Relax comfortably on padded seats or with feet dangling in the catamaran’s bow nets while the Atlantic’s water flows underneath.
The friendly crew accommodates the guests with a variety of tropical beverages, beer, wine and snacks while cruising past the Mega yachts at Rybovich and enjoying a variety of music from tropical to reggae, pop and classics. The cruise will head toward Peanut Island where the Historic Coast Guard station still stands next to John F. Kennedy’s famous bunker built in 1960. The return trip includes up close views of the palatial mansions of Palm Beach, the Historic Biltmore hotel and a view of the iconic Breakers Hotel. As we approach the dock upon return, catch a photo of the Flagler Museum or the spectacularly plush gardens of Society of the Four Arts. This is not a Narrated cruise (check out our Sightseeing cruises for Narration ) but be sure to ask your crew if you would like them to point out a few of the “highlights” along the way!
A portion of the boat is covered for those that prefer to sit out of the sun and plenty of seating and deck space throughout the boat to move around, take photos, socialize or dance. A restroom is available onboard along with all safety equipment, life vests and coast guard certified specs.
(Also, be sure to check out the public Sunset Sails also available on “ Hakuna Matata ‘s” sister catamaran vessel, the NEW “Motunui” )
After your cruise, check out the dozens of restaurants, shopping and art Galleries throughout Clematis Street, The Square or Northwood Village. All walkable or use the FREE trolley, Circuit or rent an electric scooter from the Waterfront or our Adventure Center 7 days per week.

South Florida's West Palm Beach lies across the Lake Worth Lagoon from neighboring Palm Beach. The oldest municipality in Florida is found in this city, a principal city of the Miami Metropolitan area. The distance from downtown Miami is approximately 69 miles. The town boasts numerous cultural treasures, a bustling city center, and countless excellent restaurants. It's a place where people congregate to enjoy one-of-a-kind shops, superb dining, and countless entertainment options.
What Best Things to do in West Palm Beach?
Immerse yourself in the colorful culture and nightlife, and soak up the beauty of West Palm Beach city by going to these below places. All these places are packed with rich history, diversity, beautiful sandy beaches, and more.
1. Beaches in West Palm Beach
West Palm Beach has a beautiful 47 miles of coastline, which means no shortages of sandy beaches. There are nearly 30 tropical beach parks that cover these 47 miles along with the Atlantic coast! Visitors need to take a short drive over the Royal Park Bridge to reach the beach area. Moreover, there are some relaxing spots such as Palm Beach Municipal Beach, steps from Worth Avenue, Ocean Cay Park, etc. These beaches are low-key and comfortable, making them a perfect place to catch sun rays and great to spot marine wildlife.
2. Peanut Island
Another beautiful spot to visit in West Palm Beach is Peanut Island . It is an 80-acre county park located right at the mouth of the Lake Worth Inlet. It features the Palm Beach Maritime Museum, a former Coast Guard Station, and the historic presidential bunker of President John F. Kennedy. But to reach this historical and natural wonder site, you need to take a water taxi, ferry, or private boat. The area is also known for several reasons . It is one of the best snorkeling spots, thanks to the beautiful manatees and the colorful fish that call the region home. Also, head to the eastern shore to see the rocky coastline that attracts the most marine wildlife.
3. Worth Avenue
Locals say that if you need to ask for the price of anything on Worth Avenue, on the enchantment island of Palm Beach, you cannot afford it. One of the best things about this street is that nothing has to be purchased to enjoy it. Several fashionable clothing and accessories shops are everywhere, including luxury brands and fascinating antique and décor shops. Alongside jewelers and perfumeries, you'll also find unusual treasures, such as Raptis Rare Books. You'll find galleries and department stores there and the famous Ta-Boo Restaurant, where the Kennedys used to hang out. You'll find artists' studios and food shops hidden in leafy courtyards with bronze statues of children playing.
4. John D. MacArthur Beach State Park
John D. MacArthur Beach State Park was opened in 1989 and has made flora and fauna by covering around 438-acres of area. The park is located just a short drive away in North Palm Beach. It has wheelchair-accessible boardwalks, along with well-maintained nature trails. The major highlight of the park is the 1600-foot-long pedestrian bridge over the estuary, which connects Lake Worth to the beach habitat. Visitors might come across several wildlife creatures such as birds, manatee, and other animals when you walk on the bridge. Even you can sit and enjoy the spot as a picnic spot because there are plenty of shaded pavilions and picnic tables. Even at the end of the bridge, you will find out a beautiful coastline that offers water activities such as paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes.
5. The Taste History Culinary Tour
To offer visitors a truly immersive and comprehensive culinary experience, Taste History Culinary Tour focuses on engaging and educating them. Every tour features a variety of food tastings that provide an exciting and entertaining overview of the history and culture of food in the area. Visitors can ride the buses to food-centric neighborhoods like Delray Beach, Lake Worth, and others, where cuisines range from Cuban to Italian to French. It can be said that the trip offers an opportunity to sample cuisine from around the globe.
Best Time to Visit in West Palm Beach
The subtropical climate allows you to visit West Palm Beach any time of year. The best season to visit West Palm Beach is during the spring (April to May) and the fall (September to October) to avoid the hottest temperatures and most crowded places. It's winter from October to March and quite warm from April to September. At the same time, the rainy season takes place in June, August, and September .

This Low-Cost Cruise Between West Palm Beach & the Bahamas is Florida’s Best-Kept Secret
If you consider yourself a beach bum—or just daydream about jetting off to tropical places–you may think you know everything there is to know about vacationing in Florida . But chances are, this affordable cruise between the Bahamas and Florida has never even crossed your radar. Can’t decide between a trip to the Bahamas or a trip to Florida? With Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line out of West Palm Beach, Florida , you don’t have to.
Courtesy of Skye Sherman
An Weekend Cruise From Palm Beach to the Bahamas
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line operates just two ships— Grand Celebration and Grand Classica— out of the Port of Palm Beach, located just north of downtown West Palm Beach in an area formally known as Riviera Beach. Not a lot of people know about it, even in Florida, but it’s the perfect way to pack more into your vacation. The cruise line has year-round daily sailings between Florida and the Bahamas.
The sailings are typically two-night/three-day cruises, which makes it easy to just take off on a vacation when you need one. You can leave on a Friday and be back by Sunday morning (and not even have to take a day off of work !).
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line offers super chill and easygoing cruises between two amazing tropical vacation destinations , and it allows you to maximize your time in the Sunshine State by exploring another destination during just a short stint away from your first vacation. It’s kind of like a vacation within a vacation , and who wouldn’t want that?
Where Does Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Go?
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line sails between West Palm Beach and the Bahamas and docks in Freeport (Grand Bahama Island). While docked in port, you can opt to explore on your own or book an excursion to help you make the most of your time in the islands.
Another perk of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is the fact that, if you prefer, you can extend your trip by staying over in the Bahamas for a couple of nights and then coming back on a different sailing. This is something that few other cruise lines offer (if any), and it’s a nice way to spend a little extra time in the Bahamas while still enjoying a cruise vacation on either end. You can book the four-night vacation option directly on the Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line site and choose between a few different hotel options, including some all-inclusives.
How Much Is Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line?
This is perhaps the biggest draw of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line: it’s affordable. And sometimes, if you’re lucky, you might even find a Groupon for the cruise, and then it’s even cheaper.
Plus, everything’s included in the price, as on most cruises: food and drink won’t cost you unless you pay extra for the upgrade restaurants or purchase an alcoholic drink package (which I recommend doing if you’re going to have more than one or two piña coladas on the cruise). And I also recommend at least one meal at The Rock Grill, a super fun dining experience where you cook your own meal on 1000-degree lava rocks brought to your table!
The cruise is usually around $150 or less for a 2-night/3-day jaunt to the Bahamas. They also offer regular deals and promotions like flash sales (I’ve seen $59 per person, per night!) and even “kids sail free” promos (they have three separate kids clubs onboard). They also offer perks for solo cruisers , so don’t write off the cruise if you can’t find a travel buddy or if you just need a little “me” time.
They even offer monthly Ladies Night cruises, which is $49 per lady with packages available that include drink coupons, spa discounts, VIP perks and other treats.
Through July 31, 2019, Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line has brought back their Triple Play promotion: $129 per person for all staterooms plus perks like five free drinks, a $25 onboard credit and $50 casino match play. Am I doing my math wrong, or do the perks just about cover the cost of the cruise?!
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line Experience
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line isn’t a luxury cruise line and the ships aren’t the latest and greatest state-of-the-art types with all the newest bells and whistles (so don’t go in with those kinds of expectations!).
What you will find is a laidback, no-frills way to spend a couple of days away from your cares, the ideal place to take a break from the real world and spend some time in the Bahamas. And for the price, you really can’t beat it…try to visit the Bahamas for less, I dare you!
The actual visit to the Bahamas is short—you only have from the time the ship docks in the morning til you have to be back on board again in the afternoon—but sometimes, that’s all you need for a total reset. You’ll sail back into port the next day feeling like you got a nice break from reality for a bit.
The cruises are also pretty versatile. While the party goes all night at the casino and bar areas, you can also get away from it all and have a relaxed time aboard the ship. There’s onboard entertainment and shows , a casino , bars and poolside parties on the sun deck , but there’s also a spa and salon , fitness center, and a little shopping—or you can just enjoy the view from your room !
Whether you want an action-packed, no-sleep kind of trip or a soothing time with endless sea surrounding you to dissolve your stresses away, you can find what you’re looking for on a Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line ship.
What’s The Difference Between Grand Classica & Grand Celebration ?
There are two ships in the Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line fleet: Grand Classica and Grand Celebration .
There aren’t many differences between the two different Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line ships. Their restaurants vary slightly—they have a few of the same restaurants but some different ones—but overall, the vibe is very similar and one isn’t better than the other. I wouldn’t pick a cruise based on the ship because they’re so similar.
I’ve been on both, but if I had to pick one to go on again, I think it would be Grand Celebration . I think it’s the original (and thus older) ship, but for some reason, the vibe flowed better for me and I liked its selection of restaurants.

Things To Do
Subscriber only, things to do | weekend things to do: the 420 choco taco, comedian ron white, las olas wine & food festival, the best events, concerts and festivals this weekend in south florida, from west palm beach and delray beach to fort lauderdale, pompano beach and miami..
Thanks to the liberal Florida Supreme Court (and in spite of the valiant efforts of Attorney General Ashley Moody), this Saturday may be the last 4/20 celebrated with recreational use of marijuana still illegal in the Sunshine State.
After years of following the lead of enlightened states such as Arkansas and Alabama, Florida is set to allow its residents to decide the legalization question with a November ballot initiative. It just doesn’t seem fair.
But we should probably prepare. Apparently, there is a whole “lifestyle” surrounding marijuana, from music and fashion to food. Don’t get me started on how to roll a joint. I can’t even make a proper martini.
This weekend, especially on Saturday, 4/20 (pronounced “four-twenty”), there will be a variety of opportunities to educate ourselves on the culture and community of cannabis.
For instance, at Fort Lauderdale brewery LauderAle, the 4/20 celebration called Hops & High Notes begins at 4:20 p.m. Saturday and includes two instructional joint-rolling workshops at 6 and 9 p.m. (rolling material and hemp provided, but you can bring your own). There will be music from Marcus Amaya at 7 p.m. Visit Facebook.com/lauderale .
If you haven’t been there already, Saturday would be a good time to visit El Segundo, a new taco restaurant that marries Mexico City street food and Texas barbecue at The Peach in West Palm Beach , an art and hospitality venue operated by the creative community builders at SubCulture Group.
El Segundo will host Smoke & Fire: A 420 Joint on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m., with $4.20 tacos and margaritas from noon to 6 p.m., a performance by reggae band Fat Spliffs and more than two dozen vendors. There also will be a special menu of smoky barbecue craftsmanship from executive chefs Angelo Arboleda and Kevin Avellaneda, as well as special guest Mistah Lee’s Smokin’ Good BBQ, recently voted best barbecue in South Florida by Sun Sentinel readers . Visit Instagram.com/elsegundowpb .
Meanwhile, trendy South Florida taqueria Coyo Taco will have your munchies covered with its version of Klondike’s beloved Choco Taco available this weekend only. The 420 Choco Taco will cost $10 and be on sale Friday through Sunday at Coyo Taco locations in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Wynwood, Brickell, Coral Gables and South Miami.
A collaboration between Coyo Taco executive chef-partner Scott Linquist and Mike Romeu, owner of Kendall artisan ice cream shop Sweet Melody, this special-edition dessert is a riff on the handheld treat that Klondike discontinued in 2022, much to the chagrin of the Choco Taco cult. The 420 Choco Taco features scratch-made dulce de leche ice cream wrapped in a house-made waffle taco shell coated in cinnamon, sugar and dark chocolate, all topped with a drizzle of caramelized white chocolate and candied Rice Krispies.
The Fort Lauderdale location of Coyo Taco is at 401 E Las Olas Blvd., Suite 150, just north of Las Olas on the side street between YOLO and Bank of America. Weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Visit Instagram.com/coyotaco .
Elsewhere, this weekend brings the return of the Las Olas Wine & Food Festival and the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival, and we say goodbye to “Hamilton” and the West Palm Beach GreenMarket.
On your side, ‘Hamilton’: The nationally touring production of the musical “ Hamilton ” that ends its run this weekend at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in downtown West Palm Beach has much to recommend. The hip-hop retelling of the founding of the nation is a cultural touchstone for a generation and a masterwork of creativity, but it’s also richly entertaining and thought-provoking, with more laughs than you might expect. This particular production — especially Blaine Alden Krauss (Alexander Hamilton), Kendyl Sayuri Yokoyama (Eliza Hamilton), Deon’te Goodman (Aaron Burr), Carvens Lissaint (George Washington) and Jared Howelton (Marquis de Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson) — is as powerful as any I’ve witnessed. The performance I saw last Thursday was punctuated by frequent, prolonged applause, culminating in a standing ovation from the all-ages audience. Shows this weekend are scheduled at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets (starting at $69+) remain, but not many. Visit Kravis.org .
The nanny: The touring Broadway musical comedy “ Mrs. Doubtfire ” continues its run at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale through Sunday. The story of a divorced out-of-work actor who will do anything to see his kids — disguising himself as a Scottish nanny — stars two-time Tony Award nominee Rob McClure . Holland America crewmember missing after going overboard before vessel docks at Port Everglades
By Hunter Geisel
Updated on: April 13, 2024 / 4:52 PM EDT / CBS Miami
FORT LAUDERDALE — A search is underway for a cruise ship crewmember who went overboard while the vessel was still at sea before docking in South Florida this weekend.
Around 11:18 a.m. Saturday, deputies with the Broward County Sheriff's Office Port Everglades District responded to a report of a missing crewmember on a Holland America cruise ship.
According to Holland America, the crew member was reported missing when the Rotterdam vessel docked in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. After reviewing the security camera video, the crew member went "purposefully overboard" around 9:45 p.m. Friday while the vessel was still en route between Cuba and Key West, the cruise line told CBS News Miami.
BSO's Homicide and Crime Scene units have responded to Port Everglades to investigate, while the U.S. Coast has been notified and is currently searching the sea for the crew member.
"All of us at Holland America Line are deeply saddened by this incident and our thoughts and prayers are with the team member's family at this difficult time," the cruise line shared in a statement with CBS News Miami.
This is a developing story. Tune into CBS News Miami on-air and online for the latest updates.

The Dirt: Michael Jordan buys new estate in Jupiter, and Kyma restaurant to open in West Palm Beach
Welcome to The Dirt ! I’m real estate reporter Kimberly Miller with the latest developments in the sizzling market.
In this week's real estate news, some wealthy folks are terribly vexed because they can't park their 164-foot yacht at their dock in North Palm Beach, and some normal folk are troubled that proposed affordable housing in Jupiter really isn't that affordable.
Ahhhh, Palm Beach County. From Ruinart champagne to the champagne of beers , we've got it all.
There's also breaking restaurant news and The Palm Beach Post covers restaurants better than Velveeta cheese on nachos. Or hollandaise on eggs benny, or flambéed orange sauce on crepes Suzette or, well, you get the picture. We write a lot about restaurants.
Senior business reporter Alexandra Clough was the first to report on a famous Greek restaurant coming to West Palm Beach, and there's also a story about why Planet Smoothie and Moe's Southwest Grill co-founder Martin Sprock may be abandoning plans for an eatery on West Palm Beach's acclaimed Antique Row.
A 164-foot yacht named Honey gets the cold shoulder in North Palm Beach
The very best part of this story is the revelation that we — little ol' Palm Beach County — have become a "mini-Monaco" for the wealthy mariners of the world who can handle a little chop in their 164-foot mega yachts. (I can't resist a "Wolf of Wall Street" clip) But once they get the yachts here here, they face a serious parking dilemma .
A North Palm Beach homeowner just wants to dock his yacht named Honey at his home. Trouble is, he has to "occupy" the home and since he's got several other homes in Palm Beach County and this one isn't his primary residence the definition of "occupy" seems to be the stumbling point.
It's a real Palm Beach dilemma. Too many homes and a mega yacht. Sigh.
Penthouse at The Bristol in West Palm Beach sells for $28 million
The ultra-luxury tower that some folks originally poo-pooed because it was in West Palm Beach instead of Palm Beach just had another record sale for a single-condominium at a recorded $27.99 million. The six-bedroom penthouse is one half of the 23rd floor of the swanky condo that sparkles like a beacon of affluence on the shores of the beleaguered Lake Worth Lagoon .
The seller was a company affiliated with a trust in the name of the late Boston developer Gerald S. Fineberg. The buyer's side is a mystery hidden in a trust that's sealed inside the lost treasure of Oak Island .
Michael Jordan buys another multi-million dollar home in the ultra-exclusive Bear's Club
Just a guess, but I'm thinking Michael Jordan can buy a home just about any-dang-where he pleases. For the first time last year, Jordan made the Forbes list of the country's 400 richest people , so to choose another property in the Bear's Club in Jupiter must say something about its exclusivity and high-end amenities.
His new 9,100-square-foot home has nothing on his custom-built estate nearby, but it did cost a recorded $16.5 million, which ain't too shabby.
New York's acclaimed Kyma Greek restaurant coming to West Palm Beach
If a renowned New York restaurant is going to open its first eatery outside of New York, where else is it going to go than Wall Street South? So, of course, Kyma, which offers traditional Greek taverna food, will be coming to downtown West Palm Beach by next year with ground-floor space AND a lively rooftop area.
I do so love a piece of baklava, but at $14-a-pop, it's a little above my budget. There's a nice happy-hour menu with lots of $10 "bites", which seems more doable for the non Wall Street Southerners .
Live lightly.
