Global Awakening

MIRACLES • IMPARTATION • JESUS

More than a mission's trip.

This is your chance to find a community that’s empowered and launched into greater faith. It’s quite possibly the best example of the Global Awakening community in action: International Ministry Trips. These trips are an opportunity to find spiritual family, to be activated in the unique giftings God has given you, and to take risks in your faith.

There is a cost to an experience like this, but the benefits our trip members experience always outweigh the cost of time and money. Time after time we hear from trip members that this is when they began to see miracles happen… that everything changed after their Trips experience.

International Ministry Trip Attendees with Global Awakening

Destinations

We only want to go where God is calling us. Therefore our criteria in choosing trip destinations is based around several factors:

Where is God moving?

We look for places where God is using us and others to advance His Kingdom, so that we can partner with Him.

Where is the door open?

We look for relationships for the long term in the regions we visit. We want to see the local believers encouraged and built up.

Safety of the team.

It is important to us that our team members are safe, able to sleep in comfortable beds, and have good food to eat.

Manageable costs.

Our trips are all-inclusive (meals, lodging, in-country travel, itinerary), which allows us to keep overall expenses low.

2023 Brazil Medical & Dental Mission Trip:

  • May 2 – 11, 2023
  • Estimated Trip Cost: $3,500-$3,800 Per Person
  • Registration Opens: Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022
  • Registration Deadline: Sunday, Feb. 28, 2023
  • Non-refundable $200 Deposit Due Upon Registration
  • Space is LIMITED to Medical Personnel Unless  Attendee can Speak Portuguese

We are returning to Manaus, Brazil on a Medical and Dental Mission Trip down the Amazon River. This timeframe includes travel days to and from Brazil, five ministry days on the river and a sightseeing day in Manaus. The two-story ministry boat offers exam tables and dental chairs. A flexible spirit is a must, as sleeping accommodations while on the boat could be a bunkbed, hammock or air mattress and could be co-ed. Space is limited to 10 people, unless the physician can speak Portuguese. This would open another spot on the team, as that would be one less translator required on the boat.

PASSPORT COST: Each individual will be responsible for their own passport costs. You can apply for a passport at most post offices around the area. Due to COVID, passport appointments are booked months out. Please plan in advance to allow time for your passport to arrive in time for the trip.  The cost for a passport is $165, more if expedited. Passport pictures can be taken at different locations, including Walgreens, for $14.99.

VACCINATIONS:

Required: You must be fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID and carry your Covid Vaccination Card. Recommended: While the CDC & WHO have an overall list of recommended vaccinations for Brazil, the following vaccinations are recommended specifically for our Team:

  • Hepatitis A & B
  • Tetanus (A booster if it has been 10 years since last shot)
  • Yellow Fever
  • Routine vaccinations recommended for Brazil are nearly the same as in the United States (MMR, TDAP, Chickenpox, Polio, Pneumonia)

TEAM MEMBERS: Our Team will be comprised of 10 Medical Professionals and 10 Interpreters. If a Medical Professional can speak Portuguese or Spanish, another position will open on the team for another Medical Professional.

The National Board of Mission Brazil launched a campaign to lower the ratio of population served by Baptist churches along the Solimoes River, which is the upper portion of the Amazon River in Brazil, to 1 church to every 10,000 people. In order to do that, they are planning to plant over 500 new churches in the region. To accomplish this goal, NBM-Brazil has established a “Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Manaus to train future pastors and lay leaders of churches among river people (Ribeirinos), and is planning six support bases along the 1,000 mile stretch of the Amazon between Manaus and Tabatinga (which borders Peru).

Our mission is to assist with training of leaders that will be planting multiplying churches, providing evangelistic tools, medical and compassion based service teams. There will be opportunities along the year to serve in different areas such as:

· Evangelism and Discipleship · Children Ministry · Construction · Audio Bible distribution · Medical & Dental care · Eye care

Mission Trip To Brazil

brazil missions trip

In May of 2024 Saint Vincent Archabbey is sponsoring a Mission Trip to Jundiai, Brazil.

Applications are available to young adults, ages 18 to 25, of our Benedictine parishes. A missionary will receive the opportunity to work alongside monks and other ministers as they interact with children at local schools, help the less fortunate, and spread the joy of the Gospel message.

Saint Vincent Archabbey’s Mission Office goal is to fund about half of all the expenses for this wonderful experience. The Mission Fellow is expected to raise the remaining funds for the trip on their own.

If you feel called to serve the poor in Brazil, please see your Benedictine pastor to apply. Space is limited and applications will be evaluated in the order they are received. Please sign up soon if you are interested.

Awards are contingent on the application of college age students (ages 18-25) who are members of a Benedictine parish staffed by a monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey. Awards will be evaluated by order received and will be given on a case-by-case basis.

A limited number of awards will be granted for flights and other related expenses to serve at Saint Vincent Archabbey’s foreign mission location.

The awardee is expected to raise ($1,250.00) for the support of missionary activities while on the trip. Any funds raised above these amounts will continue to support the Archabbey Wimmer Fund which is the main source of the awards.

The awardee is also required to:

Participate in service activities throughout the mission trip.

Journal their experience, via social media, while on mission.

Be available and participate in follow-up activities including writing articles, making presentations, providing photos and other awareness activities.

Applicants must have a letter from their pastor addressing their character.

All applications are due by January 3, 2024.

The final date to apply is January 3, 2024. For the application, forms, or any questions, comments, or concerns contact Br. Bosco Hough at his email ( [email protected] ) or by his phone, 724-532-6738. Thank you!
