance overall sexual function.
  • While they may be beneficial for ED, they may not be sufficient as standalone treatments and should be used in conjunction with other strategies.
  • Incorporating fresh ginger, black tea, cayenne pepper, vinegar, turmeric, and honey into a balanced diet can provide a safer and more cost-effective alternative to prescription medications for ED.

Health Benefits of Fresh Ginger

I love how fresh ginger boosts my immune system and helps with digestion.

Ginger tea recipes for boosting immune health are a great way to incorporate this powerful spice into your daily routine.

Ginger contains gingerol, a compound that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. This makes it particularly beneficial for reducing inflammation and providing pain relief.

Studies have also suggested that ginger may help with nausea and vomiting, making it a popular remedy for morning sickness and motion sickness.

Additionally, ginger has been found to aid in digestion by promoting the production of digestive enzymes and reducing bloating and indigestion.

With all of these health benefits, it’s no wonder that ginger is a staple in many cuisines and natural remedies.

The Power of Black Tea for Ed

Drinking black tea has been shown to have powerful effects on erectile dysfunction. Studies have found that the antioxidants and phytochemicals present in black tea can improve blood flow, which is crucial for erectile function. Additionally, black tea contains compounds that can enhance nitric oxide production, a key player in achieving and maintaining an erection. However, it’s important to note that black tea alone may not be sufficient to treat erectile dysfunction.

The role of exercise in treating erectile dysfunction can’t be overlooked. Regular physical activity has been proven to improve blood circulation, reduce stress, and enhance overall sexual function. Stress, in particular, can have a detrimental impact on erectile function. High levels of stress can lead to increased cortisol levels, which can interfere with the body’s ability to achieve and sustain an erection. Therefore, managing stress through various techniques such as exercise, meditation, or therapy can significantly improve erectile function.

Now, let’s explore how cayenne pepper can further enhance erectile function.

How Cayenne Pepper Can Improve Erectile Function

Including cayenne pepper in my diet has been shown to be beneficial for improving erectile function. Cayenne pepper plays a significant role in male sexual health as an alternative treatment for erectile dysfunction. It contains a compound called capsaicin, which has been found to increase blood flow and improve circulation, crucial for achieving and maintaining an erection.

Additionally, capsaicin stimulates the release of endorphins, enhancing sexual pleasure and satisfaction. Studies have shown that cayenne pepper may also help reduce inflammation and improve cardiovascular health, important factors in erectile function.

By incorporating cayenne pepper into my daily meals, I can naturally support my sexual health.

Now, let’s explore another natural remedy for ED: vinegar.

Vinegar: A Natural Remedy for Ed

To naturally address erectile dysfunction, one can incorporate vinegar into their daily routine as a potential remedy. Vinegar has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for various health issues, including erectile dysfunction. Here are three reasons why vinegar may be effective in improving erectile function:

Improved blood circulation: Vinegar contains acetic acid, which has been shown to help improve blood circulation throughout the body. This increased blood flow can contribute to better erectile function.

Hormonal balance: Vinegar has been found to help regulate hormone levels in the body. Imbalances in hormones, such as testosterone, can contribute to erectile dysfunction. By promoting hormonal balance, vinegar may help improve erectile function.

Antioxidant properties: Vinegar is rich in antioxidants, which help combat oxidative stress and inflammation in the body. Erectile dysfunction can be caused by oxidative stress and inflammation, so consuming vinegar may help reduce these factors and improve erectile function.

Incorporating vinegar into your daily routine may be a simple and natural way to address erectile dysfunction. However, it’s important to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and treatment options.

Turmeric and Honey: A Potent Combination for Erectile Dysfunction

I’ve discovered that combining turmeric and honey has shown promising results in addressing erectile dysfunction.

Turmeric is a spice commonly used in cooking and has been used for centuries in traditional medicine. It contains a compound called curcumin, which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. These properties can help improve blood flow, which is essential for achieving and maintaining an erection.

Honey, on the other hand, is a natural sweetener that also has medicinal properties. It’s rich in antioxidants and contains enzymes that can enhance blood flow to the penis.

When turmeric and honey are combined, they create a powerful remedy for erectile dysfunction. This natural approach can be a safer and more cost-effective alternative to prescription medications.

How Much Fresh Ginger Should I Consume Daily to See Benefits for Erectile Dysfunction?

I can’t provide a 35-word answer without the context of Fresh Ginger Black Tea Cayenne Pepper Vinegar Turmeric and Honey for Ed. Please provide the necessary context for me to answer your question.

Drinking black tea alone may not significantly improve erectile function. However, combining it with other ingredients, such as fresh ginger, cayenne pepper, vinegar, turmeric, and honey, could potentially have a more positive impact.

Are There Any Potential Side Effects or Risks Associated With Using Cayenne Pepper for Treating Erectile Dysfunction?

Using cayenne pepper for treating erectile dysfunction may have potential risks. It’s important to consult a healthcare professional before trying it. The effectiveness of cayenne pepper in treating ED is still being studied.

Can Vinegar Be Used as a Standalone Remedy for Erectile Dysfunction, or Does It Need to Be Combined With Other Ingredients?

Yes, vinegar can be used as a standalone remedy for erectile dysfunction. It has been shown to improve blood flow and overall cardiovascular health, which can help with ED. However, combining it with other ingredients may enhance its effectiveness.

Is There a Recommended Dosage of Turmeric and Honey That Should Be Consumed for Treating Erectile Dysfunction?

For treating erectile dysfunction, it is important to consider the recommended dosage of turmeric and honey. Additionally, the effectiveness of fresh ginger in helping with ED should also be taken into account.

Incorporating fresh ginger, black tea, cayenne pepper, vinegar, turmeric, and honey into your diet can be a powerful and natural way to address erectile dysfunction. These ingredients offer numerous health benefits and have been shown to improve erectile function.

By harnessing their potential, you can enhance your sexual health and overall well-being. So why not give these remedies a try and unlock the key to a satisfying and fulfilling love life?

Finally, let’s tackle some Frequently Asked Questions .

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Which materials are preferable for a durable travel tea set?

For durability in travel tea sets, the most suitable materials include stainless steel, reinforced ceramics, and tempered glass. Stainless steel stands out for its robustness, rust, and corrosion resistance. Reinforced ceramics, though more delicate than metal, provide enhanced strength and chip resistance. Tempered glass, less breakable than regular glass, withstands temperature variations effectively. Each material offers unique benefits, from heat retention and visual appeal to maintaining the taste quality of the tea.

What features distinguish a high-quality travel tea set for picnics?

A high-quality travel tea set for picnics is distinguished by several key features. It should be portable, featuring a compact and lightweight design for easy transport. Durability is crucial, so it’s made from sturdy materials that can endure the rigors of travel. Good heat retention is important to keep the tea warm, alongside ease of cleaning, with dishwasher-safe components being a plus. A complete set including cups, a teapot, and a storage case is ideal, and aesthetic appeal enhances the overall picnic experience.

How does one efficiently utilize a Gongfu tea set while traveling?

To efficiently use a Gongfu tea set while traveling, one should opt for a smaller, travel-designed set. Pre-measuring and packing the tea leaves helps in preparation. Using a thermometer or an electric kettle with temperature control can ensure the water is at the right temperature. Simplifying the Gongfu brewing steps without compromising the ritual’s essence is key, and having a secure, protective case for the set ensures safe transportation.

Can you recommend tea set brands known for their travel-friendly designs?

Brands that are known for producing travel-friendly tea sets include Teavivre, known for its portable sets, Kamjove, which offers modern travel Gongfu tea sets, and Samadoyo, specializing in functional yet elegant tea sets suitable for travel purposes.

What are the key components to look for in a travel tea set with an infuser?

In a travel tea set with an infuser, it’s important to have a high-quality infuser, preferably made of stainless steel or BPA-free plastic. The infuser should be a fine mesh to prevent leaves from escaping and sized appropriately to fit well in the teapot or cup. Additionally, it should be easy to clean, ideally able to be dismantled for thorough cleaning.

What should be considered when choosing a travel tea set with a kettle?

When selecting a travel tea set with a kettle, one should consider the size and weight of the kettle, ensuring it’s lightweight and compact for ease of travel. It’s also important to check if the kettle is compatible with various heat sources, like electric stoves or campfires. Materials like stainless steel or aluminum are preferable for durability and efficient heat conduction. Lastly, safety features such as a secure lid and heat-resistant handles are essential for safe and convenient use.

When hunting for the ideal travel tea set, several key factors come into play. First, consider material durability. You want a set that can handle the journey, be it ceramic, glass, or stainless steel. Size and weight are crucial too.

Your set should be compact enough for easy packing, yet spacious enough for a satisfying brew. Also, think about ease of cleaning. You need a set that’s as easy to maintain as it is to use.

Don’t forget the aesthetic appeal. Your tea set should not only function well but also please the eye. And then there’s the cultural significance. Different styles reflect different tea traditions. From Chinese Gongfu to Japanese ceremonies, each set has its story.

Also make sure to get other travel essentials to accompany your tea sets.

Features To Consider

Tea sets for one or multiple cups.

Depending on the way you travel, you may or may not be considering options that can serve more than one person at the same time. For personal consumption, it’s not hard to find a great tea infuser travel mug that can offer both a bottle to steep tea and a single cup, which will become a must-pack item in your travel bag. However, if you are looking for an option to serve a small group or share tea with your travel partner, convenient travel tea sets include small tea cups to enjoy tea as a group while traveling.

Integrated Tea Bottle Infusers

The most common option amongst the best travel tea sets and best tea infuser mugs, the integrated tea bottle infusers come in different styles and designs but ultimately offer a similar tea experience. These bottles include a bottle and internal tea strainer with small holes that provide a great way to steep your favorite loose leaf tea inside an insulated water-bottle-sized infuser.

To choose the best travel tea infuser or best travel tea set for yourself, you should first consider what materials work best for you. Unfortunately, there is no consensus best material, as different options have different benefits. One of the most popular options is borosilicate glass, a lightweight glass often used in double-wall designs, which is a relatively less-fragile glass built for long usable life and easy cleaning.

Those looking for lightweight and less-fragile options can opt for a stainless steel tumbler, which can last a long time and is less likely to break than glass, though it can be hot to touch and is not transparent, not allowing you to see inside as your steep tea. Other lightweight options include plastic, though the different materials are your best bet if you are looking for the best travel tea infuser. If you prefer a plastic alternative, make sure it is made of BPA Free plastic.

Beyond the glass, stainless steel or plastic, ceramic, and bamboo-lined stainless steel options are also included. While a ceramic portable tea set will typically offer the most beautiful design, it will undoubtedly come with additional weight compared to the other options. However, if you are willing to set aside some dedicated bag weight for a beautiful ceramic tea set, you will be sipping your cups of tea in style.

The bamboo-lined stainless steel offers a nice natural look and insulation from the heat for your hand, though it serves more of a decorative purpose overall.

When considering the best tea strainer or tea steepers, the best options are to find a tea set with a stainless steel strainer or at least stainless steel infuser baskets. These are by far the best options as they will be resistant to rust, allowing you to enjoy loose-leaf tea for years to come.

There are many thoughtful designs available depending on your tea drinking preferences. For example, some offer the ability to steep loose tea leaves inside a tea infuser bottle, with a separate small cup that can be screwed off to be used to drink out of. In comparison, others are effectively water-bottle-style tea mugs with internal tea steepers, where you can sip out of the bottle directly.

Some bottles and cups offer a double wall design, which is advantageous when traveling. It can provide a layer of insulation to keep your tea hot and allow you to handle the cup or bottle comfortably.

The tea sets usually include a small ceramic or clear glass teapot to steep loose leaves of tea in and strain into two to four small cups. These can then be packed away into compact protective cases for easy traveling.

Size and Packing Space

A key consideration for those looking for the best travel tea set or right tea infuser is the size and packing space that it will take up. If you are looking for the best way to drink tea while traveling but are unwilling to sacrifice space, a tea infuser bottle will be your best option, with different sizes available depending on how much tea you want to carry.

Conversely, if you are looking for a tea set for more than one or the perfect gift for a couple, the different tea sets with small cups are still relatively compact and won’t take up much room across bags for two travelers.

Carrying Case or Protector

Importantly, if you opt for more breakable materials like glass or ceramic options, many of the options on this list come with a carrying case or soft sleeve to protect the infuser bottle or tea set. This consideration is essential for a long life with the bottle and those who prefer the beautiful design choices.

Bottom Line

There is no perfect tea infuser bottle or tea set for everyone. Each design and material option has its own pros and cons, though, among the above list of best travel tea sets on the market, you can find the best choice for yourself or the perfect give for a tea lover.

Tips for traveling with tea.

As much as we appreciate brewing tea in our own home, with our setup curated perfectly, sometimes life takes us out into the world, and we wouldn't want to go without our tea!

Traveling with loose leaf tea can seem slightly daunting, with more to pack and consider, but the extra effort has truly great payouts.

We have brought our tea and Gong Fu teaware on camping trips; to foreign countries; and have been lucky to share our favorite tea with those we love along the way.

If you plan to take your tea traveling with you, here are some of our tips:

Bring Pre-Weighed Packets: Tea Drunk packages our teas in sample sizes that are the perfect amount for one session. We recommend bringing these samples, so you don't need to concern yourself with a scale or measuring utensil. Individual packets also lower the risk of oxidation and moisture damage to the tea by keeping them sealed tightly until use.

Avoid Temperature Changes: Tea does not like extreme environmental changes, so it is critical to be cautious when traveling. We recommend avoiding storing your tea in the fridge if you plan to travel with it. Condensation from taking tea in and out of a refrigerator can ruin the tea quickly.

Keep It In Your Carry-On: Keeping your tea in your carry-on or a safe place in the front seat on a road trip can lessen the changes the tea leaves get crushed in transit. You'll also avoid the temperature and pressure changes that are high risk in the compartment below a plane. Keeping your tea and tea supplies in a rigid box is best to avoid any crushing or damage.

Wrap Your Teaware Tight: We recommend wrapping each piece individually and as tightly as possible when traveling with delicate teaware. This method is the safest way to transport. We wrap it this way so that the parts don’t rattle against each other, which is While it is nice to have our special wares with us wherever we go, it is essential to remember that things can happen while traveling and that cracks or breakage of teaware are not impossible. Typically, we leave our most valuable (sentimental or otherwise) pieces at home and bring teaware we're a little less precious about.

Be Ready To Share!: Part of the joy of making tea is the ability to share it with those around you. It is a great way to foster deeper connections amongst friends new and old. We strongly suggest you pull out your favorite tea to share when you're traveling and enjoy the relationships and time spent together!

Camping & Adventure Travel with Tea

travel tea brewing

I have always loved the outdoors. My childhood summers were spent in Northern Ontario canoeing through Algonquin Provincial Park. On those trips, my parents helped instill in me a great appreciation for nature and life on the water. Since then, I have been fortunate to have traveled the world and have experienced some of the most beautiful natural places on earth.

Recently, I did a 5-day rafting trip down the Lower Salmon River in Idaho, also known as the “River of No Return,” with one of my two daughters. The trip was put on by Oars , a company which has a long tradition of nature conservation. The Salmon River is one of the longest naturally flowing rivers in the United States without a dam on its mainstem. As such, the true natural beauty and dynamics of the river remain intact. The water is crystal clear, the campsites are pristine, and the scenery is breathtaking.  All rafters adhere to the strict code of no trace camping, meaning you carry out ALL your waste.

Mosi Travel Tea Tumbler

I love to drink tea over the course of the entire day. I enjoy at least two cups in the morning, three during the afternoon and an herbal tea at night (sometimes spiked depending on the type of day). For this trip, I brought two infusers , a tin of Morning Black and a tin of Rooibos Lavender . Enjoying my morning tea while fly fishing as the Sun began to peak over the mountains was an incredible experience.

Fly Fishing with Tea

Here are some reasons why I think that our All-in-One tea tumbler is the ultimate brewing device for adventure travel on the water. First, it floats. It has a latch that you can connect a carabiner to and fasten it to your life vest. If you happen to drop it, however, it will never sink. Our leak proof lid means that water cannot get in or out. That means that you can toss it into a dry bag with confidence that it will not leak. The travel tea tumbler is shatter resistant. You can drop it on rocks, and it will be fine. It is built strong. With the different attachments, it is still very compact, meaning it is like packing a coffee brewer, matcha bowl, and tea set all in. Finally, its easy to fill on the go, just pour water through the spout, flip it upside down and turn over once it finishes brewing. This allows you to save time and mess trying to brew quickly on the go.

Mosi on the River

I highly recommend camping with a personal Jetboil . This will allow you to boil water very quickly to pour into your Mosi All-in-One infuser . For this trip, I enjoyed drinking Morning Black tea in the morning and at lunch. I would then put some Vodka in the bottom of the infuser with honey and brew a refreshing Rooibos Lavender cocktail to end a long day on the river before falling asleep under the stars.

At Mosi, we spent years developing a product that allows people to brew anything anywhere. It is always rewarding when you can take a product on a wilderness adventure, and it performs as intended. You can check out a video from this amazing trip on the Mosi YouTube channel .

Tea For Traveling

August 3, 2021

You are sitting in your seat watching the traffic light turn from amber to red, but that is fine because you have a travel tumbler filled with tea in your cup holder waiting to be enjoyed until… you realised your tea has been over steeped and has turned slightly bitter.

Every tea lover knows how difficult it is to find a travel tumbler that allows you to brew tea, and let’s be honest, it is an absolute disappointment when the travel tumbler you’ve finally hunted down brews you a dissatisfying, bitter, over-brewed cup of tea. If you’re going to get an average brew, you could have just gone to a local kopitiam (aka local coffee shop) to get your tea fix, right? Then why go through all the trouble of getting a travel tumbler, brew your favourite tea and settle for a mediocre brew?

Sounds like it’s time to upgrade your travel mug and stop settling for second best.

But it’s just a mug. What’s the big deal about it?

When it comes to carrying the perfect tea companion, it’s more than just design, brand and whether it has a handle to cradle. The primary purpose of carrying your tea in a specially designed tumbler is so that you can finish it before it turns cold without the need to guzzle it.

You also don’t want to waste your perfectly brewed tea, don’t you? Some teas may be expensive, and with a proper brewing technique, you’d be able to brew more cups of tea with the same amount of tea leaves used. Not to mention, the longer it stays hot, the more likely you’ll be able to savour it instead of emptying it down the sink when you arrive at work.

The Best Travel Tumblers

We’ve come to an agreement that regardless of brand, colour, shape or style, if your travel tumbler isn’t brewing your tea properly, or keeping it hot enough until you’ve arrived at your destination, it is time to toss and get one that actually fits the bill.

TEASPEC Lazy Go Travel Tumbler

The TEASPEC Lazy Go Travel Tumbler is by far, the best portable travel tumbler available in the market. It boasts of a double-layered glass wall—not plastic—and a special built in strainer to separate tea leaves from tea without over steeping. The Lazy Go Travel Tumbler also comes with a sleeve and quilted carrier lined with a silver foil to keep it warm up to 3 hours.

Do not over steep your tea

Always remember: The key to a perfect cup of tea is not to over steep it. Invest in a good quality travel tumbler that separates the tea from tea leaves after it finishes brewing, and keep the lid shut when you are not drinking.

Tips for Traveling with Tea

  • The Chief Leaf

If you are planning to fit in one last summer vacation over Labor Day weekend like many other Americans,  then listen up. You don’t have to settle for hotel room varieties of tea bags or powdered iced-tea mixes from a drive-thru, for example. Take along the teas you love and brew them on the go. It requires a little extra space in your luggage and a little extra time, but it is well worth it when you want to enjoy vacation time down to the details. This means starting out the day with a good cup of tea. Whether you are planning the road trip of the decade or boarding a plane to get to your destination, here are a few tips that might come in handy.

Give up a little space in your carry-on bag for a single brew-in cup . For short trips, tea can be packed right inside the infuser to save even more space. A Travel Press is another handy choice for traveling with tea.

If you are staying in a hotel, many hotels have hot water available to their guests in the lobby area. If that is not the case, then run hot water through your in-room coffee pot to rinse out coffee smells first. Then run water through a second time to get hot water to pour over your tea leaves.

travel tea brewing

Instead, bring along teas that travel well and can take the heat (most gas station hot water is extremely hot). Black teas are the best choice such as Irish Breakfast , Earl Grey , Traditional Masala Chai or Blacksmith Blend . But if you love a good cup of green tea, Pinhead Gunpowder can probably take more heat than most other greens and still taste good.

Of course, these are all good tips for enjoying your tea hot. Iced tea is another story and a little trickier one at that, but well worth it. Have you traveled with tea? What worked best for you?

Tea on the Move: 4 Tips for Traveling with Tea

Having your favorite tea(s) on hand allows you to indulge in the enjoyment and relaxation that tea can bring, even amidst your adventures. We'll show you some of the best ways to travel with tea by taking your teaware and tea on the move with you.

When it comes to traveling or even just going out to accomplish your daily tasks, it can be tiring and stressful at times. Having your favorite tea(s) on hand allows you to indulge in the enjoyment and relaxation that tea can bring, even amidst your adventures. With the proper tools, from on-the-go tumblers to single-serving paper tea bags , you can enjoy your daily tea ritual wherever your day takes you.

We offer a full range of travel mugs and tumblers so you can bring your favorite tea with you. Enjoy a refreshing iced tea after your workout or skip the coffee line at the office and bring in your favorite hot brew. We'll show you some of the best ways to travel with tea by taking your teaware and tea on the move with you.

Table of Contents

On the move teaware.

Have you ever noticed that a lot of motels/hotels don't carry tea? And many of the ones that do only offer bagged tea with limited flavor choices. Beyond that - many of the tools needed to make a cuppa aren't available to you. To brew a cup of tea , you'll need the following:

  • A way to heat up your water

Sure, you can use whatever tea is available to you (if any), a coffee filter, a coffee maker and the cups provided to you (again, if any), but there's no for sure way to know what options will be available to you wherever you end up. It's a great idea to make yourself a tea travel kit with some of the essentials you might need. Putting together a tea travel kit is super easy and customizable to your own self, ensuring you'll have a comfortable easy-going experience no matter where you are. Consider the following options when putting together your travel kit:

Tea Tumblers

Tea tumblers are a great way to prepare a hot or iced cup of tea that will stay at your preferred temperature for multiple hours. Tumblers that have an included tea infuser such as our 25oz Tea Flask and our 16oz Glass Tea Tumblers with included travel sleeve make it especially easy for you to add your loose-leaf tea into the infuser, pour in your hot water, close the lid and go!

Loose Leaf Paper Tea Bags

Sometimes it's best to keep it simple with a classic: paper tea bags . If you have a good airtight container to store them, it can be especially convenient to prefill a few tea bags and have them ready to simply add to your cup with your hot water. There's a bunch of great ways to reuse your tea bags after steeping your tea, such as using it to start a fire, deep cleaning your hands, or even easing bug bites or blisters!

Travel Mugs

When you're on the move, a travel mug will become your best friend. Find a trusted travel cup , preferably one with a silicone or rubber lid, to keep your tea warm and safe. If you're lucky, some travel mugs such as our 12oz Porcelain Travel Cup will come with an included stainless-steel infuser.

Electric Kettle

Many motels/hotels only offer one way to heat up water: with a coffee maker. Sure, you can heat water in the coffee maker.. but then that results in tea that tastes like coffee. Plus, teas like green and white teas have specific temperature requirements in order to enjoy a smooth cuppa without any bitterness. Electric Kettles can be great for people who travel a lot for work, students going away for college, or even to bring to the office or keep by your desk. Just be sure to get a good, padded travel case, and keep it on your carry on if you're flying to keep it safe!

Can you travel with tea?

Traveling with loose leaf tea is easy - but some ways are better than others to ensure a smooth experience.

Tips for traveling with tea

1. pack easy-to-steep teas.

Unless you plan on bringing an Electric Kettle with temperature control or thermometer with you on your adventures, we'd recommend staying away from teas that require specific temperatures (such as green and white teas). Keep it simple with forgiving teas that can take boiling water like black , pu-erh , oolong , rooibos , or herbal teas so you don't have to worry about bitterness.

2. Use a travel tumbler

A good quality travel tea infuser tumbler is a must when you're taking tea on the move. Many are well-insulated , so you can steep your tea before you head out for the day and enjoy yourself knowing your tea will stay hot or cold for hours. Tea tumblers are great because they can eliminate all of the tools needed to make tea besides the water, making for easy brewing and storage. For example, you can store tea inside the tumbler when it's not being used by pre-scooping your tea into the attachable infuser basket. Then, when you're ready to make your tea, all you need to find is a source of hot water. Whether you're planning a camping trip or heading to the office for the day, the preparation can save you a lot of time and space.

3. Pre-fill your own tea bags/infuser

Pre-filling your tea bags or infuser before you head out for the day can save you time and equipment while you're out and about. This is a great option when you'll be out for a few hours and want to pack light for your adventures for the day. It makes it so you can omit a tea scoop , not carry excess tea, and avoid extra baggage. Lots of coffee shops like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts will happily give you free hot water if you ask (though some may charge for the cup) - so you can steep your tea when you're ready for a much more affordable price. Of course, it's always a great idea to support your local tea/coffee shop if you can afford it!

4. Brew it "grandpa style"

Pure, whole leaf teas such as Jasmine Pearls , Ancient Forest Yunnan , and Darjeeling Oolong can be added to your cup or tumbler without an infuser or tea bag. This method of brewing is used by many, even at home for everyday use. Our glass tea tumblers are great for this method because they come with a dual style filter - allowing you to choose if you want to use the basket as an infuser and discard the leaves OR keep the leaves in the main chamber and use the screen only to filter the leaves as you drink. To enjoy this method, add fewer tea leaves than normal (about half a tsp per 8oz). As long as you're using high quality, pure tea leaves, then you should still have a great tasting cuppa without having to worry too much about bitterness - plus it gives your tea leaves room to expand, which will give you the most flavor.

Can I bring loose leaf tea on a plane?

Yes, according to the TSA , tea (dry tea bags or loose tea leaves) can be carried on your carryon bag or checked bag. As long as they are in sealed packaging, you shouldn't have any problems with dried food products such as tea.

Whether you want to bring your favorite teas with you or you find a tea you need to bring home with you while you're on your adventures, there's some important things to keep in mind.

How much tea can I travel with?

You can bring up to 12oz (340 grams) of tea (per person) when flying.

Do I have to declare tea at customs?

Yes, as with all agricultural products, you must declare the product at entry. According to the USDA , “Travelers are permitted to bring without restriction any quantity of products composed solely of tea leaves (Camellia sinensis: includes black tea, green tea, oolong, dark tea, white tea, yellow tea)”.

Herbal teas/herbal infusions should also be declared at entry, as they are typically permitted but are subject to inspection depending on the ingredients . For the best results, you should keep herbal teas commercially packaged if you plan on traveling internationally with them.

If you have plans to travel internationally, it's best to keep your tea choices simple to ensure there's no issues.

The Best Tea Infuser Travel Mug (And Why Real Tea Lovers Need One)

By Mindy Fox

Photo of tea being made in our pick for the best tea infuser travel mug.

All products are independently selected by our editors. If you buy something, we may earn an affiliate commission.

I can hear my better half, Steve, now: “Do you really need a dedicated travel tea mug? Can’t you brew a cup of tea and then use any ol’ travel mug to take it on the go?”

Yeah, babe, you could. (And he probably knows what’s coming next.) But I like to have the right tool for the job, and there is good reason to be particular when it comes to a travel tea mug.

Sure, I could place loose tea leaves in a single-use paper steeper or basket steeper and use my favorite travel coffee mug for the job , but travel tea mugs are made with built-in tea steepers (ones that allow you to tightly close the lid while your tea steeps), which means no waste and a hotter finished brew. Plus, coffee mugs tend to take on coffee flavor over time. A dedicated travel tea mug helps keeps a serious tea drinker’s tea tasting pure and clean.

In my quest for the best travel mug to take my cuppa on the road, I sought out a leak-proof model that ranked high in the heat retention department . I also wanted a mug that was easy to grip and to drink from. And because it’s nice to have stylish gear, one that looked good, too. Here are my winning picks and how I tested:

photo of water pouring through a tea steeper.

The Very Best Tea Infuser Travel Mug: The Tea Spot Everest Tea Tumbler

The Everest’s double-walled, vacuum-sealed stainless steel insulation kept 22 ounces of tea hot and fresh tasting, and its screw down BPA-free top was terrifically leak-proof. I fell hard for its rugged adventure-meets-urban-chic look, and had a hard time deciding which of its four stylish colors I liked best.

The Everest also won my vote for smart design and functionality with an innovative screw-top and sipping mechanism that stay connected to the mug while you drink (which means when you remove the part of the lid that allows you to drink your tea, it won’t go tumbling down a cliff, through a subway grate, or down between that impossibly narrow space between the seat of your car and your cup-holding console).

The stainless steel steeper basket on this model provided ample room for water and tea leaves to mingle as my tea steeped, and its small holes kept fine leaves from passing into my tea, making a clean and full-tasting brew. The easy to grip exterior is much like that of the popular Hydro Flask water bottle so, if you’re a Hydro Flask fan , you’ll likely love The Tea Spot Everest, too.

The Everest fit well in a tote bag and was also comfortable to carry on the outside of a backpack, using a carabiner clip . And, like all of the travel tea mugs I tested, it can be used for iced tea as well as plain or infused fruit (aka spa) water.

Everest Tea Tumbler

The Next Best (aka Runner Up) Travel Tea Infuser Mug: The Tea Spot Voyager Tea Tumbler

The Voyager, also by The Tea Spot, won my runner-up vote. At 16-ounces, it’s a smaller mug than the Everest but that’s where most of the differences end. This mug kept my tea hot and fresh for 6 hours, and is fitted with the same type of high quality stainless steel steeper basket as the Everest. Its smartly designed leak-proof lid has a comfortable, easy to drink from sip-cup style and doesn’t require removing to use—simply press down on a pop top to drink, then press it again to lock the top into spill-free mode. With its sleek metallic, glossy finish and no loop handle (for carabiner or finger hold), this model is stylistically more ‘urban’ than ‘adventure’, but also, according to highly-rated reviews for both products, a bit more vulnerable to scratches than the Everest. It’s easy to grip and carries well in a tote bag or pocket of a backpack or gym bag.

Other Brands I Tried:

Zojirushi travel mug with tea filter shocked me and my editor when this mug didn’t win over my other contenders. Though this darling brand of the product review world took the gold in our best travel coffee mug test and kept my tea even hotter than its competitors at 6 hours, it is designed with a problematic steeping mechanism. To use this mug, you place loose tea leaves inside and add hot water. A filter fitted at the top of the mug blocks the leaves from flowing out while you drink your tea, but, as any true tea drinker knows, for however long you travel with your tea, the tea continues steeping. So, whether we’re talking a few minutes post-ideal steep time or several hours, you’ll be drinking an over-steeped brew (not tasty!). (One reviewer on Amazon noted that tea leaves can be put into the strainer basket, steeped with the mug turned upside down, and then removed. But the basket is so small that, though this works with some tea leaf types, it allows neither ample space for leaves to mingle with water while steeping, nor enough room for large loose tea leaf varieties to steep.) The top, which is made up of multiple and functionally unclear parts (a pain to both wash and keep track of), must be entirely removed to drink the tea, which makes it awkward if not impossible to safely drink from on the go. Used as a canteen-style tea-steeping vessel (to pour tea from as soon as it’s steeped) or to keep tea that’s brewed in a bag or independently from and then transferred to the mug incredibly hot for over 6 hours, this is a great product, but as an on-the-go tea mug, it doesn’t cut the mustard.

The four remaining models I tested, the Uendure Glass Infuser Travel Mug , the Lotus Glass Tea Tumbler , the Pure Zen Tea Tumbler , and the Sacred Lotus Love Sacred Glass Tea Infuser Tumbler were constructed of glass and sell in the $25 to $28 range. None of them (even with easy-to-grip insulating neoprene sleeves complete with nifty loops for carrying) had heat retention capability that came anywhere close to that of my winning contenders, and, though they were sexy looking, they were too fragile for true on-the-go usage. (A note that came with one of the models warned that the glass “may break if you drop it, knock it, or bang it with a metal spoon”.) Their open top lids made for challenging drinking on the go. So, while these might be stylish for drinking at a desk (though you’ll have to watch your keyboard if the mug gets knocked over), they’re too fragile and not practical for real on the go use.

How I Tested

I brewed loose black tea in seven leading travel tea mugs. After brewing the tea, I removed the tea basket and took the temperature of each mug’s tea using a digital thermometer . I closed the lids tightly, then measured the temperature of each tea again after 1 hour, 4 hours, and 6 hours, recording the change in temperature at each interval.

In the breaks between temperature takes, I rolled my tightly closed filled travel tea mugs on the floor; turned them upside down, and gave them all a good shaking around to test for leaks. I took a look at how many parts came with each model and how easy they were to clean. I also considered sipping mechanism design, steeper basket quality (did the basket allow ample room for proper steeping), overall durability, and style.

The Takeaway:

The company Tea Spot makes the best tea infuser travel mugs—models that brew a great cup of tea and are easy to take on the go. Buy the Everest Tumbler for slightly larger capacity and a more rugged, outdoor-adventure-ready design. Buy the Voyager for a smaller travel tea mug that's perfect for urban commuters.

Some of Our Favorite Tea Gear, at a Glance

A little background on brewing tea, our favorite gear for brewing and drinking tea.

  • Why We’re the Experts

Brewing tea might seem simple: Just plop a tea bag into a mug, fill it with hot water, and ta-da—there’s a steaming cuppa. But if you’re really into tea (or—gasp—just bought a tin of looseleaf tea by accident and are panicking a little), investing in a few pieces of gear can elevate your tea game from good to great. Plus, a lot of tea gear can pinch-hit in the coffee arena, too (like our favorite leakproof thermos and milk frother). Double the brews, double the fun, right?

  • The Best Stovetop Kettle: Fellow Clyde Stovetop Tea Kettle
  • A Super Accurate Variable Temperature Electric Kettle: Fellow Corvo EKG Electric Kettle
  • A Reliable Non-Variable Temperature Electric Kettle: Breville Soft Top Pure Tea Kettle
  • An Excellent Ball-Style Tea Infuser: Norpro 2-Inch Mesh Tea Infuser Ball
  • The Best Basket-Style Tea Infuser: Fenshine Stainless Steel Tea Infuser
  • A Thermos That’ll Keep Tea Hot: Zojirushi Stainless Bottle SJ-JS10
  • A Fancy Frother for Tea Lattes: Instant MagicFroth Milk Frother
  • A Bamboo Whisk for Matcha: Matcha DNA Bamboo Whisk
  • A Porcelain Gaiwan Teapot: Liang baobao Traditional Gaiwan
  • A Cute, Classic Tea Cup and Saucer: Pillivuyt Coupe Porcelain Cups & Saucers

Precision tea preparation is about more than simply adding boiling water to a mug; depending on the type of tea and what kind of drink you're making, some teas require a stew in boiling water, while others need a mellow steep in slightly less hot temps. “Most teas can simply be prepared by steeping in hot water," says Michelle Cheng, owner of Ceremony , a cafe and tea house in Providence, RI. “But if you want the best tea experience, different roasts and categories of teas will require different brewing temperatures and different types of brewing vessels.” Steep time is another important factor, and most teas will include the information on the box or tin, but if not, here are some general guidelines:

The brewing process differs greatly when making matcha, which is sifted and whisked into hot water rather than steeped. “Using water that's too hot or not hot enough can ruin matcha upon contact,” Cheng says. It’s also important to whisk vigorously, so the powder integrates into the hot water; that said, Cheng warns against over-whisking, which can cause “giant bubbles instead of microfoam.”

The Best Stovetop Kettle

Fellow clyde stovetop tea kettle.

Crate & Barrel

This stovetop tea kettle from Fellow won our tests because of its comfortable, heat-proof handle (coated in sturdy silicone). Unlike some kettles, which feature spout covers you have to toggle to open, the Fellow's automatically opens when pouring, leading to a smooth, consistent stream of water (and no fussing). We also love the simple, attractive form and the harmonic whistle it makes when it hits the boiling point.

  • Materials: Stainless steel, silicone
  • Stated Capacity: 1.8 quarts
  • Max Capacity: 1.95 quarts to actual max fill line (58 ounces)
  • Weight (when empty): 1 pound, 13.4 ounces
  • Weight (when at capacity): 5 pounds, 12 ounces
  • Diameter of the kettle's opening: 4 3/8 inches
  • Dimensions: 10 x 7 x 8 inches
  • Compatible cooktops: Gas, electric

A Super Accurate Variable Temperature Electric Kettle

Fellow corvo ekg electric kettle.

Variable kettles allow the user to set a specific water temperature, so if you want a perfectly bloomed cup of oolong, this style can get your water to exactly 195°F. During testing, the Fellow Corvo quickly reached each assigned temperature, and it was super easy to use: just push the dial, then turn it to your desired temperature. We also like that this vessel can hold water at a temperature for up to an hour after heating (we even tested its accuracy in this realm, and found it was within a degree the whole time).

  • Materials : Stainless steel; plastic
  • Stated capacity: 0.9 liters
  • Good to know: Variable temperature range of 135°F-212°F

A Reliable Non-Variable Temperature Electric Kettle

Breville soft top pure tea kettle.

Non-variable kettles have a simple job: bring water to a boil. In our tests, we liked this option from Breville, which heated water quickly and was super easy to use: just toggle the switch and wait to hear the ding when the water is ready.

  • Materials: Glass; stainless steel; plastic
  • Stated capacity: 1.7 liters
  • Good to know: Has dual-sided “water windows” with measurement markings

An Excellent Ball-Style Tea Infuser

Norpro 2-inch mesh tea infuser ball.

If you're into looseleaf tea, a tea infuser is a handy little doodad to have in your drawer. There are two types of infusers: baskets and ball-style infusers. A ball-style infuser is separated into two halves that you fill with looseleaf tea and then lower into your cup or teapot. Our favorite ball tea infuser is from Norpro; it's easy to open, fill, close, and remove, thanks to its attached chain (and the cute mini ceramic teapot at the end).

  • Materials: Stainless steel
  • Weight: 0.8 ounces
  • Dimensions: 3 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches
  • Care instructions: Hand wash only

Serious Eats / Abigail Clarkin

The Best Basket-Style Tea Infuser

Fenshine stainless steel tea infuser.

A basket is another classic type of tea infuser that rests on the lip of a tea cup or pot. The Fenshine is our top pick since it's easy to fill and clean, and it did a fabulous job keeping even the tiniest specks of tea leaves contained. Plus, we like that it has two arms that extend over the lip of the mug so the infuser stays super steady.

  • Materials: Stainless steel and rubber
  • Includes: Infuser and lid
  • Care instructions: Dishwasher-safe

A Thermos That’ll Keep Tea Hot

Zojirushi stainless bottle sj-js10.

A sturdy thermos , like this one from Zojirushi, lets us bring our (piping! hot!) tea with us wherever we’re going. And this thing can keep tea HOT: in our tests, it held hot water above 175°F for six hours—that's almost an entire workday. Plus, it's petite and leakproof, so you can toss it into your bag and don't have to worry about the lid popping open and spilling hot tea everywhere. It also comes with a lid that doubles as a cup—cute!

  • Weight: 13.8 ounces
  • Materials: Stainless steel, plastic
  • Dimensions: 11.5 x 3.5 inches
  • Stated capacity: 1 liter
  • Lid type: Cup lid

Serious Eats / Jesse Raub

A Fancy Frother for Tea Lattes

Instant magicfroth milk frother.

We love a good matcha latte: the combination of the slightly bitter matcha and the warm embrace of milk is a match[a] made in heaven (hehe). But to make a matcha (or tea or coffee) latte, you need silky microfoam that won't dissolve when it hits the hot water. Enter the frother . Our favorite is from Instant and has multiple heat and froth level settings and an easy-to-navigate interface; it also whips up smooth, luscious foam that holds its structure when poured over tea.

  • Capacity: 17 ounces
  • Weight: 2.2 pounds
  • Dimensions: 6.5 x 4.2 x 6 inches
  • Temperature settings: Cold, warm, hot
  • Foam settings: Stir only, latte, cappuccino
  • Care instructions: Dishwasher-safe milk pitcher, wipe base clean with a damp cloth

A Bamboo Whisk for Making Matcha

Matcha dna bamboo whisk and hooked bamboo scoop.

No one likes clumpy matcha (or, at least, no one we know), and an important part of making a silky cup is vigorously whisking the powder with hot water. “If you are looking to elevate your matcha latte at home,” says Cheng, “then investing in a good whisk is crucial.”

  • Material: Bamboo
  • Dimensions: 4 x 2.3 inches
  • Dishwasher-safe: Yes

A Porcelain Gaiwan

Ling baobao 200 ml gaiwan.

“My go-to vessel to brew tea is a porcelain Gaiwan ,” says Cheng. “Gaiwans are very versatile; they can be used to brew an unroasted oolong or an aged pu-erh.” This Chinese vessel consists of a bowl with a lid and a saucer, a kind of hybrid tea cup/pot. To use it, the bowl is warmed with hot water before rinsed tea leaves are added; then, hot water is poured inside and the lid is set on top as the tea steeps, You can pour tea into separate cups to serve, using the lid to catch the tea leaves, or simply drink it straight from the Gaiwan itself.

  • Materials: Glazed ceramic
  • Dimensions: 3.75 x 3.25 inches
  • Stated capacity: 4 ounces

A Cute, Classic Tea Cup and Saucer

Pilivuyt coupe porcelain cup & saucer.

Williams Sonoma

While you can sip tea from your favorite mug (you know, the one with a sassy saying on it), sometimes it's nice to kick it up a notch with an elegant cup and saucer. This set from Pilivuyt has a classic look and, since it's made of ceramic, has great heat retention.

  • Materials: Porcelain
  • Saucer diameter: 6.25 inches
  • Stated cup capacity: 10 ounces

Do different teas require different water temperatures?

The short answer is yes; different teas require different water temperatures for optimal flavor. Herbal teas, for example, require boiling water to express their subtleties, while green tea sings with temperatures between 150°F to 180°F.

How long should you steep tea?

Tea steeping times vary according to tea type. Generally, steeping ranges from two to eight minutes. Green tea requires the least amount of time–two to four minutes–while oolong requires the commitment of five to eight minutes. Black teas, white teas, and herbal teas range from four to six minutes.

Is an electric kettle or stovetop kettle better?

Neither is better. Electric kettles are plugged in and, if they’re a variable temperature kettle, can be set to a specific water temperature. They often turn off after a set period of time, so you can set it and forget it (though your water might go cold). Stovetop kettles, as their name implies, are heated on a stovetop, making them a simpler (though often longer) way of brewing hot water.

Top 5 Teas For Travel

My top 5 teas for travel include both caffeinated and herbal teas. These teas help with everything from overcoming jet lag to staying healthy and stress free on the road!

1. Get Caffeine Without Anxiety

Black tea is a necessity for me whenever I’m travelling. For one, this is my daily routine, and, unlike coffee, tea isn’t always as available everywhere you go.

Black tea helps in a few ways. First, it helps me keep a routine; wake up and make a cup of tea. Second, black tea, like coffee, acts as a diuretic, which can prove very helpful on vacation (when you might not be able to go to the bathroom as regularly as you like to – more remedies for that later!).

But more importantly, black tea is caffeinated and also has L-Theanine. This allows a slower release of caffeine. So you get more energy slowly avoiding the jitters, crashes, and all around anxiety that can come with coffee – this is good for already stressful situations.

As a side effect, black tea is also healthy for you – read about the benefits of tea , and how it might actually help you live longer!

2. Best Tea For Jet Lag

Black tea is great if you need to stay awake, but what if you need help falling asleep? Well, there are teas for that too! Jet lag is a huge part of travelling there’s always new tricks to try and avoid it.

Even if you’re travelling somewhere without a time change, the first night’s sleep in a new place is never a good one. Apparently part of your brain stays semi-awake – just in case!

So, whether you need to a tea for jet lag or just sleep easier, pack some sleepy time tea to help have a better night’s sleep.

There are many different blends for sleepy teas, it’s just a matter of finding what works best for you (and the flavour you like best!).

The main brands are  Celestial  and  Traditional Medicinals  but you can also try  Yogi Blends .

The core ingredients in sleepy teas are typically chamomile and valerian. But make a point to check the other ingredients to make sure you’re okay with everything they add.

3. Digestive Support Travel Tea

Travel brings stress along with irregular meal schedules, and don’t even get me started on the strange food we sometimes have to eat! ( P.S. Are you a picky eater? See how I manage to travel with food restrictions ). All this to say, that travel can lead to some digestive issues.

As I said before, I love black tea for helping me go to the bathroom more regularly. If you’re having an unsettled stomach, but don’t want any caffeine, my go-to travel tea is peppermint. I brew a nice cup of mint tea after eating a meal if I’m feeling a bit too bloated.

For something stronger, Traditional Medicinal sells  Smooth Moves , a tea with Sena leaf also known for digestive support and to keep you regular!

4. Build Your Immune System With The Best Travel Tea

On top of the added stress and irregular schedule, you’re also in contact with so many new people that your immune system can become compromised. That’s why before you even leave for your trip, and then during your trip you really want to make sure you have a strong immune system.

Surprise, surprise, there’s a travel tea for that too! When I’m home, I like adding a slice of lemon to my tea to boost my immune system. But, when I’m travelling, I don’t always have access to a slice of lemon.

That’s where my favourite lemon tea steps in!  I Love Lemon  from Bigelow tea with Vitamin C is my all-time favourite. It’s hard to find in Canada though, but I recently stumbled on  this lemon and Echinacea  tea   that’s high in Zinc, I’m going to try it!

If lemon isn’t your favourite,  green tea  is also high in antioxidants which will help your immune system (and give you a little energy boost too!)

5. Stop Worrying About Your Period When Travelling

If you know you’re travelling around that time of the month don’t travel without Hibiscus tea! Whether I’m travelling for a weekend, a week, or two weeks, I always manage to have my period on vacation.

The worst is when you’re trying to enjoy your day and you end up with period cramps getting in your way. So, to avoid those days, I always pack some hibiscus tea .

It’s a proven benefit of hibiscus that it helps with cramps and it can even induce menstruation. But, before you try this magical tea, be sure to read more about the benefits AND Risks of hibiscus tea !

All Around Best Tea For Travel: Chamomile

At the end of the day, if there’s only one travel tea that I can recommend to bring, it’s  chamomile . First, it’s delicious, but, it also gives you the most benefits. Chamomile is used as a natural stress reliever, so it’s used in all the sleep easy teas.

As a bonus, it’s also rich in antioxidants. So drink up to build that weakened immune system. To make chamomile even better (as if that’s even possible), it’s also an anti-inflammatory. That means it can also help with period cramps, although you’ll have to start drinking it two weeks in advance for these benefits.

The only thing it doesn’t do is give you that extra caffeine boost that you might need.

How To Take Loose Leaf Teas To Go?

Taking loose leaf teas to go isn’t a problem at all – it just might require a bit more preparation. You can either pack the tea and then separate steepers. I recommend silicon refillable tea bags ( like these on Amazon ) – they won’t break, and are very squish-able so take up very little room in your suitcase. But then you have to start cleaning them on vacation and it isn’t always the cleanest.

Instead, I buy mesh tea bags. ( like these on Amazon ) that I pre pack with tea in advance. This way I don’t have to think about tea on the road the bags are already made. So I get good quality tea without the hassle of dealing with steepers.

If you’re looking for travel tea mugs, I love the ones from Davids Tea ( like this one on Amazon ). They keep your tea hot (or cold) for HOURS and they’re totally leak proof so you can keep it in your bag worry free!

Nice! I didn't know that about Hibiscus tea, I only thought Raspberry tea helps with female stuff!

You sure are a tea expert! I'm a coffee drinker, but my Mom is an avid tea enthusiast! She used to feed me chamomile blends to get me to sleep, and black tea in the mornings :-)

I try! What can I say, moms definitely know best! Coffee is great too for the jet lag and early morning wake up calls!

Wednesday 8th of April 2020

This is such a great idea. I love tea and should bring it with me when I travel. I love a cup of chamomile before I go to bed. Having one like lemon to boost my immune system would be a good idea too!

It's one of my essentials when I travel!

I love the idea of bringing teas with me when I travel! I never thought to do it, despite being a tea addict when I'm home in Toronto. Gonna for sure bring my chamomile next time I get to do some traveling. Thanks for the inspo!

Definitely bring some with you, it's perfect to relax with at night! It also takes up no extra space, it's a no brainer to bring in my mind :P

How to Brew Better Tea

If you think you're not a tea person, start here.

How to brew a perfect pot of tea

How to taste tea like a professional, where to buy the best tea.

Greg DuPree / Food Styling by Chelsea Zimmer / Prop Styling by Claire Spollen

As someone who bookends most days with a pot of tea , I’m surprised at how frequently people who can rattle off the differences between light- and dark-roast coffee or Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon start to look worried when confronted by a question like “Oolong or Assam?” After water, tea is the second-most-consumed beverage in the world, yet until recently, most Americans were content to stop at the word Lipton.

That’s changing, though. Right now, we’re in the midst of a tea renaissance. American drinkers are realizing that fine wine and tea have a lot in common and that, just as with wine, you get what you pay for—and it helps to know where (and how) to look.

But first, the basics. All true tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. (Herbal “teas” are really tisanes, not teas.) The difference between premium teas and the bagged offerings at the grocery store depends on where the leaves are grown, when they are picked, and how they’re treated afterward. “If a tea is grown at low elevations in a warm climate, the leaves grow very quickly and at a higher volume, but they can often be quite bitter,” says Peter Luong, the owner of Song Tea & Ceramics. Leaves grown at high elevations and cut by hand instead of by a machine are more balanced in flavor. And the pace of oxidation (a process during which leaves are intentionally damaged to expose them to oxygen, creating unique and complex flavors) also impacts the tea’s final flavor profile.

“When it comes to brewing coffee, you’ll get really general, straight answers down to the minute,” says Elena Liao, owner of Té Company. “But all tea leaves are different. It’s always best to refer to the temperature and steeping time recommended by the seller on the package.” That said, there are a few rules of thumb to bear in mind.

  • Measure your tea using a teaspoon or electronic scale. The amount of tea you’ll need per cup will usually be on the package.
  • Heat the water to the prescribed temperature. (A kettle with precise settings is especially helpful.)
  • Time your tea. Once you’ve poured water over your tea leaves, set a timer.
  • Halt steeping once the time’s up by removing the tea leaves (or bag) from the water—but don’t toss them in the compost just yet.
  • Repeat. Once you’ve finished your first cup, you can steep the same tea leaves several more times—just add more hot water back to the brewing vessel. “All good teas can and should be able to do multiple infusions,” says Liao. “Teas that are tightly rolled [like oolong] have these beautiful bell curves of steeping. You’ll see the fullest presentation or personality of the tea by the second infusion and get more flower notes or just the fruit notes by the third or the fourth.”

Temperature guide for teas based on style

  • Japanese green and white teas: These teas are delicate and often made using the bud of the tea plant, which is why they can tolerate water only at around 165°F and may require longer brewing times.
  • Matcha: Heat your water to 176°F before whisking in this milled green tea powder.
  • Oolongs and jasmine pearls: Use water between 190°F and 212°F (boiling). “Anything that looks like it’s tightly rolled, you want really hot water for the leaves to actually open up slowly,” Liao notes.
  • Black teas: These teas to tolerate high water temperatures and less precise steeping times without becoming unpleasantly bitter or astringent. Heat your water to 200°F.

If you’ve ever been to a wine tasting, you already know what to look for in a cup of tea. First things first: Get a good look at the color of the liquid. Is it golden yellow? Pale and grassy? Or dark brown, with a hint of cherry red?

Next, notice how viscous it is. Then, give it a sniff—get a good whiff of both the tea and the dried leaves, if you have them. “Ultimately, growing conditions and climate change are huge considerations with tea and wine,” says Peter Luong of Song Tea & Ceramics. “And also the craftsmanship component of it. In a vineyard, what you end up with after a harvest is a grape, but at some point, there’s a lot of skill that goes into changing that grape into a wine. Likewise, there’s a lot of skill that goes into changing, say, a green leaf into a tea.”

Best black tea purveryors

For breakfast-tea devotees, Luxmi Estates makes thoughtful loose-leaf and bagged blends from Assam and Darjeeling using only natural floral extracts and spices. Song Tea & Ceramics , which on its website refers to black tea as “red tea,” the traditional Chinese term, carries high-end Chinese offerings you won’t find elsewhere in the U.S. The Cultured Cup is the easiest way to get your hands on special blends from Mariage Frères, the famed French tea company that dates back to the mid-19th century. Try the Wedding Impérial, which is the perfect pairing for a slice of fudgy chocolate cake.

Best oolong tea purveyors

Three Gems Tea carries delightful, miniature tin flights of Taiwanese and Chinese oolongs, and we’re especially fond of their Midnight Blossom oolong, for which each leaf is handpicked and goes through a series of withering, roasting, and rolling steps.

With a focus on Taiwanese teas, Té Company carries everything from milk oolong, known for its creamy, buttery flavor, to a smoky, almost peated variety known as Iron Goddess , a lightly oxidized, oolong with rolled leaves that you’ll encounter when you sit down at many Dim Sum restaurants.

Best green tea purveyors

Our favorite shops for buying green tea include Tekuno , our go-to for bagged green tea that still feels special, with gift-worthy packaging and beautifully written tasting notes. New York-based Kettl offers a staggering selection that includes more than a dozen different senchas, while In Pursuit of Tea , which has been in the game for 25 years, is a great entry point into the classics, from genmaicha to gyokuro.

Matcha lovers should look to Ippodo Tea . The company has been sourcing high-quality Japanese teas since the early 1700s; it’s hard to beat their variety. Blue Bottle Coffee carries some of the best-priced everyday drinking matcha we’ve tried, while Kettl’s monthly matcha Mill Club Subscription is a fun way to try teas you’re unlikely to find elsewhere; the brand also carries stellar milled and unmilled hojicha.

This travel tea flask comes with a built-in infuser to give you the best brew without messy tea bags!

travel tea brewing

Inspired and derived from Chinese tea culture, Chá is a travel tea flask that brings the ritual of brewing tea at home back into making tea on the go.

Making your first cup of tea in the morning feels like a ritual. Like clockwork, the water boils, the flavor of tea leaves seep into your cup, and the tea is ready to be enjoyed while you curl up next to a window and read. Having tea on the go is a little different. When we make tea in stainless steel, thermal bottles , we can’t see how strong we’re making it and our tea-making rituals are always cut short. Chá is a travel tea flask that ties the ritual back into making tea on the go, born from a collaboration between Chinese EV maker Nio and UAL’s Central Saint Martins.

travel tea brewing

Chá is a travel tea bottle that can switch between a tea infuser and a regular thermal water bottle. Topped with a transparent lid, Chá allows each user to witness the seeping process while brewing tea to ensure their desired tea strength is achieved. With a handy rubber strap, users can even brew their tea with the bottle strapped to their backpack. The brewing process of Chá is just like filling a water bottle, but the lid of Chá features a compartment where users can place tea bags near a built-in infuser and transparent section that reveals the strength of each brew.

travel tea brewing

The built-in infuser opens with a turn of the bottle’s lid, then the user can turn Chá upside down and watch as their water darkens with tea. If users want to only drink water, then the infuser can be just as easily closed and Chá can be filled with fresh water to be used as a regular water bottle. Ergonomic and inviting by design, Chá combines style with the traditional ritual of tea making.

travel tea brewing

Explaining the brewing process, the designers behind Chá describe, “Twisting the two halves of the opaque lid against one another to form an ‘O’ or a horizontal ‘S’, opens or closes the infuser respectively. An open infuser allows the contents of its flask to infuse with each other. Enabling the infuser and flipping the flask upside down exposes the water to the tea leaves for infusion while the user can monitor for their desired thickness of the tea through the transparent lid.”

"The grip is comfortable, and the twist-off lid is extremely tight. It hasn’t ever spilled, even when jostled in my tote bag. There are small sip holes around the perimeter of the top of the infuser so you can drink from any angle, all while the flow of liquid is slow and controlled. Finally, because of the stainless-steel insulation, it stays at temperature for hours."

How do I make tea in the Stop-Infusion Travel Mug?

It's simple. Here's what to do:

  • Remove the tea press.
  • Add your loose leaf tea – 1 tbsp. for hot tea, or 2 tbsp. for iced.
  • Add hot water to the lower fill line for iced tea, or the upper fill line for hot tea.
  • When your tea has steeped, push the tea press all the way down to stop infusion. You can do this anywhere!
  • If you want iced tea, add ice to the chamber of the press before pushing down.

Is the Stop-Infusion Travel Mug made of safe materials?

We believe in quality first, and that goes for the materials we use. The travel mug itself is constructed from medical-grade stainless steel. The tea press is made using Eastman Tritan™ which is BPA and Bisphenol-free.

What makes the Stop-Infusion Travel Mug so special?

Ever tried to steep tea on the go in a regular travel mug? Scooping out a tea bag or straining tea leaves is a hassle and makes a mess. We're not about that, and we bet you don't love it either.

With a simple push down on the tea press, you can stop the infusion of your tea. That means perfect flavor, never oversteeped.

Another innovation – because why stop at one – is the ability to add ice to the press for iced tea. Game-changer.

We also added stratgeic holes along the upper perimeter of the press to control the flow of liquid. So whether it's a sudden stop or trying to get those last few sips, you won't get splashed in the face.

Add in premium materials, double-walled insulation, and big style points, and this travel mug just might become your most prized possession.

What's the deal with your Money-Back Guarantee?

We take the risk out of your purchase. Try out our Stop-Infusion Travel Mug, and if you don't love it, get in touch with our team within 30 days. We'll help you solve any issues or questions you're experiencing, or we'll refund you.

When can I expect my order?

Get excited, because we're getting it to you fast. Expect 2-day shipping on most orders. We'll stay in touch throughout the order and delivery process so that you can track your new travel mug to your door.

China’s bubble tea boom a brew for billionaires

travel tea brewing

HONG KONG – Are you a fan of bubble tea? Love it or hate it, the passion for the drink has created at least six billionaires in China in the past few years and is at the heart of several other potential fortunes.

Sichuan Baicha Baidao Industrial, China’s No. 3 bubble tea chain, this week raised about HK$2.59 billion (S$450 million) in Hong Kong’s biggest new share sale since November. The valuation gives its husband-and-wife founders, Mr Wang Xiaokun and Ms Liu Weihong, a combined net worth of US$2.7 billion (S$3.7 billion) based on the 73 per cent stake they will own after the initial public offering (IPO), according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Despite Baicha Baidao’s confidence, the market debuts of several other Chinese bubble tea makers that have hinted at Hong Kong IPOs are in limbo. Growing competition threatens to take out some of the weaker players, and Hong Kong – once among the busiest venues for deals – has lost its appeal as shares have slumped in China’s economic downturn. Baicha Baidao shares plunged more than 31 per cent in their trading debut in Hong Kong on April 23, underscoring the challenges the financial hub is facing in reviving investor confidence. The shares ended the day at HK$12.80, 26.86 per cent lower than the IPO price.

“The market is not giving this sector as lofty valuations as before,” said Mr Kenny Ng, a strategist at Everbright Securities International. “There has been an uneven revival of consumption in mainland China, so the profitability of consumer businesses remains uncertain.”

Bubble tea was invented in Taiwan in the late 1980s, with small stalls selling it near schools and offices. As the trend started to take root in Hong Kong and mainland China in the 1990s, chains began springing up. Today, thousands of brands vie for the attention of thirsty tea lovers across China, and countless shops have popped up in the United States and Europe, although the biggest Chinese providers do not sell there – yet.

Baicha Baidao, also known as Chabaidao (“100 varieties of tea”), was built on serving price-conscious fans of the stuff. The founders opened their first outlet in 2008, a 20 sq m shop near a middle school in Chengdu. In 2018, they introduced a franchise model that turbocharged growth, and today, the company has more than 8,000 shops across China. In January, Baicha Baidao opened an outlet in Seoul, its first outside China, and at home, it introduced its first coffee shop, Coffree.

Baicha Baidao’s stores have long sold a half-litre serving of bubble tea for a bit more than US$2, while the industry average until recently was closer to US$5. The strategy has paid off, with sales jumping more than 56 per cent between 2021 and 2023 to 5.7 billion yuan (S$1.1 billion), according to Baicha Baidao’s IPO prospectus.

Two other bubble tea billionaires are brothers Zhang Hongchao and Zhang Hongfu, who in 1997 founded Mixue Bingcheng in Henan province. The Mixue Group calls itself the world’s second-largest drink chain after Starbucks by number of stores, with more than 32,000 outlets across China and 4,000 in 11 other countries, mostly nearby.

After a 2020 cash infusion from investors, including the venture arm of Chinese food delivery giant Meituan and Hillhouse Investment Management, the tea maker was valued at 23.3 billion yuan, pushing the net worth of each brother to US$1.5 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

With China’s economy slowing and inflation-weary consumers tightening their belts, more producers are cutting prices. Guming Holdings – China’s second-largest player, with some 9,000 stores – and No. 4 Auntea Jenny (Shanghai) Industrial, which have also filed IPO documents in Hong Kong, now charge less than US$3.50 per cup.

Higher-end tea makers such as Nayuki Holdings – an 1,800-store chain that went public in Hong Kong three years ago – have suffered from the rapid growth of cheaper rivals. Nayuki, which reduced the price of a cup to about US$2.50, has seen its shares tumble almost 90 per cent since their listing on concerns over competition, and its once-billionaire founders, Ms Peng Xin and husband Zhao Lin, are now worth less than US$300 million, down from US$2.2 billion in 2021.

“I’m optimistic about the prospects of the industry leaders,” said Mr Steven Nie, an analyst at Daiwa Capital Markets. “But the fresh tea drinks sector is getting too crowded.” BLOOMBERG

Brewery Rowe: Travel writer explores ‘Beer Hiking’ in Southern California

Travel writer Johanna Flashman sampling some regional beers.

• Show more sharing options
  • Copy Link URL Copied!

When a publisher suggested Johanna Flashman write a book on outdoor treks that lead to great refreshments, the veteran travel writer grabbed her pint glass and laced up her hiking boots.

“It wasn’t originally my idea,” Flashman said of “Beer Hiking Southern California,” which hit bookshelves on April 2 (Helvitiq, $27.95).

Working with the same publisher on another project, Flashman had been dreaming about “doing a kind of big tour of Southern California.”

When Helvitiq, a Swiss publishing house, proposed “Beer Hiking” in August 2022, Flashman wasted no time hitting the trails, the breweries and the keyboard.

“I started doing hikes in November 2022,” she said. “It was pretty fast turn-around — all the writing and research took about nine months.”

Flashman covered a vast amount of ground — and ecosystems.

“A lot of times when people think about Southern California, they think of the cities. But there is so much open space, as well,” she said.

“There are incredible mountains, Joshua trees, deserts, waterfall hikes, beach hikes and coastal bluffs. It’s very, very diverse.”

Travel writer Johanna Flashman sips a beer.

The resulting 288-page book — subtitled “The Tastiest Way to Discover SoCal’s Beaches, Mountains, and Deserts” — gives step-by-step directions to dozens of hikes, ranging from Powers Peak in Kern County to Volcan Mountain in Julian. Every outing is accompanied by trail notes, maps and a recommendation for post-hike hydration.

In the above examples, they are Lovely Raspberry Kettle Sour from Kern River Brewing and Elevation 5353 Cold IPA from Julian Beer.

“The beers were a lot of fun,” she said. “One of the things I wanted to focus on was to highlight breweries owned by people of color and those owned by women, because there aren’t as many as there should be.”

In San Diego County, her quest led to strolling through the Chicano Park Urban Art Walk; pausing for a Buenas Vibras Blonde Ale at Mujeres Brew House; scaling Valley Center’s Paradise Mountain and quaffing a Tropical Oasis Blonde Ale at Rincon Reservation Road Brewery; and exploring Jamul’s Mother Miguel Mountain before enjoying Can’t Touch This Imperial Red Ale at the Chula Vista Brewery.

Of the nine counties covered by “Beer Hiking,” only Los Angeles County, with its nine hikes, has more outings than San Diego County.

“I had eight breweries I could feature from San Diego County,” she said. “That’s not fair — there are so many good ones.”

Double play

Two reliable signs of spring: Padres baseball returns to Petco Park and so does Padres Beerfest .

This season’s pregame fests, featuring live music and $5 12-ounce pours, will be launched today before the home team’s contest against the Phillies.

The other dates:

June 7, before playing the Diamondbacks.

Aug. 2, prior to tangling with the Rockies.

Sept. 6, as the Giants comes to town.

Held on the grounds of the newly-redesigned Gallagher Square, Beerfest starts at 4:30 p.m. and ends shortly before the first pitch. The beer lineup is subject to change but, like our hometown team, usually includes a fair number of heavy hitters.
