UConn Huskies at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion and the XL Center

The Huskies split their home games between the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut, and the larger XL Center in Hartford. Gampel opened in 1990 and seats more than 10,000 fans, while the XL Center, formerly the Hartford Civic Center, opened in 1975 and has a capacity of nearly 16,000 for basketball games. Home games feature a boisterous student section and the charming Big Red tradition. When the Huskies make a run or score a big bucket, a longtime redheaded superfan named Tom Emery leads the arena in a "U! C! O! N! N! UConn! UConn! UConn!" chant.

UConn Huskies Men's Basketball History

Entering the 2019–2020 season, the UConn Huskies men's basketball team had won more national championships since 1999 than any other program in the country — four in all, three of them under coach Jim Calhoun and one under his successor, former point guard Kevin Ollie. Their title seasons featured some of the best players in the college game, among them Richard Hamilton in 1999, Ben Gordon and Emeka Okafor in 2004, Kemba Walker in 2011, and Shabazz Napier in 2014.

It was Calhoun who turned a regional power into a national power. Under longtime coach Hugh Greer, the Huskies won 12 Yankee Conference titles in 16 full seasons but made it beyond the NCAA tournament's first round only once. Greer died of a heart attack in 1963, having won 286 games and lost 112, a winning percentage of .719 clip. Calhoun was hired away from Northeastern in 1986 and by the end of the decade he'd fashioned UConn into a team worthy of a top seed in the NCAA tourney. That 1989–90 "Dream Season" included a memorable Sweet 16 victory over Clemson. With a second remaining and the Huskies trailing by a point, Scott Burrell fired a full-court pass to Tate George, who dropped in his turnaround jumper to give UConn the win. Calhoun wrapped up his career in Storrs in 2012 with a 629-245 record and a .720 winning percentage.

UConn is now a reliable pipeline of NBA-worthy talent. Among the future pros who passed through Connecticut: Ray Allen, Caron Butler, Andre Drummond, Rudy Gay, Jeremy Lamb, Donyell Marshall and Clifford Robinson.

Uconn v prov red cross.

Excellent event, excellent venue - not a bad seat, free parking. Clear advantages over Htfd Civic Center. The $10 seat that turned into $20.40 for a charity event was lousy. I hope that whoever was on the receiving end of those $$s (I couldn't tell, could you?) made a donation also.

Big East Rivalry Rocks!

Do this again! Rivalries like this can't be ignored, definitely when done for a good cause in the area's top venue. One-sided game revealed Friar's veteran strengths and UCONN's freshman potential. Great night!

Great environment

Great seats..great crowd...lots of fun...arena perfect for basketball no bad seat.

Very good game and atmosphere. It was too hot though.

Great game and atmosphere

Great venue for a game. Always a treat to see UConn, especially at home in Fairfield County!

UConn Game was awesome!!!

Great time, good environment, lots of energy in the building, electric atmosphere. Good to share UConn hoops with lower Fairfield County and close to home

More Huskies Please

Had a great time seeing the UCONN Huskies men's basketball team play this past Monday at Webster Bank Arena. Seats were excellent and at a great price. Now all we need is a few more games down here in Fairfield County! The arena itself is nice, there are no bad seats and it's clean. Now for the negative. Food quality needs drastic improvement for the prices charged and $20 for parking in a dirt lot is ridiculous.

UCONN Huskies Men's Basketball

Great game, great venue. Would definitely go again, easy to get there and park.

UConn Basketball at Webster Bank Arena

I've only been to Webster Bank Arena on one other occasion for a basketball game. It was great to be able to see the UConn men play a basketball game there without having to make the trip to Hartford or Storrs. The atmosphere wasn't the same as it would have been at Gampel but it was still good.

Uconn Mens Basketball at Webster Arena

This event was a great time. It was incredible to have the Men's basketball in our own backyard. Hoping for a return next year!

UConn Basketball Scholarship Seating Program

We are asking for you to join us on our continuing mission to provide an outstanding academic and athletic experience for our student-athletes.

Message from the Athletic Director

Dear UConn Basketball Fan:

Our championship success has served as a point of pride for many years. Dozens of conference titles and 15 combined men’s and women’s basketball championships are reason for celebration. Thankfully, though, we are not content with past achievements. At UConn, resting on our laurels is not an option.

Being back home in the Big East has brought a renewed sense of energy to all of our teams and our fan base alike, and we are hungry for more. Since our return to the Big East, our field hockey, baseball, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s track and field, and men’s golf teams have all captured conference crowns. We have rekindled old rivalries and are anxious to start new ones. Chasing conference and national titles is our everyday goal. You wouldn’t expect anything less.

Whether in business or sports or life itself, there are no shortcuts to success. Winning takes effort, diligence, perseverance and teamwork. We are very fortunate that our dedicated supporters understand the commitment and have been active participants in our mission for excellence. Our fans also realize that competing at the highest level requires ongoing resources. The costs associated with scholarship aid, recruiting, facilities and personnel across our 21 varsity teams continue to escalate. In examining best practices among our peers, we have seen that others, including the top programs in the Big East, are generating more funding through their scholarship seating programs than we are currently realizing. In some cases, annual fundraising efforts through tickets and/or seat donations are 20 to 30% percent higher at schools with which we compete regionally or nationally.

Please know we appreciate that UConn fans like you have helped carry the load for many years and have provided countless opportunities for the 600+ young men and women who proudly wear the Husky uniform. Your donations have laid a strong foundation on which our many championships have been built. But as we look ahead to the future, we must enhance our support, so that our coaches can bring the best, most talented student-athletes to Storrs and develop them into Huskies, both physically and mentally.

You will see important information here regarding basketball season ticket renewals and new sales. It will include, for men’s basketball, a three-year pricing schedule. Patrons who renew or order before the priority deadline will enjoy more favorable pricing than new customers who hop onboard later. For women’s basketball, you will notice the introduction of seat donations, similar to that which have been in place for the men over the past few years. Our women’s program continues to be the standard in the sport and must be supported as such.

Through these structural changes to our season ticket process, it is certainly not our intent to overburden our loyal supporters. We recognize that everyone has obligations which require the allocation of finite resources. That’s why we will continue to offer various price levels and options for every budget.

It is our hope that you will choose to travel with us on this ongoing journey, and that you will reflect on the joy which UConn basketball has brought to our lives and the heartwarming feelings derived from supporting the academic and athletic achievements of our student-athletes. Together, we will maintain the championship tradition which has become synonymous with UConn basketball. Go Huskies!

Frequently Asked Questions

As a season ticket holder and supporter of UConn Athletics, you share the vision that a UConn athletic program is one of national relevance and competitive excellence. As we look to strategically execute that mission and continue to serve our student-athletes, increased revenue from all sources is necessary.

The last comprehensive price increase occurred when we adopted the priority seating model in the spring of 2019.

We evaluated institutions within the BIG EAST Conference and nationally and found that both our ticket pricing and total revenue through ticket sales for men’s basketball were significantly less than that of our peers.

Renewing or new men’s basketball season ticket buyers who purchase prior to June 17, 2022 will enjoy the benefit of the three year tiered pricing model. Anyone who does not renew or purchase new season tickets after the annual priority deadline date will pay year three prices at the point of purchase. Men’s and women’s basketball season ticket prices are subject to increase each year.

The Women’s Basketball Scholarship Seating Program has been established to directly support the education of today’s Huskies. Like the Men’s Basketball Scholarship Seating Program, it is variable throughout the venue based on ticket price and location. The introduction of seat donations for women’s basketball will help ensure the ongoing excellence within our program and support equitable opportunities for all UConn student-athletes.

UConn advances to NCAA title game: Reigning champions roll past Alabama in Final Four 2024 seeking repeat

Uconn will get a chance to be the first repeat as ncaa tournament champions since florida did in 2006-07.

No. 1 overall seed UConn secured its spot in the national championship game with a 86-72 win over No. 4 seed Alabama on Saturday night in the Final Four. The Huskies withstood a series of runs from the Crimson Tide, countering every one of them with a barrage of their own.

Stephon Castle led the way by matching a career-high 21 points as the freshman wing put his five-star talent on full display. Down the stretch, 7-foot-2 center Donovan Clingan helped put it away with a pair of dunks that served as knockout blows. Alabama guard Mark Sears scored 24 to lead the Crimson Tide, but they couldn't overcome a sluggish shooting performance in the second half.

UConn's win sets up the 10th-ever national title game between No. 1 seeds as the Huskies will take on fellow No. 1 seed Purdue on Monday night. If UConn wins, it will become the repeat national champion in Division I men's basketball since Florida did it in 2006 and 2007.

Alabama presented UConn with its most significant challenge of any opponent yet in the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide took a 31-30 lead with 4:58 remaining in the first half on a Latrell Wrightsell Jr. 3-pointer. It was part of an 8 of 11 shooting performance from beyond the arc in the opening stanza for Bama. But it proved to be Alabama's last lead.

""They're like the hardest team to guard," UConn coach Dan Hurley said. "Illinois had a great offense, but these guys were harder to guard because of their one-on-one abilities."

Crimson Tide guard Aaron Estrada lined up an open 3-pointer with 11:49 remaining in the game. If it had fallen, it would have given Alabama a 59-56 lead. But it rimmed out, and an 8-0 UConn run ensued. The miss was part of a 3 of 12 shooting performance from 3-point range in the second half for the Crimson Tide.

"They're good," Alabama coach Nate Oats said. "Like Danny says, they're close to being bulletproof. When you're that good on both sides of the ball, when you outrebound teams. The box score had us down for zero fast break points, that's the first time all season that's happened to us."

Blockbuster title matchup

A must-see national title game is set for Monday night as the No. 1 overall seed Huskies will take on No. 1 seed Purdue in a battle of two teams that dominated college basketball all season long. The NCAA Tournament produced plenty of upsets and unexpected outcomes, but even March Madness couldn't interfere with the inevitable showdown between the Huskies and the Boilermakers.

The game will put Clingan  against 7-4 Zach Edey of Purdue. UConn has a deeper supporting cast, but the Boilermakers surround Edey with a ton of shooters and are a team on a mission after last year's first-round loss to a No. 16 seed. UConn received a favorable draw in last year's national title game, facing No. 5 seed San Diego State and winning 76-59. It likely won't be so easy this time as the Huskies seek to repeat.

Clingan's big March continues

Clingan continued his monster postseason with another sterling performance on both ends, finishing 8 of 14 from the floor with four blocks. Alabama is a team that prefers 3-point shots and looks at the rim, but Clingan was there all night to disrupt Alabama's forays to the basket. Once the Crimson Tide went cold from 3-point range, points became difficult to find with Clingan playing the role of defensive enforcer. He also came up huge offensively and is averaging 16.2 points in the 2024 NCAA Tournament as he heads toward a monster showdown with Purdue and Zach Edey.

Castle rises for UConn

Castle showed why he is considered the No. 10 player on CBS Sports' 2024 NBA Draft Big Board . The Crimson Tide dared the versatile 6-6 weapon to shoot 3-pointers, and he delivered with a pair of early makes that helped open up the floor. From there, he showcased his chops as a playmaker while turning in one of the best games of the year on a massive stage.

Castle provided four of the eight points during a critical 8-0 run in the middle of the second half that helped UConn gain separation. He also handled difficult defensive assignments, using his combination of size and athleticism to disrupt Alabama's attack. This time of year, relying on freshmen is a risky proposition. But Castle was up to the challenge and then some against Alabama.

"You knew right away in the recruiting process because of how quickly and decisively he made a decision based on the things that really mattered." Hurley said "He's seen some guards have great success with us over the years. You just knew when you recruited him. And when you got to the first practice, whether you ripped him or praised him, he was always, 'yes, coach.' ... A lot of NBA teams come through and watch us practice and see him where he's got the ball in his hands more and doing things."

UConn returning to the title game

Final: (1) uconn 86, (4) alabama 72.

A blockbuster national title game between No. 1 seed UConn and No. 1 seed Purdue is set for Monday night after the Huskies withstood a test to beat No. 4 seed Alabama 86-72 in the Final Four on Saturday night. Stephon Castle matched a career-high 21 points to lead the Huskies, who withstood a persistent Crimson Tide squad that gave UConn its most difficult game of the NCAA Tournament so far. Donovan Clingan added 18, including a couple of huge dunks in the final minutes that served as knockout blows. Alabama hit 8 of 11 shots from 3-point range in the first half but struggled to maintain that prolific shooting in the second half. The Crimson Tide were just 3 of 12 from deep after the break.

Getting dark on Alabama

4:00: (1) uconn 73, (4) alabama 63.

Alabama has punched back on UConn runs all night. But as the final media timeout arrives, the Crimson Tide have made just 2 of their last 11 attempts from the floor. Do they have one more run in the tank? Alabama is just 2 of 10 from beyond the arc in the second half after making 8 of 11 in the first. Inconvenient for UConn is the fact that freshman star Stephon Castle has four fouls. He's been the Huskies' best player but has been on the bench for a couple of minutes.

Alabama hanging around

7:34: (1) uconn 67, (4) alabama 61.

Alabama keeps hanging around. Mark Sears is in his bag and up to 19 points to pace the Crimson Tide. Of note, Elite Eight hero Jarin Stevenson has been quiet tonight without a shot attempt for Bama. Will he make an impact down the stretch? He could be an x-factor player to watch after he was critical in helping Alabama escape the Clemson game.

UConn weathers the Nelson storm

10:27: (1) uconn 64, (4) alabama 56.

Grant Nelson dunked on Donovan Clingan and then took him into the post for a bucket. Then, he was matched up with Alex Karaban and out-muscled him for another score to tie the game at 56. But in the ensuing two minutes, UConn rattled off an 8-0 run in the blink of an eye. Just when it looked like Nelson was leading the Crimson Tide back into it, the Huskies push the door shut again. Stephon Castle is up to 21 points and looking every bit like a top-10 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Game of runs

15:31: (1) uconn 55, (4) alabama 47.

Alabama went on a 7-0 run to draw within a point. Now, UConn has struck back with a 7-0 run of its own, highlighted by a 3-pointer from Alex Karaban and a dunk from Stephon Castle, who is having a monster game. It is incredible how the Huskies can flip the script in an instant, and that's what they've done here after Alabama came out of the gate swinging to begin the second half. Critical stretch ahead for the Crimson Tide, who have not trailed by double digits.

Alabama needs to up the pace

Alabama averages 30.1 3-point attempts per game but got just 11 up in the first half as the pace followed UConn's preference. If the Crimson Tide can get the tempo going a little faster, it could help them tire out Donovan Clingan and get better looks at the rim. The Tide hit 8 of 11 from deep in the first half, but keeping that percentage up will be difficult. Getting looks at the rim will be key, and getting out in transition is one of the only ways to do that against the Huskies.

UConn getting a challenge

Half: (1) uconn 44, (4) alabama 40.

Mark Sears hit a critical 3-pointer with 50 seconds remaining in the half to stop a UConn spurt and help keep Alabama firmly within striking distance. He added a layup just before the break to finish with 11 points. Stephon Castle played a tremendous half for UConn. The freshman wing tallied 13 points, including a pair of relatively unexpected 3-pointers. Alabama is 8 of 11 from 3-point range. It will have to sustain excellent perimeter shooting in order to have a chance. The Huskies are getting a challenge, but they are handling it well.

UConn gritting through it

3:12 1h: (1) uconn 35, (4) alabama 31.

Alabama is 7 of 10 from beyond the arc, but UConn is gritting through it and has itself positioned to close the first half with a bang. A 9-2 edge in made free throws has been critical for the Huskies, who are also doing a great job of taking care of the basketball with just two turnovers so far. Mark Sears and Grant Nelson each have two fouls for Alabama. Nate Oats is typically not afraid to let his guys stay on the floor with two fouls in the first half. And it's been no different here.

Uconn's dominant run to the final four, by the numbers.

uconn basketball tour

GLENDALE, Ariz. —  The favorite at the Final Four is as clear as a 30-0 run. Nobody has been able to beat Connecticut lately. Nobody has been able to even stay with Connecticut lately. Four NCAA tournament games, four winning walks in the park of 39, 17, 30 and 25 points. Holy blowout.

“We've made an incredibly hard tournament to advance in look easy,” coach Dan Hurley said. “Probably a lot easier than it really is.”

So what to think about this runaway bullet train? We could ask the guys from Alabama now in the way. But first, look at some of the numbers that say the Crimson Tide are in considerable peril Saturday evening.

111. The combined winning margin for UConn after its first four NCAA tournament games. That's the largest in the history of the event, passing the UCLA champions of 1967 and ’68. The Huskies are in Lew Alcindor territory now. Can the praise get any higher than that?

40-23. Connecticut’s average lead in the NCAA tournament — at halftime.

14. Shots blocked by Donovan Clingan in the tournament. That’s one more than shots he’s missed since he has made 27 of his 40 own attempts. “I love blocking shots. I love playing defense,” he said Friday. Words to warm any coach’s heart.

383. Days since the Huskies last trailed in the second half of an NCAA tournament game, That was the second round in 2023, by one point against Saint Mary’s. For 38 seconds. They’ve never been behind after halftime of the eight tournament games since.

31. Victories by double digits in the past 32 non-conference games Connecticut has played.

32.2. Shooting percentage of UConn’s first four NCAA opponents.

4-for-27. Shooting by Northwestern’s Boo Buie and Illinois’ Terrence Shannon Jr. against the Huskies in the past two weeks. They were averaging a combined 43 points before their games against Connecticut. Then they ran into the Huskies’ defense, mostly Stephon Castle, and scored a combined 17.

✍️  Tracking 2024 March Madness men's records by conference

30-0. The run the Huskies put on Big Ten tournament champion Illinois in the East Regional, and the number that so far best defines Connecticut’s astonishing dominance. “I didn’t even realize we were on a 30-0 run in the moment, we were having so much fun out there,” Clingan said. These are figures that suggest Connecticut is taking no prisoners, and you can hear that in the player's words as they credit their single-minded purpose to Hurley.

Clingan: “In every single huddle he’s making sure that we don’t take our foot off the gas.”

Tristen Newton: “He’s never satisfied. We could be up 30 and give up five straight points and he’s yelling at us in the huddle. We have crazy film sessions, there’s always something he’s going to find. After last game, Illinois (which ended 77-52), we had an hour-long film session. He showed us all the defensive mistakes and all the stuff we could have done better on offense."

Cam Spencer: “Treat every possession like it’s your last and good things will come from that.”

All that resolve is now aimed at Big Al the Alabama elephant. The Tide have some of their own reasons for confidence. They’ve scored more than 100 points in 10 games, the most for an SEC team in 34 years. They’re dangerous from the arc, shooting 41.4 percent in 3-pointers for the tournament and making 16 more than any other team here, 23 more than Connecticut. They beat good opponents to get here (but alas, have given up an average of 90 points in the past 14 games). “I like where our guys' heads are at,” coach Nate Oats said Friday. “Obviously we're big underdogs, we know that. UConn is very good. They've been running through the competition. But I don't think our guys are scared. I think our guys are confident in their abilities.”

You can go around the Tide locker room and hear that. They don’t mind being the team thought by so many to be on a suicide mission.

“That’s the best way to play basketball, when everybody is predicting the other team to win,” leading scorer Mark Sears was saying Friday. “Just go in there and play freely, That’s really how we’ve been this whole tournament.”

But what about that shocking 30-0 knockout punch Connecticut put on Illinois?

“We actually watched the film on how it happened. That (Illini) team made a lot of mental errors and took shots they shouldn’t have taken,” Sears said. What about all those Huskies numbers that glow in the dark? “We just see numbers. We saw North Carolina numbers before we played them, Clemson numbers,” guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. said.

Over to guard Rylan Griffen. “That’s what they do. They go on runs. All it does is tell me we can’t let them go on that run. It doesn’t really scare me. It worries you to a certain degree, you know at any time that team could be going, but at the same time, you can’t think about that. That is frightening, though.”

Griffen has seen it firsthand. Alabama was tied with the Huskies with just under nine minutes in a game early last season. Connecticut then went on a 21-2 run and won going away. “We won 32 minutes of that game. I remember that vividly,” Griffen said. “I think we should have beat them but that run killed us.”

There is something else at work for Alabama; so many of the top players are transfers from mid-majors. Sears came from Ohio, Grant Nelson from North Dakota State, Wrightsell from Cal State Fullerton, Nick Pringle from Wofford, Aaron Estrada from Hofstra. They’ve had journeys that required hard labor for everything they’ve gained. They know the world of the underdog.

“That’s the feeling we’ve had all our lives,” Pringle said. “I’ve always been bet against I’ve always been doubted. I love proving people wrong. That’s the best feeling in the world.”

Same for Sears. “We still have a chip on our shoulder that we’re going to prove to everybody that slept on us, that we should have been on this on this level to start with. We all have the mentality to outwork people. Just having that underdog mentality, that’s something I’ve always had my whole life. It’s nothing new coming into this game.”

And even for Oats: “I feel like I'm a little bit the same way. I'm just a high school guy who caught a break and's still trying to prove that I belong at this level. I think those guys are mid-major players with a chip on their shoulders. They played well enough that now they get an opportunity to prove that they belong at this level, and they're still trying to prove it to this day.

“I want our guys playing loose and free, but I want them thinking they got a chance to win.”

MEN'S BRACKET CHALLENGE GAME:  Check your bracket here

The past has some sobering news. The Tide are new to this stage and of the past 40 rookies in the Final Four since 1967, only one — Connecticut in 1999 — has won a national championship. Only 12 of the other 39 even made it to the title game. So the precedent is not encouraging for Alabama, but not nearly as worrisome as the opponent. If the Tide are hoping for some help from the Huskies taking anything for granted . . . it doesn’t sound promising.

“Look, we've lost three games,” Hurley said. “We got crushed at Creighton. At Seton Hall we got our butt kicked, too. If we're not on our identity, we're vulnerable like everybody else.”

One of his themes for this team is making history at a place where it’s hard to make history, repeating as national champions. But UConn is not there quite yet.

“Our eyes are set on the prize. We realize what we’re trying to do here,” Newton said “We never really talk about back-to-back, we talk about winning the championship. If we don’t come out prepared for this next game we have tomorrow, there’s no history being made. We’re not going to be there. We’re going to be sad in the locker room.”

Spencer noted that ”the score starts at 0-0 so they’re not an underdog. Obviously, they’ve gotten to the Final Four for a reason.”

He is so focused on the task at hand, that he had an unusual answer Friday to if he was enjoying all this Final Four revelry: “To be honest, no.” The hot shooting transfer from Rutgers is grimly chasing a trophy. All savoring the moment is on hold. “Hopefully we can get him the ring and then see him smile a little bit,” Newton said.

Nor is Hurley dwelling on the riches this team has already accumulated — Big East season and tournament titles, No. 1 ranking, return to the Final Four. “You do take little moments to appreciate it,” he said. “But they don’t last long.”

Here at the end of the road, he believes the burden that any Connecticut team carries because of the glorious past — including this one with its rapidly expanding expectations — has to help.

“Now you're staring at a chance to make history as a back-to-back,” he said. “Everyone in the Final Four now feels pressure, but we don't have more pressure on us than Alabama, Purdue or NC State because everyone here believes they're going to win the national championship. What helps us, though, is the pressure that we feel from the beginning of the season, because of the history and the tradition, and the pressure of every game that we play at UConn. We're not under the radar ever. I think that helps us when we get out under the bright lights.”

The lights will be full power Saturday night on Connecticut and the nothing-to-lose opponent from the SEC that would deny it a chance for history. What the Tide needs is for the Huskies to maybe — even unconsciously — take their foot off the accelerator. Just for an hour or two. But when was the last time UConn did that?

“I don’t know the last time,” Spencer said. “But it damn sure won’t be this weekend.”

UConn Men's Basketball Faces Travel Issues En Route to Final Four in Phoenix

  • Author: Tom Dierberger

In this story:

The UConn men's basketball team punched its ticket to the Final Four without much trouble, handily defeating Stetson, Northwestern, San Diego State and Illinois to win the East Region.

Actually traveling to the Final Four in Phoenix, however, posed a challenge for coach Dan Hurley and the Huskies.

CBS Sports' Matt Norlander reported Wednesday the Huskies' original flight to Phoenix was scheduled to leave Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET, but their plane arriving from Kansas City had logistical and mechanical issues that forced a delay.

Per Norlander, the crew flying the plane from Kansas City would be over their FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) hours and can't fly the team to Arizona. UConn would have to wait until 10 a.m. ET on Thursday to fly on that plane.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported later Wednesday that the Huskies found a solution—a flight expected to leave the East Coast around 11:30 p.m. ET Wednesday. UConn will arrive in Phoenix around 2 a.m. ET Thursday.

Was told that UConn’s men’s team appears to have a solution to its travel woes getting to Arizona. A flight is expected to leave around 11:30 tonight. They’ll get in around 2 a.m. As @MattNorlander noted, there’s been mechanical/crew issues for the Huskies. — Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) April 4, 2024

While the Huskies waited in limbo for an available flight, the other three Final Four teams—Alabama, Purdue and NC State—already arrived in Phoenix.

UConn, the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, is set to face No. 4 seed Alabama in the national semifinals on Saturday at State Farm Stadium.

Final Four radio station 2024: Channel, live streams to listen to NCAA basketball tournament game broadcast

The madness of March has given way to April, which means the stage is finally set for a thrilling Final Four.

UConn dominated the East Region, winning all four of its games by at least 25 points en route to its second consecutive Final Four. Just two wins stand between the Huskies and back-to-back national titles.

High-flying Alabama awaits first, as the Crimson Tide upended the West Region by knocking off No. 1 North Carolina and then No. 6 Clemson to advance to the first Final Four in program history.

On the other side of the bracket, No. 1 Purdue exorcised its NCAA Tournament demons. After falling to No. 16 Farleigh Dickinson last season, Zach Edey and the Boilermakers emerged unscathed from the Midwest Region, earning a trip to the program's first Final Four since 1980.

The slipper still fits for NC State, as the Wolfpack's incredible run continues, becoming just the sixth 11 seed to make the Final Four. Dating back to the ACC Tournament, NC State has won nine straight elimination games, winning a difficult South Region in rather convincing fashion.

Here is everything that you need to know about tuning into the Final Four for the men's NCAA Tournament on the radio.

Final Four radio station

Moscow metro tour: architectural styles of the subway.

uconn basketball tour

Duration: 2 hours

Categories: Culture & History, Sightseeing

This metro tour of Russia’s capital and most populous city, Moscow, is your chance to get a unique insight into the beautiful and impressive architecture of the city's underground stations. Admire their marble walls and high ceilings representing Stalin's desire for glory after World War 2, and see first-hand how the interiors change with the rise of new political eras. Your guide will lead you through the complex network, which is one of the most heavily used rapid transit systems worldwide, with over two billion travelers in 2011.

Opened in 1935, Moscow’s underground system, now 190 miles (305 km) long with 185 stations, is today one the largest and most heavily used rapid transit systems in the world. On this Moscow metro tour, discover the impressive architecture of Moscow’s underground stations and learn how they reflect the Soviet era.

Getting around by metro, your local guide will take you through parts of Moscow’s infamous history. Stop at stations built during the time of the USSR (Soviet Union) that are praised as one of the most extravagant architectural projects from Stalin’s time. After World War 2, he was keen on establishing Stalinist architecture to represent his rising regime and a recognized empire. Learn how when his successor started the de-Stalinization of the former Soviet Union in 1953, the extravagancy of the architecture was toned down.

Discover how the unique character of each station reflected several different eras. While stations like Kievskaya and Slavyansky Bulvar have pompous halls and high stucco ceilings brimming with extravagant decorations, those built later, like Volzhskaya, are lightly adorned with sparse furnishings. Architect Alexey Dushkin and painter Alexander Deyneka were just two of the many artists who made these magnificent landmarks possible.

Revel in Moscow's glory days, as well as the years of scarcity, on this fascinating Moscow metro experience. Conclude your tour at one of the central stations in Moscow. If you're lucky, you may even find the secret entrance to the unconfirmed Metro-2, a parallel underground system used by the government -- a mystery which has neither been denied nor confirmed today.

The culture shock ratings considers the destination visited, transport used, activities undertaken and that "Wow, I'm really not at home now!" factor. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

This is the least confronting of our tour range. Transport used on the trip is either private or a very comfortable public option, the activities included are usually iconic sites and locations that are not all too confronting.

The tour can include a mix of private and public transport providing a level of comfort that is slightly below what you would experience at home. Sites visited are usually iconic sites, tours can also include market visits, visits to communities etc that provide the traveller with a fantastic insight into destination.

Expect to rough it for parts of this tour, whether it's a packed public bus where you are forced to stand, a visit to a local market, a local community, you are sure to have an experience that is very different from what you're used to at home.

The comforts of your home town and the environment you are used to are more of a rarity. Expect some challenging transport options, visits to local sites and areas that don't resemble anything at home.

You're out there in the global community! You are likely to be exposed to the elements, travel in whatever means of transport is available and basically take it as it comes, whatever comes! It can be tough.

Physical Rating

Our physical rating gives you an idea of how much huffing and puffing you can expect on the tour. While generalisations are always tricky, a summary of our gradings is as follows…

These Tours will provide you with some solid physical activity. Whether its bike riding, walking, trekking, kayaking or riding on public transport you will need to have a good level of fitness to enjoy this tour.

To help you choose the trip that's right for you, we've broken all of our trips down into four service levels. Measuring the comfort level of the accommodation and transport.
