Cruises from New York to Bermuda
New York City has two departure ports for cruise lines. The Manhattan Terminal has been upgraded at Piers 88 and 90 to serve some of the largest ships in the world. It’s a modern facility with some of the most efficient terminal operations.
It’s located in Midtown Manhattan, not far from the Time Warner Building and Central Park. You can easily access this terminal by car, subway, taxi, bus and foot. You’ll have to walk a few blocks if you take the subway to the terminal.
There is another cruise ship departure port in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Terminal is located in Red Hook, an up-and-coming part of Brooklyn that has a lot to offer visitors. You can access the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal via any method of transportation. You’ll have to walk four to six blocks if you take the subway.
You can take a taxi to the ports from the New York airports. Make sure that you factor this cost into your cruise budget. A taxi or car service from the airport could cost between $18 and $125.
How Long Will It Take to Reach Bermuda?
Different cruise lines offer distinct itineraries. It only takes one full sea day to cruise from New York to Bermuda. Depending on the length of the trip and the schedule, though, your vessel may take two sea days to reach the destination.
Popular Ports of Call in Bermuda
Once you arrive at the island, your ship will typically spend a few days in port. Bermuda’s three main ports of call for cruise ships are:
• Royal Navy Dockyard – Most cruise ships dock here, at King’s Wharf or Heritage Wharf.
• Hamilton City Port – Centrally located, this port puts you in the city, where you can get on a bus or ferry to anywhere on the island.
• St. George’s Port – This port, on the eastern side of the island, is suited for small and medium vessels.
Things to Do and See
Bermuda has an excellent public transportation system. You can take buses and ferries from the major cruise ports to just about anywhere else on the island.
King’s Wharf is a cultural hub. There are many shops and eateries within walking distance of the port. Warehouses have been restored and transformed into museums and art galleries.
If your ship docks in King’s Wharf, you can spend your time at the Snorkel Park, Maritime Museum or Dolphin Quest. You can dine overlooking the water or shop for souvenirs. You can also make arrangements with the local vendors for excursions around the island.
Hamilton is a quaint, small port. Visitors love taking photos of the pastel buildings that characterize the town. Front Street features upscale shopping and dining along the harbor. Hamilton is also home to the Aquarium, Natural History Museum and zoo.
St. George’s is geared toward smaller cruise ships. This World Heritage Site has a rich history. It also features some of the best beaches on the island. Crystal Caves is a popular destination in this area.
Best Times to Visit Bermuda
Bermuda has beautiful weather throughout the year, but you may have to watch out during hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. Still, many hurricanes don’t make landfall on the island or weaken by the time they arrive there. This destination doesn’t have a wet season, and the summers never get too hot. You might argue that it’s always a great time to visit Bermuda.
In March and April, the weather begins warming up, but the island is still fairly quiet. This is a wonderful time to travel to the area on a budget.
Another perfect time to vacation here is between May and September. You’ll get to take advantage of the warmest weather during this season. However, prices are higher and the island is usually more crowded in the summer.
Traveling to the area in the late spring might be ideal. The weather will be warm enough to enjoy the beaches, but you won’t have to deal with the high-season crowds and prices.

Bermuda Cruises from New York City
See the Big Apple first before departing for a relaxing island paradise! Multiple cruise lines heading toward Bermuda leave from New York, offering you a week-long vacation to a stunning island of pink sands, golf courses, and Caribbean architecture. Arrive early to sightsee before setting sail through the Atlantic.
Cruise Lines
Out of New York City’s two major cruise ports, one in Manhattan and a second in Brooklyn, two contemporary lines leave for Bermuda, offering seven-day trips: • Norwegian Cruise Line – Offering round-trip cruises to Bermuda • Carnival Cruise Line – Offering round-trip cruises to Bermuda
Cruises to Bermuda sail to the island and then spend multiple days in one or two ports. Your itinerary may include:
King’s Wharf: This port on the island’s west side began centuries ago as a British base between Halifax and the West Indies. The British continued to use it as a stronghold on this side of the Atlantic until World War II, and because of this, sights around King’s Warf are related to Bermuda’s naval history. While you’ll get to explore these and more Bermudan history at National Museum of Bermuda and Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, King’s Wharf is one of the island’s cultural centers. So, prepare to taste a Caribbean delicacy at the Bermuda Rum Cake Company and then see works from local artists at the Bermuda Arts Centre. And, as a beach is always nearby, you’ll have a chance to relax, scuba dive, or parasail by the ocean.
Hamilton: Larger vessels don’t usually stop in this smaller port, but shore excursions include it. No matter how you get to Hamilton, make sure to schedule some time to explore the local architecture, known for its pastel-colored buildings. Or, if you’d like to know more about the waters surrounding the island, come by the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
St. George’s: A vacation to Bermuda is both a time to relax and a chance to explore history. At St. George’s, one of the island’s larger ports, you’ll be able to do both. In fact, as it’s the second British settlement in North America, the town’s designated as a World Heritage Site. When it comes time to unwind, make sure to find yourself by Tobacco or Achilles Bay – popular spots for swimming and snorkeling. And, for more natural wonders, Crystal Caves is another must-do stop here.
So, when you want to spend a few days in paradise, why drive several hours or take an airplane to the departure port? Start your next Bermuda cruise from New York City. Browse itineraries through Direct Line Cruises today before scheduling your trip.

Virgin Voyages plans first cruises from New York, Los Angeles with new ship
Virgin Voyages is finally bringing its adults-only cruises to the New York and Los Angeles markets.
The 2-year-old cruise brand, which currently operates most of its North America sailings out of Miami, on Wednesday announced it would soon offer its first regular sailings from the giant coastal cities as well as Seattle.
The trips will kick off in late 2025 on the line's next new ship, the long-delayed, 2,770-passenger Brilliant Lady.
For more cruise news, guides and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .
As part of the announcement, Virgin Voyages said Brilliant Lady would finally start sailing in September 2025. That's nearly two years later than the line originally planned when it announced the vessel in 2018.
Brilliant Lady was originally scheduled to debut in December 2023 .
Virgin Voyages on Wednesday outlined a year's worth of sailings for Brilliant Lady that included sailings to Bermuda, New England and Canada, the Caribbean and the Bahamas, the Panama Canal, the west coasts of Mexico and California, and Alaska.

The trips will kick off Sept. 5, 2025, with the vessel's maiden voyage (called a Mermaiden voyage by Virgin Voyages) out of the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City.
Four more voyages out of New York, ranging from five to 13 nights, will follow during September and October of 2025.
The New York-based trips will include calls in Bermuda, as well as such eastern ports as Charleston, South Carolina; Boston; and Halifax, Saint John and Quebec City in Canada.
After operating out of New York, Brilliant Lady will reposition to Miami and then Los Angeles and Seattle for the following sailings:
- 17 voyages from Miami between October 2025 and April 2026. The trips will range in length from seven to 12 nights and include stops in Aruba; Bonaire; Curacao; Cartagena, Colombia; Turks and Caicos; Antigua; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; and Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
- One 16-night Panama Canal cruise departing March 21, 2026 . The one-way voyage from Miami to Los Angeles will bring calls to Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico.
- Four voyages out of Los Angeles starting April 7, 2026. The sailings will range from five to eight nights and bring calls along the west coast of California and Mexico.
- A yet-to-be-determined number of cruises out of Seattle starting in May 2026 through September 2026 . Details of the sailings will be announced soon, the line said.
While details of the Alaska sailings have yet to be set, customers can secure access to a priority booking window for the sailings by placing a deposit of $500 to $2,500 with Virgin Voyages starting May 8, 2024.
The deposit program will be called the Alaska Front(ier) of the Line Pass. The required deposit amount varies depending on the type of cabin that a customer wants to book.
Like Virgin Voyages' first three vessels ( Scarlet Lady , Valiant Lady and Resilient Lady ), Brilliant Lady has been designed to shake up the cruise industry with a new, hipper style of cruising. The ship will have everything from a tattoo parlor to a colorful karaoke lounge. To ensure a proper party vibe, it also will be a kid-free travel zone , with a minimum age to sail of 18.
