CBBC TOUR AT MEDIA CITY

I came here yesterday with a friend's two children aged 8 and 10. Both are keen CBBC viewers. The instructions were quite clear as to when we were allowed to arrive for our tour and around 15 minutes is required to collect the lanyards and have a brief security check, Adults need to provide some form of ID too. The younger of my two charges enjoyed reading the weather and watching himself on the monitors. Some other children volunteered to read the news. We saw two different studios and had explanations how the recordings work. My own personal favourite (possibly as this wasn't just geared to the children in our group) was some of the tricks used in radio productions. There was ample opportunity for photos almost everywhere we went and our two guides were ideally suited to leading a tour group containing many children. It wasn't the cheapest of days out but definitely worth it as a treat. I'd be interested in going on the BBC (adult) tour now I've sampled the children's one.

Applied for tickets for this performance over Christmas and were very lucky to get some allocated. Apparently for this production they wanted 30% of the tickets to go to Salford residents. We were pleased to oblige. It wasn't a very nice day and we were a bit late, but very lucky today because there were more seats than people this time. You can wait in the foyer or in the waiting area after your tickets are validated, which is useful if you hadn't had anything to eat beforehand. The Philharmonic were as usual impeccable, the performance was going out live and the rules were explained to us before. It wasn't too difficult to sit back and enjoy, so I think we will try again, but perhaps not for a Question of Sport!

We were given a pass and lanyard and queued up for our guide. We walked across the forecourt to an entrance. Then our guide took us round all the buildings on the outside set and we could ask as many questions as we wanted. You could take your own photos. It was interesting but a lot of walking if yo u are immobile.

We had tickets to watch a recording of A Question of Sport and there was a note saying more tickets were issued than seats as people regularly don't turn up but we assumed this was a dozen or so. The weather was very bad outside so we went in the car and arrived at the time they said they would start validating tickets. We queued for an hour to be told it was full. They must have turned a hundred people away. The very nice man who told us we wouldn't get in said that as the weather was bad everybody had turned up. As they know how many people they can accommodate I don't know why we had to queue for an hour to be told we wouldn't get in. We have paid for petrol and parking and the BBC have increased their carbon footprint by asking people to make unnecessary journeys. Unless you are prepared to queue for hours don't bother.

very interesting design to view + the style of architecture has wow factor never been inside nice to visit = see

Had tickets for bout a month for Question of Sport recording. Instructions are to validate tickets with doors open times & recording starts times. Joined queue to be told that there were no places left - told by staff that they send out about 300 tickets for 200 seats and it becomes a first come first served situation. So a round trip of 100 miles, time off work, car park charges and a thoroughly spoiled day (we cancelled the restaurant) & headed back home. There must be a better way.
