A wine tasting event will be held inside the museum’s glass-walled room that offers a view of the family’s art collection. The tasting will include three wines that are most representative of the Antinori estates; Vigna sul Tetto Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, Cont’Ugo Bolgheri DOC and Bramasole Cortona DOC Syrah. For anyone with a passion for Italian wine, the Antinori winery tours in Tuscany are an experience not to be missed.

Antinori is among Italy’s best known brands of wine – synonymous with Chianti and the Super Tuscan wines , Antinori was founded in 1385, and is still owned and operated by the same family: the 25th and 26th Antinori generations, no less! Marquis Piero Antinori and his three daughters, Albiera, Allegra, and Alessia, manage the company, combining tradition and innovation. “Ancient roots play an important role in our work, but have never been a limit to our innovative spirit,” the Marquis likes to say.

Antinori’s most famous product is Tignanello , one of the first Super Tuscans, considered one of the world’s greatest wines. Other renowned wines produced by the Antinori family are Solaia, “the sunny one”, and Badia a Passignano.

Now imagine having the chance to taste these great wines right in the place where they are made, the beautiful Tuscan countryside just south of Florence: the heart of the Chianti region . You can make your dream a reality when you go on one of the following Antinori winery tours. You can even opt to stay at a fabulous resort run by the Antinori family.

Read on to pick among the Antinori winery tours most suited to you.

The Best Antinori Winery Tours

Winery visit and tasting at cantina antinori.

antinori winery tours

The perfect day trip from Florence to immerse yourself in the world of Chianti wine-making. Cantina Antinori was inaugurated in 2012 to showcase more than 600 years of wine-making history. As stated on the Cantina Antinori’s website, the winery “represents the Antinori family’s love and passion for the Chianti Classico hillsides and reflects the centuries-old bond that the Antinori family has with their ancestral territory.”

Set among olive groves, vineyards and oak trees, almost hidden from view, the cellar was designed by one of Italy’s leading architects, Marco Casamonti. Most of the facility is underground, constructed within the hillside, as a way to highlight the winery’s rootedness to the land around it. The 540,000 square-foot structure includes an auditorium, a museum, a restaurant and a wine shop. All you can see from outside is the restaurant terrace, which overlooks the vineyards.

On this Antinori winery tour, you’ll be led on a visit of the museum, which traces the family’s long and illustrious history and displays their private art collection that includes many portraits of ancestors, and of the wine cellars, a series of softly-lit, sleek caves and spectacular, airy rooms tucked deep inside the hill. At the end of the visit, delight your palate with a tasting of three of the best Antinori wines: Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva, Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva and Badia a Passignano.

Badia a Passignano and the Great Antinori Wines

antinori winery tours

This tour is ideal for those who want to enjoy a little history with their wine. In 1987, the Antinori’s bought the 325-hectare estate around the 4 th -century Vallombrosian abbey , founded by the archbishop of Florence 18 miles south of the Tuscan capital. Walking among the vineyards, you’ll learn about the vine-growing process; you’ll then visit the historic monastery and cellars. Vallombrosan monks still live here. They are known for their love of books, for promoting scientific research (Galileo taught there in 1587) and for their meticulous care of the surrounding fields, especially the cultivation of grapevines and reforestation.

The tour concludes with a delicious meal at the one-star Michelin Osteria di Passignano , accompanied, of course, by some of the best Antinori wines, such as Chianti Classico Riserva Badia a Passignano, Tignanello, Guado al Tasso, and Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino.

Private Cooking Class with Antinori’s Osteria di Passignano in Chianti

Why limit yourself to wine when you can enjoy it accompanied by tasty Tuscan food? And even learn a few tricks of Tuscan cuisine so that you can enjoy the experience again when you’re back home.

Your special teacher is the chef of the one-star Michelin Osteria di Passignano. The lesson takes place in the professional kitchen at Antinori’s Fonte de’ Medici Estate, where the stars of the Antinori’s wines, Tignanello and Solaia, are produced. While you learn how to prepare a four-course menu , you’ll enjoy tastings of Pecorino cheeses, balsamic vinegar and Amedei chocolate; at the end, you’ll receive a diploma and a complimentary recipe book to take home.

Enjoy the fruits of your labor afterwards, when you have lunch at Osteria di Passignano nearby, sampling the dishes you previously prepared, accompanied by Antinori wines.

Chianti Nord Wine Tour

A Hand holding a glass of red wine while looking at the color of the wine

This full-day tour from Florence is ideal for those who want an overview of the Chianti wine region, besides the Antinori winery.

The first stop is Greve in Chianti , the main town in the Chianti wine district, 19 miles south of Florence. Olive oil and wine production are the main agricultural activities here. After a tour of Greve, you’ll explore different vineyards of the area, including Casaloste, known for their fine Chianti Classico and Riserva wines, Antinori, and Setriolo, with visits to their cellars and tastings.

Staying in the heart of the Chianti region

Now that you’ve got an overview of the best Antinori winery tours, you may decide that you’d like to spend more than a day in this enchanting area of Tuscany. You can book a stay at Fonte de’ Medici , a resort run by the Antinori family. The Super Tuscans Tignanello and Solaia are made from vines grown around the Fonte de’ Medici estate. The resort consists of two restored medieval villages, with apartments, two swimming pools, a wellness center, all set amid olive and cypress trees. The ultimate Chianti experience.

Why the Antinori winery near Florence is a must-visit

Antinori winery near Florence is a must visit

If you’re visiting Florence, a visit to the Antinori nel Chianti Classico winery is a must, especially for those who appreciate wine. Antinori is one of the oldest companies in the world, with roots that can be traced back to 1385. While we were there in February, it was still cold and the vines were resting. But the Antinori estate was still beautiful, especially when we took the spiral staircase up to the rooftop garden. Here is why the Antinori winery near Florence is a must-visit.

antinori classico winery driveway

Antinori has huge historical significance in Italy’s wine industry, playing a significant role in the ‘ Super Tuscan ‘ revolution in the 70s. Back then, wine-makers were very tightly restricted in terms of the type and percentage of grape varietals that could be used in wine to get a certain accreditation, such as  DOC or DOCG . Some wine-makers decided to ignore this classification and make ‘Super Tuscans’, wines from Tuscany made with blends and wine-making techniques that were not based on the conditions for accreditation. Back then, these wines could not fetch a price as high as those with DOCG accreditation, but many of them proved to be excellent in their own way.

tignanello Antinori nel Chianti Classico

Antinori’s most famous wine – Tignanello – is made from grapes grown at a 47 hectare vineyard acquired in 1900. According to Wikipedia, the wine was produced for the first time in 1970 by Piero Antinori – whose father Nicolo had scandalised/revolutionised (depending on the time period) the Tuscany wine region by experimenting with French Bordeaux grape varietals. He was rewarded for challenging the status quo when Tignanello won several international awards. Since 1982, Tignanello has been made from approximately 85% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard lies at 350–400 metres above sea level, within the Santa Cristina estate (also known as Tenuta Tignanello). [It is a 10min drive from the Antinori nel Chianti Classico. See picture below.]

Location & Parking

Antinori was a short 30 min drive from our hotel B&B The Attico in Florence . It was also a 30 min drive from our lunch destination, the restaurant of  Dario Cecchini . If you are heading to Siena, it is a 40 min drive away. If you drive, you are able to park within the complex during winter. During other seasons, you can park at the carpark located across the winery.

Antinori nel Chianti Classico estate

Wine tours range from €35 – €160

There is an option of pre-booking a wine tour around this big estate. The basic tour costs €35, and if you wish to have lunch at the restaurant, it costs €160. We didn’t take this option as we were looking to try other types of wines other than the ones listed in the tour, including the Tignanello. We also had four other Brunello vineyards to visit the day after (more on that in a post to come).

Visit to the wine shop – you can do a tasting too

Solaia antinori super tuscan pioneer

Wine lovers could spend a day in Antinori’s wine shop – the selection was so diverse. The good thing is that we had a chance to taste the wines before buying them. We tried the Marchese Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva for €4 and the Tignanello for €8 – like the staff suggested, the Chianti Classico was the younger brother of the Tignanello. More fruit-forward, but less refined and elegant. That said, both were excellent and we bought a bottle of each – both to rest for a few years before enjoying. The Chianti Classico was about €30 while the Tignanello was €77. It was a reasonable price for the quality. At an admittedly touristy wine shop in Siena, the price about €120.

Rooftop vineyard and garden

vineyard Antinori nel Chianti Classico

After buying the wines, we climbed up the spiral staircase to see the garden. From an architectural standpoint, it was quite a feat because the vineyards integrated quite seamlessly into the facade of the main Antinori building.

The Travelling Squid’s Take

architecture Antinori nel Chianti Classico rooftop

If you’re into wine, Antinori makes for a great visit. The estate is very well-designed – architecturally, it gives the appearance of the building flowing into the hills, while being enveloped by the vines. I’m sure it will look beautiful in summer. A minor caveat is that this is not actually the vineyard where the grapes of their more acclaimed wines, such as Solaia and Tignanello are grown. That’ll be found further East, at Tenuta Tignanello. The brown tones are not intrusive and so are the contours of the building which folds into the hills. While we didn’t take the tour around the building, I was glad to view the rooftop garden and the hills of Tuscany. The wine prices were also much more reasonable than the ones we had seen in major cities.

Tuscan art of every kind is celebrated at the Antinori family’s elegant headquarters, from the architecture slipping it surreptitiously into the hillside to the museum space hosting historical and contemporary exhibitions; local produce goes into rustically-inspired but polished dishes at the Rinuccio 1180 restaurant (named after the family’s first recorded winemaker) and watch the art of winemaking itself in the advanced and sustainable gravitational facility – opened in 2012, it marks the next chapter in a 26-generation history. • About the Winery

Tenuta Tignanello by Antinori

Discover the winery that produced the world’s number one wine in the italian history, the prestigious history of antinori family’s wine business.

The Tenuta Tignanello estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, nestled between the gently rolling hillsides of the Greve and Pesa river valleys, just 30 km from Florence. Extending over 319 hectares of the area of which about 130 hectares are dedicated to the vines, including the estate’s prized vineyards- Tignanello and Solaia from which the wines of Marchesi Antinori are made. The estate with its Renaissance villa was built on the foundations of an estate dating back to 1346 and has belonged to the Antinori family since 1850. Marchesi Piero Antinori was the founder of this grand estate who represented the 26th generation of his family to oversee their family production of wines.

From Experimentation of Grapes to the Production of Highest Quality Wines

Throughout the 1970s, the Antinori family had been experimenting with grape varietals, and the estate of Tenuta Tignanello that we know of today was used as a laboratory to carry out the new viticultural research and development of those grape varieties. Antinori family experimented with the non-native grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc while introducing new winemaking techniques, including barrique aging and stainless steel vat fermentation. The family reached their milestone in 1971 with their first release of the Tignanello wine and their second release in 1978 with Solaia. These two wines – Tignanello and Solaia produced from their vineyards are internationally recognized by critics as the most influential wines in the history of Italian viticulture. Furthermore, in 1997 the Wine Spectator also named Solaia as the world’s number one wine- the first Italian wine in history to do so.

The Best Expressions of the Terroirs

The vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello in the hills are composed of soils of Pliocene origin which are rich in Galestro and Alberese rocks, the local names for limestone and slate. The land sits at an altitude of 350 to 400 meters above sea level that is exposed to remarkable thermal excursions between day and night. All these factors are ideal for the full maturation of the cultivated varieties; the indigenous Sangiovese and untraditional varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, to bring out their unique properties in the wine. The land is also distributed to small parcels of Malvasia and Trebbiano for Vinsanto production as well as 37 hectares of olive groves.

Visit the Antinori vineyards and winery – a wine tasting in Chianti

Dutch

Latest update: 27 June 2023

You have wine tours, and then you have an Antinori wine tour. This Italian winery in the Chianti region of Tuscany offers a very professional wine tour. From reception to departure, a visit to the Antinory winery and vineyards is immaculate. Maybe even a little too perfect for my taste. So let’s take you on a visit to the Antinori winery and vineyards.

What do you want to know more about?

A grand Antinori welcome

A huge parking lot awaits across the street from Antinori’s winery. Visitors to the Antinori winery can park their car for free to be driven up the hill in a van. That short drive alone is impressive: this is not a simple dirt road to a small-scale winegrower. Instead, you enter a network of tunnels to a well-organized wine company, where I report to a counter (which could just as easily have been a hotel counter) for my tour. Before the tour starts, we marvel at the architecture and the Antinori vineyards. The Antinori family is pretty fortunate, I dare say.

visit Antinori winery

The allure of the Antinori winery

The Antinori’s have immersed themselves in wine for over 600 years. The knowledge and passion are passed on from generation to generation. Not that long ago, the family opened the current building: a mega-sized winery with extraordinary architecture amidst the vineyards. In the opening video of the tour, Mr. Antinori admits that it cost a lot of money and that it probably wasn’t the most commercially sound decision. But the family was eager to open the winery and vineyard to the public. And if you do open the winery and vineyards up, then why not go all the way, right?

The driveway of Winery Antinori Chianti

Eco-friendly winery in Chianti

The idea is that the winery blends into its surroundings, almost invisible. The latter did not quite work out; it is much too large and impressive. The building is eco-friendly, hence choosing many natural materials (terracotta, wood, glass) and building underground. That’s a smart choice because it eliminates the need for air conditioning to cool the space where the wines ferment and rest.

Tip! Want to discover more wineries? Learn where you can enjoy fantastic wine in Tuscany .

The Antinori wine empire

The winery in Chianti, in San Casciano in Val di Pesa, is just one of the sites of the Antinori group. The family owns many vineyards across the country, so they don’t just make Chianti wines. The Chianti grapes are mainly grown on the hill here though: the Sangiovese.

A visit to the Antinori winery: what can you expect?

The tour starts with a movie in a gigantic cinema hall. The film is about the family and the construction of the building that is now the Antinori winery. A guide then takes the group to some works of art from the family’s private collection. A pretty impressive collection: for example, you’ll find a replica of Leonardo Da Vinci’s wine crusher.

Silence before the harvest season

The next stop of the tour is the winery itself. The temperature drops considerably because we are 20 meters underground. We see the huge barrels, the perfectly straight-aligned wine barrels… It’s like a museum! The guide assures us that it is a very different scene during the harvest. Chaos and bustle. If you want to visit the Antinori winery during that period, you must book well in advance.

Wine in barrels at Antinori

Italian countryside on point

We briefly take a look at the Antinori vineyard and admire the building. On the edge of the vineyard is a beautiful restaurant – the Antinori family owns it, of course. It’s the kind of restaurant you can’t describe any other way than typical Italian in the countryside, including checkered tablecloths and shady spots. Restaurant Rinuccio 1190 is on the roof of the winery. But because the winery is an architectural masterpiece, the rooftop spills over into the Antinori vineyards, so it doesn’t feel like a roof at all.

Restaurant Rinuccio 1190

Wine tasting at Antinori

The wine tour at Antinori ends with wine. What else?! We taste three different Antinori wines. Afterward, there is the possibility of stocking up on wine. It all feels a bit sterile, I must say. We stand at a high U-shaped table with the guide in the middle, and people speak to each other in whispers. I wish the wine tasting at Antinori was a little more fun and easygoing.

Wine tasting at Antinori winery

So is the Antinori wine tasting tour a MUST-visit when in Tuscany? Yes, if you are also interested in the Antinori family and the remarkable building. No, if you come mainly for the wines. I didn’t think the wine tasting was a memorable experience, a bit too sterile.

By the way, you can order an Antinori wine at Albert Heijn in the Netherlands . To taste beforehand or to enjoy after your visit. 🙂

Visit Antinori winery and vineyard?

Antinori offers several wine tastings and tours. The one I did cost €45. Consult the website to see which winery tour you like and book in advance. If you also want to have lunch or dinner in the restaurant, reserve ahead. Especially in high season.

Can’t get enough of wine tastings? I understand! Read my other tips for wine tastings in Chianti .

Super Tuscans have enjoyed decades of success in the US and Europe, increasing interest in the Far East and Hong Kong markets.

While Solaia (3,000-7,000 cases annually) is slightly pricier than Tignanello (20,000-30,000 cases,) both of these terrific wines have become hot investment targets over the years. Despite the higher production of Tignanello, this Super Tuscan sells out within days due to the high demand.

Tignanello offers more value than other Super Tuscan wines. It regularly gets high critic scores, and with the continued rise in quality, it is the perfect addition to any wine investment portfolio .

Additionally, according to the Tignanello (Liv-Ex) index, it saw a 27% price increase in 2017, making it one of the best-performing investment wines in the market. Older vintages continue to perform well -  the 1971 Tignanello had a 108% increase in price, going from $312 in 2020 to $649 in 2022.

Solaia is also known for consistently receiving high scores from wine critics, with the 2015 vintage being rewarded a perfect 100 by Robert Parker and 98 points by the Wine Spectator.

Solaia is known to age gracefully in the cellar for up to 30 years, while its price increases steadily over time. The 1995 Solaia price grew by 44%, from $244 in 2020 to $350 in 2022.

In 2020, Antinori was the only Italian wine producer with two wines featured on the prestigious Liv-Ex Power 100 list.

No doubt, getting your hands on one of these Super Tuscans will add immense value to your wine portfolio.

marchesi-antinori-4.jpg

This 47-hectare vineyard, also known as Tenuta Tignanello, is found within the Santa Cristina estate, and it’s named after its most famous wine.

Giacomo Tachis is in charge of producing the great Tignanello Super Tuscan . The wine is a blend of Sangiovese (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), and the Cabernet Franc (5%) grape variety.

The grape varieties from the Tenuta Tignanello estate are also used to produce the Marchese Antinori Riserva.

marchesi-antinori-5.jpg

Solaia (meaning “The Sunny One”) is in the Mercatale Val di Pesa zone of the Chianti Classico region. Fruit not used for the Grand Vin goes into the making of Chianti Classico Riserva, IGT Villa Antinori, and Tenute del Marchese.

Solaia is crafted by the Antinori winemaker Renzo Cotarella since 1990. This red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Cabernet Franc (5%), and Sangiovese (20%).

3. Peppoli Estate

marchesi-antinori-6.jpg

Over 55 hectares of this 100-hectare estate are under vine. The grape varieties harvested from this estate produce a fruity Peppoli Chianti Classico.

This gorgeous estate also has 26 hectares of olive groves, used to produce the popular Peppoli Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

4. Badia a Passignano

marchesi-antinori-7.jpg

Around 50% of this 325-hectare Antinori estate is planted with the Sangiovese grape variety (originally from the Tignanello vineyard), and the remaining has Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah vines.

The fruit is used to make Badia a Passignano and another Sangiovese wine, Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva.

5. Guado al Tasso

marchesi-antinori-8.jpg

Only a third of Tenuta Guado Al Tasso in the Bolgheri appellation is growing vines (Sangiovese, Syrah , Petit Verdot, and Merlot.) These Bolgheri grapes are used to craft the Scalabrone Rose, Guado al Tasso, Vermentino, Il Bruciato, and the lesser known Guado al Tasso Matarocchio.

6. Pian delle Vigne

marchesi-antinori-9.jpg

The Pian delle Vigne estate in Montalcino has over 65 hectares under vine. The Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva are produced here.

This vineyard also produces the fruit for the Grappa Riserva di Brunello di Montalcino, Pian delle Vigne, and Rosso di Montalcino DOC.

7. Castello Della Sala

marchesi-antinori-10.jpg

The Castello Della Sala vineyard is situated in Umbria. This 160-hectare vineyard is planted with Sauvignon Blanc and other white grape varieties. The vineyard produces the Campogrande, Orvieto Classico, Pinot Nero, Casasole, the Cervaro Della Sala, and the sweet Muffato Della Sala wine labels.

8. Antica Napa Valley

marchesi-antinori-11.jpg

The Antica wine estate is located in Napa Valley, California. This 242-hectare vineyard in Atlas Peak grows Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc , Pinot Noir , and the white grape varietals Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc .

9. Other Vineyard Estates

The Antinori family also owns:

  • Fattoria Aldobrandesca (Etruscan vineyard)
  • Monteloro winery (Florence)
  • La Braccesca winery (producing Vigneto Santa Pia, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano La Braccesca, Sabazio, and the Bramasole and Achelo Syrahs)

Next, let’s take a look at the winery’s rich history.

marchesi-antinori-2.jpg

This Italian wine company started when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the Florentine Winemakers Guild (Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri) in the 14th century.

The Antinori family bought the Piazza Antinori (Palazzo Antinori) in Florence in 1506 and gained the title of Marquis in the 18th century.

In 1900, Marchese Piero Antinori purchased 47 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti Classico region.

In 1924, Marchese Niccolò Antinori, son of Piero, bought properties including Santa Cristina and Castello della Sala (Umbria.)

After Marchese Niccolò Antinori retired in 1966, his son started experimenting with early harvesting of white grape varietals and malolactic fermentation of their red wines.

Winemaker Giacomo Tachis joined Antinori in 1961. He introduced non-indigenous grapes and new winemaking techniques, including malolactic fermentation and bottle aging.

In 1974, Antinori launched the first vintage of Tignanello. Following the success of this red wine, Antinori launched Solaia in 1978 from grape varietals from a neighboring vineyard.

The Antinori family started investing in wineries across the globe. The most notable ones are the Atlas Peak winery in Napa Valley (1985) and Badia a Passignano (1987.)

They also expanded the firm to Apulia, Piedmont, and forged joint ventures in Hungary, Bataapati, Chile (Maipo Valley), Romania, Malta, and the USA (Antica Napa Valley, Stag’s Leap, and Col Solare.)

Cantinetta Antinori

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

I was there 4 years ago, nothing to say the service was perfect I had the veal filet with foie gras spectacular. All perfect I was very happy to be back still a very high level restaurant with details in quality.

antinori vineyard tours

Thank you so much for your highest appriciacion! Hope to see you again!

we had a fantastic meal at Cantinetta Antinori, i think is one of the best restaurant in Moscow, the food quality is spectacular, great service, all very kind and friendly, good atmosphere, we just felt very well and as soon as we going back to... Moscow we already know where to have the best dinner....i think you only need to check your phone number on this web site cause it's wrong...thanks Cantinetta Antinori More

It is a tipical italian restaurant, very familiar. It has a very braod menu, all italian food. The dishes we tasted were excelent and the service correct

Thank you for your feedback!

This has always been one of the best Moscow's restaurants. I have not been there for some 1.5 years. What a change! In everything. Food - very everage. The recommended "beef tenderloin" turned out to be as hard to chew up as a chewing gum.... The green salad looked as if it was harvested a couple days ago. Drinks - very poor. One of our guests asked for beer. The waiter said they had NO draft beer. I felt ashamed of having taken the guest to such a restaurant. The waiter was not ashamed at all. Average wines prices start with 300 USD the cheapest (and the worst) being 70 USD. Service - absolutely unqualified. Pouring wine from the right side and dropping it all over the white tablecloth can not be considered to be good service anywhere. Bringing main course before the starter is finished is something unbelievable even in a "local" restaurant. This is proclaimed as a "top" one. I do not mention those small things that are considered to be the trade mark of any good restaurant: helping clients with the chairs and serviettes, giving recommendations according the current preference, not the price More

Very good good and beautiful cosy place. A special mention to the service , from the entrance greeting, the garde robe man to the waiters, everybody is fantastic, kind and extraordinary professional! Make you feel very welcome and special!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Hope to see you soon.

Expectations were high, the restaurant was highly recommended by friends, so it was disappointing to get a cold and next to tasteless soup from the specialty mushroom season menu. It was immediately replaced by a hot, but alas still tasteless soup, so not a good... start. The pasta mains was good, and the dessert fantastic, so all in all a decent evening in good company. But with near top prices in Moscow, i did expect more. More

Please Mr Novikov, change something in this restaurant, it the worst we tried in your panel and really a bad one. Completly out of your usual scope. First prices are out of the market for an italian restaurant, very too much expensive for what we... have in the plate. I don’t speak about the menu, complicated, with many price for 100g... and not very understandable....confusing... Second, cooking is not terrible, largely inferior with some other italian restaurant in Moscow. Even the pizza, paid more than 1500 rub, is ultra basic, ... same level than chocolanidtza... I don’t speak about dessert : they are bad. A dessert bought in Auchan is better.... Service is done, but no human empathy or sympathy... They are robots.... so far from italian style ... It is a pity because the place is beautiful. Anyway, I am not the only one to think like that : it was a saturday night ... and the restaurant was empty....bad signal. More

Came to this Italian restaurant on a date and found out that it is anything but a "cantinetta" (small cellar): crowded, loud, with annoying party music coming from a corporate event upstairs (or downstairs). Some choices on the menu were unavailable (how can be unavailable... a risotto in a Italian restaurant, finished the rice? If you tell me what ingredient is missing we can adapt the recipe, in case you have a cook in the kitchen). Just for the records, my company (alas) is trying to eat vegan, but could not find any choices, and that after a long conversation in Russian. I had tortelli (3 tortelli) with unheard of artichoke liquid sauce and dough stuffed with some creamy perhaps mushrooms. Edible. My partner had a (huge) burrata, which I didn't try. At sight looking tasty, perhaps not a burrata though. My strudel dessert was undoubtedly good. Plenty of breads, grissini, focacce, of average quality, especially the specifically ordered focaccia texture and temperature. I keep my wine tasting for my italian months, so I just highlight the price of my partner non-alcoholic drink (about 26 euros), as an indicator of what Moscow (not this specific restaurant) requires to massage the customer ego in a average restaurant. As a summary, I should congratulate the management for finding the formula of fully satisfying the local customers, a marketing proposition which includes the overpricing that the satisfied local client will proudly accept. Tuscany is another world, right grandma? More

antinori vineyard tours

I used to invite my business partners to Cantinenta Antinori in Moscow several times a year in the past. It was always a lovely evening with excellent Itallian food and good service. This time (August 13, 2017) we were very disapponited. The food was not... that good (my octopus was overfried as well as the fish of my friend) and the service was surprisingly bad for such an expensive restaurant. Neither the waitress, nor sommelier was smiling, the whole service was very cold and unfriendly. Besides music was playing too loud and it was difficult to talk. Its a pity the restaurant changed to worse. However the location in the center of Moscow and interior design are still very good. More

Elegant, great service and fantastic Italian food when you want something extra nice! A favourite in Moscow!

It's one of the best italian restaurants in the world (I have been to many, thus can trust my opinion on that)!! In Moscow certainly the best! Great selection of wines, food - incredibly delicious. Romantic atmosphere!

The place with a cosy atmosphere and best Italian cuisine and pasta in Moscow. Located in a nice old building. During summer it's better to sit outside, thus they have wonderful terrace.

The good: Delicious food. I had the quail salad and tomatoe pasta. The quail was to frozen beforehand, it was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The tomatoe sauce was freshly made in house, as was the pasta. I've spent a month in Italy and this sauce... rivaled any restaurant I'm Tuscany for its true authentic taste. The not so good: Wait staff not as experienced as I expected for such a high end restaurant that charges 800 rubles($20) for a bottle of water. Didn't ask once if the food was alright. Very little English wasn't a big deal. Overall: The quality of the food, the setting, and the delicious lava cake made it all worth it, every penny. If you can afford to splurge a bit, go for it. My girlfriend and I loved it. More

Fresh and good quality products. The burrata is perfect! Pleasant atmosphere . Good selection of Italian wine maybe a little expensive for italians!

Had a very forgettable meal at CA last night (except for the pricetag). The wine (approx. $125) was barely acceptable and would not pass for table wine in Italy. The pasta starter was bland and luke warm. My wife wanted to order the Branzino fish... -- $20/100 grams, she thought she could get 2-3 grams. The waiter said, no, the minimum was about 6 grams as it comes as a whole fish. She switched to Tuna ($55) which was tough and looked like it had been frozen for about 2 weeks. I had tagliata steak ($65) which was overcooked and probably should have been sent back. The best part of the meal actually was the small complementary plate of cookies. The setting was lovely, we were outside and the weather was very agreeable. But other than that there is no way I could recommend this place for what they charge. There are other Italian restaurants in Moscow that are better food and value (example is Akademie, 2 locations). More
