Bow Wow Owns Part Of The Scream Tour ’23

The Black Promoters Collective, the group responsible for Maxwell’s 2022 “The Night Tour” featuring Joe and Anthony Hamilton , is partnering with Bow Wow for a return of the “Scream Tour.”

Bow Wow, along with B2K , Marques Houston , and Pretty Ricky , were the faces of the original Scream Tour, which ran in the summers of 2001-2012. Bow Wow is set to have an ownership stake in the reincarnation, formally known as “Scream Tour ‘23,” according to a report from Yahoo Finance .

“We are excited to partner with Bow Wow on the Scream Tour as he is the original face of the brand, and we have had the pleasure of working with him for many years on other tours we have produced,” Gary Guidry , CEO of The Black Promoters Collective, said in a press release . “By introducing the “Scream Tour ’23” and featuring an incredible lineup of rising stars, we aim to create a one-of-a-kind experience for fans, allowing them to relive their teenage years while introducing the next generation to the magic of live music.”

The Black Promoters Collective was largely formed as a part of the moment after the George Floyd protests when the nation seemed like it was ready for a real reckoning of its history with race. Composed of several of the top Black independent promoters and Black veterans of the live entertainment industry including Guidry, the group’s mission was focused on doing things with Black people at the forefront.

In 2021 Guidry told Afrotech about the group’s motivations :

”When the pandemic hit, we were able to slow down and we started to just talk and say, ‘This is our time to take a stand, come together, and discuss our culture,” Guidry told Afrotech in 2021. “Through that discussion, we started to just really see a bigger picture that it was bigger than us and bigger than just doing concerts. This was about culture. This was about our culture being marketed by people who have no connection.”

Teenage rapper Lil’ Bow Wow (real name: Shad Moss ) will kick off a summer tour July 25 in Memphis. At deadline, 11 dates for the trek have been confirmed but more shows will be added, according to a statement from the artist’s label, So So Def/Columbia. The outing has been dubbed the Scream 2 tour, as it is the follow-up to last summer’s Scream trek. The tour comes in support of Lil’ Bow Wow’s sophomore album, “Doggy Bag,” which debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and No. 11 on The Billboard 200. His 2000 So So Def/Columbia debut, “Beware of Dog,” bowed at No. 3 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and No. 8 on The Billboard 200. In other news, the 15-year-old rapper will headline a celebration for honor students today (April 22) at Southern University-Shreveport (La.) and invited three local school districts to bus students to the university for the show. However, two districts have refused to allow students to attend the event, sponsored by local radio outlet KMJJ. Robert Schiller, Caddo Parish schools superintendent, said that “to endorse commercially sponsored activities during the school days” is inconsistent with discipline policies and would set a precedent. An official for another parish said the students would not be excused for the show because they had too little notice. KMJJ program director Michael Tee said principals and the parish school board approved the event and award, knowing that the station was the sponsor. Lil’ Bow Wow will give a brief talk about staying in school and saying no to drugs. Finally, Lil’ Bow Wow will make his feature film debut in the upcoming 20th Century Fox film “Like Mike.” Due July 12 in North American theaters, the film finds the rapper starring as an orphan who finds sneakers that were “allegedly” worn by basketball legend Michael Jordan. By wearing them, he becomes an extraordinary player and the youngest ever to go pro. The film also features professional basketball stars Jason Kidd, Alonzo Mourning , Chris Webber , Tracy McGrady , David Robinson, and Rasheed Wallace. Here are Lil’ Bow Wow’s confirmed tour dates: July 25: Memphis (Mid-South Coliseum) July 26: Nashville (Nashville Municipal) July 27: Atlanta (Phillips Arena) July 28: Greenville, S.C. (Greenville Coliseum) Aug. 1: Charlotte, N.C. (Cricket Arena) Aug. 2: Greensboro, N.C. (Greensboro Coliseum) Aug. 3: Washington, D.C. (MCI Center) Aug. 4: Hampton, Va. Hey Music! Thanks for the therapy!

B2K and Experiencing the Scream Tour!

bow wow scream tour 2

The more that I realize that we are not getting any closer to having live music again, the more I try to hold on to my past concert experiences. I’ve already mentioned NSYNC and Usher, see links below for those. But now, it’s time to talk about B2K, my experience seeing them as a teenager on the Scream Tours, and even getting to experience them now recently as an adult. I hope you guys are able to look back and hold on to your memories as well 🙂

FAN-GIRL CHRONICLES I : NSYNC

FAN-GIRL CHRONICLES II : USHER

Where do I even start with this? I went to Scream Tours 2, 3, and 4, but I can’t seem to find my scrapbook with all of my pictures. Understand that some of us were still using just an actual digital camera for concerts, but, I’m not sure where those digital pictures are *face palms*. But I will try my best to share as much of my experiences as I can.

The Scream Tour(s)

Let’s start with the Scream Tour II, in 2002, which was in Lafayette, La, and B2K were one of the opening acts for Bow Wow, being that the Scream Tours were initially HIS. I remember bringing my best friend Danielle, and we were second row on the left side, SUPER close to the stage. And I do remember that the other opening acts were IMX and TG4, a girl group under the same label, at the time. This show was so much more intimate since it was a smaller arena, and we got to interact a lot, which is always fun.

bow wow scream tour 2

The next one, Scream Tour III, which was held the next summer (2003), in New Orleans. B2K had become headliners at this point and would be promoting their second album Pandemonium, as well as their movie ‘You Got Served’. The lineup for this tour included: Nick Cannon, Mario, and Marques Houston. A part of me feels like they added other opening acts (like B5) to this one, but I can’t recall.

bow wow scream tour 2

The last Scream Tour (IV) that I attended, took place the summer of 2005 (before I started my freshman year of college), and I went back to New Orleans for this one. This was after B2K had broken up and Omarion and Bow Wow were co-headliners. The opening acts for this one included: Marques Houston, Pretty Ricky, Bobby Valentino. I think I had floor seats for every tour, and it was so much easier to get than it is now LOL.

The Millennium Tour

Last year (2019), I was able to see B2K, along with some Scream Tour veterans, in New Orleans. I literally went from buying tickets the exact time they went on sale to becoming unsure about whether I wanted to go to having the best night of my life. My hesitation was due to the uncertainty of whether or not B2K could get along, long enough to get through the tour. Another reason was because I didn’t know how the environment would be, now that I was much older than the last time that I saw them all.

The lineup consisted of: B2K, Mario, Pretty Ricky, Bobby Valentino, the Ying Yang Twins, Lloyd, and Chingy. Even though I would have loved to see B5, it was still a great show, and brought back so many great memories. I did a Fan-Girl Chronicles post, and two Youtube videos (one with concert footage, and the other where I talk about my experience). You can check all of that below.

FAN-GIRL CHRONICLES IV : MY MILLENNIUM TOUR EXPERIENCE

Final Thoughts!

There was supposed to be a Part 2 to the Millennium Tour for this year (2020) but the shows got cancelled due to COVID. This tour would be headlined by Bow Wow and Omarion, so no more B2K. Even if they do re-schedule that tour, I don’t think I’m all that interested in trying to attend it. I rather hold on to the magical night that was the first Millennium Tour *shrugs*.

Bow Wow, Omarion Roll Out Scream IV Summer Dates

bow wow scream tour 2

Some of hip-hop and R&B's biggest -- not to mention hunkiest -- names will be hitting the road this summer for the fourth installment of the Scream Tour. And with a lineup like this, there should be lots of screaming -- from teenage girls, that is.

Rapper Bow Wow, who launched the inaugural Scream trek back in 2001, will once again headline this year's rendition, which is dubbed Scream Tour IV: The HeartThrobs. As announced back in April (see [article id="1500365"]"Bow Wow, Omarion Team Up For Single And Scream IV Tour"[/article]), Scream IV will also feature Bow's buddy Omarion, R&B crooner Bobby Valentino, Miami-based rap/R&B hybrid Pretty Ricky and former Immature member Marques Houston (see [article id="1503256"]"Marques Houston Pulls A Hulk Hogan, Strips Down For 'Naked' "[/article]).

Other acts are likely to be added to Scream IV's bill before the tour kicks off on July 20 in Trenton, New Jersey; an announcement is expected in the coming weeks with lineup additions. 2003's Scream III Tour included Omarion's former R&B outfit B2K along with Mario and Nick Cannon.

The Bow Wow-led outing will hit amphitheaters and arenas in close to 30 cities -- including Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Atlanta and New York -- before wrapping up September 4 in Miami, Florida.

Bow's forthcoming fourth album, Wanted, will drop on July 12. The Jermaine Dupri-produced effort will include contributions from Snoop Dogg and Ciara, among others (see [article id="1503864"]"Bow Wow Turns 18, But The Real Party Starts In June"[/article]). The record's first single, "Let Me Hold You," features a duet from Bow and tourmate Omarion, whose debut solo album, O, hit stores back in March.

Houston, Omarion's brother, released his second solo disc, Naked, on May 24, the same day Bluestars, the debut offering from the four brothers of Pretty Ricky, hit retail. Valentino issued his self-titled solo debut on April 26.
