What you can expect

Take to the water for spectacular evening of delicious food, wine, or soft drinks and entertainment aboard the London Dinner Cruise. Delight in spectacular views of London’s most iconic landmarks glide past, including the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge, as you are wined and dined on this three hour cruise.

As you step on board, you will be welcomed by the crew with a glass of sparkling wine in the lounge saloon. Take your seat, surrounded by panoramic windows, to enjoy a four-course meal. Whilst savouring the classic British menu, you will be entertained by a live singer, performing a string of pop hits, as well as the classics.

Once you have finished your meal, head to the open-air deck to marvel at London illuminated at night. Throughout the summer months, you will even see the city bathed in a warm, orange glow as the sun sets below the skyline. Then, if you wish, head back down to the lounge for more live entertainment, and plenty of dancing!

What a lovely cream tea. We were surprise to find that not only was it beautifully presented, but included some smoked salmon sandwiches, together with dainty cakes and cookies and with the mandatory scones, which were large and fresh. The service was fast and efficient... with very pleasant staff. We also enjoyed the commentary from a staff member, regarding the historic places of interest we passed. He was witty and knowledgable making it even more enjoyable. It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip un-rushed, lasting about one and a half hours. I highly recommended this trip on the Thanes. Excellent value for money. More

Tried as heard a lot about eating on the Thames. Clean and tidy boat,with very nice waiting staff. Orders taken quickly for drinks(2 course meal pre booked). Once we had made a dash to Westminster, food made it to our tables.What a delight it was... too.Tasty chicken in creamy mushroom sauce.Potatoe Rosti and vegetables were all cooked very nicely.Good commentry with some funny points too,made the down river part informative and interesting. We purchased this cruise online from Canada in October 2023 for a family trip to London over Christmas. We were charged 393£ per person. The promised “hamper” turned out to be a blue paper bag containing very cheap champagne, a bad chicken salad sandwich, inedible... crisps, and a box of 4 bad tasting chocolates - maybe a 25£ value? No one touched any of it beyond the initial taste test. Watching the New Year’s fireworks from a boat on the Thames is a great experience; but this one was definitely not worth the price of the ticket. More

We went on an evening river cruise. It was a lovely evening and we sat on the top deck. There was a singer who entertained us well. We had a glass of Prosecco and some canapés included in the price and we also purchased a... jug of Pimms. The boat took us down to Lambeth bridge and then back up towards Canary Wharf. The trip lasted approximately two hours and was really enjoyable. The only thing that would have improved it would have been some information about what we were seeing e.g the Traitors Gate at the Tower and The Walkie Talkie building. I knew what they were so could help some of my group but others didn’t. Enjoyed the trip and think it was good value for money. More

Here in London, we love a quirky restaurant . Whether that’s a supper club on an abandoned tube carriage , eating in the pitch black or dining at the top of one of the city’s tallest skyscrapers . But one style of dining which often seems to float (geddit!?) under people’s radar is London’s floating restaurants.

There aren’t that many places to eat on a boat in London. But the few floating restaurants you do find are definitely worth adding to your London foodie bucket list.

With some of the coolest settings, spectacular views, and unbeatable menus in the capital, these are the 10 best London boat restaurants to dine on in 2023…

Darcie & May Green

Where? Paddington.

This super Instagrammable spot in Paddington combines two of London’s coolest dining trends; floating restaurants and pretty brunch cafes.

A member of the Daisy Green Collection – the renowned Aussie cafe brand that serves up some of the tastiest avocado toast in London – Darcie & May Green are two moored barges floating on the Grand Union Canal. The colourful barges were designed exclusively by the ‘godfather’ of British pop art, Sir Peter Blake.

With both indoor seating and an upstairs terrace to choose from, the pretty floating restaurant is open from early morning to late at night.

You can pop by for a morning coffee or enjoy their signature all-day Aussie brunch menu . Then for dinner, pick from dishes including halloumi fries, roasted aubergine, chicken parmigiana and tiramisu lamington. All paired with a few drinks from their fantastic cocktail list of course.

The Cheese Barge

Quality cheese and fine wine… On a boat… In the sunshine… What more could you want!?

The Cheese Barge can be found on a large double-decker boat moored on the Regents Canal in Paddington, a short distance from Darcie & May Green.

The unique floating restaurant prides itself on its unbeatable offering of British cheeses.

The main dining room is open daily for lunch and dinner, serving a delicious seasonal cheese-focused menu.

Or for a more casual summer get-together with friends, you can head up to the boat’s rooftop terrace to enjoy a variety of cheese boards and grilled cheese sandwiches, accompanied by a great wine selection.

With two of London’s best floating restaurants sitting right next to each other in the Paddington basin, it’s almost impossible to choose between the two. My advice for the ultimate foodie day out would be to head to Darcie & May Green for brunch, then take a walk up to Little Venice and along the Regents Canal, before returning to the Cheese Barge roof terrace for mid-afternoon cheese and wine. Treat yourself!

Tattershall Castle

Where? Victoria Embankment.

The Pub on the Thames boat restaurant in London

Also known as ‘The Pub on the Thames’, The Tattershall Castle has some of the best views of any restaurant on a boat in London. Its prime location on Victoria Embankment means that you can enjoy dinner and drinks overlooking some of London’s most iconic sites, including the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.

But just because it has a 5* location, this doesn’t mean you’ll be paying 5* prices. The casual floating dining spot has an affordable menu of British classics including fish and chips, burgers, pies, platters, and more.

Being a pub, Tattershall Castle also hosts weekly comedy nights, live music and DJs, and a monthly pub quiz.

The Waterside Cafe

Where? Little Venice.

Dating back to 1995, The Waterside Cafe is London’s original floating cafe.

Located on a historic barge in the canal basin of Little Venice, this peaceful spot serves breakfasts, light lunches, afternoon teas, and freshly baked cakes that you can enjoy inside the air-conned boat or out on the lovely terrace on a sunny day.

The Waterside Cafe is the ideal place to grab a coffee and a light bite before heading on a walk along the Regents Canal to Camden Town (my favourite walk in London!) .

The cafe is only small and you can’t book a table in advance. But even if you can’t find somewhere to sit at the cafe, you can always grab a drink and slice of cake to go and enjoy it somewhere else along the canal – there are plenty of benches and other places to sit by the water.

If you’re looking for a boat restaurant on the Thames for a special occasion, The Yacht is the place to go.

Set on a luxury 1920s motor yacht, the elegant restaurant serves a modern European menu, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views along the Thames and across to the Southbank.

There’s also a swanky 1920s cocktail lounge to enjoy a couple of drinks before or after your meal, and a terrace area that can be hired for private events and parties.

Whether you visit by day or by night, this sophisticated spot is guaranteed to impress.

Where? Hackney Wick.

Barge East is a 118-year-old Dutch barge turned award-winning floating restaurant and bar on Hackney’s canals, just a short walk from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Westfield shopping centre in Stratford.

With a charming rustic interior and an outdoor deck overlooking the East London skyline, the restaurant serves a luxury seasonal British set menu designed by head chef Stefano Campione.

The unique location combined with their fantastic food even won Barge East the title of #1 restaurant in London on TripAdvisor in both 2019 and 2020! Pretty impressive right?

If you can’t get reservations on the barge itself, be sure to check out its lovely riverside garden, with stunning canal views, heated seating areas, and its own food and drink offering.

Feng Shang Princess

Where? Primrose Hill/Regents Park.

Feng Shang Princess is London’s only ‘floating Chinese restaurant’, sitting on the Regents Canal between Regents Park and Camden Town .

The unusual London restaurant has an authentic Chinese look both inside and out, complete with plenty of traditional red Chinese lanterns, and serves a menu of delicious Chinese cuisine, fine wine, cocktails and champagnes.

Rumour has it, Feng Shang Princess was Paul McCartney’s favourite Chinese restaurant in the city.

This upscale dinner cruise will take you past London’s most famous landmarks on its famous glass-walled boat, meaning you won’t miss a single sight no matter where you sit. Suri Cruise was photographed celebrating her 18th birthday in New York City while her estranged father, Tom Cruise, worked abroad in London.

According to pictures obtained by Page Six, the birthday girl stepped out in the rainy weather with a friend on Thursday. The pals chatted as Suri held a pink umbrella over their heads.

The teen, who is also the daughter of Katie Holmes, wore jeans, a denim jacket over a brown shirt and black shoes. She carried a blue backpack and held what looked like a birthday gift in her hand.

A day before Suri’s big day, her father, Tom, was spotted overseas in London filming a new project.

The “Mission Impossible” star, 61, flashed a wide grin as he arrived at a helipad and piloted a jet.

Tom and his youngest daughter have not had a close relationship over the past years. In fact, a source exclusively told Page Six earlier this month that the movie star has not seen Suri since 2012 (they were last seen together at Disney World that summer).

“Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the insider told us. “This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Holmes, who filed for divorce from Tom when Suri was only 6 years old in June 2012, previously told Glamour that she wanted to keep her daughter out of the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”

The 45-year-old also revealed in November 2013 court docs that she filed for divorce from Tom “to protect Suri from Scientology ,” a religion that is often referred to as a cult.

While it is believed that Holmes signed several non-disclosure agreements to prevent her from speaking about her marriage to Tom and the Church of Scientology, Suri will be free to discuss the religion and her father now that she is legally an adult.

Though it’s unclear whether the teen will publicly speak about her father, she won’t be joining Scientology anytime soon.

“Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be … she deserves love and sympathy,” former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder told Page Six.

London police have contained two horses that were seen running around loose without riders in the heart of the U.K. capital on Wednesday morning.

LONDON (AP) — Five military horses spooked by noise from a building site bolted during routine exercises on Wednesday near Buckingham Palace , threw off four riders and caused chaos as they galloped loose through central London streets and collided with vehicles during the busy morning rush hour.

The commotion erupted when the horses from the Household Cavalry, which were conducting an extended exercise for an upcoming military parade, presumably became alarmed by the sound of concrete falling off a moving walkway at a construction site in Belgravia, a swanky neighborhood just to the west of the palace.

Five of the seven horses ran off and four soldiers were thrown off. Three of them were hospitalized with injuries. None of them were deemed to be life-threatening.

The horses — minus their riders — then ran through main roads in central London, hitting vehicles and stunning commuters as they headed to work. The horses were all captured shortly after and are back at the barracks in Hyde Park undergoing medical tests.

Witnesses saw one of the loose animals crashing into a taxi waiting outside the Clermont Hotel nearby, shattering windows. Another of the animals crashed into a tour bus, smashing the windshield.

Pictures and videos shared widely across social media show two of the horses — one white, one black — running at speed down Aldwych, in between London’s historic financial center and the busy West End theater district.

The white horse’s face and legs were soaked in blood. A British Army spokesperson was not able to confirm what caused the injury.

Megan Morra, who was on her way to work, told the BBC that she saw the striking image of the white horse with a head injury.

“There was a lot of blood,” she said. “I was a bit distressed to be honest, looking at the poor horse.”

The horses are from the Household Cavalry, the ceremonial guard of the monarch and a feature of state functions in London.

The extent of the injuries the horses suffered were not immediately known.

In a video statement on X, formerly Twitter, Matt Woodward, Commanding Officer of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, said around 150 horses are exercised every morning in parks and on the roads to keep them fit and get them used to the surroundings and the noise so they are less easily panicked during parades.

“This morning, however, a small group of horses were spooked by some construction works on a quiet side road in Belgravia where building materials were dropped from height right next to them,” he said.

“Thankfully, considering the frequency of exercise and numbers of horses involved, this type of incident is extremely rare,” Woodward added., He thanked the emergency responders and members of the public for reacting quickly.

“This enabled swift treatment of our soldiers and helped bring our injured horses to safety,” he added.

The London Ambulance Service said it treated four people across three separate incidents in the space of 10 minutes after the incident erupted around 8:30 a.m.

Two of the military horses that got loose and ran through central London on Wednesday are in “serious condition,” according to British officials.

The British Army on Thursday shared an update on social media, noting that the trio of Household Cavalry soldiers who had been thrown from their saddles “are expected to recover fully and to return to duty.”

“Of the seven horses which were spooked, five tried to bolt and four — Vida, Trojan, Quaker and Tennyson — broke loose ,” the statement continued.

The Army added that two of the horses injured underwent operations Wednesday night, “with one transferred to an equine hospital,” adding that all are “being closely observed.”

“Our horses receive the highest standards of care, and those that did not undergo surgery are expected to return to duty in due course,” the British Army said. “We want to thank everyone who has shown such kindness and concern towards our soldiers and horses. We will provide more updates soon.”

The incident reportedly started when construction materials were dropped next to the animals as they were rehearsing for The King’s Birthday Parade , also known as Trooping the Colour , which occurs every June and involves 200 horses and 1,400 military members.

The scared horses then bolted through the streets, running into a double-decker bus, a taxi and other vehicles , reported the BBC.

The BBC said that in addition to the soldiers’ non-life-threatening injuries, a civilian on a bicycle had also been hospitalized due to the incident.

“All of the horses have now been recovered and returned to camp,” an official told the outlet on Wednesday, noting that “a number of personnel and horses have been injured and are receiving the appropriate medical attention.”
