Ferrari Factory Tours

We welcome visitors to tour the historic, yet state-of-the-art Ferrari Factory.

Welcoming visitors to the Ferrari Factory is an important part of the Prancing Horse philosophy. We want to give our clients the opportunity to explore the facility and see the magic firsthand. By immersing yourself fully in the Ferrari experience, we hope you’ll take home a little of the passion and quest for excellence that makes us unique

When you step through the gates of the Ferrari Factory in Maranello, northern Italy, you are entering one of the most advanced automotive facilities in the world… but you are also immersing yourself in our heritage. Maranello is the scene of eight decades of Ferrari passion and innovation. Our founder Enzo Ferrari set up his headquarters here in 1943, and it was through these very gates that the first car to wear the Ferrari badge, the 125 S, was driven in 1947.

Enzo Ferrari decided to move his operations from his birthplace in nearby Modena to Maranello because of the land just beside the factory. Today this land is home to the Fiorano Circuit where Scuderia Ferrari F1 cars and production cars alike have been tested since 1972 – and a wealth of buildings and leading-edge facilities designed by world-class architects. You’ll see them all on your visit to the Ferrari Campus. We’re immensely proud of our home in Maranello and what we achieve here.

What is a Ferrari Factory Tour? The factory tour at Ferrari offers an immersive experience spanning various departments including the mechanical workshop, engine assembly, and car assembly lines. Visitors also get insight into the GES racing division, witnessing F1 vehicle assembly and GT sporting activities. The tour includes visits to the Ferrari Museum and Store, providing a comprehensive overview of the brand's history and merchandise.

How Long is the Ferrari Factory Tour? The duration of the tour is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, with routes subject to change to accommodate Ferrari's schedule.

How to book a Ferrari Factory Tour? Inquire about availability and scheduling for a Ferrari Factory Tour by contacting your Ferrari South Bay Sales Associate or the Ferrari South Bay Marketing Manager directly.

Where is the Ferrari Factory Tour? The meeting point for all factory visits is the main reception of Ferrari S.p.A. – Via Abetone Inferiore, 4 - Maranello.

The Ferrari Museums in Modena and Maranello: how to visit (+ which one to choose)

The Ferrari Museums in Modena and Maranello: which one to choose, how to book, tips for visiting with kids.

The Ferrari Museums in Modena and Maranello are among the best car museums in Italy .

They are a treat for Ferrari lovers and car people in general and they are set out in such a way, you can enjoy them at any age.

We visited as a family of four, with varying degrees of interest in cars, and we all loved it.

The car lover in the family dubbed the place as ‘his favorite place in the whole world’.

However, even the least interested got excited there: the cars, the power of the story, the overall experience is inspirational, easy to enjoy and great fun.

This is a visit I now recommend to everyone and today, I am sharing how to book it and how to arrange your day.

The Ferrari Museum in Modena and Maranello: what you need to know

The first thing you need to know when it comes to the Ferrari Museums is that they are not one museum but two.

One is called ‘The Enzo Ferrari Museum’ and it is in Modena city.

The other one is the Ferrari Museums and Factory and it is in Maranello, a small town about 20km out of Modena.

The two museums complement each other and you can see one or the other on their own or book a combined visit.

Which one to choose depends on what you are most interested in.

At a glance, I recommend you:

  • Visit the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena if you love classic cars and want to see where it all started
  • Visit the Maranello Museum if you love the Ferrari brand and F1. This is also the best museum to visit if you want to take a guided tour of the Ferrari factory estate.

Let’s look at this more in detail.

Which Ferrari Museum is best? How to choose

If you have the time, I highly recommend you visit both museums.

The two are rather different from one other and have a different take on the whole Ferrari experience.

The Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena

The Enzo Ferrari Museum is in Modena city and develops around the original Enzo Ferrari workshops.

The museum has an older part, with Enzo Ferrari’s first office, and attached to it there is a beautiful, modern and futuristic-looking dome with a large display of classic cars.

The outside of the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena

The place is fantastic: the large showroom has many beautiful car models from different times, there are some incredible engines on display and there is a photo booth where you can be photographed while driving a Ferrari!

At regular intervals, a short film tells the story of Enzo Ferrari and explains how the brand came to be.

The museum is not very big and it is easy to visit in about an hour. As well as the showroom, there is a merchandising shop and restroom facilities.

There is no restaurant on-site; however, since the museum is in Modena city, it is easy to find places for lunch nearby.

You can get here to / from the station in about 10 minutes on foot.

The Ferrari Museum in Maranello

The Ferrari Museum in Maranello is very different from the one in Modena.

Located about 20km out of the city, the museum is more focussed on the Ferrari Brand as it developed for one-off models and F1 endeavors and feels a lot more like an immersive experience than just a museum.

Outside of the main building of the Ferrari Museum in Maranello with vertical red and black banners with photos of Ferrari cars

The whole place is designed with the red and black Ferrari brand colors and Ferrari logos and touches are everywhere.

In the various rooms, you see cars, displays of photos, videos and all the Ferrari trophies and F1 cars.

In the ‘Victory Room’ you are literally surrounded by the F1 winning cars and you can see the names of the pilots and their victory cups.

The whole thing is captivating even if you do not like cars.

The place has made an incredible job and getting people on board with the idea of Ferrari being more than cars and you feel like you are part of a big successful family.

Victories room inside the Ferrari Museum in Maranello with F1 Ferrari cars on display

As well as seeing the museum displays, here you can also participate in two main activities:

Ferrari driving simulator : for an extra charge, visitors tall more than 150cm can experience the Ferrari simulator. This is a 7-minute experience and you get to sit in a car and ‘drive’ along a circuit of your choice.

Our son did this and said it was similar to a videogame experience, albeit ‘bigger and better’.

For it, you sit in a car shell in front of a wrap-around screen. With the help of a Ferrari Museum warned, you learn how to use the steering wheel and gear, pick a circuit to drive and you are ready!

The experience doesn’t require a headset nor goggles and others can watch you while you drive.

Panoramic Bus Tour of the Factory: for an extra charge, you can hop on bus and get a guided tour of the Ferrari factory estate.

This tour is highly informative and leads you inside the Ferrari Factory village, where you see the outside of the plants and workshops and the wind gallery where they test the cars.

This is also where Ferrari owners bring their cars for checks so, while you bus around, you will see many Ferrari zooming around the place in all possible colors!

This tour also brings you to see the local race track; however, racing regulations do not allow for practice on the track, therefore you do not actually see cars in action her

The Maranello Museum also has a merchandising shop on-site, restrooms facilities and a cafe on site.

Immediately outside of it, you have several restaurants and cafes. It is worth noticing that the Ferrari-themed restaurant ‘The Paddock’ is not here but in Maranello Village, which is a short drive away.

Visitin the Ferrari Museums of Modena and Maranello with kids

We visited the Modena and Maranello museums with our two children: a car-loving 11-year-old and a car-uninterested 9-year-old.

They both loved the day.

We started with a visit to Maranello and we all immediately felt the buzz and excitement of the place.

My son taking a photo od a Ferrari car on display in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello Italy

Unsure about the simulator, we hadn’t booked it but quickly got sucked into the desire to treat our son to it.

There was no queue at the simulator desk and there were several children who had just finished and were enthusiastic about it, which reassured us it was suitable for their age.

The museum desk person was lovely with our son and they had a grand old chat about circuits while he explained how to use the commands.

The simulation itself only lasts 7 minutes and at 25 Euro is all but cheap. However, it stayed as one of the highlights of our son’s day and you can take photos of them driving, which is an incredible memento for them.

There is a minimum height requirement to do it and this is strict as it has to do with the size of the car.

My son just about made the height and was able to just about hit the pedals: any shorter would have been technically impossible to drive.

If you are unsure about height, I recommend you only decide about the simulator on the day as they will be able to advise.

After the visit to the museum we went to a nearby cafe/restaurant (not branded, just beside the museum) andf then we joined the factory tour.

The factory tour is the most informative part of the visit albeit possibly the least impressive.

You hop on a bus and a guide brings you to the factory estate (no photo allowed there): you pass the main gate and you are driven around the factory lot, seeing the different paint/tire etc workshops from outside, and getting a taste of what it may feel like working at Ferrari, passing the company canteen etc.

In the estate, you also see the outside of the wind gallery which they use to test for aero dynamicity.

The highlight of this part of the tour is the guide who gives an incredible amount of information about Ferrari cars and F1 regulations.

This part of the tour was excellent for my car-obsessed son but too information-driven for my daughter who mostly just enjoyed sitting on the bus and seeing the Ferrars from the windows!

If you have a car lover, highly recommend this part of the tour. If you are here with a little one, however, or just want to see the beautiful cars, you can stick to the museum only.

How to visit the Ferrari Museum in Modena and Maranello on the same day

It is possible to visit the Ferrari Museums in Modena and Maranello on the same day. however, it takes a little bit of planning.

Since the two are in different areas, you will need to book both entrances, make arrangements for transport and you will also need to separately book the bus tour if doing.

You can do all this by yourself on the Ferrari Museums Ticketitn platform or you can do what we did: send an email to Vivara Viaggi their travel agency partner, and get them to book it for you!

In our case, the day worked perfectly and it entailed:

  • 10.40 Shuttle from Modena train station to Maranello Museum
  • 11.15 Arrival and self-guided visit to the museum
  • Simulator experience (booked last minute on site)
  • Lunch (own time, no booking needed)
  • 13.00 Bus tour from Maranello Museum to factory lot
  • 14.45 Shuttle to Enzo ferraru Museum in Modena
  • 15.25 Self guided museum visit

Since we were staying in Bologna, we then just easily walked back to the station to get back to the city. we were home in the late afternoon.

How to book the Ferrari Museums

There are several ways to book your visit to the Ferrari Museums.

From the Museums, Websites (combined tickets available) >> click here <<<

Via Vivara Viaggi >>> click here <<<, this is the museum’s official partner, recommended on the museum website. They are perfect if you don’t have your own transport and want to also get tickets for the Ferrari shuttle.

Where to stay to visit the Ferrari Museums of Modena and Maranello

There are many options when it comes to accommodation, depending on budget and plans for the other day so your trip.

Please note: this post contains affiliate links. Should you make a purchase through them, we will make a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

Some you may like are:

Hotel Maranello Village : A Ferrari-themed property, this hotel is the equivalent of an in-park hotel at a theme park.

The hotel and ‘The Paddock’ restaurant and perfect if you want to live and breathe Ferrari for the entire duration of your stay. Please note: this hotel is a 5-minute drive from the museum: own transport recommended.

Casa Palestro in Modena : this is a lovely apartment in Modena city, close to the station and the Enzo Ferrari Museum, good for larger families (sleeps 5)

Starhotel Excelsior Bologna : if you prefer to base yourself in Bologna and come for the day (like we did!), we found the Starhotel Excelsior in Bologna to be excellent.

They have family rooms, excellent breakfast and an excellent location right in front of the train station. Our top pick.

I hope you enjoyed this quick guide to the Ferrari Museums in Modena and Maranello and the review of our experience helped you plan your day at best. Safe travel planning!

Factory tours of Ferrari and Lamborghini

I'm in the planning stages of a trip with my son to see the factories. Figure we'll base in Bologna. My question is to those readers who have done one or both of these tours...

  • How far in advance should we book tour tickets? Or just buy there? Looks like one needs a reservation, so I thought as soon as we had travel dates, we'd go on line and book a tour.
  • What is transportation like to get from Bologna to the smaller towns? Bus? I'm thinking there won't be a train connection, or is there? No plans to rent a car.
  • Any other comments/recommentations that would be helpful?

I would suggest you Google "Lamborghini factory tour" for tour details at their Sant’Agata Bologonese factory. It's northeast of Modena 10-12 miles--out in the country.

The Ferrari tour factory in Modena is only available to present Ferrari owners. But they have a fine Ferrari museum that can be visited without reservations.

You can go between Bologna and Modena by train in 20-30 minutes. Since Lamborghini is so far out of town, it would be best to do a one day car rental to hit both places.

This region is the tops in Italy for manufacturing technology. Aprilia motorcycles is also close by.

As the previous poster noted, the Ferrari factory is only open if you are an owner. If you are, contact your dealer and they will be able to assist you. If not, the museum is worth seeing. According to the museum's website (below), they have a shuttle that meets the train in Modena and takes you straight to the museum (back in 2011 when I went, this shuttle did not exist, and we took a bus between Modena and Maranello--you have to walk about 15 minutes between the train and bus stations, and you'll want Route 800 to Maranello. Takes 35 minutes. Link below for bus timetable.) If you do go to the museum, also make a short trip to their test track (Fiorano). Again, you won't be able to get inside, but can see whatever cars their testing that day through the perimeter fence. With your back to the museum, turn left on road in front of you and you'll run into the fencing in about 10 minutes. You also might want to have lunch at the Ristorante Montana, which is chock full of Ferrari and other racing memorabilia. It's also in Maranello, north of the factory and museum. As far as tickets to the museum, you can buy them online, but I think we just bought them when we arrived.

Sorry, can't offer any advice for the Lambo tour.

Here's the website for the Ferrari Museum... http://museo.ferrari.com/

And the timetable that includes bus route 800... http://www.setaweb.it/azienda/linee_mo/EXTRAURBANO07_01_2014.PDF

Another thought Ellen: Maybe you could rent a Ferrari and drive to the factory, and they might not check the registration too closely! Of course that might not help you at the Lamborghini plant. Or better yet, you could rent a Lamborghini, which would no doubt satisfy the Lamborghini people, and would probably sufficiently intimidate the Ferrari folks that they would not interfere with your entry. What do you think? Good luck!

Larry's idea is best! Thanks all for the information. I have googled both companies. My son is totally into cars, he works for VW in the parts department here in Colorado.

We visited the BMW factory in Munich about 8 years ago and really enjoy the factory tour. His idea was to see Ferrari and Lamborghini this time. Did notice that Lamborghini has a tour for 40E per adult...and saw the Ferrari museum info...so might have to settle for that.

Just being in Italy with my son for a vacation will be great.

Wish I had the money to rent one of these cars (not! - rather spend it on vacations)

Re: renting one of the cars. I have no idea what the cost is, but we saw several groups (especially just outside the museum) that offered people the chance to drive a Ferrari for a short time in Maranello.

My husband is a huge car guy, and we toured the Lamborghini Factory in 2011.

1) Book tour tickets ahead of time. You need to make your reservation - so choose a day and work it into your schedule. You can always email them through the website to check on availability and times if you are trying to decide between different days.

2) There is not a train connection to the Lambo factory. You can take a bus from Bologna, as we did. However, (story time) because the signs were small to read and we weren't sure of where to get off, my husband and I got off the bus a town too early. We were walk/running down the side of a highway, hot in September, as trucks with bales of hay were passing us on the highway. It was a scene out of a movie. We finally stopped at a gas station we reached, I asked the owner to call up a taxi and it took us the rest of the way. We arrived a little late for the tour but they brought us in and met us up with the group. Moral of the story: you may want to hire a car service to take you from Bologna, or rent a car if you'd rather do that. You can take a bus, but it gets a little tricky - and I would hate if you were late to your tour like we were, haha.

3) Enjoy the tour! You go through the factory, get to touch some of the leather they use for the seats, learn all about the process... It was a treat. The museum and shop at the end were cool, but the tour itself was really great. My husband and I grabbed lunch in the town (just walked down the road from the factory) afterward. While sitting outside eating our sandwiches, some employees of the factory were test-driving a Gallardo, so that was fun to watch! It's a tiny town - not much to see, but sometimes you get lucky with a glimpse of them testing cars.

If your son likes cars, he will adore the tour. The 40€ per person isn't cheap, but I think it's way worth it. My husband's description of the tour was " I'm like a fat kid in an all you can eat buffet specializing in sweet treats at this point... " We were lucky enough to be there on the day that the President of Lamborghini was present, and he was showing off the yet-unreleased Aventador to some Audi execs who were in town, so that is a great memory!

Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I think the suggestion above to rent a car to do the Lamborghini Factory and the Ferrari Museum is a good idea if you want to do both. Just remember the usual advice - have your IDP and be careful of ZTLs.

In 2004 the Ferrari factory choose to celebrate in style the 40th anniversary of these magnificent cars, the 275 GTB and GTS.The timeless elegance of this model and its many victories at such legendary races as Le Mans, the Targa Florio and the 1000 kms of Spa-Francorchamps and the design similarities to the legendary 250 GTO Series I are the reason why the 275 has such a devoted following. The Ferrari factory dedicated a special 275 Tour to those loyal owners. Aside from the celebrations for the marque’s 50th anniversary in 1997, the 275 Tour was the first event organised directly by the factory and the decision to stage this historic meeting was met with great enthusiasm. Thanks to the enormeous efforts of the factory’s Joanne Marshall and Angelo Amadesi the 275 Tour, held from 15 to 20 June 2004 in beautiful Tuscany, became a huge success.

The lucky owners of 275s know that hey have in their garages one of the last true dual-purpose cars: a racer bred for the track and an exclusive Grand Tourer, designed to effortlessly eat up the miles and cross continents in search of the finest pleasures in life. The 2004 factory tour was created around these two principles. Each day, the 275s explored the roads around Maranello and Tuscany, retracing the routes of the classic races of the 1960s, including the Vergato-Cereglio hillclimb, the Coppa del Chianti, the Coppa della Consuma, the Balze di Volterra hillclimb, and, of course, the Mugello road circuit which was one of the most spectacular races in the Manufacturer’s World Championship and the International GT Championship. Between the special stages some of Tuscany’s most extraordinary villas were opened for the guests. These included the homes of the Marchesi Lorenzo and Alessandra Niccolini di Camugliano in Camugliano, the Marchesi Vittorio and Bona Frescobaldi at the Castello di Nipozzano, the Marchesi Lorenzo and Sandra Ginori-Lisci in Querceto and the Franco and Boba Biondi-Santi family in Montalcino. The owners of these magnificent residences introduced themselves to the 275 Tour guests with some of their most exclusive wines and Tuscany’s most renowned dishes.

The exclusive spirit of the factory 275 Tour was underlined by the choice of Italy’s finest Renaissance art and architecture as backdrops to the evening receptions. The Corridoio Vasariano, which links the Palazzo Pitti and the Palazzo Vecchio, whose walls are adorned with Renaissance masterpieces, was especially opened for the 275 Tour guests. Palazzo Corsini, one of Florence’s most majestic buildings, hosted the gala dinner, while the splendid Gardens of the Palazzo Corsini sul Prato provided the setting for another truly sophisticated supper, al fresco this time. Last but not least, the 275 Tour participants stayed at the Grand Hotel on the Lugarno, overlooking the Piazza Ognissanti, right in the very heart of Florence’s old town centre, where the 275s were lined up in the most original exhibition that the Tuscan capital has ever hosted. It was a true masterpiece of style in the city of art.

Fiftyfive Ferrari 275s from all over the world participated in this super exclusive factory event. Among the special guests was also former Ferrari Formula One champion John Surtees from England. Lucky 275 owners from Thailand, Japan, Germany, Holland, Costa Rica, the USA, Poland, Hong Kong, Belgium, England, Singapore, Argentina, Switzerland, South Africa, Italy and Denmark had shipped their 275 GTB and GTS to Modena. One of the highlights was Preston Henn’s yellow ex-Ecurie Francorchamps 275 GTB Speciale, a fabulous racing car with an outstanding history. Preston bought that unique racer about 35 years ago, not knowing the provenance and history of the car. Another extraordinary 275 at the event was painted green. This was the famous “Del Rio green” four-cam, color featured in “Automobile Quarterly” in the fall of 1969. Daniel Del Rio, a New York investment banker with excellent connections to Luigi Chinetti and the Ferrari factory, had commissioned this GTB/4 in an unusual green color, without front bumpers and with an outside fuel filler cap. The car is still unrestored, extremely original and powerful and owned by a prominent Californian art connaisseur and Ferrari collector.

The event provided excellent opportunities to compare the various 275 models. Some had the original shortnose bodywork, others the later longnose. A few had the more sportier and lighter alloy body. Some came with outside fuel filler caps and some with RHD steering wheel position. Then there were the ones with the three carburetor set up, whereas others had the 6-carb arrangement. Only 12 competition 275 GTB/Cs were built and no fewer than four were seen during the 275 Tour. And there were also three of the open 275 GTS versions, of which one was the 1965 Paris motor show car still in its original color.

The factory press departement created a beautiful and most interesting tour program, an officially numbered brochure which provides not only historical background but also all the serial numbers of all 275s ever built (1005 units) plus information about the 275 racing history in national and international events.
