Are Travel Exclusives more expensive than other items?

No, that is not the case. The items in our Travel Exclusive range offer a distinct advantage: you get more for your money. Perfumes with a free shower gel, a Clinique skincare set that includes two free items or a single malt whisky in a litre bottle. Even those with a sweet tooth can't miss out on the items available exclusively in the travel market: Your favourite chocolate or fruit gums are available at Heinemann in practical bulk packs - making it even easier to share the pleasure. Why are whisky and other spirits offered in litre bottles?

There is a simple reason why the majority of spirits in the airport shop are usually offered in one-litre bottles instead of the standard 0.7-litre bottle: the duty-free allowance for travellers outside the EU is one litre of spirits with more than 22% vol. or two litres of spirits with less than 22% vol. or four litres of wine. The bottle sizes in the Heinemann Shop thus enable non-EU travellers to make full use of their allowances. But even for air travellers within the EU , high-quality single malts, first-class vodkas or fine cognacs in the one-litre bottle are attractive due to the higher allowances. In addition, selected spirits and wines are available as Travel Exclusive offers in a double pack, so you get even more for your money. Heinemann opens new ’Travel Value’ store at Bratislava

Heinemann Travel Value & Duty Free Shops’ Retail Manager in Bratislava Fritz Janach said: “I am proud to be partner in a business relationship with Bratislava Airport since 2007.

“Extending our business with the new shop gives us the opportunity to serve all departing passengers from Bratislava to Russia, Turkey, or Egypt – just to mention a few destinations.”

Speaking at the opening of the new outlet in Slovakia’s capital city facility, Bratislava Airport CEO Jozef Pojedinec said he was equally proud: “Heinemann is, for us, a stable long term and fair partner. We highly appreciate the mutual cooperation.

“We very much welcome the opening of a new duty free shop that will expand the offer of duty free products for our passengers in the non-Schengen area.”

Both companies describe the new Heinemann Travel Value & Duty Free Shop as modern, bright and well supplied, offering customers ‘great shopping experiences and savings’.

There are also monthly special offers featuring changing products, plus seasonal or themed campaigns aimed at providing ‘special surprises’ for customers.

Janach added: “In this shop we focus above all on our great prices. Passengers will find unbeatable offers from the most popular brands under one roof. We are very pleased to be able to launch this concept together with Bratislava Airport.”

Bratislava Airport served 1.7m passengers last year.

ADDRESSING ALL PASSENGER PREFERENCES

This new shop in the non-Schengen area is now able to serve all of the airport’s departing passengers, alongside its sister 350sq m Heinemann Travel Value & Duty Free Shop in the Schengen area.

The additional store is also said to be a perfect addition to help meet the future passenger growth, which Bratislava and Heinemann management are both expecting.

This year the airport pointed to 41 regular destinations served by seven carriers in 22 countries. It also handled a total of 1,756, 808 passengers in 2016, a 12.3% increase on 2015 and the highest number recorded in a 12-month period over the previous eight years.
