This performance will be taped for Jim's new comedy special.

Hennepin Theatre Trust announced that comedian Jim Gaffigan has announced his new 2021 The Fun Tour along with 25 new dates.

The tour will kick-off on August 14 in Wilmington, NC before making a stop in Minneapolis at the historic State Theatre (805 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis) on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. Gaffigan's tour itinerary also includes a number of rescheduled shows from 2020 that were moved due to the pandemic.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 14 at 12 p.m. at HennepinTheatreTrust.org .

This performance will be taped for Jim's new comedy special. Must be 18+ to attend. All pricing includes a Building and Restoration Fee of $4.

Gaffigan is a six-time Grammy nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer, two-time New York Times best-selling author, two-time Emmy winning top touring performer, and multi-platinum-selling recording artist. He is known around the world for his unique brand of humor, which largely revolves around his observations on life.

A top ten comedian according to Forbes' 2019 comedy list, Jim recently released his 8th stand-up special, The Pale Tourist, on Amazon which was nominated for a Grammy. He was also recently awarded for being the first comedian to reach one billion streams on Pandora.

Up next, Gaffigan will be seen as the lead in the Sci-Fi dramedy, Linoleum, and will star as the role as Mr. Smee in Disney's Peter Pan and Wendy, opposite Jude Law and Yara Shahidi. He will also be heard in Disney/Pixar's highly anticipated film, Luca, opposite Jacob Tremblay and Maya Rudolph which is premiering June 17th.

On the silver screen, his many credits include Three Kings, Super Troopers 1 & 2, and Chappaquiddick. 2019 was Gaffigan's biggest year to date with an astonishing eight films releasing, three which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival including Troop Zero with Viola Davis and Alison Janney , Them That Follow and Light From Light - with many festival goers and press calling Gaffigan the "King of Sundance."

In addition to two seasons of the critically acclaimed semi-autobiographical The Jim Gaffigan Show, which he wrote and produced with his wife Jeannie, and his widely popular stand-up comedy specials, Gaffigan has guest starred on many television comedies and dramas, ranging from Portlandia and Bob's Burgers to the HBO cult hits Flight of the Concords to dramatic roles in Law & Order.

Jim Gaffigan to record Minneapolis shows for Netflix special

MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Comedian Jim Gaffigan's performances this weekend in Minneapolis will be recorded for an upcoming Netflix special.

Gaffigan is set to perform five shows starting Thursday at the historic State Theatre on Hennepin Avenue in downtown Minneapolis as part of his "The Fun Tour" swing. The shows will feature all-new material for what will be the stand-up comedian's seventh special on Netflix.

Gaffigan will perform one show on Thursday, and two show each on Friday and Saturday nights.

Tickets for the shows start at $49.75 each. The State Theatre requires guests to show proof of vaccination with a photo ID or a recent negative test.

MINNEAPOLIS Jim Gaffigan , the Grammy-nominated comedian, New York Times best-selling author, top touring performer and soon-to-be star of The Jim Gaffigan Show will perform two shows at the State Theatre at 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, November 67, 2015 . Gaffigan stops in Minneapolis as part of CONTAGIOUS , his latest national tour showcasing his signature and hilarious mix of stand-up material. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1 . Known for his clever, quiet style, Gaffigan is a multi-platinum selling, father of five. His inventive commentary on food topics, such as Hot Pockets and McDonalds, has helped make him one of the top five most successful touring comedians in the country today. This July 2015, he begins a new role as executive producer and star of The Jim Gaffigan Show, which will debut on TV Land and Comedy Central. Inspired by Gaffigans real life, The Jim Gaffigan Show explores one man's struggle to find a balance between fatherhood, stand-up comedy and an insatiable appetite.

Gaffigan has gained fans and acclaim with comedy specials including Beyond the Pale , King Baby and Mr. Universe . His fourth, hour-long special, Obsessed , premiered on Comedy Central in 2014 and hit Number One on iTunes, giving the stand-up artist five albums in the Top 25 Comedy category. Obsessed also earned a nomination for Best Comedy Album of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

He released his 10 th  comedy special,  Dark Pale , this year on Amazon Prime Video, an unprecedented achievement for the comedian/actor.   Dark Pale  was met with critical fanfare with The New York Times calling it, ‘his best yet.”

Review: jerry seinfeld graces minneapolis audience with an iconic 'seinfeld' line.

Jerry Seinfeld opened his first Minneapolis show in five years by kissing up to the crowd.

"If they made me leave New York, I would live here," he said Friday to thunderous applause.

It was the last sunny line he would utter.

Seinfeld, 69, has made a career out of being cranky — and he's not about to transform into a cockeyed optimist. During the first of four shows at the Orpheum Theatre, he whined about cell phones, meteorologists, golf carts, raisins, TV dinners and chopsticks. But he also makes it clear that he's way too cool, and way too successful, to truly blow a gasket.

"When I don't enjoy something, it does not bother me," he said after sharing details from a family vacation that was spoiled by the kids throwing expensive cashews at guests from their hotel balcony.

As usual, he avoided hot-button issues. The closest he came to being topical or controversial was when he poked fun at explorers who perished during their journey to the Titanic wreck. The few audience members who groaned were quickly mollified by a bit on the ridiculousness of Jet Skis.

Seinfeld, dressed in a designer suit and occasionally moving across the stage like a caffeinated Kramer, remains committed to mundane madness.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

No one does it better, with the possible exception of Jim Gaffigan, who Seinfeld will be touring with in November. Minneapolis audiences are getting the lesser-known, but always reliable Mario Joyner as an opener.

Seinfeld's 70-minute set included advice on how to maintain a healthy marriage, which basically came down to men being as quiet as possible. The long bit included some polished, smart jokes, but this was worn territory.

Seinfeld's shows aren't known for their spontaneity, but there were a couple surprises during a brief Q&A with fans seated near the front.

Seinfeld revealed that he's writing the foreword for a new book from his former "Seinfeld" co-star Michael Richards, who was all but blackballed from comedy after he uttered a racial slur during a 2006 club performance.

Seinfeld also honored a request to recite his famous "Hello, Newman" greeting, throwing in some tips on how it should be delivered.

Seinfeld probably hates doing old "Seinfeld" lines — which means he probably kind of loves it, too.

Seinfeld will close out his time in the Twin Cities with 7 and 9:30 p.m. shows Saturday. Limited seats may still be available.
