Experience our  2 day Great Ocean Road Grampians Tour  travelling through spectacular  Great Otway National Park  and rugged bushlands of the  Grampians National Par k, returning to Melbourne in the early evening of day two. Our 2-Day Great Ocean Road and Grampians Tour is an overnight showcase of the must-see  highlights of Victoria’s  best destinations. Combining these destinations into one tour will enable you to extend your time at each highlight to maximize your experience. Your accommodation is situated deep within the  Grampians National Park  at Halls Gap Surrounded by bushland and stunning mountain landscapes.

Enjoy the stunning scenery of the Great Ocean Road and discover the remarkable rock formations of the iconic 12 Apostles. Learn about the tragic tale of the shipwreck coast, visit the hidden beach of Loch Ard Gorge and stop along the way to search for native Australian wildlife. You will discover some of the world’s tallest trees as you explore the ancient and beautiful rainforest of the Great Otway National Park.

On the second day wake up to amazing views and kangaroos of the Grampians National Park, an area rich in Aboriginal culture and set in a beautiful and rugged landscape.  The Grampians bushland is surrounded by an abundance of Australian flora and fauna and the hiking trails and waterfalls will surely leave a lasting impression! After an incredible 2 days exploring the coastline and mountain ranges, we make our way back to Melbourne arriving in town around 5:30pm.

Our Contract

All bookings are made with  Get Lost Travel Pty Ltd (ABN 94 143 929 962)  (us/we). By booking a trip with us you have agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions set out in these booking conditions. Your booking will be accepted by us on this basis. The services to be provided are those referred to in your booking confirmation and/or invoice. Accredited Bus Number: AC003612.

Dates and itineraries are valid until 31 March 2024, from 1 January 2022 dates and itineraries are indicative only.

Standard Conditions

Any references to ‘GLT’, ‘we’, ‘our’ and ‘us’ equates  Get Lost Travel Pty Ltd , which applies to the following GLT brands and entities below: Autopia Tours, Wildlife Tours Australia , Walking Country, Wayoutback Australian Safaris, Australian Bus Charters & Tailormade Touring, Boutique Touring Company and Geelong & Bellarine Tours.

Please take the time to read and understand the conditions of booking set out below prior to booking a trip with us. We strongly recommend that you also read the information relating to your product or service prior to booking to ensure that you understand the itinerary, style and physical demands of the tour you are undertaking. GLT will not be held responsible for passengers failing to familiarise themselves with the booking terms and conditions.

Although every effort is made, GLT shall not be liable for any illness, injury, damages, loss, delay or failure to join the tour that may occur due to factors beyond our control. We highly recommend all passengers have travel insurance with COVID-19 coverage, should you have to cancel a trip at the last minute.

GLT reserves the right to modify routes or itineraries, vehicle types, fares, days of operation, or even cancel tours when unforeseen circumstances arise. This is especially true during seasonal weather fluctuations and/or during park closures due to traditional landowner ceremonies. Other accredited tour operators may be used from time to time on some tours. 

Fares are shown in Australian Currency and are correct at time of printing but are subject to change. 

Traveller Information

For us to confirm your travel arrangements, you must provide all requested details at the time of booking. Your full name, contact details, email address, nationality, or Australian postcode and any pre-existing medical conditions you have which may affect your ability to complete your travel arrangements. Booking Terms and Conditions

Customer Responsible for Own Vaccination and Testing

The customer shall comply with all Government (Federal, State and Territory) COVID entry restrictions and vaccination guidelines or testing requirements for entry into Australia and/or at the time of travel for tour and transport services. 

Where the customer is not vaccinated and/or not able to show a negative RAT test prior to departure, the customer will forfeit any and all monies paid and GLT holds the right to refuse boarding. 

Where the customer cancels due to travel restrictions other than vaccination and/or testing requirements, the operator shall have the discretion to

• offer a refund or credit voucher (to be used at a later time); or
• to forfeit any and all monies paid by the customer.

For the purposes of (a), the operator reserves the right to withhold such a reasonable sum to cover administrative expenses and other losses, dependent on when notice of cancellation is given by the customer.

Customers Responsible for Health & Safety on board Short Break / Extended Trips

In the unlikely event that a guest returns a positive test whilst on tour, some accommodation suppliers may require proof of a negative result before entering the property. Multi-day travelers are strongly advised to bring along some RAT tests as some remote regions have limited access to these tests.

Guests are responsible for all COVID-related relocation expenses should they need to leave the trip midway. There will be no financial reimbursement for any aspects of the tour that guests do not participate in if they choose to depart early.

It is recommended by the Department of Health that commercial passenger vehicle drivers and passengers wear fitted face masks whilst in transit to minimise the spread of the virus. This is no longer mandatory.  

Cancellations & Refund Policy

Cancellation by the Traveller

We understand that travel plans can sometimes change, if you cancel some or all portions of your booking the cancellation terms set out below will apply. A cancellation will only take effect when we receive written confirmation that you have sent to your relevant booking agent notifying them of your cancellation. 

If you wish to change or cancel a trip:

(a) Flexible Date Changes – unlimited supply of free date changes available up until 7-days prior to departure; or

(b) 2 to 7-days prior to departure:

• we will hold 100% of the deposit paid by you as a credit voucher, valid for redemption within 3-years from date of purchase
• any credit voucher resulting from a cancellation may be applied towards any other tour operated by GLT within Australia; or

(c) 8-days or more prior to departure,

• we will refund balance paid by you in connection to your booking less any unrecoverable costs; or

(d) failure to board on tour or cancelled within 2-days/48-hrs will result in full fare forfeiture of the ticket price and not eligible for a refund; or

Short Break / Extended Trips

(a) Flexible Date Changes – unlimited supply of free date changes available up until 30-days prior to departure; or

(b) 14 to 30-days prior to departure:

• we will hold 100% of monies paid by you as credit voucher, valid for redemption within 3-years from date of purchase

(c) 31-days or more prior to departure,

(d) failure to board on tour or cancelled within 14-days will result in full fare forfeiture of the ticket price and not eligible for a refund; or

Any credit travel voucher resulting from a cancellation under (Cancellation by the Traveller) has an expiry date of 3 years and may be applied towards any other available trip offered by us. This credit is transferable however not redeemable for cash.

Note different cancellation conditions may apply if/when booked through third party agents, your travel consultant will advise if differences apply. We strongly advise you to take out cancellation insurance at the time of booking. If you leave a trip for any reason after it has commenced, we are not obliged to make any refunds for unused services. If you fail to join a trip, join it after departure, or leave it prior to its completion, no refund will be made or compensation for departure costs incurred. The above cancellation terms are less any unrecoverable costs by accommodation providers, travel agents, third-party affiliates and supplier fees.

Cancellation by the Operator

Our trips are guaranteed to depart once they have one fully paid traveller onboard, unless minimum group size specifically states otherwise (refer to Product Fact Sheets) or in the event of a Force Majeure resulting in the cancellation of a trip.

We may cancel a trip at any time up to 7-days (Day Trips) and 30-days (Short-Break / Extended Tours) before departure. Alternatively, we do have the right to cancel a trip at any time prior to departure if, due to terrorism, natural disasters, extreme conditions, political instability or other external events occur that deem it not viable for us to operate the planned itinerary.

Standard Cancellation

If we cancel your trip, we can offer you a choice of:

(a) a 100% reimbursement of monies paid for your trip

(b) transfer amounts paid to an alternative departure date or tour operated by GLT; or

(c) issued with a credit travel voucher to the amount paid for your trip, valid for 3-years

Force Majeure Cancellation

If a trip is cancelled due to a ‘Force Majeure Event’, we can offer you a choice of:

(a) a 100% credit voucher of monies paid for your trip; or

(b) a refund minus unrecoverable costs.

If the cancellation due to a ‘Force Majeure Event’ occurs after a trip has commenced, we can offer you a choice of a pro-rata:

(a) 110% credit voucher for the days that remain on your trip; or

(b) refund minus unrecoverable costs of the days that remain on your trip.

Any credit travel voucher resulting from a cancellation as mentioned in (Cancellation by the Traveller):

• 3-year expiry date and may be applied towards any other available trip offered by GLT;
• are not redeemable for cash;
• excludes flights or insurance as they will have their own booking conditions

In circumstances where the cancellation is due to external events outside our reasonable control, refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs. We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking including but not limited to visas, vaccinations, travel insurance excess or non-refundable flights.

A  “Force Majeure Event”  includes but is not limited to: acts of God; war; civil commotion; riot; blockade or embargo; fire; explosion; breakdown; union dispute; earthquake; epidemic, pandemic or other health emergency; flood; windstorm or other extreme weather event; lack or failure of courses of supply; passage of any law, order, proclamation, regulation, ordinance, demand, requisition or requirement or any other act of any government authority, beyond the reasonable control of the parties, whether or not foreseeable, which would make it dangerous or not viable for a trip to commence or continue .

Acceptance of Risk

Australia is home to many dangerous creatures, extreme weather conditions, and varied terrain. Experiencing these dangers while camping, hiking, or passing time outside may increase your personal risk. Safety is our number one priority and our guides are highly trained to ensure passenger safety at all times. Get Lost Travel Pty Ltd cannot accept responsibility for any loss, injury or accident caused by passengers onboard our tours.

Travel Insurance

We recommend all guests have travel insurance and should be taken out at the time of booking prior to tour departure. Your travel insurance must provide cover against personal accident  death, 24/7 medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of US$200 000 for each of the categories of cover.  

We also strongly recommend it covers cancellation curtailment, COVID-19 cover, personal liability and loss of luggage and personal effects.  If you have travel insurance connected to your credit card or bank account please ensure you have details of the participating insurer, the insurance policy number and emergency contact number with you rather than the bank’s name and credit card details.

Alcohol Policy

Alcohol is not permitted on board our vehicles. We reserve the right to refuse re-entry if passengers are overly intoxicated, and propose a threat to other passengers, our driver or vehicle. We also reserve the right to advise at any time prior to departure and whilst in operation, that alcohol is no longer permitted. The legal drinking age in Australia is 18 years old, photo ID is required.

Child Policy (Age Requirements)

Our child and infant policy and pricing does vary depending on the trip; this is due to the diversity in our product range. All travellers under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.

Short Break & Extended Trips (age restrictions) – 6 to 17 years old

Trips that include accommodation nights within the itinerary:

• Basic Dormitory Share – fares apply to Adults 18+ over
• Standard Private Double/Twin Room – fares apply to Adults and/or Child
• Private Single Room – fares apply to Adults 18+ over

Children aged between 6 to 17 years old are required to stay in private rooms. Not suitable for infants or children 5 years and under.

Prices and surcharges

Our tour prices are subject to variable and seasonal pricing, both of which are standard practice within the travel industry. This means our tour prices may vary at any time in accordance with demand, market conditions and availability. It is likely that different passengers on the same trip have been charged different prices. Your best option if you like the price you see is to book at that time. Any reduced pricing or discounts that may become available after you have paid your will not apply. If you wish to cancel your booking to take advantage of a cheaper price, full cancellation conditions apply as set out below in (Cancellation by the Traveller). The most up to date pricing is available on our  websites . Please note that a surcharge may be applied to a purchase made by credit card.

Luggage Policy

To maximise the comfort of your journey no luggage storage facilities are provided on our (Day Trips): It is recommended you bring a small day pack no bigger than 5-7kg. (Short-Break / Extended Tours): Maximum baggage allowance per person is 15-20kg preferably a soft travelling pack. 

Excessive amounts of luggage may incur a surcharge fee. Inappropriate luggage presented on the day of departure such as surfboards, bikes and an excessive amount of luggage may result in refusal to board unless previously arranged. Other: mobility scooters, wheelchairs, pushers, prams, walking frames and other walking aids cannot be stored safely on our vehicles, please advise prior to booking if there are any of these aids required.

Pick-up & Drop-offs

GLT may offer complimentary inner-city pick-up and drop-off services to selected accommodation providers. Please note it is the customer’s responsibility to be waiting out the front of your selected pickup location (accommodation provider) at least 10 minutes before departure. Failure to wait out the front of your selected location may result in the tour guide being unable to locate you causing failure to load. GLT cannot be held responsible for passengers who fail to load.

Special Requirements

Please notify the Get Lost Travel group with any dietary requirements, food allergies and/or medical conditions at the time of booking or 7 days prior to tour departure. Limited food options are available on extended tours, forward planning is required to ensure we can accommodate but not guaranteed.

Traditional Owners

Autopia Tours would like to begin by paying our respects to the traditional owners of this country, with specific acknowledgement to the Wurundjeri people. Please be conscious and respectful of the sensitivities of indigenous culture and the spiritual connection they have with the land at all times.

Wildlife Encounters

The natural behaviours of wildlife are to be respected and not interfered with. When viewing wildlife, people should take care to avoid rapid or sudden movements, which could frighten the animal, and should keep noise to a minimum and refrain from touching, petting or feeding all wildlife including birds. Contact with people can introduce diseases to wildlife and can cause them to become aggressive.

Wildlife should not be handled or fed, unless by certified wildlife handlers. Feeding wildlife can alter their natural foraging behaviour and can lead to disease or illness through contact with people and the introduction of foods that are harmful to their digestive system. Feeding wildlife can also cause them to become aggressive toward people.

Wildlife that appears to be in distress, injured or in danger should be reported immediately to the appropriate authority, such as your Guide/Tour Leader, a National Park Ranger or Visitor Centre Staff.

Protecting our National Parks

People should remain on designated walking tracks, behind safety barriers/fences and follow all directions given by the guide/tour leader. Venturing off these can alter fragile ecosystems and can harm wildlife shelters and native vegetation. There are other dangers to be aware of too, such as cliff edges, unstable rock formations, overhanging tree branches and slippery ground cover. Remaining on tracks ensures safe visitation for guests and the environment.

No flora or fauna should be removed from their natural setting. This includes dead wood, fallen leaves, flowers and so forth, as they form part of the ecosystem of the region and their removal could cause a disturbance.

Waste Management

All buses are fitted with waste bins. No organic waste should be disposed of onto the ground. Although organic, items such as banana peels, apple cores, bread and other food scraps, are not natural/native to the region and can introduce pest species, diseases or harm to wildlife if found and eaten. We recommend all passengers bring a water bottle with you on our Grampians Tour. Purchasing bottled water contributes large amounts of plastic into the landfill. Therefore, we ask guests to bring their own bottle, as there is access to water refill stations available on our vehicles. Please ensure you stay hydrated throughout the tour to reduce the risk of sun exposure and dehydration.

All our guides carry a current Level 2 First Aid certificate. Please report any accident or illness to your tour guide. We recommend anyone with an existing medical condition to carry their medication with them on tour and to notify their tour guide at the beginning of the tour.

If you are a smoker! We ask you to refrain from smoking whilst in the company of other passengers and limit it to designated smoking areas. Smoking is not permitted on any of our vehicles, or in any type of accommodation including permanent campsites. We make frequent ‘comfort stops’ to allow free time for guests but cannot guaranteed smoke breaks. Please ensure you dispose of your cigarette butt responsibly and appropriately.

Know before you book

What is a suitable age for this tour?

Child policy for this tour is 6 years old and over, due to the nature of this tour, it’s not suitable for infants or children 5 years and under. Children aged between 6 to 17 years old are required to stay in standard private accommodation and must be accompanied by a legal guardian or adult.

How fit do I need to be for this tour?

A minimum moderate level of fitness is required to complete the walks. Walks can be up to 2km in length, often over steep and rocky sections and in direct sunlight. Walks will be at the guide’s discretion to ensure the safety of guests. 

Do you cater to special dietary requirements?

Yes, please notify us if you have any dietary requirements or medical conditions at the time of booking, or at least a few days prior to departure, that way we can make any necessary arrangements.

What type of food do we eat on tour?

Most of the meals are prepared by our tour guides with basic camping-style food options and on occasions, they will be provided by our accommodation providers onsite. Guests are asked to participate in the preparation of meals, clean-up, and vehicle unpacking/loading as it’s a great way to get to know and connect with your fellow travellers.

Where do we stay overnight?

Given the limited accommodation options in these regions, on occasions, we need to split our group across different properties based on the room fare type requirements. Guests booking a Basic Dorm Bed are paired with other solo travelers in a room, where possible of the same gender but not guaranteed. Here is a list of the properties we use, or a similar alternative.

Are National Park fees included in the tour cost?

Autopia Tours includes National Parks fees within the tour price, this covers our guests for 3 x National Parks which include Grampians National Park, Great Otway National Park, and Port Campbell National Park. Park Passes are not available for purchase by guests not traveling onboard our tours.

What kind of vehicle do we travel in for this Melbourne to Adelaide tour?

We use 24-seater Mitsubishi Rosa mini-buses for this trip, this vehicle makes moving people easy, safe, and comfortable. With high back seats and large windows for unobstructed views. The maximum number of passengers we carry on this 2- Day tour is 23 people, with a minimum requirement of 8 people to guarantee the departure.

How much luggage can I bring on tour?

We ask that guests traveling on short breaks/ extended tours bring small soft overnight bags and hand luggage only as we have limited storage onboard our vehicles. Large suitcases and oversized luggage can be left at your hotel whilst you are on tour. This tour is not suitable for anyone who requires the use of a mobility aid, wheelchair, walker, and or stroller.

Do I require travel insurance in Australia?

It is recommended that all passengers have personal travel insurance, given we’re actively exploring remote parts of the west coast of Australia with limited access to health professionals in the event of sickness or injury.  Autopia Tours is not authorised to provide information on the type of plan or policy options available. This can be provided by an accredited local travel agent or from your preferred insurance company.

What is the temperature like in Victoria?

The weather in Victoria is unpredictable and can fluctuate regularly. Please ensure you have checked the average temperatures for the time of year you are travelling and have packed adequate clothing. In the event of rain or inclement weather, your experience will still go ahead, unless contacted by the provider.

What is your Vaccination Policy?

In accordance with current Government regulations, it is no longer a requirement to be double vaccinated, although we do highly recommend it.

Our COVID Statement

I have just filled in the review for Inspiration I am confused about which company organised it we have Intrepid., Inspiration and Tour Radar. I found the organisation poor and the amount of detail given to passengers lacking and confusing as other passengers had different details at times eg. the number of breakfasts some had 3 others had 5. The tour guide was not given enough details as he often had to ring the office for clarification eg. which motel we were booked into. We were not informed of the starting point and I had to ring to find out and then it was very vague eg told The Melbourne GAllery but we went there and it was closed so looked up the street to find the bus in a gutter with the doors open so assumed it was the one. The guide was excellent and deserves a pat on the back for his patience when he was not informed of details of motels or meal arrangements. We saw a great deal of very interesting views and places. Well worth the upsets and confusion .but very hesitant to use your company again due to lack of organisation .

This was our first time to Australia and we saw & learned so much in four packed days. Pierre was amazing, a non-stop stream of information on just about anything. I was constantly asking questions and never had one that he didn’t have the answer for. For example, while on the road between stops, I asked about the indigenous peoples of Australia and got a half hour thorough (and sometimes sad) lecture on their history. The hotels and included meals were first rate. Highly recommended.

What people love about great ocean road tours.

I did this 4-day tour and I really enjoyed it. Jens, the guide, as well as all participants were very nice and warmhearted. I felt like I travelled with new friends. There were only 5 people in our group. I totally recommend this tour that includes amazing spots and sceneries. We were also lucky to see many animals (koalas, kangaroos, emus, fox, etc.).

An excellent trip from Adelaide to Melbourne. We were a small group that got on well and we were looked after by our guide and driver Craig. He was knowledgeable about the sites we visited and was also able to provide a detailed background to the history of each site and kept us informed regarding the local flora and fauna. The coastline along the coastal road is stunning. The accomadation was good, the younger members of the group used the shared rooms while I opted for my own room (its an age thing ) The first day was a long day travelling but we had plenty of breaks. I would recommend starting from Adelaide rather than Melbourne and finish on a long day driving on the final day I would strongly recommend this trip and the operator David

Just got back from this two day Great Ocean Road/ Grampians tour and would thoroughly recommend it. The group was only eight people which meant we were able to spread out on the bus and make the most of our stops. Guide Craig was one of the highlights of the whole trip for me. I got to sit in the passenger seat, see the unobstructed views of the Great Ocean Road and spend the hours in the bus chatting and joking with him which made the drive feel much quicker and more enjoyable. Craig is a very knowledgeable tour guide, a fascinating human being and all round cool guy. We were able to see Kangaroos, Koalas, Emus, Echidnas and a lizard. The Eco YHA at Halls Gap was one of the nicer hostels I’ve stayed in. It had a spacious relaxed atmosphere and breakfast was provided in the morning. Lots of great stops and appropriate toilet breaks on Day 1 and 2. I definitely recommend walking as much of the scenic stops as time allows to make the most of the amazing views and if you’re driving from Melbourne sit on the left of the bus to get the best views of the Ocean Road. Great Ocean Road Trip Itinerary

The Great Ocean Road is Victoria’s famous must-do road trip. One day we will show you the beauty of this coastal drive and take you through pristine beaches, fresh rainforest and rugged limestone rock formations.

Be wowed by the 12 Apostles – these iconic rock formations lie just off the shore of Port Campbell National Park in  Victoria . Get lost in the beauty of this natural scenery and allow our guides to regale you with the stories and history that shapes this epic coastline.

Depart Melbourne

Once we have left Melbourne, we head down to the  Surf Coast,  passing through gorgeous seaside townships such as  Anglesea ,  Lorne  and  Airey’s Inlet . We stop for some morning tea and breathe in the fresh sea air while spotting surfers out on the water. The proximity to Antarctica means you will learn why everyone wears a wet suit once you dip your toes into the water.

Visit the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch

Stop at the Great Ocean Road monument, which marks the original starting point of the Great Ocean Road. After some photos at the iconic  Memorial Arch  and a lesson on the history of the soldiers who built this road and dedicated it to their fallen comrades, we will wind through more stunning views (of course, stopping for pictures!)

Search for Australian flora and fauna

Along the journey, we will make stops to look for Koalas and other Australian wildlife on the Great Ocean Road , hanging out in the wild. As they are wild, we cannot guarantee where they will appear, but our knowledgeable guides know all the best spots to get out into the bush and spot them sleeping!

Stop to Enjoy Lunch in Apollo Bay

A welcome lunch break is taken in  Apollo Bay   (approximately 45 minutes – at guests’ own expense).  Once you have  explored Apollo Bay , grabbed any souvenirs you wish to buy, or tasted some delicious ice cream, you are back on the bus to the Great Otway National Park inland.

Rainforest walk in the Great Otway National Park

Still on the Great Ocean Road but continues into the lush green hills of the Great Otway National Park . Drive past towering  Eucalyptus trees until we arrive at a  Cool, Temperate Rainforest patch . You will be amazed at the difference in the scenery as we take a walk through the tree ferns and marvel at the ‘ancient relics’  Myrtle Beach trees . These provide perfect canopy shade and originate from when Australia was part of a supercontinent known as  Gondwanaland . Breathe in the fresh air before we take a relaxing drive to the dramatic Shipwreck Coast !

The Twelve Apostles

Once out of the trees and back by the  Southern Ocean,  we arrive in  Port Campbell National Park , home to the iconic  12 Apostles . We will spend about 40 minutes at the  Apostles,  where you will enjoy free time to take in the views from every angle, walk along the boardwalks, and get the perfect pictures of this wild and rugged coastline.

Loch Ard Gorge and the Shipwreck Coast

Also, in the  National Park,  we head down to  Loch Ard Gorge , the site of one of Australia’s most well-known shipwrecks, hear the dramatic tale of Tom and Eva and then head down to the beach to look for the caves. You will also find rock formations such as the Island Archway ,  Razorback , and the ‘ Salt and Pepper Shakers .

Returns to Melbourne

After a full day of exploring, we say goodbye to the Great Ocean Road and turn back inland to drive back to Melbourne via country roads. We pass through farmlands en route to the country town of Colac. Here, you can grab a quick bite for dinner (at the guests’ expense) if you wish, as we will return home in Melbourne at approximately 8:30 pm.

The Great Ocean Road has two main starting points when travelling from Melbourne . You can turn onto the Great Ocean Road from either  Torquay  or  Anglesea . Our  1-day Great Ocean Road tours turn onto Great Ocean Road at Anglesea. From here, the Great Ocean Road hugs the coastline and goes to Apollo Bay. Our tours travel to the 12 Apostles before returning to Melbourne. This journey is a 504 km return to Melbourne , which takes 7hrs hours to drive. We spend 12 hours along the Great Ocean Road, enjoying many beautiful locations and stopping to explore.

Where does the Great Ocean Road start and end?

The Great Ocean Road starts from Torquay,  104km south of Melbourne . The Great Ocean Road ends  244 km  later in Allansford. However, we recommend you travel through to  Warrnambool  to visit the largest city along the  Great Ocean Road .

Can you do the Great Ocean Road in one day?

Yes, we specialise in offering one-day trips to the Great Ocean Road, helping travellers maximise their time in Melbourne. Between April and October, hiring a car for a one-day trip to the Great Ocean Road is not recommended . This region can experience high winds and severe rainstorms. You have limited daylight and will be returning to Melbourne in the dark on less maintained roads. From Melbourne, a Great Ocean Road day trip in a hire car is a tiring journey with approximately 7hrs of driving. My friend and I did this tour on our second day in Australia (both in our late 20s). We both had such a fantastic day and were lucky that the sunshine came out for us as well during the day. We had Tim (with long hair – there were two Tims!) as our guide and we couldn’t have asked for better. Such a friendly and knowledgeable guy, absolutely loved his stories and facts throughout the day and how his playlist linked in with the information he was telling us. I felt so lucky to see wild koalas in Lorne ( we weren’t successful in seeing any in Noosa or Magnetic Island later on during our travels so felt even luckier we had managed to see them on this trip and so early on!). Loved the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge, had famous Dooleys ice cream in Apollo Bay…. we fit so much into the day, it was very worthwhile. Of course like with any daytrip /tour, I wish we could have had slightly more time in each place and to have seen even more sights rather than having to pick and choose here and there because of time constraints. Overall so happy that we decided to do this tour!

We have been in Melbourne for just 3 days . So We have chosen the 1 day Great Ocean Road and it was absolutely amazing. Had fun at Cape Patton and enjoyed the beautiful great ocean rod cost and the ‘12 Apostles’. Had a great experience with our couch tour operator. There was a good choice of photo stops along the Great Ocean Road. Apollo Bay was a good place to have lunch followed by a delicious Chocolate Ice Cream at the Award winners local outlet. We enjoyed the Rainforest and had some fantastic walks at the coast as we made our way along to the Twelve Apostles. It was a beautiful sunny day so conditions were ideal for this tour. My two friends and I did the one day tour of the Great Ocean Road with Tim as our guide. He was awesome! We loved his music playlist on the bus – made the trip much more enjoyable! We stopped at beautiful places and got to see wild koalas and parrots. Definitely recommend this tour!

My friends and I did the reverse great ocean road with Daniel as our guide, and had the BEST time! Daniel is an awesome host and guide, if you’re lucky enough to get on his bus you’ll be in for an amazing day! We also did the optional helicopter tour which was a great way to see the “12” Apostles.

The day trip to Great Ocean Road starts early in the morning and takes 12 hours long (the whole day). Is good to wear comfortable clothes, shoes and bring a bottle of water with you.

It is a small group, no more than 20 people, and during our way, we stopped to see some wild Aussie animals as cockatoos, koalas, kangaroos.

We had lunch in Apolo Bay in a small restaurant and our guide suggested to try the famous local ice cream at Dooley`s (delicious).

We stopped to do small hiking (40 minutes) at the Rain Forest and then, we continued by car until the Twelve Apostles Lookout. The view is unbelievable and the sunset is breathtaking. We also visited some places around where is possible to go to the beaches and see the huge stones which are part of The Twelve Apostles, as well.

Our guide, Guy, is an amazing and kind person and he knows everything about the place.

It was a happy and unforgettable day. I strongly recommend it!

Excellent day trip! Bus is a little small, but it didn’t take away from the day and the driver was fantastic and very knowledgeable. This trip is worth every penny.

We were picked up in central Melbourne and had morning tea in a little town called Colac. First landmark we saw was the London Bridge where we stopped for 15 mins to take in the view, we then went on to Loch Ard Gorge where we had longer time to walk around, really beautiful spot. Then we headed to the 12 Apostles where we had an hour, we had lunch here and there was an opportunity to go up in a helicopter for those who had pre-booked. There is a steady walk around the cliffs to take in the views of the Apostles. It is a busy place with lots of posing and selfies!

We then moved on to Mait’s rest forest tour again an easy 30 min walk the guide was entertaining and new his stuff. The trees were amazing to see.

We then had a toilet break at a seaside town and on to my favourite part of the day….Koalas! I got to see my first wild koalas on this trip. In fact one was sat on the crash barrier looking out to the ocean! Our guide said he had never seen anything like it before! At Kennett River there were also a lot of parrots which are clearly used to being fed as they were jumping on some of the other tourists.

We then drove along the rest of the Ocean Drive Road and had a photo opportunity at the Memorial Park Gates. One last stop for pizzas in Torquay and back to Melbourne for about 7.30pm all in all a very memorable day and thanks to a great driver and tour guide. Definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Melbourne and has a spare day.

What a fantastic tour we had on the 6th December with Andrea (and Rob) who was training. He will be a lovely and very approachable tour guide when he is ready.

A lot of people recommended doing great ocean road over several days. However we saw everything we felt the need to see on the day tour, it was more than sufficient.

Throughout this time we had morning tea, stopped at several bays and beaches, a wildlife park, had a lunch stop, went to viewing points, did a rainforest walk AND saw the 12 Apostles. The day went by very quickly and although there were so many stops, we didn’t feel rushed which was great.

The highlight of our tour was definitely seeing the parrots and koalas in the trees. You can feed the parrots and get some amazing photos!

We were picked up at 6.55am and didn’t return in the CBD until 8.30pm! Andrea was extremely knowledgable about everything that we did and saw. I can thoroughly recommend it as something to do in Melbourne.

This tour is not a must, but can be done if you have a day to spend and don’t know what to do. This tour takes you along different sights and places along the Great Ocean Road. It was a good tour as we got to see the 12 Apostles (now only 9 left), the Shipwreck Cove (The Loch Ard Gorge), The Maits Rest Rainforest (A small 20-25 mins walk through the rainforest) and many beautiful views along the Great Ocean Road. We also stopped in a place with some beautiful birds and koalas. It was a day well spent.

Our host for this tour was KK. She was really fun and patient (as at times we would return later than the rest of the group to the bus – apologies to everyone for that).

The tour was awesome. Got to spend time at all the major highlights of the Great Ocean Road! Tour guide was very helpful and nice. Would highly recommend as price is unbeatable.

I booked the Great Ocean road day tour with an online travel agent (Travel Freedom), who got me a day tour with Wildlife tours. I had been shopping around for rates and got a good deal for our family of six, which included lunch, so I was not sure what I would be getting for less than $100 per person, while other rates go as high as $130. Our tour went very well, my family enjoyed all the beauty and wonder of this tour, and all the history and information provided by our tour guide, Craig- who is not only knowledgeable, but full of wit and humor. Will look for Wildlife Tours again when we visit Australia!

We had a truly memorable day and couldn’t believe how much we managed to cram in. I need to give special mention to our tour guide Grant who really made the day with his informative but easygoing and often amusing commentary- it’s a long time to spend on a small coach and the commentary really helped the time pass and helped us learn about our surroundings. The meal stop was also really good – better than you often expect on tours where restaurants cater for large groups converging on them. Thanks for a tremendous day that we will always remember. My friends and I visited 3 places during our 1 week stay in Australia and the great ocean road was the best. The tourist guide was very friendly. Lots of things to see and pictures to take. We surely had a wonderful time.

It was my first time on the Great Ocean Road and I was not disappointed. The best part of it was the photo opportunities. So many things to see on a beautiful sunny day, I recommend this trip.
